Duel of Meloch Playthrough - Before You Play
Transcript
Hi everyone, my name is Money
and I'm Naveen from Before You Play
and today we're going to be doing a playthrough of a game called Duel of Melo.
Yes, this game is designed by Jamie Stegmire and published by Stonemire Games who are helping sponsor this playthrough. Now, in this game, players are going to be taking on the roles of an asymmetric faction from a game called Scythe or an asymmetric faction from a game called Expeditions with the ultimate goal of trying to put out four stars before your opponents. Each player is going to be using components from both Scythe and Expeditions as well as their respective rules.
That's right. This is a dueling game for one to two players that combines both scythe and expeditions and it plays in about 45 minutes. And so this is actually a standalone title. So you do not need to own either Scythe or Expeditions in order to play this one. And you can actually combine the factions with either of those titles and vice versa if you do own them. In fact, you can also play Scythe versus Scythe and Expeditions versus Expeditions. And so today, as usual, we are going to start with a teacher of the game that focuses primarily on how the games are intertwined in this version of the game and then we'll go straight into our two-player playthrough. If you'd like to jump around, we'll include timestamps in the description below.
Now, if you all do us a big favor and turn on your cling on subtitles, if you make any mistakes, we can of course add those corrections there or in a pin comment. And lastly, if you like these kind of videos and you want to see more in the future, please consider subscribing.
And with that, we are ready to begin. So, if you'd please direct your attention to the center of the table, we're all set up here for a two-player game of Duel of Melo. Welcome to the desert. And so, like we're mentioning in this game, one player plays as a faction from Scythe and the other a faction from Expeditions. And our ultimate goal is to be the first player to put out four stars on the triumph track. And so over the course of the game, we are going to be following the rules of our own game, which means I'm going to be playing my faction as if I'm playing Scythe and Naveen will be playing as if he's playing Expeditions. But there are some exceptions, of course, especially when it comes to the rules surrounding combat, as well as some added elements that are specific to this game. Now, before we continue, we do have to mention a couple of things. The first thing is that these two games are their own heavy games. So, we are not going to be able to go through all of the rules surrounding each game, but we will give you an overview as to how the factions generally play so that if you haven't played either, or maybe you've only played one of the games, you can still try to follow along with our playthrough. The other thing is that when playing this game, you should technically be seated across from each other. Now, we are in a unique position where we need to be seated next to each other. Yep.
So, we'll point out the implications of that as we play the game, but just so you're aware, right now the orientation is that of the expedition's player. So, this is primarily going to be when reading the triumph track because our goals are going to be different depending on which faction you're playing as, as well as the power and popularity track, which is specific to the scythe player. Now, in general, the way that these games work is that in Scythe, each player plays as a faction, and they are represented by one character who starts at their home base along with two starting workers who start the game on the board. Over the course of the game, I'll be able to deploy up to four of my mechs. I'll be building up to four of my buildings, enlisting recruits, upgrading my board, and going into combat with the other player. And so, Scythe is a big efficiency engine through and through. On the other hand, Expeditions is a more card-based game in which over the course of the game, you'll only have access to these three core mechanisms, which are moving to the various hexes, gathering by activating the abilities on those hex's, and playing a card from your hand in order to gain resources and activate its abilities. And so unlike Scythe, which has very minimal card play, Expeditions is going to be heavily dependent on the cards that you're able to collect and utilize, as well as the various colored workers that you also use to your advantage. Now, in Duel of Melo, the goal is very simple, and it is to be the first player to put out four stars on the triumph track. That is it.
There are no points in the game. As soon as you are able to do so, you win immediately. Now, the catch is that each player's side of the triumph track will have different goals that pertain specifically to your game. And as soon as you're able to put out a star claiming one of those goals, it now makes the goal on their side no longer available.
Yeah. So, if Mo'Nique was to put out a star here, she has eight workers is what she's indicating. If I was able to accumulate six workers, I would not be able to put out a star there.
Right. And each goal category is going to be the sort of the same application in both games. So then starting with the Scythe player. Again, if you're familiar with Scythe, this is a totally new faction, and we'll explain all of our faction abilities right before we start the playthrough. But in general, the way that these Scythe factions work is that on my turn, I'm going to put my player piece on one of the four sections of my player board. And that is going to be the pairing of actions I'll be able to take on my turn. Now, each section is a combination of a top and a bottom row action. And on your turn, you can take the top row followed by the bottom row action. Just one of them or neither. But if you take both of them, you have to go top first followed by the bottom row.
Now, the top row actions are going to be the four sort of base actions in the game. And they are going to be moving around the board producing resources on the various hex's because each hex produces a specific type of resource and this is going to be only for the scythe player. Trading for resources and bolstering which gains you power which we'll need for combat. As for the bottom row actions, these are going to be the powerful actions that we will need to take in order to actually complete these goals. And each action requires a specific combination of resources. So this is why the resource management inside is very important. And these actions include paying metal to deploy a mech. And each faction has four different mechs. And each time you deploy a mech, you'll also unlock its unique ability. So this is going to be things such as being able to cross the rivers, which in this game there are two rivers on specifically this side of the board. There's also a mech that allows you to move faster and then a couple of mechs that are unique to my faction, which again we'll explain right before we start. The next type of bottom row action allows me to build these four different types of buildings. And each building allows me to do a different thing. So, I'll explain those as we play as well. Moving on, we also have the bottom row action that requires us to pay food in order to enlist a recruit, which is basically putting out these tokens and gaining a bonus on our board.
And now for the rest of the game, each time I take that bottom row action, I also gain that bonus. In regular Scythe, you also get that bonus if any of your neighbors takes that bottom row action. But for anybody who is familiar with the game, you do not get that neighbor bonus specifically when playing this game. And this last action over here allows me to upgrade my board by moving a cube from the top row, making that action better, and moving it to a bottom row space, making the bottom row action cheaper.
Yes, because inside, everything you see in red is what you pay, and everything in green is what you gain or earn.
That's right. And what makes this truly an efficiency and engine building game is that each turn you are required to move your pawn to a different action. So unlike you are playing the specific faction that allows you to take the same action multiple times, you must take different actions from turn to turn. And so that's the general idea when it comes to the scythe faction. Now again, this is a very very general overview of the player faction. But a really important difference in this game is how you initiate combat and also just combat in general. So we'll talk about how that works later. And so the last thing is that in addition to producing and trading for these four different types of resources, we'll also be gaining power, which is this symbol, popularity, which are the hearts, and coins. And that's going to be very important because these are also three different categories on the triumph track. Now, expeditions, you are playing a completely different game than Scythe, but you are going to see a lot of similar iconography as the games are very similar in that sense uh in terms of art style. But in this game, you basically have uh an action area with an indicator to say which actions you can actually take. So, the way the game works is you have this cube that starts off the board and basically uh on your first turn, you're going to move it here and these arrows indicate what actions you can actually take. You can move your mech, you can play a card that's from your hand, or you can gather whatever uh resources or actions are actually on the hex that you are uh currently standing on. So, for your very first action of the game, or your very first turn, you're going to take your cube that's on this refresh space and move it to this central location. And you're able to take any of these three actions or all three of these actions in any order that
you wish. So, you can move, you can play, or you can gather. After that, from there on forward, you must move this cube onto one of these three spaces, covering them up. So, let's say I cover up play. And then you would take the other uncovered actions, which would be move and gather in this particular uh instance. After that, on your next turn, you have to pick up your cube and then block off another space, revealing two other ones that you get to take. Now, eventually, you will need to refresh at some point. So, you'll take the cube and move it onto that starting refresh spot. And that basically allows all your cards that you've already played to go back into your hand and get your workers back uh unexhausted.
Yeah. And it basically restarts the cycle of actions again. So then after the turn after taking a refresh, then you'd move the cube back here, take all three actions, and that is sort of the cycle of the expedition's player. Now, unlike the Scythe faction who has a character up to four mechs and a slew of workers, the expedition's player only has one character. It is a single mech that is going to be traveling around the board. When taking the move action, you'll be required to move anywhere from one to three spaces away. And just a little bit about the board, there are two lakes in the middle here. There are also two rivers. Neither player is allowed to enter a space with a lake, but the rivers are going to be specific to the scythe player. The expedition's player can ignore those. They are however required to pay attention to these tokens. As the expeditions player, these are considered to be map tokens.
And as the scythe player, they are encounters. And if you're familiar with Scythe, you'll know that whenever your character ends their turn on a space with one of those, then you'll draw an encounter card and sort of read what it does and choose an option. As for the expeditions player, in the original game, the board is comprised of hex's that are face down. Now, in this game, all of the hex's are revealed. But anytime your mech enters a hex that has a map token, you are required to stop your movement.
Yeah. So, as we said, we have one to three spaces to move. If I really wanted to move to this space, I can't do that on that first turn because there is a map token there.
And over the course of the game, some cards may require you to spend map tokens, but also for the expeditions player and the side player, actually, collecting these maps and encounter tokens is a triumph track category. And that's essentially how movement works. It is very straightforward. Now, the next main action is the gather action. And this allows you to resolve the benefit of the hex where your mech is. And that's going to be the benefit that's at the bottom of the hex.
So like this one, this one here, this one over here.
And we won't be able to explain every single one. But in general, anytime you see a colored uh person outline, this corresponds to a worker, you get to take that colored worker from the supply. And as you'll see, they are extremely useful for when it comes to playing cards. Some hexes will give you resources, which for the expeditions player is going to be in the form of power and guile. And some effects will allow you to draw cards. Now, on the map, there will always be two face up cards that are in the lake, and those are specifically for the expeditions player.
