Fearless - Tutorial & Playthrough
[music] I'm >> Yeah. You want to go and get Gary? Evening everybody. Welcome to Paw Player Fearless or Bloss. This is the German version, although it's language independent and it does come with an English rule book. Gary's joining us tonight because we are playing a scary scary game. This is the latest in the Freedom and Freir quick tricktaking games.
It was released at Essen Spiel. Thank you very much to 2F Spieler for the review copy of the game. This isn't a sponsored playthrough video, which means we're going to be doing a review. So, after we've played the game, we're going to be talking about it at the end. And if you're just interested in what we think about the game, there will be a time stamp.
Skip ahead. But not if you're watching live because that's that unless you're a time traveler. And if you're a time traveler, skip ahead. Probably 30 minutes, 40 minutes, something like that. Um, but yes, welcome to tutorial and play through. I've already taught you how to play. Took all of two minutes, but we're now going to teach you how to play.
So, we're going to be playing this game over four rounds. It's four rounds because there are four players. If it there were five players, it would be five rounds. Three players, three rounds. I think it's three to five. Three to five. Yeah. So, no solo mode, not even a two-player game. Three to five player game.
We take out certain cards from the deck depending on the number of players. I believe with five players, we don't take out any cards, but with four players, we have taken out some cards. We've got 13 cards each. And you'll notice we have a board here with all of our ghosts who are in a little cabin in the middle, and it goes from minus 30 to plus 30.
So, we're going to be playing the game over four rounds. At the end of a round, you will score points depending on where you are on here. And the interesting thing, or one of the interesting things of this game is that if you're on the plus 18, you score 18 points. If you're on the minus 18, you score 18 points.
So, it's basically it's how far you are away from zero, and that's how many points you score. And you don't want to score points. You want the lowest points possible in this game because I think the points represents how scared you are. Not that not that that matters. Now, you might think, well, let's just not win a trick at all and let's stay where we are in the cabin.
But if you do, it's 15 points. So, if you don't win a single trick, you will get 15 points at the end of the round. So, how do you get how do you move up and down this track? Well, first of all, we need to determine the star player, which will be first one out. What's that? Me, purple. >> Fix. >> So, I'm going to start the trick.
And as normal trick taking games go, the person who starts the trick, the color of the card that they play leads uh is is the lead suit. So, I will play a card, for example. Oh, I don't know. I haven't quite got the strategy of this game. I'm going to go orange plus four. Right now, Rob, if he has an orange card, he must play the orange card.
You have to follow suit if you can. But there is an exception. There are zeros in the game. The zeros are wild cards, and you can always play a zero if you want to play a zero. So, Rob, >> I play an orange. Bring us down to plus two. >> Yeah. So, what Rob does is he declares what the current running total is.
So, I played plus4. Rob's played a minus two. So, the current total is now plus two. That means whoever wins this trick is currently going to move up two. But Becky >> minus one. So, we're currently at >> one. >> Plus one. >> So, plus two. >> Plus two. Right. So, once we've all played, the winner of the trick is the player who played the highest value.
So, I played a plus4. So I win the trick and it's a net plus two. So that's not too bad. >> That's a pretty good start. >> That is actually a pretty good start. That's how the game works. So essentially, you all play cards. You have to follow suit if you can. The twist in the game is normally in trick taking games.
It's the player uh who No, it's it's still the same rules. You have to play a card of the lead color in order to be able to win, but the value of the card still affects the total. So there is still the potential. There's a lot of potential, especially later on, to to screw over other people. >> Yes.
Well, that that that that worked. Okay. >> Camera. >> Um Okay. So, let's play orange plus three. Orange eight. So, we're eight. >> Putting your plus four and you put your plus. >> You don't want to put your plus six in because then you'll win it. >> So, is it the is it the highest card that will win or does it have to be an orange that wins?
>> It has to be an orange that wins. >> Highest orange. >> Okay. So, >> but that is going to affect But you can only do that if you don't have orange. >> I don't have orange. >> So, we're now on 11. But >> we're now on 14. >> 16. Well, well done, Rob. Oh, >> congratulations. >> Four wins, right? >> Yeah.
