Did A Fan Inspire A New Viticulture Mechanic? & Jamey to the Fantasy Rap Rescue? - The Mill

hello and welcome to the mill i'm your host dusty crane and this week i thought we would talk about a post that i saw in facebook viticulture page um just a few weeks ago at this point i think it was from someone named kevin who mentions an email that he sent to jamie in 2017 about an idea he had for the viticulture expansion and it was actually like an import export mechanism is kind of how he presents it um in the idea where you know you could do you know distribution of wine and you know the the higher point wine orders are actually you know take longer to fulfill versus um you know a smaller order or maybe an order that's closer to wherever viticulture takes place um presumably italy right and um i thought that was a cool idea and then someone said um you know pointed out the fact that we already saw a teaser for the box art of the viticulture expansion at least what was originally presented i don't know that it was actually indicated it was final but it was kind of a teaser jamie mentioned it could change in any case one of the predominant aspects of that box art is ships on the horizon it looks like they're coming to shore it looks like the the people that are gathering grapes the vineyard workers or owners are actually looking at these ships coming in and it made me wonder whether or not um you know maybe that idea had something to it and in my

head i was trying to think of like how that might work and it almost feels like the possibility for like a push your luck mechanism right like maybe instead of getting points for the wine order that you fulfill you have the option to actually make more points by you know sending the wine out and you know maybe instead if you fulfill it here and now like maybe it's worth two points in residual income or you know maybe you ship it out and you know for a fact that this particular wine is going to take um i can't imagine you'd almost have to have the trip take a year right because we break it up into seasons in a year you know maybe you say okay for this particular wine it's going to be a year before you actually see the the income and the victory points and um you know maybe if it's close you know it's lower points or you might have one that says hey if you fulfill this wine order and you ship it it's going to take four years but now it's worth you know quadruple points or something like that where you're gambling on whether or not that wine is going to arrive on time for those points to make a difference um in the games of viticulture i've played i i think for the most part i think our games have ended somewhere in the seven to nine years depending on you know how things are are

going but um you know can you hold out you know getting the points for this wine for four years knowing that it's going to be a big point provider or you know do you maybe only do the ones that are are going to immediately provide points benefit um so i i don't think that was a part of i mean that might have been a part of uh in part a part of kevin's idea um but i don't i don't think i saw anything about the the push your luck it was kind of like it will take some time uh for for the wine to get there and and i really liked that idea i kind of i don't know i kind of like when um game expansions i i do like when they just kind of like fit seamlessly and it's just like just add those cards things change a little bit but it's all the same but i also like the expansions where you know there's something extra to the gameplay like i love tuscany and now you know how it adds the map there and you know you're fulfilling wine orders and putting stars out i like that extra you know piece to it and you know in playing with structures and stuff like that and so the idea itself of adding this pusher luck mechanism is very interesting to me um it's very interesting that that you could potentially have basically no points because you've been sending your wine out for export and then you know the year three arrives or something like that and just the points and the the income roll in and now

suddenly somebody who is near the back of the pack you know their work is paid off and they race to the front um i think that sounds really interesting or if you know that person is has done that and then you you know are doing your immediately fulfilling the orders trying to beat the clock i got to get these wine orders processed before before this person's import or export or the export of their wine you know before that affects me i think that's i think there's a potential for something cool there now i personally don't know whether or not um you know there is anything to this at all is just when i saw that recommendation from kevin or that post from kevin on the the facebook page um it just kind of got my mind turning and then with the the art of the box art it was just uh on top of it was just uh more than you know i was like oh man i gotta say something about this because it got me excited i want to share what excites me with you guys let's talk about the second thing that i had i teased it last week about about having some news i saw jamie's name in an unexpected place and just doing something really cool so um when i think of jamie stegmeier i do not think of dungeons and dragons and i do not think of rap but um i backed a kickstarter um let's see if i can bring it up on my screen here um called the bard chronicles which is a dungeons and dragons rap album um by dizzy roseblade is who the creator of that campaign is

and um been playing a lot of d d with my kids over the last year or two and um my daughter actually started dm in a game for us and so i'm getting to be a player for the first time and just having a lot of fun but anyway um this was right up my alley the the samples that that were provided are really cool and it's been a fun campaign to to follow as dizzy has shared his um life experiences in an update he did just recently he talked about his hard drive crashing and you know being devastated because the work that he had done was on this hard drive now apparently um i missed it in the comments last month but apparently uh i saw something just this month that caught my eye jamie offered for stonewire games to pay for that hard drive recovery to send it out to a professional data recovery service to have that possibly restored now if you are not in it you may never have looked into the price of a data recovery service they can be quite pricey now some hard hard drive um restoration is easier than others to get that data off the drive but um just in any case the fact that that jamie reached out uh jamie's background this one too by the way um which is which is why it was like i did not see jamie supporting a dungeons and dragons

rap album but um you know i guess he saw the project he thought it was cool he read the the story behind it wanted to be a part of it and so um you know not only to be a part of that project um but to essentially potentially offer that you know what is what it's going to take for a lot of lost work to be restored is just it's so cool um you know i talk about taking care of yourselves and each other at the end of the episodes and i just i i really do love that the company that sponsors this show not only you know says essentially the same thing that you know that tries to put good out there um but you know practice practices it too i just like between the the stoner charity auction every year between the the the pre-order sign up and you know donate a dollar for every sign up for a pre-order um to to stuff like this to the the bypac commitment to helping upgrade equipment and get people into conventions and that was another thing they worked with geekway to the west to bring in um you know people of color content creators and just not even just content creators to bring in people who otherwise might not have attended geek way to the west for one reason or another to to pay for those tickets and um i think there are times when we don't recognize people doing good things enough and um

you're not that you're doing good things for the kudos but um you know it's just it's it's nice it's human nature i think to i think you could eventually feel like taking advantage not taking advantage of i i'm gonna dig myself a hole here um but like i i think i think them getting that little extra pad on the back is kind of encouraging right you know it's encouraging to say hey i saw that thing you did it was super cool and you know it's appreciated and you know for dizzy's part here on the the chronicles uh the dungeons of dragons rap album chronicles um the bard chronicles um certainly he expressed his his gratitude to jamie um the hard drive is actually with an i.t professional friend of dizzy's um who's taking a look at it but uh he's gonna get a hold of jamie this uh this past week to um you know maybe see about getting that serviced if that hard drive was unable to be restored but um just kudos to jamie kudos to to stoneware games for coming forward and making that offer just really cool um let me know in the comments what you think of the viticulture expansion idea whether you like that idea of a push your luck mechanism or if you are not a fan of that why you don't like the idea of maybe delaying the the points for fulfilling a wine order and um yeah that is all i have for you this week thank you so much for watching if you have any uh if you have anything you

want to see go ahead and drop that into the comments as well until next time take care of yourselves and each other thanks for watching bye you