Yeah, as the scythe player, you will never deal with these cards at all.
Acquiring these cards is absolutely key for the expeditions player because play is one of your three actions, and that pertains to specifically playing these cards from your hand. Just so you know, some effects that allow you to draw cards will now also allow you to draw a combination of cards from the discovery deck as well as the combat deck. And if you're familiar with Scythe, you're probably familiar with the concept of combat cards, but this combat deck is entirely new for Duel of
Melo. So, you cannot use the combat cards from Scythe. This is specific to this particular game.
And finally, we have the third type of action, which is play. And play allows you to play a card from your hand, which is going to be any cards that are to the left of your player board, placing it to the right of your playerboard. And when doing so, this gains you whatever the resource is at the top lefthand corner, which in this example is power. And a lot of cards also have an additional uh bonus if you meet its minimum requirement. And so in the example of this companion over here, if Naveen has at least one star out, then he gains an additional power, etc. In addition, each card also has an effect at the bottom of the card that you can immediately resolve if you can place the corresponding colored worker on the card.
Yeah. So that's why it's important for me to go around to these different hexes and gather these workers so that I can actually use them for the benefits on my card. Now, I do start the game with one hero worker, which is this one right here. And they represent basically a wild color. They can be any single color whenever playing a card. Once you play them, they of course go on top of the card, and they can't be used until you basically rescue them or take a refresh action.
And that is generally how the expeditions players turn works. Now, in expeditions, there is actually a slew of other types of actions in the game. It's just that they are embedded amongst the different cards. So, you have to find cards that have them as effects in order to actually take those actions.
Yeah, there's a lot of terminology associated with these types of actions and they're going to show up and as they show up, we'll basically explain them.
But we will go over a few of the key actions right now. The first of which is the boast action. So, unlike the scythe player who as soon as I meet a goal, I can immediately put out a star, the expedition's player needs to take a boast action in order to actually put out your stars, right? So Naveen could be in possession of six workers, but if he doesn't have a way of taking a boast action, then he cannot actually put out a star for that category.
Now, my particular faction has an ability that I can use once per turn that can help me with boasting, but we'll talk about that as we start the game.
In addition to boasting, the other main actions have to do with the three different types of cards that you'll find in the game. In this Discovery deck, there are quest cards which require you to find a solve action in order to solve it. And the way that these quest cards works is at the top right hand corner, it shows a location on the board. So this is going to be either hex one or six. If you're familiar with expeditions, you'll know that there's typically only one location there. But in duel specifically, you'll have an option between two. And in order for you to solve a quest, you need to move your mech to either hex one or six.
If I showed up here,
and then take a solve action. And when doing so, you'll actually tuck the card underneath the top of your board. And solving quests is one of your goals. So,
so you have to acquire the cards that are quest cards.
Yes.
Find the hex, pay the associated cost. If you can do that three times and then boast and beat your opponent before they get 10 popularity.
Yeah.
Then you can put a star there.
In addition to quests, there are also meteorites, which is this type of card here. Meteorites need to be melded. So, you need to find a meld action in order to do so. When melded, each meteorite shows a benefit that you get to resolve each time you melt a meteorite, which means if it's the first time you do it, then you tuck it under your board here. And this one says, "Gain $1 per star you have placed. If you do it again, then you'll get to activate this again as well as the new meteorite."
Yeah. So, they basically compound as you do it. Uh, one thing to note is you can only do this four times. uh all the different areas that we're going to talk about where cards go, you can only do it four times as the expeditions player.
Now, the third type of discovery card, we actually don't have out on the board right now, but they are item cards. And item cards need to be upgraded. And the thing about item cards is they always have some sort of ongoing ability that is active as long as you have a worker here. Now, if you upgrade an item, then this also gets tucked to the side of your player board here. And then now that ongoing ability will always be active. In addition, specifically on our side of the triumph track, this is one of your goals. You want to upgrade three items. And the last main type of action is the vanquish action. And this typically allows the expedition player to gain these corruption tokens which are stacked on certain hexes here. But in this specific game, it'll also allow you to initiate combat, which we'll also talk about in a second.
Yes. The general concept of vanquishing is basically wherever your mech is, if you're going to be taking a vanquish action, you would spend the corresponding uh resources, which would either be guile or power depending on which color is at the top, and you would spend that amount that's depicted on the actual token itself, and then you possess that corruption,
right? So, the point of vanquishing is basically to collect these corruption tokens because this is going to be one of the goals in the triumph track. Naveen wants to have seven of them. And there's also cards that allow you to spend these as a type of currency to do other things in the game as well.
In addition, when taking the vanquish action for removing corruption tokens, you can actually do this as many times as you'd like in that one action as long as you have the resources to spend,
right?
And if ever you remove the bottommost token on a hex, this actually reveals a new benefit on that hex which you get to take immediately. And now whenever you take a gather action there, it's going to be an additional benefit for you to use. And that's essentially it. That is generally how the expeditions faction works. Now again, all the specifics we'll talk about as we play. The last thing which is a really important aspect of this game is combat. Now in expeditions, I don't believe there's combat at all. And in Scythe, combat is very automatic. As soon as you enter a hex that contains another player's uh either character or mech, that initiates combat. In this game, it is not like that. It is actually very intentional. In order for the expedition's player to initiate combat, they need to be in the same hex as the scythe player's character or one of their mechs. And they must take a vanquish action. So that is the other use of vanquishing.
When taking that action, you can either use it to gain corruption or to initiate combat. And just as a side note, if ever the expedition's player enters a hex that only contains the scythe player's workers, nothing happens. The workers stay. But now the expedition's player controls that hex, which means the scythe player cannot do anything with the hex. You cannot produce on it and you cannot use any resources that are there. As for the scythe player, in order to initiate combat, I need to be in the same hex as the expedition's mech. And I have to decide to initiate combat after ending a movement action. And even though starting combat is made in conjunction with taking a movement action, the side unit in the expedition player's hex did not have to move that turn. The point is that it is no longer automatic. I must decide when to do so. Now, the way that combat works in the game is very similar to the way that it works inside. Each player has their own combat dial. And basically, at the start of combat, we must decide how much power we would like to contribute to this battle. And it's going to be maximum seven, assuming you have at least seven power.
And for me, as the expeditions player, I would be basically spending my power, which is the orange resource here. In addition, for each nonworker unit you have on that hex, you can contribute one combat card from your hand. Now, because the expedition's player only has one unit, they'll only ever be able to contribute one combat card. And combat cards in the game look like this. They have a power value at the top lefthand corner, which you will add to the amount of power that's on your dial, but they also have an effect at the bottom, which will come into play when revealed. Alternatively, combat cards can be used in a different way if you don't want to use them for combat, and they are for gaining whatever is at the top right hand corner. And so, as an example, on my turn, instead of using this card for combat, I can spend it to gain a worker. And so, there are a couple of of different effects that you'll see on these cards. Now, when both players are ready, we will simultaneously reveal our dials as well as our cards, and we'll add up the power values, and whoever has the more value wins the combat.
Simple math. In the case of a tie, the attacker wins combat unless the card says otherwise. So, the attacker will also resolve the effects of their combat cards before the defender does. And whoever wins a combat gets to place their star immediately on the triumph track, including if it were the expedition's player. So, this is the one exception to needing to find a boast action. If you win combat, you can immediately place out your star. Now, whoever loses the combat must now retreat, moving their pieces back to their home base. And just like inside, if you've contributed at least one power, whether it's via a combat card or through your power dial and you lost, as a constellation, you get to draw a combat card from the deck. Now, the last thing before we get started are these meloss. Each time your opponent places out their first, second, or third star as a constellation for you, you get to draw a meal card. And so, let's just say as an example, Naveen put out one of his stars. Then, as a constellation, I get to put out a melo card. And there are two sides to this card. One side is going to face you and the other side your opponent. So, you want to orient this in whichever uh way you'd like as your benefit. During setup, we'll draw one to start the game. And we don't actually benefit from this yet. But with this drawn card, you'll then cover up one of the two spaces that are on the last played meal card. And afterwards, all benefits that are pointing towards you, you get. And your opponent gets nothing because they got a star. Yep.
So, that's better. Now, in the future, if I were then to put out a star, then Naveen would do the same thing. He would draw a melo card. He would orient it whichever way he'd like, and then he would cover up the last played card.
Yeah. So, then I might want to do something like this,
gaining him both of these benefits, which is a power and also another refresh action. And that's essentially it. That is generally how you play the game. Anything else we didn't discuss, we'll discuss as we play. And so, for now, we'll get cleaned up and we'll get started with our playthrough.
Okay, we are all set up. We are ready to go. Now, Mo'Nique today will be playing as the scythe player. I will be playing as the expeditions player. And in this particular game, the expeditions player always goes first.
Yes. And because we are playing with entirely new factions, let's just explain who we are and what we do, shall we?
Sure.
The new solid faction is Constantinople. And so my ability here is called leverage. Once per turn, I can discard one unplaced star to gain a resource of my choice, or I can pay a resource to regain a discarded star. Now, I start the game with six stars, and we only have to put out four of them, which means two of them will be a free resource. But if ever I need to borrow just because I really need a resource in the moment, then I can do so as long as I pay a resource to get it back.
As for my mech abilities, of course, I have Riverwalk, which lets me move across rivers, specifically to farms and forests. So, if you've never played sides before, I can't just move across these rivers. So, at the start of the game, I will not be able to traverse those hex's. But as soon as I build my Riverwalk mech, from then on, I can move across rivers, but only to specifically farms, which are hex's that have the food symbol, and forests, which are hex's that contain wood. Alternatively, I have a mech that has a warp ability. And this allows me to move from a territory to any territory of the same terrain type, but it must be unoccupied, so I could not teleport directly to Naveen's piece.
