hello everybody my name is Ilia and my name is Tyler together makeup c a couple that loves to play board games and today we'll be telling you about Chronicles of light Darkness Falls this game is designed by Pam walls and it's published by Robins bergger who helped sponsor this video now in Chronicles of light there has been an incident a wartex has been open and shadows of Disney villains have appeared but on the other end there's been a light and all of a sudden the heroes have emerged from various universes to defeat the vortex and the Shadows which is what you'll be doing in this game now with all that said let's go to the table and let's give you an overview of how the game works you'll start off by setting up you'll choose your hero build your play area prepare the shadows and the Darkness cards obtain your quests and get ready to take actions in the action board in Chronicles of light you'll work together to complete your quests defeat the Shadows that have appeared in the realm and destroy the vortex you'll need to do this in a Time L Manner and with health remaining otherwise the darkness will claim the realm of light now there's no turns in this game the leader will help the group decide which action tokens to play this means one player may take multiple actions in a row if that indeed helps your whole team there are many ways to win so fear not of making the wrong choice now when taking an action a player will place their action token onto the main board each player will start with four to use and one that is locked which will be unlocked once their Quest Quest is completed action tokens

generally help you move across the board and or heal now you'll need to move to battle the Shadows on the board and to complete your quests Quest cards will give you instructions on how to complete them and you can often help each other in order to complete them in the most efficient way here are a few examples of the quests now while you're completing quests Shadow villains will certainly get in your way before moving out of the space or interacting with any Quest tokens all sh present in the location must be defeated to battle all heroes in the space will roll all their dice each battling player can choose to roll any selected or all the dice one time you'll see hits and damage on the die faces hits are all added together and if the value is equal to or greater than the Shadow's strength it's defeated you'll turn the token over to reveal light now if a shadow is not defeated the hits do not accumulate meaning you'll need to do the damage in one battle you can choose to try again or wait for another her to join before battling and win or lose the hero will lose one Health per damage roll from their own dice now if you reach zero Health you'll move your team Health token down one spot you then must use an action to heal before you can move battle or play any other action tokens you can also choose to battle the wartex which is probably a good idea as if it's weakened Darkness cards will have less of an impact on your game playay The Vortex is battled in the same way as Shadow villains but it Mak may not be defeated until you've completed your quests and defeated all the shadow

villains on the board now you'll keep playing until all six action tokens have been placed or if you decide to end the day as you don't wish to play more actions you'll start a new day by Taking Back all your action tokens revealing a card from the darkness deck and passing the leader badge clockwise Darkness cards will summon additional Shadow villain and move the vortex across various locations on the map if it's not weakened if it's weekend you'll activate the bottom effect of the card instead after the effects you'll continue playing the new day taking actions as Guided by Your Leader you'll keep playing until you completed all your quests defeated all the Shadows on the board and gathered all together on the space of the warart Tex and defeated it by Rolling the weakened value or higher or of course if you've lost which happens when you cannot reveal a Darkness card at the start of the day or if you reach the last spot on the team Health Track and that's Chronicles of light Darkness Falls will Your Heroes defeat all the Shadows pow pow pow will they make the Right Moves In Time exactly well now that we've got the overview out of the way we want to focus on some key features that might help you decide whether or not this game is for you starting with the first one the dynamic turn order so it's dynamic because you get to choose who will go and when yes there'll be a coordinated leader who will have essentially the final save but you as a team can work out who turn is in and why does it make sense for it to be me this turn do I go twice in a row do I do these things and

then help you do that uh which is I think is part of the bigger puzzle in this game is deciding when players can go to fully optimize players actions yeah the sequencing of the game is really interesting because you will walk through the actions that you've set out and of course the reason that this is nice is because there's a guaranteed leader who is supposed to make like the final calls when it comes down to it so you pull away from the idea of like one person in particular in a co-op game that is really like commanding the game this way when it comes down to it make sure if you're the leader you're the one making the decisions that you think are right and it rotates as well so everybody gets a chance to do it and it's really neat how the mechanics really flow into it as well I think for movement specifically because there are some actions that allow you to move everybody with you so if somebody can come to you you can all move together you can all do the battles and then potentially have a better chance of success yeah and I think that's actually really key to do you'll want to make sure that you're making these like almost combo plays where you're able to move multiple people at once take out multiple Shadows at once and kind of well Cooperative cooperatively work together to Vanquish your foes speaking of vanquishing your foes that brings us to our next point which is the very difficulty in this game each character has four missions that you can choose from to enact for the game yes and some of them are easier than others so the game will recommend you there with some starting missions that you can kick off and we will recommend that you start out with that one as well always listen to what the game says the game knows but

