One Piece: Dawn of Liberation Gameplay - The Pirates Are Overwhelming!
Transcript
Hey, I'm Alex Radical from Board Game Cow.
I'm Professor Mac.
And today we are playing through One Piece Dawn of Liberation from Kesco. This is a sponsored playthrough. We'll have a link to the crowdfunding campaign down below. And everything you see here is a prototype, rules, components, all those things subject to change. Like there's definitely some component upgrades you'll be seeing and all that. Uh this is the prototype. Now, we will be diving into this. There's a lot to get into. I think there's a lot of details here, especially if you are fans of the anime. Uh, I think you'll appreciate a lot of the details, but that does mean that some things are easier to just encounter as we go through it. To that end, the basic idea, I'm going to give you a very basic overview and then we'll just dive into this. This is a cooperative game for one to four players. We'll be playing a two-player game that will have slight modifications to how we control our captains and crew, but we'll talk you through that. The game plays out across three acts. There's going to be act one, act two, and then a final boss encounter, which is a whole act unto itself. We'll be playing through act one today, but if you want to check out the preview done by mega over here, you'll see a general idea of how the game plays as well as that boss encounter as far as how it's different because it's act one versus act two are just two separate sections of exploring this main board.
Act three is an entire boss encounter that has you facing off against the bosses uh in a desperate fight for survival and it's almost a game unto itself utilizing the same general structure of things. This is a cooperative experience. We are trying to do good things while the game that gets in our way makes our lives a little harder for us. We'll be controlling our various captains. We have monkey Duffy over here, plus various characters as other captains and crew. And we'll be expanding our crew as we play through the game as well. So, additional crew will be added as we go through the experience. We will be exploring on this map, taking actions. We'll walk you through that action system as we do. And the enemy is going to be rolling their pirate dice, putting pirate onto the various regions, as well as advancing the Kaido wheel over here, getting in our way in different ways while throwing various bosses at us. The rest of this we'll kind of cover as we get into it.
I'm going to start by reading the act one description. The Straw Hats arrives in the isolated land of Wano, a country suffering under Kaido and the corrupt shogun Orochi. Luffy meets Otama and discovers the harsh reality living in Wano. As the crew reunites and blends into the Wano culture, the alliance must take shape with the goal of defeating Kaido. Then we have all the setup instructions on the back of act one. We've already done that. We have to defeat Jack to gain lore and rewards. We have to complete story missions. Specifically, we're trying to complete these two story missions which involve us getting a variety of components from around the board. Getting food and weapons and our our what's it called? Getting samurai and all these other things that will help us out in the game. Uh then we are trying to once we accomplish these, we're going to unlock the Udon story mission. And when that's resolved, that's going to be the completion of act one. Then from there, we would unlock these two and then complete this one as well. That would be act two. And that's where we go to the final boss encounter.
We have to complete our character goals to power up. All of our characters have specific goals, but we'll take a turn so you understand the basic turn flow before focusing too much on the goals because again, there's a lot of small details here, but it's really pretty easy to dive into. To that end, I'm going to start off by taking our first turns. We have two captains. Now, we're playing a two-player game, which has a slight modification. Normally, each player would have one captain and their crew mates down here. Uh, in a two-player experience, both players have two captains and their crew mates. So, we can take our turns jumping back and forth between the captains. We have our tokens as far as where they start and there's a whole bunch of different aspects to be mindful of. We'll get into all of those as they come up so you can see them. But we're going to start off with the pirates doing all their various bad things. So, we're going to have the Kaido wheel operate. We have our dice tower. We have our two dice over here, two pirate dice, as well as the Kaido wheel die. And we're going to go ahead and roll these into our dice tower.
And we have a three, two, and two. So, the Kaido wheel is going to move two. One, two. Kaido drinks no action. That's as good as we can possibly hope for. Nothing bad happens over there. Then we have pirates spawning on three and two. That's going to be zone 2 KBI and zone 3 Udon. Those pirates, if we don't deal with them, those pirates are going to attack the region, taking away our joy. We're trying to move our joy tracker up, which will help us out. But if the pirates attack the region undefended by samurai, the joy tracker will move down. As it hits various markers, bad or good things will happen depending on which marker it hits, whether going up or going down. With that in mind, we're going to take our turns. A general turn is going to be you taking your captain token. Where's my captain marker? Do I have one?
I don't think I have one. I'm going to grab my captain marker from the bag that I did not grab previously.
Well, you have yours.
You can use mine.
No, no, I got one. I got I got one. The game comes with enough. Uh, we're going to use our captain token to choose one of these top level actions. Uh, and then our crew mate action as well. So, we're going to do that. And we can also move around. Because of that, we actually started off very interestingly. Both me and I coincidentally chose two people. You have two people in Udon and I have two people in Curry as opposed to splitting out. Uh the good news is all the pirates we have on the board are within distance. Have we spawned pirates in six or four or even five for that matter? We might be in a little more trouble, but I think we have enough control.
Now, Alex, we do have these personal goals that we're working toward.
Yes.
So, for my characters, for Chopper, I want to have two separate regions with eight samurai each. For Nico Robin, I want players to have completed four toopa, which is going to be these down here. But for Sanji, he wants three food in every region at the same time. So I wanted to warn you about that
to not consume the food
potent potentially.
So here's what we're going to do. We have a pretty good start off, especially because all the characters have abilities and your entire crew benefits. So like each captain is going to benefit from their crew abilities,
but also sorry, what are your goals?
So uh my goal is Monkey Duffy's goal is to complete act one. That's a special goal. You always have to have Monkey Duffy in play, which makes sense. Otama wants to turn 10 pirates into samurai, and she's going to do that by spending food, which you don't love.
Yeah.
But then we have Brooke over here. Brooke is my secret weapon. I chose him as or her. I'm actually, fun fact, I I've watched the Netflix live action. That's all I've watched. So, if I don't know everything, um I apologize,
but because I'd say he or she. I don't actually know who Brooke is. I assume she. But Brooke over here, uh she Brooke wants to destroy pirates. And whenever you enter a region, you destroy a pirate. By putting them as my crew, I actually get to benefit with each of my captains as I wander around the board. To that end,
for your character that wants to spend the food, that's actually good for us not to spend it. Do this and then spend it all. Then you can spend it like crazy.
Sure. So, what I'm going to do right now though is because I can do that um in your region and turn it into a samurai. Uh do I care about the pirate in that region? I don't know if I do. I don't know if I do. I'm not going to worry about the pirate right now. So, I'm going to do it now is with Otama over here. Uh, I'm going to use I'm gonna spend a food uh in the region. So, I apologize in advance. I know you just gave me a lecture, but um we're gonna spend the food to destroy that samurai. So, we're going to kill one samurai over here, which maybe I shouldn't. I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know. Um Yeah, I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. Then, uh I am going to That was her first ability. I need a gold tracker. Can you pass me a gold tracker cube?
And that you mean you killed a pirate?
Yes. And that's not using any of my core actions. That's just using her ability. You may spend one food to destroy a pirate. Oh, I said samurai, didn't I? Oh, and in fact, you turn it into a samurai. Even better.
Even better. I need two separate regions with eight each.
Now, by doing that, she just turned one pirate into a samurai. She marks her gold tracker. She got one goal. Then she's going to move. So, she's going to move uh over here into this region where she's going to benefit from Brook's ability to destroy a pirate as you enter a region. So, we have another pirate down. Pirates are slowly going away.
Amazing.
Uh then we are going to recruit because sorry, produce because I think you want that. We're going to produce rolling our die. Uh before we do that, we should do this with um we're gonna generate two lore down here. So, we're going to use Brook to generate two lore. Basically, you're going to do a crew action and a captain action. We'll walk through all the actions as we do them, but the first action I'm doing is I'm generating two lore with my crew, and that's going to bump up our lore tracker to over here. It's a little offiscated as you can see it, but we are two lore right now. We'll move that up as we need to.
