Civolution Expansion: Acceptance Letter - How to Play
Hi, my name is Paul Groen and in this video I'm going to be telling you all about the expansion to Civolution. Acceptance Letter is an expansion to Civolution which was originally published in 2024. It contains three mini expansions that you may add individually or in any combination to your game. There are starting attribute chips giving every civilization a unique starting benefit.
There are new level four modules allowing you to upgrade your actions even more. And there are creatures which can be captured, tamed, and then fed resources for additional benefits. A big thank you to Deeprint Games for sponsoring this video, but I also rely on the financial support of my Patreon campaign to keep the channel going.
So, if you want to support me directly, you can do so by becoming one of my supporters at patreon.com/gamingrulesules. To play with the starting attribute chips, set up the game as normal, but then before preparing the starting chip cards, shuffle these new chips together. Then, if playing with new players, each player just gets one of these at random.
If everyone is experienced with the game, you place a random starting attribute chip above each starting chip card when creating the offer. These are then chosen by the players in reverse turn order as before. You must then install your starting attribute chip into your console as normal. This locks that column to attribute chips and of course income chips.
Finally, each player gains the starting benefit of their chip, which are all fully explained in the rule book. Each of the 15 modules now has a new powerful level four version. To play with these, at the end of setup, shuffle the 15 new modules together and draw three per player, displaying them face up.
Then, beginning with the starting player and going clockwise, each player takes a tile of their choice. Next, beginning with the last player and going counterclockwise, each player takes a second tile. And finally, again, starting with the starting player and going clockwise, each player chooses a third tile.
Place all of the tiles that you took next to your console. Then, choose one of them and upgrade the corresponding module once. So, here you could choose trade and immediately upgrade your trade module to level two. During the game, you may upgrade a level three module to a level four module in the normal way.
All of the new modules are fully explained in the rule book. This expansion contains six cute creatures which can be captured, tamed, and fed. In setup, shuffle the creatures and place them in a faceown stack near the hunting table. Then reveal the top tile and place it face up next to the stack. During the game, whenever you perform a hunt, if the terrain you are hunting in matches the terrain of the creature, there is a chance that you will manage to tame the creature.
And this is done in addition to gaining the food as usual. To determine if you tamed the creature, compare the value of the die that you chose to use for hunting and compare it to the position of your disc on the favor track. If the die is within the range printed, you've successfully tamed the creature.
If you do, take the chip and replace it with the next one from the stack. Insert the creature that you tamed into your console as normal. Creature chips are a completely new type of chip, and once you place one into a column, that column becomes locked to creature chips and income chips. As an immediate bonus for taming the creature, you get to perform a lucky find in the terrain of the creature.
Following the normal rules, in addition to having another chip in your console, each tamed creature gives you a bonus during the feeding phase. You may feed your creature up to three stored materials that correspond to the creature's terrain. For example, you have tamed this cute fella whose terrain is hills.
You can feed it any combination of cotton, clay, and brimstone. If you feed it only once, you gain two ideas. If you feed it twice, you gain the two ideas and also three points. And if you feed it three times, you gain two ideas, three points, and you advance two steps on the depicted progress track.
After feeding is over, return all of the markers on the creature back to your supply. I hope you found this video useful in learning how to play the expansion force evolution.
