Transcript 36:26

Heat. Heat.

the goodest Good mornings to you all. I'm Tom Vassel.

I'm Z Garcia.

I'm Joey Evans.

Hi. We're glad you're here joining us for the news. We're glad about some people than others. We want to say thanks to some of our game found backers.

Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. If you didn't back our game found, you get a a passing hello.

Mhm.

Ha. The hell's are for the BAP?

I'm assuming that's gaming community in Tampair, Finland. It says caming, but that can't be right.

Finland. LT and KT from Anchorage.

Oh,

and Kristen Westm from Sweden.

Constantine Avutski.

David Felton. Hey, I know him.

Do you actually?

Yeah. Michelle and the Amazing Jacob from Canada.

The Amazing Jacob.

So, who wrote that? I know him.

Was it Jacob or Michelle who wrote that?

Oh, it was Michelle.

You think so?

You think it was Jacob?

I think it might have been Jacob. The amazing Yeah. Michelle does not think that highly of him. And then Jerome Jerome Jonce, he wrote, "Good luck, Tom." Or you could just You could have just told me how to pronounce you. You got a reputation.

Yeah, I do.

I love it. Wow. Okay. [clears throat]

Anyway, it's the news. We also want to mention Well, you know what? Let's just get started news because I always say this and then we go ahead and mentioning the first thing we want to mention, of course, is Dice Tower West. Mhm.

Uh registration is live now, but more importantly,

uh before the end of September is when you still have the early bird pricing for the hotel for the Westgate.

Um I know someone who's at the Westgate right now.

Really?

Yeah. They're in a jiu-jitsu tournament,

which is a very different kind of tournament. Also, I'm very nice to this person. Um

you better be. Who do you know who who is good enough at jiu-jitsu to be at a tournament in Vegas? I agree. It's a guy from my church and I would never guess it. He's a smaller, quiet guy. I was like, "Hey,

I was talking about something." He said, "Yeah, this week I'll be in Vegas." I was like, "Why? I'm in a jiu-jitsu tournament." I went and looked it up online. Indeed, he is. He got like third last year. I like, "Sir, anyway, do you want me to carry stuff to the car for you?"

Wow. Okay, that's cool. That's very cool. I love it.

I was going to be in it, too, but I couldn't make the flight.

Well, you couldn't get the time off,

right? That's what it is. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That certainly didn't help.

I'm doing you a favor. like not another jiu-jitsu tournament.

Anyway, the Westgate fun place fun gaming dicetowerwest.com.

All right.

The only thing I've ever done is I did wrestling when I was little and judo a little bit.

Judo seems like the one where you use your opponent's moves against them.

No, that's that

that's taekwondo.

That's that crap that uh

Joey's lookalike does.

A you Steven.

Yeah. What's his thing? I don't know what

Steve's lookalike

with one shirt. Z.

Yeah, that's true. I guess that's true. No. Um, judo, it does help you to be smaller than the other guy. And I'm not that short, so you know, being shorter is better.

Yeah.

So,

all righty. I'm sure some chat. All right. Here we go. Airmageddon is happening.

This is pretty funny. I saw this. I thought, is this making fun of Aircon? No, it's Aircon. They're doing it.

I love it. Okay,

so here's the deal. Aircon started in 2015 and this upcoming one, the 12th Aircon is their last. So, they're ending and they you can go online and read a bunch of things and a lot of different things are happening. They decided they're ending on a high note. They're just they're ending on a big note. They're going out with a bang or an explosion or

Yeah, it looks like it.

Apparently taking the world out with them.

Okay. Okay. Good.

Okay.

So, this is going to be the final one. So, Armageddon.

Armageddon. I think this is great. This is

This is great.

Tickets are going on sale September 11th. Uh

I've been to one of these now. Maybe not the one because they did air cons in a couple of different cities in the in the UK. Yeah.

And I've been to one of them. Uh and it was a very nice time. Yeah. It was a nice small, you know, regional convention.

Did you eat like hot wings at one of them or something? Was that there?

