Mycelia - Live Playthrough Board Game and Giveaway.

[Music] [Music] [Music] good morning afternoon evening everyone I'm Stella and this is Teran from M today we are playing Melia from rensburg we are going to do a full playthrough of this now you might have seen the other Melia bought games out there that was the one on Kickstarter this is not it this is published production copy yes it's been uh I've seen a couple comments around the traps it's been a year of mushroom games I guess there was a uh when people started developing these games a year and a half ago there weren't many mushroom games out there and they jumped on and then and there were several it's like all the Mars games came out oh yeah around about the same time it's just like exactly the same title as well so not to be confused with the other one I think the other one was the other one melium and then this one is Melia oh hang on I might be wrong please let us know in the comments I thought that was like exactly the same Melia there's also melium I think there Melia two melas and melum I think and speaking about Melia I do like mushroom I think they're cute I mean like you can do really cute art with mushrooms which they certainly have yeah even on the cover here this guy with his DW drop yes you can see it in the in the corner as well I certainly like mushroom to eat mushroom not like the cooking one not any other type of mushroom and tan doesn't bit too earthy for my taste I know it's um not the one that's growing in our garden or those looks like they could be poisonous this is like I have no idea at least not good for you no at least not hello everyone bam d uh I had me 520 very interested in this one Matthew Cox Rich G hello hello everyone this is it's really fun game I'm like what it this like not only it looks cute it's just it's a fun race to get rid of your certain things in your board yes it's the way you do it is very unique so what we're going to do we're going to give you an overview of the game and then we're going to play the full game and we're going to draw a winner yes there is going to be giveaway as usual yes thanks to Rens correct and this is going to be us and Canada all right shall we get to the game yes let's have a look at what we're doing here so here we here we go this is the my CIA Wards uh what this is is a light deck building race to get rid of all of the due drops from your player board fundamentally what we're doing here we each have a identical player board set up with 20 due drops in identical locations and there's a number of these cards which give you potential setup uh setup options we each have a identical starting deck of six cards and on each turn we're going to have a hand of three cards and you play all of those cards to do various things and you're trying to get rid of these due drops uh really there's there's a few variations on it but there's three core things you're going to be doing you're going to be moving D Drops around the board trying to get them to your portal so when they get to your portal space they will disappear off the board uh you can try to just remove them automatically off the board so if we zoom in on uh zoom in on me see we've got icons like this which let you move D Drops there's icons like this which let you just simply take them off your board and those are the two ways to get them off your board move them to your portal or get a removal icon then the third thing we'll be doing is collecting leaves leaves are currency here they are and you can spend leaves to buy new cards to add to your deck they'll go on top of your deck when you get them you can also spend leaves to resolve these uh special effects once per turn which is to to uh reset the display of cards or move a d drop around uh every time so we have this uh fancy Contraption in the middle of the board here and we'll all the D Drops we remove from our boards will be filling this up and when we fill our segment uh which you'll see there's these uh these white colored swishes which represent the different player counts so playing up to here when all of these are full this is going to get rotated around it's going to roll this die and then based on this one here we're going to be adding one or two new D Drops onto our boards so we'll be clearing them off but occasionally getting a few more back uh we continue racing until one player has completely emptied the board we finish that round and if uh if we both finish it Whoever has the most leaves left in this game that's fundamentally it so it's a it's a light deck builder uh we are playing the we're playing the basic mode we're using only the basic cards there's a few other types of cards we'll show them towards the end of the game end of the video and there's a few there's a few iconographic things to pick up so you see this one here lets you move one d drop from water and you'll see there's water here on my player board there's a few like that so there's several of these cards where the effect is limited to the type of terrain and these Brown terrains are a little bit more difficult because there's no cards specific to those terrains you have to use the generic terrains to get rid of them um to use a card Effect there has to be at least as many due drops on the card on the space as is shown on the card so here for example this is a two d drop effect there have to be at least two D Drops on that space to resolve that effect um and then there are some which have this little Beetle icon you probably can't see it at this angle here but that is an exact one this is one d drop with a beetle icon it means there must be exactly one d drop on that space to be able to resolve that effect