Hey, I'm Alex Radcliffe from Board Game Co. And today, I'm playing through 20 Strong: Tainted Grail from Chip Theory Games. This is part of the new series of 20 Strong, the collaboration that Chip Theory Games is doing with Awaken Realms, where they have Etherfields, Tainted Grail, and Nemesis, three games from Awaken Realms with the 20 Strong system put on top of those to give you all kinds of mashups, mashups of 20 Strong and Awaken Realms. I have reviews for all three of these games. You can go ahead and check them out on the channel. Maybe I'll link them down below if I remember. Otherwise, they're findable. They're definitely findable. Also, this is a prototype. All rules and components are subject to change, and I'll have a link to the crowdfunding campaign down below. Uh but I wanted to play through Tainted Grail because this is my favorite of the bunch. And so, even though like I got all my plays in of the others, I reviewed them, and I was like, you know what? Let's play Tainted Grail again because I like this one quite a bit. So, I will walk you through generally how it works. Uh the general idea though, very very high-level basics, is we have our character. We're playing as D'hana over here. Uh we have her three stat dice at two one health, three strategy, and three recall over here. And then we're going to be facing off against eight encounters. Not eight enemies, so to speak, cuz some enemies have multiple enemies, but eight encounters, so a sequence of one or more enemies is an encounter. Uh each time we do that, we will put an enemy into the uh the menhir pool or whatnot. And then we'll face off against the boss. And we're playing against Wykman over here, who will basically be shielding the other the other uh enemies. The other the other the other characters. He'll be shielding the other monsters I'm facing off against. Past that, let's go ahead and dive into it. So, we have to start by picking We have to start with drawing our hand cards, I guess. Let's go ahead and draw our hand. We have a hand straight out of the straddle three, so

we'll draw three cards. We did get our starting card. You may recover up to two exhausted dice or one banished dice. That's relevant cuz she can banish a die in order to treat an enemy as if it has a line that it does not have, which can be very very fun. Negative one to this enemy's attack. I don't know if I care for that. Like, am I even taking damage from these guys? Like, how how are we playing this out over here? Do I want to take damage? I guess it's not the craziest because if there's a point where we just don't think we'll kill an enemy, at least we can mitigate them. Or even if it's a multiple enemy encounter, that's a good time to do that. But let's go ahead and see what we want over here. All other enemies have plus two health. That's not good to take on with other enemies. So, maybe we just take care of this guy on his own before he gets drawn in some other way. All other enemies have plus two health. Uh so, we can just take him out. Apply one banished die or up to two dice applied to the enemy or another enemy ignoring restrictions. So, that's not bad to have as an item. After suffering damage, do I just want to go ahead and start upgrading? At the start of the engagement, discard two cards from your hand or banish the top card of the combat deck. Well, that's not bad if I want to get rid of this anyway. Uh if this enemy is defeated, gain the Animal Sense combat card. So, can I take him out this early? Well, we have You may recover up to two exhausted die, not relevant. Deal one damage to this enemy if it would be defeated by this damage.

Deal one damage to this enemy if it would be defeated by this damage. It's not going to be defeated by this damage. It's not a final blow. So, none of these cards are particularly helpful right now, and we're on yellow, which means it's going to be very hard to actually hurt them. So, maybe we don't take them out yet. We could go ahead I want to I don't care about health. I probably I probably should care about health, but I don't care about health. So, maybe we'll go ahead and do this guy. Crits applied to this enemy, deal plus one damage. Uh but I can't play any cards to it. Crits applied Oh my gosh. Although, I can treat the enemy as if it has a mo- a node that it doesn't have. None of these cards do I particularly like for the first card. So, with that in mind, uh maybe we'll go ahead. I could do Ignore Pain on the Stakeslinger and just, you know, deal with that. But then I have to discard these two. Recovering a die. Okay, you know what we're going to do? We're just going to go ahead and do it. We're going to go ahead and take on the Stakeslinger. Uh we'll see what happens over here. Uh we are going to then uh apply for our our starting strike phase. Basically, in the strategy phase, the first thing you can do is a strike. We can draw a card or play a card. But over here, at the start of engagement, discard two cards from your hand or banish the top card of the don- of the combat deck. Um Final Blow is not the worst. I have three rolls, uh but I can't even play Final Blow right now. But I could play something else that goes into Final Blow, but I think I'm just going to discard to uh a card over here. So, let's go ahead and discard um these two cards right now. We'll discard these two cards. Uh and then for our strike phase, we'll go ahead and draw a card, I think. Although, yeah, cuz I have turns. I have I have time to play other cards. We're going to draw a card and see what we get. You may apply blue dice to this enemy. That's helpful-ish.

