Now, it's a funny thing. I've been venturing into trading card games for for a bit now, and I've always played them, but you know, I was never a big Magic guy, and um you know, back when it first came out, I played it a lot. Um and I remember playing the old Battletech card game. Does anybody remember that?

0:58 That was such a great card game. It's it's it's almost impossible to find now. I wish they David they would re-release that. But, you know, I played a lot of different different type of things when when that craze went on and you know, here we are, you know, almost like 30 30 something 40 years later. Um, and the, you know, the craze has come to Pokemon and Magic. And the funny thing about it is you have your diehard Magic guys that that will always be Magic guys playing in the big tournaments and stuff like that. And now with them using IPs, the game is very very attractive. Um because it kind of breathes life into it. So, you know, traditionalist hate it, but you know, how many different sets can you come out when you come out with four sets a year uh that are different? Um, and now using different IPs, different universes, uh, you know, from from Final Fantasy to Marvel Spider-Man, which but, um, you know, Avatar and God of War and all these really cool things. It just keeps the game and and it becomes a collector's um dream in a way because because you know they print this and then they're not going to do it again and you're going to you know there's going to be chase cards and so for collectors it's it's it's

2:30 getting those rare special cards that are in there and you know uh and and the Pokemon craze which you know it's an amazing thing because people that played in the the first edition, you know, are now, you know, older and have kids and are collecting and and kids love Pokemon. My grandson loves Pokemon and we've done some box openings here for our good friends over at Trading Card Market and even my daughter still loves it, you know, and she's 30 years old now and uh is out there trying to, you know, she's [clears throat] we just opened up a a box of Mega Evolution not too long ago and uh we had a good time doing that. Um but she has to come finish filming, you know, the intro outro. so we can show you guys.

3:25 Um, but is there room for anything else? And I I I think we skip over, you know, we we we think, you know, Pokemon people play it, but I don't think they play it the way they play Magic. I think it's more uh of a speculator market and, you know, I wonder if, you know, it's going to crash at some point. you know, you hate to put all your eggs in one basket, but you know, talking to um uh Trading Card Market like I do, my friends over there, um you know, they're saying, you know, the big two. It's the big two. It's Magic and Pokemon. And you know, you know, people go crazy for it. But there are other games out there that are really good that are carried at at at our good friends at Trading Card Market that I really have been trying to showcase here and I'm going to continue to showcase. Uh, one of them I've got coming in that we're going to take a look at is Flesh and Blood, which is a game in which you are a particular you're a particular character and you have to suit them up for battle and things like that. And it it's a really neat little game. And we'll talk about that more later. But, you know, some of these other games that have really caught my eye, uh, as you know, I'm a big Godzilla fan. So, when you talk about Godzilla, I'm I'm in all the way.

4:51 But the neat thing about the Godzilla game is the the mechanics. And there's a lot of games that are doing different types of mechanics that really really kind of give you a break. And I think they get overshadowed by the big two. uh especially Godzilla when you are taking uh you've you've got four levels of Godzilla and you've got to get to the other side. You've got to go through eight levels and you get knocked back and you know you're trying to attribute points to outpoint the other person and and it's a really really good game that I I think a lot of people bought for the novelty of the cards but don't really play the game. Another great game with with a very unique um um structure is is Grand Archive, which is absolutely beautiful. And uh these cards are gorgeous, of course. Um and they they really really stand out. And it's a it's it's a it's a really good solid uh trading card game that you can get that's very affordable. you know, if if you love trading card games and you know, you you you see how certain things go, like uh you know, something just came out recently, um oh, the League of Legends game and now it's like $400 a box. If you can't afford that stuff and you're looking to play something different or you're tired of playing the same thing, Grand Archive is a great game.

6:22 um Shadow Shadow Verse Evolve, which is a game that I play on Steam and they've turned it into a collectible card game, which it is kind of a collectible card game online, which is free. Go check it out. It's free. Get a feel for it. And then this is very affordable. Very, very, very affordable game. uh with all the different elements and and and the prize cards are like ridiculously beautiful and the art is fantastic because that a lot of times you look for good art to suck you into a theme. Uh sorcery. Uh they just came out with a a um a set of Gothic. Um you're going to be seeing the box opening of that. Um and I am getting the starter decks to run through that. It's very unique type of game as you try to capture different land masses until you can get over to the other side and defeat your opponent which is really unique. It's I I think it's a five by a 4x5 um area that you're going to be playing on which is really really really cool.

7:36 And um [snorts] and you can't go diagonally unless the card uh determines and you'd be like playing against a necromancer versus a warrior or something like that and you're trying to uh conquer land and and get over and defeat your opponent. Very very good game. Um and I really highly suggest it. Very affordable, very easy to get into. Starter decks, they're out there very cheap. You can start the game at 40 bucks and you get four different decks which is really cool, you know. Um then you have whole life. Um the wife Schwarz thing I was never into but I remember seeing the old Barcelona sets. I mean uh Barbar Roa sets and and Normandy sets and stuff like that and um for me it was just a little too I guess racy.

8:31 um from the same company that really created uh uh some very very good games. There's Whole Life. Um and this is very interesting because it's kind of like a influencer. um and you're the main influencer and then you do collaborations and you're trying to defeat your opponent a certain number of times and and you're going to be, you know, just it's a very unique cutesy game that I really really like. For those of you that are big, huge, massive fans of of Gundam, I mean, Gundam the card game, I really like um it plays so smoothly and and how you you you do it and and go through it and you know, you're wearing down the other person's base and you force them to turn over certain cards and discard and eliminate and certain cards while powering up your Gundams and stuff like that to attack even more trying to destroy the the opposing base. And once you do that, you win. It is just very thematic, very beautiful, and just a lot a lot of fun. And there are just so many other different options. Ultra Man, which is a fantastic One Piece, all these different card games. You know, right now the card game, the trading card market is at at an all-time high,

10:04 okay? And it's driven by the two main games, which is Magic and of course Pokemon. But there's all these other games that you're missing out on that really are affordable, easy to get into, and a lot a lot of fun. And I highly highly suggest all these different games. You know, the other two are are just as fine. If you just like collecting Pokemon, hey, do it till your heart's content. But you're going to find that a lot of these different games that I'm talking about are fun, enjoyable, affordable, and just, you know, waiting for you to give them a try and enjoy them.
