8:41 Hey everybody. I think I got it. Hooray. A little bit of trouble this morning. I'm getting logged out of everything all the time. How's everybody doing? I have been busy with many things. We are trying to organize stuff around here. And um there's way, way more than we have, you know, it's just it's hilarious. We have a lot of games. And we keep getting more. And uh we're trying not to go berserk. We there is uh Nikki and I were discussing some game that we actually want to own, and I'm like, I'm not sure I want to buy it right now. But, here's the deal. You like a game, you better buy it because it might not be available soon. Um and this is a game that could be that. So, we definitely need to get it.

9:27 Um I hope everybody's doing well. I have been working a little bit on the minis. Actually, let me cut to that. Let me get to that angle. There we go. Um so, I'm going to work on uh Captain Carter. She's really awesome. I mean, Captain Carter is the reason why I went all in on Hey, thanks for the follow, Terra Wind. Captain Carter is the reason I went all in on the um Marvel United uh multiverse because I wanted this mini and it was like I don't remember what it was in, but I'm like, "I'm getting it." Um I love it. Um but I pretty much think I finished um Hey, thanks for thanks for checking in, Terrawyn.

10:22 I'm happy that you're big BG fan. So am I. Um I uh painted all three of these. I've The base is brighter. I'm I may still do a wash that's a little darker on the um Avengers paraphernalia on the bottom of these. Um but I do like them and I think it's it's generally kind of dark enough. Maybe some of the colors I will put something on, but I do love the shield and Iron Man's helmet and Mjolnir and Spider-Man's mask. Um it's cool. So I I did paint the base. I'm going to actually do that really quickly this morning. Again, I usually do a This is something that Adam Uncle Adam over at uh Tabletop Tycoon taught me.

11:13 Um when we were doing um We had him do a live stream during the pandemic when we had um our online convention. And thanks very much, Terrawyn. Um on our online convention and uh he uh we sent him actually these uh the very first box of um Marvel United. Um and so he painted the Hulk and I don't remember the second one. It might have been Iron Man. Um but he showed painting the bases with black and then painting a coat of contrast over it. And he uses black Templar.

12:02 That's the one I use, but I also love black Legion. But since I've been started using black Templar and black Legion didn't exist at that time, I've continued using black Templar. So, let's stick it to this uh Let's stick it to the base here and just do this really quickly. Thankfully, this paint dries a little kind of bit slower. Um but let me see here. I will use one of these Sacks brushes for this. Let me make sure these are clean. I think I left soap in them when I um

So I usually start on the back where you're not really seeing it cuz you you can see here there was an overlap. You can see the shine there where I start and I go to um I go clockwise around it.

13:28 Uh this is not a big enough brush, but we'll see. Um So I brush to the right, but I rotate to the left. I mean But this actually does a really nice job of removing the brush strokes. You don't So the issue about painting on these that you're trying to avoid is you don't want the paint to tear. So when it gets to Well, that's kind of messy. Whatever. Um When you get to the other end, it's going to be drying and if you tear it, the film is the the drying film on top, it just looks terrible.

14:15 Um Again, not a big deal. This is just me being a you know, ridiculous. Um but uh I try to avoid it. And I'm only putting a coat on. I'm not worried about you know, it's already black. It just looks pretty nice, but you can see already it's drying. Now it's um pretty dry here. We've had a little bit of um We're kind of in the marine layer. Um so during the It's basically in June it's called June gloom. Um we are not in June. We are just about to be in April.

15:20 Oof, it's not really sticking very well. I don't want it to stick too well because I had a heck of a time I left the other one on all weekend. Even though I came out here and oof, I painted that. Gosh darn it. That's too much paint. I don't want to be black there because it is gray. So I'm just cleaning it up and hilariously it's pretty black there. So I don't I guess maybe I didn't need to worry about it. Although it will look different. It is a different tone. I'm going too far the other direction.

