The Weekly Alaboom - Feb 25, 2026
Transcript
Here we go. It is the weekly alibabu. It is the 25th of February, the year of our Lord, 2026. Um, as always, I have to sit around and wait for everybody else to show up. But in the meantime, we can amuse ourselves with witty banter and discussions about things that may or may not uh be important to whoever happens to be watching right at this instant. Um it is uh we got our last gasp of winter up here in well hopefully uh up here in Minnesota and uh but it's going to warm up tomorrow.
It's going to get above freezing for a couple of days and then it is going to go right back down below freezing again. But next week we're supposed to get a string of uh weather uh 50°ree weather. Um uh and we're supposed to get a lot of it. Uh so once again we've managed to get through another winter and we're on our way uh to you know enjoying uh better better uh um I don't even know what the word I'm looking for here. Uh better days with warmer temps and my grass can become green and what have you. Hello Kabuki. welcome. Thank you so much for showing up. Um, what's on my mind recently?
You know, I I watched a fair amount of the Olympics and, you know, kudos to all of the uh athletes who parttook. Um, I remember watching uh the hockey gold medal game and being astoundingly uh happy uh to see the uh United States team win the gold. And then it immediately became sour sour tasting fruit in my mouth after the pile of garbage. Uh that is uh um how we handle these things and in this uh in this shitty goddamn world that we live. um uh not to be I mean it's just it was like just how else can you just destroy something that should be something momentous and amazing and just by belittling uh just just reverting ourselves back to our most base of uh um uh standard dull boring misogynistic crap. Um yeah, just just to just to go
back and wallow in that pile of filth again because we just can't somehow grow up and and and do any better. Um but yeah, no. Uh I uh uh so yeah, I mean it was like you just can't possibly um uh uh just let people enjoy something. We just got to we got to like pile on this this ridiculous stupid um amount of uh uh bloated garbage and and it's just and it just it's it's it's just an all-encompassing failure.
Failure for like the you know admittedly when he cracks his stupid joke about well I guess I got to invite the girls too. You know, when you do that and then, you know, you have that moment where like, oh my gosh, it's like you have like the nervous laughter, but then you have a moment to think to yourself and then you have a moment to say, wait a minute, no, that was lame and stupid and we shouldn't have done that. And then no, but nobody has the balls uh to say anything about it whatsoever. You know, I I just um you know, I will say this, the the five players that did not go um uh four of the five were all uh Minnesota born, so I guess I can I can at least say that's cool. Um, of course the players that play for the team that I follow, uh, Minnesota Wild, they went, they were happy to go, which, you know,
what are you going to do anyway? Um, you know, well that Kabuki, you said not one of them came forward and apologized and and um the Jack Hughes quasi like oh well that team the girls team knows that we support them, you know, like like No, they don't. You you could you could just make a a a massive statement and just say that was an incredibly wrong thing to say. You could just say that and that would be um much better than not saying anything. And and and to for that matter the the people that didn't go cool but they could say something too. And I and I get it. There's like there's pressure, you know, that there that they feel that from, you know, not only their team, but their coaches and things like that. And and and you hate to say it, but is is it is it even is it likely that they would they would have to deal with any sort of um uh would you have to deal with any sort of like backlash from say you know like in the NHL like you know if you would you have to ever deal with like somebody you know saying oh well you know you're just kind of an outspoken person and just don't want to have you on our team because of that. I mean, is that is that
as that's absolutely something that could happen? I I don't know. There's a lot of there's a lot of stuff that I, you know, don't have the right answers always and I don't always know what the right thing is to do or say or whatever, but I do feel like there's uh a fair amount of just um fair amount of garbage or whatever out there that uh that people just end up um I don't know just doing dumb stuff. I I have noticed now more than ever I mean not not Hey Aldi, what's going on?
How's it going?
Um I have there is another another note of things that annoy the hell out of me. I have noticed now there is so much just AI garbage video out there now that people are just creating constantly. I I just
it's just so like everpresent in everything now. I I'm just it just disgusts me. It's just absolutely and and it's like and and everybody was like, "Oh yeah, we're almost there." When when people are just going to have like, you know, you're not going to be able to tell the difference anymore. And it's like, yeah, I mean, absolutely. I mean, it's like, you know, I mean, like there's AI um like do-it-yourself project stuff now where it's just like,
you know, those aren't even real anymore because rivalry was getting overrun with with AI,
you know, like
any tell me that.
Say that again. Sorry.
Ravalry.
I don't I don't
the knitting community. I thought someone
for me the the last the newest thing for me that I found is that it is um it's like people that do the whole like, oh, we're going to renovate somebody's backyard. those videos where it's like, "Oh, we're going to get rid of all this stuff." And it's just, well, I mean, you know, why would we bother actually doing that when it's cheaper and easier just to make an AI video of like a fictitious backyard where we fictitiously prune all the hedges and mow the lawn and and get rid of all the stuff and and then and then dig a hole and make a pool, you know? It's it's just and all of them do it now. They they hide the AIS of it by playing it super fast, right? You know, so it's like because it's
so it's like a time lapse.
It's a time lapse thing.
So you can't really see that it's AI.
You can't really tell. And so you kind of have to like look and you realize that all the people are wearing the exact same vest and wearing the exact same hard hat and things like that. So you realize that they aren't real people. Yeah. I don't know, man. It's all just garbage.
It's just it's just super annoying.
It's so depressing.
Yeah.
And it will get to a point where it'll be so um
I think
like you won't be able to find real [ __ ] anymore, right?
That's the thing. You're going to have to like track down the real things, right? It's gonna be harder to track down the real things. You can
nice nice drink of choice is ripet tribute. Rip it.
Rip it. Rip it. And did you grip it and rip it?
No, it's it's that it's the thing they sell at Menard's. It's like mandarin lime. And it's it's it's it's way better. And they they always cost a buck 25 no matter what. They're a buck 25. And they and Menard's brought back their 11% rebate on everything they sell. So
cool.
Hey Chad,
what's up Chad?
You finished
Good to see you, man.
You finished the uh campaign. Yes, we finished it on Monday at 34 missions or something.
21
20 21 missions. Sorry, was off by a factor there.
Yeah.
How was it?
Um, it didn't end the way I thought it would. I'll just leave it at that.
That is that a good thing or a bad thing?
It was very interesting.
Okay,
I'll leave it at that because there may be some people that play it some days.
Yeah. Don't spoil it or anything.
Yeah. Um,
are you are you happy with the overall experience of 21 games
overall? Yes. Yes.
To play 21 of that game. That's
Yeah, because the bosses are all you need.
Yes. Yes, there are repeats.
Yeah, that's what I don't like about that stuff. But yeah, what can you do?
Yeah. Um,
rated a one.
Yeah. I'm sorry I wasn't here last week. We were out of the country. So
Oh, that's
unacceptable. It wasn't a good time.
It ended up us coming home early because of a hospital trip. So,
well, is everybody okay?
Um, the had some issues, so we
Oh, no.
Yeah.
I mean, yeah. I mean, you fine, but I mean
Yeah, that's right. That's right. The important
not not the important one.
And that that'll be my grievance for this week is uh insurance.
Did you get trip insurance?
No, we didn't have trip insurance. We're we're we're working through which which leads to my grievance of um of uh of insurance and then the way certain third world countries uh handle it if you don't have insurance. So basically uh we'll say during the week uh D wasn't feeling well. She sort of oh I can let it ride. So, it went until she couldn't let it ride anymore. And then we go to a a local clinic at the resort. They charge us $450 to get it checked out. Uh when and then I had to do be the medical assistant there. So, I had to put on gloves and help him with I was like, "Oh my god, what?" And so, uh
yeah, I would be like, "Oh my god, what?"
Yeah. Uh they said, "No, we have to send her to the hospital." So, they charge us another $450 to go to the hospital uh in the ambulance. And we get to the ER and they charge her f charge us $500 to just get a basic look over in the ER. And then they said, oh, we're going to do an ultrasound. That's another $4,000 you have to pay up front. We're like, what? This just sounds like it's escalating, escalating, escalating. Um, and we said, no. Um, and then they said, oh, if you're not going to pay, then you got to get out of here. And then they just call us a cab and send us back to the to the resort and we said, "Fuck this. We're out of here.
We are [ __ ] out of here." And we we just change her flight and the first thing in the morning, boom, we're out.
Is she okay?
Yeah, she's doing much better now. Soon as we got landed in Houston, like first thing we did is we went to the ER. We we spent like six, seven hours there getting everything checked out, getting everything Yeah. We're making sure everything's safe, everything's good. Here's what we need to do. Here's the action action items we need to get it resolved. She had followed up with her specialist and yeah, she's she's not quite 100% but she's getting there.