And then I'm going to use my captain action. We're going to produce. The way that works is you look at your stat. My captain stat for the yellow actions over here is two plus two over here. Captains have different specialties and abilities which will guide how they play. So I'm going to be rolling two dice plus the captain die because you always do that. And Brooke has an assist over here. Brooke has a level one assist in all of these aspects. So we're going to add one die because Brooke is in the same region. Had Brooke gone to a different region, I would not add that assist ability. So I specifically kind of just powered up over here so I can generate some food.
So you're rolling three. I'm rolling three dice plus my captain die and I got a 1, two, three. We got three food going into KB. Can I get three food in KB?
Yep.
I think somebody wants food in KB, right?
Could you reach it? Sorry.
Okay.
Okay, that's great.
Three food in every region at the same time. So, we are working our way. That was my first ability. Now, the question is, do you want to go or should I go with Monkey Duffy? That was a full turn, by the way. So, I I moved, which you get a free move every turn. I did a crew action and I did a captain action.
Uh, I say that's up to you. I'm happy to go or to have I'm happy to do either way.
Uh I am fine either way as well. Um so
so I'm wondering am I able to attack Jack directly already.
Um if you are once you enter the region with Jack. Oh, I didn't cover this. We have a boss on the board already. This boss has 10 health. They also have an enemy phase ability. They don't happen the first turn that they enter the board. So Jack started in play which means we did not resolve the enemy phase ability until next turn. Uh Jack's over here and requires 10 damage on it. So, um I think attacking Jack is a fine choice.
And remind me how much I can move.
Uh you can move one region by default.
One. Okay. But I can separate.
You can indeed separate your captains, your various captains. Yes.
That's what we're going to do. So, we're going to take a boss action.
Okay.
With Vinsmoke, Sanji.
Beautiful.
Um and
now the red actions on your captive action are going to be boss and defend. Boss is attacking a boss character. Rolling the dice. Doing what I did but with uh attacking. Defend is attacking pirates instead of the boss.
Sorry to interrupt. I don't know if I have her token.
Who's her token? Um, sure. Oh, did I not give you a token? I may not have.
I think I do.
I may not have. Let's find your token. We do. Yep. I definitely did not give you a token.
There you go.
Okay. So, I think I should also produce here.
Yes.
Okay. So, that is what we will do. So, I'm allowed to go out of order.
Indeed, you can.
Okay. So, I'll produce first, which is going to be two food, correct?
Uh, which you're doing with her? Yeah.
So, she produces one. Crew always do one by default. You don't roll.
Well, that's still good cuz we'll end up with three here. Oh, sorry. And I meant to move to this region.
Beautiful.
Where they were.
Okay. So, I will move there. And now I will take the box a boss action.
Okay. Perfect. So, you have a plus two in red. So, I believe you'll be doing Oh, and you supported. Yep. Exactly. So, you have a total of plus three. Okay. And whenever
I bought a dice train, I didn't use it for my turn.
For Vince Mog, it says, "Whenever I use a boss action, gain one food." Is that to the region?
Yes. Well, you So, you can always exchange resources between a region and your character's inventory slots at will.
Okay. Because I think we want it there. It feels crazy.
Wait, did you generate food or not? I can't remember.
So, I did with her. Yes.
But now, and there was already one there.
Yes, there were two.
But with his thing, it's whenever you use a boss action, gain one food. So, I'm confused. Why is there only Oh, cuz there's only one there. Got it.
There was one. She made one, but he can now make a third.
Great. I forgot that I consume one. That's what threw me off.
Yeah, you got hungry.
I did get hungry.
All right. Ready?
Whenever you use a boss action, gain a food. Oh, so you should totally attack boss all the time.
That's what I'm saying.
Yeah,
that's what I'm saying. We're powerful. Look at that.
That's be four damage. So, we are going to drop uh him down from 10 to six. Uh he is uh he's in play.
Okay. Fun fact, if there's bosses on the board, they suck joy from us. So, we want to take the bosses out.
All right.
Okay. Is that your action?
That's my action.
Uh, so you generated food, you have all that. And so, you're done. Now, we have two more characters left. We still have two captains. So, um, I have monkey Duffy. I could do a boss action while I'm there cuz I have plus two.
I could do a boss action. If I get plus two, five, I could do theoretically I could do six damage. I got really lucky. Sure.
No, I can't because my my crew can't do a defend. So, I'd be rolling three dice total. No, I could do maximum five. So, I can't kill the boss either way. So, if I can't kill the boss either way, I'm debating what makes the most sense. Um, also, I should I should mark Can I have a token? I forgot I destroyed a a gold token because Brooke destroyed a character, a pirate in Kibby by walking into there. Okay, so we're gonna mark that in Kibby over here. Um, I think I'll move. Although I could move after or before. I guess I probably should attack.
Um, Alex.
Yes.
Sorry. Remind me what what those are.
Uh, those are weapons.
What you're looking at?
Could I have picked it up on my
Oh, yeah. Absolutely. You can exchange them as you want. By all means, take them.
Could I have then used it?
It depends.
Boss attack.
No, the weapons are going to be used for trading in.
Okay, then I'll wait. I'll leave.
Uh, so what we're going to do right now is we are going to I'm going to take a a boss attack action. So, I'm going to move my marker over here. Taking a boss attack action. I will also first move my crew. Do I want to reduce or defend?
We're taking him out.
I think I will defend. So, I'm going to kill the pirate right off the bat. We're going to kill the pirate um with that character. Then I'm going to do the boss action. So, I'm going to roll three dice because again, I rolled plus two for Luffy and then one supported by Brooke. And then I'm going to roll this and I got one, two, three damage. That's going to drop him down to three. Oh, we might actually take him out this round. Okay. Well, it depends if you what you do. I wasn't.
Um, but then I'm going to move into an adjacent region. And again, because Brook's part of my crew over here, I will immediately destroy a pirate in that region. And then once again, can I get a gold cube? Can I actually have a few of those cuz I'm probably going to need a bunch.
Yeah,
even just a few for right now. I'll ask you for more later. And that means we killed one in Udon as well. So, we've killed one in Kooie and one in Udon. And I believe that's my entire turn. So, pirates are clear, which is amazing. Um, and it's also it's more amazing than you think, but we'll get into that. Well, because of the way the wheel works, we haven't showed them. That's my turn. That's I'm done.
You may spend any number of food to turn that many player die rolls into successes. Oh. Oh, that's good to know. I don't want to do it now. I could have spent a food from that region to turn one of these into a success, but I don't want to.
To you, Meg.
Okay. Um, and this abil all of my abilities work for everyone, correct?
Yes. So, the one thing is um for each So, your captain works with your crew, but your captain should not benefit from each other's abilities. Okay,
I believe um this the the rules around the two-player modifications are not 100% clear. Again, prototype and all that. I'll put any corrections in the pin comment down below.
So, I think this is what I'm going to do, which is a little bit more of a passiveish turn for Chopper, but I'm going
You're not attacking Jack.
Well, he doesn't really attack. That doesn't That's not really what he does.
No, but what he does do, let me just show Let me just walk through what he does do in the enemy phase. If he survives till next turn, first of all, we will lose a joy.
But I think I'll be rolling with one die.
I'm just giving you the information. Oh, I see your point. I see your point.
I think I have one die. So,
you have one die plus your captain die.
Oh, that's true.
You have your captain die and you have one die. Well, let's see how bad Jack is. Move Jack to the next region in numerical order. Place two pirates and destroy two samurai. So, he will go here, put out two pirates, and destroy two samurai. So, the question is, if you want, I could have spent a food from that region to make my last die a success, bringing him down to two. It just depends if you want to. I would do that if your if your goal is to take him out.
