Tend - Hive Expansion | Solo Playthrough (with the companion app)

0:05 Hi everybody and welcome to a new solo playthrough video. Today is a very exciting day because I will be showing you the Hive expansion to Tent. If you don't know, Tent is a game that's incredible. Um, and they're coming out with two expansions for Tent. One is Hive, the other is seller. Um, and these were very kindly gifted to me by Ivy Studios. So, huge shout out to them for even considering me as I am a smaller channel. Um, but they were so lovely and they sent it over and I'm just beyond excited to have this in my hands and to be able to share it with you guys. Uh, this is a prototype copy of the game, so some things might be subject to change. There are a couple things that I will be talking about that are different. Um, but let's start. I'm so excited. Let's try. It's obviously about bees, so let's go make some honey. Well, welcome.

1:02 Hopefully this all works. Um, obviously tent has a lot going on, so I'm hoping everything will show up clearly. I will zoom in on certain things, but the quality might not be the best when I zoom in. So, I'm sorry. Um, I've tried the the weather today is very gloomy, which is perfect for games, not perfect for filming. So, I have set up some lights hopefully to get it a bit more clearer, but we'll see how that goes. Um, all right. So, I have Let me show you the companion app first, which I will be using today to play tent. It will save me a bunch of space and it's just very easy. It also saves me setup time. I really like using the companion app. So, let's go ahead and take a look at that. Um, so I will be switching between the companion app here and my face. Hello. Um, so, uh, we have the companion app. Um, I've set it to the Hive expansion. I haven't set the advanced cards because then the chance of getting Hive cards is very small. So, we don't want that. Um, so just I just have the Hive expansion activated. Um, and I have made a seed here, Crimson BG.

Um, so if you want to play tent with Hive and try to beat my score, you can use this seed in the companion app to then try and because you will get the exact same cards and everything. And we have some dice uh over here. We have some dice. Beautiful. Um, they are obviously in the game as well. So you can use the physical dice. That's the only sad thing about the companion app is I won't be rolling these dice myself. Um, but that's okay. Um, and let's get into I will explain a little bit of Hive first and then we will dive right in. Okay. So, for Hive, we have an extra sheet right here. Let us also just write down. We're just going to do the same name um as the seed we're using. So, crimson BG, that's the project we're working on today, guys. So, okay. Um, and as you can see, we have a couple of apiaries right here. That is the main focus of the hive expansion is you have these apiaries that we can unlock just like how we unlock anything else in in tent.

3:33 I'm not going to explain tent. So, if you haven't played Tent before, this might not be the right moment to step into Tent, maybe use a video explaining tent. But you are welcome to join, of course, but just letting you know this is an expansion. Um, so we just unlock these as normal. You can unlock them in any which order that you would prefer. And then whenever we have one unlocked, we can start to fill our apiary with bees. How wonderful. And the dice are the bees. So, right now we have very luckily um like the same that would be a T on the 10 dice. So, like a wild um and we have a one. Now, at the start of Hive, you are only allowed to use the yellow dice. We haven't unlocked our enhanced apiary, which will allow us to use both dice. So, we can only at the start fill our apiaries with one bee at a time once we have one unlocked. Um, we can also unlock pollen, which allows us to manipulate the dice uh by one or plus one or minus one, which is really nice as well. Um, I feel like the enhanced apiary is what I use more often, but both are very useful. So,

4:56 um, yeah, you having both would be the best. But my god, my god, guys, the the amount of things we can do now. We could already do so much intent and it's only gotten worse in a great way. Um, [snorts and clears throat] so that's the the dice. So the dice are bees. Um, they will get rerolled every uh task phase um or every um setup phase. And in the task phase, we can um choose or we can admit these bees to one of the apiaries if we have one. Um you can only put one bee per apiary. So I can't So if I want to fill in this yellow dice and I'm going to say it's a three and I have three apiaries unlocked. I can't put a three in every single one of them. Okay, it's one B can only go to one place. All right, it can't it can't clone itself. Okay. Um, so then what we have next, we also have a little cargo pod. So we have some extra storage. As you can see here, we have a new stamp which is artis artisian goods. Artisan goods. It's hard to say for me. Artisan goods. I think that's it. So honey is one of them. In the seller expansion, you will have a bunch more artisan goods. Um, which will also uh you will use this stamp for. Um, so the artisan goods are always worth two points, even if I put them in my normal cargo manifest, which is great. Um, and we have some stuff uh going on uh here

6:28 as well. So, we now have fish that are worth three points. Wonderful. And zero for leaves, but I do have two points for leaves right here for crops and stuff. Um, and animal produce. So, we might I don't know. We might do some tending or get some animals going. Who knows? Um, all right. So, that is that. We have a couple of upgrades we can do. We will get to those when we get to them. Um, they are all very cool upgrades. And then we have an extra badge. Very important, the beekeeper. So, obviously with the honey, we can unlock new medals and potentially this badge. And then we have very important for endgame scoring. We have investments. So, we can unlock some some numbers on the right. And at the end of the game, you're going to count up all the numbers you have unlocked. Let's say I have five total.