Okay.
Yeah, it was just a [ __ ]
scary.
It was a [ __ ] thing to happen to otherwise. It was It was okay. It was okay. It was one of those all you can eat uh resorts
do trip insurance now every time.
Yeah. Well, even so, the place the hospitals were just nasty.
This Costa Rica?
No, that was last year. This year was Dominican Republic.
Dominican Republic,
which uh we went to an all-inclusive resort. And that's the other thing. Have you ever eat like a canned corn pizza?
No. I mean, I've had an a low taste pizza.
No, this was straight 100% canned corn. I was like, "What the [ __ ] are they doing?"
But yeah, the food was miserable.
Dominican Republic is that half of half Haiti, half Dominican Republic, right?
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah, it was just
And it's third world
pretty much. Once you're off the resort, it's pretty much
Yeah.
Not no bueno.
Well, that makes my grievance of very um I'm very distressed to hear not feeling well on that trip. That stinks.
Yeah.
I mean, if you weren't feeling well, fine. But I mean,
yeah, like slides.
Yeah,
that's the thing with traveling, man.
I worry about Michelle is still in Australia. She's in New Zealand.
Today is the last day. So, she comes back. She She leaves tomorrow, which means she gets to here on Friday, right? So, her tomorrow her she's Thursday right now, right? She's on Thursday. So, she leaves tomorrow for her, which is two days for me. Does that make sense?
Mhm.
It's 5 hours back in time wise, but it's 24 hours ahead, if
Yeah. One of my dudes at work is like um like 15 minutes from the Great Barrier Reef. So, he comes in like at 4:00 p.m. my time. That's when he starts his day at 8:00 over there.
Yeah.
And
and I just talk to him. He doesn't get eaten by a shark, right?
Yeah. Well, the perks is is like when he takes days off, he just they can fly to Bali in like two hours,
which would be awesome.
Cool.
And then the sharks eat you when you go.
Anything else to talk about that game? Because I got some games to talk about.
No, no, we we finished it. uh took everything to the garage de and she's going to she wants to paint it which I was like
you didn't you're not evicting it.
H
it's a lot of boxes.
Yeah, it's a lot of boxes.
I mean it's like it's like three or four feet tall.
Maybe like in a year or two we'll play it again and just do different characters.
Really? That's is that intriguing?
I I would just like to see how the mechanics of the other characters play.
Um
which character did you play? I played uh kind of like a like a tanky paladin guy and I just leaned into that and just I didn't have a whole lot to worry about uh because I just abused the whole armor system,
right?
And uh but yeah, there's some good things like, you know, there's some neat casters there. There's some bow people. There's some, you know, it's more if you compared it to Gloom Haven, it's more fantasy. It's more traditional fantasy tropes where Gloom Haven kind of reimagined a lot of that stuff.
Yeah.
So it it's more grounded I would say.
It's like if you made it if you took but it's still a boss battler so it's still
Yeah.
you're fighting it's it's like
if they you mix like uh Kingdom Death made it not as G not as not as naked.
Yeah. You know, you're not seeing wieners and boobs everywhere.
A
Yeah, I know it, man. It's
true.
But still a boss battler. It It would be equivalent to that. So now we're just going to take a week off and then we're going to go back and we're going to play um we've been wanting to do Draw Steel for a while. We're going to do that and probably after that do Edgemonia probably unless we can find something else to play.
Agamonia is pretty good. I really like it. Yeah.
So, we played Stone Saga this weekend and I should say we had Well, we played it. It was a It was six hours of tregery treasuring through it. It's a That game, the manual was like 75 pages long
and I didn't read a lick a lick of it. And we watched uh Shane. Is it Shane that the guy that that does the RTFM? Is his name Shane? Uh
I don't know.
RTFM. And he basically
Yeah. Like I know what that means.
Well, it's a video channel. It's a YouTube channel. It's RTFM, right? Which is a
Who watches YouTube channels anymore?
Anyway, go ahead.
We do
cuz we don't want to read 70. Oh, Shay. Not Shane. Shay. Um.
Oh, Shay.
Anyway, he starts at the front at the be at the get-go. It's like, I'm not going to cover all the rules. Like, oh, no. Uh, but I'll I'll get you started. And so, we got started and we played like the guided tutorial, which took us a minute to figure out. Like, we we were we were fighting against it. We were like we didn't realize it was a guided tutorial and we were kind of like, are we supposed to do something else besides what this these cards are telling us to do? you know, like we couldn't we we had an argument about that. We're just like, should we be following these cards or should we be doing something else? And we followed the cards in the end and we got through it. And so you get to learn the basic mechanics and that took several hours. Um then we like jumped into the actual game and we played it for like another couple hours and I just we couldn't the I don't know. I it didn't click.
Like we we were like struggling with the mechanics every little. So it's a it's a crafting game. It's it's a survival crafting game, right? And you're and you have to do a lot of survival. Like there it's almost too much survival. It's almost too much of a simulation of survival. Like you're you're getting hurt all the time and you're running out of food and you're constantly like, "Oh, I'm gonna guess I'm going to do the fishing thing again. I'm gonna go fishing." And the fishing game is like it's fun one or two times, but like the third or fourth time where you're just like doing this fishing mechanic and every every I mean every resource gathering thing is a is a miniame, right? And they're not intuitive and so you have to like go back and be like look up the rules again and check through if you know eventually you would get it down but we're like man are we gonna we were just thinking ahead like we were barely making it through the days without having to like eat food. I mean, maybe we were too early, you know, maybe it's a learning, you know, like a steep learning curve or a steep survival curve. Like sometimes in survival games, like that first couple days is like really hard until you build up like a supply of stuff or whatever, you know, like you build an some kind of engine.
We never got that far, but we were just we were banging our heads against the survival thing. That game does some amazing things, though. I don't want to be all negative about it, but we're we're not going to play it. We stop playing
because we don't really like we don't like the survival mini games. They're not like you have to do a lot of them. It seemed like we're just doing them. That's all we were doing is the survival mini gamess and the fun stuff was like it's over here,
you know. So that's a thing you know it's like um as gaming is evolving as I'll just say you know you go from like you know RPG games and then you know like war games like Warhammer and stuff has like what 100
one one to 300 page rule books and then you know like the old Avalon Hill books. I mean those rule books are still chunky for like even board games.
Yeah. And now we're complaining about eight pages. [ __ ] this.
Yeah.
So, here's the good stuff about that game, which I was like, "Holy [ __ ] this is cool." Like, I was like, "This is the game like I want to play." Um, it has a crafting system, right? And you've got, I guess, you get like a dozen different materials and then you can also refine those materials. So, so you basically it's a cra, you know, craft those things, refine them, and then you mix them together and they have this code system where you like take two pieces and you you line them up each other and it generates a code and then you look up the code in the book to see if you made something, which I'm like, this is amazing. Like, I love that. Like, you kind of have to think of like, okay, well, I want to I want a fishing pole. So, okay, I need to take a stick and a piece of senue or and put it in a in in that orientation. Like you have to like put the stick this way and the senue facing this way and because the stick going this way and the senu's facing this way is a different is a different invention.
Right. So it's got this cool like deep invention thing which was blowing my mind.
It may have a hundred different items. Yeah. It's Minecraft.
It was blowing my mind. I'm like, man, this is awesome. But the base game was just so tedious that we're just like, we're not like we were trying to think of like, should we just cheat and like make stuff like get what we want and like make stuff like that is where we were. And I'm like, yeah, that doesn't seem right to play a game like that cuz what's the point? And then another thing, they have this whole lore system
and it's it's all about like hidden pictures on the cards and pieces and stuff. And if you match the lore with the current day, you unlock a lore, which is like mind-b blown. I'm like, this is cool. It's like an escape room kind of thing. You're like, you're looking for like symbols and matching stuff and like and you're exploring and there's all this mystery locked behind a crafting system, you know, or a resource gathering thing that I just didn't want to play. It's really unfortunate. Like, I would have rather just roll dice to get resources. Like, hey, I'm going to go mining. Okay, roll a dice. See what you get. Hey D, how you doing?
Hope you're feeling well.
Hope you're feeling better.
I am. I'm getting there.
Okay, take care.
47 foot.