[laughter] >> In your dreams. There you go. >> And that's the game. That's how it that's how it plays. Um there's a few little twists to the game. Like you can start with a zero. If you do start with a zero, then the next player to play a color determines what the suit is. A zero can win if it is the highest value.
And if multiple people play a zero, it's whoever played one first. >> Plus three blue. Just three blue >> minus two uh two blue notus >> plus two >> plus two blue minus three blue minus three blue a. >> So I'll play that to make it plus one. That's okay. I I'll have plus one. >> Right. What we going to do now?
Well, that has a very large potential to completely screw me over. So, >> then we're only having four rounds. Is that right? >> Yeah. >> Four rounds. Each round is 13 cards. >> Yeah. So, we we'll go to the deck four time. >> Oh, I see. Yeah. >> See, the thing is you you play a low value because you don't want to get stung for up here.
But if you play a low value, you're probably not going to win it. Yeah. Um but you might. So I'm going to play plus one pink. That's four pink. Four pinks. Six pinks. More pinks. Okay, more pinks to roll. >> We're just ganging up on Robin. >> I'm used to it. It's the kicking under the table. [laughter] >> That's Gary.
Yeah, >> it's sort of helpful being second or third, isn't it? And you can kind of get a bit more of an >> I think going first is Yeah, because you're then being action >> minus three orange. >> I do love the uh the little artwork style on the cards as well. It's very cute. The monsters are very cute.
>> You have no >> two. I have no orange. Still plus two. >> Plus two. And orange is currently winning it. So who's who's winning it? Robbiey's winning this. And it's at plus two. >> Aren't I technically winning it? >> So you're technically winning. Yeah, you are. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And it's plus two.
>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So I don't want to play that. Be terrible. But >> minus four better than plus 15. >> So when we have when we have to play the card, we have to play the color. If we have zeros, do we have to play a zero? >> You you you can always choose to play a zero even if you have the color.
>> Okay. But if we don't have the color, >> you can play anything you want. >> Okay. That was kind of my hope that >> yeah there >> you are not forced to play a zero. >> Gotcha. >> Okay, that's going to go bad. Let's try plus four green. I will say where are you at the moment? You're here. That's the other thing I like about this game is it isn't always the same value on every hand.
It depends where you are on the track as to how the value of that hand is for you. So I'm assuming you two are going to put in big negatives to get Chris to go further down here. So I'm going to put in a plus two. So it's at plus six plus five. >> Okay. So that's actually really good for you plus one and you win it.
>> Okay, >> there you go. Interesting. >> Interesting. >> We can't play the cards we don't have. So >> have you not got an extra set of cards under your [laughter] plus one? >> Oh, right. Okay. Well, this might not work. So I will play that. Plus four. Plus four. minus two. >> Oh, perfect. Thank you.
You should have played that on Chris. >> Feel like I was picking on >> Well, everyone else, [laughter] >> I need to win something. Otherwise, I'm going to get plus 15. I don't like the look of that. >> Okay, let's go with >> I just ask if So, once you've moved off 15, you're never going back. You've got the zero space.
You're never going back there again, are you? >> Yeah. scary thing. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Or else into the world. >> Am I going to play >> now? No, that will completely mess me up. So, I'll save that for other people. [laughter] I'm going to play a blue minus two minus five. Do I try and >> got to get out of that cabin?
>> Yeah. >> 11us 11. >> I haven't got the right. >> And I'm currently winning this. >> Yeah. >> What are you on at the minute? >> Minus 11. >> No. Where are you? >> Oh, I'm here. That'll smack him. >> That'll smack me down to here. I might as well do that then. >> Oh, it's minus 15. [laughter] So I'm here.
>> Yep. >> Okay. I mean, it's easier to go up than down. >> Wouldn't have made big enough difference. Wouldn't you win it? No point. >> Now, this is interesting because I know you don't have any. >> But oh, >> I guess you could try and stop me getting any. If everyone just kept playing oranges, then they know I'm not going to win one, which would be a bit I guess would be a way, wouldn't it?
