Transcript 1:01:24

In Ringo, you take the role of a feudal lord in Japan in the 1600s. You will oversee your own personal province using skilled samurai as well as local artisans and villagers to sustainably harvest the forests of your land. Please keep in mind this is a sponsored video. The publisher Pverson Games paid me to make this video to show you how Ringo plays because it is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. Click the link in the description to learn more. Also note this is a preview prototype copy of the game, so rules and components are not yet finalized. Since this game has a theme of sustainability, Pverson Games is striving to make as many components as possible from sustainable or recycled materials. For example, the trees in the final production will not be plastic, but instead made out of eco-friendly alternatives that use shredded wood residue with recycled binding materials.

You can check out the crowdfunding campaign for more information. A link is in the description below. Now, as you can see, I have everything set up for the solo game. I'm going to make a point of describing both the multiplayer game and the solo game because the two differ pretty dramatically in several different areas. I went ahead and I set up my province board using this card right here. Each province board is a little bit different and has a special card to show you how to set up. And this is kind of where the overhead camera is going to let us down. These are different trees of different heights. So, we have four different types of trees. I believe it is cyprress, oak, the dark green is pine, and the yellow is beach. I think something like that.

And these can be stacked up to a max height of five. So, you can see I have a three beach tree here. Here we have a two oak. So, that's going to be pretty hard to see from the overhead camera. I'll try to make the sizes clear as I go along. We also start with some flooded areas here. We then have our forestry track board and our structures board. Up here is where we're going to track our rice. These are the different buildings we can build. We have our diplomat cards going one to six. And we start with two yellow samurai, a random forest card, and a Shogun's favor card. In the solo game, the Shogun's Favor card works a little bit differently. In the multiplayer game, we'd actually get two, look at them, and select one to keep. For the solo game, we can just keep it face down. Uh, it's going to be more of a resource for us rather than, you know, a card that we'll use. I've then set up the forecast card, the weather cards.

I've shuffled up the Shogun's gift cards and dealt out three. In a multiplayer game, you're going to deal out one per person. And here's the big difference between the solo and the multiplayer. These are the Shogun demand tiles. In the multiplayer game, you'll start with two of these revealed on this track. And every round, you're going to deal out two more. You're going to go over five rounds. So, you're going to have 10 of these dealt out at the end of the game. In the solo game, you don't do that. Instead, you take eight of them at random, and you create this circular pattern. Now, the final game is going to come with a solo board and a deck of solo cards. Those solo components were not included in the preview prototype copy. All I have are the digital assets.

So, what I'm going to attempt to do is I'm going to attempt to project them here. And as I'm drawing cards, I'll just pick them at random. and I will when I'm editing project them here. The board itself is not that important. It's really just the cards that are important. So, what we're going to do is we would take that solo deck of cards, shuffle it, place it face up here, and then draw the top card and place it to the right. So, here in the middle, we would have one card on the right. That would be the active card. The deck on the left is showing what the next available card is going to be. So, it's giving you a little heads up. These cards in the middle are solo goals that are going to score us points if we complete them at the end of the game.

And these tiles around here are the Shogun's demands. And these are also goals that we want to complete, but we can do it throughout the game at any time. So, for example, this one down here, it just says share forestry knowledge. So here, anytime during the game, we can discard two research tokens. These are called right there. And that will fulfill this demand. And then we'll just place a marker there to show that we fulfilled it in the middle slot. But it's not quite that easy. We're going to use one of these yellow samurai tokens. It's going to start in the middle. So we'll place it right there. when we complete one of these face up demands and we can't complete the face down ones yet. So, we have to complete one of these face up demands.