Oh, this is Stone Age Saga or sorry, Stone Saga,
the best tower defense game you've ever played. No,
it's it's very very interesting, but the core mechanics I just Anyway, sorry. It's a half glorious and half not glorious and it was so disappointing because I was like when I started seeing the like the what stuff it lies beneath it, I was like excited
and I knew we were going to be off on the wrong foot when I first said, "Hey, uh, you guys want to play a new game?" minute and um I said it's a survival crafting game and Mike immediately goes, "Oh, are you stone age people?" And I'm like, "Yes." And he's like, "Oh, you know, like frowny face." Like he immediately off the bat was like negging on it. Like okay. I guess we're off on the wrong foot to begin with from the get-go. Anyway, it's going to go into the library and people can check it out and see my charact. It has a character creation system. You're basically like you can die and like you lose your character. It's it's got a lot of stuff. It's a 70 page. I mean it's deep. It's a deep game. I feel it's like a 4.5 on the difficulty scale in my opinion. like
do you
on these a lot of these on these huge like we'll just say larger games or I don't want to say mega games because I don't want to compare like Mega or something like that but on these large like campaign Kickstarters that end up going into the into the library how often like do you ever follow tabs just like a stress pass how many times that gets checked out?
No. Yeah, we I do. In fact, like um uh it does get checked out.
It does.
Yeah. Yeah. In fact, I was walking around on the final night of BGcon last year and someone was playing Primal. Like Primal is like giant campaign game. And someone played um someone checked out um um I want to say Dark Covenant, but that's not the name of it. It's um it's the Awakened Realms game that I can't think of the name of. Heather Fields.
No, not Heather Fields. The more newer one. Um, I'll find it. Hold on. Hey, Anthony.
Sounds good.
How's your wife doing?
Hanging in there?
Yeah.
Okay. A lot of stuff going on. I have another person whose wife also went to the hospital this week. Crazy. What?
It's crazy.
Yeah, I know.
So, this there's a question that was on the Discord this week, like a question of the week of like, you know, people like, "Hey, if your house is burning, what team games would you say?" blah blah blah. Which I'm not, you know, whatever.
None of them.
Well,
get out of the house.
Well, so here's the thing. One person said if they lost all their games do lost their
lost they
no no yeah well yeah what would they get back or whatever um and one person said you know I would just not get any and I just you know just call it a day and for the hobby in general. So I've at least had once that I've had to replace all my games from a a thing like that. So if today, granted, I mean, Lance works in the industry, so he's kind of stuck in it. So if you lost as a as a game player slashcolctor or whatever, you lost all your stuff due to a fire or flood or act of god, whatever, would you go back and replace them or would you like would you call it a day? I mean,
I probably
I I'm already um I I actually got in like a kind of an argument with um uh my uh the the the guy who runs the local game store um who has like the uh um uh like he has the nerdy rumage sale or whatever thing. And and so I will again be doing that and I am I am cleaning out my storage locker. I mean like literally I'm going to be selling my stuff like I and it's going to be gone and I'm looking forward to it. I I can't wait. I can't wait till it's just all gone. And and he was like, "Yeah, we're going to like you people are going to know to show up for your stuff, so we're just going to kind of put you in a corner somewhere." And I was just like, "Rich, what are you talking about?" I was like, "So, you're telling me you're going to [ __ ] me on a spot for like on the thing, but so I'm I'm not going to is my is my $100 you're expecting me to pay you for the table? Like, is it less than everybody else's?" I said, "Yeah, I mean, and he was like, "No, no, that's not what I'm saying." And I was like, "You're an idiot. You shouldn't have said that out loud because now if you put me in a place that's crummy, I'm going to be pissed." And he's like, "Oh, no, no, no, no. That's not what I'm saying. We weren't going to do that."
out of me. I was like,
"Holy cow."
Yeah. I was just going to like I was like, "Why would you say that out loud, dude?" I was just that that pissed me off to no end. Anyway,
but yeah, that I I thought about that and I was like, I don't know.
Oh, wait a minute. Who moved the rock?
I don't know if I would uh I don't know if I would restock all them, you know, just what would I call it a day? I don't know. I would I would get my favorites like maybe my top 10 or top 20 favorites.
That's just it. I mean, and the game the only like the games that I'm going to keep are going to be the ones that have some sort of like either I know I'll want to play them at some point and I'll be sad when I when I can't
or like something that has a uh some sort of a attachment for whatever reason, you know, it is. But anyway,
Anthony, what would you do? Would you would you would if you lost the
No, no, no. We're burying the lead. Sorry.
We're burying it.
Forest, right?
So, you're alive.
What's up,
welcome back.
Wow, look at that hoodie. Yeah,
I knew you were alive because I saw you made a video after all of the uh the I I saw you you capitalized on the uh the drama of the uh recent uh the kurfuffle or whatever. And that's the kuruffle.
You mean I covered the news?
What's the kurfuffle?
The the stuff with certain YouTube channel maybe charging people blah blah blah blah. So, I knew you were alive and I and you had wished me a happy new year. So, I mean, that was, you know, almost like that was a couple months ago. So, I mean,
I was uh I was big in that thing that I couldn't talk about and I just I didn't want to talk about it and I still can't talk about it and it's uh then my kids got sick. Like, there was like three straight weeks where everyone in my house took turns getting sick and so my wife was just like, "I don't want you to do the podcast because you got to get up super like this, that, the other things." and just
Yeah, I'm doing good though.
So, is this this a room in your new mansion?
What?
It's the green room.
Is this the green room in your new man?
This is the same This is the same chair I always sit in.
No, no, but but the chair moved into your like new studio in your your mansion because you hit it big.
What are you talking about?
You heard me. like, you know, big changes
if if I got the thing that I was going for. Yeah. But I didn't, like I just said,
but it's it's it's a holding pattern. It's just I need to be in roughly the same position next year at this time and I will be 80% of the way to where I want to be and hopefully I can get the other 20. It's this. As long as I don't like get arrested or screw something up, I'm in line where I am. And I don't want to talk about it anymore, though. Is that
Oh, that's fine. That's fine. I just
I have I have one question though.
What's up?
About that. Are we referring to you as Forest or Tony?
Oh. Oh, yeah. Uh either one. I go by either. But yeah, I chose I changed it to Tony more for my grandma, but honestly, I don't I don't really I'm having second thoughts. I don't give a [ __ ] enough to really keep up with it. Like I don't want to I I don't know. I just don't want to be one of those people who like says, "Yeah, I changed my name." But it's like I don't know.
Just do both and just go by phony.
Yeah, I that some people call me phony obviously. I I don't care. But uh yeah, I go by Tony now, but I I also go by Forest, but I'm trying to say
what's your given name?
It's Forest, but that's also my dad and my grandpa's and my great-grandpa's name. So, we always just went by our middle name, which is why everybody just called me Tony.
But my dad's also like a massive, you know, terrible, terrible, terrible human being. So, it's just I thought about my grandmother a little bit just saying that name over and over and over again since she's like 96. And I was just like, I'll go by Tony for a while. And
so, two things, two things. Two things. One's for Forest or Tony or whatever. Mr. Bower
either way. Bower.
Yeah.
Phony.
Phony. It's for phony. I like I like pony.
Uh well actually three things. One
no four maximum four.
YEAH, FOUR MAXIMUM.
27 THINGS.
Um so we're going to have to wait a year before we know anything about what's going on. Is that what you're
right now? There's literally nothing going on. It's
He's saying it start again next year and he's going to be threequarters of the way there already.
They Yeah. They're like, "We don't need you this year, but next year around this time period, we are going to reach out of you." And all the steps that you have already taken to get to where you hope to be that many many other people don't even get to take these steps. Like they just they don't reach back out to you. They don't call you. Like they don't have you talk to people. Uh I've already I don't have to go through again.
So
So is it my understanding that we'll never know the bottom of the story is what you're trying to tell us. Uh hopefully not. Hopefully that's not the case. But in theory, yeah, but at the end of the day, my life is drastically better now that I'm on this path because I mean really at the end of the day, it was a gut punch, but I didn't get it. Even though I was like very realistic with myself. I was like, there's like such a small astronomical chance that I'm going to be able to succeed at this. But it was just the fact that I was all I was the fact that I was even [ __ ] in like I was Yeah. The fact that I was
just just drop it. Just drop it because you you're going to start talking and then you're going to say stuff you're going to wish you hadn't said. So just
see that's why I didn't want to say that's why like
Yeah. So we're just going to drop it. We're just going to drop it.
Either way. No. No. The good thing is I've now I have a to-do list that I do every day and it's incrementally inching forward every single aspect of my life and I've been doing it for like the last month and a half and it's amazing. I love it.
