Is Finspan better than Wingspan?
Hello, welcome to Quacko. Thank you for being here. Today we're bringing you a game play of Wormspan from Stonemer G. We're bringing you a game play of Wingspan from Stonemer Games. Try again. We're bringing you a gameplay of a Wingspan game. You've just drowned all the birds. This is Finsspan by Stonemire Games.
I was highly skeptical of this when it first came out. Oh, you were skeptical for like let's give context of Wormsman and I was proved right and you were proved right and so then we're like okay we've been proven right by one so we're going to be proven right by the other. I hate the name but we've actually been enjoying the game.
We played like a dozen plus games of this because it's been so easy and accessible to get it out and onto the table that like the baby will go to sleep or take a nap like he is right now or sit in your lap while or sit in my lap while I Here's one important factor to add to the context of this game play.
I don't lose on camera very often, okay? But I don't win finan especially against the wife very often or at all so far. Bless you. This is We're o over a dozen games in I believe and I don't think I've won a single one of them. I've tried various strategies. We both have. We've gone down different rabbit holes.
We've explored lots of different elements of this game. I would even say we're probably at the point now. We're probably at the threshold now of having thoroughly exhausted our our gameplay interest or experience of what we want to try new. Yeah. I'm not coming up with new things to do. Now I'm just trying to play the game and trying to beat.
Now I'm trying to look at what I've been given and create the best strategy from what I've been given. Whereas other games, I'll have an approach that I'll go in with and then it'll sometimes drive with what I was given and sometimes I'm fighting what I've been given and have to revamp in the beginning.
And so that's, you know, that's that's that's where we are right now. We've actually, surprisingly enough, enjoyed this quite a lot. We played Wingspan recently. We played Wormspan recently. Played Wormstand, you know, maybe five times or so. I haven't been sold on it any of the times I've played. Wingspan is and was a channel favorite largely due to the bird theme and the broken, we'll be honest about it, duck only strategy that most people should follow.
You only recruit ducks. Uh, however, our last play or attempted play, well, finished play, successful play of Wingspan left us liking Finsspan more. Yeah, it was just neater and a little bit cleaner. Little bit cleaner. A little bit more simplistic. And I got to be honest, like the artwork, this is more my artwork.
I love the water. I like to go swimming. I like sea creatures and I like the color blue. Yeah. Yeah. I like I still I still like birds. I still do like birds. Shar, do you want to give them a brief overview of what this game is, a few of the mechanics of how it functions? Like surface surface level.
Again, it's it's the board game. It's the board game version of Wingspan. If you drowned all the birds and told them they had to go through a couple generations of biological adaptation, that's how fish were created, right? Birds were made and then they like fell into the ocean. They were created the same day, possibly.
Uh, can you go ahead and let them know what our objectives are? Let them know how this game runs while I silently and patiently sip on my tea. Let me know when you want me back in. Sounds good. I can be a los sometimes. We each have I don't want to like stumble over. [Laughter] You're wonderful. All right.
In this game, it's still really hot. Too big of a sip. All right, I'll be quiet. In this game, we each have a hand of five cards with different types of fish. The fish are going to have different requirements of where they could be played, the cost to play them, and then the rewards that you gain. You sometimes will get a one-time reward, and sometimes me remembering to turn on the upper cameras, and then sometimes you will get a reward.
You will sometimes get a one time. You're distracting me. I didn't realize I didn't realize that these weren't weren't on. Your your turn though. Take over. I will be quiet. I don't know where I'm up to. You got a market. You got You got our market of of of fish. They're all public technically. So, we're actually playing real game by having them displayed here.
Really? Our hand is supposed to always be public. Supposed to always be public. Fascinating. Yes. So, we each have a hand of five cards. Each fish each fish. Yes. I questioned myself over there for a second. It's cuz it's a wingspan board game. Each fish is going to have a cost requirement in the upper corner that is going to have the area where it can be played.
We have three areas on our board. sun, sunset, and night. And then it is going to have point values with the little wave symbol as the point value. This is how large it is, the 70 cm. And then these, this side is going to be your rewards. So these two is when you activate your entire column of fish, you will get these rewards.
This is a when you play it, you get that reward. And some of them have endgame scoring like my yellow one here. Exactly. Um, so on we are going to take six turns per round and each turn can be used to do different things. You can where's the player aid for that part? What are six? What are the actions that you can do?
Well, there's I mean there's not there's not many. There's not six. It's you can either trigger the row or you can play a fish. Play a fish. Yeah. You either you either dive down activating everything that's in your row and potentially getting a bonus if you haven't taken it before. Yep. You you you you play a fish card.