Yeah, I was there. Yeah. Yeah. Some of the best hot wings

I've ever had. I'm still

That was great that you did that. By the way,

that I have no video of this event.

I know some of the folks in the audience were kind of filming us. We need that video.

That footage.

Give me that footage.

All right.

Before AirDon.

Mike says you went to Aircon NW.

Yeah. Yeah. Northwest

in S.

Or maybe that stands for New Hampshire.

North Wales. Anyway,

North Wales. Yes.

The DSP award nominees have been announced. This is the Deutsche Spiel Price. Oh, you did pronounce it. I thought you were just

It is generally it is generally called the DSP awards. Okay. So, the spiel dear are the biggest awards in Germany, but they're voted on by a panel of judges.

But the people of Germany and actually you could vote in these awards.

You are of Germany.

Vote vote on these. So, this is a more popular vote, but also this is a more gamer game vote for sure.

And these the winners for these are always announced at the Essen Fair.

Is that logo like for Essen or something? That is the Eston logo. Yes,

because this is where they are announced. What color?

Yeah, this is definitely they they pick great generally speaking great gamer games. Yeah.

So, they have announced their top 10

in the adult game category and then they rank them four to 10 and one to three we don't know yet.

We just know that the top three in any one of them could be the first one. So, the top three are Art and Garden from Matias Wig Furand, Boss Fighters QR.

Wow. Really? That is that is getting such love. I do not get it.

I think that I mean you'd like it fine, right? You

I like it fine.

I think it must be a bigger deal in Germany,

right,

than it is.

Well, they hadn't discovered QR codes over there till just the last few months.

And Galactic Cruise, that's kind of that's a very wide range of games.

And then ranks four through 10 because any of those three I just mentioned could be the first place. But then there's uh Lord of the Rings,

Fate of the Fellowship, right?

Yes. I can't This is That's in parenthesis Pandemic. So

Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Um Take Time, Rebirth, Cozy Stickerville.

Wow,

that's a good one.

Um Golden Flu,

Star Trek Captain's Chair. That's surprised me. That one made it. And um

Michelle, that's for Shovel Dartmore.

And then the kids games, they announced them also. And I can't pronounce any of these kids games, so I'm not going to try.

Well, that's Monkey Island. But yeah, so anyway, they will ask the winners. Yeah, we'll see.

Very cool.

Aspen has taken a long break from buying things, so they were like, "We need to get back into the shopping mode

and they bought Welcome to or the Welcome to series."

Interesting. Who did this belong to?

This was That dog Blue Cocker. Was it like uh

it was originally them uh one of the I thought one of was it Floodgate or not? I don't remember.

I think it's a French company. It might be the Blue Dog one.

No, no, they owned it there. But the distributors in America, I don't remember who it was, but they they thanked Blue Cocker um in their um in their press release. Okay. But they said that it's sold hundreds of thousands of copies and more than three million games played on Board Game Arena, which makes sense. This is the kind of game made for that.

Yeah. Yeah.

So, uh I would assume they're going to be re-releasing all these. And hey, now we there will be a welcome to in the Lord of the Rings universe probably. Oh, that is

Welcome to the Shire.

No, I want welcome to Mordor.

Well, they could do like Welcome to the Moon where you travel the places. Oh, man. I'm in. I'm suddenly in.

Do you just want to print money then? Yes. That's what you do.

Yes. Oh. Oh, wow.

Got to be excited about that.

And they said more information will be released at a further date. We just made everything up about that. We do not know what they're doing with it. That's just us guessing.

Breaking news.

All righty. So, this is a project that's on Gamefound. I just lost my pen. Anyway, uh this is a project on Gamefound, but the reason we're mentioning it is uh because they're it's also delivering in October,

which technically doesn't mean it's crowdfunding at that point. THAT MEANS IT'S

I JUST WANTED TO CLICK SOMETHING. ANYHOW, come on. You have more pins than I do.

What is going on? Is that another pen?

