Spots | Solo Playthrough
Hi everybody and welcome to a new solo playthrough video. Today we're going to be playing Spots. Now this is a game I've seen on social media a lot. People have been enjoying this game, they're loving it. It's fun and quick. Um it's a push your luck dice game, but nobody told me that this had a solo mode.
I did not know. So I'm very excited that I found out that it has a solo mode and of course today I'll show you how to play. Let's go. Well, this is the setup. Um there's many of these tiles that come with the game. So there's a lot of replayability. This is the like recommended setup for a first playthrough.
Um once you get familiar with the game you can switch out some of these and the rulebook even has suggestions uh for which ones to swap out first. Um so that's really helpful. We are going to take the top two dogs from the pile. So these are our two starting dogs. We have Eloise and Zipper. Uh we're playing against an AI and the AI is going to start with one treat.
I'm going to put that over here to show that. Um and the it's basically a race uh to whoever gets six dogs completed first. Um and the AI is not really going to complete dogs um in a certain way. I'll get to that. We first roll one dice. Um well, I wonder cuz that's to determine who the first player is in the multiplayer.
But I think we'll do it anyways cuz we have to put one dice in our little dog house in our yard. Um and um if you have a total amount of seven more than seven uh dice totaled up, so not the amount of dice, but the amount of So this would be four. Um if it exceeds seven, so seven is fine, eight is a bust, you have to like reset your whole game.
Um which is awful and we don't want that to happen at all. Now treats are used for rerolls, so those are very very useful. Um but yeah, let's just start the game. So when you play, you choose one of these tricks. They're called tricks. Um and you can just do whichever one. So let's for example decide that we're going to run.
So I'm going to flip this over to show that I'm choosing this um action. Uh so other players then have to choose a different one. So uh in the multiplayer it like cycles through these and you flip them again. Yeah. So we roll three dice and that's what we're going to do first. All right, this is good for us.
So I have two fives which Oh no, I thought it was two fives on Zipper there. This is not great because now we have seven that can't go on my they can't both can't go on the dogs. So they have to be buried in my yard. So now I have eight which means I bust. So everything goes away. So it does clear your yard, which is good, but it also removes all the dice from the dogs that you have, which right now wasn't that bad, but you could just have like you could be missing one dice and you'll have to like remove everything which is the worst.
Okay. We're now going to roll one dice for the AI. A four. So we're going to So this is going to be 1 2 3 4 5 6. Four is this one, so we're going to flip that one over. If the AI rolls a number of a trick that's already been flipped, they get a dog card immediately, like a completed one. So that's going to go really quick.
I don't think I'm going to be very good at defeating the AI. We'll see how it goes. All right, let's try that again. So let's walk this time, which is a bit a bit easier. Um Okay, a one and a five, so we can place both of those. And now I'm allowed to roll one more die. A four. That's good. Ooh, let's put it on Eloise cuz she's then completed and we can decide to spend a turn to complete her.
You need to spend a turn to do that unless you complete every single dog in your turn, then you get like a bonus and you can complete them straight away. But now I would have to spend a turn to complete Eloise. Um all right, the AI is going to go two. All right, so we can either roll eight dice, which is a safe one because you choose one number um and then bury those.
But I don't really like that too too much. We could try. I mean roll all your berry dice. I don't have any. So then I'd only get to roll one dice, which could also be pretty bad. Let's do fetch. And we're just going to roll eight dice. So we choose a number after we roll and that's the number that we pick and you have to then take all the dice of that number and place them and the rest gets discarded.
Okay, let's see how we do. Okay, well, we have sixes threes Oh, this is pretty good. I could do Oh, well, the six is bad. I'm just going to take this one four and place it. That's good and then we can discard the rest. It's now the AI's turn, but we only have one trick left. Which when that happens, we place a treat on that trick and then we flip everything.
So we could get an extra uh treat if we wanted to. But it all depends first on what the AI is going to roll. One. Okay, so they get that treat and we flip this over. Now because they get two treats, they have to they will um exchange those for one dog. So they currently have one dog, Nutmeg, completed.
So we're going to I could spend my turn to complete Eloise. I kind of want to try to get both of them in one turn, which is more lucrative, so to say, but it's going to be so hard to do that without dying. Um >> [snorts] >> You know what I'm saying? Cuz I have nothing to like reroll. I don't have any treats.
Um so what I think I might do is I'm just going to take my turn to complete Eloise. We're playing it safe. I'm just going to put her um underneath the dog house. Well, that's so sad. I'll put her off to the side. You won't see her though, but that's okay. And because we do that, we get to take the first card um to like refill our hand, so to say.
All right, so that's our turn done. The AI is going to go five. All right, what I'm going to do is I'm just going to do this. I'm going to take one treat and I can then take one more treat for each of the dogs with a little paw. And now I have two of those. So now I have a bit more opportunity to play it safe which could be good.
Six. Okay, I'm lucky with the dice rolls for the AI so far, which is nice. Okay, let's walk. So we're going to roll two dice. Double sixes, damn. >> [clears throat] >> So the thing is if I want to reroll this, I have to reroll everything. I can't take one six and be like, well, that's great and reroll that dice.
No. I can reroll, but I have to reroll the whole roll. So we're going to do that because I don't want to put a six in my in my dog house right now. Okay, a three and a four, that's better. Um well, I thought that was better. We're going to put the four there and we're just going to put the three in my yard and then I can roll one more die.
Well, whoops. Damn it. I guess I'll reroll that then. Better. Okay, good. All right, so that's me done. Um we have one left, so we flip everything. A three. Okay, what are we going to do? A two and a six. >> [sighs] >> I could just do this. That could be a good one to play it safe. Reroll my berry die.
