The Banishing Full Playthrough - JonGetsGames
welcome to Jong Gates games today I'll be doing a full three-player playthrough of the banishing this is a fully Cooperative game where each player takes on the role of a character from fantasy such as a Bard A Healer or a brute and what they'll be doing is drafting cards from the center of the table some of which will be good and they'll be doing set collection to evaluate some powerful asymmetric abilities and other cards are Undead that will wound them as they actually draft those cards I'll explain how the game plays while we're actually playing it so let's jump in here we have the game fully set up for our three different players we have the brute The Bard and the witch that we'll be playing with today although there are five other options that actually come in the game that you can choose from According to the rules players are allowed to communicate everything they have in their hand to one another but they're not actually allowed to show their hands to each other but for the sake of this video I'll just be showing all the hands face up and also I don't think I'll be taking on the role of one specific player but instead I'll be controlling all of them and talking through the various things we're trying to do to win the game the goal of the game is to banish 10 cards from the void which is this three by three grid over here in the middle of the table now we're going to have to banish those 10 cards before one of three things happen and those three things would end the game for us the first is if we go through this deck three times the second is if any of us dies by taking wounds matching or exceeding the Heart level here and the third is if all three of us are exhausted which means that we have all taken wounds that match the smaller number to the left of our hearts unfortunately banishing cards is not that easy and I'll get into the specifics of how we do it pretty soon here but let's go ahead and jump into the brut's turn the the first thing you always do on your turn is you take a row or a column of cards that are out here in the void so every character will always be taking three cards before they actually take any main actions and I think for the brute players first turn they actually want to take this middle column here what happens is this red circle will go into their hand and you'll notice they already have two red circles so that will be pretty useful for us but then also they're going to take these two Undead cards and these are going to go into the wound section for this player which means that the brute has effectively taken four wounds on this very first turn of the game but fortunately we see that their stamina level is five so that means if we take one more damage then we're actually going to have to flip this board over and you'll notice that there's nothing in the middle of the card there whereas here we have a variety of stuff when you're exhausted you just don't have access to your asymmetric special abilities and I'll talk about that pretty soon so now that the brute has taken those three cards we immediately refill the void back up with cards and now the brute can take an optional action and we're pretty much always going to be wanting to take an action where possible and if you look at their player board they actually have nine different options available to them the top three are the same for all of the players and you can do these even if you're exhausted but then down here we have two red two green and two blue abilities and these are specific to The Brute themselves so they are different from the abilities of every other character in the game and when you perform any of these actions here you need to either get rid of a set of three of the same color or three of the same color and the same symbol there are three different symbols in the game game with the circle there's a square and a triangle and when we look at the hand of the brute they actually have three red circles so they have the option of doing either of these on the red section but they're not able to do any of the green or blue options because they only have one blue card I think it's very likely that the brute player will be doing one of these red actions but I want to briefly talk about these three main ones first the first says Swap and it allows the player to change the position of two different cards that are out there in that 3x3 grid of the Void so you can uh set something up better for one your companions who are taking a turn after you the next one is trade you can take one card in your hand and swap it with one card in one of your companions hands and the last one allows you to rest which means you just discard the lowest value wound that you currently have so in this case I would be able to get rid of this one now let's look at our two red options the first one says slash and it says that we can discard an undead and then discard all cards that are adjacent to it and the kind of better version is frenzy which says that we can discard an undead for each wound that we have well we took two wounds on this turn and that was pretty intentional because I think let's go ahead and discard these three red cards that are also the same symbol to unlock the frenzy ability with the two wounds we get to discard two Undead from the void so we can just get rid of these this means they're not going to be forced into somebody else's hand it does mean that we're going through this deck faster but it's important to clear up the undead where we can although more might come out looks like we're lucky so far and all right one more did come out and this is a two value I guess this one is actually a zombie right here the last thing a player does on their turn is check to make sure they don't have more than eight cards in their hand they currently have one so they're good and that means play is going to pass to The Bard and once again they have to take a row or a column out here from the void when The Bard player looks at their hand and then all the options out here in the void the uh first thing that jumps out is there are these three blue circles and they already have a blue circle in their hand and when we look to the different types on each player's board the red abilities in general are offensive they will discard and mess up the undead out here in the void the green things are more defensive helping to heal opponents and transfer things around and the blue abilities are more specific to banishing cards specifically you can only banish cards with a set of blue that also has the same exact ability each character has one banish ability and it is this secondary harder to get level so with all that in mind the bar player decides they're actually going to pick this bottom row right here this is going to go into their hand and they now actually have three blue circles that they can potentially use if they want to but first let's go ahead and refill the void The Bard can now take an action so let's look at their blue options because they have all these blue in their hand the first one just says gossip and it says that all players can trade any number of cards back and forth with each other so that's