BGG Con 2014 - Day 4

00 so here we are it's the beginning of day four or so we're going to say it's beginning of the day yeah it's not really it's not late or anything like that or anything like that like don't it's not like we forgot to do the beginning of day four or somebody's camera and that stuff so day four here's what i'm looking forward to doing today i think we're going to do a doomtown tournament yes we are we're going to be in a tournament and hopefully we'll participate i mean it's hard one of those things that we haven't really played that much so it's going to be interesting to see how we do yep and then we're going i want to try to get the spectre ops game in that we had been talking about doing and then i just want to do a lot of open gaming okay well i'm after doom town i'm hoping that i'm going to be able to get into the pandemic survival tournament that would be interesting the sign ups weren't very clear so i don't know if i'm in and then after that like marty just hey nothing but open gaming and see what's going to come across cool all right all right let's see how this goes yep now they just received a message from the uh de-39 tsn destroyer they'd like to help us first we need to dock with ds1 and pick up some flies they need ds1 okay so it's saturday day four day four and we're doing the durham durham town doomtown tournament and and back there is glenn from couple versus cardboard and over there is hunter from weapons gray tabletop and uh so like i am and cheryl cheryl is back over there but she is busy playing the game right now and um so like i'm owen two and sucking it up i'm holding him oh

32 you're rolling too yeah glenn what are you right now whatever tony's one and one look at him you're two in it he beat me this game blows i didn't realize you were 2-1-0 oh thanks for the love sure isn't the player wow okay so we're doing a round robin tournament we'll get to play everybody and i guess one of these two guys may win a really awesome prize i want to buy that 10 bucks anybody gets it so anyway we'll report back with the results at the end or go check them online right now even though this will be way later and we can show you online so you can watch marty's demise wow oh okay i'm stopping look who i just found i just found the other two fifths the other two fifths of four with life with casey and brittany how are you guys doing what are you talking about we we've had to work the past couple days so we're this is our first day at the con so yeah yeah it's messed up oh so you didn't play anything good we haven't even gotten a chance we've been going around making the rounds with uh saying hi to folks that we don't get to see oh cool cool so well you need to get out there and i'm i won't take any more time you need to go out there and talk to some people yeah because i've already bugged your cohorts about when a season two coming out they just said as soon as it's ready yeah our goal is to make it like our goal is quality over schedule to a certain extent of course that we're not gonna let the schedule just fall by

02 the wayside but uh but we want to make sure it's as good as we wanted to yep cool cool you guys got to have some fun though all right all right look i just found hello it's tiffany raff how you doing i'm doing good thank you for the moon by the way oh you are so welcome so i mean like we're all doing this like constant vlogging so if you like put them all together in a row you'll like see the entire conventions what i figured yeah i know it'll be and it'll also be vlog inception because we're also in each other's vlogs constantly so there'll be video footage of me videoing you videoing other people it just means it's endless circle oh if somebody needs to do that that would be awesome you're like an endless loot yeah somebody find all the footage and cut it together so it's just like blah blah blah blah and do like an actual timeline thing that would be amazing what's the best game you've played so far i'm putting you on the spot i'm sorry i'll let you think about it for a second i really liked kanban i really like the demo it took us an hour and like we came in first thing in the morning and we did it which is when our brains were the best and it was fabulous and then we tried to play our own copy a few hours later and we just wanted to melt so so approach it with wakefulness and extra coffee but i really did love the demo okay so the big high game i've seen around here has been scaring me we tried it yeah no i have i have an appointment to play it tonight at six so i'm going to play you're going to play with some good people i hope so i mean they're my friends which doesn't mean they're good people i hope it's okay cool all right cool you had a good rest of the time thank you you too see you look look who i found it's look it's right there it's right there it's popping monty yes how's it going

35 from shut up and sit down guys he came all the way from the uk across the pond i can smell a moon pie well then you know what i'm known for and look just like that you don't have those in the uk no we don't this is completely new to me and this is just like in a certain area of the u.s so really it's not even in this area like okay what areas in the uh southeast all right where i'm from north carolina south carolina georgia florida okay so yeah you need to that by the way i've brought that down like eric summer all right gabe so i had two of them to give to eric summer i just gave tiffany ralph one so that's the second one wait you gave tiffany wrap hers first because i saw her first before mine tiffany come here come here sorry come here for a second can i have can i have your moonpot oh yeah i can't i can't i was gonna share it okay hold on watch okay here you go you're going to get the first moon pot and then i'm going to give tiffany because he was upset because he didn't get the person i have just ruined relations between the us and the uk i apologize world we'll get over it we'll be fine okay you having a good con so far yeah i am how about you fantastic what uh what game have you uh really enjoyed i was putting you on the spot no it's fine i just i feel like a kind of a repeating record now or something because i keep saying the castle is a bloodwig game i haven't played that yet i like it and it's uh i like suburbia and it's got some of the similar kind of