So, let's say we did complete this one. The samurai would move to here. Any adjacent faceown demands will get flipped face up. So, that's how we flip these face up. And then we'll have to accomplish a demand that is adjacent to the samurai. So, either this one or this one. or we can complete the goal that's in the middle. That will then move the samurai back to the middle, at which point it's adjacent to all the demands. When the samurai is in the middle, you can't complete one of the solo goals. You have to complete one of the shogun demands. So, let's actually show which two cards are there in the middle. So, so our active card is going to be this one, which is basically we need to have at least 12 trees that are at least two high. So, just right now starting out, we have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. So, that one won't be too hard to complete if we really want to. And the card that's on the top of the deck, which is just going to be the next card that's available, is this one. This means we need to have two artisan workers. There are four different types of workers. There's the artisans, the villagers in blue, the yellow samurai, and then the green samurai. I'll explain the difference between the workers as we play, but I really want to get started. So, let's just jump on in. As I said, the game

lasts five rounds. And in each round, we start with the Edo Council phase. In the multiplayer game, everyone would secretly choose one of their diplomat cards to play and then reveal simultaneously. This is how you would choose turn order with the highest number going first. Then in turn order, they would choose which of the emperor bonus cards they take. Oh, by the way, these are not here. In the solo game, it works differently. If we choose the one or the two diplomat, then we have to take this first card furthest to the right. If we choose a three and a four, we can choose between the middle card and the rightmost card. And a five and a six, we can choose between any of the cards. I think I want this middle card. So, I'm going to choose either my three or my four. Now, these cards also give us a little bonus.

So, the three would give us three rice and the four would give us a villager. I think I'll take the three rice. So, I'm going to play this card. That goes away. We can mark our rice right here. So, we start with five. We'll get three more. And I'm going to take this bonus, which is an artisan. So, we can add that worker to our two yellow samurai. These other two cards can be discarded.

And now we can jump straight into the next phase, which is the province phase. This is the meat of the game where we get to take all of our actions on our board. And the cool thing is in a multiplayer game, everyone can play this phase at the same time. Everyone's going to be taking all their actions simultaneously. Now, this is a worker placement game. And so we have our workers here and where we place them are at the intersection of these spaces of these different areas. Workers can only go at the point that's touching three different spaces. So like right there would be a good spot or even right here. That spot is touching three different spaces. That means that you can't go on a spot that's on the outside, like right here. That's only touching two spaces, right? That corner there. So, let's say I went here.

Now, depending on which worker you place there, you'll get to do an action in one, two, or all three of the spaces. If you use just a regular villager, you can see it just has one mark on it. It can only do an action in one of the spaces. the artisan and the yellow samurai. It can do an action in two of the spaces. And then the green samurai is the best. They can do an action in all three spaces. Now, what's great about the samurai is you get to keep them from round to round. When you take an action with a villager or an artisan, you have to discard them at the end of the round. There are eight total actions that we can take in each region. They're all right here on our handy dandy little player aid. Four of the actions can be done with any worker, and those are like the most basic actions. So, the first thing I could do is I could plant. So, let's say I place my worker here, and then I could target this area here that's empty, and I could just plant a tree that matches the color of the area.

Keep in mind, you can do that in an empty space or in a flooded space. So, we could take this flooded space over here and we could plant a tree, which would remove the flood token. Another thing you can do is grow a tree. So, I could target this space right here and just turn it from a size two to a size three tree. The third basic action I could take is to cut a tree. So, I could target this one or this one and just remove the entire tree and place it over here. This is where we place the trees that we have cut down. You want to make sure that you keep it together. And then the fourth basic action that you could take is to harvest. So, one thing we'll be able to do is to turn flooded areas into rice patties. And if you have a rice patty there, and let's say I had my worker here, I could target that area and take an action in order to get a rice. So those are the four sort of basic actions that you can take with any worker. There are two additional actions that you can take with any of the workers other than a villager. So it has to be an artisan or one of the two samuris. The first is to create a rice patty like I just talked about. So if we were here, we could target this area and turn it into a rice patty. Has to be a flooded area. The second action that we can do, which again a villager cannot do, is to build

one of our houses. So, we have this grid of 12 houses. You have to start here on this bottom row, and you can see below each house, it shows what you need in order to build it, and then how many victory points it'll be worth at the end. In this case, victory points are honor points or HP. So you can see here we would need one cyprress and one oak in order to build this house right here. And it would be worth one honor point at the end of the game. Now you get this wood from when you cut, right? So if you cut and you have the wood here, this is the wood that you're going to be spending in order to build these houses. So you would just pay that wood and then you'd take the house and then you'd put it out. A house can come in two varieties. You can either build a fortress or you can build a farm.