potentially quite powerful to set up some various combos between us and the other one says perform I guess this is The Bard actually putting on a performance uh with our Loot and it says that you uh can play all of the green circle cards from the void to the banishing when we look out to the void we see there is only one green circle currently in it and we also know that the witch player has one in their hand there are six each of the different types of cards so that means there are four more green circles somewhere in this deck and the bar player decides it doesn't make sense to spend these three cards right now just to banish one card we need to get to 10 banishing before we can actually win the game and they want to be more efficient so they're going to hold on and hope to see some more of these green circles pop out before they actually do this ability which means they need to do something else with their turn and they've looked to the top bit right here and they've decided they're going to do the swap because when they discuss what the witch wants to do on their turn we know that they are um actively thinking about trying to get three of these uh blue squares together because the witch can banish any Undead that are currently wounds and the witch player would kind of like to take an undead so that they can banish it as a wound so they uh Bard is going to swap these two around which is going to allow the witch player to grab this column right here and they'll be able to get a shield which will be nice for them in the future and then also be able to grab this level two Undead here so with that the bar players turn is done they have less than eight cards currently so they're good it goes to the witch player and just like they planned they've decided to grab this far left column right here and if you look at the shield it says that you can discard this to block a wound so they could discard this right now in order to not take this zombie right here but you can also hold on to these items you kind of slide them in under your sheet but I'll keep it over here in the hand for now we of course need to refill the void immediately so we have another zombie we've got o nice a green circle and then another zombie so quite a bit of Undead happening out here in the void but it is really good to see this one it's now time for the witch to take an action and we see that they have taken two wounds which is just barely enough to not go into fatigue for them so they still have all these options available to themselves but they don't currently have three of a kind for anything they weren't able to quite build up uh to have all three of the blue squares just yet there's one of them out in the void but they're not able to get that until potentially next turn so that means the witch needs to find something else to do and it's going to be one of these top three options The Brute mentions that they would really like to be able to grab this blue circle on their next turn but at the moment in order to grab that they would either need to go up and down here which would allow them to take two more of these uh little skeletons which would definitely put them into fatigue or the other way is they do this and then they grab this green circle which we don't want them to do we want that to stay out here so that the Bard player can actually banish that so with all that being said the witch player decides it probably makes most sense to actually Swap this skeleton here for oh no sorry uh this um red one for the green circle and that way the uh The Brute player is going to be able to grab this whole row here they'll have a couple Reds and they'll have two of these blue circles move them in a good direction and they also won't have too many wounds to actually fatigue themselves with that the witch player is done so now the brute does take their turn and they're going to do the obvious play that was set up here so they now have two of these blue circles we've seen almost all of them in the deck at the moment they've got a couple of these red cards right here now we can refill from the void we see we have a green triangle we have a blue triangle and a red square so it's a good thing we didn't see too many more of these Undead they don't have three of any of the colors which leaves them just the top three options the U Bar player is totally fine with taking this middle row right here on their turn so they don't see a reason to necessarily swap things around too much so all that being said their last option realistically is just to either do a rest action or to swap a card with somebody else but there isn't a really good version of that out there either so they're just going to go ahead and rest they of course discard the lowest value wound they have so they'll get rid of the skeleton and their turn is now done The Bard now must take a row or a column and it does seem like an easy way out is just to grab this middle row right here but the more The Bard thinks about it they think this might not actually be the right time to do that because well that would put them up to nine cards which means they would have to either discard a card at the end of their turn or spend some of their cards and uh currently they are holding on to these three and they have a pretty good action of just getting rid of uh banishing these two green circles but when they look over the witch they see that they just need one more Blue Square in order to be able to banish this two out of their wound pile and the witch only has a stamina of three so they are a bit precarious they do have the shield as a one-time thing that could stop a wound from coming in but looking at the situation and knowing that it's potentially good for the B player to keep waiting until the the time is ripe to maybe even get three of these green circles gone into the banish pool uh they decide they're going to go ahead and grab up here when they take this column they're actually going to take two wounds and that means these don't go into their hand and they have now only have seven cards in their hand so they can do a different one of these top actions not worry about having to discard anything but uh before I get too far ahead of myself let's go ahead and refill the void we have another Shield that's nice we have a skeleton ooh nice and a green circle well The Bard player was planning on swapping this blue square over to the witch player so that the witch player could banish this zombie but now that we have three of these green circles out here we're going to get into a situation where players will not be able to take cards from the middle without actually taking one of these green circles so I think the plan just changed with that last card flip it does now I think make sense for the bar player to spend all three of these blue circles these are going to go into the discard pile and they're now going to activate their perform ability which lets them banish any green circle from the void we have three of them so just like that we are almost a third of the way towards Victory we have to immediately refill the void we have another skeleton uhoh this maybe isn't looking too great for the witch player but that was still