16:00 But I really look forward to Captain Carter. I do not know why I didn't start with that one. I Well, you know why I didn't start with that? I had Immortus primed. I was kind of excited about that one cuz I wanted to work on the cloak cape. So I had those three primed and I started with those and then I I think I just wanted to do this one. I think this was number two of the multiverse box that I have. So I think I don't know if Captain Carter was I feel like she wasn't in She must have been in the main box though. Maybe there was something else that I wanted. Um I could be thinking of um Marvel Zombies because I contemplated buying that one and I think maybe that was what triggered me not to buy it. Could have been one of them where it's like, you know, you got the zombie version. I think that was the one I'm confusing things with. Um but I wanted to um

17:02 wanted to paint her want to paint the Loki that's in the main box. We should be able to look at oof. This is not the best handle. Um It is one I've used for decades. It's just a dowel that has poster tack on it and you could tell it's been a little bit through the wringer as far as painting goes. Now, let's pull that off. Let's look at the other one that was painted. You can see it's already got a better sheen. These brushes are distracting the focus. So it's it's a great I don't know if Adam came up with this. It's not completely dry yet, but it definitely smooths out the brush strokes because you're you're using Well, I'm using um for my black Pro Acryl coal black.

17:55 I'm getting paint on my hand. Um and their paints can be relatively flat. Uh and in this case, it's very flat. This is the paint. You can see the brush strokes, right? They're things the way things are drying. And this other coat of contrast paint. Now, I don't know if Adam still uses the contrast paint. He might use Grim Black um now. Um cuz he is a uh First of all, he really loves the um the uh whole speed paint line and their paints. He's been using their stuff. He is now part of their factory team, I think is what it's called. And so he's basically just using that stuff. And I got to tell you, it's not terrible. They're really nice paints.

18:44 They're a lot cheaper than the than the paints from um Games Workshop. I just got a little splotched on the thingy there. So it's this game I've So I'm painting three because one is a friend of mine. Well, they're both friends of mine. One of them is my boss. Uh Scott wasn't painting his. And I had already started painting two and I actually asked Brian if he wanted to do it. Uh Brian knew cuz he has everything. And you know, I'm like it's easier for me to paint three and I also kind of just want to paint see what it's like to do that. Although I got to tell you, bad idea, too much effort. So much work to do, but um this game just comes with 10 minis, the base game.

19:39 Um most of them are like six to eight on the expansions, which you mostly can only get through the Kickstarter. Um Some of them are available. I think really the first wave is kind of more available than others. I do not know what I mean that's a lot of skews. I can see why they don't do it. Um, I did do the recently did the um DC Superheroes United. I backed that whole campaign. I don't know that we're going to get that. I hope so. But if they're having troubles um but they did release a few months back the um the Batman Hush one which is a box set that they had said from the start is going to be available.

20:25 And it was eight figures. So I did Superman I mean Batman. Um, let me close this up. I will surprise even though it's in the holder. I will probably spill it. Um So this one I used a little you know, I used some airbrushing to do the highlighting from the spotlight. Um and it's pretty cool. Uh, I really like these. Um

20:54 Wow, you found shallow sea Zaco. That's awesome. Um yeah, we you heard us say we made a mistake. So we we will fix that. I think we'll probably put a note in there. Um this is the Superman What is he called? Controlled? So he's a you know, he's a um anti-hero kind of thing. Um He's pretty good. His face is a little dark. I may go back and then try to do that a little bit. But uh that one turned out cool. I'm glad you found that game. People are asking how to get it and I'm not sure. It's from Uh you can get it it's a Korean publisher. They actually asked us about a new game of theirs which we'll probably look at. This is Hush which I don't know this character but I absolutely love painting this one.

21:48 Here's the Joker. He turned out really cool. Um Here is Huntress which I don't know her either but I would like I really love painting this one as well. I like the night time roof kind of thing going on here. Um Gosh, is this it? Oh wait, we got three more. So here's um Harley Quinn really fun to paint. Uh I actually really enjoyed painting the the dust cloud from her hammering the floor here which was really cool. I was very happy with that result. I actually did something like that previously and did not turn out the way I would have liked it. This is Catwoman. She's cool. Um Probably not enough highlights. There's a little bit on her.

