The Road to Oz - Deck building twist to Oz.
in the land of O can you be the first to travel to the Emerald City in the road to O and today we'll show you a quick how to play or overview of the road to O and hello everyone it's Stella and Taran here from mle University all right let's get to the classroom the road to Oz is a pile building card game in which players race to travel across the land of Oz it was designed by Jeremy Hawker and published by argon media the game plays two to four players and is of light to medium complexity in the road to Oz players try to assemble a party of characters to lead them through their travels to the Emerald City to begin each player has a shuffle deck of country cards and a party of four starter cards representing the well-known Heroes of the wonderful Wizard of Oz these cards are the beginnings of piles and through the game players will add new cards from the common decks in the fields into those piles at any time the card on top of a party pile is its leader and all other cards are supporters to begin a turn the player flips all leaders over to their active sides the main aim is to complete the active country card and this is done by exceeding the card's travel points requirement using the travel points visible on the four leader cards this onepoint card for example requires five blue blue and five yellow travel points my leaders have a total of five blue and six yellow so this would be achieved at most one country card may be completed each turn achieving your country cards requires careful manipulation of your piles by flipping and using the once per turn leader skills skills include simply adding more travel points or recruiting a new car as a leader from the field searching or reshuffling the decks letting you move the top card to the bottom in search for something better switching which gives you the flexibility to exchange a leader with a supporter within its own pile they may let you trash cards removing cards from your party permanently to gain some other effect and many more each country card you complete reveals an all new combination of travel points so you'll need to keep looking for the most flexible strategy to adapt to your new objectives if for whatever reason your strategy stalls you may also spend your entire turn to resolve your country card special effect and then discard it to the bottom of its deck the further you've traveled the stronger you'll get because your number of travel points determines the number of emeralds you currently have your emeralds determine the strength of advanced card which you can recruit the game is a race and the first player to score 13 travel points will be the winner the road to Oz offers a new and unique twist to the deck building genre players having to actively manage the card order within individual piles rather than build a pool and rely on the luck of gaining the right resources at the right time certain cards allow for interfering directly with your opponents or disrupting the field to keep them away from the cards they want meaning The Runaway leader can always still be caught quick to learn and play the road to Oz provides a thinky puzzle and race unlike any other and that's our quick how to play of the road to O we are using a prototype copy of the game so the rules and components may not be final and do check out the project page for the game we'll put a link to that in the description below and thanks so much for watching your like and comments are much appreciated subscribe to see what's coming and have a wonderful day see you next time