Fortresses would go on an empty space. So we could build a fortress right here. And you don't place that token. Instead, you grab one of these tokens. And on one side it shows a fortress which looks like that. Or you can build a farm on a rice patty. So if we already had a rice patty here, we could again target the rice patty, build, spend our wood, and then place a farm on top. And in this case, when we harvest it, instead of getting one rice, we'll get two. Now, fortresses, they'll actually produce this token here.

These are military tokens. These military tokens have two uses. One, we can use them to fulfill some of these demands. So, like one of our demands here wants us to discard three of these military tokens. There's a seventh action that you can take that can only be done by one of the two samuris, and that is called mustering. To muster, you would just target a spot with a fortress. This would only be done if you're targeting a spot with a fortress, and you can just generate two military tokens. The eighth and final action, which again can only be done by a samurai, is called study. And study involves this board right here, our forestry board. If you take a closer look, you can see our marker starts here and we have these lines. So, we're attached to sort of this spot here, this spot here, or that spot there. So, when you study, you can target a spot with some trees. And if it matches the exact type and size that's shown on either the left or the right, so you have two options to match. then you're able to move into that spot and get the bonus that's shown in the middle here. It wants a size one pine or a size one cyprus. So if we were to come here, we could target this spot right there, study, and then we can move over to here. And

then on a future action, we would need either a size two pine or a size one beach. And then we can move up there. And you can sort of keep going up this track. Now, here, right here in the middle, you can see that's white. That means it can be any type, but it needs to be a size two. So, yeah, we could come back to this spot. We could study this tree right here, go all the way up to there because it's a size two. Now, once we get past this line here at the end of the game, every one of our trees that is at least size four, and again, they can go up to a max of size five, they're going to score one point. If we reach up here, any tree that is three or higher will score a point. And these are cumulative. So, a size four tree, if we were to get up to here, would be worth two points. And then if you reach the very top, anything size two or higher is worth a point. So then our size three would be worth two points and our size four would be worth three points. So that's what the forestry track is all about.

Now, in addition to those eight actions that we can take, there's also five special actions that you can take whenever you want. They don't require a worker. It's just something that you can do between taking actions. The first thing is to split up a tree that you've already cut down. So, let's say we cut that down. As a free action, we could split it into a size two and a size one. And we could even split it further if we wanted to have three size ones. Now, if you want to join them together, you can, but it's going to cost you a rice. So, we could spend a rice and then we could join this, make it a size three. It obviously has to be the same type of tree to do that.

We can also spend two rice at any time in order to hire a villager. And in fact, I'm going to do that. So, we're going to spend two rice, get ourselves a villager. And we can do that as many times as we want. Another thing we can do is expand. To do that, we have to spend three military tokens. That would let us draw two tiles from that stack. I won't flip them over, but we'll then pick one of them and then we can add them to our board. There's a couple different places that we can add. So, there's eight spots that we can add these to. So, it's 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. We can add to any of those spots. Oh, timber.

And that's a way we can just sort of expand our board. The last special action that we can take is we can spend one of these uh research tokens in order to take a peek at one of the weather cards. We'll discuss the weather cards when we get there. Okay, so that's all the actions that we can take. We can begin. I think I want to start out by doing some studying. So, I have to use one of my samuris. I'm gonna put them right here. So, that's adjacent to three different spots. Oh my goodness. This second time I've knocked down these trees.

There we go. So, I can pick two of these regions to do actions in. I'm going to start and take an action in that one and study. And right here, this one wants that one beach. So, boom. and we're going to move in there. And our reward is two research. There we go. So, I've taken an action here. I'm now going to take an action here. And I'm going to turn this flooded land into a rice patty. You can only take one action in each space. So, I can't take, you know, two actions in a single space. And there we go. That's what that worker did. Now I want to take my other samurai, put them right here.

