Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the discriminating gamer. You know, I went and bought a new pair of gloves and I only got lefts in the pair. On one hand, it's great. On the other hand, it's just not right. Today, we're taking a look at the Lord of the Rings. Now, this is the adventure book game. Now, Lord of the Rings, you got to get that ring to Mount Doom. You got to throw it in. You got to complete it. And now what this does is the adventure book series is it's a book and you're going to slowly be working your way towards Mount Doom through a series of chapters. Each each page you open up is going to be a different chapter. You flip it and you go to the next one. Okay. Um I know they got a couple different themes for them. The Lord of the Rings is kind of I mean I love the Lord of the Rings. So it's kind of the theme that I'm really super interested in. So I tell you what, let's go down to the table. Let's open this one up and let's see what's on the inside.

All right, folks. Here we go. This is The Lord of the Rings. This is the adventure book game. Now, this is for ages 10 and up. One to four players. All right. And I think even on the back, it tells us we're looking at about 20 minutes per chapter. Now, every chapter is going to be a different page in this book. Okay. And as you can see, we're going to have some plastic minis for all of our characters. All right. And like I said, published by Ravensburgger. All right. Take a look at that. Now, let's see if we can get this thing opened up. So, it looks like we're going to have our favorite little sticker. So, let's be really careful here that we don't um cut into the box. And I'm going to get these stickers off here just as soon as I can. Okay. And usually, you know, like I said, you just if once you get these games, if you're really careful, as you can see, you can actually peel these things off nice and slowly. Doesn't do any damage to the box. Okay. The longer you leave them on there, then I've seen where they kind of get really gummy and stuff like that, but that's okay. I really don't mind the mind the stickers at all. As long as they come off fine.

There you go. Now, let's get this thing opened up. Let's see what this book looks like. That's what I'm excited about. Ah. Okay. So, first thing we're going to get is we're going to get a rule book. Let's slide this off to the side. I like to set these rule books down the table. Makes a little bit easier for me. Now, here we go. We're going to journey to Mount Doom. Resist corruption. Avoid the evil Sauron and his black riders on your mission to save the world from evil. work together to help the fellowship destroy the one ring. All right, we're looking at an eight-page book and it looks like chapter five is and or chapter eight or six, seven, actually five through eight is going to be on the back of the book. So, does not look like we're going to have a lot of rules to this game which is actually really cool and I don't know if you saw all that. We'll go back to it. Okay, so here's all the components for the game. Looks like each chapter is going to have some different components.

So, we'll figure those out here in a second. Now, we're going to have our setup. All right, so we're going to start with chapter one. And so that's how this is going to walk you through. It's going to walk through that chapter one setup. Got your game overview, your story cards, your completing challenges. All right. Our special cards, completing chapters in the game. Got some solo rules if you want to play it. Okay. Um but yeah, you're just basically doing something a little bit different with your hand. You can bookmark your game. You got some chapter FAQs, which is really nice. And oh, looks like that's what this is. This is going to be FAQs for the different chapters. Okay, there you go. Very cool. Now, credits. The game design looks like Jason Little and Marcus Ross. System design is actually Ryan Miller. There you go. I always like to point those out if I can find them. Sometimes it's kind it's getting harder and harder to find the designers of some of these games. Their names just need to be plastered on the front of these boxes if you ask me. Okay, let's take a look at what this adventure book's going to have to offer. Now, so let's get that out of the way. Okay, I'll pan this to the side a little bit. So, we got the adventure begins. You're going to have your setup, some chapter rules. Over on the side, you have some more additional information as well. Okay. And there's your book. So, same over here. You always looks like you got your rules and your setup over on this side. And anything special that's going to be needed is going to be over here on the right hand side. And then you have your map.

All right. There we go. Continuing the same. What you need set up a I don't need to keep repeating myself. All right. Now, I will say this. I don't know if you can see this very well, but these are actually really thick um pages over here. Um so it's uh really nice. Absolutely love it. Okay, the last March of the Ins chapter five. All right. Very nice. Okay, the Battle of Helms Deep. I guess I don't need to quite panic quite that far, do I? There we go. All right, our challenges that we have to do. Okay, Shellab's layer. Very nice. That's seven. And it looks like we have one more, which is eight, which Ah, there we go. Okay, now here we go. We got the final battle. Looks like there is a lot going on here. This looks really interesting and really unique.

And then our side challenges. Very cool. I can't wait to give this one a try. That looks really, really nice. Okay, now and you got what, eight challenges? You're looking at like 160 minutes to play this whole thing. theoretically, if it's, you know, what, 20 minutes per chapter. So, very nice. Now, it looks like all of our tokens are going to be pre- punched for us. So, let's just kind of pull a bunch of these out. We can take a look at them. So, I know we're going to have to go through the bag and figure out what's what. Okay. Um, get them organized for the different chapters, but probably is not going to be that hard to do that. But, as you can see, these are some nice thick They actually feel a little thicker than normal. Okay. But there's some really, really good tokens in there. Good quality tokens is what I'm trying to say. All right, all of our figures.