probably the right thing to do so now we have a green triangle The Bard player only has four cards in their hand so they're good and play now moves over to the Witch and they need to figure out what row or column they want to grab when they look out to the void for their options they don't see a lot of great ones honestly they have two blue they have a red and a green they are just waiting for the bar player to have a turn or they can swap over and get that U Blue Square so they can banish this zombie out of the game but when they look over here if they take any more wounds they will become exhausted and once again when you become exhausted you lose access to all these um awesome asymmetric abilities in particular you can't banish things anymore so I think what actually makes sense for the witch player is to take this top row right here and they're going to immediately discard this shield in order to not take this wound right here and unfortunately they're also going to use this Shield to get rid of this little skeleton they'd much rather use the shield to get rid of one of the two or three level uh Undead that could come out but this is probably the right thing for them to do so set themselves up for a good banishing turn next time so we now immediately refill the void and there is one of those three level ones and actually since they don't have any three of the kinds to activate any of these abilities it does make sense for them to actually do the swap they don't have to wait for the bar players turn of course and they are going to give The Bard player this green circle and The Bard is going to give them this blue square so that the witch is set up on their next turn to be able to definitely banish this off and not only move the game clock closer to being completion but also leave the witch in a better position to take some more wounds so that they can continue to banish them with that the witch is done and play goes up to the brute and they have decided they are just H they really want this red card here so they could do a big sweeping action and they've decided to grab these three right here so they now have three of these red cards we of course have to refill the void and they're really hoping to see an undead show up right here because nice awesome it makes their slash ability that much better when we look at the details of it it says that we can get rid of any three red cards the symbols don't have to match and now they can discard an undead and then discard all cars adjacent to it this means that they can Target this zombie right here and the adjacent car cards happen to all be Undead that worked out really well for all of us so that's four cards uh for specific Undead that we don't have to worry about and now we refill the void there's some more powerful ones oh wow lots of them well I guess it looked pretty good but pretty quickly the void got scary again plan now moves over to The Bard and they are in a bit of a tricky situation because almost anything they do out here in the void is going to make them exhausted the only option they have that wouldn't would be grabbing this far right column but if they did that and any Undead came out then the witch would also be in that same situation and then they would not even be able to banish this card from their wound area and that really is a priority because banishing removes cards from the deck uh once we go through this once we're going to shuffle up and uh play them out again so it's definitely a good thing to remove Undead where we can so I think they need to take a little bit of a risk they're going to grab this top row right here it does mean well first of all they have a whole bunch of these green cards I'll organize that in a minute but it also means that they are taking three damage we can slide this in up here they are now at five damage which is indeed uh greater than or equal to four so they unfortunately flip their board over and they now don't have access to those special abilities but if they ever go below their exhaustion threshold they'll be able to flip their board back over so despite having five of these green cards available to them they can't actually cash any of these sets in so they can do a swap trade or rest they are interested in resting but before they decide we need to refill the void what they're hoping to not see is an undead right here so that the witch has a good clean shot but we start from the top left we have a green square we have a red square and then oh man we have a skeleton okay so I think this is going to modify The Bard turn if this had not been Undead The Bard probably would have just rested to get themselves out of exhaustion but as it is now that um they have this here they pretty much need to move this out of the way uh swap with another thing out in the void so that the witch player has a good clean turn for them to play with and when they look at the various options they notice that the um the witch does have one of these red squares so they are going to swap these two around uh because when they discuss it with the witch player they mentioned having these three red squares will actually allow them to wipe out a bunch of Undead on the board so we'll see how that works when it's actually the witch player's turn so after that swap the uh The Bard player looks down they have eight or less cards so the witch can now go and they are going to take the only save option available to them out on the board so they now have three of these squares available to themselves we can refill the void we've got a blue square we have another green triangle and then another skeleton the witch can now take their one action and we have been planning for turns so that they could discard these three uh blue squares so that they could banish this uh zombie here but the situation out the void just has a ton of different Undead and now that they were able to grab these four red squares which was something they were not really anticipating they now have this poison option and it says that they can discard a connected group of Undead no diagonals when we look out to the void we see that all five of these Undead are actually connected orthogonally so I just don't think we can pass up this opportunity let's go ahead and discard all three of these red squares and now that's going to wipe all these out including two of these goblins these all go into the discard pile but still I think that is a large amount of threats that we now don't have to worry about at least until we reshuffle up this deck so let's go ahead and refill the void we have a green square a zombie a red triangle a green circle and then a green square overall a much Tamer void to deal with with that the witch player's turn is over and we move back to the brute they've decided to grab this bottom row right here this means they now have two of these green circles although we know that there are three of them are permanently out of the game already uh they now have one of these squares they also have this red triangle and for their main action it doesn't really make sense for them to use their green thing right here it says uh they can do a charge ability with just any three green and it