I'm going to start by researching in this spot. That's two beach, which we need right here. So we'll get to move up. You can't move back. You have to continue moving forward along these lines. Our reward is going to be to peak at one of the weather cards. I'll just keep it face up since we're playing a solo game. Now, these weather cards are going to show what areas are getting flooded and what trees are going to grow, things like that. When we get to that phase, I'll walk you through it. In this case, that's showing a B. And we're going to look at our forecast card. In this case, because we're in the year of the Cyprus, the B represents one of these oak sections, the the orange section. So that means each orange area is going to get rain. That means this tree is going to grow. This empty space is going to get flooded. That tree is going to grow. That tree is going to grow. And this space is going to get doubly flooded. Now when a space gets doubly flooded, the flood waters move down. So that means it's either going to flood this section or this section. And to figure out which one, we just again look at the forecast. Those cypress areas are more favored. So it's going to flood right here. When those flood waters come down, it actually wipes out anything that's in that location. So if

we had built a building there, farm or fortress, or there were trees or stuff there, it would completely destroy them. Now we can see there's nothing there. So maybe we're okay with the flood waters going down there. Either way, that's good information to have. So that was my first action right here. My second action is going to be to study this tree, which happens to be what the next space needs. And our reward is going to be an artisan. So there we go. Now we have a few more workers that we can use. We'll only be able to use them this round, but that's okay. That also means I can't do any more studying because I have to have a um samurai to study. These guys can't do that. But what I do think I want to do is I want to fulfill this demand. Again, in the solo game, you can do this anytime. So, we're going to move the samurai down here. All we have to do is spend our two research tokens.

We can fulfill this. it goes into the middle slot. So, at the end of the game, we're getting those three points that are there in the middle slot. It also means that we can flip these two over. So, this one is just pay seven rice and that one is four research tokens. And now that the samurai is down here, that means that we can fulfill the goal that's in the middle if we want to. So, what are we trying to do in this solo game? How do we win? Well, we're trying to meet a target score. And that target score is going to depend on how many of these demands we fulfill. Ideally, we'd be able to fulfill all eight of these demands. Because for each one that we fulfill, our target score is going to go up by 10. But for every demand that we fail to fulfill, our target score goes up by 20. Our target score also goes up by double the value of our remaining diplomat. So if we use all of our diplomats other than the six, then that's going to double that's going to increase our target score by 12. So let's say we complete seven of these eight demands. That's going to go to 70.

The one that we didn't fulfill, that's adding 20. So that would be 90. And then if we don't do this five, that would be five times 210. That would be 100. Our target score would be 100. And then we would score points for, you know, our trees, depending on how high we get up on this track, for our buildings that we've built, for the demands that we fulfilled, for the solo goals. Each one of those is worth four points. We'd have to add all that up. And if it was 100 or more in that case, in that example, then we would win. So that's what we're trying to do. Now, I think I want to do something a little cheeky here. I want to spend this card. In the solo game, we use these cards as a resource. We can discard one in order to discard the active solo goal.

using those cards are the only way that we can skip a solo goal. So, I'm going to skip the 12 trees that are two or more high. We're going to get rid of that. The left card now becomes our active goal, the one that says have two artisans, and we're going to have a new goal on deck. This goal is to have three trees of any type that are three size or taller and in a continuous horizontal line. So that's interesting. We could sort of do that here or even right here. We're pretty close to that. Or we could just build up three right there and then we'd have 3 three. But here's the cool thing. We have two artisans right now in our supply. So we can actually fulfill that middle goal. Again, the middle is adjacent to everything. We're going to complete that goal. So, we're going to hold on to that one. That's going to be four points at the end of the game. The other one's going to move over. We're going to get a new goal on deck. This one is simply to have three farms anywhere in our province. So, now that we're in the middle, again, we can't fulfill one of these goals. We have to go out to one of these other spaces.

Maybe we want to cut and build a little bit. Okay, I think I'll use this villager here to cut these. We're going to cut that. Actually, no. No. Let's come over here and cut these.

Then I'm going to spend two rice to get another villager. Gonna have this villager come uh come here and cut that.