07 things going on that suburbia has going on right with you know lots of placement of rooms but it plays a bit differently it doesn't feel like it's just repeating the ideas and it's kind of a bit more ridiculous as well there's weird stuff that happens as you start to build the castle and you put things like a bottomless pit oh it's just slightly funny and i liked it and i like the kind of the feel of it and it's uh it's got a degree of complexity but it's not really very difficult to learn so i'm a bit of i think i'm a bit of a fan and that might be my game of the card all right so we might see that on a future episode yeah i hope so uh it might be a couple of weeks ahead i mean i'm going to be here for like a week oh really yeah i'm going to do something you do called thanksgiving i don't know you can't do that with might be simple with like people okay who we just talked to just a few seconds ago in a previous clip the whole thing is just everyone this is crazy so well i hope they do thanksgiving right probably i hope so you gotta at least have the turkey just always at least half the turkey and you gotta watch some american football we'll see maybe yeah we don't have the real football over here on thanksgiving just the american version okay so anyway we'll enjoy the rest of you stay in the uk and i got to go try to find castle i know castle castles castles of the mad king ludwig something like that yeah it's got castles on the box oh that's easy enough there's no other games with castles written on the box not here right

38 cool thank you man thanks for having me thanks for having me on sure here are the miniatures the post painted perspective they're gorgeous chad okay we're trying out the new game that's coming out there's casey back there coming out from spectre ops from plaid hat games designed by emerson right there and brittany's over there too tony just leaned out to the hunters in there somewhere there's the bunny ears anyway this is like a deduction game kind of like like a nuns on the run or lettuce and white chapel it is really cool and we're going to probably see it probably in the spring summer time time frame but keep your eye on this this has been another hot game at the bgg spectre ops flathead so tonight is the closing ceremonies and everybody's packed in here let's check it out

40 wow it's amazing that we were able to find the same location where we did our opening yep for our closing you would never know that we did it within you know a few minutes it's amazing exactly now let's just recap all that's happened since that time so okay so we did play in the doomtown tournament this guy came in third i came in fifth out of six pure net deck pure that i had no clue what i was doing and i came in third it was hilarious but we did get to see the true pros there glenn and cheryl um from couple versus couples versus cardboard i would kept one and say something else but yes they came in first and second and then yeah third it was a good learning experience yes we're in the game a lot more uh we it really is a different game than what we're used to playing with netrunner and i think we're going to have to work on that get out of that netrunner mixed in so that's okay cool and then uh tonight was the big closing ceremonies for uh bggcon yeah marty came in he was seven away from getting a prize package so oh well that was you know there was a proposal at the end of it which was kind of cool and everybody got all excited about like marriage proposals what i mean um i'm a sentimental guy somebody um unfortunately while he was playing spectral ops did not get to go demo the daryl louder new game bottom of the ninth i did and we'll discuss that in a future episode but that that was real i appreciate daryl thank you for letting

10 me try that out it was it was it was a neat game and hopefully day five i'll get to go try cause i'll still have it out tomorrow and it plays quick so i'm going to try it oh let's see tonight we'll play some cash and guns oh we um got to play uh city of gears city of gears the new dt essential game from arcane wonders like sheriff of nottingham is a dt essential game uh so this one is going to be two they're tweaking it they they're taking a lot of suggestions on it i think it could be a nice little light fast euro-ish type game i i it was interesting i won so i know there's something wrong with it i'm not supposed to win a game my first place so anyway now we're we we've got a big um they're playing two rooms and a boom and it's fixing to get loud here so we're gonna need to sign off and um actually tony i think's gonna stay up and try to play imperial assault i think i'm gonna go to bed so i'm a trooper here i'm only going to come here once maybe twice maybe who knows we'll see i will see you here next year all right on to day five tomorrow
