IPs that NEED a board game | 51

O, this is a fun one. IPs that absolutely need a board game. Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the daily vlog. Here I have Street Fighter because this one here was translated into an IP. However, I only got it played lightly once and it was okay. I don't think it was enough for me to really solidify an opinion just yet and I will get this played this year. But overall, I've heard so many bad poor things about Street Fighter, which is really sad because I went all in on this one. And actually, I didn't go all in, but I got a lot of the stuff, like a lot. So, let's take a quick look at some of the miniatures that were provided in this game because the miniatures in this game go crazy. One thing you absolutely cannot deny is the absolute insane production quality of these miniatures.
These are some of the best minis I've ever seen in any board game. And the amount of details and colors and just vibrancy of these minis go absolutely crazy. This is Rasheed. He's like the wind. I'm not the most familiar with Street Fighter 5. Like I mostly know one and two, but I've always loved Street Fighter. It's like an IP that I've really enjoyed, but I've like dipped my toes in Street Fighter here and there. This is Nali, which kind of reminds me a lot of Akuma. Like look at the strands of aura and power on its back and just like the amount of hair details. Like you cannot deny that this is one goodlooking game. But for some reason I only heard like just a ton of negative things that happened with Street Fighter. So this is why this game has collected dust on my shelf and hasn't been played for quite some time. But definitely will get it played much more and this is something that I I definitely want to review this year.
However, today's overall topic is games that you want to see as an IP. I'll tell you immediately the top three that I want to see right now. First one is one that everyone has been asking for and that is Pokemon. We need a Pokemon board game. The closest that we've got to it is like the Pokemon Monopoly version where I remember there was like a little miniature squishy Pikachu and that was like one of my favorite things, but that was it. That was like the extent of the complexity of Pokemon that we got. And it was nice that a lot of it was themed on Pokemon, but that was the closest thing ever to what we could get. And it just made me think about like, oh man, this game would be so good in a tabletop form. I know people have also done some fan favorites where there's like a giant Kanto version of Pokemon, but for me, the closest thing that I would want to see in Pokemon would be like a hybrid between Osworn and Vantage. Here's why.
Okay, hear me out here. For Osworn, Osworn, there's one big boss battle. Pokemon, the definition of Pokemon is boss battles because we go around and fight gym leaders. But it would be fun if you were Red and going through Red's journey just like you did through the series. And you go around and you fight gym leaders. But then as you do, there's this super long narrative campaign that gives a really fun, compelling story. There's all of this music because Pokemon like everyone loves Pokemon music. And then you have, you know, music as you're traveling through Verdian Forest and Pewer City and Mount Moon. Like, oh, that'd be so cool, right? And then like in Osworn, once you reach a city, you can interact with different NPCs and go to different spots which will lead you along uh like a general quest or you could have some side quests which will ultimately lead you to the gym fight. But it would be so cool and expensive, but you know, again, it would be expensive to build out 150 Pokemon, but that hasn't like it's been done before. That would be the ultimate fan service to Pokemon because maybe like as you're traveling through the forest, you can roll a dieice and then you can spawn Pokemon with tiles and it would have like a 4x4 grid or a 2x3 grid and you roll a dieice and then you'll see, oh, a wild Okay, Veneton, not is not inverting forest. Wild Caterpie Metapod appeared and oh my god, you had a rare Pikachu that has appeared as well. Can you catch it? You will die.
you have some damage modifiers and if you catch and successful, you can put Pikachu in like a really cool 3D Pokeball set that will just sit right there on your party of six or and then you can constantly level up your Pokemon by battling and training because that's like the key to Pokemon and ultimately you get to the gym leader, you have one epic boss fight with a giant Onyx. I'm just talking about the first gym leader. We have, you know, one giant onyx here that has that kind of dynamic boss battle movement like you would have in Osworn as you're controlling a party of, in this case, six instead of four characters. So overall, I think Pokemon would just be like this is a game that everyone has been wanting to see. And the reason why I also mentioned Vantage earlier too was because Vantage is nice because the setup is incredibly fast.
And as you get into the gameplay right away, you're moving into different worlds within every single turn. And if Pokemon could do something like that, too, I think it'd be a ton of fun. Now, second game I really want to see translated uh from an IP over to tabletop form is definitely Mortal Kombat. Probably the closest to Street Fighter and one that they did announce with I think it was Jasco Games. They talked about having a Mortal Kombat tabletop version, but I guess it never panned out. I don't know. I feel like for Mortal Kombat, there hasn't been a fan service to Mortal Kombat for a really long time. Like, yes, people bagged on the the first and second movies. They had their issues, but I think at the time, they were some of the coolest things that existed in the '9s/ early 2000s. And then, of course, the games from like at least the first couple were some of the best that people have ever played. There's a reason why Mortal Kombat is one of the best fighting games. And I can easily see that translated into tabletop form. I don't know if I want this kind of bluffing mechanic, though. I feel like for some reason bluffing in action fighting games just it isn't as fun as I as I thought it'd be. Maybe it's because I haven't seen bluffing done, right? But I would actually prefer to see Mortal Kombat. Not necessarily in the same way as Street Fighter was done, but like more so in an RPG element, too. There was a game back then. It was like a Mortal Kombat world where you would have I think it was Jinszo Shujinko. Shujinko was your main character that was really young and he learned a lot of the different fighters techniques over time and he traveled through this RPG world.
And I thought that was one of the best Mortal Kombats ever. It was so much fun because you already got used to knowing these fighters and then now you get to learn with them and absorb their power and and then become this really strong master by the end of the game which I really loved. If I can see that translated into tabletop form, I think it'd be a ton of fun. And of course have that confrontation element where you are fighting against another player. I just I don't necessarily need to see this is a scorpion miniature fighting against Subzero miniature and then we play only three different cards. I want Mortal Kombat to have a lot more depth than that because you might as well make a trading card game if it's going to be something like that, which I think they already have, too. Last but not least, the IPs I'm about to mention have already been made into a tabletop form, but some of them I don't think were translated that well. So, first off is Marvel. Now, Marvel has gotten, let's see, Crisis Protocol, which I think is super cool and fun already as it is. And then also got Dice Throne. So, I think Marvel has been done time and time again, and it just fits so seamlessly in Dice Throne specifically that I don't really need to see Marvel in any other games because Dice Throne is the perfect fit to it. If I want to play as Black Panther, if I don't play as Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, I have the game that actually makes me feel like those superheroes in tabletop form. But I haven't played TMNT just yet. I know TMNT was like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I know was in a Sean game or one where like it was an accent. It wasn't a standalone, I think. And then there was also Power Rangers Heroes of the Grid, which I heard a lot of mixed things about, mostly trending towards
the negative side. the one by I think it's Renegade Games. So, if any of you have played any TMNT games that I haven't heard of or if you've played the Power Rangers games, let me know which one I should get or if I should just hold off on those because I've been wanting to play a Tnt or Power Rangers game too for sure. It just I don't think I've heard enough good things about it just yet to bite the bullet on either of those games. And Tment specifically, I want a Leonardo dual wielding sword miniature. that's all painted and just beautifully done. And I would love to have a game where they're leveling up, too. I would love to hear all of your ideas for the IPs that you want to see in board games right now. Go and let me know what kind of IP you want to see and what kind of game that you want to see be made into. Honestly, you all have some amazing amazing ideas that I hope will one day get translated into a real board game as well. With that said, if you made the end, go ahead and comment RPG because we want our IPs translated with more depth. And I feel like having an RPG will set up the stage for more involved, deeper, complex IP translation. Thank you all so much for watching and I will see you all