I now have what I need in order to build this. And so I think maybe we'll come right here and do that. So these can be discarded. Boom. Now, if I wanted to, I could build a uh a farm right there, but instead I really want to get a fortress down. And now I could harvest. That's not a terrible idea. But no, I think I'm just going to uh grow. So, we're going to grow that from a one to a two tree. And lastly, I want to go either here or here. Maybe there.

Because I want to turn that into a rice patty and probably grow that. Yeah, we'll go ahead and grow this. Now I have enough rice to get another villager. Yeah, I want to do that. I want to get one more villager. I'd have enough rice to get two more villagers, but I want to go here because I want to plant rather than let this place flood. Let's get a tree in there. We know the rain's coming there and then it'll grow. I think I'm going to save the rest of my uh rice. And that's it. That's going to be all the actions that I take. So, we now go to the weather phase. And the first thing that happens is you get a military token for every one of your fortresses.

That's going to give us one. And then we just go down the weather cards one at a time from top to bottom. The first one we know it's B. We look at our forecast. B is oak. So first every oak tree is going to grow by one. So that goes from a two to a three, one to a two, three to a four, and a two to a three. Now, every rice patty on an oak space generates a rice. So boom, get a rice. And then if there were any empty or flooded regions, those would get a flood token. And like I said, if you have a double flood, it goes down, right? Don't have any of that. So, we're done.

Oh, we got oak again. Crazy. The oak trees are really exploding. We have a four, a three, a five. So, maximum height and a four. And get another rice.

So, we weren't expecting that, but that's going to be fine. We have two beach and we have three places here that are going to get flood tokens. So, we have a flood flood and now we have a double flood. So, it's going to move down. But luckily, when it's on this bottom place, it just sort of flows out and goes away. So, no damage done. That's the weather phase. It's that simple. The final phase is the shogun demand phase, which we don't have in the solo game. Right. In the multiplayer game, you would go around in turn order fulfilling the demands. In the solo game, we can fulfill these demands any time during the game. So, we don't actually have a Shogun demand phase. At the end of the round, we have a little bit of cleanup to do. So, all of these villagers that we used and the artisans, they go back into the supply.

We get our samurai back. We reveal three of these again.

Now, when you get one of these cards, you draw it out. So, if we select that one, that will be the forest card that we get. And for this one, we reveal two tiles. Two beach tiles. Okay, we now discard the top forecast. So now we have a new forecast. We're going to shuffle up all of the weather cards again and then put three out. So you don't discard those. You shuffle up the entire deck each time.

And that's it. That's the end of round one. We go to round two. I think I want those two villagers. So, I am going to play this six. Now, this is the highest card and it actually comes with a penalty. You have to discard two rice. So, we're really low on rice, but I'm getting that six out of my hand. So, hopefully we can play some of these higher cards. We'll have a lower target score at the end. So, I'm going to take that and get two villagers. I mean, in a sense, I got two villagers for the cost of two rice rather than four rice. So, that's not too bad. And boom, we're right back to taking actions. Now, one thing I know I want to do is to bolster the military. I want to fulfill that demand. So, I'm going to have to take one of my samurai. I'm going to do a muster.

I'll then fulfill this by spending those three. These two are adjacent, so we can flip them. So we can see our entire board now. Woo. Need lots of rice. I am going to cut. We're going to cut those. That's my second action. That's all I get. I definitely want to do some study. Tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to come here. Oops.

We'll just do a one villager action right here to plant or to grow. So, we're growing. And now, look at that. Boom. We have three three level trees in a row. So, we can come down here into the middle. We can fulfill that solo goal. The three farm goal moves over and we're going to get another one on deck. Ooh, this one is to have zero flooded regions. That's a tough one. That's a tough one. So, I definitely want to build some farms. What can I cut down? I can cut down. Let's go here and let's cut this down.

And we're going to do those special actions that we can do. I'm going to cut one off of that one, one off that one. We're going to go right there. And now we're going to build a farm. And we're going to do this one. So that's just a one and a one. Get that farm on there. And I haven't really explained this yet, but you know, when you build one of these, you then open up the next level. So now we can build this one if we want. And then once we build this one, we could build the top row. And you get benefits when you clear off either whole rows or whole columns. And you can see those benefits on the side there. So if we were to build this entire row, we'd get an extra yellow samurai.