That seems fair to me. I also have the ve ability which allows me to refresh my action token after combat. And so the refresh ability is new to the scythe player. This basically allows me to remove my pawn token from its current action and place it on a different one.
So if I really wanted to say take the same action multiple times uh back to back, then I can do that when refreshing. Now, if for example, the combat was on my turn and it was because I moved taking the top row action, I could move my pawn token to a different action space and now take its bottom row action. So, it really just depends on when I uh do the refresh action. And finally, of course, I have speed, which allows me to move one additional hex per movement. And as this faction, I'll start the game with three popularity and two power, both of which exist on the same track, as well as five coins and two combat cards. In this game, we ignore the objectives. As for me, as this expedition faction, I am the Voyager faction, and my basic ability here is once per turn, I may trash one corruption to either upgrade, meld, or boast. And again, boast is how I can put out stars. So, if I'm in possession of uh these tokens
once per turn, I can basically trash it, get rid of it to do one of those three things, which is very, very useful.
Yes. Because again, those three actions are extremely important for being able to meet his goals.
Yep. I also start the game with two power, two guile, two coins, and also my hero, that wild worker. Now, the two starting cards that are in my hand, which is this face up section here, is my character and my companion. my character uh nick day basically allows me to refresh all other workers or I can take a solve action. So again, refresh is if I have people over here with workers on them, I can get those workers back so that I can redeploy them for other uh cards
or you can take a solve action. So you have a solve right off the bat.
Yeah, solve again is how you go on those quests uh go to the specific hex, pay the resources or items in the far right side and then tuck the card here.
And there's a quest right there.
There's a quest there. So, if I can get that card, then that's a way for me to do something.
I believe there are ways for me to sweep, which basically removes these cards, but I'll have to find them.
Yep. And my companion, no hook, over here, allows me to pay a coin to gain a location's top corruption. So, if I don't want to vanquish it via spending my resources, depending on which one it is on the top, I can just pay a coin to basically take it and put it into my possession. Or of course I can do a vanquish action. If I want to hold on to my money and don't want to pay for that corruption, I can always vanquish it the traditional method which would be spending these resources.
All right. And otherwise, again, we are playing with the a side of the triumph track. And there are two sides to this. They're going to have different goals. Our side is going to have things like popularity or uh solving quests. There's upgrading items. I want to put out my mechs. Only three buildings. Naveen wants seven corruption tokens.
I want to collect these seven corruption tokens. But again, if I'm paying for them, if I'm using uh them to do other things like boasting or meldding, then I have to figure out a way to kind of hold on to them, but also spend them as currency.
Yeah, hold on to them first. Boast and then you can spend them.
We also need a certain amount of workers. It's eight for me, six for Naveen. A certain amount of money, it requires more from me. Yep.
This going to require four map tokens for expeditions, two encounter tokens for me. So, this is going to be a true sort of early game race
because it's kind of the easiest one to achieve. On our side of the triumph track, there's only one space for combat. So, the opposite side has two goals that have combat. We're really just racing to be the first person to win a combat. And finally, we have 13 power for me and 10 power for Naveen. All right. And otherwise, I think we are ready to begin. Are you ready to duel, Naveen?
I am ready. Yes.
All right. Well, explorations goes first. So, Naveen, please take it away.
Okay, now my mech is starting on my home territory, which is here next to uh adjacent hex's one and two. And the way I start is I put my cube from this refresh location right here, allowing me to take all three of these actions in whatever combination I want.
Yes. What would you like to do? So, you must move first before gathering.
Yeah, cuz clearly I'm not going to gather here because you gather on the hex. So, I'm going to move. So, we're going to go uh one, two. I'm going to move there. And again, when moving, I can move up to three spaces. You must move at least one space. You can't just sit there. If you have a move action, uh, but when you move into a place that has a map token for me, then I must stop all my movement. So, if I wanted to move Yeah. And I claim it. So, flip it over. Nice. Oh, so I get
So, the expedition player actually has a bonus on the opposite side of the map token. As a side player, you would ignore that bonus. You would just collect the token. But
I gained a combat card. That's good.
That is nice.
So, you can back off
because you didn't start with one.
I didn't start with one. So, now I have two. Yeah,
that's scary. I don't like that. I liked knowing exactly how much power Navian was able to spend. So,
so I have one token.
So, that was my move action.
Okay.
Next thing I'm going to do is I'm going to do a play and I'm going to play my companion. So, my compan So, whenever you play, you take it from your hand and you're going to move it over here to kind of your active area. And I am going to put my uh hero worker on top of it to represent the blue. What we're going to do first though is we look in the top left corner and whatever symbol you see at the very top, that is the resource you gain. So I'm going to gain one power. So now I have three power. If I had some stars out, I would get some more stuff. Obviously, it's at the very beginning of the game. So we can just ignore that. And now I'm going to be able to resolve the benefit that's listed here. So I pay one coin. So goodbye one coin. Uh to gain uh the location, which is what I'm at right there, the top corruption. I'm not going to vanquish. I'm going to gain the the top production
because it's either paying a coin to gain it or taking a vanquish action like this.
So, I got a little three skis right here.
And this is all public knowledge. You can you're always allowed to know what the value is at the bottom there.
Now, I didn't do a vanquish. So, we can basically stop reading from there. But if that if I was to vanquish and it was the last token there, then I get to take the action that's below it.
Yes. And that is also public knowledge, I believe, just so you're aware. That's
that's a boast action. A star is a boast action.
Yeah. And also, it it doesn't really matter too much, but you can take either of these in any order of your choosing. So that was move and play.
So I moved. I played. So I moved. I picked up that token. I played this card and I put this wild worker on it.
And now you gather.
I'm gonna gather. So gather. I get a coin back. So that's
and then this symbol means you can rescue a card.
So the card I played here. So one card I can rescue. Basically I can refresh one single card. I'm going to refresh this card right here. So
because typically you can only take your cards back when taking a refresh action and it refreshes everything. But it also moves your cube over here. Yes,
this will allow you to just refresh the one card.
There you go. I used a card. I got something out of it. And now I just refreshed it. So that's it for me. Now it's going to go to the scythe player.
All right. So now it is to me and I must now decide which action section to take for my first turn. I'm definitely going to move.
Okay.
Because I need to move my character to to take these encounter tokens. I'm sure Naveen is going to just start picking them all off. So I'm going to go here. Now again, you can take the bottom row followed by or the top row, sorry, followed by the bottom row action. Um, either one or neither.
Sure.
But you have to do a top row first. Now, the basic move action actually allows me to move two different units, one space each. And in this game, my pieces are going to be Max, my character, and my workers.
But they have to be different people, basically. So, I'm going to move one worker over here to the battle hex. And I'm also going to move my character. Do you mind moving my character once based on Yes, please.
to the village.
To the village. Because I don't really want to move this way yet because I cannot cross this river. I would sort of be stuck there.
Yeah. You're kind of forced to kind of hang out here for a little bit.
Yeah. Now, the thing about the scythe player is in the very beginning of the game, it's pretty tough to do the bottom action. You pretty much cannot do it on your first turn.
Not on the first. One of your goals is to try to do it as quickly as possible, which is not now. So, I cannot take my bottom row action, which would require me to pay three metal to deploy a mech. But before I end my turn, I am going to utilize my leverage ability. So, it says once per turn, you may discard one unplaced star. So, I'm going to discard it here
to gain a resource of my choice.
What's it going to be?
I'm going to take oil.
Okay.
And uh I just place it on a hex that I control. So, I'm going to place it here with my worker.
Nice and safe. Over the course of the game, as you move your pieces around, including your workers, they can carry as many resources with them as you'd like,
you just have to be cautious because as soon as the expedition's player steps into that hex, then they now control the resources. They don't do anything with it, but it keeps you from spending it.
Okay, so now it goes to me and I have to take this cube and block off one of these actions, revealing only two actions, and I get to take those two. So,
so basically, which one do you not want to take?
I'm going to take the not play action. So, I'm going to do a move and gather. So again, I can move up to three spaces away.
I'm going to go backwards. I'm going to go one, two, three.
So that's going to be it. That's the end of move. So we see another map token here. I collect this one.
And just as a note, you can choose to gather first before moving. So I do like this the benefit of that hex.
I do like it, but I didn't have a card that was going to come back, so I said I'll come back to it later. Ah, look at I gain a power.
You gain a power.
Power is good. Power.
I find it interesting that you decided to come this way.
Why is that? cuz you're trying to pick off the map tokens that are close to me.
I mean, it's a plan.
I could very well
start a combat.
Start a combat.
I have a combat card.
Okay, I have two.
You can only play one though.
Oh, it begins. The duel
the duel of Melo
being.
Okay. Well,
being not nice.
Well, I'm going to gather. That's my right to do it. Okay. Okay.
So, I'm going to gather this one. Now, this one uh this symbol here basically I can activate any card. So basically any one of these two cards bottom ability one time. So that's what this symbol means here. I'm going to activate this one. So this one says, let's just bring it down here so it's easier to see. Trash a corruption to gain coins equal to its value or trash a map uh to gain two coins.
Oh,
so I'm going to trash this corruption, which is three to gain three coins.
Oh, okay.
So goodbye corruption.
Corruption.
So I'm going to take three coins.
So that's one less corruption for that. That's one less corruption, but this is more coins towards this right here. So,
nine. So, you need nine.
It's like, do I think you're going to build out three structures before I can get seven or do I think I'm going to get nine coins total before you get 12?
