Waste of Parts l All in Pledge l Unboxing
Transcript
Greetings, I'm Baron and welcome to Meet Me at the Table. Today, we're going to be doing an unboxing of The Waste of Parts. This is by Sky Kingdom Games, the same company that did Dungeons of Infinty and the Isoferian Guard. They both fall under the Sky Kingdom Games label. At the time of this recording, Waste of Parts is still available on Sky Kingdom's web store. So, if you like what you see, please go check it out and pick yourself up a copy. The shipping for this game is included in that price. I looked into this game while it was on Gamefound and after talking to Steve, member of the Co-op Guild, he told me, "Baron, I think you'd be really excited for this game. You should give it a shot." So, I reached out to Sky Kingdom Games and we talked and I was able to get a copy of the game. So, this is given to me by the publisher. So, I just want that to be full disclosure. I'm going to be doing an unboxing of The Waste of Parts and this is the all-in Wastelander edition that does come with the Remnants of the Fallen expansion, a couple play mat or play mat for the enemies, and of course the play mat for our big mech that we're going to try to take and get across the the wasteland in order to get to sanctuary. If you're excited to see what is in The Waste of Parts and what it's all about, then I need you to meet me at the table. The first thing we have is our magnificent play mat here. This thing looks gorgeous. You're going to see that we have our giant mech which is trying to get over to sanctuary from where we were. It is no longer a place that we can live safely and securely.
So, we're trying to get to a new place. We're going to travel through the wasteland. Of course, in this state of the game, the what's called the blight has come upon mankind and has been ravaging all the different areas of the world. Now, we're not the only one trying to travel. There are others traveling across this to try to get to different places where it could be safe and you're going to be able to salvage or scavenge some of the parts that those particular mechs, like these giant things, have left behind. That's kind of how this game works is we're going to try to get somewhere without having our enemies destroy our mech. We don't want to die. We want to make it there. This game is a one to five player cooperative game that lasts from what I talked to Steve of Co-op Guild, he said anywhere from about an hour and a half to two hours usually is about a game session of this game. But, that can change based on how your particular mission goes. If it's going south and you're barely able to scrape by, but you continue to keep on going, it could take a little bit longer unless you do a fantastically fantastic job and you're able to move this thing really fast and you can get there a little bit quicker. Like I said, what you're seeing here is the giant mech and you also have the wastes down here. And you're going to find this exact same thing in the actual game as a board. But, of course, this is a neoprene mat that was part of the all-in pledge. Along the sides, we're going to have a couple of our decks of cards.
We're going to have our salvage deck here. This is where we're also going to be placing, I think, cards we don't use like the scrap and things that we don't use for our game. We have our enemies down over here and then our events are going to be over in that area there that we're going to be drawing from and having to resolve. And of course, enemies are also going to be placed down here as well. We do have two guns on our ship which are right here which we could probably fire into this area and hopefully clear out some enemies before they jump into our ship and start causing havoc and breaking the ship, causing it to start on fire and eventually destroying it which would be, well, absolutely terrible. Now, there also is another neoprene mat. This is the enemy mat where I believe you can place down enemies so you're not overloading the actual rooms themselves cuz they are numbered based on the rooms here, 1 2 3 4 and uh so on and so forth. I believe that's what this is for. The other thing is as you're moving around in this particular thing, you can only go up and down where there's ladders. So, you can't just run nilly-willy all over this place or really nilly, whichever you want to go.
And you can either go sideways this way, but you can't go up and down without an actual el- or ladder, sorry, ladder there. Wish I had elevators, that'd be kind of nice. Now, of course, those are the two neoprene mats. Now, let's dig into the real meat of the game and that's of course our big box of Waste of Parts. Let's dig into this and see what we have in store. We have a rulebook right up in front which is going to walk you step-by-step through how to play. I'll have to take a look at this. I believe they do have the rules online if you're interested in looking them up yourself. The rulebook is 18 pages long. It does look like it has some good diagrams in here. I'll have to read this up so I can get the game to the table. I'm pretty excited to try this one out. This looks pretty awesome. Here again, like I said, the boards themselves are also going to be in here as actual boards. So, I'll place those aside the same as the neoprene mats you just saw. This, I believe, is just for safety. We have our heroes down here. The crew members all have their own special abilities and usefulness in the thing in the our ship here. Here is the player boards. They do come with these neat player boards that you can really put your crew member into. We have, I believe, it's six or seven different ones. Let's see how many we have. Nope, we have quite a few.
