- Ask a Board Gamer! My first question actually launches with a tragic story - i've got bad news for you Brent - i've got some bad news for you - i got bad news - Uh-oh - A fire has destroyed your entire board game collection - new stuff included - Oh no! - i know! - Oh sh*t - And you have to rebuild - i wanna know: what's the first thing you rebuild with?
- I would start with Splendor - Dragon Strike - Citadels - Hansa Teutonica - Mysterium - Boss Monster - Kingdom Death: Monster, hands down - 1313 Dead End Drive!
- I love it so much! I've never won a game - I have a massive amount of fun.
- It was the first real unique board game I owned.
- D6 is basically designed for individuals who don't know how to play Dungeons & Dragons, but it's a really simplified D&D board game version.
- It was like mousetrap almost. You build up this elaborate scene and you trigger traps and devices... Clue to the next level!
- I probably would start off with Scythe. I've spent so much money buying all the expansions. I've spent a ton of time going over strategy, playing with other people, teaching other people. It's a long game to get to learn if you've ever played it. I just have to get that one back.
- It is by far the best game that I have ever played. I absolutely love cooperative gameplay.
- I don't really like counter-operative gameplay, even though I know that nobody else ever calls it that.
- I tried Munchkin once, and I don't want to lose my friends over a game.
- Cosmic Encounter you want to avoid, and of course, uh, Monopoly, because everybody should avoid it at all costs.
- Kingdom Death: Monster is probably one of the most critically acclaimed and, like, artistically inspired.
- When you look at the miniatures and you look at the details, the time and the effort and the inspiration that goes into it is very very nice.
- Can you still get it? - Yes, you can! They do a lot of limited print collectors models of sorts. Those are irreplaceable.
- I don't know how I'm gonna put my kid through college since I have to buy it all again!
- There's been a fire, and it's destroyed your entire board game collection. What game do you buy first to replenish it? - Dinosaur World.

Quotes (from this video)
- Designers often spend months perfecting things that players barely notice.
- Most of your design is invisible.
- The DICE model is a practical tool to help you to identify what players expect, what they ignore, what they enjoy, and what gets them hooked.
- So, C is for core. This includes the aspects of your game which players do actively notice, they enjoy, and even potentially comment on.
- E is for edge, and this is where players really do start to get excited.
- Too often I see designers struggling to distinguish between what is merely present in a game and what actually creates value for players.
- A game with a strong edge isn't going to hold up for long if its core mechanisms are weak.
- The plight of a game designer is to remain ever under-appreciated.

Mechanics (from transcript analysis)
- Movement restriction — If you try to move across a mousetrap you have to pause, you have to stop and see if you actually successfully cross that mousetrap without springing it. You take your movement value and roll that number of dice. Instead use your lore value and roll that number of dice. As long as you roll a star, no problem, keep moving and you get to go by it without springing the trap. If you don't roll a star, the trap is sprung. In that situation you are then knocked down, take a wound, and have to end your turn there. You do get to collect cheese that was in the trap.

Quotes (from this video)
- as long as it has a Target at the start of its turn it's not going to move at all instead it's just going to attack the closest Target that I can see
- if you try to move across a mouse trap you have to pause you have to stop and see if you actually successfully cross that mousetrap without springing it
- if you don't roll a star in other words if you're a slow moving animal maybe you don't roll very many dice and therefore you don't roll the star that you in need the Trap is sprung
- and now he's in line of sight he can attack him he's going to use the Mystic bolt now that's going to cost him one cheese
- the best part here is he just grabbed four cheese cuz he gets two cheese for every one cheese that he rolls that's his special ability
- so in this situation if the rat next to them was not killed he wants to go after this rat
- so although she's wounded that doesn't count but Colin is wounded so she's going to get another die for that so that's four dice
- so in that situation no blocks at all that means the damage gets through and we're going to be able to remove this rat Warrior right from the board
- we only used up his move action so let's use up his main action to do search a search
- so very heroic of You Luke I like that
- this is the first time we've ever pulled this card and this is pretty cool so I guess the idea here is that for a period of time you've created this this Golem made out of cheese that will attack and defend for you and it's got really good stats a four attack and a three defense
- minions are not affected by tile of effects including most traps
- We're going to be able to remove this rat Warrior right from the board
- so that wraps this turn up so now we have to turn it back over to you guys and once again meganos is going to be first