Tough.
I don't know, but I I felt that that was a good move for me.
So, that was my uh move and that was my gather. Okay,
that's it.
Similarly, so these two hex's have a very similar looking symbol, but the difference is that this allows you to take a benefit from an adjacent card.
Yep. where whereas this allows you to take a benefit from an adjacent hex. It is hex shaped.
It's basically you get to do the gather action on this this or this. We have lakes here that don't have anything. So that's kind of how you look at it.
Yeah. Okay.
Again, there's two sides of this board. We're playing on this desert side. There's another side that has different uh layout.
All right. Well, it is now back to me. I do not like what Naveen is doing here.
It's making me dueling
angry Naven. Okay. So, I must move my pawn to a different action. I cannot move again with this particular faction.
You shant.
I shant. So I am going to produce. So when taking the produce action, your base action allows you to produce on up to two different hex's. And when you're doing this, you're producing the resource of that hex. For each worker, specifically worker that you have there. So if I had two workers here and I chose this hex, I would get to produce two metal.
Now, it's not always free. At the start of the game, it is free. But one thing that I can produce is workers. So that is how I gain more workers by having workers in the village. Hex
workers produce workers in the village.
Yes. And it produces them from my player board. And as soon as I start removing these, then I'll have to pay things such as power. And in the case of that space, also popularity. So it does become expensive. But for now, it's free. The two hex's that I'm choosing are the two hexes that I have a worker on. It's one oil and one metal.
Oil and metal. So, and they go the resource goes on its particular hex because that is where the worker
is working,
you know.
Yes.
So, that is it for production. And now I can actually take a bottom row action. This is the ability to upgrade. It's going to cost two oil. And so, I was able to I happen to have two oil because I use my leverage ability. So, I'm going to pay the two oil. And upgrading allows me to take a cube from any of the six different cubed off sections here on the top of my playerboard and move it to any of the indented sections on the bottom row. And that basically just makes that bottom row action cheaper. So, I'm going to move this cube here to its bottom row section. You can choose a different section, but I'm going to put it here. So, now it makes my move action better because I can move up to three different
And you have three things on the board. And now it makes deploying a mech cheaper. So it's only two metal instead of three.
That's pretty good.
Before I end my turn though, I am going to do my leverage action again.
Let me guess.
I'm going to get a metal.
Oh,
that's right, Nabine.
Yeah,
you'll guess it.
So you can build a mech later.
I'm going to do Yeah, I'll do that.
I see you.
So
So if you're building a mech, then
I see it.
Then that means you have to You're going to move. So you're going to move and build a mech.
That is right, Naven. I'm going to move and build a mech. And that'll allow me to play two cards if you if you get in my my space.
If they're both in the same house,
both the character and the mech, but I can move three now. And the thing about mechs that is actually really cool is that mechs can also carry any number of workers with them.
Yes.
So, I will not need to spend a move action moving a worker. I just move the mech. And they can also drop off workers. And from where they drop off a worker, that worker can now move from.
I see.
It's a pretty cool aspect, I think.
Okay. It's kind of a big deal, huh?
It's kind of a big deal these mechs.
Okay, I'm going to cover up gather. We're going to do a move and play combo. And Monnique was right. Yes, I was coming over here to move.
Single move. Must stop. You know, I got to stop. That's the rules. I take this.
And ah, I get a guile.
You get a guile.
There you go. You're one away from your goal.
One away from this goal. This was something that I think is going to be easier for me to do than for your character, but
uh I just felt that I wanted to do this.
Uh then now I'm going to play a card and I'm going to go back to playing that companion I played earlier. So this is that one that we talked about. Um I'm going to gain uh this. I'm going to gain a power. So that goes to five.
Okay.
And then I'm going to put my wild uh worker on there. I'm going to pay a coin to gain the location's top corruption. So I'm going to pay that coin. One coin goes away. I'm going to gain this three that goes direct to me.
And that's how that works.
That's it.
That's it. Nice and simple.
All right. Well, I'm going to do the thing. So, I'm going to move uh I can do up to three movements now. I think I'm only going to do two. So, I'm going to move this worker to the village.
Got to make more people.
That's right. And I'm going to move this character.
Swap skis.
Here's skis. Okay. So now that my move action is done, and by the way, something I didn't mention for anybody who's not familiar with Scythe is there is an alternate option for a lot of these actions. So instead of moving, I can just choose to gain a coin. And if I upgrade this, I can gain two coins. So I didn't mention that because you don't typically do that in the early game.
Um, but it is an option.
Yes, because coins in Scythe is one point each. Yes.
And and Scythe is a game about points,
right? So here it's going to be spending and also this one category. Okay, now that I've finished my movement, at the end of movement and combat, if your character specifically ends your movement in a hex that still has an encounter token, then you remove it.
And you get to resolve an encounter.
You don't even get to look at what's on the back side of that.
Oh, you want to see what you could have had. Oh.
Oh, draw a card.
Draw a card. Yeah, could have had that.
So when doing so, you'll draw the top card from the encounter deck. And these are they're literally encounters. You There are three options. and you choose one.
Okay,
so here are my options. Nine,
I can help with filling jugs at the well and gain two food and two popularity. Each opponent gains a combat card. Not doing that, I can bribe the wellkeeper to learn a secret, which is paying $3 to gain a factory card, even if you already have one.
Don't even read anymore.
Factory cards are these. You have to make it to this uh hex over here to get one. But they're really, really nice. Anyway, the last choice is claim the nearby building as your own. Pay two popularity to build one structure. You may also pay one $1 to gain a worker. [gasps] Oh my gosh, what do I do?
They're all pretty decent choices.
They're awesome. The problem is if I pay a dollar to gain a worker, that's still free. But if I produce there, then it's no longer going to be free
to produce. I don't want to have to pay power this early in the game. You know what I mean? Mhm.
So, I can still pay two popularity to build this structure.
Okay.
It says you may also pay a dollar to gain a worker. This might be foolish.
Oh, I see. Okay.
This could be foolish.
So, you're going to pay two popular. You're taking choice three.
Gosh, I wish I didn't move this worker. So, basically,
I think I'm going to do it.
So, you're doing option three.
I'm going to do option three.
Okay.
I'm going to pay two popularity to build a structure.
Two popularity. So, you are going to go down to one, which is fine.
Yeah.
And the structure will go here. And that's because this is where the encounter token occurred. Yes, that's right. So, it has to go on that hex. Okay. I am going to So, can you you already spent it for me?
I did. Y
I'm going to build a mill.
Ah,
so what the mill does a good one
is as long as either my as long as my opponent is not on this hex.
Let's lay it down so we can see it. Yeah.
Then when I take the produce action, I produce on two hexes of my choice as well as this hex as a bonus. So even if there are workers here, I will not only produce one resource for the mill, but one resource for each worker that's here in addition to the other two hexes that I chose.
It's good. It's Yeah, really good.
It is good. But now I'm wondering cuz if I pay the dollar, the worker would go here.
Mhm.
And then on my next turn,
I can produce two metal already. Okay, I'm going to do it.
All right.
So, can I have four coins back, please?
I'm going to produce a I'm going to I'm going to have a worker join. Yeah, they're joining there because um that is the location the encounter hacker.
That was a tough decision. That was a good choice. You know, that was that was smart move.
There's no time. Time is time is not on my side. So, I paid too popular to build a structure and I also paid a dollar to get a worker. So, that's it. This card's out. I doubt I'll be getting another one
because Nian is being very sneaky sneaky sneaky.
I'm definitely going to try to snag these things cuz they give me stuff on the other end of it, too. Like, so like it's it's one of the goals for me to get four of those map tokens. It gets me something on the back end and it buys me some time to move around and do the gathers on them. So,
you definitely want to do it. That's why it's I only needed to collect two because it's like you're probably not going to collect it. They know
that's not the end of my turn yet though because I can now do the bottom row action which is paying two metal.
Use two metal to deploy
a mech.
A mech. Now that I'm here, I'm going to go with speed. M.
So, this just increases uh my movement by one per movement for the plastic pieces at my character. And this is going to go here. And the reason why is because even though I can't cross these rivers, it's you can find you can find a way around the entire board like this. So, I can still chase Nibian around like that.
Specifically for my board, I also gain two coins.
Yep.
When I deploy a mech. So, I feel better about spending that one coin for the worker.
For sure.
Okay. Sorry.
You're good. That was such an intense decision space there. But that's it for me. So now it goes back to you.
Well, I got to do this now while I can. Okay, I'm I'm going to cover up play. We're just going to do a move and gather. So we're going one, two. We're going to move. This is the final one that I really need to work on. I'm going to take this
and I get a worker of my choice.
Oh, which one?
Really? Oh,
which color would you like? Oh, you have to decide that now.
Oh, I do. I do. Oh, man. Okay, I'll have to make that decision. Well, seeing as one character has my my character has yellow. Mhm.
And there's a yellow uh card out there. I'm going to take a yellow because if I end up acquiring that card, then this could be kind of used for either one of those depending on
what I'm doing. So, I'll take yellow.
Okay.
And then I'm going to gather. Now, this one is the one that we talked about. I can uh take basically the bottom bottom action of any one of these three.
Mhm.
You know, I like what's going on here. It's a little bit of everything. I gain a coin and I get to move up on both my tracks. So, track track and a coin. There we go.
All right.
Okay. That's me.
Okay. Okay. So then it goes back to me. Uh, you're so far,
you're so far. I'm going to go back to produce.
Okay.
So, I can technically choose this these two and still produce on this hex now that I have a mill. But I don't want to produce another worker right now.
Okay.