I'm going to go plus two blue. I don't think I'm going to win this one. But am Ius three? >> Minus three. >> Oh dear. >> Minus two. >> Yay. >> Plus four. >> Plus four. Oh, look at that. >> Nicely done. Now it comes. Yeah. Let's do minus two green. I'll drop it down to minus 6. I'll keep it at minus 6.
>> - 9. That wins. >> Yeah. >> No. Rob win with a zero. >> Yeah. >> Wins with a zero. >> Yeah. >> And what is it? >> Ninus n >> minus nine. I played Rob. Of >> course. >> I didn't do on purpose. That was the only done for you. >> Was that on 19? Yeah, it wasn't. >> You're on 20. >> Wasn't 20, was it?
>> Yeah. And you just lost nine. >> Yep. So I was going from being in a strong position and now yeah mine's not. >> Uh do I do what is probably going to lose me points or what is going to lose Rob points? Well, Rob wants the minus >> in which technically worse. So, let's do that. Jewels. >> So, what's it at?
>> Minus five with Chris winning. >> Minus five with Chris winning. >> Yeah. >> So, we'll zap it count to minus 10. >> Yeah. Should I just let you lose the points? [laughter] >> I don't think either of these >> it feel bad and I'm not going to sleep tonight. [laughter] >> Don't believe you. >> I do, but that's not >> Yeah, I'm not going to sleep because >> minus five green.
>> Oh, except that was my choice to get me out of the whole Ah, okay. I'm screwed. This isn't going to work. >> Me, too. >> Yeah. >> So, you're winning. Let's drop it down even further. Minus eight. >> It's problemat. But >> Oh. Oh, but I mean that's plus two. Uh, yeah. Minus two. >> Yeah, that's good for you.
>> Save me losing all the points. So, >> I'll pay for that once. >> It's two. >> So, it's plus two. >> Two. And you win. >> Yep. >> Right. Last card. >> Five. And >> no. Then zero. >> Oh, plus plus. Yeah. 10. And these cancel out. >> Yeah. Plus plus 10. >> Ouch. Start with a five and a six in green.
>> Okay. But 15 for me. >> So, uh, Paul, Rob, Becky, Chris. So Paul >> 16 >> 14 >> sorry 14 >> 14 >> Oh 14. Sorry. >> Uh Rob 23. >> Yeah. >> Becky 15. Chris >> nine. >> Nine. Chris is winning. >> Round two. >> Who went first? >> You did. >> I did. Rob, you're first. >> Do we start back in the same? >> Everybody goes back into the cabin.
It's basically four separate games. >> Um but you add up the points. pretty trick taker style, isn't it? One one set number of players. >> Uh yeah, the rule book does show out Hands and Glug for letting him use the mele. >> Um I I Well, it's not for letting him use the mele, it's for letting him use the ghost.
So this this ghost is designed by Hans and Gluck and um they gave them permission to use the same the same thing. Why do they look like mists over carcass? That will be why then. Yeah. Why [laughter] I can give you fellow? Oh, thanks. Oh, that's very interesting. >> Talking to Gary, >> huh? Well, this is an interesting start.
>> Mhm. >> Let's go with it. >> So, have we worked out a strategy or or not? >> Yes. Don't deal the cards at random. [laughter] >> Yeah. I'd like to say yes. >> Let's do green. >> The answer is no, if I'm honest. >> Yes. Yeah. My major strategy was whilst no one was watching deal myself [laughter] there.
>> Uh that's one three. >> So we're at three. >> Do we think Beck is going to leave the house this time? I don't know. I'll try. I mean that would be spend the entire game never leave. >> Representative of my actual life. No, >> I'm an indoor cat. >> It'll be interesting to see if uh doing it then means you win or lose.
Yeah, >> they could there could still be a strategy there of you. >> Well, I had no zeros last time and I had three suits after the first. >> Yeah, you had them all, didn't you? So, >> what was that? >> Oh, >> so what are we at? >> Five, six, seven, plus eight. >> Really? Yeah. >> You want to do that?
What if I come in and play the plus four? >> Yeah, you probably will. Go. No, that's Oh, that's Chris. Yeah, not me. >> There you go. That's >> it's not 15. But [laughter] >> so >> if you are coming to Gridcon next weekend, this is going to be in the library. >> I weekend. >> It's next weekend. >> Let's come around.