Oh my goodness. Where are you sitting? Oh,

did you find other pen? In other news, I GOT FIVE PENS. IT'S THE MAGIC. WELL, I DROPPED.

HI, WELCOME TO THE BOOBERS.

Five pens. I'm so happy. Anyhow, um back to this. This is from uh Luna's Magnus. Uh they are the ones who make Black Rose [clears throat] Wars.

Um and so this is Opera Magna and it's it's interesting because it's coming like directly. So if it's being released in October, that means it's already on boats. Yeah,

that's crazy.

Yeah.

What is this?

Opera Magna. It is a strategic hero game.

Okay.

It's live on game found

because it looks like an RPG or something. You know what I mean? Like

No, that is the expansion. That's all. That's why that box looks different.

Very pretty. Very pretty.

All righty. Well, you might think that Bezier Games is the only company to make werewolves. And honestly, they've dominated the market for a while with Ultimate Werewolf. If this was one of the original versions of werewolves, the werewolves of Miller's Holler

and for some reason they continue to use, in my opinion, is horrific box cover. I hate it so much. I don't like it. Um, but it's the 25th anniversary edition. So, ZGomatic, which is an Asmo Day Studios, re-releasing this. Um, I guess it's already out at this point as of as it's talking about. It came out just a few days ago. uh worldwide and blah blah blah. So, this anniversary edition will feature premier character crest enhanced with gold foil.

Oh.

Um I don't like this also because you get one of those and you're like, "What does this do again?"

Yeah.

Um

yeah, this one has tokens always. No, maybe a little little square cards. Back in the day, they were little square cards.

Square cards cuz the box was

square. Yeah, I now it's like Okay, a little shield. That's cute. I have to say the my favorite weird one I've ever seen released was a Kickstarter from some publisher. I forget who did it was the pendants. Remember the pendants?

Was that the one where you looked into it and you could see it?

Oh, that's awesome.

You would pass out like necklaces to everybody and you'd put it around your neck and then you could look in the thing and on the bottom through the through the plastic, you know, uh magnet you could see a picture of whatever and then you can just leave it there. Nobody can see it. You're wearing it. It's a cool idea, right?

Fantastic.

Yeah. I'm surprised 3D printing people haven't run with that again. Like just take the idea and be like, "Oh, we can 3D print this."

There was also a really nice coin version.

Coins are good.

Well, although that one people are like, "It's in your palm." And after a while, you know, when you hold a coin for a while, your hand gets

But then you also have to ask, "What does this do?" I like the cards. It's like, "Okay,

it tells you what's going on."

How many times a werewolf I had to redistribute stuff cuz someone goes, "I have a question." I'm like, "Well, let's redo it cuz we know you ain't a villager." Yeah. M now fortunately [clears throat]

more modern games blood the clockw things everyone has a question about their characters so it's less of an issue it's the same thing in Battlestar Galactica so it's like I don't understand something

okay sympathizer

all right Deco which just showed up here at the Dice Tower Studios and it Deco by the way is a basically it's Boatro the board game

um this uh was just received by backers very uh people are very excited about by the way it's heavy box, but it's coming back with an expansion and a reprint.

So, in one of his things somewhere, Stagmire let slip the idea that Worms Pocket is coming that

well, I mean,

Connie Slip,

this is We just had Wingspan Pocket come out.

Yeah,

I figured Worms Span Pocket was going to happen. And I mean, not to put too fine a point on it, but I'm pretty sure Fishy Span Pocket is going to happen.

All right, let's take bets on that. Which will happen first? Finsspan pocket.

Yeah.

Or another span.

Fins span pocket.

I'm still waiting for insect span or whatever.

Oh, it's going to happen.

Book span.

Bug span. This should be This should be called like dragon in my pocket though or something like that.

Is that a dragon in your pocket?

No.

That's it. That's the whole thing. That's the whole title.

Thank you. Thank you. Anyway, that's all the information. Okay. Carcasson is 25. What is this?

Speaking of that, we had to blur the picture for the

That's so funny.