Because I need my power and that's going to cost me a power each time I produce. So, I'm only going to choose these two.
So, you're going to get one oil here.
Yeah.
And then you're going to produce technically because the mill is here, you're going to produce what's that? two metal.
Two metal,
which is good for you.
Yeah. Now I'm going to do my leverage ability again. So I am now down one star, unfortunately. But I'm doing that to get another oil
early enough
so that I can take my bottom row action.
Yeah.
Which requires me to spend two oil
to upgrade. I'm going to remove this bolster cube
and I'm going to put it on my build action.
So that that building a building only costs two wood instead of three.
That's good.
All right. I think that's it.
All right. I am going to cover up gather. So, we're going to do another move and play, but I'm going to go a different way. I'm going to go back the way I came. It's going to be one, two, three. This way. And no uh map tokens are stopping me.
You're running away.
So, one, two, three. So, I'm moving over here.
Uh then, so I have my move. Now, I'm going to play So, I'm going to play my my character card. So, I'm going to gain myself uh my guile.
Mhm.
Then, I'm going to put my yellow on here. And this says uh refresh all other workers or solve. Now, I don't have any quests, so there's nothing to solve. So we can just stop that right now. And so I'm just going to refresh this worker here. So then you're going to come back.
So the worker, not the card.
The worker. Refresh all other workers. Now, if I had a bunch of workers out here, that'd be great. Uh but I don't.
Okay.
Maybe later.
And then this one will go over here. And this can just kind of hang out. I can keep it nice and tight.
Um then I'm going to end my turn because I cannot gather. I assumed I was going to gather for some reason mentally. Why?
I thought you were going to do it all.
Yeah, I thought I was here.
Nice try, buddy.
I stopped myself. There was no try.
So you moved in. You played.
I moved and played.
All right. So, that's back to me.
Yes.
Okay. I will now move and pay to deploy a mech. So, I can move three different people. First, I'm going to move this worker over to this hex over here. And I'm going to move my character. One, two.
And I might as well move my mech as well. One, two.
Okay. And like I was mentioning earlier, I could carry workers with me and resources, but I'm just going to leave them where they are. Now, before I take my bottom row action, the first time your character ends a movement on the space that has the factory symbols, there's only one hex even inside the entire game that has that. I get to draw and keep one of the factory cards. Now, three of them come in the game, but you only have I only play with two of them randomly. So, I have to choose which one, and it it basically becomes a new action space for me.
Yep. Oh my gosh. I have to choose correct this one. Let's do it. Okay, so [sighs] this requires me to pay popularity.
What are you going to do?
I can pay popularity to either gain an upgrade or two combat cards. Oh, I like that. And then at the bottom of every factory card is the ability for one piece to move two spaces with additional speed. It's three. Y
So this just this will just go here.
It's a new spot. She has five locations
for whenever I would like to
do that. So that was your that was your uh move. So you finished your move.
Yeah.
Okay. So I I wanted to go there for the factory card. Unfortunately, it's a pretty hefty cost. I only have one popularity left. Like I could abandon that and just say, "Naveen, you can do that."
Sure. But
I'll take you up on that.
There is no star for upgrades. It's nice to just get combat cards, though. It's nice to know I have it.
All right. I'm going to take my bottom row action, which is deploy. So I'm going to pay my two metal. And I can now deploy a mech. And I also gain two coins. Here, I'm going to give you a five and I'll take you three back.
Okay. So, I have eight.
I need 12. Is that
12? 12.
All right.
So, I am going to build my warp mech. So, now all of my plastic pieces can move from a territory to any territory of the same terrain type.
So, you can go from wood to wood, metal to metal.
And I also have an additional speed. So, if I were to move like my character, I could move from metal to it would have to be this one, unfortunately. But then I would be able to move an additional space. The the place I'm warping to just cannot have my enemy piece in it,
which is just me. My back needs to go into a space that contains a worker, which is going to be there.
Cool.
All right, that's me.
Anything else, Mon'nique? No. All right, I'm going to I'm going to cover up move. So, this is the one time I'm not moving.
Okay,
we're going to stay in the same location. I'm going to do a gather first and then with that card I gather, I will play it.
Oh,
so I'm going to do this. I'm gathering this. So, this is a this is draw one of these face up cards.
Yes.
And then sweep. So, I'm going to draw this card.
Okay.
So, this card is uh charm stone. So, this is a meteorite. This is one that I can meld. And unfortunately, in this game, melding is not a a thing to get a star, but it can help me with certain things. Uh, but this one right here, it says, um, if I if I put a yellow worker on it, gather or discard a card to boast.
Oh,
so that's nice. Yeah.
So, I have that.
Wow. So, you can place out your stars. Plop plop.
Mhm. So, I have that right here. Um, then we have to sweep. Now, sweep is basically we wipe this and we put two new cards out.
Okay.
So, this is going to go out and then we're going to get two new cards. So, we have one, two, just like that. Okay, perfect. Oo. So, we have a quest and another media, right? You said you were going to gather it and then play it. Are you going to play it?
Yeah. So, I I could play it to gather this and do this exact same thing again.
You can also just choose, by the way, to play a card and not even utilize the bottom ability if you just take it for the resource.
Yeah. So, I will play this card, but I'm not going to do it for the boast even though I have the four map tiles. I'm going to do it for the gather. So, I'm going to play this card and gain a guile. So, I'm moving up on that track. If I have a card melded melded, sorry, I can't speak. Okay, then I would gain another guile. So, that's not the case right now. So, we can just forget that. Okay, I'm going to put my wild worker on top of it and I'm going to do the gather action again. So, basically, I'm going to I'm going to take the action of that hex one more time.
So, I'm going to put this here.
So, I am going to sweep first. I'm not too fond of what I'm seeing here.
You don't want a smite stone.
Well, you know what? This one is actually not bad. This is this is a uh
resist the sway of
No, this is this is a one one is right here. I can complete that quest and all it cost is one go. You know what? I will take this card first.
Okay.
Uh so I'm going to do my gather. So that's this uh action here.
Yeah,
that goes into my hand.
And then now I will sweep.
You don't Do you have to?
I don't have a red worker. The red worker.
Okay.
Oh, the red worker. The red worker's right there.
See, if you don't sweep, you're still going to draw a new card onto that space.
I know. Okay. I will not sweep. Fine.
Okay.
Begrudgingly not sweep. Okay, there we go. Oh, another red worker. There you go.
I should probably get some red workers then.
I will say I believe when you gain a card, you replace it immediately. So, you probably could look at that and then decide which ones to sweep. And when you sweep, you don't have to sweep both. You decide which
I might have not done that properly on the last one. So, I apologize if that was the case.
But, but I guess the question is, do you still choose to sweep? Like, there's two red workers. If there's one of them that you don't want.
I I think I will sweep now that I look at it because
I don't You're going to beat me to this mech thing. And this this is the upgrade an item. This is an item.
Okay.
I'm going to sweep it. Let's just get rid of these.
So, you want to sweep both?
I'll sweep both. Yes. Yeah. I'll sweep I'll get rid of both of them.
Okay.
So, they go out and then now we can just kind of see some other stuff. So, it's one.
So, we've got vine stone as a meteorite.
There's a lot of meteorites coming
and then another meteorite. See stone and vine stone.
Hoping for some quests. Anything else?
No, that's it. Actually, wait. You know what? Before I end my turn, I do I'm going to boast. I am going to do the boast and I'm going to do my my anytime action. One time action.
Okay.
Because you have that factory card. You can start moving now. So, I don't want to I don't want to lose this. So, once per turn, I may trash a corruption. So, unfortunately, this corruption goes out to boast.
Okay.
So, I'm going to put out my first star. Uh, so this star is going to go onto this map
because you have four
I have four
map tokens. Yes, indeed. I could have taken that last. Yeah.
But yeah, it's a good thing that you're doing that. So Naveen is 1/4 of the way to victory. And again, each time your opponent puts out a star as constellation, I get to draw a melo card. I'm going to do it like this if you don't mind. We're getting kind of
tight.
Tight. So I'm going to reveal this and I get to orient it in whichever way I'd like.
Do I want a coin? Do I want a worker? And it's basically going to cover up a this half of that card because the arrow is pointing towards me is what I get. You can do a refresh and build a mech.
But you can't you don't have the you don't have the Yeah.
Yeah. I wouldn't be able to build a mech because I don't have I could borrow Oh, no. I can only do one. Yeah.
Uh I'm going to take the coin though.
So place it like that. So this allows me to do both of these things. It's one coin and a refresh. But I'm not going to do the refresh because I don't want to I don't want to not be able to build a mech right now. You know what I mean?
That's fair. Yeah.
All right. So now you're done. Uh that yeah that was the end of it.
Okay. I mean there is still that last encounter token. It's still not a bad idea. You know
because you know what I think I will do this.
Okay.
Cuz I don't I I I want to be able to you utilize the bottom action. You know what I mean?
You're going to pay your heart.
So I'm going to pay my heart. This is my last
heartless
and I can either get an upgrade or two combat cards. Let's go combat cards because again these combat cards are multi-use. There is a benefit at the top right hand corner. Not only is it a show of is it a threat
to Naveen, but there's also something that you can use it for on your turn if you want to just discard it.
So, that's kind of nice. So, I drew two combat cards and then now I can move and I'm going to move my character. One, two.
Stopping there.
So, I take this.
What would it have been?
Uhhuh. For me,
oh, it would have been a card.
A card.
Yeah,
a face up card. Yeah,
face up card. All right, this is the last time we can do this. So, it better be good. Encounter. My three options are let your team mingle with the merchants. Gain two oil for each recruit you have. Also gain one popularity. I have no recruits. I can outbid a rival to hire an expert. Pay $2 to enlist a recruit.