>> I suspect it might get borrowed quite a lot as it's very good, very quick. >> Minus four >> and a lot of fun. >> Minus four in blue. So, let's let's make it minus one. Okay, let's make it plus one. >> Do I go on? >> I'm going to have to cuz I need some points. I >> So, plus five. You're out of the house.
>> Yeah. >> There you go. >> You can't stay at home all the time, can you? >> There we go. Okay. Um, what have I got here? Greenus 3. >> Greenus three. Let's go with green minus one. So, minus 4. Green minus 4. Yeah. - one. Nice seven. >> Oh, >> all part of the plan. >> Was the plan to crash and burn?
>> The dustly plan. >> I'd have got away with it if it were kids. >> Who is undergar? [laughter] It's actually been Ricky all along. [laughter] Uh, okay. Orange plus four. Orange minus two. Orange six. >> Orange minus one. >> Yep. And it's yours. >> And it's yours. Nice. >> You back down one. >> One way.
You could have slam p. [laughter] But if if he had a green minus four. Yeah. I would have been down [laughter] to here. And there is something in the rule book for if you go off the 30. I can't remember what it is instantly lose the game. No, [laughter] I think you just make a note and keep moving or something >> loop back around.
>> Take plus 30. So then get >> really mess horribly negative. So we'll minus four. Uh, I'm going to say so pink minus oneus six. >> Stop helping me. [laughter] >> Minus two. That's perfect. >> Yeah, perfect. >> Absolutely fair. You just you get a bit hedgy then when you're starting theme any of those.
So we'll go blue plus one >> just a just a just a little water >> blue zero. So, where's Becky? Becky's there. >> Oh, but that's going to help you. [laughter] That's going to help. That's going to help you. That's going to help you even more. And that's going to screw me over. >> Oh, all your options are great there.
[laughter] >> Let's go for it. >> Okay. >> So, that's putting on plus six. Okay. >> Which would be great for me. Oh, >> that's actually all right. >> I'll have that. Two, three, four. Wasn't sure what you had. >> I've just noticed that the pluses are uh in dark and the minuses are quite Thanks. Little things.
The graphic design is actually really good. >> It is. It is. >> Numbers are really big. You got icons in the corner. If you can't see the color, >> it's in all the four corners. It's just Yeah. >> Yeah. That's really good. The little ghost icons are very cute. >> Yes. >> Right. So, where are we? Currently at minus three.
>> We could all try and just keep robbing the house this time. Let me out. [laughter] It's your turn. >> [snorts] >> I was recording with this old blow green than Necronomicon. There's a lot of screaming from the basement. Want to [laughter] play orange plus two. >> Okay. Orange minus three. >> Orange zero.
It's not good for me if I just have to be orange. I'll take it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> That's That's actually good for you. >> That's lovely. >> Okay, we're getting the right there, Rob. You're all right. Help. I'm stuck at the base. There's a moose head on the wall laughing at me. Orange minus three.
>> Orange plus three. It didn't end up well for me, but it would have ended up the same. Okay. >> Orange plus one. >> Plus two. >> Let's see. You just need to make a plus. It's bad. We're doing worse. I played that last hand though. The the plus sixes are so dangerous, >> especially later on in the game cuz the colors have gone >> and anybody can just go, "Okay, I'll put another plus six down over." Yeah.
>> Only leading is terrible when they're pluses cuz now I need to try and lose points, but I can't lose points. >> But if you're playing minus, you won't win it. >> Yeah, exactly. >> It's It's very very clever. >> It's really clever, isn't it? Yeah, I like it. >> Free is a genius. >> Think plus one.
Minus - 22. >> Um, who do I want to win this? Do I want to win it? Do I want to make on minus two? >> If you put big big minuses in, then I'm screwed. >> Yeah, let's do that. >> Oh my god. [laughter] >> Do I want to win it into seven? Oh jeez. I'll stick with that. But you see, he's still not scoring as badly as I am on this round.