I think all we want to do here is turn this into a nice rice patty. One thing we could do is we do have the stuff for this. Remember, we're in the middle here. So, we're adjacent to everything. We could discard this in order to build an eido, you know, any two-le tree, any three-level tree, and complete that. I'm not going to do that right now. I'm going to hold off on that, but it's definitely something that I'm thinking about. Okay, I have two more rice. I could get one more villager. Is there one action I'd like to take? I could plant though. Yeah, I think I will actually. So, I'm going to do that.

I'm going to come right here. I want to plant on there because if that were to flood, it might flood that tree and knock it down. But we can plant on a flooded area and get rid of it. That's it. So now we're going to go to weather.

All right, that's an A. So it's the year of the beach. So the beach, these two are going to grow. Those are now both level fours. These two are going to flood and move down. So, no harm. And then that's going to give us one rice.

Oh, no. Oak. So, we have that is now at a level five. That's a four. This can't grow anymore. So, it's at its max height. This is going to get flooded. And this is going to give us a rice. Oo, it's a very good thing that I planted there because we're at pine. Oh, and I forgot I do have one fortress. So, I do get one military token just automatically. That just happens at the beginning of each weather phase. So, that's going to be a two. This is going to grow to a four. is also going to grow to a two and this is gonna flood.

Nothing happens to the fortress that just stays. Okay, so we're pretty rice poor. We need to do something about that. So, there we go. That's the end of round two. I will get everything set up for round three. Okay, we're ready for round three. And look at that. That would let us flip two flooded regions into rice patties. That sounds really great. So, I'm going to play my four. I could play the five. No, I want to play the four because that's going to give me a villager. I'm going take that. I want to flip that one and that one. Once again, we're in the year of the beach, so hopefully those two will get hit. And now we're ready to go. And I want to do some big time building. So, what are we going to cut?

I think we're going to go here and we're going to cut this. For free action, we can split it two to two because it was a four. And now I can actually build two buildings. I have the stuff to build that and to build that. Well, if I placed question is how much cutting do I want to do? Oh, I know. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let's go here because now I can build here and let's build this one. So that's going to be three oak, two pine.

Get out our second farm. And then I want to study this because we're going to move into here into this middle. It just has to be a size two of anything. That's going to give us another forestry card.

So, this one says we can pay four military tokens to upgrade one of our gold samurai into a green samurai. We also have this one here that says we can pay three research tokens in order to do the same thing. Both of those are awesome. That's actually really good because we could, you know, give us something to use our military tokens for rather than just expanding. You can also discard these in order to get two food. So, this is another way you could get some food. And we might end up doing that to one of these just so we can get a few more workers out. This is tough because we can't we can't even go this way right now. We don't have a two or a three oak. All of our oaks are huge. I do want to build another farm, though.

Let's get a villager. We got to get a bunch of rice. I feel like I want to cut down that. It's a level five oak. And I think I'm just coming over here. I'm gonna build a farm. Right here. So, two and two. I'll go right there. And we'll flip this over to a rice. I do have three rice uh I mean three farms now, but we're in the middle.

So, I need to fulfill one of these and then I can go back in. I could split this. You know what? I will do that. I will do that. I'm going to split that. So, now I have a two and a three of any type. So, I can come over here and fulfill that.

And then I can go back into the middle to fulfill that three rice. The zero flooded region moves over and there's our next card. Three trees of any type at least three high in kind of a diagonal. So, we're close to that here. We build that up. All right. All right. It's tricky. We don't have We've kind of overforested a little bit. I think we're going to have to do some planting because both of those would flood. Maybe we want to put a tree in there. And there's a good chance this could flood. Okay, I tell you what. I'm going to discard this for two rice. And then we'll spend it to get one more. And I think I want to plant.

But where? Yeah, let's play the percentages. We'll go here and plant there. Or I could just get rid of this flood. No, let's let's plant there.