I would do that.
I would I would spend the food if we trying to take him out.
Up to you.
When we kill him, we get two joy, two food, and two weapons plus one joy.
It wasn't what I wanted to do for
That's why I'm giving you the I'm giving you the choice. I'm happy to support your actions.
Yeah, I guess it's like what do I do? Let us die.
We're not dying. It's just we're gauging how bad the the the the general world will be.
Fine.
All right. I will spend that food to convert my last thingy to
Andrew's one of my
But you we'll get it back. He gets two food when you kill him.
Okay.
All right. So, I spent the food to make my last one a success on that one using Luffy's ability. And that's going to drop him down to two health.
All right. Well, we're showing solidarity. We're ganging up against these bosses. The bosses are are everything.
Who attacked him?
Um Luffy attacked him.
He has to be in that
Luffy attacked then moved out.
Okay. I'm just with the with the with the retcon of team planning. I'm like realizing I would have spent the food.
Oh, for sure.
Okay. So, I'm going to have Chopper pick up both of these.
It seems reasonable enough. And then move over to here.
Okay.
This makes me so nervous. We have nothing. Well, you have we we we just have you have to get there's basically there's a two on this die and there's a um
and I have no way to roll. Correct.
No, but we you roll well. You roll well. So,
I don't know. That's cute.
I think you can do it.
Oh, wow.
That's three. That's three. That's overkill. I shouldn't I'm going to take my food back. Let's put that food back on the board. I don't need No, we're not going to do that.
So, wait. I I can I would have had to take the boss a section.
Yes.
You would have had to also support it. So you could have produced with your produced.
I would have produced.
Oh yes, there's that food goes back on the board.
So you only
there should be two. Oh no, just I put the one back. And so now you've done the boss action with supported by the die. You've taken out Jack, which means we got two joy. So we're going to bump up twice in the joy tracker to 12. Um we're also going to get Oh, plus one. Plus one joy over here. Oh, we get additional plus one joy. Good.
Okay, so we got plus one joy. We get a red scabbard at random. We get to see how that works in a second. Uh then we also get two food. If you want to put two food, um, put them in the region. And again, they can swap back and forth as needed.
Any region,
uh, the region you're in.
Yeah.
And then two weapons.
I'm going to have this guy.
Okay. And we take a boss
and weapons. Uh, yeah, two weapons and two two food. Just drop them in the region right now. You can, uh, adjust as you need.
Right.
Well, this place needs four, so I'm going to leave these here now.
Beautiful. Uh, then we get a red scabbard at random. So, this is where you get to see the red scabbard uh, system. These are a bunch of tiles. Some you choose, and you get them at random. Uh generally they're good, one of them is bad and they activate more each time you get more of them.
Sometimes you choose, sometimes it's random.
We got food. So we get to activate one food. Uh go ahead and generate another food
anywhere.
Uh in that region
I believe it's in the region again. Some things are all right. Or again, you can pick it up. That would be that would work. That's it. That's the round.
Okay.
Are we done with the round?
Done with the round.
We go to the end phase. In the end phase, we resolve any end phase abilities. For right now, we only have the one on this card over here. Uh, each pirate reduces the joy meter by one unless blocked by a samurai, which there are no pirates, so that's fine. If there were pirates and samuris, the pirates kill the samurai. The samurai do not kill the pirates. They're just um meat shields. Uh but then uh that's it. That's all we have right now for our inface abilities, which means we go to the next round. In the next round, we start with the Kaido wheel. So, we're going to take these dice over here and put them down here. And we're going to see what we got. We got another two. So, it goes one, two. Now, if it did get a higher number, you still stop here and we add a pirate die. So, now in the future, we're going to have another pirate die and two sixes, by the way, as well. So, we're going to have two pirates showing up over here in uh Oh, we are not close to there. I guess Luffy is close. Luffy's adjacent. Luffy can go there. Luffy can go there. Plus, we have samurai there.
Um, but that is basically the round, I guess. Oh, we have to recruit samurai, don't we?
Recruiting is going to be tough. That's a slow process.
Mhm.
We need to get eight samurai. You said
in two different places. Do you have an ability to make samurai?
If you gain one or more samurai, I gain additional. There we go. That's where that's where it is.
But not like crazy.
Yeah, but I can convert pirates to samuris too. Okay, so we are fine adjacent. Although I wish there were more pirates in your region. Ah, gosh darn it. Okay. Um, it is now our turn. We did our things. We put the stuff out. We added a um pirate dice. So now we're rolling three pirate dice a turn. The game is going to escalate even as we get stronger. And unless you want to go first, we can just whoever has the first turn. turn. And just so you know, just so you're following, uh, for these two missions, we need to take a stash action. That's one of our captain actions. Or alternatively, you can use your crew. Um, but what you're doing is we're trying, we need to get 10 lore for both of those. We need to get 10 lore on this track. Four weapons and one of these pedals from the bag, which you'll see soon. And then four food, and two weapons. So, those are the things we're trying to get our hands on in order to resolve.
All right. I'm going to go with chopper.
Chopper. I'm going to do the turn I wanted to do.
That sounds amazing.
So, we're going to go over here and discover.
Okay. and recruit.
Beautiful.
So, I'm going to move.
So, let's get the samur out. Unless you're moving first.
Okay.
What's your thinking? You're pausing.
I'm going to trade this to him.
I don't know. Okay, cool. Cool. You just you can just drop it off in the region and pick it up later. Yeah.
All right. So, I'm going to go to here.
Okay. Drop the samurai over there.
And yes, that's where I'm going to recruit, but I get an additional one. Yes, you do.
And then I will uh discover.
Okay.
Try to up our lure.
That seems reasonable. So, when you discover, you're going to take a discover out. Oh, you good at discovering. Okay. So, she's going to roll the two dice plus she's supported. So, she's rolling three dice plus her captain.
I don't I I only get one because
No, you get you get one, two, three, four.
That's what I I I was Yeah. Plus my die.
Four D. Four plus your die. Yeah.
All right. That is one, two, three, but not the worst. Still four four. So you get four lore going from two to six and you draw one token from the bag.
Now those are going to be one of three things. Either they're going to be the uh smile fruit, which is not good for us, or they're going to be ally pedals or boon pedals, I think they're called.
Then we uh put it back in and pretend we didn't. That's not true. That's not true. You got an ally pedal. Ally pedals can be held on to as you need, but you have to use them before you can trade them in to accomplish a goal. So what does this one have?
Animaru. Take any number of resources from any region or player.
Oh, that's fun. And you can cash that in whenever you want to.
Yeah. Yink them. Okay.
And I believe Yeah, I believe that's everything. I recruited two people.
Okay.
Uh with that in mind, um I probably should do something similar. I may as well help you on that samurai goal. So, I'll start off with um Otama. I am annoyed cuz Otama can't use her ability to um to do the things. She can't. There's no pirates. Now, the good news is I'm still going to be killing things, which is fine, but I just won't be converting. I need more pirates on the board is what I'm saying. I need more pirates. But either way, uh, I'm going to start by doing a recruit action because that makes sense to me. Oh, unless I want to do producing.
Should we have a boss out?
No, we killed the boss. We killed the boss. Bosses do not have to be on the board.
Okay.
Um, we are we again because we did teamwork and we agreed to um I don't I don't know if I should recruit. I think I should help you with your other goal.
No, I think we should recruit.
No, no, no. Because I'm going to generate food. Exactly. Food. Food. So, I'm going to really close food. Here's move. Here's the thing. Here's my one thing.
Yes. Tell me one thing.
This guy is going to move here and bring three here.