Uh the question is, do I even want to try to roll for yellow? Because rolling for yellow, the way it works is I can only roll the color that's currently here, but I do have two rerolls, which does give me some degree of flexibility. Plus, I can draw other cards, and I can deal one damage now that I got rid of the damage dealing one. So, let's go ahead and um let's go ahead and do this. Let's go ahead and roll. So, we got Wow, that's that's not a great roll. So, that was uh step one. Uh then we'll go ahead. Oh my gosh, I already committed those dice. This is a mistake. This is a horrible mistake. I am going I'm going to regret this, but I think we're going to banish a die. So, we're going to banish this die cuz why not? Um and then we will That's going to Any time you banish a ready die, so I have to do a ready die. These are committed dice. I will banish a green die, uh getting it from the game. Um and that will allow me to treat the enemy as if it has a line that it doesn't have. So, I'm going to go ahead and play this card over here because that allows me to pretend that I have blue dice. And then I'll take two blue dice. I'm committing six dice to the starting enemy. This is going to be uh I'm going to pay for this later. Uh but then again, we also got our six damage over there. So, that's going to be our six, okay? We've got one, two, three, four, five, six cuz we have two crits, which means he's dead. Uh I paid through the nose to do that, but uh he's dead.

These cards are off the side. These dice off the side. These dice are gone as well. Those are exhausted dice. Uh then if an enemy is defeated, gain the Animal Sense combat card. So, let's go ahead and find Animal Sense. This is part of why I lose this game all the time, by the way, because I overcommit early on and then suffer for it later. In the cleanup step, return the combat card to the left discard to your hand. That could be very flexible, especially cuz we do have this, and this does pair up nicely. Uh but we have to pa- take this somewhere. I think we will I think I'm going to get rid of Ignore Pain, actually. So, it's not even going to combo with that. So, we're going to get rid of Ignore Pain. We have Animal Sense in my hand. Uh this card is gone now, and we choose any one card to get rid of. I think we're going to get rid of this card, putting it in the menhir pile. So, that's basically what choosing the enemy that we're going to be facing off against. Well, some of the enemies cuz he's going to add three enemies from the menhir pile at the end of that. That was encounter number one. We are going to rotate this dial over here. And then we're going to go into encounter number two, but first we get to recall dice. We will recall two blue dice and one uh yellow for our refresher over there.

Okay. Next enemy to face off against. Uh this one's also more health. I don't care for the more health. Also, he's not a bad one to throw into the enemy pool. At the end of each strategy phase, either discard one card from your hand or discard one item or Okay, that's that's not great. That's not great, I'll admit. All other enemies have plus two. Apply one banished die or up to two dice applied to the enemy to another enemy ignoring restrictions. At the start of engagement, exhaust all die matching the dial color. So, we'd have to exhaust all greens. So, we could plan around this. We already played our blue dice, unfortunately. So, it's not really a great way to do this right now cuz I do want to That could be useful at the right time. At the start of engagement, exhaust all die matching the dial color. Crits applied to this enemy, deal plus one damage. After suffering damage step, gain the reward of an undefeated enemy.

So, we will go ahead and face off against uh this guy over here. Okay, crits applied to this enemy, deal plus one damage. Okay, we're going to take him. We're going to put him into play. And we're going to see what we can do. So, right now, uh the start of the strat of the st- at the phase, we're going to go ahead and draw a card because applying this will do nothing. Also, right now he has no banners that I can apply to. You may apply green dice to this enemy. That would be useful if we weren't, you know, currently in the green step anyways. So, these cards won't help us. We could apply green dice. Did I banish a green die? I banished a green die. What was I thinking? What was I thinking? This is a mistake. Okay, well, let's go ahead and roll and see what happens. We're going to roll all our green dice, and we got nothing. No no hits, not a single one. Uh so, on the step two, I will go ahead and draw a card.