Time for the weather beach. Okay, this is good. That goes up one. That goes up one. So, both of those are now five. And it's rice time. We're getting two, four, five rice. That's what we needed.

Oh, an unlikely C came out, which is not what we were hoping for. This goes up one. So, that's now two. This is now four. We are getting two rice but two floods. That's not what we wanted. Oh no. And then a B. Okay. Well, we did plant. So, it is good that we planted. That becomes a three. That becomes a three. That becomes a two. Nothing there. Although I do keep forgetting to get my one thing there and one rice. So, we now have eight rice.

That's good. Okay, that's it. Time for round four. I don't know if this is a good idea, but I'm going to use my five. No reward, but I want to get this card. I'm going to play it. It says to remove up to three flood tokens from your province. One, two, three. I'm now going to come down here. We're going to fulfill this. Pay seven rice. That gets us down to one rice.

But now we can go back into the middle to fulfill that solo goal. No floods. So, we're going to score that one. So, this one's have five villagers in your province. That's going to be hard. We're in a bit of a pickle here. We just don't have much. I'm going to come here and I'm going to do a double cut. Cut and cut.

I'm going to take two off that one and one off that one. And then we're going to build. I think I'm going to build here. So, we'll build this one.

another farm. That's going to cost one and two. And now that we've completed that, boom, we get another samurai. So, with this four and a three, I could come over here. I could build an Eido. I think I'm going to discard this to get two rice. Spend two rice to get a villager. This villager is going to come up here and plant.

We're going to come there. That's four and three. We'll then go back into the middle. We now have that solo goal right there. So, we score that one. Ooh. Okay. The one on deck is have just have five buildings, which we have. One, two, three, four, five. We'd have to get rid of the active one. That's the problem. To get that one over. Now, I could put this guy here. So, what we can do is we can research that, right? That's three cyprus, which is what we need.

Boom. Get one of these cards. So, that's great. Unfortunately, I can't research anymore, but I can cut. Let's cut. We'll cut here.

Okay, not good. We're done. We're going to need some really good weather here or we're kind of screwed. A a that goes to four. This goes to five. We get only two food. and two flood.

Hey again. That is really bad. Two food. That as high as it can go. That's five. And these two are now flooding because we have two on them. So what happens? Well, it's either going to this one's either going to flood into this one or this one. We look at what's uh you know the higher priority. It's this one. So it floods and that gets destroyed. And then here, same deal. It's going to choose this one. We just had two of our farms get destroyed.

Wow. And now B, that came in the wrong order. Oh, so we miss out on all of that food. We would have gotten four more food there, but we only get one. That's as tall as it can go.

That gets flooded. That gets flooded, but it just goes down. This gets flooded and it goes here and destroys all that wood. Well, there you go. That's a prime example of what not to do. I should have gotten one of those also at the beginning of the weather phase. Boy, we are in some serious trouble here. Let's go to the fifth and final round and see if we can do anything to salvage this. Okay, I'm going to play this two. All we can get is that, but that's pretty good. We're going to get an artisan and two villagers.

We've got a lot of workers for once. Problem is, we got devastated. We're in big trouble. I really wanted to move up this board, but we are stuck because that's a five and we need a two or a three. So, we kind of did a bad job of moving up this board. We also got kind of screwed here because now we only have three buildings and I don't think we can build two more in order to complete that. If we want to pay that, we could. We just need to harvest a couple of times. The problem is if we do that, we need to come back into the middle in order to be able to come over here.

Maybe we could build this. We're going to struggle to build two buildings. Okay, I think I have a little bit of a plan here. It's not great, but it's the best we can do. Let's go here and plant

and we'll come here and grow. Now we'll go here. We will study. So we can move up here. Get two research tokens. And then here that's a three level. So we can study again. And we'll get to look at two of these cards.

B and A. Okay. I'm not sure how that's going to really help me right now, but that's okay. What I'm going to do is I'm going to come over here. And once again, I'm going to study. That's exactly what we need to go right here.

Get three of these. And I'm going to spend four. Boom. to complete that. And then for my second action, I'm going to cut all these. Now for the insane part, we're going to go one, two, one, two, one, two. We're going to get three villagers.