so you'll see this as we go through the game uh it's all about getting your D Drops into effective places to clear them off your board as quickly as possible lovely game beautiful components and hello Ella is around in on Facebook yay uh we've got Mark hang on let me that sort of thing so we are doing that and that part of it that's why teren haircut is like that new hairstyle new haircut and hopefully you'll see hopefully you get to see the video parody soon yes Australia so you never know okay so I get this uh that's okay PD fancy little 3D mushroom token to signify my first player Hood yep uh we draw three cards our starting cards are very basic indeed and them so I play this card this gives me two leaves and gives Stella one Le yay this one gives me one leaf so now I have three leaves put it here this one lets me move one thing off water so I'm just going to pop this one straight into the portal drop it right Ella go to Melbourne weather it's always like this right um all right do I want this for three leaves or do I want to hold on to my leaves I think I'll hold on to my leaves there's a few more uh higher valued ones here I know Stella has one of those cards in a deck which gives me uh a leaf and I know that I have one more Leaf so I'm going to end my turn there how do you get three leafes sock oh yeah because you have to yeah that by the time in a two-player game by the time everyone gets through um first round of cards we'll each have five leaves yeah that's true that's true it's this game is so nice it's so calming and it just it's just a great game I think it's it's elegant Greetings From Snowy Denmark oh no I don't ENT you fun it's could be thinky could be like easy family game as well I love games like that right when you can just play without too much strategy and then the rules is not heavy but then if you want to do strategy then you can because it's set up for it so not many on red at the moment which is interesting I'll go one move on green one move on red and then with my five leaves I'll buy this one which gives me five leaves and get that's why I should have hold off never mind I got I got um I got baited to me all five of my leaves all right my God and the leaves I mean the leaves are very valuable early in the game they become a bit less later on I know all right uh my goal I will play this that will give me one Le I will play this that will give me one leave and to remove one thing here I'm going to remove this one is just like right at the end and I'll will move Blue from Blue to something else and I'll move this one zoink okay uh and have to I'm not buying okay I will play my newly gained ones so I get five leaves get i'll point out for uh deck building fans in this very basic uh version the basic cards we're using here there's no trashing cards from your deck yes but the advanced uh version as we'll show does have many ways to thin your deck out as well all deck building fans uh afficianados will love David say watching this video is a few with a shroom instead of a two more D drops off the board and we will uh do you'll get to see the little oh I wasn't meant to shuffle but there's there was three in my hand anyway so three in my deck okay I was like what's going on all right here's my here's my um my play first I will do this one getting three and removing all yeah getting three three money three leaves three leaves and then removing one which is I'll probably get this one and then this which one do I want first this one remove I mean move from maybe that one oh this is interesting and this one is that one it's a funny like it's a interesting choice because my next plan is I'm going to buy that one cost me five exactly and this actually will let me G gain Four Leaves and AKA money or removing from two from Red sorry removing two from red and it's like it's this specific ones right this this up to two but if there's little B like it's really small but I'm going to try to show you this if if it says like this this is like this little b that means like must be two so specifically must be two no specifically must be exactly one sorry must be time must be one the other this one doesn't have it yeah so if it's two then you can't remove well yes that's the one I was familiar with yeah and then melum discovering the fangi kingdom 2022 I don't know that and melum 2027 I don't know that as well all right get one leaf mushling glom is the one most people are hearing about it now it's so close to Christmas you should wear a red cap oh I'll wait for um wait until we um our Christmas parody video I think the marshing game did just fulfill like recently Christmas y all right oh it's not on me so I gained one leaf I play this one a flat top guy holding a smaller flat top guy very cute uh so I pick a space with two which will be this one I remove one and move the other and then with red movement move that to the B feel like I haven't started we finished the thing feel like I haven't started working on my soil ones yet and that's going to come back to hurt me later on but we'll find out okay ah you had a center one did you yeah Center consult for Center consult this one yeah all right so we have filled we've actually more than filled the uh the two player space So at the end of the turn in which it's filled we rotate and it makes a mess which is fun to clean up and means that this logo based on this random generator thingy yeah u means that we add it's only one isn't it this it's only one for this this logo is only here which is on this place so I board then we flip this over this flips back and forward each time randomize it further and we can put the rest of these away oops oh no try to sabotage