That's it. It's not too complicated. No. Uh each row is going to correspond to different things. So like this first row here is going to correspond to your graveyard, which is always available to you um and always separate. This one here is going to correspond to eggs. And this one's going to correspond to birthing and moving fish.
So card row, egg row, make tiny little baby fish that will score us points. We're going to play through four rounds with six actions in each round. You want to tell them what be endame scorings we're looking at? So, at the end of round one, week one, we are going to get three points per young fish. We want those baby fish.
So, these are the ones that can overlay. Um they're most of all the cards can hold young fish and one egg. Then week two, you'll get two points per larger fish. And you want those big daddy fish. Week three, you'll get three points for schools. So, anytime three young fish co um get together on a card, then they automatically become a school, which is worth more points.
Yeah. It's really a a kind of Bronx in the 1920s takeover mob mentality. It's you start with a young mob boss. He gets pushed out by one big kahuna and then suddenly a school of rubble rzlers, you know, rising up from the uh from the rapids are going to actually take over. analogies at all. Week four, someone's following it.
And then week four, you're just going to activate any of your game and abilities and that'll be that'll be the game. That'll be the score. Uh so, go first. We are going to go ahead and play. She wants me to go first cuz strategically she is uh assuming that I haven't thought through my game play and she hasn't either.
And she's thinking that if I take time, she'll have extra time to go ahead and think through little rules will come up throughout the game and symbols. So, like the symbol, the cost for this card is two cards. The cost for this card is one egg. Um, you can sometimes eat fish, but the fish that's being eaten has to be smaller than the fish on top.
So, yeah, there's lots. We're not teaching you how to play the game. We're just hanging out and playing the game, having some fun, reading some flavor text. I always seem to make the mistake of going for one like really really aggressive strategy and not really diversifying. I I'm I'm trying to think through how I've played wrong in the past and I usually try to like buckle down like I'm getting all the cards or I'm not playing any cards that give Shira uh adjacent abilities because I always think that's like a waste of a waste of actions.
I think I am going to go ahead and play down this lovely white band trigger fish. Uh, its body is divided into roughly geometric areas, each with a different design and color pattern. Isn't that nice? Isn't that Isn't that lovely? I'm placing this down. I'm not going to be playing it up here in the in my top area cuz right now I don't have anything that is related to triggering that.
I do have a game end that deals with birthing a little fish and moving little fish. It's not too essential at the moment, but it could be good if you're triggering a bunch of game end abilities, which can escalate and allow you to play a ton of extra cards and other things down. Uh, so I've played this card down.
I'm going to have a fish go over here or a little diver go over here and I have to discard a card from my row. I'm going to get rid of my game end ability, not because I don't want to play it, but because I will likely be able to pull it back because the card that I put down allows me to recover people from the graveyard.
Sure. Your turn. I'm going to play down this Saddleback Butterfly Fish. It's going to cost two cards. Um, if activated, all players will get to hatch an egg. Therefore, I am going to put it over here in the egg hatching row. Um, and it's going to cost two cards. I am going to pay the cost of this because when played I don't have four um cards in my graveyard yet.
So that's not very helpful. Um I kind of liked all these. But you're going to be harder to play because I want to save up my little young fish for now. So those are the two cards. Yeah, I'm looking through my row here. I always want to get as many people down before I start activating rows, especially if they're all in the blue row.
The issue with some of my cards though is this one's going to pull people back from the graveyard which I already have that ability and I get a bonus ability for that. This one gives you a card which might extend your turn which is very annoying. But sadly this one's only 30 cm big and if activated he can munch on another fish but he's expensive and he's not very big.
All these I eat other fish cards tend to be tiny tiny little fish. It's not meant to be the best. Well, it should be. So, I am going to actually go ahead and spend an egg. I'm going to play down my long thin batfish. Oh, interesting. This is not required to be played in the blue zone. So, if I wanted to do something like go ahead and hatch some of my eggs that I have, I could play this over into an adjacent sunny zone, meaning that I would have another row that would give me the opportunity for drawing cards as well.
And that that could be big because your blue row can get crowded out with drawing card abilities. So long long fin batfish a peaceful social fish. The longfed batfish form schools with fish from other species. They hang out with whales. That's what it said. And I have to spend an egg in order to do that.
Shira, your turn. I have a conundrum and I don't quite don't quite like it. My conundrum, if you look at the two cards I have left, I have this, which costs two egg, and when I play it, I can play a fish into the purple row. The fish that I can put in the purple row costs another egg, and I only have two eggs.