>> Yeah, that's true. >> Yeah, that's true. >> I've gone with my tactic of >> Oh, this hasn't worked at all. >> Plus 13 is better than plus 15. >> This has not worked. And given how this has fallen, the next four turns be very interesting. Cards would be really bad. [snorts] >> Yeah. Well, blue minus 6.
I don't think I'm winning this, but if nobody else puts a blue in. >> So, we're still minus six. >> We're still minus six, but Rob's winning it. >> Play a positive and it's yours. Be a negative and it's mine. >> Yeah. Um >> or blue positive. >> Yeah. It's a bit of a risk though, so I don't know what you've got.
>> So, we're at minus one. >> Minus one. Yeah. >> That's perfect for you, but >> but it could >> you No, that's actually good. >> Okay. Plus seven now plus five plus seven. Sorry. It's all right. Could have gone worse. >> Oh dear. Um, >> it's reached the sharp end. >> Yeah, plus one orange. So, >> we're at plus six.
Plus six. >> I'm still winning it. I don't like the look of that. Plus four. >> Okay, that's >> zero. >> Okay, four. All right, could be worse. >> So, four. >> One, two, three, four. >> Two cards left. >> Rob's running out of oxygen. >> Five blue. >> It does. - 7 - 10 - 10. I'm out of the house. Zero.
[laughter] >> Thank God for that. But that would have been minus for me. >> Yours. Yeah. [laughter] >> How many zeros have you got? >> He's had all mine cuz I had zero this game. >> Got your own printing [laughter] junior. Right. Last card. Zero. >> Four of them. >> So it's pink. Pink is the color. >> I'm going to get it.
>> Except you've been quite lucky. >> Oh. So it's only minus three, which is great for you. Yeah, that's good. >> One, two, three. >> That could have been horrific. >> So I scored >> minus 11. So 11. >> So 11. Rob >> 10. >> 10. Becky >> eight. >> Eight. Chris >> 13. >> Okay. So scores on the doors. I'm on 25.
Rob's on 33. Becky's on 23. Chris is on 22. There >> was massive cards in the first one. All four zero. [laughter] I was just pleased cuz I had two big pluses and I was on big plus. I was like, I just need to get rid of these and I'm not going to win. >> Or the other one is hold the end and then I hope you get the off.
>> Yeah, that was the other. Yeah, >> but it can bite you if you don't laugh. >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> You'd never do that. Well, >> did I even shuffle? >> Being on minus is okay because it's >> Did I even shuffle? >> You shuffle. It's easier. I think it's easier to get positive. >> Oh, full pull. >> I think [laughter] so.
Yeah, because because you can always just play a high positive towards the end of back. >> If you're playing a >> If I'd have got a negative to start with, I'd have been happier because I could have probably got myself easier into >> positive than Becky to go first. I will go with a plus two blue. Let's make it zero.
Zero on blue. Yeah. Let's make it minus 6. >> Oh, that's smart. >> That's Rob's got the plus. Yeah. >> Perfect. >> Yeah. So, you leave the house and you're on the zero. >> Yeah. See if I can keep it, though. [laughter] Yeah. Hit a very low scoring round to get myself back in the game. So, no blues. We are at plus six minus one.
>> Uh plus one, sorry. Okay, I'll drop it down to minus two. Okay. Thank you. Rob wins all the tricks and we're all inus. >> It's one zero. Sorry. My brain >> zero with with Chris winning it. Yes. >> Yeah. Chris, no math. Good. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> So, minus four. Okay. Avoid just constantly seeing Paul's hand every time he twist.
So, that's minus 4. Yeah. Okay. It's three orange potential screwage incoming. [laughter] Three, two, one. Plus five. Well, not much because you played a three, so there can't be. Yeah, >> guess you didn't have any choice. Okay, that's all right. >> It's minus eight then. >> I'm trying to go for the opposite at least.
If I go into minus, I can hopefully bring it backward. >> That's what I thought last time and then got stuck there and >> left it too late to get back. >> We will see. We will see. lost in the woods. Then the screaming started. >> So, let's do three blue. Okay. + 2 - 2 >> - 8. >> Oh, awful. >> Get down.