The player to your right gains one power. Oh, I don't like that. Or spread ugly rumors about your fellow travelers.
Pay one popularity, which I don't have. You gain one power per opponent and all opponents decrease each of their tokens on tracks by one.
Oh, good. that you can't do that.
I can pay $2 to enlist a recruit. It's not bad because if I enlist a recruit, I basically get to choose one of these four and get one of these bonuses. And now whenever I take that bottom row action, I get what's at the bottom, which in this case is a power. Or each time I deploy a mech, which is only two more times, it'll be a coin. H. Okay, I'm going to do that. I'm going to pay $2 to enlist a recruit. So here's a two. You gain one power.
I gain a power.
You're the player to my right. I'll take it.
Which recruit? I think I'm going to go with this one.
Okay.
So, because I know I'm definitely going to be producing, so I'll get a power each time I do the upgrade action. And I don't like the idea of being down two coins. So, I'm going to get the two coins back.
Get them back. Yeah.
Because that is still an objective.
One of our goals. Yeah, we're racing to that. I think you're going to get me on that.
I hope so.
All right. Um, that's it. Now that we're a little bit further in the game, one thing to note, I don't know if we touched upon this earlier, is when moving, if I enter the hex that contains Naveen's mech, my units are required to stop moving
and vice versa. So now that I have some plastic pieces on like other sides of this lake here, Naveen basically cannot go past.
I can't traverse. Yeah. So that's why I had to whip around early, but you know, it is what it is.
Yeah. So moving here via my factory was a nice sort of way to to corner the mech. And there are also these mines that are preprinted on the board that is specific to the scythe player. I can move through those mines to sort of teleport around the board. And to be clear, my pieces do not act as walls. Like Nibid has to stop his movement there, but on his next turn, he can move to a different hex. You know what I mean? I just slow him down.
Okay, I'm going to uh I'm going to cover up play.
So we're going to ga I'm going to do a gather then move. So, I'm going to do this action once again.
I'm I'm going to sweep first. Sweep first. Both.
I Yeah, get rid of both of them.
Okay.
I need to see some uh some heart getting things.
So,
that is not it. That is it. Okay, there we go.
So, what? Investigate the cosmic gate.
Yes,
that's hex three. Hello.
Hi.
Or eight. Oh,
all the way over there.
Hello. Hello.
That's okay. You can only get one star on kicking my butt. So once you get the one star there, it's like there it is.
So you're going to let me
probably. Yeah, I'm pro. Well, cuz you're going to you're going to battle me and you're just Well, you only have two here. So really you have to break the big
four.
But if you only if it's only one plastic piece and I'm the one that initiates battle. I have seven and card.
Yeah, but I can always bolster. I get three more power.
Just Just FYI. Go ahead.
No, I'm aware.
Don't let me stop you.
Okay, so uh now I'm going to pick up a card and I'm going to take this one right here. So, this is uh investigate the cosmic gate. Now, I need to find myself a purple worker
is all the way out here. So, that whole uh preamble about slowing me down on movement is going to be an issue here.
Or don't
uh What do you mean?
You don't need to have that worker in order to solve the quest.
No, but if I want to get, you know, if I want to put it into play and like
in order to just play the card for the bottom ability, you do need the worker. But for solving the quest, what what do you need there? Two guile.
Two. I have plenty of guile to do this and this
and a solve action
and being on those either of those hexes, of course.
True.
So, we get a new card there.
Yes. There we go. New card is going to come in an item.
And then where would you like to move to?
I'll move down here. Right on that spot. Okay. There.
Yep. Just one spot.
All right. So, now it's back to me.
I'm going to produce. So, I'm producing on just these two hex's. Still not making the best use of my mill, but that's okay.
Two oil, two metal.
So, two oil and two metal. Now I'm doing the bottom row action here, which is paying this two oil to upgrade. And I'm going to move this cube. So this instead of moving, I can gain two coins. And I'm going to place it down here. So it only cost me one wood to build a building. All right. And because I took a bottom row action here where I have an enlist, a recruiter, a what is it? I have a
a recruiter.
I recruited.
A recruit.
A recruit. There we go.
You gained power. I gain power. I So I have three.
Okay.
All right. That's the end of my turn.
Very good. So, I'm going to stay put. The reason why I move there, so I'm going to cover up my move. So, I'm going to do a gather. I'm going to gather a red worker.
Okay.
Okay. There's a slash here. I get to I have to choose one. Like the other spaces that you've seen, there's no slash here. I'm choosing a red worker.
Okay.
And then with the red worker, I'm going to play uh resist the sway of Melo. So, uh this one's right here. I'm going to gain a guile. We can never forget such a thing. And then it's refresh all workers or vanquish. Now there's nothing to vanquish here. So if because there's no corruption. If there is no corruption here, gain any benefit here. So I can get another red worker or a blue one.
Okay.
I'm going to take a blue knowing that I have a blue here. So we're just going to stack this up. So we're going to get a blue worker.
Okay.
So I I have four towards the six workers. That's a thing.
That's true.
That's kind of nice. I just realized that you'll be able to get that.
Yeah.
Uh so that is that. Oh, refresh all my workers. Let's not forget why I did that. There we go. I refresh all my workers except for the red one. The red one is how I was able to refresh the workers. That's the text.
Okay,
so that's it for me.
All right. Well, it goes back to me. I'm going to move. I'm doing this. I swear I'll be doing some of the other actions in a bit.
But I can move up to three different I'm going to move this mech.
Okay.
With the worker
with the worker two spaces, dropping off the worker here,
two
and moving this one there. So you can just drop off workers along the route and that's not considered like an extra move or anything like that. That's totally legal,
right? And by the way, they're going to bring along these
metal
the metal. I don't know if it matters actually.
I'm not getting there in in traditional scythe. Maybe you would want to like protect that by bringing stuff along, but yeah.
And honestly, I think that's it. I'm trying to figure out like where to put all my pieces. So I moved and I'm going to pay the two metal to deploy a mech. So
another mech. Let's go riverwalk. Do I care about riverwalk? Move across rivers to farms and forests. It's really just here to here.
You know what I mean?
Let's do Ver. This is the one that says after combat I can refresh my action.
I'm pretty sure you're gearing up for a little combat action over here.
I'm thinking about it. Thinking about it.
Looking at I get two coins.
Star. Maybe your second star.
Five, six, seven, eight, nine. This is 10, 11.
10 11. I'll take one back.
Thank you. And then I'm going to discard a combat card for its benefit. Now, you can discard any number of these for the benefit at the top right hand corner. There are only a few different benefits that are offered. I think there's like eight different types of combat cards in the entire deck.
So, I'm just going to do one and it's
survey the battlefield. It's just for a coin.
Typically, this combat card would give me four power. And during combat, it says increase the value of this card by plus one per each other combat card played. So, it's actually really nice. But I'm doing this
and it gets you a star
to get the star.
So this is a 12th.
So this is my 12th coin. This is going to go out. I'll just discard it over there.
Goodbye.
And now unlike the expeditions player, I do not need to take a special action. I only have these three.
Yeah,
I just do it immediately. I have 5 8 9 10 11 12 coins. So boom.
I was really planning on getting that one, but man, you with your mech ability to get two coins every time you build a mech, and you're already going to be doing that.
My first star.
First star.
Baby's first star. Baby's first star. Nav mean's first card.
Melo card.
Oh,
would you like a combat card or a power?
You know,
and you have to cover this card.
Getting 10 power is a thing for me.
This is This is so nice for you.
This is great
cuz you get a worker, too.
Yeah. Worker is what I want. So,
your sixth worker.
Boom. Right there.
The last one for you.
Uh, no. So, I have one, two, three, four.
Oh, it's your fifth.
So, I'm going to get a power.
Yeah.
And then, seeing as I have purple here, let's get a purple worker.
Oh, that was so nice for you. That was for two different goals.
It's for two different goals. Yeah.
You just need two more power for that and one more worker for
I need two more power for this. One more worker for this. And I have one two questable cards.
Yeah. If
I can get a third questable card, that'd be great.
And actually, you know what? I don't think this affects anything. Before you take your turn, I just realized that had I not dropped off this worker here, I could have built my mech here. Do you mind if I just do that?
I mean, sure. Yeah, it makes sense.
Yeah. Right.
Yeah.
Okay. Okay, so I dropped off my worker here, thinking that I might need a food. But in this game, you really just have to focus. And I realized that I could have just had all three of them in the same hex.
Yeah.
So instead of dropping off my worker, my mech would have just brought it brought the worker along with them.
It's true. Okay. O. All right. This is going to be not something you want to really be doing right now. Three mechs breathing down your neck. We are refreshing.
Oh,
I don't really have cards that I want to do what I want to do. So I'm going to I'm going to do it now. So, I'm going to refresh. Basically, everybody comes into my hand.
All workers on go and they're eligible for use again. So, hopefully I can just keep this nice and tight so we can see everything.
All right,
that's everything, right? That turns out that was my turn. Yeah,
that refresh.
I was waiting for that refresh turn. It was going to come at some point. I have to do it because if if I want to be able to vanquish, if I want to be able to solve, like all my cards are how I take the actions and if they're all tucked into my active side, I can never do those things. So,
the thing that's nice is on Naveen's next turn, you get to do all three of those things.
Yeah, I can I can do everything. Exactly. I gather play. Yeah, exactly. I'm I'm going to lose this battle. I know. I I battle
if you come into my into my hex and fight me. I totally get it.