That's amazing. I'm going to move over here. Okay. With her. Um, she's unfortunately not going to generate. Um, actually, I'm going to leave her in the center cuz then next turn she could have a better turn.
Isn't she better here? Maybe one there.
She can't. I know. We need one here and I can't get here. So, I'm going to move over here with her. Then, um, I won't benefit from Brook's ability, but I will be able to do a lore action. So, if we move the lore tracker up to eight, cuz we need lore anyway.
Also, if we get Lore to 20, we will draw another red scabbard. That's a good thing to do early on before we spend all our lore. Uh then I'm going to move over here to the produce action. Rolling again 1, two, three dice. So we're going to do three dice plus our captain dice. And we're going to be producing in that region. And we're going to generate three food. So can I have uh three food over there. And I will pick up two of it, putting it on my player dashboard, so we can move things around as needed. Beautiful. So she's now carrying some food, which will help her with her action as well. You can spend a food to destroy samurai. We don't have any. Uh, that was her turn. Her turn is done. I think that's everything, which means now it's time for Luffy's turn. I'll take Luffy's turn. And you could do your captains in any order. You just have to fully resolve a captain. Uh, I'm going to have Luffy wander into this region. First things first, it's going to immediately kill one because of Brook's ability.
Soul parade. I love
ability. What are you going to do with Luffy?
I don't know yet. Why? What do you want me to do with him?
Well, if you if you somehow raise the lore, he could do this. I think
So, we can talk about that. The only question mark is do we want to get our lore to 20 before cashing it in.
Yeah,
because of that aspect. Um because if we get the the red scabbard, it helps us out.
Yeah.
Um
that's fair. That's fair. I agree with that actually
with that. Uh over here. So Luffy moved over here. Killed a pirate with this ability. So I need a token to show that we killed a pirate in Hakumai. Okay. Again, Brooke wants to kill two pirates in every region. So we got to travel a lot.
Uh but then you may spend a number of food player dice. So the question is I could once again do a lore generation action, which I might. Yeah, I think I'm going to generate lore again. So, two more lore for us.
Okay,
we're going to have him focus on lore generation and Luffy is going to head down over here to the uh boss action. Um, and you got lore. Okay, we're going to do a defend action, I guess. I hate that.
Maybe not. You know what? No, move back down that two lore. I'm going to use the down.
Yeah, I'm going to use her the action to generate
I guess. Yeah, I'm going to use the white action over there that I just did to generate a single um kill. So, I'm just going to kill that pirate using that.
Wow. Um, and then instead I'm going to go to the produce action. Again, I'm trying to upgrade you as fast as possible. So, I'm going to do the produce action, which is gonna be plus two. I'm not going to be supported because I'm not using the same action bubble there. So, we're going to roll two dice plus the pirate dice. We're trying to get you as much food as possible. What a bad roll. What a bad roll. That was terrible. I'm going to generate one food. That's that's that's terrible. All right, cool. That was my turn. You still have on my turn.
Okay. And I can do my action and then move.
Yeah, you can do your AC coup movement and action in any order you want.
Okay. So, I think I'm going to do this.
Okay.
So, I'm going to
generate two lore.
Uh I'm going to recruit first where I am. Yeah. And the two lore. So, I will recruit um here.
Okay. How many with what? You're doing your basic You're doing a crew recruit.
Yeah. So, this one.
No, wait. No, no, over here. That's going to be rolling a dice.
Oh. Oh.
Which character are you using right now?
Him. So, he's
But I just figured might as well.
So, you're going to roll two dice because you're supported
cuz he's good with attacking, but like whatever. There's nothing to attack right now.
Okay. Okay.
Two crew pop up over here.
Yep. And then I'm going to move.
Okay.
To Well, and she she did the L. I already did that. Okay. So then I'm going to have him move to here and drop off those three food.
Beautiful. So at this point, we're pretty close to getting one of your characters upgraded
and then we can use all the food. Then we can start have yours just pop them all off.
Are we done?
Yes.
Pirates are all clear. We are doing we're doing great. Staying in control for now. We are going to go ahead and roll more bad things though. So we're going to see how this goes for us.
In here. And that's going to we're going to let that go. That's a four, which means we're going to go straight to here, which means we're going to stop and reveal a boss. That's not great for us. We're going to reveal this boss.
We have a new boss. Eight health over here, giving us something else to focus on. Uh, where's the eight on this die? I cannot find it. It's definitely exists. There we go. Players cannot produce outside of the flower capital. So, we can no longer produce unless we are in here.
Okay, that's not great for our goal.
Um, it's not great for what we want to do.
Crazy, but we'll just kill him.
I still I think we can still upgrade you this turn. But anyways, uh he goes to the flower capital. So his token is going to go to the flower capital. So we do have but everyone's adjacent. We could kill him. Enemy phase which will not trigger this round. Lose lore equal to the smile fruits discovered which we have none. And during the reward gain lore equal to the smile food discovered. Each captain produces one res of their choice. So that's fineish. Okay. Uh these dice over here are going to be f four, three, and five. So we have five, three, and four as far as the pirates go. And uh do you want to go first or should I? Sorry. What?
Do you want to go first or should I?
First with what?
Uh actions.
I think we Oh, we're already back at
Yep. The bad things happened.
The pirates is slowly chipping around. Wait us. The boss is Papa into play.
Well, we should definitely have him attack the boss.
Go for it then. Move into it.
All right. So, let's do this. And um
are you supporting?
Yeah.
Yeah. Go ahead.
What?
You can only just remind you can only produce in the flower capital,
right? Um, well, that's where I'm going anyway, right? That's where he is.
That's where he is.
So, the only question is, uh, what does defending do? Cuz I never knew that.
Defending. Defending is confusing.
Is it worth it?
Defending is killing a pirate.
Oh,
it's confusing cuz defend.
There is a pirate there, actually.
Yeah, you could absolutely do that. Well, you could defend. You could kill the pirate that you start with.
You think that's better?
Yeah, cuz that that way we're moving inwards.
All right, so I'll do that. So, I'll defend there.
Okay, pirate's dead.
And then I'll move up if you don't mind moving me. And then I will attack. So I have two dice plus my die plus one more die.
But I get to produce a food or gain a food one.
Okay, that's four.
Four production. Is that what you're doing? No, you're attacking.
No, that's attacking.
Four attacking. So he's down to four health already. Okay, this is not bad.
It's what I do.
Okay. Are you done with your action?
Yep.
Do Do you want to go with the other person or should I go?
Because I guess Luffy probably is the best one to tack next.
So, Alex,
yes. You know how I killed the pirate here? Yes.
I forgot about her ability. It's whenever you gain lore, destroy a pirate in your region. And last round, she had done this.
So, that one should have been.
So, you're going to kill this. Kill that one.
Okay.
Okay. Uh, that's fine. Or my turn.
That's fine. Yeah.
So, I'm going to take a turn with Otama. I'm going to produce. So, we're going to go ahead and do lore generation, I believe. So, we're going to generate two lore.
Okay.
Okay. Then, I'm going to produce now that I'm supported. So, I'm going to be rolling three dice plus the captain dice
produce.
And we got That's not bad. That's four production. Can I get four food?
Are you there?
I am there. I'm carrying now. But the fun thing is, man, is I haven't moved yet.
So, do you know what I'm going to be doing?
Moving.
I'm going to be picking up all this food and moving.
So, specifically,
uh,
I could give you one.
You could. I don't necessarily need it. Now, here's the question. Do we want to get your upgrade or do we want to get the get rid of the Orochi guy? I don't know because
I want to say both.
I don't know if we could do both.
I feel like Orochi is more important.
Okay, fine. If that's the case, I'm going to simply wander over here with my move, which will immediately kill this because of my ability over here.