Okay. Item number two. Uh, are you are you going to Jen Con this year?
Yes.
Okay. Do you do you and your crew I mean I have an extra room if you and your crew
Holy [ __ ] Yeah. Yeah. Give me the the price.
Well, I mean it isn't free. It isn't
I know. That's why I said the price obviously the price.
Is it connected to the skywalk?
It is not connected to the skywalk but it is close. It is right next to it. Matthew, I mean if you do you need rooms.
Is it Omni? Is it at the Omni?
Uh Sever.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Whoa. Whoa. I I I'll take it. I'll take it right now. I'll take it right now. You asked me first. Omni is my jab. Like, yeah.
I think No. No. I think I I I if if both of you if both of you wanted one, I probably will have extras.
Holy shikes. Boy,
cuz I wasn't going to go to Junk Con cuz I didn't want
I might need some too, Lance.
I know. And I I tried.
We're in the pool here.
Is that the train hotel? Is that the one with the train in it?
We thought we were going to have to give a bunch of the rooms that we got to Larion, but they they all of a sudden said they didn't need them. So,
that's the one that used to be right across from the uh the food and then they they did all the construction, but you used to be able to get out of your hotel room, walk through the food, like the food del to the exhibit hall.
Yep. That one.
Boris, do you want to share a room? Maybe.
I I I currently have my buddy Adam who shoots with me and then this other dude. So, there's three, but if you don't mind being a fourth Yeah,
I'm not sharing a bed with anybody. You wouldn't have to at this point because the one dude's gonna have an air mattress than Yeah. I don't know.
No, I want two. No, no, no. I' I'd rather have two people to a room.
Yeah.
But is that the one that has the train things at the bottom of it where you
That's the That's not the That's not that.
We I stay there once.
That's the Crown Plaza.
Myers is a pretty sweet place to stay because they because you don't even have to walk outside.
Myers is staying on our floor on Wednesday night. So he owes us one.
Oh, really?
All right.
Evan's like, "Can Shane sleep on the floor on Wednesday?"
So So item number three, Matthew, I dig the beard. Let it grow.
Oh, thanks. I don't want to let it grow too long, but So I'm going So here's here's the
razor away. Throw your razor away and never shave again.
Here's the eventual look. I want to do the what they call I hate the word but what they call a quiff hairdo. It's like Captain Pike kind of hair like Anson mount Captain Pike hairdo.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
And then um
I can see that. I can see
from Star Trek. You're going to walk around like
Yeah. Life of Futurama when he says uh did you fry? Did you did you commit treason? Say say one one beep for yes, two for no. Boop boop. Double yes. GUILTY.
Just so good.
Are you going to Junk Con Aldi?
No. Sorry.
Last year was my one one once a year. Once a
We'll get him. We'll We'll get him. We We'll try to change his mind.
Once in a blue moon.
Once in a blue moon. Let's call it that. I got co again right now.
No, at Gen Con you guys forget all this stuff. Like
I remember I was cracking I was cracking.
Also my day going home was miserable. I didn't get home till 5:00 a.m.
Oh, that's right.
I should have left at I was sitting there with Anthony for like several hours. Like me and Anthony, we had the best seats, too, right? Remember that? That was We were like those guys um who who
Marty and Tony
Marty and Tony left their seats.
They got up. They're like, "Oh, our flight's leaving."
And they're like super comfy. like they were cush and they had power chargers and stuff and me and me and Anthony sat there and like they came back too and we're like good to see you guys give them our seats back.
Tony offered offered to so you need to be bumped.
Yeah, he took the bump anyway. So I uh I didn't get home till 5:00 a.m. I didn't take off till like 1 or two. It was like a 10-hour layover. Sucked ass. So, I don't think I'm going to go this year.
I don't think it was worth it for me to go.
I had decided not to go because it's not a great show for me either.
I had a great time.
I don't I I have an amazing time every year, but for the expenditure,
Yeah.
It's just
And it's Yeah,
it's business value for buck for me is not a great show. But you all should go because I like to see my friends there and it cheers me up and I
for like the one game we played in the hot games room.
Can you not just write all that off? Uh Matt,
you still got to spend the money.
Yeah, but you're losing the money. I mean, you're you know, it's not
you're spending it either way, but
I mean, you're spending money back.
You can get some of it.
You got to spend money to make money.
Chad subscribes to the uh the um
George Castanza school of writeoffs.
That's right. this lamp right off.
Yeah.
Uh well, we got we got a we got a crew. So, why don't why don't we uh why don't we just do an initials and then we can
I got another game to talk about, by the way, after the
Well, and I also have I have I have I have one minor uh one minor uh grievance and then I have
Give me your grievance first because I gota get a good print and I'll get be back in like
Well, you don't want to hear my grievance? Thanks a lot, buddy.
Well, it's is it a is it involve food?
Is it fast food? Well, one of them involves food. Is it
Okay, then I'll be back for the one that is not the food.
Well, I'm going to do the one that isn't the food first. So, there as soon as you leave.
Oh my god.
No, I I for my physical therapy today, uh they um Well, now I won't do that one. No, today I um we got I I was sitting there and like I tried to cook, but I was just I I today was kind of a really really busy day and I had a bunch of crap going on and my brain was so I didn't cook. And so my wife said, "Oh, well, you know, there's the Dairy Queen right nearby. Why don't you just order it?" And I was like, "Oh, okay." So I pulled up their app and, you know, order the food. And it said, "It'll be ready in 10 minutes." And it's like a 3minut drive over. So I just drove over and got in the drive-thru. And and then they uh they I get there and they're like, "Yeah, I got, you know, app order or whatever." And they're like, "What's the name?" Okay, thanks. And I get up there and I pull up to the window and and the guy handed me my drink and my son's blizzard and my wife's ice cream cone and I said I I said I those aren't for me so can you put them in covers and can I get a drink tray? Oh yeah, yeah, no problem. So he diss the whole thing, puts it all on the drink tray, and I sit it down, and then, mind you, there's cars backed up a country mile behind me, and I and I park, and I and I then pro proceed to wait 25 minutes by the window. They don't ask me to pull forward, park somewhere else, or anything like that. They just have me sit there and wait for my food.
to the point that my the ice cream had melted. And I said, "That's great." Is they hand me a food. You're going to need to remake these now. And they kind of the guy just looked at me with this dull like I just woke up look. And he and he said and he was like and he kind of looked at me and he looked at him and I said, "I've been waiting here over 20 minutes. These are melted now. They aren't for me. I wasn't going to eat a butterfinger blizzard and an ice cream cone while I waited for my food. Oh, okay. Just a second. And then he went and remade it. Just I I can't even imagine the people behind me had to be I mean just been lose. If I was behind me, I would have been losing my mind. I was like, "What is taking this? What did this guy order?
Did you I ordered like a hamburger and two chicken strip baskets and it took them forever to make it. And I could look in and I could see people that had gone in to get their food and they all had this look on their face.
Who goes to Dairy Queen for actual savory food anyways?
Oh, it's that's a big thing here. It's it's it's uh
I mean, we have it here, too, but
Yeah. I don't know.
It's not great food.
Uh the chicken strip basket's a quality It's a quality basket.
Okay. I've never had it actually, so I should.
Yeah, their chicken fingers their chicken strips are pretty good. And And
they have steak. They have steak fingers, too.
Yeah, they do. And but I don't get those any good.
The chicken finger finger
the chicken figure baskets and also the popcorn shrimp baskets are pretty good.
Um you can you can uh and you if you sub out the the fries aren't great, but if you sub out to their onion rings, they make good onion rings there. So anyway, my other thing was today when I went for my physical therapy for my shoulder, um they were like, "Well, you know, we've been using the uh shockwave gun on your shoulder for a while, but I'm just not getting the results I want. So, I'm going to dry needle today." And which is
a dry needle.
So,
what the hell?
It's It's literally I mean, when I had my problem with my leg, they dry needled my leg, too. And they actually pumped an electric current through it. um when what they do is they basically they take a needle and they they shove it into your skin into the muscle that's having the problems
and and they just they they just basically kind of just start scraping the muscle with the needle till
So you're forcing it to rebuild itself.
Yeah. So and they do it until you basically you're you have an involuntary shock go through your your muscle and it hurts.
I mean it's it No, it's horrible. I mean because it just doesn't feel right. It feels like you're like and then they stop and let the muscle relax and then they do it again. They do it and like they and they do it till they get three reactions out of the muscle just tremoring and like and eventually you don't even feel the pain anymore. You just and they're like, "Oh yeah, I got that muscle going good." And he's like, "This will," he said, "this will really agitate it and it'll convince your body to send the things it needs to send over to the muscle to calm it down and and you know, rebuild it and whatever." So, I don't know. Nice guys. The PT guys are nice.