says that they can draw a card for each wound they that they have and discard any Undead but right right now they only have one wound and it seems like the brute almost wants to get more of these lower level uh wounds so that they can activate their abilities better but still not be under fatigue so I think it makes sense for the brute player to just rest and get rid of this Goblin we of course need to refill this void probably should have done that first but that's not a big deal we have another skeleton and a piece of armor this one is really nice if you look down at the bottom it says that you have a permanent increase of one on your stamina and I think we might want to give this over to the witch so that they are able to have a stamina of four and be able to actually grab some of those goblins potentially and banish them out of the game but either way I'm getting a little ahead of myself The Brute player is now done with their turn they have seven cards so they don't have to discard anything and now the Bard gets to go after looking at all the different options that are available to The Bard player And discussing it with their companions unfortunately it's starting to look like although we'd love to have that armor permanently on the witch it might make more sense to have it on The Bard that they don't waste too many turns in uh exhaustion over here because well right now they have 1 2 3 four five damage that they've taken and their current stamina is four so that means if they rest on this turn they would go down to four and they would still be exhausted for the next turn but if they took this armor on this turn and rested then they would flip over and on the next turn they would actually be able to do something with all these cars they have available to themselves so because of that I think that uh we actually need to think more about right now and not about losing lots of turns to um The Bard just kind of sitting here doing nothing because as they're grabbing all these cards they're going to have to start discarding them which is really not something we want to do we want to make good use out of all of these Elemental cards we have in our hand so all those things add up to the bar player taking this row over here uh sorry this column and they now have three of these little uh green triangles they've got this blue they can slide this armor under here they are still exhausted unfortunately so they are going to have to rest they get rid of one of their lowest value uh Undead this means they're now at four and their overall stamina threshold is five they can flip this back over but also when we look over here we see they have 1 two 3 four five six seven eight oh actually we're good eight is perfect so they are not going to have to discard anything and with that their turn is over and the witch can go except I do have to refill the void got a little bit ahead of myself so it looks like we have another skeleton we've got a goblin and then we have this blue triangle well I think we have finally reached the turn where we're going to have the witch player actually do some banishing but they first have to take uh some cards from the void and the only way for them to be able to not become exhausted is to take this far left column so they're going to grab all three of these cards they now actually have four of these blue triang uh blue squares and now they're going to activate the offering down here so all three of these blue squares are going to go away and they now get to play one of their wounds to the banishing so this Undead is finally gone we have now gotten rid of four cards uh let's see I can kind of move that like that so we can see it's a level two and now we have to refill the void so we have a red triangle we've got a wand Ah that's the other kind of item and then a green triangle this wand right here is actually really nice it says that we can use this in place of any symbol card so it's essentially a wild card which really could help us out for having the correct set to potentially banish something when we need to with that the witch's turn is now over we can move up here to The Brute and we are almost halfway to Victory and we are a little over halfway through the deck for the first time but there's something I haven't mentioned yet once we go through this deck we are then going to shuffle in these werewolf cards which are level four so it's going to get much harder once we go through this deck the first time and unfortunately once we go through it one more time after that we'll put these nasty vampires in so it's going to get very difficult at the later stages of the game The Brute has a high stamina level and lots of life and they decide it makes sense for them to start taking some moons again especially considering their abilities really react well with that so they're going to take this middle column right here it's going to do three damage to them but they're also going to get this green Square so they now actually have two green circles they have two green squares and they have this one green triangle lots of different cards available to them we can refill the void we've got another Goblin we've got a blue square and then a green square for their action they've decide to activate green they don't quite have three of a kind yet but they've decided they're going to get rid of these three almost the same uh green cards in order to valuate charge this says that they can draw a card for each wound that they have and then they discard any Undead that they drew well they currently have two wounds and we probably want them to draw Undead because it just means they're immediately discarded and we don't have to worry about them but they got one just am easily little skeleton that's not too great although grabbing one of these triangles is nice because we already had two of those so I think all things considered that was an okay turn for the brute player they have six cards in their hand so they're good on the hand limit and we can now move over to The Bard they decided to grab these three cards down here that is going to give them a second blue triangle they now have four of these green triangles and then a green square they have so many green cards here we can immediately refill the void we've got a skeleton a blue triangle and another blue triangle that's pretty interesting and now the Bard who has tons of different cards in their hand gets to evaluate an ability they've decided it makes sense for them to activate charm so this is their uh second level green ability and it says they can choose a wound and then all players can discard wounds of the same type well they're going to do that they're going to choose this goblet level three un they are the only ones with this so it's not the most efficient thing in the world but getting rid of this from their area is difficult if you are doing it by resting so getting this out of the way is decent and they could potentially do this charm again on their next turn to wipe out a bunch of skeletons from people's hands if that is still a decent option so with that they are done with their action they're still at eight cards in their hand so we can move over to the witch player