Let's check out the new game Mood Swings.

Let's do it.

We each get five cards from the same deck. You can play one mood per round. The dice in the top right indicates mood's value.

Add up your mood's values after each round. First to three out of five wins the game. When was the last time you felt ambivalence?

Mhm, I don't know.

That counts.

Okay.

Yeah, you're going first.

card I'll play is tranquility. And while it's in play, this mood's value is six if I have an odd number of moods including this one, which I do.

Pretty good. I can't really compete with that just yet, but we're going to set up for some triumphs. Right now it's three, but if I went first in the round, it's five.

All right, I will win round one and get one point.

Absolutely. You go first, but I draw a card.

Aha. Okay, round two. I'll play condescension and I'll choose to not give you a card, so it's value is going to remain at three.

But now you have an even number of moods.

That's right. So my tranquility is also now three. My total value is still six.

Well, I think I need to be going first, so I'm going to play indifference, which is just worth four. Importantly, that puts me to seven, so I win this round. I get a point, but you draw a card.

All right.

And now because I won the last round, I go first, which means my triumph is worth five.

Ooh.

Jimmy, you didn't want to give me a card last round, but I would like to compel you to with compulsion.

Choose another player, that's you. That player chooses a card from their hand and gives it to me.

Oh, no. All right, Rachel, I'm going to give you generosity.

Oh, so generous. All right, your turn.

Okay, I'm going to kick it off with hope, which allows me to play an additional mood during each of my turns. I'm going to play betrayal, which means I'm going to gift you condescension for one round. But that's also going to flip my tranquility, which is going to put me to 12.

Pretty good, but I'm at 15, so I win this one as well.

Yep. All right, new round. I'm going to draw a card and take my condescension back. So that flip my tranquility back to three.

I'm still going first, so I keep triumph at five. I'm going to play spite, and I'm going to choose you, and I'm going to put one of your moods with an even value into the discard pile. I'll choose betrayal.

No.

All right, I'll discard that and tranquility flips once again. I'm going to play self-loathing and put my hope into the discard pile.

You're still odd. Very nice.

and now I now have 15.

Oh, that's more than me. So, you win this round?

All right, two to two.

All right, this one's for all the marbles. You're going first, Jimmy. Which means my triumph is only worth three.

I'm actually going to not play a card cuz if I do, I have to take two of my cards back. So, that's going to ruin my board and I won't do it.

Yeah, you don't have to play a card. I am going to play bravado. And when I play this card, I will discard my spite so I can play an additional mood. And Jimmy, thank you so much for your generosity.

No!

So, I go to 19, which beats your 15.

I was too generous

and it I do I do regret that.

All right, pretty fun. I go to three points, which means I win this one.

Good game. We've been having a ton of fun with this game at the office. Pick up your copy on Secret Lair.