What?

Wow. No, they are they are themselves blurring it. Um, Eric Martin thinks that it's a pixel carcassone game that one of the licences revealed by accident, I guess, back in May.

Um, but this is the 25th anniversary edition of the game. It's a limited edition and it's going to be released. I'm sure we'll see the cover soon enough in October. But yeah, I would guess that also is pixel. That's definitely a carcass map shaped like a meatball,

right?

Which, uh, we say trademarked from Hanslook. I don't want to get in trouble.

Don't get in trouble, baby. Yeah. Um,

you think it is a pixelated version of Carcerone, though?

Or just a tricked out version of Carcasserone?

I assume so, too. I didn't just cuz they're blurring it out. I thought they were being cute about hiding it, but maybe not. Yeah.

Huh. Okay. Carcassone pocket. Yeah.

I don't know exactly. I'm I'm kind of interested in this. Um

yeah,

I like Carcone still that we just played Carcassone. Been playing a lot of the Kirkone Labyrinth. We'll be reviewing that soon. Yeah,

that's an interesting combo.

All right, Concept Stories is coming out. So, Concept is an older party game, which I like a lot. It was basically like 20 questions. Have you ever played Concept?

I have.

Oh, it's such a cool game.

It's neat.

You put these cubes out and you're the way you put the cubes out and where you put them out. You're trying to give

get people to guess something. It takes a bit to get into, but once you understand it, it plays really well. Well, concept stories is coming from Repos who did the original concepts and um it transforms it into a tiered challenge. You want to guess something and then keep that concept in mind to get them to guess a concept related to that first one. Then build on that to guess something else. You're basically getting them to tell themselves a story by leading them through it bit by bit. First word maybe you know Shrek and then second donkey and Shrek and Dunkey go down the forest. I don't know.

Yeah. Okay. So you're getting people to tell themselves a story. I love that idea. That just cracks me up. That concept of like you want a story, tell it to yourself. But I'll help you out. I'll give you a clue.

That's how I put my kids to bed with Mad Libs.

All right,

this sounds fun. I'm sure it'll be interesting.

All right, Jump Masters. This is from Neon Night Games. This is the newest game from them. Two to four player game, which uses dice to represent the energy value of your heroes as you work to smack down the opposing teams. So, it looks like it's a a superhero or fantasy. It's hard to tell from here and they're not really clear in the description. Your heroes against other heroes, but heroes could mean anything these days.

Right. Right.

And that picture in the box, I think it's fantasy.

We do know there's a neopre mat that rolls up and goes in that box.

That we do know.

Remember when that used to be like a unique thing?

Yeah. It's like legendary like this is crazy. Comes with a mat.

I now need to figure out the best way to uncurl the ends of neoprene mats.

Impossible. Put it away the other way maybe. I don't know.

I've tried. Yeah.

Yeah. Does that help?

Can you iron them?

They're rubber. So,

no. I know. I know you can iron them.

I don't know.

Dice cream. Dice cream. We all scream for dice cream.

Pretty good. Plus it took this long to come out with a game called dice. That's where that's my takeaway.

I do wish I look at that. I'm like the artist could have done so much more with this idea.

Yeah,

I agree. It's just literally dice in there. There's not even like they don't look like scoops or nothing.

I feel like you could have really done a better that cover.

I also don't like that the word dice cream is one word. This could have easily been dice cream.

Right. Because the word ice cream is not one word,

right? It's not ice cream. It's ice cream. Right. For all that is I I've been

Yesterday I was about to yell about this in the studio anyway.

Please do. When I was going through these games, I'm tired of games where I can't tell from the cover

if it's one word or two words. There's so many games like that. I'm like, is that one word or two? I search it up in BG and it doesn't show up.

I'm like, oh, it was the two-word version of that.

This is one word as far as I can tell.

There's But also, those are real dice. You should not eat just dice cuz you put whipped cream on them.

