Spots Board Game 2 Player Gameplay | DaniCha
Hey everyone, Danielle here. We're going to play Spots with my husband, Alex. And uh if you don't know what this game is about, um you're about to find out. This is a competitive game, not a co-op game, so a little bit different for us. We start with one treat, which we can use to reoll uh a dice or dice.
We also start with one dye, which we'll both roll to start. So, we each roll it, and then you'll put it in your dog house. So, right now I have a four and I have a three. And uh let's just double check the rest of the setup. So, as far as the setup, we will need to draw ourselves starting dog cards and we will have two of them.
So, we each draw two of these cards into our area. And let's try to make sure it's visible in the camera. All right. So these are the two I start with. I have Wilbur and Eloise. I have little Beth and Louise. Oh, another Oh, simil similar name. Okay. And now we can pretty much uh start. Whoever had the highest berry die goes first.
So I have the highest die with a four and I will start. So, a quick reference just so you can see what might go on in this game. Uh, we get to do uh a trick and the tricks are out here and these are the six kind of like starting tricks that they recommend in the rule book. We have walk, beg, howl, fetch, run, and roll over.
So, when we do a trick, I'll select one of the face up trick tiles. They're all fa face up right now. I will flip it over and then perform all the steps audit in order. And just so you know that if a step says any word like may, you don't have to do it. It's a it's an optional step. Um and some steps say you may repeat it until you decide to stop.
All right. So I think we'll dive in and I'm going to say I am taking walk. So walk says roll two dice. Okay. So, I'll go ahead and roll two dice. And you'll just always grab dice from the central supply. Now, roll. I got a six and a two. Um, which is not terrible. At least I could place this a six. The two I won't be able to place.
So, I look at the dice that's on my dogs and simply just place the dye right on top of a space that matches the value. Anything else will go to my dog house. If I have the number of spots on the dark doghouse, which is the total of number of pips, I will have to make sure that it is seven or less. If it's greater than seven, I bust, which means all the dice in my player area, including the ones I already placed on my dogs, they go back to the supply and I have to start all over.
So, this is definitely a push your luck game. Um, but keep in mind that you could also spend uh a dog treat, which we both have one to roll the dice before placing them. All right. Um, and just so you know, when you reroll dice, you have to reroll all of the dice that you rolled during your action. And then once we have a uh uh five out of the six face down or flipped over onto the gray side, um the following player would end up flipping everything face up and then placing a dog treat on the one that was left face up.
So we'll we'll do that in a little bit. All right. So now it's Alex's turn. I'll do howl. I flip it. If you have fewer than six dog cards, draw the top card of the deck. Okay. And add it to your pack. All right. Nice. I have Doo. And then it says roll one die. Why? Oh, I thought it said Doug. It is Doo.
Nice. All right. So, you rolled a one. goes into his dog house because none of his dogs have that. Um, let's see. So, I'm pretty close to busting. I already have a total of six in here. So, I'm actually going to choose to do roll over. Roll all your buried uh dice and then place or reberry them. And then I can roll one die.
So, let's do the first part. So, I'll roll all my um buried dice. A one or a two. That's not bad. I'll keep the one. Place it right here on Wilbur. Uh, and then I will do uh the second part. You may roll one dice. So, I'll grab one from the supply. Roll it. I got a three. Perfect. So, on my next turn, I'll be able to choose to spend the turn to score this dog.
But for now, this is all I can do. I will just run. This is roll three dice. Roll three dice. And then you may roll one dice. You may repeat the second step as many times as you want. Yes, that's a fun one. That That one usually doesn't work out for me cuz I just keep going. Ah, here's the gamble. Two, three, four.
So before you place it, you got to think about it. You're going to be left with a four. Will you bust? Oh, shoot. You might need to spend that treat to reroll. Okay, the treat. Okay. Oh, wow. Six. Six. That's not good. That's good. Oh, you have two sixes. Oh, perfect. Oh, there. That worked out for you.
Okay. Nice turn. What I do with my dog house stuff? Oh, you leave it until you bust. Stays in there. Okay. All right. Um, so apologies for the extra noise if you hear that because our cats always decide to go crazy while we record. Um, but yes, let's uh figure out what we're going to do. I'm going to do a because I want to try to score both of these at the same time.
And that can only happen if all the cards in your pack have dice on it. Um I don't want to waste the turn by scoring Wilbur when I have such a low number in the the um dog house. So I'm going to do roll eight dice. Choose a number you rolled and place or bury uh all dice of that number. Discard the rest.
Okay. So, I'm going to choose what number should I do? I have to roll eight dice no matter what. But I think I'm going to choose the number one. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. Okay. All right. Perfect. So, the number one is what I chose. So, I grab all the number ones out. All of these will be discarded. And now I can place this and then put this into the dog house.
Now passed. So at this point when there's only one face up trick left, we put a treat on the last face up tile. So that means anyone who chooses to do this will take that treat into their supply. And we flip everything else over. And they're now available for Alex to choose from. I will do Powell again.