And then I can roll one more. Well, you know, that is better. So let's just put that one in the dog house cuz that's a good one to just have there. >> [snorts] >> We're rerolling that. Please. God damn it. Okay. Well, that did not work out great for me. This is the AI four. Okay. Well, it's also not good for me.
>> [snorts] >> Okay, let's do howl. So, we get that treat. I get to draw a dog. Um so, we have some more options. And then I get to roll uh one dice. One die. A one. This is wonderful. Okay. We're still safe, though. Three. Um which is this one. So, they get a dog. Second dog for them. And now it's my turn.
God, these are both bad for me. We do have some more options now. Let's just risk it for the biscuit. This is tricky, though. This is This is dangerous what I'm doing. This could go really bad. I have only one treat. We're going to just do it, you know? Let's push our luck. That is the game we're playing.
So, all right. Oh my god, please. Okay. Okay. Well, not great. Not great. We're going to re-roll that. Oh, this is This is a bad idea. This was a horrible idea. Okay, a three, a two. Three, four, five, six, seven. Okay. Did it. This fine. All right. Okay. We're fine. We're good. We're all good. Nothing We can do this.
We can do it. All right, the AI I a one. No, that's what I want to do. No. Don't do it. Okay, I'm just going to spend my turn to complete this one cuz I'm too stressed to not do that. >> [gasps] >> Oh, boy. A three. Okay. All right. Um let's do Okay, let's just do this one. So, we get two treats. Four.
They get a dog. That's not good. They have three dogs now. Okay, let's Let's roll the eight dice. Cuz we now have two treats as well. So, we can do some re-rolls if we need to. Okay. Okay, four. Ooh, this is good. We're going to take the six. I'll take the six. We can discard the rest. That's good. Okay, the AI a one.
So, they get another dog. No. This is bad. Um and I want to spend my turn to to hand that one in, which is risky. So, let's do this one. Well, no, cuz I have to roll a die. I have to. Some are like, you may roll one die, but I have to roll a die. Oh, but I do get a new dog, but this is dangerous. I'm just going to hand this one in.
Um yeah. Oh, and I forgot to I actually got two dogs cuz I handed two in. So, you get When you When you complete a dog and you put it to the side, you immediately get a new dog. Don't forget that. Okay? I'm forgetting that. A two or six. Hey, nice. So, then this one gets a treat. And [snorts] we can put all of them.
Great stuff. All right, I'm doing that 1,000%. Give me that treat. And we're going to roll three dice. Okay. That's good. One, two. So, no. I should have done that one, of course. I'm an idiot. Okay, wait. I'm going to I'm going to say I'm allowed to do that. Cuz that's That's the best option that I have here.
Okay? We're going to re-roll these. All right. I apologize. Okay. Wow, so many fours. I don't need that many fours. We're going to re-roll that. Fives. Well, I hate that as well. So, Okay. Okay. Okay. Six. Six. Five and a three. I'll take it. And then I can roll I may roll one die, but we're going to do it.
We're going to do it. Perfect. Okay, good. All right. I'm regaining some of my confidence here, which is great. Uh what are we going to do, though? I need a one and I need a four. This is way too risky. Uh we're not going to do that. I'm just going to hand in Rupert. And then we get Bert, which is Bert.
That was so funny. I have four dogs now and the AI has four dogs. So, we're we're tying. Six. They get a treat, though. That's not fun. Um I guess I'm going to roll eight dice to get try to get some ones that we can use. Well, that's one one. Is there also a four? There is one four. Let's take the four.
Um sure. Okay. Three. So, they get a dog. That's not fun. Don't love that. Um So, let let me hand in this one as well. So, I get a new one. Awesome. So, I need one more and they need one more. They could just win right now. Six. Yeah, they win. They win. This one's also so funny. Doug. Look at him. It's like a cow.
It's a cow. How is this a dog? Doug. And he has two paw prints, which is awesome. So, there is more of these cards that let you like do something based on the paw prints that you have. Um let me show you some for fun. That was fun. I hadn't played the solo before. Like, I've played it now for This is my first time playing the solo.
Um but it's so easy when you know the main game, uh the solo is just very easy cuz it's the exact same. The only thing you need to do is roll a die at AI. And that's basically it. Um but there's many of these ones. You may move one die on your dog cards to any other space, changing the number if needed.
That's awesome. To any other space. That's great. And then roll two die. Set aside three to 12 dice. That's crazy. Then roll one of these at a time. You may stop early if you have at least as many paws as dice left to roll. Damn. Okay. So interesting. Roll one die for each of your dog cards that has an unfilled space.
You may repeat this trick as many times as you want. Also crazy. Sprinting. That makes sense. Dog pile. Take two dice plus one more from your buried dice or dog cards. Roll them all. You may repeat this trick as many times as you want. So, there's many of these. Roll three dice. If you spend treats to re-roll the result, you may choose to re-roll only some of the dice.
That's what we That's what I like to see. You know? So, many of these, many different ones. Roll seven dice. If you can, place or bury a set of dice showing a total of exactly eight spots. Discard the rest. That's pretty cool. So, you know, that's all fun and games. Um so, let me know if you've played um Spots, if you've enjoyed it, um if you've played it solo, perhaps, and what you think of the solo.
I think it's pretty cute. Um definitely not a game that I would I think this is more fun multiplayer than solo. But, you know, if it's there, uh it's a cute little solo game, a little bit of dice rolling, which I always enjoy. Um so, yeah, pretty cute game. Let me know your thoughts, and I'll see you guys soon with a new video.
Bye.