22:37 They're not all varnished though. That's the problem. Some of them are and then Robin Tim Drake. Uh They're all cool. I really love them. I do hope the rest of them come out. I'm probably more of a I was at least when I was a comic sort of comic book person. Nikki is way way more into comics than I am. And she gets way more esoteric ones than I do. Um I was more of a DC person and I was really basically uh the Dark Knight and stuff like that when I was a teen. Um Those are amazing. I bought the anthologies. I was not a weekly you know, I didn't buy comic books on comic book day or anything like that. So we've got these drying. They're pretty much dry. No, not that one. But yeah, you can see how much better it makes the paint job. It it gives it a sheen that the Pro Acryl does not have and that's cool. I like Pro Acryl being um semi-matte uh or matte. I don't feel all of them are like that but the black definitely is. Um and it's a minor league thing to do. You can also I'm I won't varnish this part. Um I'll varnish the rest and I'm trying to figure out exactly what I want to do for the metallics.

23:50 But um uh still drying there. Don't touch it. Yeah, my friend at local game store had a few copies and an expansion. Wow. Um yeah, the scoring error is not a big deal. Well, it should be fine. We'll make the make a note in the stuff and it should work cuz it's a final thing and we just it'll change the numbers a little bit. Um I think in our episode somebody had a lot of sea life and not necessarily a lot to complete it but they might have gotten a few more points from that. So uh the rest of us I'm pretty sure it could re I can't remember who actually won but it could sh shift it a little bit. Um oh I know I remember who I remember who won. Um and that might change her score too. So uh it's cool. I really like it. It'll probably be an episode soonish. We I think we're going to do We have um Cozy Sticker Ville coming soon.

24:49 But one issue is we've been avoiding Deborah episodes. I mean we've been putting them out but we do we try to do one a month. Cuz we have a few in the can and she is you know, busy. She's in New York I believe filming um season 3 of um Daredevil Born Again I guess that's what it's called. And she's in a lot of the episodes this season. Um yeah, cuz it's going from two to well, if you have multiples if you have three that's two to six. That's another four points. So we'll see. It'll all be clear. We'll make sure I might even have Nikki shoot a little bit of a thing to say clearly so it's not a note. Um that that scoring thing is uh different. So we'll see. Um But I know I know it'll probably be fine but not everybody reads the screen.

And we're going to use what I just put away which I should have known I'm going to need it. Um Gilliman Flesh. Gilliman Flesh is my favorite. I wonder what the flesh tone is. They have peachy flesh. So I have a few of the Wow, there's a lot. Um peachy flesh. I wonder if that one's a good one. Never used it. I'm going to use the Gilliman. I know it best. Um Hey Amanda. I wonder why this is so tiny now.

27:54 The zoom is so it's command plus, right? There we go. A little bigger. Um I really like this paint. I was disappointed initially. I've told this story many times until I realized you need to use the Wow, I'm going to need more contrast medium. Um you need to use the contrast medium to lessen the intensity of the color. Um and I still tend to go a little too dark. So she's British. She's not going to have much of a tan. Um

28:54 Um But yeah, I'm going to start and I'm going to do a lot of medium. We're going to start off. Let me shake this too. But yeah, I'm glad you found that game Zaco. That's awesome. We don't have I've I've been looking for it. Um and and haven't seen it. Uh That's shallow sea. We played it. Nikki and I played it last week on Thursday, I think. Um And thankfully somebody caught Somebody else was writing saying that it should only be fish on bubbles. I believe that's the only thing we were counting is the fish that were not cuz any of the other fish on the coral wouldn't count. So I'm not exactly certain and they changed I think they edited their comments.

29:43 But um but we do know. Hopefully it'll all be fine. It's a weird one and it's I think it's just you can't you got to really read it carefully. It's a and it's a box. It's a box and it should be focused on. Nikki just didn't catch it, which is fine. Um We don't guarantee to We We try to teach it well uh correct. That's one bit where we didn't get it right. Um But we don't guarantee we're going to play it right. And if we put that note on there, it should be good. Um

30:32 But I really like that game. So we did they sent it to us to do um I think an in focus video for it. And Nick and Mike did it. That's too dark. I'm pretty sure. We can look. I can paint it on something and we can see here. But I think it's too dark. Um So my problem is is what happens is you get stuff looking like they have a 5:00 shadow. And it's not especially not appropriate for the female characters. Let me just look and see what it looks like on my nail. Too dark. So you can see it's pretty still pretty dark. But this is what's great about this color is it really does a great job for flesh across the spectrum for you know, humanoid flesh.