I cannot
You can't cross the river. Oh, man. mentally. I was uh Yeah. Yeah, that's true. You don't have
I can't reach you right now. It would just be if you were to to enter.
I was not paying attention to that. But that's okay. The refresh will still still stay valid because if I want to do those other things, I still have to do that.
Right. All right. Well, I'm going to take the trade action for the first time.
So, this lets me pay a coin to either gain I need two resources of my choice or um gain a popularity. So, I'm going to get two resources and I think I'm going to take a wood.
Yeah, you have no access to wood.
I don't have wood right now.
This is the closest wood to you and you don't have riverwalk. So, you would have to walk this way in with the worker,
but that's not happening right now.
I'll do a wood and a metal. So,
you have to pay back the stars. Don't forget
I know. I know. It's stressing me out. So, they just have to go somewhere where I control
nice and safe.
And then I'm going to do my bottom row action here, which allows me to pay a wood to build a building. So, I can either build a mine, which helps me teleport, or I can build the armory, which now whenever I take this action, I gain a power, or I can do the monument, which gives me popularity. I don't know if I'm going to be going.
10 10 of them is a lot. Yeah.
Yeah. So, I'm going to get I'm going to build the armory, and it just has to go to a hex that has a worker. Um, each hex can only contain one building.
Yes, that's true.
So, there's that. And I also gain a coin. A
coin. The coin you paid. So that's my second my second building.
So two of three. Yeah, you have one more. And I'm nowhere near seven corruption. How many do I have? Zero.
I do need to start paying back my star.
It's just one resource. You're going to you're going to be paying that back is not going to be hard.
Use it again. I don't know. We'll see. All right. That's me.
Okay. Well, I know I'm going to get to do everything, so that's good.
Yeah, that's nice.
There we are. Let me just confirm. I know what's below this. It's a star.
Yeah. All right.
To boast.
To boast over there. Okay.
You going to go there?
Um, yes. So, I am going to gather. I'm going to gather here first, though.
Okay.
I will gather a blue worker. Why not? This gets me my sixth worker.
So, I have one, two, 3, four, five, six. So, that's good. So, I've gathered.
Okay.
Uh I'm going to move. And I can move up to three spaces. One, two.
Mhm.
And then I'm going to play and I'm going to play this card right here. Uh my companion. So, this companion because I have one star out, I'm going to get to the top. I have 10 power now.
Wow. which is one of the goals.
Uh then I'm going to put my blue on and it says pay a coin to gain your location's top corruption. So I'm going to do that.
Okay.
Or or I can vanquish. If this vanquish removes a location's final corruption, you may gain the real benefit. Actually, I will I will pay the corruption. I will not pay the coin.
I'm I'm going to vanquish. Sorry. So I'm going to pay the two guile. It's It's got a two on there.
Okay.
So one, two. That's the whole point of that.
So you're doing the vanquish action.
Vanquish action. I collect this.
Yeah.
Because I did that, I get the revealed bonus, which is uh put out a star. I can boast right now.
You can boast. So, what are you gonna boast about?
Well, I have a 1 2 3 4 5 six. That will always be true, but spending this in a battle will not always be true. So, I'm going to say this one right here.
Okay.
So, I'm going to put out a star on power.
Power. All right.
Me.
Melo card.
Melo me, please,
for you.
So, I can either get a coin or a combat card. We're doing double combat. So, this is the top most card.
Yeah.
So, I cover up one spot.
Combat. Combat.
And two combat cards, please.
One, two for you.
Amazing. Thank you.
That's good. All right. And then, um,
so that was my gather. I gathered the the the sixth worker. I moved here.
I played the card that allowed me to take that thing off and then I was able to. So, I I did all three.
You did everything.
That's everything. Yeah.
Okay. So, N is two to my one.
Two to one.
Oh my gosh. It is on. What you doing? It is on. I think it's going to come down to who wins the combat.
You think, Dad?
I don't know.
What else are you working towards?
Yeah. Well,
I have the worker.
I have two quests. I have the worker. That's That's in. The question is, can I win the combat? Probably not. Am I upgrading anything? I have no cards that are upgradeable.
Uh,
you do have the quest, but you haven't solved any of them yet.
Correct. So, now I have I only have one way to solve, and that is with my character. So, I have to do the thing. Yeah. Get over there, solve it, refresh them back, do the thing, get it back, and I have to do it three times.
Yeah, the dance.
And I have to acquire a third card that is uh solvable.
So, it's it's it's not, you know, I'm going to race to three stars, and then it's I'm probably going to kunk.
Kplunk, you shall. All right. So, then it goes back to me. It's very tempting to just put out this last mech right now, but I can't because I owe I don't have enough stars. I can't risk putting out a star and then not having enough stars to to win a combat when the time is right. You know what I mean? Because it would require me to spend one of these for another medal that I only have one one medal on the board right there. So, I'm going to produce and I
So, you're producing here. Definitely.
Yes. And both of these hexes.
So, you're going to get one two metal and two oil.
Yeah. So, here's a two oil and then one metal here, one metal here. I am going to spend this metal to take back a star.
Got it.
And then bottom row action. So I get a power. I'm spending the two oil to I have to do it, right?
I'm going to spend the two oil to upgrade. Let's do this cube. And it doesn't really matter. I don't think I'm just going to put it here.
All right.
All right. That is me.
All right. Let's just uh let's do it. The old cover up of gather. I'm going to move and then I'm gonna play
I'm gonna play this one. Refresh all workers or vanquish. I'm gonna vanquish with a combat.
You're gonna van. You're going to combat me.
I'm going to try to combat cuz you can only play one card there. One plastic to one plastic.
Oh,
I have 10.
So, I can I can pay the max seven. You can pay the max four here.
Ty goes to Ty goes to the aggressor. I got to go for it. I mean, what what you know, what am I going to do? you're, you know, I'm was waiting for you just to to pick me off at some point. I might as well go on the offensive and if I lose, I lose.
All right. Well, Naveen is initiating battle and it's really unfortunate because I can only play one combat card.
Same. Same.
He went to my character.
I did. It was just sitting there.
I'm bummed. I'm going to lose this battle. I don't really know what I'm going to do next. So, we have our power dials. We must simultaneously dial in the amount of power that we want to spend out of the power that we have. You can't just make it out of thin air. And then also assign one max combat card to the dial. So let's see. Ready?
One, two, three.
Everything.
Four.
Seven.
Seven.
So seven.
Okay. So Naveen is the attacker. So he he adds up his values first and resolves his card.
Okay. Seven, eight, nine.
Mhm.
If this is swarm tactics, increase the value of this card by one for every unit there. And that's mine or my opponents.
Oh. So 7 8 9 I'm 10. You're 11. So my total strength is 11.
11. Okay. So I went four.
Okay.
Plus three is seven.
Okay.
After the reveal, you may play an additional combat card with a different value.
Stop the noise.
I have
Stop the steel.
To play a four.
What? Wait. What's your total?
Oh, no. No. I have to play five. Huh? Five or higher?
Wait. So I I have 11.
Seven.
You have 11.
You cannot tie me cuz I'm the aggressor. in combat. Unless your combat card says otherwise, the attacker wins.
What a card to have.
So, I need to be at 12.
Mhm.
I actually didn't consult my I have less ditch effort.
What is this? What is this? Six.
Last ditch effort.
Tell me that check says you don't get a star.
No, it says if attacking, you lose ties. If defending minus one value. So, it's a five,
right? I'm defending.
Yes.
So, this is instead of a six, it's a five. So, I'm at seven
plus five. 12. That's okay. You yoloed it. You did. That was the best.
So So you go to zero.
I do go to zero. I spent all my power
to three.
Naveen spent seven of his power in hand
in hand.
And then plus these cards because he lost if you spend at least one power via either power in hand or combat cards. You get a combat card as consolation.
And that's carries extra value in this game because there's other things that they do. So you get draw combat card. However, Naveen now must retreat. So retreating is just back home. You
back home and I
you get the star.
I win. I'm
You were like dreading this combat. That was a great one two punch.
I was not ready for that. I wanted as a scythe player with all of your pieces. You want to ensure victory because you have all these pieces.
Well, you got victory.
The upper hand. That was I got lucky. I didn't know Nib was going to do that. I was foolish for leaving my character on that hex. You know it. I know. saw it the whole I saw it for for rounds and I was like as long as I can just score my power.
Yeah.
Then I will go on the attack one time cuz there can only be one one winner of this of the star
of the star on our triumph.
And I had that swarm thing. So I'm like I can't go into an area where you have a bunch of units that allows you to play a bunch of cards.
Naveen did the right thing.
I had to go for it. You know,
he didn't know I had that card in my hand though. And so that is kind of why you have to use these combat cards. Exactly. So
I win the one combat. Now, on the opposite side of this triumph track, there's two opposite two um that would be caught that.
So, Naveen, you get
I get a card,
a Melo card, and these get discarded.
Yes, they do.
And now I don't have any more.
That was a way for me to get my fourth star quickly. That's not going to happen anymore.
So, you have to cover up this card. So, you get a coin and something else. Whatever is on
covered up. Yeah, you know, power is not that important anymore. So, I'm going to do this. I'm going to get another worker. I know I've already scored worker and power, but uh
you have not scored worker.
Um
Oh, but you have what you need.
I I have what I need. Yeah. Yeah. So, like I can score it.
Okay.
Uh I see these two both require yellow.
Yeah.
Let's get another yellow.
Okay.
There we go.
Yeah. I haven't scored it. Like I could technically do this right now.
Yeah.