I think that makes sense. Yeah, I think it makes sense. Okay. You may apply any one committed die to this card. It deals damage to this enemy. Okay, that's potentially useful. Uh but second roll phase over here, we're going to roll, and we got one hit so far. It's not looking good for my ability to take this guy out, and I currently have one health. So, that's not It's really not ideal as far as this. Um You may apply any one committed die to this card. It deals damage to this enemy. Draw one card and strike again. If I did that, that wouldn't work over here. In the cleanup step, return this combat card. I don't think that helps. I don't think it helps. Okay. We are going to go ahead and because I could commit uh You may apply any one committed die to this card. It deals damage to this enemy.

Any one committed die. Because I can add Basically, I can't commit dice to this enemy, but I could commit a die to this card, which means I could add my red to the pool. So, I think we're going to banish a yellow. We're going to use uh D'hana's Any time you banish a ready die to treat an enemy or combat die as if it has a node that it does not have. And I'm going to play this for the third action step. I'm going to play this on on that. Okay, rather than drawing a card, we're going to play this on, pretending it has a node. We're going to do Apply any one committed die to this card, and we're going to roll these over here. We're going to go ahead and roll and see what we get. And we have one, two, three. We actually got overkill. Okay, so we got the crit over here. So, we got five damage to that one, which is good cuz we currently can't survive any health loss. Um and that kills it cuz we're going to apply this to this card, these to that, and again, we don't even need to in this case. Um but it's no no reason not to at this point. Uh Crits applied to this enemy, deal plus one damage. So, we actually have one, two, three, four, five, six at this point.

So, way more than we need. Uh and we can take this card into our inventory. So, we're going to put that card over here. Uh that's going to be that step. These dice are gone. Uh we are going to refresh. This card is going to go away, and we will refresh some dice. We are going to be turning the dial to the next step over here. We do have to add an enemy to the pool. We'll do that in a second. And we'll refresh a red, a yellow, and a green. Okay, that's what we'll refresh over here. All right. Things are going to be not the best over here. Let's choose a card to add to our end of pool. At the start of the engagement, exhaust all die matching the dial color. That's still really not great right now. Um I guess we'll get we'll get rid of this. We'll see what happens. We'll get rid of him entirely. Okay. Then we have the next one at eight. If this enemy is defeated, gain the brutal attack combat card. That is That is a lot. That is a lot to deal with. Uh how good is brutal attack? Deal two damage to this enemy if it would be defeated by this damage.

That's not bad. It's not the best either. So we have craze farmhand. Plus one enemy at the end of each strategy phase, either discard one card from your hand, discard one item, or minus one health. Can't afford to do that. All other enemies return all dice applied to an enemy. Um return all dice applied to an enemy. Plus plus one enemy. All enemies have plus two. Apply one banished die or up to two dice applied to this enemy to another enemy ignoring restrictions. Okay, we're going to take this one. We're going to go ahead and try to deal with her. Okay, it's not going to power up my uh overall arc, uh but it will potentially help me survive another round, which is an important step towards well, getting where I need. Although the truth is I don't have any other enemies that are better for my cards. Not necessarily. I can apply green dice to an enemy, but I need to recall more green dice to that. So we're going to do this one over here. Okay. We are going to tackle them. All other enemies have plus two. There are no other enemies, and so we can ignore that for right now. So we're going to try to do three damage, which should be pretty basic. For the strike phase, we will draw a card because I see no reason not to. Uh we have draw two cards and strike again. This actually does work very nicely for this particular card, um but I don't know if I need to do that. Oh, I could do that into that. That's not bad either. Okay, there's there's there's options. Uh but for right now, I think applying a two blues might be enough. I have three re-rolls, so I can start hoping for a crit. I don't see a reason not to. We can always add a blue on our second roll cuz we have three re-rolls over here. Um and we could that's going to be an effect for later. So let's go ahead and start with two rolls. Or do I want to play a card? No, I drew a card already. I drew a card. Okay, we got two

hits over here, uh but I don't need two hits. I need a crit right now if I'm trying to make this happen. We have four hits on this die, which does give me a decent chance. So I could roll again hoping for that one in six on one of these two two dice. I think from a dice economy standpoint, it makes sense to do so. Um do I care about these cards? I can apply green dice. I think I can play this, which would chain into that, and then bring that back to my hand, but to what end? To what end? Uh gathering more cards doesn't help me right now. I think we'll go ahead and do it though. Okay, we're going to play this. Okay. Um that's going No, no, you know what? We're just going to play this one. No, we're going to draw a card. We're just going to draw a card. Okay. You may adjust the dial to the next color in either direction. You may adjust the dial to the next color in either direction. Okay, that's fun. That's fun. We're going to roll these two again for the second phase, and we got two hits. I think at this point we're going to add a blue uh because I don't want to risk it.