I would eat them with whipped cream. But if there was a dice. So at the very first couple Dice Tower conventions, there was a guy who would make custom dice cupcakes that he must have paid a good chunk at the bakery to bring in.

That's pretty good.

Yeah. Well, I mean, that's good as a fondue cupboard.

I mean, they didn't roll very well, but they were delicious.

Anyway, uh this is coming from Skelelet Games, Manfred Keller and Fabian Zimmerman. A two to four player game, and this is going to hit the market well now. So, go out and find it.

Cool. It's neat.

Letter up. So, this game looks actually pretty interesting. This is from in the category of we want to make you not want to play our games as we named our company. Unfriendly games.

That's correct.

Who join horrible guild and detestable games and

lean into it.

Come on. Unfriendly though sounds the worst because horrible friendly games with horrible you go,

"Oh, that's just a joke."

Plus, it used to be called Horrible Games. Now it's called Horrible Guild and they have tentacles and woohoo. Okay, I kind of get it. But yeah, this is

unfriendly.

I'm assuming their games are then all like

right. I'm sure it is. But

it would be great if they had a booth of Gen Con and they were just like, "What?"

I mean, they leaned into it. They were like, "Fine." Yeah. You have no exact exact change.

Yeah. Exactly.

You don't want it. It's fine.

I like it. I like it. Lean into it.

Now, this game does look interesting. It's a a kind of version of Letter Up

that came out earlier.

This is Letter Up. Well, this is letter up. Sorry.

Word up is the one you're saying

upwards.

Upwards. Upwards. Yeah. Upwards.

Like the scrabble where you can go like vertical or whatever.

Anyway, you're placing letters on a 7 by7 board to create words, but it's also area control. So, when you touch the edge of the playing area with the first or last letter, you put a token next to that letter. Um, and if you touch an edge, you can replace your opponent's token with your own token. So, you're going back and forth trying to touch those on the outside. I will say reading this I went through a journey because I'm like like you can change this word to this word war. I'm like oh apparently you can use like any language that's different and I'm like

oh the entire thing is

yeah come on

I know it took me a little bit longer

except for jollies joke.

All right we played this game in the summer spectacular or we Oh never mind. I'm I'm three games ahead. I'll catch up.

Good night.

Wow. I was looking down

games ahead.

I was looking down at the screen. Got it. Okay. Okay. Uh this is

Curious Garden. This is the newest idol in the Phil Rogue series by Julian and Tom Proierre. Uh the first one was Shadow of the Tiger. And then In Their Eyes.

Um so yeah, there's a story chapters that you need to reconstruct. You're discussing the cards that you have in your hand and putting them at the beginning or end of cards and trying to form a story. It's one of those type of games.

Okay, that's neat. Pretty cover.

A lot of story stuff.

An early announcement from Kids Table Board Games. Flounder.

Oh my gosh.

Um I'm surprised anyone eats flounder with how ugly they are.

They're hideous.

Um

is that the flat one? The one that kind of looks real weird.

Bull eyes on one side or something?

Yeah.

What's wrong with them? Anyhow, this is from Jonathan Gilmore Long and David Gordon. And this is coming out at Gen Con 2027, so don't get too excited about this. It's going to be a while, but it's a handshedding trick taking. I'm surprised they're announcing it this early when it's basically a card game. And I'm not saying that to diminish card games, but that means it's done, right? Looks like

crowdfunding or anything. It's just coming out.

Yeah, I guess. Well, they announced it. So,

it's a trick taking game. You got to you got to get out ahead. I guess that's true. It's more I think card shedding than trick taking. File suit form schools of the same type or p or play a new suit larger than the biggest fish to swap the entire school for points.

Okay.

Empty your hand to collect valuable flounder cards.

Yeah, it sounds like a card shedding game.

All right, Munchkin. We played this at either the summer spectacular or last year at the winter spectacular.

Probably the winter spectacular, I think. Anyway, this is Munchkin the second edition.

Yeah. uh which is a new addition of the game. Having played it, it's it's Munchkin 1.2. Really, it's it's it's essential. If you don't like Munchkin, this ain't going to change your mind and bring you back.