Yeah. No, I mean I it I can tell it feels it still hurts, but it doesn't hurt nearly as bad. So, I guess that's progress. It's never been range of motion. They're like, "Have you got any range of motion?" I got I was like, "It's never It's never been the range of motion. It's just that it hurts whenever I do anything." So,
the doctor says I told the doctor, "It hurts when I do this."
Don't do that anymore. Where's Chad? I got my
Okay, I guess I could talk about my game since you got to talk.
Go talk about your game then. I guess
I want you I am doubling down as my recommendation for Cozy Stickerville. It is so fun. We finished it this weekend. 10 10 years of it. It was It was fun.
Yeah. But But then what what are you gonna do after you beat it?
Nothing. It's 10 hours of fun. Although it's it's actually not 10 hours. Each each each year is like half an hour to 40 minutes. So it's like six It's like five hours of fun. Five or six hours of fun. And it's it was just great fun all the way through. It was It was really cool. I I'm not happy with our ending, so I'm going to play it again.
No happy ending. and try to avoid the ending we got by making certain decisions along the way.
But the but it's not the ending. It's it's the friends you made along the way.
So, what's the core gameplay loop?
Uh draw a card, do read it, and then uh do an action. It's very simple. It's a very light game. It's a sticker game. You put there's lots of stickering. You're building a city. You're building a town. Um, and you're making decisions of how to like spend your money and spend your resources. So, you're like, "Hey, you could build a library or you could build the bank. Which one do you want to build?" You know, like that kind of stuff. And so, it diverges. It has pads. Like, you either choose one or the other. And it's a lot of forking. And then depending on who visits,
it's a lot of what?
Forking.
You could fork your city all over all over the You could fork all over. So, um, so when you get a card that'll have has visitors, it'll say, "Do you want
these visitors?"
Like the first visitor you get is either Dill or the, um, Brazenos or something. It's not the brand Xenos, but it's like an Italian name, which I can't remember the name, but they're like one farmer, it's farmer Gill or it's like these kind of like uh New York New York looking uh business people like so you're kind of like making a decision and then and then that creates a path and then you have an you know you have like a little story with that with those characters in your town and you can either make them happy or not and like you can like we actually had someone move out of town they like they were so fed up with as they left, which is kind of fun. So, their their house became abandoned, which was kind of fun. I I shouldn't say any spoilers, so I'll stop talking. But that's the basically go
the the turn is basically draw a card, do it says like draw a card, it'll give you like a it'll see like do A, B, or C or it'll give you um it'll give you a card that you put into play that you can investigate
and then that's it. That's the game. And then your action is do one action on the board, either on a card or on the board. That's it. And there's a fishing thing and there's like a food gathering and wood gathering and it's got achievements and fun things like that. And like you get achievements and like it you go down certain story lines and it's fun. It's just fun. It's not much of a game. Like it you you just have to make the decision. The game is what decision are you gonna make?
Is it an activity?
Uh yeah. I guess that's like there's no winning and losing. It's always winning, right? something always happens and you might you might get penalized like our god I I don't want to say any of the things that have happened because I don't want to spoil it but some bad stuff happened because we didn't do a certain thing
that's kind of fun too. It's a good experience and if you got kids that are into that kind of like seeing how it plays out and the stickers are really fun because you can make your city how you want to make it. Like you can put them it's got it's it's on a grid so you do have to follow the grid but like all the other stuff that's not on the grid you can put anywhere like flowers or um other other type of accuchent for your city you can stick them anywhere
aut my family sometime
yeah you should grab it I think it might be already sold out though don't pay any more than 40 for it
I'm in no rush Yeah,

But I want now I want like cozy stickerville space adventure. I want cozy stickerville haunted house or horror. I want sci-fi western. I want all the genre. I want zombie apocalyp, you know. I want all the genres. Make make me all the stick all the sticker bills.

All All I hear from Lance is, "Oh man, I wish you can come on. I wish you can come on. Now that I come on, I get all this."
Don't listen to Lance.
Old white man trying to hold you down is [ __ ]
All right, here we go. My line number one. This is connected to the the big number one. This is connected to the Big Mac.
Hey, Anthony. Go for it. Secret ingredient. [ __ ] you, Anthony.
All right.
What happened to the three clues?
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Everybody else gets a point, but not Anthony on that one because
you're doing the Whose Line is anyway scoring. Everybody gets 14 points. You know, I saw a live showing of that who's line uh with like they they came to town and we had tickets and that was and I realized that they they've done it so many times and they've done it like there's literally and they they can shoehorn any of the things they've done into what they've done and I doubt what they do is new and original by any stretch of the imagination, but it was still really really entertaining and and and pretty damn funny. So
I think whenever Anthony answers correctly from now on, he can answer from the first clue. You just roll a d whatever and then assign that point to whoever gets
I think I love that idea. I love that idea.
I think that idea is dumb.
Too much randomness. I think he should be penalized a point if he gets it incorrect. Oh yeah, but he never guesses unless he's absolutely
No, he never guesses it incorrectly.
No, I do. He's like a savant.
Yeah. Well,
I think we are actually very lucky to be in the presence of
Oh, what a what a kiss ass.
No, no, I didn't say I liked it.
I'll tell you what, Lance. Lance, next next week, we'll do it this way. We'll do me against the room.
Oh yeah, we've done that. Actually, we could do that right now. I have one more. Just just we we
That one was so much fun.
I'm sure you'll win anyway.
Or Anthony could get a half a point answer.
You can put him against the room, but the the point still remains is that it the still the mechanic is who does it first and so Anthony does it first. So it doesn't matter.
That's actually a pretty good idea, too. like like like get a half a point for everyone, you know, like Anthony has to get two, right?
Oh, he's handicapped.
Point. Yeah.
Oh, Anthony against the room is better than
it doesn't work if he starts he starts in a fivepoint hole and has to dig out, you know? I mean,
that's a lot.
Well, you just scored eight points. I mean, you're you're going to complain. I mean, that's that's
there's only so many things that start with SI. Yeah, it was it it was too uh it was too vague of a or too uh select of a thing.
And you know how I ended up getting Skull Island? I'm drinking that another one of those Gorilla Mind things.
I looked down. I was like, "Oh [ __ ]
what is that?"
It's a new energy drink company. It's called Gorilla Mind. And uh yesterday I had the or Monday I had the black cherry vanilla which is so freaking good. It's dangerous.
Yeah.
Now I'm drinking the blackberry lemonade.
Also very good.
Sugar in it.
What does that have sugar in it?
It is 10 calories
per per can.
No sugar or artificial colors. How much gorilla is in every can?
How much what
gorilla is in every can?
I don't know. But there's a lot of stuff here.
Powdered gorilla peanuts in every can. Got a,00
sign me up.
200 milligrams of caffeine.
I can't do the artificial sweeteners. It doesn't have any aftertaste though.
No, I just the the it [ __ ] me up.
I don't like anything that doesn't have artificial colors in it. somehow.
Somebody I saw a re a video recently about the Fanta uh in the US compared to the UK.
How much different how much more orange it is.
Well, the Fanta in the UK looks like orange juice. Like a pale orange juice. And the Fanta in the States is just like day glow.
We like what we like. Damn it. Oh, Jeff, did I already tell you that we're cool with like uh having your stuff uh in our booth?
Okay,
very much. But you you said you were gonna send me an email and you didn't.
Of course I did, but I'm wrong. Uh and I forgot to and I apologize. But yes, we just need to figure out how we're going to get into the booth at Gen Con and blah blah blah blah blah. So,
just email Lance at lancegragames.com because he's not gonna email you.
I will email Jeff. I just um you like I told he's like Shaden's remember Shaden. So wait a minute wait we don't have to we don't have to show the games off. No we don't have to like do anything. No we just get money for selling them. Yes.
Well I I love that he's just classic Shane.
Yeah that's a good deal.
He um
I got a question for you. was at work yesterday and my office mate comes in around 11, rolls in around 11 and he has a mask on
and I'm like, "Oh, are you sick?" He said, "Yeah,
no, I'm a pirate."
Okay. So,
so then I he goes into his office and I'm in my office when we we share a wall and I hear I just hear him hacking up a storm like like hugely and I'm like I got I'm going away this weekend and I don't want to get sick. So I kind of say to him like hey I don't want to be a jackass or anything but do you should you really be here right now? Like I was sick last week. I stayed home.