Nope, we have a way more than six or seven. Baron is uh totally wrong. 1 2 3 4 5 different crew members here and then we've got 6 7 8 9 10. 10 different crew members. That is awesome. And like I said, each one is completely different and they all have these like unique little cool steam-punky little dials and stuff like that. So, we have the health, we have a your attack and your actions that you're going to get each turn. And like I said, each one is going to have its own ability here. For example, the brute is going to have bloodlust. Whenever you destroy an enemy with an unarmed attack, I get to heal a health point I once per round. When you are injured by an attack, you may immediately make an unarmed attack which is pretty awesome. So, we do have all of our boards and like I said, it is up to five players. So, there are five, 1 2 3 4 5 player boards that you can play.
But, of course, you can mix and match all these different crew members. Now, of course, like I said, each person does come with special abilities. You only get to use one per game. So, you could use maintenance the first time you play this character, you could try reforge the second time you use this character. It's your option which one you want to do. And of course, there will be dials. I bet they're in here somewhere which I hook up to these things to make them so you can keep track of where you are on these. But, that is the different crew members. Like I said, they are going to go right on top of these things so that you have access to everything you need when you play. Another thing you can take put on these is we do have equipment slots down here. So, when you gain equipment cards, you can just place them right down here. So, you have, like I said again, everything right where you need it to be for your characters. This right here, this is the actual mech and everything. The different dials that you see on here, the first one is going to be your noise. Based on how much noise you have, you're going to be drawing specific or you're going to be drawing enemy cards based on your noise value.
You also have the distance traveled. Remember, our goal is to get to sanctuary. So, the faster we can get there, the better. Now, of course, the more closer we get, the more closer, that was almost an English sentence. The closer we get, the more powerful the enemies that are going to start coming out like a 10, 20, and 35. We do have our health value over here. If that ever reaches zero, we die. Down here is going to show whether our engine room is fueled or if it's not. If it's not fueled, the cubes go here. If they are fueled, they are here. Of course, a non-fueled engine means you're going absolutely nowhere which is bad. You want to be moving at all times. Come on, we need to get to sanctuary. There are a bunch of dice that are along the sides here that go from one to six. I believe all of these are the same. I could be wrong. Let's just check. 1 to 6. I believe they're all the same. Except, of course, the gambler's dice might be a little bit different here. 1 2 3 4 5 6 and this one is and two is a little bit different.
So, these are all I These these dice now actually all pretty much the same. There must be something I'm missing. But anyway, we have those These are the normal side of dice we or normal dice that we're most likely going to be rolling most of the time. This is what's called a gambler's dice. And [snorts] then here, this is all of the standees for the game. They all come with a standee except for there is one miniature. So, we might have to paint this up to make it look super super cool. All this miniature shows is this is our first player token which is pretty cool. I really like it when they give neat-looking first player tokens. I like that a lot. We'll pass them around. Everybody can admire it. So, right. So, this is our first player token and there are no more miniatures. When I understand, these are, like I said, all the acrylic tokens for the game which is going to be for our heroes. These are all the acrylic tokens for our heroes. They look like this. They're pretty awesome. Now, for those of you who have never seen or would known much about these, they do actually put a protective film on these that you have to rip off.
It can be a a little much kind of a pain in the butt to get this stuff off, but once you can kind of start moving it, then it comes off pretty easy. It protects kind of the the art on this, I think, during production and everything. But then it comes off and looks a lot better. And you have to do it from both sides. They are actually on both sides of this. You don't want to scratch into the paint or the the actual art on this. But, if you can get them both off both sides, then your acrylic standee is the right way. So, I have had comments from other games in the past that use these like, "Oh, mine doesn't look as clear as yours." That's because then you need to take the film off of it. That Like I said, it's kind of a pain in the butt, but especially when you've got all these You might just want to take them off as you play
or you're going to be doing this for a good hour. Take it off all the things. But then you get these. Of course, you don't have to take it off if you do not want to. You do not have to take those off. All right. So, that is the acrylic tokens. We're going to continue on. Inside here, we do have all the standees that are also acrylic. And again, you're going to want to take the film off of those to make them more of a clear base which is kind of cool. We have Oh, here they are. Here is the stuff I'm looking for. These are the cogs and the different things for being able to control our dials on our things. Once you get all set up, here's kind of what it looks like. It does have some indentations there. These aren't They don't just stick to this thing. So, they do spin. So, you don't want to like be shaking You can kind of shake it around. It's not going to do too much, but if it fall off, you have to remember where they were. So, they don't They're not like push to fit. That way you can always remove these and be able to put in your own characters and that way they can reuse this player board for something else.