It's not as mean.

I'm just kidding. It's

it's the same game basically, but it comes with this board now to keep [clears throat] track of your levels and things like that. And it's mostly backwards compatible. They changed a few things. They have a list of cards that they changed and tweaks. And it's gonna retail for 40 bucks, which is a big change from when Munchkin first came out. I think you can buy it for like nine bucks, but also came out 25 years ago, right? Yeah.

Yeah. It's a bigger box. Yeah.

So, this is coming

September 30th. So, keep an eye out.

Solo Leveling, the board game.

That's a very interesting name.

Very on the nose.

Well, it's based on some bestselling novels. Um,

solo reading it's called. Well, is there a novel called I'm going to just type this. I'm going to look it up here. Solo novel. I meant to do this before. Sorry. This is a

gripping TV. Um,

get this man more pens.

Solo Leveling. Yeah, it is a series. It's a South Korean web novel.

Web novel.

Solo Leveling. Yeah. You know, you can read

I didn't know that was like the main I don't know.

Web novel like they only release it electronically online. Is that what that means?

That's a thing.

Um,

it makes sense though.

It's digital. So you go around it. The the English translation of the title is actually only I level up.

Okay.

Um yeah, there's a whole thing about it. It came out. It started in July 25th, 2016.

Whoa.

And then was published, I guess, physically later on on November 4th. Anyway,

it's been going the final chapter was in 2021. So there's 14 books. So the whole thing's finished.

What level was he by then?

He must have been pretty high up there. In a world where hunters, human warriors who possess supernatural abilities, battle deadly monsters

to protect all mankind from certain annihilation.

Certainly,

which is the plot of every anime story ever, practically.

Anyway, he encounters a beautiful and double rare double dungeon that wipes out his own party party. A mysterious program called the system chooses him as its sole player and in turn gives him the unique ability to level up in strength, which is something no other hunter is able to do. as a hunter's abilities are set and don't level up once they awaken. So then he fights all kinds of monsters.

What?

It's like early lit RPG.

Yeah, right. That's that's what it sounds like. Yeah,

Carl. Yeah,

one level.

Any

It's a solo game.

I just watched it a few days ago.

Such a such a stupid cartoon that makes me laugh every time.

What What cartoon?

One Punch Man.

Oh,

have you ever watched it?

I watched the first couple. Man, that's so on the nose.

It's so ridiculous. title.

Anyway, this is going to come with miniatures, dungeon boards, boss game screens, dice, health, mana, a whole bunch of stuff coming from Press, E. I'm not sure how to pronounce it. I think it's

Watson and Holmes, The Lost Diaries. This is a new competitive deduction game from Luden Nova. This is coming out September 25th. This is the second Watson and Holmes game. You played the first one, right?

Yeah, about eight years ago. It's been ages. just sat unopen on my shelf forever and I finally gave up. Did you

I like it. Yes. It's a big game. Okay. So, it's like a deduction game that is going to require a lot of everybody sitting around the table quietly taking notes. So, not the most interactive thing in the world, but if you like, you know, Sherlock Holmes stories, you love deduction real, you know, yeah, it's cool. You go around, you read cards, you can lock things so somebody else is slowing, you know, slowing them down because it's not co-op at all. You're trying to figure it out, but it's fun. It's very good.

Does this look the same?

It's exactly the same except in blue.

All right. I meant the game.

Oh, yeah.

Okay. I didn't know if it was a different

I don't remember the sort of stacking cards on cards. This looks a little different. Yeah.

All right.

Ambar. This is from Mibo. Uh, this is a game from Nuno Santos, uh, who was the co-designer of Floresa, also from Aibo Games. Um,

Floresa, is that the forest fire one?

Yeah, we, uh,

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Um, so in Amber, there's four different colors of amber with values one to six. Four copies of each. It's very abstract here. You're taking it and stacking them on the board, revealing them, and Yeah. But it looks I like those pieces.

