You're looking for two-player card games? I got you. These games are all very small box, easy to learn, you can take anywhere with you, and they're great games. Mindbug is probably my favorite two-player card game of all time. You are playing cards down to attack your opponent, but twice per game, you can use a Mindbug card to take control of the card they just played. In Compile, you're playing down cards to fight for control of three different locations. You can play cards face up, face down. There's a lot of intrigue here. In Desperate Oasis, you're also playing cards down with various strength values to fight over different locations. You're playing animal cards, and different animals get you different special abilities. In Kiri, the Duel, you both play as samuris. You'll put down cards to move backwards and forwards on the field of battle, change poses, and try to strike your opponent.

Duel for Cardia has a simple central idea, but it's really fun. You both put down cards. The higher card wins a point, but the lower card gets to use its awesome special ability. In confusing lands, you are drafting cards and then using them to build out a terrain area in front of you. You want certain symbols next to each other, certain symbols not next to each other. There's a lot of different ways to score points in this game. I'm hosting a live comedy game show near San Francisco at Rooster Te Feathers Comedy Club this Wednesday, December 10th. It's going to be super fun. Come on out.