It's pretty awesome. I do like the fact that they're metal. So, they do have some weight to them. So, they're not If you hit it, it's not just going to move around too much. You actually have a pretty good And these numbers are pretty big gap there. So, you can most of the time remember what you had. But, all right. Those are the ones for our player boards. We also have these metal cubes which are going to be one used to show which ones of these you have decided to use for the turn. Also, we have these neat ones that are just This is going to be interesting. Okay. This is going to be interesting. We'll see how Well, this to be determined whether or not this is a good idea.
But, I think it'll [snorts] be pretty awesome. All right. So, we also have these which I'm finding try to see if I can get them off of here that are going to slide onto this thing that are going to then be able to control the numbers on this. So once you get them all on there, I think this actually works out okay because like again, they have a lot of weight to them. So even though you shake this around, you're probably not going to be shaking around as we're sitting off to the side. One person will be controlling this and actually they move pretty well. Obviously really well. And they don't seem to don't pick it up move it around too much. You're going to have things going. But I think this is okay system. I'll go with it. We'll check it out. We'll We'll see how it goes during the play through. There you go. All right, so we have our player boards and the cool things that go in. I think the thing that is really keeping this working well is the fact that there's thick metal ones. They're metal. So they're not plastic. They're metal. So it's I think that's a way better choice than trying to use plastic there.
Continuing on, we do have some red cubes that we're going to be using and then we have a ton of cards over here that we're going to have to look through and see what we have. Now I don't want to show I'm going to show a few things here but I don't show every single card. We don't need to see every single card. If you're looking for another great unboxing or even a great play through of the game, check out Steve over at the Co-Op Guild. Also Adam Smith over at Rolling Solo did a good I think three part series on this game just recently. So go check that out as well. I'll try to put a link to those in the description of this video. The first set of cards we have are all of our salvage cards. There's a ton of them. Actually a monstrous amount here. It's almost astronomical how many there are. The Each one of these cards does do some different things. We have the name. We have what it does. There are ones that for example are going to be used to attack with. Um let's see if I can find one of these.
They're so far Okay, these are going to be used in particular areas of the ship. It's going to tell you kind of where in the ship it would be used. This is going to be used in number five. Uh then this one is going to be used in number three. They're going to be all do different things for our ship uh or the mech that we have here. Trying to find any of our weapons. We can maybe find a weapon in here. It might help me. Here's some armor. Everybody can you only wear one piece of armor that they that they have. We have med kits. This one right here for example. Okay, this one. More efficient engine. It's going to go in the engine room. It's going to give plus one noise which could also affect how what type of enemies come out. So you're moving faster but you're going to be causing more noise as you're going. Uh this one is a omnethos. Okay, fantastic. Weapons must be in the front here. Let's see if I Oh, here we go. Sniper rifle. Okay, this is how many dice you're going to be rolling. This shows it has a reload action. So that means if you use it, you have to put it face down till you spend an action to reload it. So all these different salvages are pretty awesome. Symbiotic augment. Cannot be unequipped. That's pretty sweet. So these are These are all pretty awesome.
I got Oh man, there's going to be so many cool things you can do in this game. You never know what you're going to draw because it's salvage. You're going to just drop the crane and see what you get. Now of course some of these cards are going to be just scrap. You're going to find that you'll either find there's some in here that might say just scrap. Otherwise you could always just if you decide not to use one of these anymore like say I didn't want the grenade. I don't know why I wouldn't want the grenade everybody loves grenades. You'd put it you can put it in the scrap pile and then you can use those scraps for specific actions during the game. You could reinforce your hull. You could also recycle three of them to rummage through equipment cards or for actually do things in rooms or you could then even use them to help fuel your ship going forward. Some of the other cards we have here we do have these token cards that you're going to be able to use. I believe these are just going to be places where you can keep track of other things in the game. We have our different event cards here. Just some of the events we have. For example, one of the events here says What's it say?
