TDG: Crab Rage! unboxing with Ray

Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the discriminating gamer. So how many bones are in the human hand? A handful. Today we're taking a look at Crab Rage from Osprey Games. Now, this is a three-plus player post-apocalyptic crab wrestling area control game. Okay. I've never even heard of this thing until now, but Osprey every now and then they come out with these really kind of quirky games and I have so much fun playing them. They look really bizarre, they look really unique, and this one actually looks fantastic. Okay, I got That's all I got to say. So I'll tell you what, let's go down to the table, let's open this one up, let's see what's on the inside.
All right folks, here we go. This is Crab Rage by Osprey Games. Now, this looks like a game by Is it Pim Thunborg? And uh Bone Dust is going to be our illustrator. Okay, now, live from the wrestling arena in post-apocalyptic world. Okay, it looks like we're going to be doing some crab racing or wrestling. Racing? Whoa, wrestling. Okay, every year millions of salivating crustaceans tune in for the wildest showdown on the planet. Five legendary crab teams battle it out for the ultimate crown of de capo glory, the golden claw. Now, this is a very fast-paced, chaotic, and hilarious, ruthless crab rage or ruthless crab rage is a zany area control game where rage is your greatest weapon.
Ages 14 and up, we're looking at about 45 minutes to play, three to five players to play this game, and it is a versus game. And if there is five teams, hmm, you might want to play this with five different players. But, first of all, let's get this thing opened up and see what we have. Now, this game just looks like it's chaotic fun and I I love chaotic fun games. Sometimes you just want to put a game down on the table and you just kind of want to play it, just goof around, and just laugh. That's sometimes the best way to go. Okay, now, if we can get the box open, which it doesn't really want to come open. It will. There we go. Oh, inside artwork, folks. Now, what have we got? This is Crab Rage. Oh, look at that. Nice little story. Pause, read that, do whatever you like to do. I'll tell you what, I'll even flip it up a little bit so you can get a better view, just like that. Okay, very cool. I like it.
Very nice. That is cool. I love it when they do stuff like that. Now, let's take a look at our rulebook. Ah. Looks like this is actually going to be the same as what's on the inside cover of the box. No problems there, and our component list and everything we're going to get inside. Now, we have our setup. Setup looks very straightforward, pretty easy to do. We've got our backstage area. Okay, blown up. Our game overview and then our round overview as well. Okay, your action phase. Got signature moves, movement rules, bouncing around that ring, the rumble phase, the fan phase, and then of course your rage phase, and then the end of the game. Now, hardcore fans, pay attention.
Okay, we've got our scoring, winning the game, and then we've got our spotlight duels, and some credits, and it looks like we've got a Crab Rage season. So, if you want to play this as a season, play it over multiple games, see who's going to win in the end, there you go. Okay, and then some great artwork just on the back cover. Very cool. I like it. Let's go and see what we have. So, looks like we're going to get I'm guessing this is going to be one of the maybe the backstage board or something like that. Okay, very cool. I love this artwork, too. Very nice. Got to move, split, smash, and go clam. Very nice. But as you can see, punches out good, even goes back in fine. Now, we're going to have some little tokens right down there. There's your front side, and there's your back side. Now, are those tokens different? No, they all look to be the same on this side. Okay.
Let's come over here. What do we got? Okay, it looks like that's going to be our golden claw award, and that is one huge huge award. More tokens we're going to get. These might be There's five of them there, so it's very possible that these tokens are going to be for your player order. Not really sure. All right. But these look like we're going to have our player boards. The Jurassic Horax. Okay, what do we got? Road. Road hall hill hill. I I can't even read I It's so blurry. Sorry, folks. My new multifocal contacts, man. Everything up close is absolutely blurry for me. I But I don't know why. I got to get them fixed. But there you go. All right. We got ice ghost. I can't I can't catch that one. Some colors are hard for me to see, too. Got our mutate section, the electric skeletons.
Uh their tokens. Okay, so I'm guessing that every team's going to have a whole bunch of these little tokens, and they're going to be putting those tokens out for various things. Your Decapo Doom. All right. Got your microphone. Maybe that's your first player token. Very cool. Your extra tokens there. I like the whole comic art comic bookish type stuff. Very nice. Now, I don't know if these are a wrestling These are the rings that you're going to be wrestling in. But they're actually pretty cool. All right. Take a look at all of these. Okay. And there you go. So, if those are the rings, okay, we got several of them. Put those off to the side. Now, this is cool. It looks like we're going to have five boxes for every Every team is going to have their own little box. So, all the tokens and everything, you're just going to put inside this box, hand it to them, and they're good to go.