That's how you're getting Orochi.
Um, no, I'll explain in a second. And I'm going to put this I killed a person in Ringo. All right. Now, the reason that may have sound confusing to you because I understand that the question was I could have moved over here, dropped off the food, then he could have picked it up, moved over here, and dropped off the food. But instead, he's going to move here to kill because he has a good attack,
which speaking of which, I think I should go next now.
Sure.
So, cuz I've done that. I've done that. We did all the things. Perfect. Uh, she's going to drop off three food in her region so that she has food in the region. Uh, we are two food short. We'd almost get you an upgrade already. Uh, upgrading your characters is important. Those boss battles are everything in this game. So, um, it's important.
So, wait, hold on, hold on, hold on. When you produce, you roll.
Yes.
So, hear me out.
Yes.
If she goes down here and drops food.
Yes.
And then he kills that guy.
Yes.
Chopper could potentially make food and then bring it over. Or vice versa, I guess.
One second. One second.
Chopper could do produce.
Chopper can produce then move. And Chopper has a decent production,
so we can roll. Okay. So, I will So, I'm going to go down here is what we're saying. That's all that's only changed. Great. Okay. Cool. I'll still keep the rest of the food on me.
Um,
should those swords be there?
No, the swords were there. Yes. Okay.
All right. So, I moved over here instead. Beautiful. Love it.
Beautiful.
Uh, teamwork. Teamwork makes work. I'm going to wander up. I think I completely buy what you said. That makes complete sense. I didn't see that option.
It's close.
I love how you were like, "We can do both." And I was like, "We can't do both." But we could possibly.
We're so close.
Uh, now I'm going to go ahead and attack. Now, Luffy is going to go over here. The first things first, I'm going to go to this action over here and I'm going to produce. Given the situation, I'm going to produce a sword because at this point, we're low on swords relative to other things. Uh, we're going to produce a sword in this region over here just so we have it present. Um, then I'm going and just doing that to boost my attack. So, I have plus one. So, now I'm rolling three dice. I just need to get four across all of these. Um, although although I will leave two food behind in this region because I might want to consume it for my ability. So, I'm leaving that food behind. I'm going to roll. And we got one, two, three, four. That's four right away. So, the boss is dead. Game lore equal to the smile fruits, which is nothing. Each captain produces a resource of their choice, which means you can already produce one food if you want. I'm going to produce a sword.
Produce it where we are.
Uh, yes. Oh, it's each captain. Oh my gosh. Okay, so we're going to put that one there. I'll put a a sword over here. So, I did two swords for mine. Okay. Uh, that was this. And then uh we also get a joy. So, we got one more joy over here and the captain is gone, gone, gone, gone. We'll tuck underneath our captain, our stage one captain cards, boss cards. I mean, uh, that was my turn, which means now I believe I did all the things. It is your turn.
She can't like have picked up. She can't have on my turn have traded with him, could she?
But then take stuff with him.
I would say not again. The two players
together.
What do you mean? They're all She's always together.
Yeah. What is the question you're asking?
Is if she can have this food and then drop it off over there when he moves.
In theory, that's probably doable based on the the rules. Yeah.
So, we'll give her the food that he had. They were together at that point.
So, now I just have to produce one.
Correct.
Okay. So, we'll move cuz it I can do it in there first. Yep. So, we'll move first.
Okay.
Um, we're going to produce and we're going to lure. So, the lure is just going to be two. Yep.
And then we're going to produce. So we're rolling one
plus this.
That's it.
Yep.
There were no pirates. Correct.
Correct. We took them all out.
Two.
Beautiful. That's two food.
Okay.
Plus the food you're going to drop off.
Okay. And put two more food in play. And now we have three food in every region, which means your goal your goal is accomplished. Let's trade in your goal. So it happens immediately.
Pass in your goal and flip your character card.
My guy.
Your guy.
Black leg Sanji.
So you have upgraded stats over here as well as an upgraded ability.
Whatever you produce, destroy that many pirates or deal that much damage to a boss in your region.
That's pretty cool.
That is pretty cool.
So you can just produce like crazy and then destroy the boss. You have plus three on production.
Yeah, that's pretty cool.
The only downside is your crew is not super suited for production, but that's fine. Yeah, but that's okay. I don't
All right, that's the round, which means we go to the next round in the end phase. Pirates, but we have complete control of the pirates, which means we are going to roll these dice over here and see which bad things happen.
Thanks for letting me get so much food.
We move two, which means we get a nothing action. We also have six, six, and two. So, we're going to put one, two, and over here a third. And that is that. Uh, we now could focus on we can now focus let's focus on getting lore and then cashing in for those missions.
Okay,
cuz that's the next step over here.
Yeah,
I think so. I mean, it's either that or just
Can you move the boss token?
The boss token should come off the board. You're not wrong.
Okay, so we want to be at 20 lore before we
It's helpful to our overall strategy. Once you get to 20 lore, spending lore makes sense as much as you need to, but that initial boost to 20 gets you a uh random red scabbard.
Say no more.
I believe random. I have to double check. It says on the board.
Grab my Chopper Man.
Chopper Man. Okay.
And we're going to pop him up to exactly there.
Beautiful. And then um I'm going to do the thing.
Do the thing.
I'm going to use him to discover.
Okay.
And we will additionally recruit.
Beautiful.
Or Oh, I could defend.
I'm going to recruit.
We do need to get eight samurai.
Yeah. So, can you put two samurai in that area?
Uh, wait. The bottom action.
Yeah.
The bottom is one. If you gain one or more soon.
Oh, that's right.
You can do that twice a turn. I forgot about that.
Well, not
you can do what I'm saying. You do it as part of this and as part of that.
Yeah, if I do both things. But I don't think there's two recruits together.
Um No, but there's a recruit up here.
Yeah. But
Yeah. Yep. It's misaligned, but you choose.
Okay. So, um now I'm going to discover.
Okay.
So, it's going to be I think four dice plus my Love it.
Oh, that was terrible.
Okay, one, two, and draw a token for the bag.
We're almost at 20. We're working our way there slowly.
That was rough.
That was indeed rough.
Okay, we have Mintomo. You may exchange any resources in your inventory for any other resource. Okay.
Okay,
we do need one to pay for that, too. So, that's not a bad one for that.
Okay, I believe I will go and I'm trying to actually help you out over here um in general. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to go down here.
What do you need again?
Right now, well, so my the problem is my upgrades are a little slower. Luffy, you have to complete act one and I have to kill these samurai. But I can aggressively push your upgrades and that helps us as a
and now you can use the food one.
I could use the food one, but I don't even need to cuz here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to start by Luffy moving into this region. We'll use Brook's ability. That's going to kill one of these over here. Uh, which means I get a token on Hakumai over here. So, I got one full region done with a samurai with pirate killing. Nice.
Uh, then I will use the action as my supporting action plus two lore. Can you give us two lore?
Yes.
And I will use the recruit action on Luffy, which means I'm going to be rolling three dice. Two plus three down here. And then plus the pirate die. So, I'm rolling three dice over here and doing a recruit action. Uh, that's going to give me one, two, three. And I'm going to spend food in the region cuz why not to turn those two into successes. because that's Luthy's ability. That's one, two, three, four, five. I will now generate five samurai in this region. One, two, three, four, five. Uh, we're one short, but I will be able to do that because now I'll do her turn. I'll do it right away. I will spend a food. I'll spend it from the region because why not? I'll spend a food uh in order to replace this one with a samurai because that's her ability. Uh, that will then give this over here because she will now have replaced one more pirate into a samurai. We now have eight in Hakumai. That also changes my action now because I was originally going to recruit there, but I'm realizing that doesn't make quite as much sense. So, I will now pop over here. I'll move her into this region over here. Um, and then from there, which action? I guess discovering probably makes the most sense. So, I could defend or recruit. I will recruit a samurai into this region. Let's just be proactive and prep. And then I will do a discover action. So, I'm going to be rolling one two dice plus my captain die. I'm going to roll these and I got one, two, three. So, we're going to get three lore. Bump our lore up. We're going to 21.