my board did anything move just this one I think just hit this nothing else move all right and there we have it so that is that is how the uh little reset Works David you don't want to cheat at this game because you w have a good morals you thank you all right all right I purchased nothing so I'll refill here neither of us yet used our special card abilities yes particularly later on once we're happy with our decks um I'm sure we will use this one more all right I'm going to play this one first to again one leaf play this one to again one leaf and removing one from an exactly one exactly one just this one not a lot to move the brown down out of the thing like the corner BR that's I feel like that's pretty high directly move directly exactly one and then this one getting four and oh or or removing from red so I'm going to gain four for this one and I have three four five six or maybe yeah maybe something else will r i mean I can always like can always Swip sweep sweep everything with one that means I have five it's not that much I mean potentially this is good as well this actually gives me three or removing W from green one I said before this is too expensive and this is moving and okay maybe I should just hold off to get this one this is the three times what is it three times you can remove three times you pick a square that has a at least two VI drops on it and you remove one it's not that good isn't it it's a very flexible uh way of getting rid of three D Drops at once yeah I guess so less useful as the game near as end mhm I guess this is also good because you move any color and you remove one from from Blue so you just like move to blue and then remove basically guarantee you remove from Blue and I don't have a lot of blue removal or move three and then but opponents get one I don't know ifon move one yeah I'll move one maybe I should get this one it still give me money and then money although if you have enough cards at the end it still gives me one free movement by spending three money so I'll just get this one then okay all right okay we've got a different sort of one that's just popped up here so for this it's an eight uh Leaf one you pick a square that has exactly one um that has exactly one d drop on it and then you may remove one from each of the four adjacent that is a good one all right yeah I have just been uh smacked with the riggers of deck building so I get one here and then I'm stuck with two cards that are basically there's no effective way I can use this it lets me remove three blues if the blues are alone and because of that uh Moon that got rolled I don't actually have any and this red movement can't create any and I don't have enough leaves to pay for this that's very frustrating sorry ter you all I can do is move one red yeah that's not a good hand draw I guess so that's a very bad turn um I could purchase this one for the two uh leaves that I have so it's a bit of movement might do that I check that I've received the entry for the giveway woo okay okay this is my go yes I have these three cards and I will really I kind of like want that eight one but I don't think I can afford it to s I'm going to start with this one so it gives me three four five six seven it's only seven which is this one and I get four on the space if there's only one on the space you cannot use that c that's pretty good and then there are two of these and then it lets it will also let me get rid of one yeah it's actually good for everyone I'm going get this and see what happened all right I have exactly seven left so I'm going to get that one it makes sense that there's you know this degree of symbiosis in mushroom world homemade good one anytime there's a low complexity game solo variant compend that isn't too expensive my foral is pop up sorry sorry or not sorry okay my go okay I have these so I only did one I will drops back it keeps the it keeps the um Randomness alive and it it means that if something gets dropped in a really inconvenient location you've got to respond to it wait before you um before you turn I might just use this to move something around but I can do it later anyway right I can do it anytime this once per turn yeah but you know if I have something that is letting me move I forgot to that last time yeah okay that's it you just don't want to get stuck in a which happened to me in the first game we played you don't want to get stuck wanting to move twice and only being allowed to move said earlier you can always spend threee once per 10 to move things away somewhere and then you you get to get one W okay that's okay I'll I'll do it I'll do it for us no I'll do it for me you unfortunately get the bonus unfortunately for me all right I will play this one gives me three leaves and remove two from Blue this one lets me move one which is on blue but I not going to bother mhm this one gives me one Li and you have four and I will spend one to move this one out of the water you move one or you move you spend three spend three to move one okay all right I have just like it's not a lot of movement this one so you gain one p and you got another one I get two you're welcome and I have one and I have eight and with that it's not useful anymore this is probably not this is not useful this is not really with that I'm just going to move one of these with three zoink and zoink okay not quite so we have we have one more to fill up before this roll againin yep I'm not going to be able to finish before I get there so I will be uh Del some others so this one lets me remove three individuals from Blue yep two three I'm going to spend these three no I'm not I'm going to play this one to move off red I will spend these