7:21 Um, and I will then count all the medals that I have and multiply that by the number I have. So, if I have five medals and I have five points unlocked, I will get 25 points. Um, so that is actually that can get really crazy. Um, which is awesome. I need to focus more on that to be honest. I have done I think five is the most I've done, but I would love to get more, but we'll have to see if I can make that work. We'll see. Okay, without much further ado, let's go look at our goals, our season goals. Um, and then we're going to go ahead and start. So, we have spacer. Gain four points for each empty area in your cargo manifest of size one. So at the end of season one, we will score empty spaces.

8:13 Okay. Center sampler. Gain three points for each different type of good in section two of your cargo manifest. All right. And then we have gain 20 points by completely filling section one of your cargo manifest. Okay. Potentially we [snorts] can do that. Potentially. We'll see. We'll tr I will try my very best to do it. Okay, so uh we have obviously the task the starter task cards for the first round. Let's look at the two new ones that we're going to get though. River fishing unlocked, bro. Uh no, two mining levels. That is potentially something that we could have next turn. Um if we mine, we could mine twice. We also have so we have fishing that's going to give us three points. So we should be doing some fishing and we have um the tent crops and animal things that's going to give us two points. So we should probably also do some tending and I should give myself some neighbor cards which I haven't done yet. That is something I don't have with this um is the neighbor cards. So, the neighbor cards for hive um are more honey. You get some honey that you can give to your neighbors. But, as you can see, the size has been a little bit of a of a misprint, which is all good. But I do I

9:45 did want to show them because the art is so pretty. I think it's so pretty. Um but I can't use those. So, we won't have any honey gifts that we're going to be able to give. So, well, that's easy choices. So maybe we should go for a chicken and do some fishing in and then maybe some mining. I can't go fishing today. Uh we don't have that option available [clears throat] to us. So maybe I should tend. I don't I never tend much in this game called tend. But let's um do Oh, wait. That's not what I want to do, right? I want to get I want to get fences and get a chicken. Okay, so we will just go mining. Never mind. Let's go mining.

So, maybe one, two, three, four. I need five fence. So, maybe I wait and we just use it here. And we go mining again. God, the choices are not great in this game, guys. Let me just tell you. Let me go this way because I I have been spoiled a little bit that this is an upgrade. Okay, I'm going to try to not shake the table as much. Okay, there we go. So, we do have an upgrade for the mining, which is good.

11:51 So, we have a stone and then we have one coin. So, let's use one coin here. And maybe use this rock. I thought I was going to use the rock as fence, but we're going to sell the rock um for a coin and get the apiary unlocked. And then I can add a number. So, we have the B dice. We have one, the yellow one that we can use. It's a wild this turn, so I can put anything. So for the yellow apiary, we want different numbers. So every little square here needs to get a different number. So let's do a four. I feel like the four doesn't get ruled a lot. So let's do a four. In the blue apiary, you want all the same number. Difficult, let me tell you. The yellow of the the can't speak. The red one needs this is a little bit of a misprint. it once. Uh the total sum of everything in this needs to be less than 11. So these two together is quite easy to get less than 11, but to get everything under 11, not great. So you could just decide to just unlock one of the red ones and then continue instead of trying to fill out everything. That's up to you, of course. And then purple.

13:14 We're not going to do purple. Look at that. No, we're not going to do that. I will try to do red this this game. Purple is every number that you fill in has to be more than three. So that's also so it needs to be fours and fives which is pretty crazy. All right, we have done our thing. We are going to move on to the next round. Boop. Okay, here we go. So, the money would have been great in the first round to unlock this straight away. That is a really nice way to get it. We have a five on the yellow dice. We're going to fill that in straight away. Boop, boop, boop. And we get this yellow honey. Right now, we get one yellow honey because we unlocked it. And then every growth phase, we're going to get an additional yellow honey. So, it's going to keep making honey for us. So, we do have one yellow honey. So, we're going to look at our upgrades and try to upgrade something.

14:20 So, we could So, the yellow honey mostly goes towards these middle goals. So, we have we can get a rake. So, after attending desk, we can roll a dieice and we get the reward based on the number we rolled, which is just absolutely wonderful. So, we have chopping, fishing, maybe we should do the fishing because we do want to go and do fishing. What did we have here? Do we have any? We don't have any hive cards yet, which is making me feel suspicious, but I have really unlocked it. So, it's just it's just chance, I'm sure. It's fine. Okay, so we have two chopping levels and two chopping levels. Okay, so we should be really doing doing some chopping then, even though this is two mining levels, but we should be chopping. [snorts] Boy, we can't chop this turn. There's no chopping options available to us this turn. Um, so I am just going to try to mine first using which card? I think we should just try to use it with this card and hopefully get an upgrade and that way Oh, and I have this honey that I need to distribute. Okay, we're going to put it where are we going to put it? Let's put it after. Let's put it here. Okay.

