hello everybody my name is Ilia and my name is Tyler together we make up c a couple that loves to play board games and today we'll be teaching you how to play Misfit Heroes missfit Heroes is designed by Phil Walker Harding it's published by AEG who helps sponsor this video now this game is a prototype so everything you see may be subject to change and if you want to learn more about this game it is coming to crowdfunding so hit that link in the description down below or you can just learn more about the game if you already have it exactly with that said let's go to the table and let's learn how to play as always you'll be by setting up if this is your first time playing you'll create your deck of hero cards by sleeving an attribute card with a random transparent character card after you finished sing all the cards you'll Shuffle the deck and place it face down in the center of your play area you'll then make a supply of influence tokens and coins Within Reach of all players then you'll sort the region tiles by color and arrange them beside the draw Pile in four descending column with the highest values on top you remove the 11s for a three-player game and both nines and 11 for a two-player game finally you randomly choose a starting player they'll receive the starting player token and 35 coins the second player will receive 40 coins third 45 and fourth 50 coins each player will receive five cards from the hero deck and a reference card you're now ready to play Misfit Heroes is played over turns where you'll introduce variety of Heroes from the land of oberia to your grid paying their cost and activating their abilities your goal is to score the most points by the end of the game as then you'll become the hero representative of absera before we dive into the turn structure let's take a look at the hero cards you'll recruit heroes from your hand into your play area the Tableau each card will have a cost to recruit them in the top left on the left edge of the card there'll be a banner representing a faction which will sometimes affect various abilities in your Tableau there's three factions human beast and Misfit the top right of the cards is the points score at the end of the game now under the name there are two boxes the recruitment box and the activation box the top box is the recruitment box it'll trigger when you recruit a car to your Tableau or at the end of the game there's four different types of recruitment boxes Hearts will trigger as soon as you recruit the card for a triangle recruitment box to trigger you'll need to meet a specific condition which in turn will activate the activation box below the star recruitment box requires a fee when once you pay it you'll be able to activate the activation box below and finally the trophy will score you points at the end of the game now the activation box is the lower box it'll trigger often during Recruitment and you can trigger it later using other card abilities sometimes the recruitment box will affect the activation but it'll often just activate both hearts and trophy recruitment boxes lead to an activation of the activation box while triangle and star are conditional depending if you meet the specific conditions or pay a fee as discussed now that's the cards the game is played in turns on your turn you may carry out one of the four actions number one recruit a hero card you'll pick a card from your hand and pay the cost in the top left back to the supply once you've done so you'll place a card in your Tableau you're building a 4x4 grid your first card you place must be at the bottom left position and every card after that has to touch a card you've already placed orthogonally this means no diagonal placements after recruitment you'll activate the recruitment box and activation box as long as you fulfilled the star fee or met the triangle condition if there is one most cards are fairly straightforward I will draw your attention to the stun ability though when you stun a card you'll flip it face down it'll still occupy a slot in your grid but you may no longer activate it or use it for its Faction ability it will also not score you any points at the end of the game if you have any questions or comments about particular cards feel free to leave them in the comments down below or you can reference the terms and icons guide in the rule book the next action you can take is to draw cards you may discard any amount of cards from your hand prior to doing so you'll then draw two cards from the deck plus an additional card for each one you've discarded so if you discard five cards you'll draw seven if the hero deck ever Runs Out Of Cards you'll Shuffle the discard pile back into the main deck the next action is to gain an influence you can gain any one influence from the supply The Last Action you can take is gaining 10 coins from the supply once you've carried out one of the four main actions you may now discard six influence to claim one region there's two different ways to do this you'll discard six influence of the same color to claim the most valuable unclaimed region of that color or discard two of each of the three influence colors to claim the most valuable unclaimed purple City region tile you may only claim one region card per turn and each region tile will score you points at the end of the game based on its value once you have spent influence or opted not to You'll discard down to eight cards in your hand eight influence of each color and 80 coins if necessary play now passes to the left you'll keep playing taking turns building your Tableau of Heroes activating variety of abilities in order to score the most points when one player places their last hero in their TBL low the game comes to an end you'll finish the round so that all players have an equal number of turns and you're now ready to score you'll first add up the points from all of your region tiles and all of your hero cards from your Tableau you'll then receive one point for every influence you have left over and for every 10 coins you have left over who compare your scores and the player with the most points wins now the fun part at the end of the game you'll deal each player four cards you'll each now swap your transparent character cards around you may also swap additional cards or keep the deck the same it's really up to you this way the game will morph over time and you'll never know who you'll encounter in a Land of abs serdia and that's Misfit Heroes well you have the best crew of Misfits I don't know about you
