hi everyone it's taryn and stella from mipple university thanks for joining us today we'll show you a quick how to play or overview of antara's kingdoms stay tuned [Music] if you find failure from this video later please hit the like button subscribe to us and hit the bell and leave your feedback in the comments now let's get to the game antares kingdoms is a set and pool building game in which players out position each other to have the most influence in antares pristine mountains it was designed and published by sand time games the game plays two to five players in 60 to 120 minutes with a solo mode and is of light to medium complexity in the medieval fantasy setting of the antares kingdoms players play as rival factions vying to hold the most influence over the pristine mountains the player who gains the most points from majorities in the kingdom's six different categories over three largely independent decades of play will win the game the game is at its core a set collection game with a pool building element each decade players have 10 rounds to build their sets and 2 actions per round to do it the most common actions are to draw two cards or to play one card into the building q slot which corresponds to its time cost all cued cards progress one step at the start of each round eventually entering your kingdom where they can count towards sets or be exhausted for their engine building actions sets that are present at the end of 10 rounds count as achievements which are one of the only two ways that you can win the game while harvestable sets also generate a coin each round when a harvest event is drawn coins are likewise a valuable and flexible commodity in the game they can be hoarded and spent in tens to gain dominion cards which are the other of the two ways to win or they can be spent on engine building such as drawing cards or expediting buildings as extra actions all of this forces decisions keep your kingdoms strong for the income or keep it rotating to increase your potential for end-of-decade sets as in any kingdom builder players must keep an eye to defense each round if the flipped event shows warfare then players first lose a card then must show defense equal to at least the current round number plus extras if applicable any shortfall is lost in cards or money potentially denting the player's strategy but the events aren't totally random or out of your control two actions or five coins let you glance at the next three events ahead and a choice of stance each round gives the players extra defense if they think they need the protection or extra income if they think they can weather the storm this all comes down to a player's risk tolerance players can also rank up during the game for additional hand limit and other bonuses from the lowly peasant players first rank up to esquire and then take a choice become a trade master or climb the ranks of nobility trade masters gain extra bonuses from action and event cards while nobles can build gem mines for faster income and sets but will come under greater military pressure so your choice of rank path will influence your strategy after 10 rounds are done players count up their achievement sets on the achievement tracks then reset for the next round after three decades it's time for the end challenge and still a chance for anyone to win players are fighting for the majorities in each of the six categories and the contribution of the achievements is final and public while each dominion card gives a choice between two of the categories players simultaneously reveal their dominion choices add them to their achievements and do the count each category's winners gain three true mark points and the runners-up gain two most true mark points wins with the highest ranking noble breaking the tie antara's kingdom is a quick playing game with minimal downtime as most phases are played simultaneously while set collection from a common deck is the simple core mechanism and the range of cards is narrow the different uses and paces for the cards adds depth to the game and a euro style engine build which players will enjoy antares kingdom can also be played solo with the player competing against an ai whose achievements and endgame challenge are drawn at random from the dominion deck and that's our quick how to play of antares kingdoms hopefully it's been useful we are using a prototype copy of the game so the rules and components may not be final and do check out the project page of the game we'll put a link to that in the description below and if you enjoyed this video please help us by hitting the like button subscribe to us you can also hit the meeple in the corner to do so and hit the bell icon so you'll know when we have new videos you can also follow me on instagram for my board games journey comments and questions are all welcome so do write to us in the comments section below thanks for watching see you next time