So there we go. Oh, I now have five villagers in my province. So, I can move back into the middle. We can complete that goal. We're going to get another one. Oh, that is lucky. Up on deck is have three yellow andor green samurai in your province, which we do. Wow. Okay, so here's what we're going to do. We're now going to come over and we're going to fulfill this. That needs a five and a four of any type. There's five. There's four.

We've completed that. Whoops. That should be in the middle. Now we're going to play this card to skip the active goal. We're going to get rid of that one. This one we just got moves over. Woo. So, this one's hard. Have five trees that are five tall. We definitely don't have that, but we can now move into the middle and we can get this goal because we have three yellow samurai. And the next one doesn't matter. It's have nine trees that are three or more tall. Definitely not going to have that. But look at this. We've completed seven of the eight. We're definitely not going to be able to get nine uh rice because we're at zero rice right now. But that's not so bad. And we have a ton of workers still. So, it seems like we might be able to build some things.

Unfortunately, we have completely devastated our province. This is not the kind of sustainable forest practices that this game is intended to champion. I'm going to need some food. So, let's come here and get two food. So, both of these folks can build, but I can put them there and we can do a cut. And we can do a cut. Oh, well that's annoying. Actually, I can't do that one because I would have to do this one first.

So, we need some cyprress. Maybe I'm not going to cut there. Well, no, we'll still cut. I just got to grow some cyprress and then do like I could do a cut here. So, let's grow.

And you know what? I'm not going to cut here. I'm going to grow. So, instead of cutting there, I cut and then I grow. Here I'm growing. Here I'm growing.

And then here I'm going to cut. And then here I'm going to build another farm. This one. So I have to cut one of those off. That will build that one. That's a farm there. And I didn't mention this either, but up here on these top ones, when you get both sides, you can get a little bonus. So, in this case, it's just look at the last card. Okay. Doesn't really matter for us.

And there we go. I think that is it. Actually, I have two food left. Let's go here. Oh, wait a minute. Sorry. I forgot. I don't have two food left. Cuz when you build in this row up here, you can see there it costs a food. And then if you build in this second area, the second uh row, it costs two food. And this top row costs three food. So it's very expensive to build up here. These two rows doesn't cost anything to build. So that should have actually cost me a food. So I only have one food left. So I am done. Woo. Okay. So weather. Now a lot of this isn't going to really matter, but some of it will.

So B, this is going to flood into here, destroying this This is going to grow. That'll be one one rice. Okay, these are all growing.

Also getting one of those. Getting two more rice. That's it. And then oak. Flooded. Flooded. Flooded. Flooded. Oh, flooded here. Oh, shoot. Which is then going to flood this and that's going to be gone away. That's too bad. But that just cost us one point. That's not too big of a deal. Okay. So, a lot of our a lot of our area would be flooded, but that's not going to really matter. So, let's figure out our target score that we need. We got seven of these, so that's going to be 10 points for each of those. That's 70. We missed one, so that's 20.

That's going to be 90. And then we double this. It's a 1 * 2, that's two. So, our target score is 92. First, we add up the points for all of the demands that we fulfilled. That all adds up to 43 points. We get four points for every solo goal that we fulfilled. We fulfilled seven of them. So, that's 28 points. Then, we get points for the buildings that we built. We built all the cheap ones. 1 2 3 4 5 six. That's 21 points. And then we get points for trees in our province based on how far we went up the forestry track. So all we did was we managed to cross this. So every tree that's four or more tall is worth one point. We only have two of those. This one's only three. So that's two more points. When you add all of that up, that's 94 points. So we managed to beat our target score of 92 by just two points. And that's a victory. Now, I'm very surprised that we won that, but keep in mind that there are ways to increase the difficulty that will be in the final game. So, we were playing on normal difficulty there. And there you have it.

That was a complete solo game of Ringo. If that looked interesting to you, please remember to click the link in the description below to check out the Kickstarter page. Well, that's going to do it for me. Until next time, thank you so much for watching and goodbye.