31:27 Um I really like it. But initially I was just like I can't get it to be light enough. You know, and I won't I don't know what I was doing because I know I used the contrast medium from day one. I bought it because I I'm like you're going to need that. And um it was uh

31:57 Well, that might be too light, but that's okay. Because in this case her skin it's pretty bright. Her flesh uh on her face is pretty bright because I I cheat and I put on a good amount of um highlights on the faces to get them looking right. So I'm trying to decide here. I guess I'll just go for it. Nope, too dark. Wow. Wow. Let me try a little bit thinner coat and see.

32:37 Maybe not. I really want her to be pale. Now it's the undercoating is not a good undercoating for a warm flesh tone. Because I I like using the cool gray. Um Well, it's also because I'm painting these highlights are black. It starts black and then goes gray. Um and then goes white. And it's a much cooler res end result. Um The way that contrast paints and speed paints are designed to be done is um you just paint them over a bright undercoating.

33:23 And in this case it's a um it's a uh I mean most cases there there's a wraithbone and then I used greysier. Greysier is a cooler um undercoating. That was when I first um I bought a can of that cuz I was in Dallas and I was showing Scott trying to get him to in into it. He ended up painting his mini a bunch of his minis, but now I'm painting them obviously. Um But uh

33:59 So I bought rattle can. He He didn't have an airbrush. I don't think he still has one. Um But he doesn't necessarily need one. Um And you know, it's it's it's a skill too. You got to work on it. Yeah, so she's kind of bluish. It'll be fine. The high you know, the So I want to stop touching now.

Uh and that is in the the um the uh manufacturer of this one, which is a bummer. Um I don't want to try to fill it. I'm just going to go with it and let her She's on her way to becoming a zombie. Um

35:21 I'm pretty sure I was only going to buy the main box and the thing and I can't I think she might have been part of something else. It's I I don't I can't believe that's true though because um I believe I've only primed the stuff from the main box. So she's part of it. Maybe there was something else I wanted. Um

35:57 I almost feel like you just should paint the whole thing in here because you're going to paint white over it. And then that way it means you get the right amount of color for her um in and around her eyes. Cuz I'm I was noticing it's a little gray on this one and absolutely on the other one. Now I'm doing it you know, it's thin. You got to do these paints relatively thin anyway. Um Looks pretty good here. So it should dry pretty quickly.

Um I did uh I tried doing I had a problem with I you know, I I was doing a dry brushed version of the undercoating, which is another option. And I was very unhappy with her face because it looked like she had a 5:00 shadow. And you can see it's just too too much I worked the white or flesh color, who knows what I put down there too much and it it you don't want to do that. You really need to make it thin thin layers. And I just overdid it.

Um So, first thing I'm going to do is paint light. I'm going to use this fine um pretty fine. It's a zero. It should do the job. It's a um It's an older version. I think they've changed the name. I can't remember if they've changed Bomb Wick as well, but um Monument Hobbies have changed them slightly. I do believe they're still using um Kolinsky sable, which is hard to get. I guess there's like a limit to how much they can ship. I don't know if These might even be made in Germany. Um but uh because of all the troubles, they are restricting that, which is a total bummer.

44:43 Um cuz brushes are super expensive now. Let me shake this up. The white is hanging in there. I was telling you about the silver that I could not get to reintegrate, and it's very strange. I absolutely used it on the Batman miniature a few months back, and it just seized up. Just the whole bottle. I was like, "Wow." I kept trying to thin it and add I mean, it's a Vallejo paint. Uh and I tried to use um their uh airbrush thinner, and you know, it didn't cut it. It's really a bummer. Okay. Oh, I was saying that these were not available. These are mixing balls that I bought from So, the the white ones, the very bright ones, come from inside These are the ones that they put inside these bottles. Probably in this one, but definitely on the more recent ones.

45:40 Um the green ones are the ones you can buy, and it's like 50 for 250 or something like that. Um I bought five packages of them, and they just put them in one one bag. And then I took the 10 or whatever, 2 4 6 8 10, um out of the bottles, cuz I changed the lids. I switched I'm switching everything to these

46:03 um Wow, where did I put all that stuff? Um I I'm going to probably buy more. I'm switching from the um I should have one eyedropper one. I do. Here's one. I'm getting rid of all the twist ones and putting in the eyedropper ones. These are just easier. I don't Again, I've said many times, no bottle is great. Um I'm particularly unhappy with the Games Workshop ones, but I fixed this one. It kept opening back up. It's a little maybe open on this edge, but it was just opening and open I could not figure out what it was. So, I did a pretty good job of cleaning it out. There might be a flashing issue, you know, like the the mold injection, cuz you can see This is a different kind of plastic. This is the one from Actually, it's purple because I used this to then clean the other one, so I didn't spill it.