>> What's that? >> 16 - 16. Put your teeth and carry on. [laughter] This is just Uh, one. It's all right. >> Very good for you. >> One, two, three. >> That's how you get back up. Negative. >> Just one. minus five destroys you. Um, still need to get out of the house though. So, you still you're still going to beat me?
>> Well, thanks very much, Becky. >> Oh, nice. >> Plus one. Yep. So, out of the house. Hey, buddy. What's too green? plus one green. That's five green halfway to the next stage. [laughter] Minus three. Great. >> That's actually good for you. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I'm not going to remember two greenus two.
- four. I was worried about that. Plus six plus three pink >> minus uh five. Uhoh. Minus five. >> A really nice use of a little zero there, wasn't it? >> Well, I wanted to play a minus, but I didn't trying to want to do >> five orange. [snorts] What do you want? You want pluses to >> I want pluses. >> Uh, >> so plus one.
>> Minus one. Could have been worse. [laughter] >> Plus four blue. Oh, well played. That's 10 points. >> That feels better. >> Nice. >> Nice. >> Should this Well, actually, if it doesn't go stupidly minus, it's actually >> So, where we at? How you were down [clears throat] plus >> six? That's >> seriously back to zero.
Yeah, >> fell. [laughter] Amazing. >> I'd say I intended that, but I'm actually sure I did. >> So Paul scores nine, putting me on 34. Rob scores one, putting you on 34. >> Becky eight, >> putting you on 31. And Chris, >> zero, putting him on 22. >> Nice. Well, we go into the last round with Chris, a very, very strong favorite.
>> So, yeah, >> I think it's all over. >> I'm trying to work out the math. And if I don't win a trick, [laughter] >> if you don't win a trick, then >> you will probably win unless Becky had a terrible round. >> Yeah, >> you don't want to trick you on 37. So, if you win a trick, either Paul or I can get to zero or one.
>> Yeah. >> Yeah. It's almost that not running a trick sort of keeps you safe. It's always a safe play for you. >> If you can do it, if you can manage to >> sometimes, you know, you just have to win. >> Uh, who starts the new round? You always go clockwise. So, you always play a number of rounds equal to the number of players and the start player in each round is just the next player.
Was it me first? Did you first? >> Oh, [laughter] they're overrated. I don't know. one pink. I'm going to go. We're at net minus two. Minus two. We're on. And round four is officially called screw Chris [laughter] first. I have no way. >> We're at zero. >> Zero. Oh, I'm going to risk it. >> So, you're out of the house.
>> Nice. Plus two blue. [laughter] It's that really difficult kind of choice of do I do I try and get the thing or do I try and make someone else's life worse? >> I do that. >> Oh, it's we're at minus 4. >> Yep. >> Yeah. Let's let's drop it down a bit more. Minus 9. >> Oh no. Come on now. [laughter] >> Five.
That was a bit better. >> Gets me out. >> It does. >> It's just one decide when you sacrifice that thing just to get out, isn't it? >> Minus one greenus seven green. Three. Thank you, Rob. Brave. >> Cool. I love that. Plus two. >> Nice. >> Yep. >> Right. So things stay as they are. I will be on 36. Chris will be on 37.
Yeah. As if things are going to [laughter] as if. Um, >> it's a trick taking game. I've got at least four stupid boots in me now. So, I'm just going to sneak out a little orange plus one. >> So, that's zero. Zero. >> That's two. I'll >> get out of the house then. Plus five. Get out. 15, I guess. Okay, minus two pink.
Uh, let's make it into a plus two. Minus three. Let's make into a minus 9 >> - 9 the other way. What? Okay. >> Okay. All right. All right. I'm down by a plus three green. Just one green. I'm probably going to live to regret this, but I have do it. >> Plus seven plus seven overall. >> Mhm. >> Seven plus eight.
Umus one pinkus five wants it to be. >> Yeah, I know. It's the only thing I can do. Shouldn't say that, but No pink down to minus 6 - 6. You say >> - 6. Becky still is winning. Keep it a zero. >> You're welcome. [laughter] Okay, then. Um, star plus three blue. The options are getting very minimal now.