some of the more difficult missions holy moly it definitely sneaks up on you yeah for sure and they they do they get more complicated and then like the comboing of the the ways that they can interact with each other the number of players that you're playing with those can really uh cement the difficulty in the game and I think that's really interesting to play on it's also one of those games that as you play more and more you'll get better and better at so some of the missions might be um pretty easy for you to Breeze through other times maybe you'll get unlucky simply with the map placements um the the way you are able to like flip and um find certain things or even the dice rolls when you are battling those Shadows yeah there's a lot of different factors that keep each game very fresh I will say too it's quite thematic because each of the characters has two little land spaces that correspond to the bigger m so they add their own flavor to it each of the missions often has extra components with it as well so you see a few extra components come and flow through the game as you play different varying missions and different combinations so the game definitely invites you to learn a bit more about these characters and this world of Chronicles of light yeah exactly and I think because the varying difficulty exists uh it's it also leans into the dynamic setup of the game where you can kind of well create that own variability yourself self almost yeah cuz only the edges have to match they don't have to be a square they can be a big line and you can just go zoom zoom

zoom zoom zoom and maybe you're wanting to just play this at two-player there is like a scaling that goes on in this game so the more people you play the bigger the map will be and the fun part about that is if you stick with it at two players you're able to mix and match the different Heroes and I guess that's a good po time to even mention the Disney characters now so we've got Belle from Beauty and the Beast we got May Maran from Robin Hood we've got Violet from The Incredibles and we have Moana from Moana I have not seen Robin Hood so I did not know who made Marion was and Tyler gave me heck for it I did I mean it's one thing to not see the movie but then to have them now show up in a board game I guess I got to know now I got to go watch it but I'm generally really excited about each of these characters and they bring a little bit of themselves into the game as well with the different land types with their missions and theque so you actually get to see and learn more about them and I love Violet from The Incredibles so seeing her in this game amazing it is really cool like Bella is probably one of my favorite Disney characters and I'm excited that she she's here they're all here and they're all working together and we're all working together to crush the Shadows exactly let's move on to kind of like a summary I guess I'm going to ask who you think this game is for well if you enjoy Cooperative games if if you enjoy a game where you can build your own adventure at the table that looks different game to game and if you enjoy games that you can keep coming back to and trying new things with this

game may be for you with the varying levels of missions with the varying strategies you can take uh there's quite a lot to explore within this game and it is a really familyfriendly game as well because of the dynamic chair order you can really puzzle and work together and do what you must in order to succeed and if you don't you can come again and learn again and try again yep yeah it's one of those games that you do end up getting better at as you play through the game like most games I would say but in this one it's pretty apparent when you start figuring things out but also because of the varying difficulty you'll probably want to you you'll be coming back for more and with that said that is Chronicles of light do you have any questions for us we're happy to answer them in the comments down below and if you enjoyed this video give us that Thumbs Up Hit That subscribe button if you're new here cuz we love talking board games and we' love it if you joined our journey now for our question of the day who who would you like to have joined the chronicles of light Universe say there's an expansion in the future who are some of the Heroes that you would like to see yeah what about you probably like Lady from Lady in the that'd be so nice you know who I would like Jane from Tarzan ah that would be cool I feel like I never see her in any games or any I think Tarzan is that a hot topic for Tarzan to be Disney is Tarzan Disney it's technically Pixar I think or DreamWorks it's one of them they're all in the same yeah but yeah I thought Tarzan's Disney anyways thank you so much for watching and we will catch you at the