since they weren't able to grab this stamina uh increasing armor the witch player is going to be relegated to just banishing skeletons and zombies throughout this game because of their stamina level at three so I think then it probably makes sense for the witch to start hunting some more of these Undead especially when they can have a turn like this where they can take this entire bottom row it means they take one damage and now they have two of these blue triangles which is really quite nice they just need one more and if they need to they can ask nicely from The Bard player who has a couple of them and the bar player only banishes these green circles and honestly they should probably get rid of these uh um this specific type of card soon so they can go into the discard for when we reshuffle so that they can potentially do another big banish to get some more out of the deck but anyway the wish player has grabbed their three cards we now refill the void oh nice well there's another uh blue triangle we've got a green triangle and a green square they now have to take an action but they don't want to spend these three blue for just kind of nothing so they're going to do one of these top actions here and it seems like it makes the most sense considering there is a blue square out in the field that they do a little bit of a trade with The Bard player here so they can give this red circle they can take this uh blue square which is going to increase their options for banishing in the future and unfortunately this draw pile is getting really low and we have a lot of blue cards in our hands so we're going to probably try to get as many of these into the discard pile as we can before we reshuffle it it's not great to be floating all of this uh blue Power when the reshuffle happens although it's possible that we've waited a little bit too long but anyway the witches player is now done they are under the hand limit so the brute player can now play they decide to take this far left row and they're going to grab this one and they're going to use it this turn as well so that it goes into the discard pile before it gets reshuffled because you want to use this up to three times they now have three of these red triangles they do have one of these blue triangles but right away they can just put this over here because they are going to be using all three of these this wand as a wild and these two blue circles to activate their banish ability but I'm getting slightly ahead of myself let's go ahead and refill the void we've got red triangle blue circle and a red circle and it looks like just two cards left when we look at their player map we see that they have two different blue options the top one is Rage it says you can discard a card from the banishing to then Swap all Undead with cards from the discard pile so this actually moves your endgame clock backwards which isn't great but in the right situation it might get you out of a really bad bind and set up some really good combos but for now they're going to do Clarity they can play a red card from the void to the banishing by discarding three blue of the same kind the decision of which of these red cards to banish is not super important I guess they are potentially opening up options for a Undead to pop in and not such a great spot but they decide they're going to get rid of this red square so this is now banished we are now officially halfway through uh banishing all the cards we need and we're just about onethird the way through the game but again it's about to get much harder with those werewolves coming into the deck so after we got rid of that card we have to refill the spot we see we is another blue card that's unfortunate that so many of these blue cards are so backloaded in this one specific deck shuffle but that is just the way it is the brutes turn is now done so we can move to The Bard and after looking at some of the options they were thinking about maybe grabbing one of these goblins or maybe not they've decided they're going to go with a safe route for the moment they're going to grab all three of these over from the side so they now have two of these red circles they've got just a bunch of cards right here at the moment and now they're definitely going to be playing some of them but first we have to refill the void we see the last card is a red square and now we have nothing left in our drw pile so we get to shuffle this up but before we do we have to add in all of these terrifying level four werewolves so this is definitely going to mess things up for us once I've given it a good Shuffle we'll put them out on the board the B now uses an ability and they're going to use charm again just like last turn they're going to discard three green cards of the same type they're going to choose one uh type of wound that they have and then all players can discard all wounds of that type at the moment The Bard player only has one type and it's skeleton so they choose this and then all of the rest of the skeletons get discarded from everybody's wound pool don't worry the the witch player has some decent options to grab uh new minions and put them over here so they can be banished on their turn and it looks like specifically with a skeleton that just came out is going to line up pretty well for them so now we can slide all these things down and once again the um uh The Bard player is flirting with the discard limit they are at eight cards so they are fine and now we can go down to the witch they decide to grab this bottom row here which makes a lot of sense because it's going to get them a skeleton which they can then banish on this turn with the three of aind blue cards down here and they can put this over here let's go ahead and refill the void that's pretty good so far o a wand so far so good on pulling those werewolves just yet the witch now casts their offering they do it with these three same blue cards they can now play one of their wounds to the banishing and it's going to be the skeleton right here we're now over halfway there with six cards banished just four more to go it's now the brute player's turn and they thought about maybe grabbing one of these goblins because they do have such a high uh wound threshold but they also don't want to become exhausted because their abilities are pretty good and they have decided they are actually going to grab this far left column over here this means that they're not taking any damage but with these three cards they're actually going to uh use them to evaluate their slash ability but before we do that let's go ahead and refill the void we've got a skeleton a blue circle and then another Goblin once again by discarding three cards that are not the same symbol they can do slash which lets them uh discard one and dead from the void and then all cards that are adjacent to it so they decide to Target this skeleton right here it wipes out all of the adjacent cards which is two goblins so that's a pretty good deal and then we can refill we've got a zombie a skeleton and then a red triangle it's now The Bard's turn and they've decided to grab this far right column they're doing this just so they can grab a bunch of these red cards that also gets