46:53 This is the contrast medium lid, and it's just terrible. Like, it's banged up, and part of it is probably cuz of me trying to clean out the seal so that it does a better job uh sealing. Um and it's nice. It's soft. It, you know, it does a pretty good job as far as keeping it fresh, but man, that that just I don't know. And you can see, it just builds up. Um and I try to use So, the way to really I mean, you know, it's mixing it. But you're supposed to really I don't know if you're supposed to, but you take it off of this little um uh kind of it's like a uh a scoop, and I just take the paint off of there until it I'm done, and you know, I don't have any more, and then I'll either shake it up or get go reach into the bottle. Um This is live.

47:41 How are you, Leah? How you doing? Yeah, I'm I um I am painting live. Um Let's see here. So, I'm going to get a little bit of white. I'm actually going to put it on my wet palette. I've actually prepped the wet palette uh properly. Now, you can see here, this is I've used this once. Now, they have these um Gosh, gosh, what do they call them? Membranes. I need to remember that. The ones from um Redgrass have a modern one that they call a membrane that you can reuse. Um and it's pretty legit. But I will tell you now, unless you overly use these, I've done I've wet this palette five times, and I've used it maybe twice. Um cuz there's a lighter whitish brown there, uh brownish white, and then this black.

48:37 Um you can easily just rinse it, and um and let it dry, and then reuse it, and it does a pretty good job. Um But what I It's really kind of critical for me here is that it does the paint dries so quickly on a palette. Um I use tiles, so I have um Is this a small one? I use tiles to um uh mix paint on it stuff, and I still use it sometimes, but it dries so quickly, and I'm working, you know, I I it just I I'm sure it's I can use retarder. I have um Golden Retarder.

49:25 The issue with using this, it it makes it more like an oil paint. It lasts longer. I need to move these out of shot. Um but it makes it too long of a dry time for me, and I cannot use it on the speed paints, I don't believe. Um Uh what's the other thing I can use? Um I also have um gosh, I don't even know if I have that. I have um And it's good for acrylics. Uh good gosh. The wet stuff I use is from Windsor Newton, but there's lots of uh flow improver. Flow improver, I've used Windsor Newton flow improver for 30 years. Um I mean, I literally have some bottles that are 30 years old. Um So, let me put a little bit of water on the palette. I'll use I I usually put like a little dollop of essentially of of um uh distilled water.

50:21 The whole palette is not distilled water, so it's not really that big of a deal, but it prevents it from um getting too much. I We don't have a lot of mineral deposits here, so it's not really that big of a deal. But, I will take some of it and mix it to in a separate pool. You can see it pulling the

50:42 paint pigment right out. Actually, you may not be able to see that. So, we're going to go with that. It will generally stay there for a little while, too, the water bubble. Now, you don't want your brush to be too full. It already was too full from just mixing it.

51:20 So, I work from the inside out. Now, I did not I did the flesh already. That's because I wanted to go with the mix around. Boy, it's kind of splotchy. This one is not great. Um I'll probably work on smoothing it out. So, I'm going to keep building on top of it, so it isn't that big of a deal if I get a little bit of um white outside of the eye here. This is an interesting one. I don't know if I've painted

51:56 any of these newer ones. I must have, but I don't What are his eyes like? Did he even do them? Yeah, I did them. Um They're maybe just making her eyes larger. Ugh. That's a little bit too much for me.

52:40 So, the angle, I don't want to touch her nose. Ah. And I just basically did. If you get in there with a white brush, and that's not even doing it here. See how quickly this stuff dries. Um I also may be painting too soon on the flesh here. I think it's just I'm actually thinking it's paint and it is not. It's the sheen of her cheek going into the eye socket.

It won't dry. Um you really can't do that. You can sort of use them between days, but you can't go very long, and um they separate with a wet palette.
