Do You Want To Game With Me?! Come To The Level Up Retreat!!!

00 so I have a very important question for you do you want to come play a game with me like in real life I'm being actually serious because if you want to come play a game with me I am actually going to be going to the level up Retreat that's going to be taking place on the end of January in Woodbridge New Jersey so let's chat about it real quick hello everybody Welcome Back to the channel today my name is kly and today we're just talking all about the level up Retreat if you have no idea what I'm talking about the level up Retreat is quite just like that it's a retreat it's a it's a place where Gamers can gather together for 3 days and basically just play games sorry Beckham's grabbing my computer don't touch your computer don't do it being in the board game Space there are so many different conventions and really huge ones like Gen Con and all of like and um Essen there's just these big old conventions that are all about buying games or seeing upcoming titles the level up Retreat is different it's definitely one of those Retreats where you just come show up a big board game library and you can sit down and play and the great thing about the level up Retreat is that it's actually hosted by board game Co um if if you're not following him not familiar with Alex's Channel please please please go follow him he's amazing I will make sure to link all of his information in the description below for this video but he's the one that primarily runs and hosts this Retreat and there are lots of other content creators who typically go to these events and so it's a really fun experience for even for me like to meet other content creators that I admire me

30 um I know the very first time that I went to the level up Retreat I was able to meet like Amy and Maggie from thinker themer I was able to meet Janna from board game Garden I was able to meet Professor Meg and Alex and um like so so many amazing content creators um on that trip and so I am really looking forward to just again being able to go and sit down and play games with people I know people I follow and then obviously make new friends as well so very briefly let's kind of jump into what's actually going to be happening at the level up Retreat so um it's taking place from January 31st to February 2nd at the Delta hotels by Marriott in Woodbridge New Jersey um me and Kim will both be attending this event which we are really excited about we probably won't be able to get there until January after or January 31st in the afternoon but then we'll be staying through um until Sunday and what is actually going to be happening is primarily what's what you're going to be doing is there's just a big room full of open gaming this is a really great experience a great way to get be able to play games because sometimes like people in this hobby it's a struggle even just to play games or find groups in order to play games and sometimes some people only this is like their only outlet that they have in order to actually play the games that they know and they love they will have a big board game Library um so lots of games that are that will that you will be able to um have access to which is really nice you don't have to be bringing a bunch of games even though you can't bring games if you want to but they will have the library there

01 something that I kind of wanted to mention about gaming um is because when I first went to a convention uh it was the level up convention actually was or the level up retreat was actually my first kind of convention that I went to and I remember being so nervous cuz I went by myself like I didn't know anybody I just went in being like I hope I can make friends like I'm very like I was like oh I don't know I guess I'll just go in and try my best but something that they do which really makes it not not as nerve-wracking as you might think is because if you did happen to by yourself to this event and you selected a game well there's actually little flags that you can grab from and you can go down sit down open up the game and you can have a flag on the table there's two different at least when I went there was two different flags one indicating that you request a teacher so if there's anybody else in the room that happens to know this game they could see that flag come by and help teach you the game so you don't have to read from the rle book yourself or there's another flag requesting more players so if you sat down by yourself and you need more People Help play the game you just throw up throw up a tag and or throw up a flag and it really is so great cuz the entire convention really yes you are playing games but you're also kind of paying attention to other tables that might need your help or where you can go to help assist people or help kind of fill in a spot at a game and when you first play a game you really don't know a lot of people right but then when you're done with that game you walk away from that table already knowing like four people and then you grab another game and you go to another table table and then you walk away from that table and now you know eight people and by the end

33 of your first day going into your second day you already know a decent amount of people that are attending this event and you just get more and more comfortable with with with everybody as time goes on and you really walk away with great friendships from these type of these type of events and especially because this is more of like a localized event um I'm sure maybe some people from pretty far away are traveling but most most of the people are probably going to be around the New England um or kind of Northern Area um around New Jersey I personally made friends of the last level up that I'm still friends with today and we'll still get together and game um occasionally so I think that's my favorite part of these conventions is yes it's fun to play games but it's so fun to sit down and make those connections like you really don't get that opportunity to do that very often um so that's kind of like the main thing that's happening is come and play games um there is also a vendor haul I know the vendor Haul is going it's not like I said don't be going to this expecting packs it's not packs um but there will be a a vendor haul where you can um maybe purchase um a few things um there's also going to be a tabletop miniature room where you can like paint learn how to paint Miniatures um and I I think there actually will be demo games there as well um and then there's also going to be a big like Dungeons and Dragons room which I know some people are so into that um so they're going to be definitely doing D and D things um let's quickly kind of go over and just talk about who has anticipated being

03 there so obviously Alex from board game Co um Professor Meg should be there I assume um Chris and George from room and Boards Jason so easy cat um the the um Dragon tomb Tim Riley obviously me Grant lion Jeremy Howard Jenna Beasley um board game Dave Adam singer beex Jeff and Jamie I mean like so many so many great content creators um are planning on attending this event and it is again it's just such a fun opportunity to um sit down and play games with the people who you admire and follow something else that they're going to be doing which is really cool they did it at the last level up event but it's the play to win tournaments so basically there are a bunch of games that they're just going to be giving away and all you have to do to enter is literally check out and play the game and then you're entered into into the the random drawing for that game most of those games don't get checked out very often so if you go through and check out every single one of those games most I mean you have a really good chance of walking away and winning oh Beck that's so loud don't do that no um so you really do kind of walk away um from lots of those games and you really have a really good shot of actually winning them and being able to bring those games home there's a hot games area so the all of the really hot titles that you might be kind of hard to either purchase or they're really expensive and you really want to try them before kind of putting up the money for them that was like like something that I loved of the level up retreat was I had a list of really popular games

34 that I didn't want to shout out the money for quite yet I really wanted to try them before purchasing so I was able to go play all the games that I wanted to and then I walked away from that convention being okay I'm going to skip on this game I really want this one and this one um so that's another kind of great thing about these events is it gives you that opportunity there's um going to be some tournaments um a variety of gaming tournaments dungeons Dungeons and Dragons um painting and a gaming Library so it's just it's honestly just a really fun event that um we'll be attending so if you really want to come play a game with us please come to this event we would love to game with you and again this is taking place on January 31st through February 2nd um at the Delta at the Delta hotel by Marriott in Woodbridge New Jersey so come if you can we would love to meet you thank you so much for watching this video today and we'll see you in New Jersey