Okay, I have less than six dog cards, so I'll draw from the dog deck and add it to my pack. And then I roll one dice, four. The one number you didn't need. Oh my god. Okay, that's unfortunate. So, you bust and lose all your dice. There's no way around that one. Okay, that's too bad. Like everything.
I just Yeah, everything goes. Yep. All your dice goes. Um All right. So, I'm going to do a walk. Roll two dice and you may roll one dice. So, roll two dice and hopefully I get the four that Alex rolled and I did not. Um, I'm gonna do a reroll using the dog tree I have. And I got two fives. Oh no. That means I bust, too.
See, this is usually how it goes for me, guys. It's It's not It's not good. All right, Alex. When When does someone win? Oh, I should talk about how you win the game. You win the game when you have scored six dogs. You can only ever have total six dog cards in front of you, by the way. Okay, I'll take the treat bag.
Okay, take one treat and then take one more treat for each of each paw on your dog cards. Okay, so one and then I have one, two, three. Nice. Pretty good. Pretty safe then. All right, so I think I'm going to do run since I'm wiped out. Uh, so it says roll three dice. Okay, I'll do take that six. Take that three.
Put the five there. And then it says you may roll one dice. You may repeat this second step as many times as you want. I'll roll it one more. A three. And I've busted. There we go. Alex's turn. Choose fetch. Roll eight dice. Try to roll it on camera so everybody can see the excitement. Roll eight dice.
Choose the number you rolled and place or bury all of that dice. That number. Which number did you choose though? So to roll eight dice and then you could choose a number. Oh, I always chose a number beforehand. Oh, interesting. Okay, so you have this two, too. So what do you have there? So many ones, but so many ones.
But um I don't need a one. You do. Well, yeah, just one. Yeah. Not the best use of that one, right? Nope. I guess uh there's two. Okay. But all all the other twos, there anything else? There's no other twos. Okay. All right. So, my turn. I'll place this here and we'll re reflip over these. All right.
I think I need to do this. If I have fewer than six dogs, I get to draw the top card. All right. So, I have rogue and uh I get to roll one dieice. I can't bust on one die, right? I have five. Nice. Your turn. I'll do run. Roll three dice and then I may roll one dice and repeat. One, two, five. That's pretty good.
You got everything you kind of needed for that. One, two. Yeah. Yeah. Nice. Five. Okay. And then I may roll one dice. Then I can repeat. Yeah. Wait, what? Oh, yeah. As many times as you want. Three. That's pretty good. You definitely finish this one. Oh yes. I'm helping out my opponent here. I repeat.
Yeah, you can't bust right now, so you got to keep going. Nice. I'll repeat. It'd be crazy if you got all the rest of these and then you can score all four on your turn. So, six. Oh my gosh. I'll repeat. Oh, but you could keep going. That's true. I'll repeat. Oh my god. I I'll repeat. Nice. Wait. Oh, you can reroll if you want.
Yeah, I will reroll a two. Not bad for this the the house though. Up to you. Never take my advice in this game. Oh my god. the such bad luck. All right, one more time. Reroll. Oh my god, everybody. Are you seeing this? I'll reroll. The gamblers's dilemma. Six. Finally. Okay, here we go. Okay, you can keep going.
No. If you got a six, you wouldn't bust. If five, you also wouldn't bust. I don't want to risk four. Again, the four would not make you bust, though. At minimum, you'd be able to score on your next turn three cards. It's worth taking. No, that's half the Okay. All right. All right. Okay. So, I'm actually going to do this uh bagg take one treat.
Okay. And then take one more for each one. Two. And then that's it for me. Um, I'll score. Yep. So, you got three. So, you'll flip them over for the ones you did. Nice job. All right. So, my turn. I'm going to go ahead and take this treat and do a roll over. I don't have any dice in my in my uh dog house, so I'll just roll one dice.
Oh, I got a two. Okay. Um, I'll walk roll two die. Roll two dice and then I may roll one. 62. Oh my god, that's perfect. That was close. Wait. Oh man, this is a three. Okay, that's fine. Okay, my turn. Yep. All right, I'm going to do that. If I have fewer than six, I get to draw one. All right, so now we have Oh, a triplet.
Leaf, Mudge, and Bucky. And then I get to roll one die. A five. I must have a five somewhere, right? Well, I'm definitely rolling that five. A three. Yeah, I must have a three somewhere. Yep. Here we go. I'll stock up on treats. Take one. And then I have two paws. So, two more. Nice. Okay. I'm going to do the one where you can roll over again.
So, I'm running rolling three dice. One, two, three. One, three. Actually, I'll put the one here. That was a one. And put the two here. here. And then I can keep rolling. Got a two, five. Going to reroll the five. A one. A one. Keep going. Oh my gosh. Wow. Keep going. You're crazy. Oh, one. And I'll put that in the dog house.
No, I'm going to keep I have I have two dog treats. I have a uh That's a two. I'll keep rolling. Six. I just need a four. I just need a four, guys. Don't do it. You're going to do it. A five. I got to reroll that or else I'll bust. Don't do it. I got it. Oh my god. Wow. Guys, I get to score all these immediately.