three to [Music] move I might move on to here in the hope I get one of my water ones immediately and I get one okay that's it that's uh it but then it is Shuffle time and we've got leafy thing so it'll be that one and that one ah not ideal no not at all now I do not want my uh remove leaves from I'm sure okay all right my go first I will do oh no that's not the right one oh no actually one two I want to do this all right move that one here I three where is that to move this one here I know you have your so Soldier man I know and then it's like you get to remove one and I have like a bunch of them and I will just get one first remove one of these what is going on here is it meant to be here y okay and then I'll just have the soldier men to remove these three and you get to remove one and I have three money which probably I should just uh what's that one again it's a really cheap one it lets you it's two movements in very specific circumstance yeah not probably not have the soldier man again which I can't afford yeah no that's it okay do you prefer okay Rachel has got a question question for everyone do you prefer wood plastic or stone dice oo good question probably not wood what's a little bit feels like it might be imbalance I don't know maybe not Stone's a bit too heavy for me play on wooden tables a bit um I quite like w actually I don't mind this one is actually okay it looks like it looks balanced but you know sometimes you see those that looks like really crappy wood just like qu compacted wood yeah wooden dice reminds me of like um the better dice in the when I was growing up oh games that had wood plastic is like this cheaper stone is probably like the most the most expensive JMA say Stone hey JMA all right uh you get one so I moved one off here I get get six you get one leaf start spying this game L thanks you get one leaf I get six I'm going to spend one of those six on that's it yeah okay so now I'm basically just looking for my looking for something all right I'm getting one oh no I've already not set up properly So Tan this has to be like at least one in the in the green right exactly one so I can spend three no hang on I'm I'm just puzzling these things out right at the moment or I can gain three my gosh that this this card comes not at the right uh time I want it like two tens ago you get a couple off the board at least that takes us both down to 3D drops that's true so do that one first with this one I can move this one here but only give me one with leaves yeah isn't it yeah you would only be able to clear one of them off yeah I'll just move this one for three and then I just clear this one for one of for this power youve jumped to the lead don't know that's it both your things are on earth so it's good me a tight run to the Finish remember the tiebreaker is remaining leaves oh no all right uh this is a weak turn for me because I really I'm not oh yeah my I'm really not that interested in movement I want my one that clears things off water yeah this lets me move one I can choose not to resolve any part of it other than a oh yeah okay other than one which gives other players things you have to go from left to right so I'll just clear one off oh no that fills the thing up we're about to get I wasn't counting on you getting like five in want I get two leaves I to play on Bard game arena I think it lends itself pretty well to it um there are a few cards which you have to stop and let other people do their moves which is always something that kind of slows down board game arena like wingspan wherever it has to do there um that's correct the intermediate bird effects but otherwise it's pretty well set up for it um let's have a quick look at some some of the other stuff y so there's asymmetrical ler boards uh one fancy thing you can do there are more of these of course there a solo mode a bunch of things for solo play uh there is a whole second deck it's about the same size as the deck we use uh sorry that's the more starting characters uh which introduces the it's called The Challenge deck adds some more um some more gamery things to the deck of cards you can get so um there are immediate effects I think all of the almost all these cards have immediate effects so as soon as you get the card you can resolve that uh this is where you start coming into trashing cards from your discard pile giving you that opportunity to thin your deck thin your deck down um some more cute Art here's a Black Mushroom on to fly some more specific things to to try to deal with please enter the giveaway we're about to draw if you haven't here's a mushroom wearing armor holding two axes um and you'll see there's also this one up here we had uh cards A and B these two they didn't play a huge part in game oh it help though but as you play The Challenge deck some cards will give you c d and e as immediate effects and so you've got to get cards that earn you these and then these give you again a turn an opportunity to do these things once per turn for the Leaf cost so you can get a card that just lets you go through trashing the card you don't want uh you've got one that just lets you remove one one that gives you uh more movement flexibility so that is that is what you can get out of that I'll just show some more of this cute Art here's some little handpipe uh mushrooms um Expedition mushrooms go on fishing leaves and then I think oh here's another one sort of a faster mushroom mushroom in a swing glow inthe dark mushroom really cute oh my gosh under sea mushrooms like little flippers Evil saucerer Mushroom and here you can see the immediate effect is everyone else gets leaves but you obviously got a uh nice cheap cheap good car