rid of this little skeleton here and most importantly the witch player told them that they really want to be able to grab this Central column here so they didn't want anything to happen that would potentially mess up the cards that were going to pop up over here they're going to grab these two get added into their hand and then we can refill for the void there is our first werewolf another zombie and a red circle up to this point of the game The Bard player hasn't used any of the red abilities but they have now decided they're going to use these three red circles here we see the top option which is just any three red cards says that all players can draw a card and they discard any Undead drawn so that's a pretty good ability but then down here have confuse it said that all players can place a card on top of an undead whenever an action is evaluated that all the players are going to do you start with the active player so that's going to be the Bard and they've decided to take this blue square because well they're doing blue activations much more rarely than the other players because there's is all about banishing these green uh Spirals and uh so they're going to just get rid of this and by getting rid of it they don't put it to the discard pile they put it on top of an undead so we can cover it over this and whenever you take a row or a column you just take all of the cards from that specific row or column so we're actually kind of making it a little bit safer out there for the Moment by covering up these cards next up the witch player can do this and they've decided to grab this uh green square because to a certain extent they're using this as a trade because the brute mentions they are interested in this green square so they're going to put this down over here so that on the brute player's turn they can actually draw this back up into their hand lastly The Brute player can cover up a card they've decided to take this blue card here because they already have a set of three of a kind on these Reds and they're going to have one with these uh green squares as long as they're able to grab that on their next turn so they're going to take this one they'll cover up the Goblins so for the moment the board just got a little bit nicer of course all those mean things are going to get uncovered again pretty darn soon with that the bar player is done they are under the hand limit so it moves over to the Witch and as planned they've decided to take this middle column right here it gets them a wand which is wild they also get this uh blue circle which is pretty good and more importantly they get to take this zombie which is a level two and their stamina level is three so they're still just barely fine this goes into their uh little board area and now we can refill the void there is another werewolf we're going to see quite a few of those soon I think we've got a green triangle and a zombie for their action the witch has decided to use the wand right away with these two blue squares this is going to activate offering for the third time in the game and they can take a wound that they had in their pile and banish it this is our seventh banish card only three more and we win the game with that the witch player is done and play now moves up to the brute player despite the brute being interested in this green square over here they see a more pressing um issue coming up with the a this werewolf that is already revealed and potentially the goblin that's down under here so they've decided they're going to grab this bottom row because it does reveal this Goblin it uh gives them one of these zombies which is pretty good because they now have two wounds and they're still underneath their stamina threshold these go into their hand we can now refill the void we see we have a skeleton and another Goblin and now for their ability they're going to use all three of these red triangles to activate frenzy it says they can discard an undead for each wound they have and they currently have two wounds obviously they would prefer to discard two werewolves with this and this one got covered up here but for now they're okay with discarding this one and then they can get rid of one of these two goblins and they decide to get rid of this one over here we can now refill from the void we got a red square and another red square nice maybe I didn't Shuff that quite enough all right that should probably be better play now moves to The Bard and they have looked at the void and they think they're okay with taking this one Goblin to kind of remove it from the board for the moment and they're going to get to take these as well it does uncover quite a bit of scariness out there on the board but it also is going to give them a green to play with over here and another blue card there's only one hole to fill from the void and it's a green triangle it's now time for them to take an action and they've decided to do in fire which is just any three green cards we see it says that all players can now swap a card from their hand with a card in the discard pile at the moment there are quite a few cards in this discard pile so it's going to start off with The Bard and they're going to look through and see if they find something that suits their fancy they decide to take this blue triangle and they're going to discard let's see they'll probably just get discard one of these red cards next up the witch looks through and they're going to grab this wand right here and they're going to get rid of this red triangle as well and lastly The Brute looks through they're going to grab this blue triangle right here and they're going to get rid of this red circle with that the B's turn is now over and the witch can now take their turn considering they currently have a green triangle and a blue circle and they look out here and they see a green triangle and a blue circle they're definitely going to take this middle row here also it gives them one of these zombies which they can fit in because they had no other wounds for the moment so these go on top here and we can refill from the void wow that's a lot of red squares available right now so now the witch player can take an action and thanks to The Bard for being so inspiring they were able to grab this wand and they can now use these two blue circles and this wand to make another set of three they could once again do an offering which is going to send their wound to the banish pile the witch player has been doing lots of work at this point they've banished three of these zombies and one skeleton in fact four out of the eight banishing so far have been cards at the witch was able to get rid of although the first three was one simple banishing option from The Bard here so I guess it's the brute that hasn't really been pulling their weight as much but they've been doing a pretty good job of keeping these clear out here on the board and they do have two of these blue cards so they do have options coming up to potentially get the last two done we have eight cards banished just two more to win the game with that the witch is done so it moves over to the brute and things are looking a little hairy we are just two banishing away from winning the game but