Description

Scott Pilgrim Miniatures the World! is a competitive board game where one team takes on the role of Scott and the other good guys to fight against The League of Evil Exes. The action takes place on a pop-up board with large miniatures, custom dice, and 3D constructible objects for smashing and throwing!

In this miniatures combat game, you'll go head to head either as Scott and his friends or as an Evil Ex. You'll roll dice and take actions including: moving, using a basic attack (punching or kicking), recovering health, picking up and throwing objects, or using one of a character's special abilities pulled right from the pages of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels.

Deal damage to your opponent and knock them out by reducing them to 0 health. Scott and his friends win if they knock out the Evil Ex, but they'll have quite the challenge! The Bad Guys win if all the Good Guys are knocked out.

Pros
  • Beautiful miniatures that resemble the comic and movie interpretations
  • Accessible, fast-paced skirmish experience suitable for fans of Scott Pilgrim
  • Strong table presence and high-quality components for display and play
  • Good filler between heavier strategy games; not overly long or complex
  • Familiar mechanic set for players of WizKids/Star Wars-style games, but lighter and approachable
Cons
  • High component cost; not inexpensive for many players
  • Some parts can be fragile or require glue (e.g., a base came loose) and not all pieces fit perfectly out of the box
  • Not as deep or long-lasting as hardcore miniature games; occupies a middle space
  • One item card contains language or references that may be more suitable for older teens or adults
Thematic elements

  • Toronto-inspired urban setting drawn from the Scott Pilgrim comics and movie, represented in a stylized battleground with stage-like elements.
  • asymmetric, RPG-lite progression where heroes and the villain pursue distinct win conditions within a fast-paced skirmish.

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
  • area movement on a grid — Players move miniatures across a divided board (grid-based) to position for abilities and confrontations.
  • Asymmetric Player Powers — One evil ex (the villain) with minions is opposed by multiple heroes, each with unique powers and a shared objective.
  • Asymmetric powers and villain — One evil ex (the villain) with minions is opposed by multiple heroes, each with unique powers and a shared objective.
  • cooperative vs competitive dynamics — While heroes cooperate to defeat the villain, the villain operates with its own objectives and minions.
  • Dice pool and allocation — Five dice are rolled (three hero dice, two shared dice) and allocated to various powers to activate effects.
  • Item cards — Items grant special powers and situational advantages; some cards reference thematic motifs from the IP.
  • RPG-style progression and XP — Characters level up via an experience track, unlocking new abilities and a powerful combo option.
  • Thematic 3D terrain and stage elements — The board presents 3D structures and stage-like backdrops to evoke the comic/movie aesthetic.