See the problem? I do see the problem. I do see the problem. One of the things I just realized and I'm I'm being reminded of is rows only activate if there's a fish in existence there. So right here I would be able to draw, but I would not be able to draw here. So I have two draw power right now. Over here I didn't actually maximize that very well.
I get a draw power, but uh I don't have multiple I don't have multiple egg abilities. Do you mind if I shift things around or am I locked where I am? You're locked where you are. Oh, good. All right. Well, glad we've set that precedent for this video. We've played one. You're intimidated. That's what it is, right?
I'm dropping down this row, which is only going to get me one card. Draw a card and you'll be able to pull a card from your graveyard. But it looks like she's in a position to do That's not Those aren't the cards. They're literally right next to you. Um, it looks like you're in a good position to potentially get both of those cards out next turn, which is what I assume you're aiming at doing.
Grabbing that one back and grabbing you. Oof. See, you guys are all very expensive. All right, your turn. Yeah, I I am going to go ahead and drop down. Do I want to drop down this row right now? I only get one egg hatch ability anyway. So, I'm going to go ahead and drop down this row here. I will get to birth a fish.
They flip over little tokens. I will get to draw a card. and Shira will also get to draw a card. Um, I then will get to move a tiny little fish because eventually you want them to connect to make a big mob of fish. That's my turn. I'm going to steal that from you eventually. My toy? Yeah. If I make noise.
Yeah. Okay. I won't make noise. I am not making noises. So, how do I want to accomplish this? Game end. Birth. Birth three fish and move them all together. That's pretty powerful. It is. I hate doing this now, but I think I'm going to eat this fish. Oh, no. and put this guy down here. Um because when played I can move.
That's not the ability I wanted. I wanted to draw cards. So, all righty. I get to draw two. One, two. Your turn. I can This can move and you can, you know, you can overlay too if you don't have people that you're too excited about. Um, I'm going to be playing down my scaleless black dragon fish. Oh, no, sorry.
My false cleaner fish. Uh, this has to go in a blue row. Has to go up in a sunny area of the blue row. The problem is is that these other guys are too expensive right now for me to play, so I can't really make the most of them. It is going to cost both of my people to do that. Um, but when I run this row, I will get all three of my trash cards back at the moment, which isn't too bad.
And I'd get to draw two cards, so I'm likely doing that this next turn. Shira. Yeah. Well, don't sound so excited. I don't really like my turns, honestly. So, I was thinking that. I didn't, you know, I didn't want to bring it up, but I need another egg. Oh, I know that what I was doing. Okay. Um, is there anything else I want to play?
We are going to play this card. You're just trying. You're throwing me off. I'm thinking about how I can rearrange the cards so that they fit these while not fitting. I'm getting rid of you and I'm getting rid of of you for now. And I'm getting rid of you for now. One, two, three. Um, I've played that card.
Okay, I am diving down the blue row. I'm going to go ahead and be able to draw a card. Game end. Eat two fish. I'm going to recover. Recover. So, cards come back. No one's swallowing fish right now, so I'm not too worried about the recover abilities. I do not get this draw card ability. I do, however, get this one because the printed fish is in fact a fish.
Oh, wow. I'm not going to be able to play that one. Oh, that's so sad. When played, activate two, man. That's a great one for this first round. I don't have the egg necessary to play it. Yeah, cuz I already hatched one of my fish. All right, I'm going down this row now. I don't get an egg here, but I will get one egg here, one egg here, and three eggs.
I always have three eggs. This is disappointing. I thought that I would be able to trigger into a good draw round, but everything that I just grabbed requires eggs in order for me to play them. So, I'm I'm in this position where I I can't play any of the cards that I have and I'm just going to have to do a Do I do a generate egg round or do I just draw another card?
I think Oh, I got to take my top guy though. I think I generate an egg. I'll only get one, two. I would have got three potentially, but uh that's not what we're going to do. And I got to stick those onto some little fish. So, got ourselves an egg. We got ourselves an egg. Okay, it's the end of my round.
Your turn. You need to You need to hatch. I know. But it also allows you to hatch. Oh, I get to hatch. That's great. Do you want to hatch or do you want to hatch? No, I I want those three points. I want to hatch. I know. So, I got one hatch from here. All if activated, all players can hatch an egg. I don't get from here and I don't get from here and down here.
I can move them. I'm grabbing a pen so we can keep our score theoretically. All right, that's the end of the round. So, as soon as you get to the pen. Yeah. Go and start going through it. All right. That was loud. Wait, that's not a pen. That's a not a pen. It's a highlighter. Pencil. Pencil works. All right.
