Hey everybody, I'm Tom Vassal. Welcome to look back, a series of videos that I do each week where I take a look at the reviews that I did in this same time frame at last year. Also, 5 years ago and 10 years and 20. And I tell you what I think about the games now if I think about them at all. Let's go back 20 years ago, I reviewed the classic game No Thanks. What an amazing game No Thanks is. Still an amazing game. This idea of I'm going to take a card or throw a chip in the card. I play this game consistently. Just played it 2 weeks ago. 8.5, what a great game. You know what? Nah, I'm going to up that to a 9. It is that fantastic of a game, No Thanks. All righty, um 10 years ago I reviewed Princess Bride I Hate to Kill You.
A back and forth game. There are some really terrible Princess Bride games out there. This is an okay one. 6 out of 10. Push It. This is a dexterity uh game that came in a little
[clears throat]
container and it's like, "Hey, I can open it up and just play on the table and flick discs." That's fine. I I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. 8 out of 10. Creature College. Um I don't really remember anything about this game other than it was fine. 6 out of 10. All right, 5 years ago I reviewed Scrap Racer from Queen. This is a racing game building scraps. This is Queen makes a lot of really good games and then they make some bad ones and this is one of the bad ones. 5 out of 10. Terraforming Mars Big Box. Now it's 5 years old. I distinctly remember this. I was very excited to get the big box but it's just fine at best. It has 3D versions of the tiles. But people have been making better ones on Etsy for years before this came out. It came with some extra stuff.
It just felt like it almost it's too little too late, honestly, this this thing. It's it's not great. It's fine at best. 6 out of 10. Maharaja. So, this is Cranio Creations reprinting of Maharaja, a race game. I think they like the original one a little better. There's a few issues I had with this one, but it's still pretty solid game. 7 out of 10. Scapegoat. This game doesn't look particularly good from Indie Boards and Cards, but a game where you're trying to make someone else the scapegoat. I thought it was fun. 7 out of 10. Brew. From Pandasaurus. This is one of those games that's like, "Ooh, look at this cute little artwork." Mean. Mean mean mean little game. Very intriguing game. 7.5. Witchstone. This is a game in which you are playing you have your own little cauldron and you're playing things moving around in the pot. Very mechanical game. Very lack of theme almost as you put these tiles in your pot.
But it works. 7.5. Uh Mama Mia, here we go again. Mama Mia, a classic game from Uwe Rosenberg, best known for games like Agricola and Caverna. This is a card game, but Mama Mia is one of those games that I bring out at conventions and play with people, little memory game which I like a lot. 8 out of 10. For Sale. For Sale is a game in which you are playing uh cards out on uh it it's it's a just a classic game. You're bidding on these cards, uh these houses, then you sell these cards at the same time. Two halves of a game. It's an amazing game. 9 out of 10. Last year I reviewed Hexpath DeTour Deluxe. What a terrible roll and write style game. I feel bad. Some bad It's just awful. 2 out of 10.
The Crew: Family Adventure. So, The Crew is a cooperative trick-taking games. The Crew: Family Adventure is a cooperative Uno. It's not bad. There's some interesting ideas. It's not great either. Just misses the mark, but there's a lot of things I liked about it. 6.5. Axis & Allies Battle of the Bulge is a reprint from Renegade of the classic Axis & Allies game. There's some pretty interesting ideas here. I don't want to play this one all the time, but it's a solid version of this and it's all about logistics. 7 out of 10. And Orbit. Bitewing made a trilogy of new games last year where they reprinted a couple games actually, but they made one brand new one called Orbit, a racing game from Ryan Miller Knesia where you jump from planet to planet. Really impressed with this one. Bright, cheerful, fun, fast. 9 out of 10.
And there you go, folks. Those are the games I reviewed 1, 5, 10, and 20 years ago. Thanks for watching. I'm Tom Vasel. We'll see you next time.
