Kill Chain (D+) Final Grade - Why This Cyberpunk Game Got a D+

Let's get into a final grade. Do I want it? This is a hard one. Anytime you've actually physically played the game, it's it's hard and I enjoyed it. It's hard for me to say no, but I don't feel like it was sold well. Going back to that video, it is just

What you get for one

so fast and it's just bam bam bam bam computer take things stuff and and and part of the reason why I feel like this video does such a disservice to the game is because the game itself is kind of a big sandboxy style game in just the choices you can make. You can win by purchasing cards and really focusing on cards. There's jobs and there's jobs that are long-term and short-term and there's different strategies with different jobs and and it's just every game is going to be its own different thing and it's just I I don't feel like that video was was the way to really convey it. Um which stinks. So, do I want it? Maybe. Cuz honestly, at the end of the day, pre-deluxified I I think we need to use those words a lot more here. $100 $100 I'm in. How much is it? Feels fine at the $100 level.

And then the $200 level feels it feels Kickstarter reasonable, but I don't feel like you sold it nearly as well as you could have and that's just and you even have great shots to spotlight. I would just zoom in on them more. Right? Like I I mentioned it in there. Like the fact that I didn't know that an expansion had dual layered boards. You know, it's it's just a little thing, but I really should know that. So, how much is it? First pledge fine, second pledge okay, and then the third pledge, the really cool needo speedo one, which we could have led in with and just pulled off the band-aid and said a $500 price, but instead we're like three paragraphs. I need you to read these three paragraphs and then I can tell you the $500 price.

And 60 downloadable replayable missions, but still it's it's kind of like the focus on this instead of that like I don't feel like it was sold very well. And that's unfortunate and I feel like a personal touch or I feel like there was a lot of little things that could have been done and a couple big things that could have been done and it's here and it's cool and hopefully this gets us traction and more people get into it, but I don't think it's a great sign when your first, you know, 31 backers who are going to be your most loyal fans and only 10% of them are like, "All right, let's go on this wild crazy ride. Take my $500 right now." Right? Um and that sucks. That sucks to say. Do I want it?

Maybe. Can you do it? Yeah, I'm not worried about that one. Well, actually, you know what? I got to look at this. I wasn't worried about it until we started bundling in hologram machines, right? Like the standard version, I'm not worried. Follow the demand studios, they'll get you that no problem. The the the deluxe version, which has the three expansions, yeah, I've had two of those expansions on my table. I know they're going they can get those to you. Now, the hologram machine, now that's a whole different thing. That's a you just threw a piece of tech in there and when you and it's just when you're throwing in a piece of tech and futuristic tech and merging it with your game, I I just I I the can you do it it scares me.

It does because I'm worried if this just barely crosses the finish line, like what's the minimum print run you need on I guess I don't know the cost the I don't know. Photo grades all over the board. So, do I want it? Maybe. I don't feel like the main image I don't feel like this particular marquee. I feel like mentioning these things work replacement deck builder asymmetric factions corporate hacking is the theme mobile activation cuz those are good, but I just feel like this main image does not do this a great disservice. I feel like this main image just does doesn't just it a disservice. I feel like the video does it a disservice just with how quick it goes. I I feel like past that not spotlighting the I guess man C- minus D plus range I think.

No. Is there's a rule booklet. There is not a full game play. There is not a solo game play. There is not a how to play. There's a not a lot of those things that you expect there to be here. I should have shot an unboxing apparently. Especially Yeah. Oh boy. It's yeah, I think it's um

D plus. Yeah. I I think that's I think that's where I fall on it. Just I think not spotlighting the pedigree nearly enough early and and just just mainly, you know, I need more on this main image. I need something cuz right now it is just here's my name again. Here is this this generic looking thing. Here's generic looking character. It's just here's generic looking cyberpunky things everywhere. And it doesn't ooze anything except for generic from the outside. And and that's sucks. That sucks, I think. And so yeah, I think it a D plus.

Yeah. My name is Cosmos your friendly neighborhood for Kill Chain. And if you enjoy the content or if this looks more interesting, please be sure to click on the subscribe button down below or check out the Kickstarter link down below. I don't know why I felt the need to merge those two. I was hoping this would be a better grade. But either way, I will say that this game is it it it does do really cool stuff. Like there's a whole bunch of cards and there's like a biro that's constantly changing and it really like specific cards can really impact your strategy. It's it's very neat. Highly recommend you check it out. Give it the time of day. Go pick through everything. See if it might be for you. Tomb Bowyer's Game Quarter signing off. Bye-bye. And if you have a suggestion for an upcoming Kickstarter critique, please be sure to list it in the comments below. Bye-bye.