>> No, you can. I can't. [laughter] >> No, you can't. I can't. It's going to make it all in. Never been here before. >> It's [laughter] never going to It's not going to be bad for Becky. It's be bad for me. [laughter] >> Let's go. Make it minus one. >> Rob won with zero. No, no, different color. Yeah, I played plus six, but it was an off color suit, so I didn't win the trick.
>> It has to be the color of the trick starting, is it? >> That's where it can get you. >> Minus one with the blue. >> Yeah. Minus one, isn't it? Right. So, zero. >> Zero. Zero. >> Come on. Take it home with a minus five. Zero. >> All right. [laughter] Zero. >> So, zero. >> Zero. Yeah. All right then.
Okay. Oh, it's all getting a bit horrible now. Um, going really live to regret this. Minus four orange. >> Maybe not. >> Maybe not. >> - 7 orange. [snorts] Minus3 orange. Oh, >> I mean that's that's back to but >> 13 - 13 but >> he wants a minus >> 13. >> I'm currently winning though [laughter] 18. >> Okayus 18 horrible.
>> So he goes from five to minus 13 >> right now then four cards left. So let's >> of the 52 that we've had >> plus five blue. Make it plus two. Make it zero. Keep it at zero. Okay. wins that water. >> I mean, that's enough to win the game. So, you're >> the problem. The problem is the other cards I have in my hand.
>> Now, it's still trying to other people might actually have this going to make it worse for >> I'm definitely no good at doing that. That you'd have to pay attention and that's not >> not my strong suit. >> Someone's got a green minus three. >> What do you want? You want >> I want you. Yeah. >> It's currently on minus threeus >> and you're winning with a two.
>> Yeah. >> You want it to go up. Still minus three. Stillus make it. >> [snorts] >> That's great. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. One, two, three. >> It was not a lot of choice. >> Okay. >> I didn't want to. I did it very interesting. >> Reluctantly. Very reluctantly. >> So, it's really I I mean, I can't card count to save me life.
So, I have no idea what people have got in hand. >> That's what I guessed in hopes. I agree. [laughter] So, I'm going to say minus two orange [laughter] space. >> Two cards. >> Really bad. [clears throat] >> So, we're at plus three. That's all right, Pete, at the moment. Give it a second. Plus nine.
That's still all right. That's even better. >> Plus 9 plus six. >> Plus six. Look at that. Plus one. Perfect. >> Yeah. Unfortunately. Plus four. Plus nine. >> Plus five. >> Five. It's plus five. Five. Let's see on six. >> Right. I think you >> Yeah. So Paul scores four for a total score of 38. Robot scores six.
>> Six for a total score of 40. >> Becky >> 11. >> 11 for a total score of 42. And Chris >> 13. >> 13 for a total score of 35. >> Nice. >> So actually it was fairly close in the end. >> So Chris wins with 35. I got 38. Rob with 40. Becky with 42. Rob brought it back >> a lot. Well, that that round did you really well.
Well, that round that round. >> I got a couple of good >> end end rounds. >> So, as I mentioned at the start, this is not a sponsored playthrough. So, big thank you to all of my patre supporters for funding the channel. And if you like the content that I create and you want to support the channel, you can do so at patreon.com/gaming rules.
But because it's not a sponsored video, we can say what we think about the game. This is my second game of it, but traditionally we let the player who won give their opinion first and then we can just go, "Yeah, what he said." >> It's I think it's really clever. Like again, it's a diff another one of their different trick taking ones and a different spin.
And I know that's my first game, but just trying to think about tactics at different times about what's good to do or what's not good to do or because everyone can see where you are and what you need to do. Sometimes, oh, I'll play this because that'll get me really positive and then you're like, yeah, but everyone's just gonna >> Yeah.
Then just >> potentially rail it the other way that you don't want it to go. So, yeah. >> More likely to happen at the start of the game. >> You've got the options. When you haven't, then you might end up helping someone that you really don't want to. >> Yeah. I was really hating the fact that it was my turn to go first on the last round, which is the time I didn't want to go first.
>> Becky thoughts. >> Yeah, I really liked that. How are you with trick- taking games as a >> I don't play an awful lot of trick taking games to be honest. Um I like them. I just think it's not something that we tend to play much of, >> but I do like them and I like that one. I like the >> Yeah, that you've got to try and think of those tactics and you've got to try and think actually how is this going to play out?