Um and do I roll all the blues again? That seems risky, but there's a one-third chance this can miss. I think I'm just going to go with the fact that this is likely to uh to get a hit. And we have [snorts] a hit. Perfect. Okay, that's going to be three damage, so we're going to kill him. Um and that is Technically I should have played another card right now. That's fine, we're not going to bother. We're just going to go ahead and discard entangling trap. Although entangling trap could be useful, but not right now. Not right now. Uh this guy's dead, and we can add this to our items. Okay. We have apply one banished die or up to two dice applied to this enemy to another enemy ignoring restrictions. Oh, this is right away. Oh, it's right away. That's a mistake. I mean, it's not a mistake. I just forgot to take into account. It would have worked well with another enemy, but whatever. He's gone. Okay, so this is gone, and we choose another card to put onto the boss effect. Add any one card from the combat discard to your hand. That's useful if we kill that. I'm going to get rid of the craze farmhand. Okay, I'm not looking for health. I'm looking for those things. There we go.

These dice go away, and we are going to advance to purple, but again, I actually could uh recall some dice. So we are going to recall some blue dice back over here. Okay. That gives me some flexibility, and then we'll go to if this enemy is defeated, gain the brutal attack combat card. I think this is the time to do this enemy. So we're going to add Manaphy over here. It's called Manaphy Manaphy. Uh we're going to We can draw two cards and strike again, which is not a bad thing. I think that's not bad. Let's go ahead and play this over here. So we're going to draw it Oh, we we can't draw two cards unless we burn a die to We could commit to that. But I don't feel the need to necessarily. I don't feel the need. Strike again on its own is not worth it. Burning Banishing a die is potentially worth it, but I need to be mindful of my dice pool. We are going to run out. So I only have three cards so far? Yeah, three cards so far into the um the boss pool.

Let's line them up so we can see this all as we go. I do want to take this guy on. Adjusting the dial to the next color in either direction is potentially helpful. I think that I I think I'm going to go ahead and um I think we do need every edge we can get over here. So I'm going to go ahead and um banish a die to be able to add a line to this card. We're going to play this over here for strike again and draw two cards. We're going to draw two cards. I can apply yellow dice to this enemy. I don't have any yellow dice left, so I can't do that. We have find weakness. You may apply any two committed dice to this card. They deal damage to this enemy. That That's a good one. I will play with my strike again. I'm going to play that card. Okay, that's going to help me out. Uh then I'm going to commit all purple dice and then a yellow, a red, and a blue.

I'm overcommitting. Why am I taking on this enemy? Why am I doing this? He's such a terrible enemy. But it is a good one for brutal attack. Brutal attack is a nice card to have. That's what I'm trying to wrap my way up towards. So we're going to go ahead and roll. Uh we're hoping for some crits over here. Wish me luck. We got no crits on our first roll. No crits at all. Uh which means we're going to go into the second roll. I'm going to shuffle this up over here, draw a card for my second strategy phase. I'm going to That's going to be my strike this time, and we have -1 to this enemy's attack. That would be helpful except he's got two, and I'm not going to survive that. So roll number two over here. We're hoping for the best, and we got a crit. We got one crit. One crit's not bad. We can then put this die over here. Um but I don't think are any of these other cards good right now. I could apply yellow dice in the cleanup step.

I'm going to play this for the third one over here. We're going to play that, and then we're going to roll these. Uh we need to get another crit and then all hits. So um wish me luck over here. I think that this is unlikely at best. Uh we're going to go ahead, and we got one crit, two crits. We have a miss. We actually have a miss, but we have two crits. So we put that here, that there, that there, and that there. That's 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. Uh that's enough to kill him, uh but we do lose basically all of our dice. Uh in the cleanup step, we will put find weakness back to our hand. Um to the left of the card to your hand. Okay, we can do that. Uh but then we're going to lose a card. We'll get rid of war magic cuz I barely have any yellow dice coming my way. Although I probably need it. Although I can use this, I'm going to get rid of war magic. We're going to get rid of war magic because we're going to discard down to our hand size, uh and we're going to get Manaphy. So we do get brutal attack, and brutal attack is going to replace a card in our hand because I think we need to at this point. Um so we're going to play that instead of ignore pain. So we're going to get rid of ignore pain, uh and we're going to toss that and add brutal attack to our hand. Okay, that is uh I'm pretty happy with that overall.