See? Immediately. Sometimes it's worth taking. Really? That's what I was trying to explain to you before, but you weren't listening. Well, if you do all the dogs in your pack. Yeah. Wow. Okay. And then now, uh, I draw a new dog for each dog scored. Um, really? Two up to two because I I already have these.
That's a bonus. Yeah. It says, "Core dogs. Discard all dice on completed dogs and turn those dogs face down. Draw one new dog for each dog scored, but stop once. You have six total scored. Yeah. Did you draw one? No. Oh, go ahead. You should draw up to three. So, it would be two more. Two. Yeah. That changes everything.
Well, you should have read up the rules then. Okay, go ahead. Your turn. That was epic. Uh, okay. Well, in that case, I will walk two. Roll two, then roll one. Okay, let's try to roll on camera. Nice. You got those. You got those. I have so many ones. You have a lot of sixes. Don't worry about the extra ones.
You're not even close to the seven. I am. You'll have five. You're going to have five. Not a big deal. You have all those rerolls, too. I don't know. These are all the thoughts in my head when if it was me. And then I'll roll one more. Your collection of ones, bro. You could always just use a dog bone.
You have four. I think the world is telling me I'm unlucky lately with your ones. Just keep that one then if you have. But you do have a lot of dog wounds when you're going to use them. This is This is so annoying. It's annoying me. This game is so exciting. Can you like take another die before you roll that?
My turn. You passing? Yes. Okay. All right. So, I'm going to do this roll over. roll all my buried dice and then I may roll one dice. Okay, this is terrible. I'm gonna reroll that. I need low dice. The highest die I need is a four. Well, okay. Put that there. Put the six into my dog house. All right.
Now, this gets a second one. And it's Alex's turn. I think we're close to the end of the game. Kind of probably halfway there. I'll roll I'll fetch. Okay. Roll eight. Die. You have to roll eight and then pick a number. Let me roll it here. Yeah. Let's put these here. Okay. Yeah. Ooh, that was a perfect roll.
A three, a four. You have a lot of options. Six. I do not want to six. No, not the sixes. No. So, oh, you have a lot of options. Three. Yeah. One, two, three. Cuz I all of these wouldn't let you bust, which is neat. Three. Okay, good. That was a little bit risky. I'm going to do roll over. Roll all my buried dice.
And I can roll one die. A five. I'm going to roll this. A five. I busted. Go ahead. I'll walk. Roll two. Then I may roll one. I must uh you have to also or just take the loss. It's up to you. I have a thing I can score. I'm sure the score did then. I didn't realize. Okay. Well, you're going to bust roll.
Come on. Give me luck. Two. Four. No. No. You need to keep rolling. And you have a wide variety of numbers, too, that you could roll. Okay. That's good. Yeah. God. Okay. I have seven. Next turn, you should probably score that one. Um, all right. So, I'm going to So, this is pointless. I'll go ahead and do this.
Roll three. Five. What's with the freaking fives? And I can't reroll that. Uh, I bust. All right. Score. Nice. So, you have four and then it's my turn. I'm going to do the treats. So, I get two treats. foot. Okay, what I need to do is be very surgical and precise. I need exactly what I need or else I'm doing I think you you're it's best to bust.
It's okay to bust because it gives you just more of a chance to get the remaining one. Gamble roll two dice walk. Yeah, might as well because just busting would be four. Five. Wow. Oh, wait. Six. Oh no, you mislooked that. Wrong. You can do a reroll or just bust. I'll take the reroll. Yeah. Four, six, or three.
Three, four, six. Oh, no. Oh my god, guys. I busted. Look at all these ones. I know. You have so many. Look at that. All right, I'm going to do another bag. Taking two treats. I'm kind of just setting myself up for success here. Okay, your turn. We're kind of tied right now. Three. Oh man. Okay. The five's left.
I'll roll one. You Oh, okay. Four. Okay. And keep going. Um I'm done. Okay. Um, so I think I'll go ahead and do how grab that. And then since I can't grab cards, I'll just roll one die three [Music] roll. Do this. Roll eight dice. Okay. You like that one? It's powerful, I feel. Yeah. No, it's a good one.
It could cover all your bases if you need a six or multiples of a certain number. Oh gosh. Okay. Um, five, four. Your six would be the most useful or the two. One, two, two. Okay. All right. So, put a treat here. Flip everything else over. And then I'm going to do the roll eight dice this time. Three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Let's see what I get. Okay. Um, I guess I'll just do the one here. That's it. Take the treats. Yeah. Three. Three. Yep. I'm going to do the run. Roll three dice. Definitely re-rolling that. Okay. Not not bad. I just need a four, guys, and I'll win. Okay. I just need a four. I got a five. I'll reroll that.
Wait, which card did you pick? Huh? Uh, this one. Oh, okay. Got it. I win. No. Good game. Oh, yay. Oh, so close. It It's always close. Good game. Good game. Good game. This is always so much fun.