Yeah. >> Do I want to save my kind of not crazy end of the road cards, you know, your plus sixes or your minus sixes? >> Plus sixes can be >> Yeah. really good for screwing people over, but also really good for Oh, it's loads of minuses. >> And I'll get it. I'll win it. Absolutely. >> Um, yeah, I like the fact that a lot of it is open information so that you can really decide actually it's not worth >> messing them around this time because it's not going to change it too much.
So, I quite liked that. >> Rob, it's a it's a nice enough game. Trick taking games aren't my not really my cup of tea. So, I'm always I'll play them when they're when they're in the offering, but I like Yeah. sort of the the shifting up and down, but it's still being the distance from the zero point is the score.
>> Yeah. >> So, trying to hammer yourself down to a negative isn't a good thing. It's still it's a different way of getting the same, >> but I think you get the elements of the luck of the draw and if you just happen to get a handful of >> Yeah, I mean ultimately it's a fun quickish trick taking game, you are going to get that look factor in it.
>> I think it's great. >> Yeah, I really like the artwork. Really >> the artwork's really nice. Yeah, the production quality is super accessibility with color blindness or or partially cighted people. You've got a lot of every all the information there. I really like that >> symbols as well. So, you've always got that fallback.
>> So, Friedman Preer, I've played a lot of his games over many many many years, designer of Power Grid. Um, but he's one of the most versatile designers. Uh, and I am a fan and I think he is a genius. I've sat at breakfast with him a couple of times and listened to him talk and uh he's a genius and he just has such crazy ideas of games.
Uh sometimes they work really well, sometimes not so much, but every one of them is uh extremely creative. Now last year his trick- taking game was fishing, which I really liked. I will never play fishing again. I'd much much prefer this. Okay, >> fishing is good, but fishing has the problem that in round two and round three, all of the special cards come out, but you can't explain them until they come out.
But then, yeah, it is a good game, but this is lighter. This is this is lighter. This is easier. This is more accessible. I think this is more fun as well. >> Yeah, >> but as I say, his his games are very very clever. So, >> yeah, this this is just just the right level for me for the right time of the night.
But I think there is strategy there. I don't quite know what it is. And I'm kind of hoping that there is strategy. [snorts] >> I just you need you need a few plays. >> I think the zero wilds are quite clever actually >> cuz they can win it. >> Yeah. Except a couple of times that I played them to win and then had a couple another round when I was just like, well, I don't want to play my card that if I win this, it's going to totally >> because you can always play the zero.
play the zero to >> just like kind of neutralize it. From my perspective, >> if you have the zero, you don't follow suit even if you could. >> And yeah, as I mentioned during the playthrough, that that bit where every hand has a different value for every player based on where they are. >> Mhm. >> So it isn't like any other trick taking game where you know you you're winning a trick and it's the number of tricks or it's the number of cards or whatever.
It's actually >> Yeah. the the game is shifting all the time as to what's good for you and what's good for other people. >> Yeah. >> Um, another one of my favorite trade taking games is Stickham, which is really brutal and very similar to this in the way that you can absolutely stitch people up. Um, and I quite like that in games, which you might find as a surprise because I don't normally do that in games, but if it's a quick fun trick taking game, then I'm then I'm all for that.
So, um, yeah, we're we're we're all done. And yeah, pretty different from Power Grid. very different from Power Good. Um, but that's it for tonight. Thank you very much to you three for joining me. >> Thank you. >> And thank you very much to everybody who's joined us today for all of the streams. We did Quartermaster General South Front earlier on.
We did 10B earlier on today and now we've done uh this. So yes, if you're interested in watching Quartermaster General, although I will warn you, it was a very rough playthrough because we were kind of learning from the rule book with the designer helping us while we were playing. Uh 10B, which we did earlier on today and and then this one to finish off.
I'll be back next week. I've got a few videos next week. Not many because I'm off to Gridcon. So, um, yeah, I don't have much next week, but there will be some. Thanks for watching. See you next time. Bye-bye. [music]