I don't know.
Yeah.
Was I be like
Well, I mean he had a mask. If he secluded himself maybe. I mean
um I mean so I think I told you guys this story before, but when I went to Japan, I like you saw people with masks all the time. And that was like you when how many years ago? Like
11 years ago or whatever. Because the idea was it was like no you still need to work unless you unless you're in the hospital you need to work. I mean that was the mentality there. So but they were just expected to like you know sanitize and you know don't let any don't don't uh you know breathe on anybody you know and and you know so I mean I don't know. I mean, was he was he like coming out and offering to, you know, put sticking his hands in the uh the the company grl or anything?
I don't know. I was just going to be loaded.
I mean, I don't think you were being a jerk. You mean you're just looking out for yourself? I mean, could could they have worked remote whatever they were trying to get done?
Mhm.
Well, then yeah, stay home.
Yeah. And if if you had to come in because that's the only place I can get this stuff done and I have deadlines then but if like you could just do the exact same thing but do it from your house.
He said he wasn't very productive at home.
Did he actually have co
No.
Did he have a might have? I don't think so.
Just sick.
I would have said well I'm sick of your goddamn excuses. So, or something. I don't know. No, I mean, yeah. Work from home. Suck it up. Suck it up, buttercup. Go home. I'm not productive at home. We'll figure out a way.
Suck it up and go home and work.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Figure out a way to be productive at home then, you know? I mean, that's that would be my attitude. I mean, it's just like,
you know, don't don't come here and breathe on me, you know? Just, you know, because who knows? I mean, how much of that, you know, if they're Yeah. No. I mean, this sounds like one of those am I the [ __ ] arguments or or questions, but I I don't think so.
Not in that specific way. Anyways, I'm asking
No, no. I mean, not not in that way. I mean, and you're a pretty you're a frail Canadian. I mean, it's like, you know, I mean, who knows what could have happened to you, you know? I mean,
today I was watching I happened to come across a reel of a of a girl an American that came to Toronto for the marathon and ended up breaking her femur and she recounted the and she didn't have insurance like like travel insurance. So, she ended up recounting the cost the ended up what the cost was in the end and I think it was something like it was $24,000 uh Canadian in the end. So like seven bucks
for like to like fix her thing and fix her femur and stuff like that. And um
well that sounds horrible.
I'm watching this I'm like and then I as I'm watching this I'm going to the CIA website to buy travel insurance for this week.
So I have a story about travel insurance.
Yeah.
I have a friend who you know she she helps out with BGcon every year. She's like basically librarian and she's like a geek library person. Her and her husband were traveling in Amsterdam one year and she got hit by the tram, the Amsterdam tram
on when she was on a bike.
How do you get hit by a tram?
Painfully.
Not sure.
Not right.
Yeah, she I don't know. I guess she didn't see it coming and it was hit came from behind and it rammed the bike into a spot it bike should not be.
Oh wow.
Think about that. Very serious.
Yeah. She had to be airlifted. Not air, but basically a private plane flown back to the States.
That's pretty expensive, right?
Holy.
All of it. She was in the hospital for almost a year.
Like that's probably like $60,000 for the plane alone.
Yeah. Travel insurance covered everything.
Wow.
Hospital stay for like almost a year.
Like it was it was massive. Yeah. It was like a huge big
lifealtering uh accident. So, get your travel insurance.
I I did.
Yeah. I'm
You did it again.
I forgot to get it when I went to BGCON last year.
Well, with the crooks that run that place, you don't you don't get insurance.
Stop.
Hey, Scott.
Hey, guys.
Scott, everybody.
Hey, Scott.
Hey. You missed the initials, but Lance has another one.
I got another one. And we got a new Anthony.
I feel like we're struggling for content tonight, so maybe we should do it.
Well, I mean, you got a you got a grievance there, Scott Demerse.
Do I have a grievance? No. I've had a rough week with so I'm gonna I'm gonna just not jump into negativity. But um I will be in Budapest, Hungary next all of next week for work. So
what do you do for work, Scott?
Get your travel insurance.
I know, right?
International man of mystery.
Then I come home for two weeks and then I'll be in Lisbon, Portugal for a week.
Go work again.
Yeah. So I run a global solution consulting team for a for an an enterprise software company. So what that means those are the technical folks who sell the software alongside the sales reps. So when the sales reps are working on relationships and the commercial terms and all that stuff kind of shephering the deals and managing the deals. The solution consultants are half sales half technical. Their job is to understand what the customer's problems are and then uh make sure that the customer understands how our software helps them solve those problems.
Is this ERP stuff?
Uh no, not what we do. Ours is um is analytics and business intelligence um on time series data in industrial applications which I've never been in the industrial space before but it's you know um so the short we help companies uncover lost industrial profits so we work pretty big in like oil and gas and utilities pharmaceuticals chemicals etc.
Wow. It's it's it's actually really interesting. I've probably never enjoyed a job more than this one. And I made a two-year commitment and so I'm one year in and in a year we'll probably re-retire.
Are you um are you going to are either of these places you're going to places you've never been before?
I have never been to Budapest or to Lisbon.
There you go.
Will you be able to enjoy much of it or you gonna be too busy? So I think as you guys know my my mom who has dementia is living with me now and so my ability to to leave for significant periods of time is a little bit strained but I have family that's helping out. So I will be um in this particular case I will be taking an extra day in Budapest. I'll be flying home on I fly there on Saturday, arrive on Sunday. Am basically busy Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and I'll take Friday, Saturday, Sunday to kind of
Oh, good for you.
Bum around.
My um my dad has dementia, so I can relate.
Yeah. Yeah.
I was actually there today and War Games was on television and he had it on and with Matthew Brderick.
Yep.
And he loves this movie. like he he always loved this movie, but throughout the whole thing he's like, "Why is he upset,
right? What
you know what what is he trying to do?" And all this stuff. And I'm like just trying to explain it. Oh, because he, you know, the the computers the computer's trying to blow up the world, Dad, and all this.
Yep.
Yeah. There's um my mom has largely lost the ability to read. Um and and she can't she can't heat up a bowl of soup in the microwave. So every meal is something I make for her.
Yeah.
Um and so I when she was moving in, I thought I was providing, you know, a shelter, little bit of companionship, you know, that kind of thing. I didn't know it was going to be full-time caretaking.
It's a lot.
Yeah. I'm like, so I I'm I'm not going to share the details publicly, but let's just say there was a body function accident that happened. And so that was my Saturday was cleaning floors and clothes and stuff like that. And
so I'm like, h so like I said, there's a um and so like even today, like this weekend was spent over at her place. So, so she I had bought her a house 17 years ago. So, I've been going over there every weekend and just hauling stuff out and she was a packrat and there was just so much stuff. So, but I am proud to report the reason I'm late joining this call is because my brother and I went over there and we have completed the move out of all of her stuff. The cleaning crew goes in while I'm gone and in mid-Marchch we'll have replace on the market with a goal to sell it which will then reimburse me for the cost of completely remodeling my basement so that she could live with me. So yeah,
you're a good son.
Yeah,
I don't know about that. But I I gotta tell you, I'm the least patient I'm the least patient person in the history of the earth.
But like I'll give an example. Like I bought a mini fridge and we have it stocked with like Lunchables and some some things that you can just eat, you know, bananas and all that.
And so I was leaving the house to go I I threw my back out two days ago, like almost moving and stuff. So So
So I could not get up from my I sat down to work on Monday morning and I'm working and like an hour in I went to get up and I could not get out of my chair. So I'm like like you know and it's still really tender and I got to move all the stuff out of my place and final stuff. So my brother went over there and he ended up hauling most of the heavy stuff. But I was laughing because so I'm I'm just all So I go to get a massage. I'm going to an Asian place where they dig into your back with their elbows. I go it's going to hurt like hell but it will hasten the recovery. So, I'm walking out of the house and as I'm walking out about to walk out, my my office is right next to my mom's room. She says she says, "Hey, I'm kind of hungry." And I'm like, "Well, I I got to go, Mom. Um, why don't you look in your fridge in your room and and just, you know, grab something out of there because there's some there's some really good food in there." And she goes, "I don't have a I don't have a fridge in my room." Meanwhile, she's every it's like right there. I go I said, "Hey, mom, just turn around a little bit in your room. Just turn around." She's like 2 feet away from her fridge at that particular moment. And so she turns around and at no point, it's a mini fridge, of course. At no point does she ever lower her eyes above this plane.
She goes, "Nope, I I don't see any fridge anywhere."
Yeah.