Okay. We can remove that tile. And what does it say underneath? It says random or
lure.
Gain a random red. No. G. Yeah, at random. Okay. So, it's another random one. Okay. And if you want to grab the bag cuz we're going to need the lore bag.
And we're going to do a random one. We have joy. We're going to get joy, but we're going to activate this. You activate for each one you already got. So, we're going to gain two joy going to 15.
What do we get? The bad one.
The bad one. Okay. Add a pirate die. Uh-oh. That's actually not great. Wait, wait, wait. We discover again. So, we do get one more. Whenever you go discovering, sometimes you do get smile food. And smile food's not the best. Okay, that is a loot pedal right away. So, two food or destroy two pirates anywhere. Um, are you killing this pirate or should I take it out?
I will take it out.
You prefer to. Okay, so we'll get two food. Uh, we'll put the two food um and we'll put it into on her board cuz she loves food for her ability.
Good.
Okay, that and we're going to spend it. So now we have this available as well. That was both my turns. You have, I believe, one more turn.
Yes.
You have one more turn, right? Cuz you already did one of your characters. You did chopper.
Yeah.
So I'm going to produce.
Yeah.
So I'm going to move up to there.
Okay.
Um
you're not recruiting for samurai?
No. No, I feel like it's not urgent.
It's not. We got 10 time.
Yeah, I want to get rid of the guy instead cuz I'm going to produce and then I can destroy that many pirates or deal that much damage. So, I'm going to destroy that pirate and produce. But I have to roll. And I just haven't I So, I have a question. Can she stash?
Yes, absolutely.
Oh, we don't have the swords there. But I could use this.
You could produce swords.
I could produce swords. Okay. So, I'll have her stash.
But if you do that, you have to you have to carry it over food, which you I guess you have it over there. Yeah. And she won't help. Correct.
Help with what
if I'm using stash.
She will not augment.
So I'm I'm currently
okay
doing this.
Go for it.
Okay.
So you're rolling three dice as your plus and your captain's eye. That's five production. Were you doing swords?
Yeah, let's just do all swords. So we'll do three on there cuz we're going to have her stash.
Okay. So what you're doing now is now me is doing our first stash action. We're going to spend 10 lore, dropping from 21 down to 11. Four food, which will be the three in the region. Plus, you have one on your player board you just in.
Uh, plus the two swords that you just we didn't take those swords. Uh, and that's going to be a stash action. This is now done. Oh, wait. We need to actually take those swords. Pass me the swords if you don't mind
because now you get to see how a stash action works. There's some player boards you have not fully seen down here. You've seen this card over here, which has our Nphase and our Kaido wheel. It also has the special boss deck, but it also has all of these over here. It has the the Orochi as well as the uh various members of the Topio. When you stash, you put those down onto these characters and then for each character you are eventually able to defeat through stashing enough resources, that gives you extra turns in the final boss encounter. And those extra turns are essential. Not to mention, your character wants to defeat four of the Toyo Show. And once four are defeated, you upgrade. So, we can go ahead and stack these. If you have any preferences, feel free. I think
I think we should work on her.
Yep. I'm just putting them down over here. Just plain simple. 12 food and 12 swords. So once we get them down, it's worth noting in addition to the missions that will allow you to stash, you also have basic stash actions. So for example, over here you can stash in order to discover. And over here you can stash in order to break people out of prison, which hasn't happened yet, but may well happen. Players can go to prison for a variety of ways, including if the joy starts going away. That's one of the ways to go to prison. All right, that was the round.
Yeah.
Okay. Uh that is done. Oh, wait. We are done over here. We get to recruit Mamasoki over here. So, where is a stack? Do you have your stack of of pirates that you put on the floor next to you?
Stack. There we go.
So, what we do is we just completed the mission. So, we got to recruit Mama over here. So, uh, go ahead and do you want this on your crew?
Sure.
All right. You now have an extra crew member.
Nice.
I need to find his token.
Okay. His ability is son of Odin. Whenever your captain die rolls a critical, trigger a red scabbard.
Fun.
That is pretty cool.
Triggering a red scabbard just means you activate it. You ping it. You say, "I'm going to generate a joy."
Yeah, that's pretty cool.
Okay. Uh, plus you have additional crew action every single round now.
Yep.
Which in theory, I believe you have now.
Oh, okay. Really?
I believe so.
Okay. And I would have to choose one of these though, correct?
You Why? You can choose anything.
Oh, it's just that
you won't be supporting. Yeah.
Oh, well then let's recruit. Should we recruit or lure? Recruit would only get me one, correct?
Uh, we will need lore in theory, but yeah, I guess lore is not bad.
Recruit would only get me one. So, yeah. So, I'll lure two instead.
Lore two. Okay. And that's the round. We now go to the end phase. The end phase, there are no pirates. We've been doing great, but also the pirates are slowly increasing. It's also worth noting we proceed to the final boss encounter in one of two ways. Either we have gone through act one and act two completely or if we're supposed to add a pirate die and there are none left to add. Okay. And we got three. So 1, two, stop and add a pirate eye. Speaking of which, by the meantime, we have 3, three, 1, and four. So we have 3, three down here, one over here, and four over here. Okay, that is that. Which means, guess what time it is? Be
rude.
Time to take our actions.
Okay.
Shall we do this?
Yes.
All right,
I'm going to do it.
Go for it.
I'm going to So I get two crew actions.
You now have two crew actions. both your crew have my captain on.
Yes.
And both your crew can support um the uh what's it called? Captain.
Okay. So, I'm going to stash and I'm going to recruit and
are you stashing?
Okay.
Okay.
So,
are we completing the second ability already? The second mission?
Yeah. I'm going to recruit with this first.
Okay.
Which is going to be just the three.
Oh, things are about to get crazy over here.
It does feel a little courageous.
No, no, you're going to see why in a second, but go ahead.
That's four recruit, four samurai. We now have plenty of samurai in that region.
And now I think this happens immediately.
You upgrade the character.
Okay,
you flip your
chopper.
Yep.
Chopper.
Cotton candy. Lover chopper monster point. If you would gain one or more samurai, gain an additional samurai. If a samurai fights the pirate in your region, the pirate is also destroyed. Haha.
That so the samurai do operate defensively. So just spread samurai across the board,
but it was not his turn technically when I was doing this. Okay, so we that was my recruit action. Now I'm going to move to here
and I'm going to recruit. Is the recruit just one with him? Yeah. So, we'll recruit one here and then we will stash with her here.
Okay. So, you have four swords.
Yes.
So, the four swords will be cashed in. We're going to take them and we'll put them onto ulti over here. So, she's got six swords out of the 12 she needs. We're going to spend the pedal that we have over here. We can put on who's who or on let's put on black. Straight up pedals. We're just being focused.
Um and then you give up 10 lore, which you did already. And this goes away. We also get to recruit law. Now, where are these tokens going? Um, where' I put this? I put it over here.
Okay.
All right. We get to recruit law because uh that's what we unlocked. So, let me go find law over here. Where did I put Law? I feel I had Law here a second ago. Oh, I put them on four.
Trafficer Law. Okay, I'll go ahead and take him. Uh, and now I have this one over here. Plus two plus two plus zero. I'm going to move my goals a little bit out of the way.
Okay. And I think that's my whole turn for him.