Cheer and Jesse. Week one achievement. I have two * three is six. Nine points, please. Yep. And large fish is our next objective, which none of us have done very good at. I've never got any. I have one right now. And it is on to my turn. Your first turn. Okay, I can finally do this. So, I'm going to pay the two eggs um to put this down.
And he is going to go down. You need to go a sunny boy. You're going to go here. And then when played, I could put down another one. So, you are going to go up here. That was my turn. Okay. I think that we're going to go ahead and play an egg, a fish, and a card. I will just go ahead and flip over this honeycomb scaly dragonfish to put down the giant devil ray.
Devil rays get their common name from the twin horns on their heads that are actually fins used to help them feed. He's going to pop in right here. I want some card draw abilities. And when he's played, he's going to go ahead and give me two lovely fish. Okay, I'm going down. Drawing a fish. Not drawing a fish.
Drawing a fish and getting one back. Your turn. All right. Well, I'm going to have to go down as well. I'm going to gain a fish. I'm going to recover a fish. I'm not going to recover a fish. And then I'm going to gain two more fish and continue to not recover. Feel like that could have been done better, but still probably not.
Maybe I could have done the scaleless black dragonfish in there first. possibly. That's interesting. Okay, on to you. Picking this one back. Um, double large fish drawn by Shira. Yeah, that's frustrating. Um, I don't have any eggs at the moment though. So, we are going to go down diving so I can maximize this so I have something in everyone.
One egg. I've activated a second egg. So that's one, two, third egg. Well, that's a one played. Fourth egg. If activated, I can move a fish. Move you here. And down here's another egg. Can you hand me another egg, please? All right. I'm in a spot where I need a lot of I need a lot of eggs at the moment.
I don't have a lot of great ways to get a lot of eggs. I have a medium card trigger and everyone else is a small fish right now on my roster. So, I'm going to go ahead and do this. The requirement for this is that I have to consume a fish. Although, he's 100 centimeters, so he he can actually consume pretty effectively.
Mhm. Do I want to I mean, I'm going to The ones that they put on the board don't give you points. Yeah, I'm going to consume one of the ones on the board. I think I'm going to go ahead and do this one here since it's an egg related ability anyway. Um, but when played, all players are going to place an egg on each of their medium fish.
This benefits both of us the same, sadly. When played. Yeah, but you can you can't have multiple eggs, can you? It's one egg per fish. True. So, it actually benefits me and does not benefit you cuz you just I just put put eggs on your Well, no. You didn't know I was playing it. Could I have seen that it was in your hand?
Absolutely not. Because you didn't let me move my fish from one row to another row. So, no. What are you talking about? You established how this game was being played early on. My turn. I'm playing this ocean sunfish at the game end. It's a large fish. It's also going to let me put an egg on every large fish.
It's going to cost a card and two eggs. Um, and you are going to go here, I believe. Okay. Oh, man. Your turn. Yeah, I I kind of want to go digging for big fish again, but I've done that in the past and you almost never come across the fish that you're hunting for. Um, so it turns into into this non effective game.
So instead I'm going to go ahead and pay an egg, pay a fish, and pay a card. I'll go ahead and get this one flipped to go put down a snaggle tooth. It has rows of photofores on its flanks and luminescent patches above its eyes, nostrils, and its pictorial fin. Very cute. Very cute. And I think this guy needs to go into the middle row here so that it's going to trigger some fish movement when I hatch all of my eggs, which I don't currently have.
Your turn. You just did a card draw. Yep. All right, two more actions left. Did you get any big fish in that draw? Okay, good. At least you didn't cuz I would have been really sad if you had. How many big fishes do you have? I only have one. So do I. I want Oh, did I Is there a bonus for having the most?
Did you give that to me? I think there's a player who received the most points scores three additional points. Yeah. So, 15. No, 12. I want something here in the purple row, which I'm restricted right now. I have the honeycomb scaly dragonfish and the spookish, but the spookfish can only go in the twilight zone of the middle row.
And the honeycomb scaly dragon is going to cost more eggs than I currently have. I really want something that can go down in the basin or up across the top because I I I want to run my egg birthing machine. But uh I'm not I'm not going to be in a position to do either of those and I'm not in a position to play either of those.
So I got to rethink I got to rethink what I'm doing. I I could put a green fish out. It would give me an extra birth, but that doesn't matter so much. I could put a blue fish out. It would give me a consumability, but again, that doesn't matter so much, I think. Sadly, I might have to waste a dive ability just to go get some eggs.