Let's take a look at these. Now, these are just going to be color coded so that way you can tell who's who. All right, without a wash or anything, it's kind of hard to see some of that detail. He looks like he's leaning a little far forward, but I bet if you put that in some hot water, he's just going to stand right up and be just fine. Okay, this softer that's the thing I like about this softer material is you can always easily fix them. Okay, take a look at all these guys. Got legalist there. Looks like Mary was the the other one. Oh yeah. See that axe? See how that's kind of I don't know if you can tell, but see how it's kind of got a little bend to it? Little hot water thing will straighten right out. Okay, but for the most part, as long as they're standing kind of straight upright and everything's not too bad, I'm usually okay with them. Doesn't matter. See, he he can stand up just a little bit as well. All right. And who do we have here? Yes. Yeah. Sword. Sword. Really?

He That's That's a pretty pretty flexible sword, though. Man, that's a pretty flimsy sword, but there you go. All right. Hope you could actually see those. All right. It wasn't too blurry. Uh sometimes when I get too close to my camera, everything gets a little bit blurry. All right. Now, we're going to have some reference cards, which are going to come in our little bag. I always love it when a game gives us reference cards. We need reference cards. Okay. So there you go. Probably didn't need to take them out of the bag for it, but it's just easier to see. So you got your movie storytelling, you got your draw, your plot, and your discard. A little note down the bottom. There you go. Very nice. Reference cards are always handy, especially when you're trying to teach the game to somebody new. Okay, give us reference cards. We want reference cards. All right, what do we got? This is the Eye of Sauron cards. All right, and what's on the back side?

Nothing. All right. And I think that is actually everything that goes in there. Okay. So, let's put this back in here. And it looks like we're going to have two sets of cards. We got some plot chart, the final battle. Okay. And then these ones here. So, let's go ahead and start with this one. All right. Now, see if we can actually get them open. There is a spot somewhere. If I can grab it. There we go. Okay. Now, looking at the back of the cards, it looks like all of these are going to be the same type of cards. So, I'm just going to kind of thumb through them really fast. Okay. And as you can see, it looks like these are probably going to you're going to draw cards. I'm guessing it's going to tell you what you're going to be able to do, where you can go. Okay. You got your horn. You got your foot. All right. There you go. You got your sword or dagger.

All right. Your looks like the eye. H I can't even remember what this is called. Your little little drink. and the one ring. Okay. Now, if I remember right, a lot of these cards are used for movement or something like that, I think, as well, too. I have seen some stuff um on these adventure book games. So, um there's a part of my back of my brain that kind of tells me about them. I'm trying to remember, but ah I play so many different games, I have a hard time remembering. All right. Now, I am actually going to take these and put them off to the side for right now. And these ones as well. And let's finish looking at Oh, no. These are actually different. Oh, see, got a little dice right there. And then these are the same book cards as right there. So, let's see what we have. So, to finish these ones up. Oh, looks like we might have some different characters. Got the wisdom of Elron, Arwin's Love.

All right. The great eagle, Gladril's hair, the mirror. Owen Cloaks. uh Shadowfax and Bilbo's Jouro. Okay, so that's gonna complete those. Now, let's take a look at these ones. This is that one, two, three on the back. So, you're going to have one, two, and three. Imagine that. They're just going to be numbers all the way up to 15. So, guess what? There's 15 cards in this deck. If you haven't figured that one out, I'm sure you probably have. All right. Now, looks like we got some corruption cards. Um Oh, and each one is going to be a little bit different, too. So, take a look at those. Okay. All right. Very cool. Very nice. Now, what do we have here? We have plot cards. Eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, and one. So, the adventure begins, the final battle. So, these are going to be just the different plot cards that you're going to have. All right. So, we'll take a look at all those.

All right. Six. One more. And eight. And there you go. And that's it. That folks is what you're going to get inside of this. Okay. Now, like I said, the adventure book games. I do like how they have these in the book and you're just kind of kind of roaming around and take care and all everything. This is your map. Everything's set up. You just put some different things off to the side and everything just goes on top of that. Absolutely love it. Fits back in the box nicely. Ah, yeah. Can't wait to get this one played. Looks really good. There you go. The Lord of the Rings Rings adventure book game from Ravensburgger. Yeah, looks fantastic to me. Let's head up top. Let's close this out. All right, folks. There you go. That is the adventure book game. Uh the Lord of the Rings from Ravenburgger. And you know, it's it looks like it's a really light game. It's only what 20 minutes basically per chapter. There's what, eight chapters in it. So, it's not going to take a whole long time to get through this one, but it looks like it's a fun little game. Okay, this is something I definitely would like to see about possibly playing with like my grandkids or something like that because what is age 10? They got a couple years to go before uh they're really old enough for it. But I can play that with them and you know they can help in making some of the decisions. Just let them know what's going on. And you know what? They're actually getting pretty good at uh coming up with different things as well.

But there you go. Lord of the Rings, the adventure book game looks absolutely fantastic. Well, thank you once again for joining us today. Who are you asking?

Yeah, sure. Let's do it. Where?