Yeah. I'm trying to figure out what's going on in that picture. She's like looking at the Amber going, "This is cool." But what is he doing?

Is he like shocked that I know is he shocked that she found that? Is he upset?

Or is he falling asleep?

I really don't know what's going through his head right there. Yeah.

Did you just touch that? We're all going to die now. U all right. Don't be confused by the title of this game. Misborn, the Well of Ascension is an expansion for Misborn, a deck building game. Has nothing to do with the deck building game called Ascension.

Oh, yeah, right. I hadn't put that together.

I don't think that would be a confusing thing.

This is Misborn Enormous.

When I first heard about it, well, I'm like, oh, another Ascension expansion in the Misborn universe. No, the Misborn deck building game from Brother Wise did pretty well here from John Declair. So, this is featuring the second book in the Misborn series. The first one was the first book. The second book where things change dramatically if you play the first book. The first book you could read

almost as a one and done. It's not really. It's like the beginning of

which I think I did in the second one. Yeah.

You don't finish series. You still haven't finished book three.

I have a big problem with that. I know

for Brandon Sanderson fans, he has read half of book three. I don't know how he

he gives you a hundred characters. Like there is no way you He stopped before the end of book three. The best ending in any book series I've ever read.

Book three of the Misborn series.

I stopped in book two.

I've read I'm like maybe a third into the first book.

It's good though, right?

It's pretty good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

It's a very easy read. I love

definitely like he does not do a he does not do one thing like the whole they burn metal and do things. Yeah. Like 12 metals. I'm like, my gosh, my man, can't there be like three things? Everything's got to be

I think I think if you like Misborn, though, knowing you, you would like the second trilogy better.

The Western.

Yeah, because you like Western. And

well, I want to read some of this stuff before I jump into the Western to have a point of reference. But, uh, no, I'm liking it. I think it's cool.

He's a good world builder. I like that about Brandon.

He makes it complicated. So, in board gaming, every once in a while, we come out with a small little game and everyone's excited about it. Uh, for example, what's the little back and forth space fighting ones?

Yeah, the

the building.

No, what's the little deck building game that we played? The legacy version of Star. Stars came in a box like this. It was exciting. But then eventually they released a box bigger than Twilight Imperium. Not an exaggeration, right?

Minebug said we can do that, too. Minebug, a small little game.

I have yet to play Mindbug, but it is a small game, right?

Oh, it's very small. You have like 14 cars you're really kind of playing with. It's very very small. This is This is the size of a Calllex. Not a Call Cube. A Call.

No, [clears throat] but the box comes with 250 cards in it. Um, with four standalone expansions if you haven't got them. Beyond Evolution, Beyond Eternity, Battle Fruit Kingdom, and Battle Fruit Galaxy

and it's 50 bucks for this whole thing. This is fine. I really really like Mindbug, but there comes a limit where I'm not

The whole thing about Mindbug was always I said this is like a streamlined small Magic the Gathering. Yeah, it really tiny. I don't need it to be Magic the Gathering.

Stop doing this stuff and get me more Final Titan.

Oh,

I want more Final I I'll take a Final Titan box this big.

To be fair, Final Titan did unlock like a hundred and some characters. Yeah, but it fits in the size of a box of

Ticket to Ride

because each character is just a sheet. That's all it is.

Yeah.

I'm talking about mindb. I'm getting excited about Final Titan. I really love that game.

The balance of Final Titan.

Fantasy Realms is doing an Egyptian edition. They did a Greek edition this year. So now Egypt. Um.

Huh.

You are the only one that played the Greek. Did you play it?

I did not particularly care for it. Oh,

I did not play it. No. No. He played it. Didn't love it. Yeah. I know this is going the way of like Ticket to Ride for some reason. Do we really need to do this with Fantasy Realms?

You both like Fantasy Realms itself, right?

I do. Yeah, sure. But also, why?

Yeah, this one I might play cuz it's Egyptian. But

you like Egyptian things, right?

I like Egyptian things. So,

your wife's from Egypt.