So, I get one egg, I get two eggs. That's a really lackluster turn. Okay, your turn. I know this is really hard. Just in case my wife has not seen, our child is already awake. Awake and beginning to climb up the side of his bed. Thanks. Which means we might finish round two and do what? That was a very short nap.
Yeah, he might settle back down. So, we'll we'll we'll we'll see if he settles down at all. It really was. It was right at 30 minutes. All right, we're going to play All these can only go in the sunny zones up here. None of them are really cards I really want. So, we're just going to go down and get some eggs.
Um, so we're going to get one, two, three, four eggs. One, two, five, two more eggs. All right. Okay. My turn. Oh, do I just Do I just do a hatch run? I don't think so. I think I've I've still got to start preparing my board for more effective plays in the future. Um, so I am going to go ahead and do a honeycomb scaly dragon play.
Is that is that what I want? Yeah. And I'm going to go ahead and set him down here in this basement region. He's going to cost two eggs and he's going to cost one card. And I think you're the one that I'm the least excited for. All right. All right. Are we waiting to see if this baby settles down? He does look like he's still I know he does look like he's still tired.
He is paci hunting at the moment. Two points per archfish. You still have I still have one. Did you get a second one down? Nope. So, we each get two plus the bonus. There's no bonus for tied. Nope. I thought it said that up there. Nope. It says players the player or players who receive the most points from this week's achievement.
Oh, okay. Interesting. So, it's it's a it's a friendly. I probably should have assumed that. Okay. Continue with round three. Continue with round three. Yeah, he's passy hunting. He's not standing at the edge of the bed screaming. So, we'll see. Your turn first. My turn first. All right. Everyone has to come back in.
I feel like I'm in a position where I really need to just do some card draws. So, I'm going to gain a card. I am going to recover two cards from the graveyard. Does not feel like that's the most maximized thing I could have done, but I'll gain another card and I'll gain another card. And I could recover again, but I'm not able to recover again.
So, your turn. I am going to play this card up here. It's going to cost me a little fish. Um, when played I can hatch and then move. Oh man. Your turn. When played, all players can hatch an egg and then they could move a fish. Right now, we're looking for big schools of fish. So, I need to get a bunch of eggs on the table.
Then I need to get a bunch of people hatched quickly. I need some top sun abilities. So, but you're both locked into green. I really need some people in purple. You could go into purple, but you're going to you're going to cost me you're going to cost me one of my adorable little baby fish that I need to make big old schools.
So, you're kind of a hard ask. You have to go into Twilight. You have to go This is the one issue I have with this game. I sometimes have so many cards and none of them set up in a way that I would like that benefits me. Um I I am going to go ahead and I guess pay the one fish to put down the wolf trap angler.
Um it feels pricey, but it is going to give me a chance to go ahead and get another egg when I do a run there. So I'm going to get some cards. One, two, three, and one from recycling. Two. Three. Okay. Is that it? Yes. All right. I am going to do Is there any other people that I need or want to put down before I go ahead and do an egg run?
Hatch an egg and move. Costs of fish. Game end costs two eggs to do. None of these are great. I'm doing an egg run. So, one egg, two egg, three egg, four egg, and I can move one of my fish. But I didn't I I My fish are together. I don't actually need a fish movement. So, four eggs over onto the board.
Your turn, Shira. Don't want these end ones right now. But I do need something that can go in that middle zone. So, I'm looking at these three cards. All right. You're pricey, but we're going to put you here. Three cards. One, two, three. And yeah, your turn. I need someone in the Twilight Zone over here to allow me to move.
I know. I I I saw that. This gives me movement abilities. I don't actually need the movement abilities, though. I need a lot of aggressive hatch egg abilities. These guys start letting me hatch eggs. So, two cards and an egg. I'll play one of them. Um, and you have to go up here in a sunny region. So, the two cards that I'll go ahead and knock off, I don't feel like I want you.
And you have already kind of been locked out of my game. And I have to spend an egg to do that, which is okay. Turn here. I want to play one more thing to be able to move. Um, I do want you down there. Both of you have to swallow things. And there's nothing for you to swallow in the row that I have.
All right, never mind. Okay, we're hatching an egg. You're gonna hatch this guy. He becomes a friend. Um, this is a oneplayed ability. This is all players can hatch an egg. Can hatch. Okay, so we're going to hatch you. Then here is another hatch. Then here all players can move a fish. Okay, this I don't get anything.