Which is spend this as my any time
to boast and boast the workers. Yeah. But if I do that and that gives you a little benefit here and I'm a little nervous about what benefit you might draw here
to get you just just get you there. I don't think you can put out two stars in one turn.
You can mech. Your mech is going to be a star. You're doing that for sure.
Yes.
I finished with your turn.
Well, I now now I'm thinking like, wait, do I do I do this now? So, you can mech. And what else are you threatening me on? Oh, buildings.
Buildings.
I'm done. I'm toast, aren't I?
It was It was the battle.
It was technically two turns. that the combat was the defining the defining moment came down to the combat. I think it came down to
I'm going to make it look better. I'm going to do my once per turn you may trash a corruption to upgrade me or boast.
Yeah,
trash to boast.
I will say the fact that you've been trashing your corruption is taking this star away from you and I think that would have been your next best bet.
You know, but the reason why I said okay for sure I'm doing this. When you got that encounter card,
your choice was put out a building. That's one/ird of all the grind that you have to do.
So, I'm not going to go around. I have to vanquish, which means I have to spend my resources to vanquish those tiles.
I couldn't justify going around and just vanquishing. Plus, I have to have enough vanquish actions to do it when you already got oneird of the way there. And then you you were upgrading so much. I just felt that I couldn't I couldn't do it. I I felt like the corruption
star was not going to happen in this particular play because you were able to get a building out. So, I had to go somewhere else. Yeah. Okay. Anyway, make it look better. I'm going to do this. Boom. Just like that. I have three towards the four.
Yeah,
that's nice. You know,
I think it's possible that you were a Cuz this is this was your next best bet.
Oh, it's totally
But I think you were afraid to traverse.
It's because Texas. Yes.
These are three eight.
Yeah,
this is three. This is one. I didn't want to be a sitting duck on battle going to try to just do one/ird of my tuck.
I need three of these. Yeah.
So, if I just get close to you, tuck, and then you're like, "Great. Now that you're close, I'm just going to kill you." You know? So,
wait, did you put out a star?
I did. I got a
card. So, this is what I'm covering.
So, I got a power and a something. Let's just do a uh Yeah, you can do a refresh card. No, I don't I don't really care to go here right now.
So, may I have a combat card, please? And a power.
Yeah, combat card. Power. You're on the power.
Thank you. Are you finished?
Yeah, that's it.
All right, let's just do it. I'm gonna go here.
Uh moving. I don't think it really matters. I'll hang out. You don't have to do both. I'll do the other.
Yeah, because you have space here to put this building.
Yeah,
because it would be a problem if if you didn't have a worker here. That would be a problem.
Yeah. So, I'm just going to take the bottom row action. So, may I have the two metal, please? Two metal to deploy my last mech. So, this factory factory four mechs. All four mechs. Just like a show of force.
Yes.
And guarding the worker, protecting the worker.
There you go. Triangulating.
They have two. Not that it matters. There's really nothing for me now.
Just
um you get one back.
And then I'm gonna deploy. I've deployed my final uh mech, which gets me the star for four mechs. So this is a four max three upgrade star.
What is this? Win the game immediately. No. Okay.
Okay. So you get a combat card.
I'll I'll do a com
and a refresh.
Yeah. Oh, refresh. That's nice. So I'll do a combat card.
Okay.
Like that because combat cards have things in the top right corner.
Yep.
There we go. Okay. Uh, and then a refresh. We need to go there.
No, this this symbol allows you to do a refresh without moving this. So, where where was it?
It was here
and gather. Okay. Yeah.
So, you can refresh your cards.
All right.
All right. That's me. Back to you, Naveen.
Wow.
So, we are now at 33. This is sudden death.
All right. Let us go down with some glory. Uh, we're going to move.
Okay.
Hello, pieces.
So, you must stop there.
Stay with all you fine folk. There we are. Uh, okay.
Wow.
And then, uh, so that's move.
Okay.
I'm going to gather this one. This one is the one that allows me to take the, uh, action of one of the cards.
Which one?
It's going to be this one. This one says, uh, basically I get to do the bottom. So, I can solve.
Okay.
Which is exactly what I need. Uh, this hex, I believe, is hex 8. So, let's
I'll hit it under there.
Definitely hex eight.
This is hex eight right here. So,
it's three.
Yeah, it's hex three.
All right. So, then that means it has to be this one. Yeah,
that's fine. We can do this.
Uh, it needs to spend two G. One, two. Yep. Two G. It gains me a coin
and
and three power. One, two, three. Uh, then this would basically tuck here.
Yeah.
I'm one/3 towards this goal. Here
you are.
So, it looks good.
Yeah, it does look good.
There we go. All right. That's
all right. I'm going to finish the game. I'm going to go here. I'm going to trade. So, I pay one coin to take two wood. It doesn't really have to be two, but I'll just do that.
Yep.
Um, actually here.
And then I'm going to I gain a power.
It's not
I'll do it for you.
Nothing, but thank you.
It's a thing.
And I'm going to pay one wood to build a structure. So, the structure has to be built on a territory that has a worker with no other structure.
Yes,
that's all.
So, this has a structure.
Yeah.
But this does not. structure does not. So, I'll build it there.
There you are.
Built my monument. That is
going to this corner here.
Three buildings.
Let's get you a coin, Monique, for building that building. That's, you know, that's true.
I think the game ends immediately, but yeah,
the game will end. Yes, because I'm placing out my fourth star here, which only required three of my four buildings. And that is it.
Dang it.
I placed my fourth star.
Came down to the battle.
The game is
I was close there. I had I had a play.
That was the closest it could have possibly have been. I was feeling
if you won the battle.
If I won the battle,
you would have won. No, it really came. If I won the battle, I would have won in that turn because I had a corruption and then did my anytime action. So, I would have got two stars in one turn.
Oh,
yeah.
You already had two
in that moment.
I had the power and I had the form after.
Wow. The entire game.
Yeah. No, the game came down to it. That's why I was like, I got to go like the card I had was a week two.
Yeah.
And it gave me plus one for every unit in the combat. I can't go into the hex that has three mechs because then now you can play three cards. Yes.
So So a plus three to your three cards.
Yeah. Moving on to that hex with my single character.
It was just sitting there. I was like okay
was the right move. I really should have moved that out there. But I didn't want you to be able to just move anywhere. I I like force the threat.
I didn't get out of this whole area here. I only hung out in these houses. I never saw these places.
I needed to put another mech in there. I needed to move another mech and have at least two, you know,
and it worked out. Yeah. But yes, if you wanted that not to be an issue. Yeah.
Yeah. But it was an issue.
Yeah. You kind of hung out there and I was like,
it came down to those cards because it was tough. Without it, you would have been working on something you weren't working on because in this game, you really have to focus.
And if you're not working on something now, you're forced to pivot.
Like it's it's not going to really,
especially early on, you can't spread yourself too thin. You have to like hit something hard. And I had uh this card here that I would So I I I did this one, but I didn't need to do this, you know, technically if the game was going to be longer.
This one says cuz I had the purple worker. Gain a card from the sweep pile. So that's everything that was in the trash.
This card was in the sweep pile. So I I would have done this, got this card, and now they're all the ones. And I would just go back and forth here and just solve solve solve.
Oh wow.
But
again, you have to have the solve actions.
Mhm. which is nice here because this was out there. So, this would have been one solve. This would have been one solve and then I would have just I kind of would have fizzled out. I think I would have only had two and you would have ended the game by that point. So, but yeah, there you go. Yeah,
that was intense. That was um that was Scythe versus Expeditions in Duel of Melo. Now, again, this game can be played Scythe versus Scythe, Expeditions versus Expeditions. There's a tournament at Melo that comes with the game. You can also uh use the factions from the base game of Scythe and the expansions I believe to replace this one instead of this specific faction when playing this game. You just cannot use airships and and stuff like that.
Yeah, you can and you can also use these factions in those games,
right? Same with expeditions. You can use the expedition factions and vice versa. Yeah.
Now, I know we only had one battle, so we didn't really see a whole lot of combat cards, but I also had this card sitting in my hand for a while. No guts, no glory. It's worth seven power, but you cannot earn a combat star.
So, if you you technically could have played that, but
I debated playing it, but then I saw that I had that combination. The truth is I was actually holding on to that card because
it had another worker and like if I couldn't get a combat star, I was going to try to get a worker star by spending three of these worker cards and then just sitting there
with the rest of my
or four of these work cards and producing. Yeah. For for all eight. It's a good way to end the game in regular scythe is people kind of sleep on it and then all of a sudden you just run back here if this is your last star and then you just produce on it and then you because that's one of the ways you can get a star in Scythe.
Yes.
So yeah.
Yeah. It's tough because you can't really control hex is that way. But I was going to try to do that with these cards but I ended up spending one to be able to do that double card action. Uh which is this ambush. There's also swarm tactics. Increase the value of this card by plus one per year which is the one that you did. Survey the battlefield. increase the value of this card by plus one per each other combat card played. So if you if I had something like this, this could have done a lot.
That's why I was like, I'm not going into that battle over.
So there a total of eight of these combat cards. I think we saw a majority of the melo cards. There really are just a bunch of combinations of just refresh
different abilities. It's not like a whole slew of them. And otherwise, there's also another side to the triumph track. So, if you wanted to play with the B side, it has two combat spaces and it has other things. So, like the meld um goal was not in our game.
A lot of cards too, unfortunately.
So, I did a bunch of upgrades and it wasn't a thing there.
So, now power doesn't matter, but guile matters in this one.
Yeah, I think this is is controlling seven. So, it's just a a different combination of things to kind of go for. And also, there is an opposite side of this board. So, it has green greenery and it's also just a different uh configuration of hex's.