Uh we are going to do the following. What are we doing right now? We are gather thoughts. This is going to go here. Uh that's going to go here, and then this one is um This is a defeat enemy. That's what I just did. Okay, great. This goes away, and we can put one of these cards away. Uh doing the suffer damage step to an enemy reduces your health. At the end of this apply the first apply damage step At the end of the first apply dice step of this engagement, um -1. At the end of the first apply dice step. That's not a good one to keep. I think we're going to get rid of mad warrior. We're going to play mad warrior over here and see what happens. Beautiful. Okay, that's our fourth card. We got to recall three. I'm going to recall three purple because um I'm going to die. I'm going to die so hard. It's fine. It's fine. Let's see who we can kill a little easier this time. Uh we can only apply red dice right now. So let's see how well that works for us. I guess we'll we'll apply a red back, um and then we could add brutal attack, which would be a good one to do cuz if we apply a single red die plus brutal attack, we can take someone out. None of our cards This one does. Doing the suffer damage step to an enemy reduces your that instead of your that. Ignore this effect in the end game. Add any one card from the combat discard to your hand. Also, I should be doing this.

After the suffer damage step, gain the reward of an undefeated enemy. I'm going to gain the reward of plus one strat, okay? Uh we'll do it from the either one of those. So I'm going to bump my stat my my my strategy up by one and get rid of this card over here. Uh then we are going to go ahead and face off against this one, Selkie, okay? Selkie comes into play. It's got three, which is fine because we're going to go ahead and roll a single red die. So we're going to go a single red die, um and then Oh, and we're going to be playing Oh, I guess we'll draw a card. We'll draw a card. Okay, that's going to be round one. Um so in round one, we have Duana. You may recover up to two exhaust dice or one banished die. That's useful. Okay, uh we're going to then apply this one damage over here, and then in the second step, I guess if we have four rolls, we I guess we can't miss. We know we can't miss. So we can go ahead and play that.

I guess we can't trick our way into it. Fine, we'll go ahead and uh just play brutal attack. So we're going to play brutal attack. Deal two damage to this enemy if it would be defeated by this damage, which that would do it because one damage and then two more. Uh brutal attack destroys it. That's it. We have add any one card from the combat discard to your hand, so we can actually put brutal attack straight back to our hand, and we can get rid of one of these cards. If this card is activated in the end game, -1 health. I do not want that in play. I might have to kill that. Return all dice applied to an enemy. Okay. Okay, that's not bad. Um and then we can go ahead and it's an enemy is defeated, add the witch's claw combat card. It's a five in one. It's an enemy defeated, skip the recover dice step. When this enemy is defeated, immediately proceed to the resolve phase. We're going to go ahead and get rid of this card. Okay. There we go. Uh then we are going to go ahead and go into our next encounter.

We're at five enemies down. We need to get to eight. We get to recall three and this is going to rotate to yellow. So, we do have a chance of yellow dice once again. Not what I want, honestly, but you know, hey, then it is that. We can go ahead and grab two yellows and a red, I guess we'll grab for right now. That seems fine. And then we'll choose who to face off against. This is a five and one. Can we take on a five and one? We could if we bump the Did I take back two dice? Did I pick back two yellow and a red? I may back take back two green and a red. I think that makes more sense because then I can apply this one and hope for the best. So, we're going to go ahead and grab Promethean Sentinel over here. Going to take this one and play. Each time you apply dice to an enemy that's not matching the current die color, negative one.

Each time you apply dice to an enemy that does not match either the current dial color or the color of a die already applied to an enemy, negative one to any stat. So, just apply yellow dice, which is fine. Why Why would I not Why am I concerned with that? I'm not concerned with that. What we're going to do is we're going to play for our first card. You may adjust the dial in any direction. We're going to adjust to green. Okay. There we go. Then, we're going to follow that up with rolling three green dice. And seeing what we get. We got one, two. Okay. We're going to play this one to add any one card from the discard pile to our hand. It's going to add that one over here. And then, that's going to be gone. I think I should be saving this for end game, but who knows? Who's to say? Who's to say what you should be doing? Okay.