This would be a move. Um, and I think we're good right now. Okay, I am going to do I spend an egg right now. I'm getting a hatch. One, two, three. If I take an action, spend an egg, I would get to hatch an additional one, but I can't make the most of that. So, hatch. Hatch. All players draw a card. Hatch.
Hatch. All players draw a card. Hatch. And then double move. So, one, two. I got another card. No, thanks. I was just reading through things. Okay. So, please give me two big red schools and then I can do another move if I would like. Um, but I don't necessarily need to because I got my two schools so far.
Okay. Um, I'll move a school up here though. We'll go hang out. All right. We are going to go down and get eggs. One egg. Two egg. Three eggs, four eggs, five eggs, and one move. Is that your last turn or you got one turn left? I got one turn left. She's going to get some big old hatch action. So, um, five eggs.
One, two, three, four, five. Oh, feel like you're going to be shutting me out. So, I'm just going to go ahead and do a card draw to prepare myself for this last round. One card, recover two. Two cards, three cards, recover three. So, three cards, recover three. Your turn. I'm not actually going to be any farther ahead than you.
You're not going to be able to connect them. I'll be equal to you. Okay. But I was hoping to have one more. Um, so then yeah, we're gonna go down here. Hatch. All players can hatch. So, we're going to hatch this one, which becomes one. Um, you heard that you can hatch. I don't have any eggs. Oh, cool.
I get another hatch. So, I get two more hatches. We're going to hatch you. We're going to hatch you. Then all players can move. We're not screaming as much as we are sleepily pacy hunting at the moment. I'm going to move you here. Um, and don't get this and this. All right. We definitely are still tired.
We would like to be cuddled back to sleep. I think is the end of week three. We each have two schools. Two big schools. So, we're going to get six plus three. Nine points each. All right. Let's see if we can wrap this up quickly. I don't think we're too distressed. I think we are okay. I think we're still tired, but we're not we're not the best at going to sleep on our own at the moment.
All right, my turn. Do I have anything that I can maximize? Ooh, the whale shark right now. When players, all players put an egg on their green fish. That's kind of interesting. And it takes a school. It's 12 points, which is pretty darn powerful as well. Schools are worth how much? Six points. Okay.
Um, I don't I don't hate that. And you already have your green row maximized. So, I think it's time to utilize that. So, I'm spending a big school. That's gone. And I'm going to go ahead and get to put an egg on every fish, including this one, in my green row. Lovely. Your turn. Uhhuh. You loved that action.
I loved it. All right, we're going to put you down. You're going to cost a card and two eggs. We're going to take you and we're going to take you. And which card? Which card? You're going to go here. Your turn. Okay. I have a play a card down into the green zone. I have a play a card down into the blue zone.
So you could play down into the green zone, play into the blue zone, play into the green zone, and eat a deep fish. You could be a deep fish. That's not too bad. You could be Okay, so I think we are definitely going to need a lot of eggs at this final round, but we're also going to need a lot of general fish.
I don't love any of the abilities I have. I think I'm going to do You have a purple zone ability. Are you trying to get that out? One fish and kill a card. That's pretty easy to get out actually. So, your blunt nose shark would benefit. If I had anything that I wanted to put down into the purple right now, like this would be the time.
Also, I have the ability to eat cards. It's only worth two points though technically. Game end, eat two cards. That's not That's not worth that much. Doesn't seem that good unless you're going for the other adjacent things. So, I'm going to go ahead and do a run of hatching, I think. No, I am going to go ahead and play a card.
We're going to stick you out. It's going to cost an egg to do that, but that'll let me hatch all four. Do I want to hatch all four? Oh, I'm I mean I'm hands off. Lock. Yeah, locking into it. Your turn. Okay. Um I'm going down this row, I believe. Yeah. One card, two card, three card, a trash card. Your turn.
Big old hatch card that she got. Endgame hatch. Um, I am going to float down my Am I doing all of my rows is sort of the question right now. If I am doing all my rows, I should probably start with the card row so I can make the best actions based on what I have. And you have nothing that's going to be messing with my green fish.
No. So, one card recover two. Two cards, three cards, recover three. So, all these are technically back. Actually, I think I already had all of these. None of these were discarded. I just had them down here because they were lame. Oh, then I shouldn't necessarily do that run. That's the problem. I should have had these just piled up here as lame cards instead.
Does that make sense? Mhm. because I've been flipping mine over. So, I'm not doing that run unless it's still the best play. It might still be the best play. I am doing that run. Card card. So, three cards, but I get no recovered cards. I don't think I need a bunch of recover cards. Okay, here's another game end.