these werewolves are really starting to come up the mix and that's not even counting for the fact that we're going to be seeing vampires relatively soon so when they look out here to these options it seems like the only way that they could not become um exhausted is to not take any Undead and no matter what there is an undead on every single row and every single column so when they consider that the uh brute player signs they're going to take one for the team they are going to go ahead and they're going to take let's see probably this row right here it's going to put this werewolf into their score pile their wound pile sorry so that they are now going to become exhausted because they have eight wounds and the threshold is five fortunately they have 12 life which is definitely good eight wounds would have killed either of the other two players and now we can refill this row we see a green diamond another werewolf and a skeleton since the brute is now exhausted they have to flip their player board over and they get to take an action and it's only limited to swap trade and rest and while resting does seem kind of nice the uh Bard is going to be in a similarly terrible situation if the board is just like this because once again there's an undead in every single Row in every single column and they are just one away from flipping over their board as well so because of that the brute has decided they're going to swap around two cards out here in the void and they're actually going to do this because it's going to allow these three red squares to be gravable by the B player and when they activate three red of the same type we can once again take cards from our hands and put them down on top of all these nasty Undead to at least push off the inevitable with these scary Undead being something we really have to deal with now at this point I'm starting to think our endgame condition might be having the barred player banish the last two green circle cards and we know they're in this deck because when we looked through the discard there was only one available and we've already discarded three so with two left remaining that would be the two we needed to win the game we just have to make sure that nobody dies before that actually happens and we have to make sure that the Bard does not become exhausted so they can actually execute these abilities here in the middle so with that The Brute is now done the bar player can now take their turn and we've kind of planned that all already so they are pretty much forced to grab these three over from the side they are going to be activating it but let's go ahead and pull from the void first and see just how terrifying it's going to be and I suppose that could have gone worse so just like planned The Bard player is going to discard these three red cards that are the same symbol to confuse so that all players can place a card on top of an undead The Bard player decides they're going to use this as an opportunity to do a trade by essentially taking this blue square putting it down there so that there is three of a kind available for the witch player to grab because well it's possible we why not get to both of those uh green uh cards those green circles for The Bard player also The Bard may become exhausted so having another alternate Outlet to Winning is probably a good thing so we're setting up for another banishing from the witch player and now the witch player can place down cards and they figure there's no reason not to get rid of one of these and put it down they'll put it right here so that it's in line and not only covers up a werewolf but uh there are both of these green triangles next to each other and lastly over here with the brute it doesn't seem like they'll be using this green triangle anytime soon as well they could have put it here so that somebody could grab three of a kind but it makes sense to protect the players once again over uh that werewolf right there so with that The Bard is now done with their turn and we move down to the witch just like we already planned it still makes sense for the witch to grab all three of these blue squares because it sets them up really well to do another banishing of course we need to do two more and we are kind of assuming that on another turn they'll be able to take cards from the middle such that they will have something to actually banish without putting themselves over into exhaustion but that sounds like later's problem for the moment we can go ahead and refill the void there is a goblin which is definitely not something we wanted to see and another blue square it's now time for the witch player to take their action and since it doesn't make sense for them to spend any of their cards they're going to do one of these top actions and it seems like with our wind condition being uh hopefully pulling out two of those green circles soon there's quite a bit of cards left in this deck for the U the bar player to be able to grab I think we should probably set things up so the B player can try and heal themselves as much as possible uh so in that case we should probably swap around these two things out here on the board this is going to allow the brute player to take this bottom row unfortunately it means that they're probably just going to be resting on their turn and um just hoping to avoid dying because that is another way that we could of course lose the game but I think that's probably the best thing thing we can do it's it's starting to look a little bit like the odds are against us we might be able to win this one but uh some of the cards have to come out the right way and we need to plan accordingly and make sure that we are putting ourselves in the best situation so I think this might be it for now let's go ahead and see how it plays out for us so with that the witch's turn is now done we move up to the brute and they currently have eight wounds on them in order to get lucky and pull those green circles out of the deck we need to make sure we're drawing cards that are not overlapped on top of others so let's go ahead and stick with that plan The Brute player is going to take both of these so they now have 10 damage on top of themselves which is certainly not looking too great for them they also get to take this blue square and put that into their area we get to pull from the top and see that's a blue circle a skeleton and a shield okay well Shields are certainly uh going to be nice to have uh to potentially deflect some of the larger enemies I think the other one is in here too so I forgot about those existing those might help us out a little bit uh now once this is refilled it's the brutes main turn and I think it just makes sense for them to just heal as much as possible Unfortunately they have to get rid of the lowest wound that they have so this skeleton is gone they're now down to nine health and it's the B player's turn they need to grab a row or a column and I think it makes sense for them to grab these middle ones and leave the shield available for the moment so these are going to go into their hand and potentially The Shield can be used on a turn when somebody grabs one of these werewolves so these three are going to come into the bar