Alphabet Stoop Kickstarter Preview! | Deliver your packages & spell words!

1:00 hey friends it is Jenna what is up and welcome back to the board game garden and welcome to a Kickstarter preview of this little package right here the box is literally meant to look like a little package which I love it has the tape on the side it has ship this side up it has some stamps on it um but this right here is alphabet stoop it is published by pops and Bijou games who's helping sponsor today's video so huge huge thank you to them and it's designed by Charlie McCarron and in alphabet stoop you are competing against the other players in order to become the best delivery company around it plays two to five players it plays in around 20 minutes so nice quick and snappy and it plays ages seven and up this is a game that will be coming to Kickstarter like I mentioned so I will have the link to the kickstarter down below the campaign starts on August 1st so when this video goes live it will be live so definitely go and check it out I will have a link um but without further Ado I'm going to show you guys all of the components I'll have some nice b-roll over top show you how the game plays a little overview and that'll be the video so if you guys want to see how alphabet stoop plays if it's something that you feel like you would enjoy and want in your collection then just keep on watching give this video a big thumbs up also hit that subscribe button down below if you've yet to do so we'd love to have you here in the garden and without further Ado let's get into this preview shall We alright so to start off like I mentioned I'm just going to go a little bit over all of the components

2:31 and kind of what everyone starts with at the beginning of the game and then we'll get into how the game plays like I said this is a game that plays in around 20 minutes so it's a nice quick fun word game that you can play with a bunch of different skill levels a bunch of different ages um so we're going to get into the components so right on the side here I don't know if you can see them but they are all of the different player colors so you get five different player colors we have a purple over here this setup here is for a four player game so we have four different player colors over here and then we have the additional one over here so we have the purple player color over here there's also yellow blue red and green and each player will start with their kind of like workers or like moving they are workers because one of them is your like parcel truck and then you have two workers so there's this guy with a little trolley um and then there's the guy that is looking very exhausted with three packages he's holding them himself yeah he's he's being overworked let me just say but each player is going to have three workers per se and you are going to be moving these workers and dropping off packages so like I mentioned in this game you are trying to become the best delivery company and you are delivering different packages to these houses and their Stoops I think stoop is not typically a word that I use but it's like the front you know porch of a house you're delivering their

4:02 packages to their stoop um and you're trying to create words with your packages because each of your patches is going to have different letters on it so this package here has a little r on it um and each of your workers is going to have a different amount of letters that you can drop off um on your turn so yes we have all the workers over here each player like I said is going to have three of those you're going to be laying out some of the houses along here um I believe this these two would be added for a five player game but we are playing a four player game here we're setting up for four player games so we have two additional house cards there that we're just having off to the side and in the rule book they do have a little setup of how the houses will go each player also is going to have five different stamp tokens you're going to be placing one of these stamps on if that card has a stamp icon in the top left hand corner so this one does here this one does here as well as this one does here so those are all of the house cards placed out on the table like I said you'll be taking your workers and moving across the town to deliver these packages and each of the houses will start with either a newspaper or a magazine so the newspapers are going to have um some vowels on them so this one has o here this one has an a this one has an e this one has an i so they're just going

5:34 to be randomly placed at the beginning of the game just to give you a starting letter to base your words off of um so that is what we have on the starting houses and then you also could possibly have houses that have magazines so these are considered wild and you can use them as any letter that you want um so there's a few houses here that have magazines on them and then lastly we have the envelope tokens so these um some players are going to start with some at the beginning of the game um you're also going to be able to gain envelope tokens throughout the game there are some cards here that have envelopes on them if you are able to spell this one is uh if you are able to spell a six letter word you'll get an envelope there seven letter word here you've got two envelopes and envelopes can be used as wild letters as well so that'll help you throughout the game work up to some bigger words and I believe that is everything for all of the components it's a pretty pretty small compact game so those are all the components and without further Ado let's get into how the game plays so like I mentioned in alphabet stoop you want to be the player that has the best delivery company and in order to do that and in order to win the game you want to be the first player to either drop off all of your packages so each player is going to start with 12 packages 12 letters on your three different workers that you want to drop off at different Stoops you can have multiple letters at a stoop I

7:05 will get into that in a second with the different actions that you can take but if you are the first player to deliver all of your packages you will win but there is also a second way for you to win and that is for you to gain nine victory points so the two different ways you can get victory points is occupying Stoops so that it's just having at least one of your packages on a stoop card or one of the house cards so each of those would be one Victory point and then also whenever you have the cards that have these stamps in the top right hand corner left for me right now but top right hand corner whenever you drop off a package on one of these cards you would take your little stamp token in your player color and you would place your stamp on that card if anyone else was to go after and place one of their words or one of their letters packages on that house card they would then replace yours with their colors so it's kind of a little bit of not area control but a little bit of like hey I'm gonna go there now and take over that one and it's a little bit of a fight to control these Stoops so that is how the stamps work and that is the different ways that you can gain victory points so one if you are the first player to deliver all your packages you win two if you're the player that gets nine victory points first you also win so that is how you win the game but how do you play the game you might ask basically on a player's turn they're going to have three different actions to perform you have a few different action that you can choose from the first action is going to

8:35 be moving one of your carriers to an adjacent house so you will be moving this way but you can also move back and forth throughout the town in order to drop off different packages so you're going to be moving one of your three carriers to an adjacent house that is going to be one action you could do that action again and move again to a specific house that you're trying to get to but each move is going to be one action and obviously when you're starting off the game your first move must be to move one of your carriers to this leftmost row here the second action I'm sure you already have assumed what that is but that is going to be it dropping off a package so you're going to be taking one of the letters or one of the packages from that carrier that you've moved and you're going to be placing it on to that house and you must always spell a word when you drop off a package so you can't just drop off something and move to another um a card you have to spell a word when you do drop off a package if there are are letters from other people and another word already spelled on a card that you moved to you must add a package and then you must spell a different word or a continuation of a word so you could for example there might be you know kid kid might be the word on this stoop you must move into there and then add a letter and then move those four letters now into a different word you might add an S to make it kids you might add an N to make it kind you always have to when you deliver a package spell a word so on

10:07 your first turn you will most likely be moving to one of these leftmost houses for your first action and then with your other two actions because you always get three actions with your other two actions you are going to deliver two packages to spell a word players would continue doing their turns having three actions moving their carriers around dropping off packages until one player has either used all of their letters or dropped off all of their packages or they have accumulated nine victory points by controlling Stoops as well as placing their different stamp tokens like I mentioned players will also some players will also start with envelope tokens those can be used at any time in order to add some wild letters into words to make them longer you can also accumulate more envelope tokens like I mentioned by some of the cards having things up in the top left hand corner this one for example is six letter word if you are able to spell a six letter word here you would gain an envelope token so that would help you in further game this one here is one five letter word five letter word six letter word then there's also one here that is a seven letter word so then whoever ended that word there could be a bunch of different players colors in there whoever ended that word or finished that word would gain the two envelopes so I think that might be everything for the overview and preview of alphabet Studio hopefully you guys enjoyed if you did give this video a big thumbs up also hit that subscribe button down below if you