That's really the type of stuff I was looking for. when played card on each purple and if activated I get some movement. I want to check when you get cards like this that say you play a fish down, do you still have to pay the resources? Yes. Yep. Okay. Oh, so expensive. I am going to play this down.
I'm eating him and one small fish. And it's all players get to put an egg on everything in their purple row. Wow. Okay. Purple. Purple. No, only three. Okay. Um, I'm going to go ahead and do a hatching run. So, one, two, three. All players draw a card. Uh, four hatching and four movement. So, one, two, three.
No, but I actually want to do these over here. Two, three, four. And then one, two, three. Four. Okay. These guys turn into a big old fish. And it is your turn. I have two actions left. You were three actions left. Yep. I'm going down. I'm spending a card. I want that one. I want you out and I want you out.
If I need to put out two cards, then I only have one extra card to play. Okay. Um, you are going to cost me Okay. Putting you out. Um, and it costs a card. You're nice. Gosh, I know I need to for sure get this out. So, it's going to cost one card. Um, we're going to get rid of this card. I'm just going to go eat this fish so that this is at least worth a point.
Okay. Okay. Your turn. Yep. I'm going to put out a big eyed sooth head. The Genius was first discovered in 1911 off the coast of Baja California Pens Peninsula where its Latin name comes from. Um, this is going to go down into the deep zone here. It's going to cost me a card, which I don't mind, and it's going to cost me two eggs, which I have to spend, and it is going to go ahead and put an egg on each of my purple cards.
Nice. Okay, your turn, Shar. I have one action left. I'm going down here and hatching. Hatch one. So, we're hatching you. All players can hatch. Okay. Another hatch. This is going to be another hatch here. All players have activated can move. So, we're going to move these three. you. Um, and then I get another move.
Um, that we're going to move you. I'm feeling pretty I'm feeling pretty darn confident about this one to be honest. I'm glad I put the caveat at the front that I never beat Shira because it might be playing on camera is just my strategic Yes, it is usually my turn. Your turn. Okay, my last action and I hope this turns into a lovely sequence of many, many actions.
I need to do it's either the blue or the green. I think I'm going to go ahead and do the blue one right here in this position. It's going to cost me two eggs and a card. So, I will flip. Who do I want to flip? I don't have anywhere to play another blue one that I'm interested in. So, I'll flip you and I will spend two eggs to do that.
Okay, last action. We trigger endgame. We calculate the score and then we go rescue a baby who is transitioning from being sleepy pacy hunting to being frustrated that um he hasn't been cuddled back to sleep. Mhm. And then we pack for a road trip. So, that's good. I think this is the play. Um, I'm putting down this card.
It's going to cost one. Um, I'm going to between the two of you. You guys are each equal points. So, we're going to get rid of you and two eggs. Okay, I'm going to start triggering my endgame abilities if you're okay with that because I have the the chain that I normally try to do or at least a a minor chain.
Ah, this is Where did I take these from? It isn't actually as powerful as hos as as I was hoping it would be sadly. Okay, cuz I don't have like three or four of them. I only have the two of them. So, end game. I can go ahead and play a card down into um a blue row. Oh, this this one should have been in a different row.
It shouldn't have been here in the blue row. Um, it's it's fine. It doesn't matter that it is, but strategically, um, I will pay to put this one down. Might as well cover up a fish. So, it costs Oh, I need the eggs to do that. Those are off your board. I know. I know. I know. I'm I'm I'm realizing that I've made I've made some type of calculated error here.
Uh, you want me to do my game end ones while you did that? Well, I thought I had more that would pile on top of each other, but I don't actually have more that are going to be able to pile on top of each other cuz normally I have I didn't think through this very well. Okay, so I'm going to go. That's so sad.
Demon, I get to put a fish in the river. I'm going to put this fish up there. It's going I needed two eggs left. We're going to put that fish up there. But first, we're going to trigger this one. Game end. Put an egg on all of my big fish. One egg here. One egg here. One egg here. One egg here. Now, we are going to put this trigger this game in ability.
We're going to put this up here. And we're going to take an [Music] egg from here. Then we are going. So I did these two game end abilities. So we're going to do this which is hatch three. One, two, three. Wow, you're really in a great position. And then we're going to move this over here to get another school.
You said you feel confident though, so no worries. I do feel confident. I thought I thought I had a little bit more of a chain than I than I do. Um, and now I'm going to start triggering. I needed I need I needed the other egg. But I I have this card here, Shira, that lets me put eggs down. Yeah, but I didn't realize that I would get stuck not having an extra play.