Okay. But now because we completed act one and act two, we are going to now reveal this summon boss queen. So we now need to find the special boss for queen. Uh which is over here. 15 health. So slightly harder. Uh we're going to put someone into Udon over there. Place Kid Shogi's tile in prison. Okay, we need to find Kid Shogi in a second over here. Kid shogi. Oh, speaking of which, I need to get tropical laws token as well. And Kit Shogi is not one of these. Oh, kid shogi. Okay, so we're going to place the tile in prison. So, we're going to move this out of the way and put a tile in prison. We also have uh tropical law. I need to find my token for this.
That is him over here. All right. And then uh we need to the player that helps kid escape recruits him. break all characters out of prison and defeat queen to complete Udon. So we now we need to do a prison break which involves a stash action over here and we need to defeat queen and that's going to complete the Udon task which is going to be the completion of act one.
Yikes.
Are we ready? Oh, I guess we have three characters left to do things and we now have a character in prison.
So if that's the case, a stash action and three swords is plenty. We need to generate swords or we can have her move H. But we also need to defeat the queen. So, I think it's time to move things in. So, we're going to move um we're going to move uh Monkey Duffy into this region. Monkey Duffy is going to immediately kill one of these because of using Froo's ability. Uh and that's going to put another quest marker onto Udon. So, now Udon's complete. That's two regions complete. Uh then we have two actions over here with our various characters. We could uh we could go defend. I don't think I think we're going to do lore. So, we're going to generate Oh, no. We're going to do attacking. So, I guess we'll do a defend action to kill this character over here. And then we're going to do a produce action to generate a sword because we'll need swords in that region. Can we get a sword there?
Yes.
Cuz that the swords are going to help us do a prison break. And then we're going to do an attack action supported by two characters. So, we're going to do one, two, three over here. And this one over here is four, five. So, doing a five dice attack action
plus your other
plus my captain die. We're going to roll these over here. And we also have food in the region if we need to spend it to make these successes. So, we got 1 2 3 4 5 six seven. That was an incredible roll. So, we got seven successes over there, which is going to drop her from 15 down to eight.
I believe that's a critical and you get to double it.
That is exactly how it works. Yes. Yes. It's not. All right. That's my turn. You can take I still have Otama, but you can take a turn first.
Okay.
Up to you.
I will.
I think I'm just moving in and attacking. So, it's I
go first.
Yeah. Yeah, it feels anticlimactic cuz I feel like I'm not going to be able to help that much.
She still has eight damage.
I know. All right, so I'll move in.
Oh, I apologize. I apologize.
I apologize.
Big deal.
Big deal.
Each player puts a character in prison.
The player with Luffy must choose Luffy. That's an arrival ability.
So, I couldn't have done anything that I just did. This is a big deal.
It could be anyone.
We're going to go back to 15. I'm going to undo my turn entirely. We're going to put that pirate back. Both these pirates are going to go back here. We're going to move back over here. Sorry for the little bit of retcon there. Um, so I have to choose Luffy and put Luffy in prison. So Luff is going to pop down here. So you can choose any character.
It could even be a crew.
I believe it could be. It doesn't specify that has to be a crew mates are characters. So I believe you could do a crew mate.
Okay.
And there's a global rule. When Samurs are destroyed right now, they turn into pirates.
All right. Now that we've undid that turn. Yeah, I knew this was happening. Remember I said prepare for things to be crazy?
Yeah.
And then I forgot.
How do we get them out of prison?
So, a prison has two options. You can take a stash action here with two lore and three swords, and then you do an escape, a single escape of one character. Or you can do a stash action with five lore and 10 samurai, but then you do a full prison break and everyone gets out. So, we can either build up a bunch of samurai and take a stash action, or we can do a bunch of minor escape actions one at a time.
Do we have to have them on that spot, too?
Uh, yes. They have to be on Udon. Who knows where the prison is.
Sam samurai there.
Um, well, first of all, I have to go turn Luffy face down to Oh, that's not face down. That's ability. We're gonna put Luffy off to the side. Uh, you can produce samurai there.
Yeah.
Also, fun fact, I think one of the characters lets you move samurai if I recall correctly.
Okay, cool.
That is cool. You can move samurai on the board, which is very flexible. That's not what we have right now. So, I'm going to completely redo that turn. We're going to move in here with her. She's going to kill one. Uh, same same concept. So, we're going to have
Do you want me to have saved you?
Saved me. How?
You're still good.
Swords. You're still good.
I could just pop you out and you can
Absolutely. That's fair. So can I technically, but I'm going to I'm going to do my attack. So I'm going to then use um I guess I'll use a stash action with him. Not a stash action. Yeah, I guess a stash action. Do we have swords? Yeah, I will take these two swords with me from that region. That way we have the swords in there. Um doing a and I have the inventory space for it. Then we're going to do a stash action which will be our two two lore. Can you spend two lore? Going down to one unfortunately. And then I'll break Luffy out. That way, Luffy will get a turn. Uh, the stash, by the way, means we still spend these, putting them on this board over here. Okay.
Uh, and that's gonna be three swords over there. And now, Luffy is broken out of prison. Okay.
Uh, and then we are going to take our uh defend action to kill that one person over here. And then lastly, we are going to take our attack action with her. She's going to roll plus zero, but plus two from here. So, she's going to roll a total of three dice, captain die, and two more to attack queen. One, two, three. Not nearly as cool as the seven that I did, but that was also cheating.
Okay,
but you broke him for free. I said we just take that turn.
I say we don't. I say we don't.
I think we should be penalized for forgetting how to read cards.
Uh, your turn.
Why should I be penalized?
I mean, Luffy, could go if you want or you can go.
Uh, either way,
I say go first. Take your turn. So he will go and pretty much now like we just need to attack, right? Like
we need to break everyone out of prison or Yeah. break all characters out of prison and defeat queen. And that completes act one.
Okay. So I'll take those three swords down to here with me.
Okay. So you're grabbing these swords. You have the inventory space for them. So 1 2 3 pop down here.
Yep.
Okay. So we'll do that. And then
Well, I'm not I'm not doing that though. So I'm just dropping,
which also means 1 2 3 4 5 6. I don't know if I'm going to take the
action. Okay, gotcha.
I just wanted to take them with me cuz I'm going to Yeah, I'm going to defend, but I want to be backed up. I mean, I'm sorry. I'm going to attack, but I want to be backed up. So, I'm going to take the boss action. Oh, yeah. And I only have one person. I only have one guy. So, I guess we'll produce a sword there.
Okay.
Okay. And now I'm going to roll. So,
Sounds good.
Uh, you have the thing over there.
I do indeed. But I'm rolling three dice plus the person dice. So, let's see. We're going to add one more.
Oh,
that's also a good roll.
That was a pretty cool vote.
Five damage down to seven.
Five damage. And that's my whole thing.
Beautiful. Uh, Luffy's turn. Luffy's going to take
Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
Not Luffy's turn. Whenever your captain rolls a critical, captain die rolls a critical, which I believe red scabbard. I think we should do joy.
I agree.
Okay.
Bing bing bing.
Amazing.
Okay,
that was pretty cool.
Uh to me, I will take Luffy's turn. Luffy will attack because that just makes sense. Uh we are going to go ahead and roll our one. We're go let's do all these over here. So, we're going to have these guys here. I guess we'll put him we'll put him in produce and we'll put him in lore generation cuz we need lore generation. Can we pop up two lore? because we actually don't have enough lord to this otherwise. So yeah, so I did lure generation over here and with this person who has plus two on attacking. So we have four dice total plus attack action is going to be instead of a move I didn't even read his ability. Instead of a move on your turn, you may switch places with all samurai or pirates in another region. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. It's too little too late. I think I could have done a prison break. All right. Uh we got one, two, three. So only three damage down to four over here. So we're down to four, which is fine. Not Oh, wait, wait. I have food. I'm going to spend two more food to make those successes using Luffy's ability. So he's down to two.