She thinks

No, Australia. That's the one. Same thing.

It's close.

All right. And finally,

Wow, this is a very rad picture that they really want.

They want you to be scared. Renegade is re-releasing Castle Ravenloft, the board game. So, Castle Ravenloft came out a decade or so ago, more than that, I think.

It is a cooperative game.

I would actually call it I always tell people it's not really a dungeon crawler. You do go through a dungeon and with your characters and fight stuff, but it feels like a cooperative game with a D20 system. You level up once over the course of the game. You can go to level two and

solo level. They made multiple They made multipleh versions of this. There was uh Wrath of a Shardon, The Legend of Drift. I think there was five versions and then Whiz Kids made another three. And I don't know where the Whiz Kids ones are in this, but I do know they're going to release this one. And I would be blown away if they didn't do Drift.

You know what I mean?

That's the dragon one, right?

No, Drift is the dark elf.

Dragon's Wrath of a Sharp.

This is vampire.

Yes, Vampire. This is one of the most popular or whatever

universes for Dungeons [clears throat] and Dragons.

I do like vampires. It's been ages since I played the original one. I played one of them, the first one, I guess, and I I had some issues with it, but it's also been so long. I'd be curious to see what these guys do with it. Yeah.

Are they going to do something with it? Are they going to reprint it?

Have you ever played them?

Played one of the ones you mentioned, uh, the newer one.

From what I understand, it's essentially a straight reprint with the exception that they are making two versions of it. They the there's the regular version which is 100 and then the premium edition for 200 which I'm pretty much guarantee will sell more.

The regular is 100

full of miniatures man.

I I in fact people bought these games to use the back in the day they bought them to use the miniatures in D and D because it was a pretty good price back then. All games were expensive now. But you get the painted miniatures and that was not available at the beginning.

Right. You could also, when you bought all these sets, you could take heroes and monsters and mix and match them because when you go into a room, you basically flip the top monster and that's the monster you fight. So, you could just make a huge stack. But it also is weird dilution. I've done it like, "Oh, we're in Castle Ravenloft." It's a Marsh zombie. Why is he in Castle Ravenloft? Cuz that's the card we drew,

right?

I am. And then they made a two they made a one versus one little um tactical game that could use the miniatures from [clears throat] this in it and there's all kinds of things. But for now, this is a fun game. It's great for um families. This is like a family cooperative game. It's real easy to play. You essentially are using one of your abilities each turn to move and fight and you roll d20 to attack. And everything's based on a d20 in this.

You said renegade, right?

Renegade. Yes.

Yeah. This is very much in their wheelhouse right now. Bring this back.

They've been working with Hasbro to reprint a lot of these older games. They just did um Lords of Water Deep.

Oh, okay. Yeah.

You know, so this is the next one. And I like I said, if they're doing this one, I would assume they're doing more of them.

Yeah.

All right, folks. That is the news for today. We'll be back in 26 minutes to show you the 10th anniversary edition of King Domino

um with a new mini expansion included with it. So

uh and then later on today we're going back 10 years and talking about

I know

the golden age of board games

games from 2016. Well, [clears throat]

one of the most banging years of all time.

Is it actually though?

Yes.

2016 is one of the best years of gaming for [clears throat] for sure. Yes. I think it's a really good year.

Okay,

I might watch this.

You would not know from looking at Z's picks from I went back and looked at your picks from 2016. You haven't done that yet.

Like go back and look at what I actually like my top 10 of the year.

Yeah. Did you do it?

No.

Don't do it. I'm

Oh, wait. Wait till we do the thing. I I wrote yours down so we can

Yeah, sure. Cool. Okay. Yeah, it sounds great. I will not look.

Now you're more excited. I will sit right there. I'll watch you guys.

You can definitely come in and be an audience.

I have I'm going to

I have a kneeling bench. Any I kind of I don't need anymore, man.

Anyway, until next time, I'm Tom.

I'm Zy.

I'm Joey.

Byebye.