player's hand we only draw one from the top and it's a skeleton oh this is not looking too great for us out here if fun being honest uh but uh now it is time for the bar player to evaluate their turn there are currently no blue circles for them to banish unfortunately even if there was one I think we would be in a good spot to win this game because the witch player is going to be potentially able to Bish something that they take on their next turn so I think let's go ahead and have the bar player activate these three cards they could have all players swap a card from their hand with a discard pile but it seems like it's more important at the moment to discard all three of these to do the charm they choose a wound and it's going to be the Goblin and then all players can remove that uh same type unfortunately they're the only ones with that type but it's going to keep them able to potentially survive to another round the bar turn is now done so we move over to the Witch and it's time for them to take a row or a column and the only thing that they can do that won't immediately make them exhausted and therefore unable to banish a card is to take this bottom row which is really unfortunate because the shield could be used to block one of these really nasty creatures but they would choose not to use it so they could actually banish the skeleton that they' be drawing in and it kind of wastes The Shield but that is the order in which the cards came out so that's what we have to deal with so they're going to go ahead and grab all of these down here we can refill the void we see oh there's another Shield that is in a much better position we have a green triangle and a blue circle so still no green circles but it could have been worse it could have been more Undead at this point since they now have a wound I think it does make sense for us to hedge our bets and just hope that we can survive to the B players turn and also hope that one green circle comes out before they actually have to play so let's go ahead and discard all three of these blue cards that are the same value we see this is going to be yet another offering which is going to send this skeleton to the banishing we're just one banish card away from Victory and we are also super close to defeat the witch player is now done so we go over to the brute and they currently have nine wounds on them which means if they took uh three or more wounds then they would die and we would all lose the game so when we look out over here to our options there is only one option if they take any of these uh sets they would take too much and die so they have to take this far left column because with it they will grab the shield which will allow them to discard this zombie while they're actually taking it so they're only going to be taking this one skeleton so they're back up to 10 wounds so they are still alive that's essentially what they're being right now is a meat Shield we can now refill this is also good because I guess it opens up a lot of spots there are not that many cards left in the deck so let's see here oh nice so there is one of the two green circles Let's see we got a blue circle and lastly we have a zombie it's once again looking good for us as The Bard gets to take their turn they have one wound and they have a total of five stamina so they can take this bottom row right here which brings them up to three wounds but that's not enough to exhaust them and now now when they add these into their hand we can refill and we see we have another blue circle we've got another zombie and oh there is the other green uh Circle so this actually works out really well we're going to Overkill because now that that's refilled in we can spend all three of these it's going to activate the performance ability which they've only done one other time in the game it allows them to banish all of the green circle specific cards from the banishing that happens to be both of these right here so when we put these over here we've now gotten up to 11 ban cards total and with that we were able to win the game it looks like there were only these four card oh my gosh they were all bad guys there were still two werewolves left in there so I did do think we got a little bit lucky there with a win but doesn't matter that is a win and with that we've completed a full game of the banishing I hope you enjoyed this playthrough my main goal here was to try and show how you will need to be planning with your uh companions around the table in order to do well at this game and how you can sink many of these rather powerful and asymmetric abilities together like one character into the next to do some pretty good combos to clear things out and try to survive long enough to banish those 10 cards this was certainly a very close game it was right down to the wire it could have gone one way or the other and we ended up pulling out the wind and part of that has to do with the shuffle of the cards in the deck but another thing to keep in mind is that we were trying to be uh efficient as we played the game like doing big vanishings with The Bard character to get several of those cards out for just three blue cards which are a um diminishing resource uh as you're playing the game I guess not diminishing but especially the way we played it with that first Shuffle not having so many blue cards go right back into the deck that meant that there was a much higher um variety of those um the undead that were kind of plaguing us and obviously at the end of the game there were tons of them out there on the board and I'm pretty sure that uh if we had pulled those cards out slightly differently that um even the witch player might not have been able to survive their turn certainly The Brute would not have survived their turn so we needed to win on that Bard turn or that witch turn and I didn't see a good uh viable option for winning uh with the witch there uh I will say that with eight different roles that you can choose from I think you will go deeper into the game some games and um quicker and burn out fast uh in others uh for instance we didn't even get to see the vampires get shuffled into the deck we were right down there at the end of that second Shuffle but I have seen vampires go in in um a different play of this game just with characters that had a little bit more longevity to them but were not quite as explosive with just dropping uh three cards into the banishing at once like The Bard was able to do for instance so yeah I think this was a pretty good uh showing of the game you got to see how the uh deck changed as you played as you shuffled new cards in and also as you banished cards out uh as you remove those Undead it's going to be slightly easier for you as you Shuffle new ones in but other uh characters like The Bard and the brute in this case actually banished the elemental cards which made it even harder and the more you banish those because it seemed like uh they uh the deck got more and more uh bad guys in it compared to all the good cards and that's certainly a challenge that you're racing against with a clock so I think that wraps up all my thoughts on this specific play and as always I'd like to thank everyone who's been