So, um my guy here is going to let me play this one. Ah, I need it to be in the green row. Can I just change those two cards or am I stuck? You're stuck, man. Oh, man. This gives me a fish and gives me a move which is going to convert these guys into a red school. But I I need an additional egg and I don't have a way to generate an additional egg and then get an additional card play.
I was thinking that this would give me all the eggs that I needed to play down my additional cards, but I don't actually have it. I'm not in that position and this card wouldn't have worked anyway. So, I'm just going to go ahead and have to do this one. Um, I can put this into the blue row. So, I will spend three cards to put a binocular fish down.
Game end. It's going to put a egg on each one of my small cards. Which eggs already? Oh, I have two eggs. Shira, did you not see this? I have an egg right here. Okay. Why didn't you tell me? I paying attention to my board and going to go rescue a baby. Okay. Can I go rescue him now? I've tallied my score.
You're going to go rescue him and I'm just going to tell you who won. No, I'll bring him back over here and have him sit underneath the table for a minute. Okay. All right. You'll have a squeaky baby. Um, so I have the two eggs that I needed. I can put down this one that allows me to then play a card in the green zone.
So, I'll do that. And then I'll put down this one. Um, it's still it's still not honestly the best sequence of events cuz I I I did want to get that last one out, but it is it is filling up the board a little bit more. This one can go right on top of my Beccani Cardinal Fish and that would have given me an additional three points, which would have been very nice along with the cards underneath him.
Um, but I don't have the resources necessary to trigger that. So, I already did this one. It made my big school. This one's triggering a blue play. I paid the resources to trigger a green play. This one can pop over here into the green zone. It is going to go ahead and put an egg down on every one of my tiny little baby minor fish, which is a decent amount of eggs, which is going to convert into a decent amount of points.
I still feel confident about this. Like, I don't have many cards left over. I think I'm in an okay position. So, game end points yellow. I don't have anything that's giving me organic points from game end points printed on visible fish. So, let's go ahead and add this up. Five 10 14 15 16 17 18 22 um 29 32 38 40 44 56 uh 60 61 point higher than Chiron here.
That's important. Eggs, one point each, which I just got a lot of those. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Young one point each. I have no young. Schools six point each. So I have three of them. So that's going to be 18 points there. Shira got 24, which is disappointing. Conf consumed fish, one point each.
I have one. I have two. I have three. Just the basic starter fish. So that's all that I have. Oh, we are so close. This is going to be really, really tight. Um so 6 uh 9 10 11 plus another 9 20 80 83 um 107 100 and 10 I believe is Shira's final score. Mine is going to be 12 + 5 17 uh 26 um 87 90 uh 108 116 I believe is my final score.
So this might actually be my first victory. I know Shar is going to come in and she's going to hear that I'm claiming my first victory. Yeah. Did you tally? I I did. I did. Go ahead and tally. Those are going to make so many crunching sounds. How about you just pop over? I'll trade out with you. I he was going to be sad if I put him down.
Oh, hi, sweet boy. I What? We don't put you on camera. We're filming. We're finishing a game play. I'm sorry. Hi. or a sixpoint difference. Is there nothing I could have done? Hi. Hi. Yeah, we would we would be happy for you to play the game, but we don't still see his pass. We don't want you. Hi. I'm sorry.
You left his pacy over there. It's so overwhelming. Hi. You want passi? Okay. All right. Yeah. When you peek over, I've got to do a top shot. [Music] Oh, I can't believe you I can't believe you won. You calculated with a calculator, too? You can run the calculator if you'd like. I'll run the calculator.
Can I give you a pass? Should we hang out here? Your father just nearly won a game and it's because we're playing on camera and that's mama's greatest defeat. Yeah, he's so far right. When did you get another school? I got one from from an endgame connection. Yes, you won. Oh, I am the victor. Thank you so much for watching.
Thank you for being here. Yeah, you say thank you. You as well. You as well. Yeah. I Okay, we're going to let you go cuz we've got a baby. Thanks for watching. Thanks for being here. Whatever the case, whatever you do, remember to do the important thing. Get out. Don't put babies on camera. Get out and play some games.
do that. Yeah. More. You didn't want to destroy it. Attack. Yeah. That's about to fall off the edge. Mama's worried about the pickup process. Hey, booty. Booty. You like this part of the game? Yeah, we should always play games and invite you at the end. This is a good part. Yeah, you're going to knock off the camera and the drink and yourself.
This is a good part. Well worth the wait.