That is that one. You may apply any two committed dice to this card. They deal damage to the enemy. To this enemy. They deal damage to the enemy. So, then we'll play this card over here. So, you know what? We're going to leave this card in the discard pile. We're going to keep this over here for right now. So, we're going to do you may apply any two committed dice to this card. They deal damage to the enemy. Then we're going to add two purples into the mix. We're going to leave these dice over here. We're going to add two purples and this die and roll for number phase number two. We got a crit and a hit. That's that. He's dead by then and more so. So, he dies. If the enemy defeated, gain the Witch's Claw combat card. And these are all gone. So, we gain the Witch's Claw combat card. Which is over here. You may apply red and green dice to this enemy.

That's helpful. This one will go away. We'll put We'll swap this with the top card of the deck because I don't know what it is. We got Hex. You may apply blue dice. Okay, that's not the worst, not the best. We are then going to add an enemy to this. I think we'll get rid of this one. We're going to add that one over there. Okay. And then we are going to recover three dice while rotating the dial. Given that we can do blue, we're going to recover blue and then we'll do What was the top card? Was it green? It was green. We'll go ahead and take two green dice or two purple dice. We'll take a two purple dice. Okay, that's our recover stat. Which brings us to the next phase. We are choosing another enemy. We got two more to go. We're almost We're almost done over here. Plus one to any stat is not bad. To recall is too late in the game for recall to be useful at this point.

I'm going to die. Draw two cards and strike again. It's not the worst. It's a good simple one, but it's a right away card. Oh, speaking of which, this is a right away. My bad. I'm sorry. I keep doing this wrong. These are right aways. I keep treating right aways as a as one-time use. So, Brutal Attack would be in my hand. It's just counts against my hand size. So, we are going to do that. Which means we now get to go ahead and choose an enemy to face off. Victorious Hex is not bad. I'm nervous about negative one each time a purple die is applied to an enemy. Which I think we're fine to not apply purples right now. But then maybe if I'm tackling this guy Deal two damage to this enemy if it would. You may recover up to two exhausted dice or one banished die. I think we're going to We're going to take green dice over here. That's what we're going to do. Okay, we're going to see how that works for us.

Then, we're going to tackle Warped One. I might regret this, but we're going to tackle Warped One. Then from there we'll take If this card is activated in the end game, negative one. It's going to add another enemy. But it also doesn't deal damage to me. So, it doesn't matter to me. I don't think it does. So, we're going to take this guy and play. We're going to add another one. At the end of each strategy phase, discard one card from your hand. I don't want to do that. You may apply dice of any color. You may apply dice of any color to this enemy unless restricted by other enemy effects. Okay. When gaining a combat reward, gain the reward a second time. Okay. Let's Let's see how this plays out. That's what we're doing. We're doing our three enemies right now. I don't feel great about this. But let's Let's take this on one step at a time.

Over here, we are going to start by drawing a card, I guess. You may recover up to two exhausted die. We currently are only playing blue. This one does not like purple dice. This one is if this card is activated in the end game. We don't have to worry about that. You may apply dice of any color to an enemy unless restricted by other effects. So, we are going to go ahead and If this enemy is defeated, gain the Witch's Hex. I will

[sighs]

I will draw a card. Okay. We're going to draw a card. We're going to start with that. This might have been a mistake. Deal two damage to this enemy if it would be defeated by this damage. Okay. That was combat encounter one. Then I'm going to roll some dice. You may apply dice of any color to this enemy unless restricted by other effects. So, we're going to roll five dice over here with our first roll phase. And we have no crits. No crits. This might have been a mistake, guys. Not Not saying it was, just saying it might have. Then we are going to go ahead and play this one over here. Duana as our next card. This is phase number two. We're not applying any of these. You may recover up to two exhausted dice or one banished dice. I will recover these two dice.

Okay. Then we're going to roll again. And we have this. Okay, that's not a bad roll. That's not a bad roll for our second roll because we can apply this and this over here. Which I'm okay with. And then these two is only two. But you may apply dice of any color to this enemy unless restricted by other enemy effects. So, I'm okay with that. So, what we're going to do right now is we still have these. I don't think I want to apply them because we still two more rerolls. So, what I will do though Now, he's not dead yet. We're going to go ahead and take this card over here. And then we're going to roll these. Okay. We're trying to get a lot of enemies right now. We're going to roll that. We got a crit. Beautiful. I like the crit.