And I'm like,
I know like depth like her depth above and below just don't exist.
Well, it's like Yeah. She goes and I said, "Well, mom, look look down." She looks down. She goes, "Oh, you mean this white thing?" I go, "Yeah, that white thing. It's it's a mini fridge." And she goes, "Oh, I was looking for a full-size fridge." "Mom, if there was a full-size fridge in your room, you would have you would know, right?"
So fine. So she pulls out a Lunchable. She goes, "Oh, these are really good." I said, "Great. So you're good. I'm going to leave. I'll be back in about an hour and 15 minutes." I walk out the door. My phone rings. Hey, where are you? And I'm like, "Mom, I'm I'm going to a massage." Blah, blah. Okay, fine. I go to the massage. I get out of the massage an hour later and I look and there's a phone call from mom a half hour into the massage. So a half hour after the first call. So I call her back as I'm driving home and I said uh I said um hey mom what's up. You called me about a half hour ago. She I was just calling to see if you'd answer and then I was and then that's I just said mom don't do that. I said call me if you've fallen down and can't get up but sometimes I just need a break from you. So, don't call me like that, please. Right.
And she's like, "Oh, I understand. I understand." I said, "I'm on the way home. I'll see you in about 15 minutes." And but, you know, it's just kind of relentless, right? It's like,
you're a good son.
We'll see.
Yeah. I was I I talked to my mom today and uh dad was
What's that?
Nothing. Sorry. Go ahead.
I was just like
Yeah. Go ahead. Sorry. Uh, mom's just about blind and dad needed a new shaver because his shaver the battery in his his shaver is like a sealed unit and the battery died. I found a YouTube video on how to change it. But
Adam's bag.
Good. Gracious.
So, mom can't they got the new shaver today. Mom can't for life. They shipped it like as they as they do all electronics now. They ship it without the little charging block, just the cord to USB.
And mom doesn't understand. And she was like, "Where's the USB on my computer?" And she has like an all-in-one. And mom, it's in the back. And she can't see. So, and she she says, "Yeah, I can't find it." And I kind of chuckled a little bit.
And mom on mom on the phone, she's like, "It's not funny." And then she started to her voice started to break.
Yeah. Oh my god. I'm like, "Mom, I'll be right there.
I'm 10 minutes away from my office. I'll be right there."
Yeah.
Anyways, hey, how's it going?
I have a grievance.
Oh, good.
Good.
Actually, I have two grievances. I have two grievances cuz Scott Deir is here.
Is it Is the first one with your barber?
Sorry.
How dare you? I look good. I came on and said how good you looked and you treat me like you're an American. How dare you?
That's funny.
First Scott, you did not let me know when your teaching session was happening. How dare you?
Anything.
He owes me everything. Lance, you look great, too.
What was my teaching session again? Remind me.
Uh, you were doing a a spring and autumn.
I have I haven't I haven't done it yet, so that's why it's live. If you had been here,
don't you feel bad now, William?
No, I don't. But grievance retracted. Grievance retracted.
Okay.
So, here if you had been here when I was just talking, by the way, you would understand and you would not have aired your grievance, but go on.
Oh, I aired it, baby. But I retracted it, so we're good. Um, so here's my grievance. So, I applied for a press pass to Gen Con, you know, like you do, and I've always gotten them in the past. And I'm gonna preface this by saying in no world do I feel like I am owed a press pass to anything.
I don't I'm not that big a deal, but I've always gotten them in the past. And so
hey, but you're correct. So I was visiting my parents and I landed at about 10 p.m. and somebody else that I know that has a far smaller reach than me sent me a message like, "Oh my god, I got a press pass for the first time." I was like, "Oh, cool. I'm going to go look weight listed. And I was like, okay. And it said, here is an email if you have questions. Like, well, I got questions. My first one is, what's the timeline here? Cuz like, what the crap am I supposed to do with weight listed? Like, what do I do with that? And second, I was like, what? Um, and I said this very politely, but I'm not going to be as polite here. I was like, what metrics did I miss this year? Like, what did I miss that I was Great question. You know,
like uh cuz hey, if you change your metrics that fair enough, but like you know what happened? And it was like 11 p.m. cuz I was landing in the airport and I was like waiting for my luggage sending this thing and then the next morning so under 12 hours later I get an email denied.
What the [ __ ]
Who is this? Why would you be denied?
That's you.
I don't know. Gen Con and it said because we have it said and then it's like we have deter we can refuse anybody we want. Fair enough. But we've determined that you only want to come for personal reasons.
What?
How do they determine that?
I don't know.
I mean, have you done Gen Con previews before in coverage?
Yeah, twice.
Like how many videos? Like
do you do a Do you send them that information
specific?
Yeah, absolutely. So, the the I do a a recap video and then last time I'd never done this before. I did um uh daily videos that got thousands of views. I just posted them on like the BGG Facebook group, you know, it got I went back and looked like three 4,000 views on these things
and you know, I was like and so I don't know how to read that as anything but punitive because I dared to ask the questions.
Yeah. Yeah. You want you want a little extra you want you want a little extra fire some flame for your fire. I applied and got mine and then my buddy who just put that he was with me like applied for one and got one too even though he's like
Yeah. So that's really [ __ ] weird that they would even like the fact they weightlisted you is wild too.
Like I didn't know that was a thing.
Yeah. I didn't either until then I sent another email uh and I was like to the same person like I'm sorry I'm emailing you but you had a chance to reply to the first one but like what does that even mean? Like I know what it means. It's like those Instagram people, oh I I do reviews, give me free games. Like we all know those people that go around and just get free games. I'm sure Lance really knows those people that just like give me free games. But like my last Gen Con picture was three games, one of which I bought. Like it's not even what what I'm all about. But so I said I was like, "Okay, could you let me know what I need to do to prove that it's not just personal?" Like that'd be cool. So anyhow, that's my grievance. I I got multiple people that I talked to like, "Oh, we'll give you an exhibitor badge. It's fine." But that, you know, which So I will still be there. I'm still going to go, so I'm sure they don't care.
I mean, like I said, exhibitor badges are where it's at anyway. So if you need a badge,
funny.
I um the the first year I went
Thank you, Lance.
To you. I mean, and honestly, I mean, you you've you've always I mean, if I told if I told Shane that, he would say, "Yeah, just buy him one." Because you've always done a video for our stuff, so just let us take care of it. And then
I wouldn't buy him one because he hasn't done a video for my game.
He's probably the video.
I know. And then Yeah, except for the fact that you hated the game.
Just kidding.
That's true. That's true.
According to this one guy,
he's just going for personal reasons, Lance. He probably doesn't even really need one. Just make sure he gets the name right.
Right. Dragons. Dawn. No.
Dawn of dragons.
Don.
Oh, Dawn of the Draons.
No. So, the first time I the first year I went to Gen Con, I I applied to go to the trade day thing and you had to be like an educator or uh or whatever. And I was working at a museum. And the hoops I had to jump through to prove that I was working in the museum sector to be able to go to this thing was ridiculous. And then last year I wanted to go to trade day as well. So I sent an email. I'm like I'm like, "Hey, I want to go to trade day." They're like, "Okay, great. Come on over. You're you're good to go." Like where's the proof? Where's like where's the consistency here? Well, when when did you apply the first time for trade day?
It was in 2017.
Okay. So, in 2017, trade day was not as much as it is now,
right? So, there should be more scrutinous now.
Well, no, you have to pay more now to go to jail.
Oh, as much money as was
Oh, I see.
Oh, I see. It was It was cheaper. So they're like, "We got to make we can't let the riff raff in."
I I don't think they actually charged for trade day back then.
Yeah, they just didn't they just didn't want any Canadians in there.
Oh, they did. Okay. But it was minimal compared to now. Your hair looks nice. Well,
thank you.
You better bring me a new coin at Gen Con because I'm still going to be there.
I don't I you know, I was just thinking about that tonight at D and D. I'm like, I should have ordered some new copper coins, but I I didn't order any. I don't have any.
Just Just bring everybody tunies.
Yeah. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Bring me a tuni that you've signed.
Want a tuni? I'll bring you a tuni.
But you have to sign it.
How do you sign it? Tony.
So my mom
with your mom used to work at the mint.
Well, I hope she's got some stuff.
Hey.
Um she was a legal secretary. But it's funny cuz there were some people that were fired because they um they were smuggling shavings out of the of the mid floor.
Of course they were.
I don't even know what that means.
Metal shavings of silver and stuff.
Precious metal shavings.
Yep.
That's why
Ontario.
Yeah.