15:42 Decision has been made. All right. We are going to mine. I'm going to go down. It's hard to not scratch while it's on the table to be honest. So, way harder than I expected it to be. I'm just going to try to not That's not an upgrade. Damn it. I'm not I'm not lucky today with the scratching. Wow. I should have just gone down from the other one, but I really did not expect that to be an upgrade. Okay, we have one rock, which I will now use as fence. So, we're going to go. Should I try to get [clears throat] Let's just go to three. Okay, we need two more fence and then we're going we're going to go. So, I don't get this because I don't have two mining levels unlocked yet, which is very sad. Um, so we're going to go fishing, which is crazy cuz I don't have any fishing upgrades yet, but I can't go chopping.

16:43 I could do mining again really, which is just that feels boring. So, we're just going to go fishing even though that might be stupid because it the chance I get nothing is definitely there. Okay, at least we got the T. So, we have five. So, black five and then the T. So, we can choose anything in this row. I could do a neighbor gift for the fish. That could be good. I need to look up actually how the how the solo point system works again for the for the neighbor gifts. Okay, we're going to give this fish, which means I get one wood from my neighborly gift. I'm going to use it towards getting a fishing upgrade. Um, so there we go. Fishing. Fishing complete.

17:31 Okay, so now we are going to do the neighbor phase. So I get two new cards. This is pretty cool, but I feel like I need that for myself. So we're going to just take the fish. Um, then we're going to do scoring phase, which is nothing. Setup phase. Let me just The mouse is annoying today. There we go. [snorts] And then we are going to do the growth phase. So right now that means I get one yellow honey. So, we're going to use it again towards my driftwood net that I'm trying to unlock. Um, okay. Okay. I'm turning Dutch. Okay. I am Dutch, but I'm Okay, so driftwood net or pond trap unlocked. That's great. I'm working towards a driftwood net. We're not going to get it right now, but that's fine. We do have a yellow four, which is sad because we already have put a four, so I can't do that one. Um, [snorts] so that is a little sad, but it's fine. So, we have no chopping levels unlocked. We could try to get that somehow.

18:36 It would be fun to try and get that. Um, I feel like I'm doing too many different things, which is not good. Which is not great to be honest. But let's chop because we do need um wood would be great to build our fence or even if we get this would be really really great. So let's go on the right side instead of left this time.

That's that's really what we need right now. So, we did some chopping. So, we're going to get a mining upgrade giving us a coin which I will use towards should I use it here or towards my fishing? Oh man. Okay. And then we have one copper which where are we going to use this copper? I could sell it for one then I get the chicken and I I feel like I need I don't need it here.

And then growth, we get a honey. So there we go. And now we go here. Let's see. A five. Seriously, I need this enhanced apiary unlocked ASAP so I can use both dice because getting fives and fours is really unfortunate. But it there's nothing we can do. I also need to get some things stamped in my cargo, which I have not stamped anything yet, which is not good. We might need to forgo some of the neighbor gifts just so I can stamp some things potentially.

21:19 We'll see. We'll see. Okay, what options do we have? So, I don't have the driftwood net yet, and we're not going to get it this turn. Either fishing rod upgrade unlocked. I am working towards that, but I don't have it yet. So, we're we're not doing very well with getting some extra stuff cuz getting this would be absolutely fantastic, let me tell you. So, could we somehow get that? We need three money to get that. If we fish, maybe we could get it. But then first we need to do something else. So, let's go. We have let's go chopping.

Um, it is still something though, but it is only one coin. Um, I don't think we can somehow make that into two coins. So, let me just stamp this fish.

Hell no.

We have a three and a four, which is this blue one. And we can go like up and this way. So, it's all the blue ones. So, we get one blue fish, which I will stamp.

I'm really I feel like last time I played I was also very unlucky trying to get this unlocked. It was so difficult, but we're going to try it again today.

We don't have that either. So, we don't have anything. We do have two money here, which is tempting to put right there. Let's just do it. And then what we're going to do, we might just go mining because that's what we're that's what we're doing a lot. Um, let's go. There are two chopping upgrades in the here though, so I could also try to chop get at least one upgrade.

Just so you guys know, if this wasn't clear already. Um, not my strong suit, but I absolutely adore this game. So, h should we What should we do? I really want to get one of those iron things.

33:18 And I really want to get the tree trunk thingy. We could also do fishing and then roll for it. Hopefully that we could get it that way potentially. Um, that's why I also really like trying to get the Xammer unlocked. Um, that way we can roll after mining as well. Try to get those tree trunks that we need. Um, so maybe we should just I mean I could I need different colors in the cargo pot. That would be nice. We're not going to get two colors in there right now, I don't think. Let's just go mining first. I've just been mining all this time, guys. I've just been spending all my time down in the mines. Okay, where do we go, though?

Three, which is nothing. But we can get the blue fish. So, the blue fish is only one. Um, so let's just stamp that one here towards the season 2 goal.

So, you will start game two with the things you have unlocked here. So, you kind of have a boost to the very start of your second and third game with more items to immediately use. Um, and then you have the market stall where you can get points for each row and column. So, for example, this top row, if you have that, which is obviously going to be an insane task, is going to be 165 points.