And then for our card, well, technically I should have played a card first before I did that. For the card, we're going to play Brutal Attack. Deal two damage to this enemy if it would be defeated by this damage, which brings it to five. One, two, three, four, five. So, this enemy is defeated. So, we could ignore him now. And we gain the Victorious Hex combat card, which may even go to our hand, but I think we're going to place it on top of our deck. Victorious Hex. You may apply purple dice to this enemy. We're going to place it on top of our deck, getting rid of whatever the top of our deck was, and then putting that there. Okay. That's this enemy dead. So, he gets rotated. His effect no longer is in place. Now we can apply purple dice, which is why I rolled this over here. And these can go away as well because they applied to that enemy. We now have one, two, three, four. So, we can place these on this over here. Is it worth taking this out? Return all dice applied to an enemy.

I don't know if it is. When gaining a reward cuz he can take a dice of any color. The purple one might have been a mistake. Rolling the purple might have been a mistake. Why did I roll the purple? Cuz I didn't know how to get a crit. That makes sense. That makes sense. I think at this point I will just ignore this card. It won't deal damage to me cuz zero. And I'll kill this card and then we lose all these dice, which is not the best. When gaining a reward, gain the reward a second time. So, next time we get a lightning reward, we get the reward twice. So, well, not next time. When we choose to. These cards are all going to go away. And I think we're going to try to take out that. You cannot apply regular hits. That seems mean. That seems very mean. Draw two cards and strike again. I don't know. Let's go ahead and get rid of this card over here. Putting this in this pile. We're on to enemy number eight. Cycle the top card of enemy deck to the bottom of the deck. That's not cool enough. Taking on the corrupted druid and we have to get three recoveries. And we are now on purple.

Okay. So, if we're on purple, we'll take a red and two purples back. We're heading into the end game not well off. I'll tell you that much. And then we cycle this to red. Wait, was it red or we on purple? Did we cycle to red already? I think we did cycle to red. Yes. Wait. Yes. What was I on? Darn it. This is the problem with tracking things. Did I already cycle that to purple? I must have. I think I think so. I think it was. So, now we're on red. Which is going to hurt me. Because I can do that and that. Let's go ahead and find out. Okay. We are going to go ahead and take this corrupted druid, which is going to come into play with another enemy. If this enemy No, we'll take this one. Okay. Renegade troops over here. Seems very basic. When an effect or ability would require you to banish any amount of dice, do not banish those dice.

That's very potentially useful. But we're going to see how this plays out for us. The recall is not good enough. The rerolls are fine. We are going to go ahead and assign We're going to play this card as our first card. You may apply red and green dice to this enemy. Now, we already could apply red, which kind of makes it a bad play. But you know what? It is what it is. We're then going to draw our We can do red over here, green over there. We're going to roll these dice. Four dice. I'm walking to the final battle with nothing. With nothing. Okay. You know what? We're going to see how this goes out goes for us. We're going to roll our dice. That's roll number one. Nothing. We're going to draw a card. We're going to we can now apply purple dice to an enemy, which is hypothetically useful but not useful. Rule number two. Nothing. We're going to draw a card again.

Rule number three. Not helpful cuz we cannot apply those at all. So, we're going to draw a card and we're going to roll number four. This might be it, guys. We might not make our way to the boss battle. We do not make our way to the boss battle. That was it. I needed to get um I needed to get crits. And unfortunately, we have one health cuz we didn't bother improving it. I was hoping to be able to get this, that, and then bump it up twice before walking into the final battle, but we cannot do that. So, I think unfortunately, we don't get to fight Wicker Man. We we we end with an early conclusion and we're done. We're dead. Anyways, that is the gameplay of Tainted Grail of 20 Strong Tainted Grail going through the card combat. Like I said already, this one is hard, but the challenge of choosing your your the fun of choosing your piles and trying to build your character while trying to persevere, I find that enjoyable. This was my first time playing with Djoanna.

I liked her ability in concept. I think I think I don't know if I love it as much after the fact. Anyways, I mean, it's not bad. It's not bad. It's just like I think I like other characters more. Also, the one health is like typical hubris for me when I play these games. I'm like, "I'll roll everything perfectly." And then you get one bad round and you're dead. Or I guess technically it was on the eighth round, so it's not that early, but nonetheless. Anyways, until next time. I'm Alex Radcliffe from Board Game Co. Hope you enjoyed this video and as always, I hope you have a good one.