Polarity field. I can exchange this and this for of all enemies. Uh if an enemy is this status now zero treated as one instead. So it's going to potentially can make an enemy more powerful or or weaker depending on what their original stats are switching around. That's just one of the different event cards. Now we have all of our enemy cards. Just must be enemies are salvaging this. And it starts at level one and it's going to go all the way through. There's level two. There's also level three enemies down here. So there's a whole ton of these enemies. Here's just one of the enemies just to show you kind of what it has. This is one of the level one enemies. It shows the name kind of picture of them. It's ability down here. This is a health value. So how much you have to do to to kill it. Then down here it shows its attack damage or ability. So that's how many dice it's going to roll against you. And this shows you where in the ship it's going to be laid when it comes out to attack you. So this one's going to go in 13 which is part here down here in the waste. And it's going to come into your ship and probably start damaging it if it can. That's going to be its goal. Now of course this game does also come with different bosses. It looks like it has four of them. These bosses are going to have their own set of stuff that they're going to be able to doing against you based on what they have. We'll have to look into more of the bosses. I haven't really looked into those very much. One of the last things I want to show you is this deck. This deck is awesome. This is a set of clear kind of cards and as the enemies damage your ship, you're going to placing these down in the specific area. So this one says inoperable. So you're going to be if you that happened here, that would now be inoperable. We would have this and be inoperable. Now of course if it continues to take damage, it's going to be on fire. This one says on fire. So you're going to put that in place. It'll
be on fire now. Oh well, you don't want to be on fire.
Last time I checked fire is the worst thing you can have on your ship. So it does need to have these cards that actually go onto your ship to show how damaged it is as you're moving towards sanctuary. Hopefully you can make it there before your thing all catches on fire. We also have a set of AI cards. I believe these are also part of the game. They're going to be used when fighting the bosses. They're going to give you instructions on how those bosses are going to be performed. Depending on which one you're fighting, you'll use one of the decks. There also is a first player card but of course this pledge does come with a first player token that you can use instead. We have the expansion which is Remnants of the Fallen. It does come with a neat little card that talks about a little bit about what it is like if you are running the waste of parts, use these cards are yours to install. If not, leave them in the crate. You are not ready. Upload them uploading schematics now. So you flip it over it has time step corruption wasn't part of our manifest found in the wedge between systems ran system checks.
So these are going to be extra cards you can throw in. These are just extra salvage I believe for the game if you want to wish to throw these kind of things in. Looks like it has some different Wow, looks like very lasery. Oh, these look awesome. They're definitely going in. Why would you not put these in? These look awesome. And the last thing I have is a crossover pack for Vestige by Orange Nebula. If you own that game, you can use this to increase some of the stuff in that game. If you don't have that game, go pick it up and then you can use this in it too. Orange Nebula Vestige by Orange Nebula. Go check it out. So there you have it. That is Waste of The Waste of Parts by Skybound Games. Thank you again for giving me this pledge to be able to show off to the community. I am hoping to get a play through of this done first or pretty quickly I should say. I'm excited to try this out. I have so many so many enemies. So many enemies and so many salvaging parts. I'm I can't wait. So many things. All right, we're going to dig into this as fast as we can. I'm super excited for this game. If you enjoyed the unboxing, don't forget to like, subscribe and hit that bell so we'll see you know when that play through comes out. Also please feel free to leave anything in the comments section below. Have you had a chance to try this game? Is this something that you enjoy? Are you thinking about it and not sure yet and waiting to see how the play through is looks so you can decide if you want to pick that up. I'm also excited to hear what you have to say in the comments section below. Also if you're want to support the channel, the link to our Patreon is located in the description of this video as well. Those that have joined the Patreon are shown here on the screen. Thank you so much for your patronage. It means the world to me. Those that are part of the
Patreon do get some specific perks. One of them is they get to watch Colin and my play through usually about a day or two ahead of time without commercial interruptions. On top of that, we allow them to help pick out the type of characters we play in the game. So for example in this play through, I will probably ask my Patreon supporters which of these different characters they would like to see crew our ship and we'll place them in there and see if they can get to sanctuary. It'll Hopefully they pick a good group. So there you have it. That was The Waste of Parts. Thank you again for watching and if you're excited to see the play through for The Waste of Parts or anything else that Colin and I have coming up, then I need you to meet me at the table. You're a master plan
to fill me up with all your energy. You're a master plan
to set me up against your enemies.
