There have been a lot of Lord of the Rings board games come out recently, but which ones are any good? This is my ranking of all of the recent Lord of the Rings games. The Lord of the Rings Adventure to Mount Doom is a cooperative game where you are using dice to move various characters and try to get Froto to mount Doom. There's a lot of luck involved though, and sadly, this is one I can't recommend. In the Lord of the Rings adventure book game, there are eight chapters and each chapter is a different puzzle, a different miniame, and you are playing through the eight chapters. There's a lot of story involved, and that part of it is great, but one of the problems is that you can't play any individual chapter. You have to play all of them in a row, which makes for a long game. And also, if you lose, you reset. So, you're going to play chapter 1 way more than you're going to play chapter 8. The Hobbit there and back again is also played in chapters, but the nice thing here is that you can play it in escalating chapters and get some narrative or you can just pick your favorite chapter and play that one. You will be rolling dice, building roots on your board. It's kind of a roll and write game, but a pretty unique one. If you like puzzles, I recommend this one big time. The Fate of the Fellowship is the biggest game on this list. It's the most strategic, the most complicated, the most epic. It also feels like maybe the most thematic game on this list. Everything you're doing

feels like you are part of the adventure, immersed in the adventure, and there's a lot of replayability to this game. But, you know, it is fairly complicated. So, know that going in. In the Fellowship of the Ring tricktaken game or the Two Towers trick taking game, you play through a series of escalating chapters. Each chapter you pick a character to play as and all of the characters will have different requirements like they need to win tricks with this card or they need to win tricks with this number. And so you're trying to figure out together how to get every player to reach their goal. The Lord of the Rings Duel for Middle Earth has everything I want a game to have. It has really fun, satisfying engine building. It has interesting card drafting. It has multiple paths to victory, so your strategy can never be the same game to game. It's just really, really great. There's also a lot of popular older Lord of the Rings games you can check out like War of the Ring, Journeys in Middle Earth, and many, many