Amazing.
Okay.
So close.
So close. Uh, and that was my turn.
Okay, I believe that's the round.
Did you spend you both? Oh, you did do both.
Oh.
Oh, okay. Fine. Okay, let's see how this plays out. So, we're going to the following. We got to the end phase. Each pirate reduces the joy meter by one. That's this pirate over here. Reduces the joy meter by one here as well.
Oh no, this one's going to kill a samurai, which is going to turn into a pirate because of the ability because we have her ability. If every samurai story turn into a pirate and then we're going to go ahead and lose a joy because there is a boss on the board as well. You always do one joy for a boss. Uh it doesn't matter how many bosses there are. Um if there's any bosses, you lose one joy. Okay, that is that which means we now move to the starting range. We're going to roll these dice over here. We now have all these dice. Got five dice slowly entering our collective. All right, we got two on the lore meter. Kaido drinks. No action. And then we have four, three, two, two, three, four, five, six. We got our straight. So two, three, four, five, and six.
Goodness.
All right. And then it is uh back to our turn. Are you ready?
Mhm.
All right. I think we have we need more lore. I think I will go ahead. I guess we may as well kill kill the boss probably. All right. So, I'll take a turn with um Otama over here. We're going to start by generating two lore. Can we have two lore, please? And then I'm going to generate swords over here so we can get all of our We're going to take a We're going to go down to I guess we'll do a recruit action to pop a samurai to play because why not? Oh, no. I guess yeah, I guess we'll do I guess we'll do a recruit. We'll pop a samurai to play. Great. Then I will spend a food because that's her ability to convert this one into a samurai as well. Okay, that's her ability there. That's going to put a action marker on her. She's now done that three times. Uh then she's going to put her action to produce. So she's going to be trying to produce swords. So we have more swords in that region. Um and then she's going to
We don't necessarily have to.
True, but I don't think it's fine. I think it's fine what we're doing. Uh so she's going to generate a bunch of swords. She's going to roll two dice plus one over here uh for him. So, three dice total plus her captain die.
Okay.
And just generate a bunch of swords. So, that's going to be three swords in the region if you don't mind.
Um and then she is going to uh go a wandering. I probably should have done something else with him. It's fine. Uh we're going to go a wandering and we're going to pop up over here. I think we'll pop up over here. That's going to kill this guy from the flower capital using uh Brook's ability. So, we're gonna get another token on over here on the flower capital. Great. Done. That was That was her turn.
Okay. Do you want to do your other turn cuz then I can figure out the
Sure. So, I will go ahead and attack with Luffy. So, we're going to go ahead and generate two lore uh again. So, let's go ahead and generate two lore.
Okay.
Cuz I think I think a basic attack is fine. I think two dice is totally fine. Yeah, it should still be fine. Then, I'm going to go ahead and generate a stash action. So, I'm going to pay two lore. So, go down two lore, I guess. Mhm.
Spend those three swords and we're going to put them this time on uh we'll put them on stone.
Oh. Oh, cuz you didn't do it that time. That's right. I forgot. All right. And that's going to be a marker. We now get an extra bonus action.
Um and then I'm going to That was a stash action. We spent the thingies. We did the two lore. Do you want to lure?
Yes.
Okay. Then Luffy's going to take a action supported by two dice.
Wait. And we escape someone.
Well, oh yes, that's true.
I assume we take my person.
Yeah, sure. Okay. And we're going to roll the dice. And we got one, two, which is enough to kill queen. Gain a red scabbard at random. You want to draw the top red scabbard. And we got any resource triggered three times.
And this is supposed to like connect.
It's supposed to It just goes around the corner just like Yeah, you're just building a nine a 3x3 grid. All right. And we got any resource three times. I'll go ahead and generate three swords if we want to do that. Uh we can put these back in play now that we've completed her. One, two, three. And then it's your turn.
Okay.
Oh, wait, wait, wait. Sorry. I apologize. Not yet your turn because Luffy can still move. Um, and Luffy will move because it's going to kill pirates. So basically, Luff is going to pop this way and that's going to automatically kill.
I have them.
Luffy's going to pop this way and automatically kill a pirate using his ability, which means another spot on KBI is done. So KBI is done now. We're almost done with Brook slowly powering up. All right, and your turn. Okay. So, we still have to break him out.
Yep. And then act one's complete.
Okay. All right. So, what about the samurai? What about the the pirates?
Well, we can still take them out. Meaning, so this is where this is where there's a full game arc. There is a save mode after each arc if you want or you play through the entire arc in one sitting. The entire arc could be a two and a half to three and a half hour long game depending on the players at the table. So, it does have a save mode in between. So, we could we could and should play strategically before we finish off the act, but ultimately once the act is complete, then we're done for now.
Okay. So, I'm going to use him first and I'm going to produce.
So, I'm rolling three dice for him plus another one here. Okay. So, that would be four. And we'll do four food cuz that basically just means that with his ability he can now deal four damage like to these guys to take out four of them. So they're gone.
Beautiful.
So that was that. This guy is going to give us two lore and then I will move to here and she is going to
stash
stash. It's going to be spend two lore. Put these three on the next character who needs swords
and um
and break free.
Yeah. And like technically he has a turn.
Yeah. Well, we can finish off the round. We should finish off the round cuz why not?
Okay. So, that ends there. And now for his turn, I'm going to um let's do this and this and this.
Okay.
So, we will move him to over here.
Beautiful.
We're going to defend. So you can knock one out of there. We're also recruiting with a assistant thing. So it's just a regular. But then we will uh discover. So just bump that lure up even more. And I'm actually rolling. Wow. For the first time ever, I think in this game, we're rolling six dice plus the thing.
Wow. Oh, there we go. It's
five discover. So we got five lore. Okay.
And also grab a petal.
Oh, yes. Oh, I hope it's not going to be a bad one. I never got to draw one. How about you draw one pedal?
Uh, gain a red scabbard or so. Or three joy.
We want the three joy. Correct.
Go for it. It's actually going to allow us to recruit a character, I believe.
Do I flip this?
Uh, you don't flip that. You look over here. Recruit a starting character.
Okay.
So, we both are getting uh him as well as a new starting character. I think at that point though at the end of the round we're going to lose two joy because of the two um unstructured pirates. Uh and that's where we leave off.
I couldn't get to them.
That is the conclusion of act one. Now normally at this point you would play through the continuation of act two. Uh these characters done over here. Luffy has upgraded. His ability is done over here. So we're going to uh flip this over. Uh he now is stronger dealing four dice on attack. He's incredibly strong in attack in that region plus an upgraded ability. We would now reveal the act two story missions over here. Uh, and then this over here says, "Begin act two, power up Luffy, reveal act two." That's the actions there. These two are now revealed. We need 20 lore, seven samurai, 20 lore, and five pedals. Before that, we then reveal this. Uh, along the way, if at any point we run out of pirate, we'll proceed directly to the endame where you have a giant boss encounter where you are facing off against a boss that has 200 health as well as a whole bunch of other bosses that are in the way with a whole bunch of health of their own. This is where you will need powered up actions with all your crew. Having three crew members plus your bosses plus your captains taking actions is incredibly impactful when you're trying to deal 200 damage to a boss.
Anyways, that is basically a gameplay of our starting gameplay of uh One Piece Dawn of Liberation. We will have a link to the crowdfunding campaign down below. Uh but if you want to see more of the general overview how this game plays or what the boss encounter looks like, uh you can go and check out the preview done by me over on the channel. Until next time, I'm Alex Rad from Board Gameco.
I'm Professor Mag.
And have a good one.
Bye.