That is really cool. I like that, and I'm seeing them There's another game I just got that I They did the same thing. They came with little boxes like that, and I love it. All right. Now, our little standees, how are our little standees? Okay, they don't look too bad. All right. Actually, I might be able to get a little more light in this. See if that actually helps. Totally keep forgetting to turn that back light on. They're a little bit tight, but doesn't look like it's going to damage your standees if you have to take them off. Okay, so those are pretty good as well. Got our big giant trophy stand maybe, little front facing arrow right there. Hmm. I'll have to see what that's all about. We're going to have some little cards. What are going to be in our little cards? We got the the mega muscle.
Attack of the fans. Okay, and then it looks like we're going to have a set of these cards. So, what do we have? All right, the pressure cooker. Oh, I wonder if these are like some wrestling moves. The barnacle brawl or something, I don't know. Oh, these might be the same as the other side. Okay. So, we'll put those off to the side. Now, this, the little paper that holds these together, kind of fell off, but that's okay. So, it looks like we're going to have our different teams possibly right here. So, we'll look at the backside of these ones. They're definitely different between them, so you can see that each team is going to be a little asymmetric. Okay. Now, cannonball, fan figure fever rampage frenzy avalanche. All right, I'm not sure what each one of those are.
This is going to be the other side. So, these cards must be the No, they're a little different on both sides. Okay. So, there's a little S down here, too. What's on this other side? See, oh, three and four. Oh, no, that's a five. That's not an S, that's a five. So, if you're playing a five-player game, this is the side you're going to use. Okay. If you're playing a three- and four-player game, you're going to use the other side of the card. Right, but then yeah, so you got your road kill, you got your signature move, and then there's your cannonball. Okay, so ah, so there's the signature move for each one of these. That's what they are. Okay. Very cool. Now, what do we have? This little blue thing right here. Oh, that's just the bottom. Okay, it's got like a little tab. I was trying to figure out almost look like it was something that wanted to come out. So, we'll put those in there. Let's put these cards back in there. Let's put that in there and we're just going to store all this in here for now.
Okay, over here, we're going to get some dice. Oh, so it's going to be a dice shaker. Love dice. Okay. It's like we got some little hit symbols on there. All [snorts] right. Put those over. Now, I'm guessing each team is going to have his own set of dice. I'm going to guess there's five different colors in here and every team is going to have its own set of dice. Very nice. And you can put all those in your box and look at that, you're going to save yourself a whole bunch of room right here cuz you're going to have a bunch of these red tokens and theoretically those red tokens you might even be able to put those in your box as well. Because they're probably damage tokens. Every team needs X number of them. My guess. Who knows?
But there you go. Just regular wood wood cubes. Might be damaged, might not be damaged. I'm not really sure what it is. I'm going to go with damage. That's usually what a damage cube looks like in most games these days. All right, there you go. And I think, folks, I think that is it. So, just to make sure we got nothing down in the bottom and that is going to be everything. Wow. I will say I do love this artwork again. Okay. Now, these boards, once we punch everything, I'm probably going to put them underneath to lift everything up cuz I want everything to go to the top cuz as you can see, this is flush. Okay, and I don't like that I don't like having gaps. Might even be able to leave one down cuz this actually may be raised just a hair. But folks, there you go. That is Crab Rage from Osprey Games. Wow. The artwork just really sucks me into this. It looks very comical, looks very fun. Looks like a nice little dice checker. Can't wait to get this one played. All right, let's head up top and close this out. All right, folks, there you go. That is Crab Rage from Osprey Games. And man, I'll tell you what, the game looks quirky. It looks very fun, okay? And that's exactly what it advertises on the back. It's something that's just very fast-paced. It's light.
You're just going to chuck a whole bunch of dice. You're just going to laugh. You're going to have a whole lot of fun. It's one of those games you're just going to pull out and you're just going to have a good time playing it. You don't have to think too super hard. Maybe maybe there's some good strategy in here. Maybe it's going to be a brain burner and you just don't know it. You got to check this one out to find out.