Okay.
Uh
I'm in Ottawa. You go you go back you go back to the like you go back to like ancient not ancient times if you go back long enough
the counterfeiting counterfeiting and and uh shaving was a crime punishable by death
because people would um they would shave a little bit of the king's pennies because they were all made out of you know like precious metal and then if you shaved enough off of like enough coins you were able to make your own coins. Well, that's the reason why they put ribs around the coins now.
Yeah.
I used to work in a money museum. I got all that [ __ ]
dude. You've worked [ __ ] everywhere.
It's the all against the all against Anthony.
Okay, let me go pee first. Hold on.
Initials.
Eight against one. Seven against one.
Oh, [ __ ] initials. God damn it.
Seven v one. I'm still hurt from last time when I actually I made a an inspired comeback and still lost. That that just hurt.
About what you personally want to do.
What was that? I missed it.
I don't know.
I don't know. He's got that microphone on. It makes him sound like he's reporting from the Titanic.
Yeah. And he's like just looking at the roof like are you just like naked and whacking it? Like what's happening there, Bower?
All right. Did I ever show you guys? Did I show you guys this thing I got for Christmas? It's like one of the best Christmas gifts I ever got.
What is that?
What? A koozie?
No, it is not. My wife got me this because it is a flashlight.
Your wife got you a flashlight. Oh my god.
Now you get your minds out of the goddamn gutters. So it's tough to see, but you can see there's sunflower seeds in there.
Yeah. So the bottom part
the bottom part is the is for the where you keep the sunflower seeds and then the top part is so you can eat sunflower seeds and you have some place to spit them the entire time.
How do you how do they come out?
You just dump it as you
Yeah. You got to throw them in the top
that way like you don't have to have a and you don't have to be like you know and it's just Yeah. I mean it was it's like super sweet. Then she got me all these like the the snacking brand uh you know like these are really good. The garlic parmesan like
they were just go these are smacking.
These are smacking. So yeah, one of the best gifts I ever got.
Yeah. De brought me this the other day. She she had printed it and painted it for me. Put it
away. She painted that.
That's pretty nice. That's pretty nice.
Wow. Look at that eye.
Yeah.
Oh, turn around. Let me see the other eye.
Oh, look. They both look good.
That reminds me.
Hello. Hello. Hello.
You look Chad. She's a She's a keeper.
Yeah.
This book This book is fantastic. This is like um it's like 900 pages, but it it reads and it it is it is a quick read. It is it it it grabs you and it makes you want to just keep keep reading. I had to like I stayed up way too late reading this book. Joe Hill is the pseudonym of Owen King, Stephen King's son. He's been writing his own stuff for years now. Um the premise of this is there's this group of kids that are like going to college, this like kind of small liberal arts college, and they all have their foibless or whatever.
and one of them works in the library and he's able to get into the restricted book section, the books that are worth a lot of money.
Mhm.
And he finds a book that without giving away too much of the they have a reason to try to cast one of the spells that will summon King Sorrow because they have a major problem that needs to be dealt with. And King Sorrow says, "I can basically give you like whatever you wish for. He can give it to you, but you have to pick somebody every single year to die."
For how long?
For as long as you live.
Or if you don't pick somebody to die, then you and your entire family will die. Well, look, man. After the uh Well,
I mean, that's pretty easy, man.
I mean, you know, I feel like look, I'm not I'm not about killing people.
So, but
I don't want to give give things away, but you'd think, oh, it'd be easy to pick somebody that like, you know,
one person a year, right?
Yeah. One person a year. It's set in the 1990s. Um, and
people back then made it harder
and it actually kind of like progresses well as far as like like showing them like in college and then after college and what they're doing with their lives and how they interact with each other and how they grow up as people. Really, really, really good book. And like I said,
do they have to know the person they pick out?
Nope.
Oh,
[ __ ] I would have a lifetime on the way home from IKEA.
I mean,
what are you doing at IKEA so often?
I love IKEA, man.
I
Swedish meatballs and kayaks. I got you.
Now, I don't eat there. I just get like shelves and little knickknacks and stuff like that. So, the problem is it's like, oh, without giving stuff away, but it's like that person that we've read about is a real dirt bag and doesn't deserve to live. Oh, he died while driving his car and it slid into a family of six people and killed them, too.
Okay.
You know, so
so it's like the wish spell of D and D.
It's a good comparison. So he doesn't have to go.
You don't get to comment. You can't just go now. That guy goes now. It's whenever that thing wants it.
Don't use your teeth for that. William.
Anyway,
why are you wearing jeans?
No, I'm wearing sweats.
Oh, okay. There's
Anyway, so yeah,

I would have loved that because when I saw them, they had no hits.

Yeah, we were g we were we weren't we were playing like we were by ourselves where it should have been like
as soon as you have any inkling, it's like throw your vote into there.
Yeah, we should have been doing that nonsense we did at the end where we just called out.
I had no time. Next time. Scott, your inklings are the best.
There was there were a couple times that horribly inappropriate things occurred to me.
Oh, come on. Give us a couple of the inappropriate.
There is 0% chance of me doing any of them.
Well, at least put them in our chat.
We just hit record first.
There is zero chance I will share my inappropriate thoughts with you.
Um,
he saved those for the only fans.
Who knew? Scott was the mature one.
I I remember I remember seeing I forget the artist, but I I remember this artist like who um who uh it was like uh the he did one of those graphs where it's like the things I you know like this is this this is this is this and then like and so it was like um you know this these are the things that I show publicly. These are the thing, you know, the number of things that I will not show unless I am like that I have I have privately been uh requested to to create for them or whatever you know like you know like just you know tasteful nudes I would guess or something along those lines but he doesn't show them publicly. Then he had this like chunk that was down below the stuff I've done for myself that will never see the light of day. I was just like I can respect that.
Anyway, you were saying,
have you guys seen the video? I was I was gonna say, have you guys seen the video of the guy who's um he's talking to the camera. He's going, "My my girlfriend made made, you know, $500 and only from her fans." And then she's going, "Only fans." He goes, "She only has fans. Her fans have donated $500 only her fans." He's like,
"500 bucks, dude. Shame on her." Like,
yeah, whatever. It's like, oh no, Only Fans. And anyway, it's really funny video.
Like Jeff made $500 this alibaboom from his Only Fans. He hasn't even done anything.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, that's

But speaking of your children, at at what point does does does Ross give up the the Gen Con mantle and uh and Caleb take it over?
Well, I I've asked Ross several times whether he's going to Gen Con this year, and like I've gotten undecided several times, but then
got a press pass. recently uh recently he um he expressed more definitive interest in attending. So I think he is gonna go again but I think he might be growing out of it eventually now. I mean
happens
not not that um you know it's just it's one of I think it's because like oh wow I worked a real job and made real money and and instead of like you know
good work from my dad not making anything.
Yeah. Exactly. So, um, hey, technically he works for Shane, you know, and Shane's just a stingy bastard. So,
Lance, I'm I'm going to bring a real good whiskey this year
for us to try.
Well, that's what you keep saying, but you know.
Oh, grand. I always bring Lance. Last time I was at a con with you, you sent one of your lackeyis to find me.
I was having a really bad day. I needed a drink
and and I sent it right over. There was no question asked.
I don't think I'm going to con this year.
I don't think I'm going.
Oh, Scott, don't say that.
No, I don't think I'm going.
Scott, you got to come. You apply for a press pass. You'll get one.
Scott, I thought we get to play a game finally together at Jenn.

Oh, no. No. Okay. Let the rage out. Bearded bearded Canadian. Let it out. No, I
calls made during the game were not objective.
Unless it was an American ref, I can't imagine anybody is throwing it to us.
The gold medal game, the refs tend to eat their whistles. I'll just say that. And that's been the case for ever, you know. So, I mean I mean and and to be fair I mean and if I if I don't want to I don't want this to sound like I'm I'm praising my my you know joke of a goddamn you know crappy human beings that are on the US hockey team. But um I mean come on you guys you had a five on three and you couldn't get a goal. Are you kidding me? You know
come on Canada. I mean,
didn't you invent the game? Come on.
Matt's going to stab me at Jin Con.
I mean, I I mean, I mean, that was I mean, that was one of those like one in a million like I I was like, Canadians get at least get one, if not two, out of this, but they pen penalty killed five on three.
Coconol is an Olympic sport.
And then then everybody lost their mind about, oh, it shouldn't be three on three at the end. And I was like, yeah, well, they don't want the games to take forever. They don't want to have multiple overtimes. So that's why that rule's there obviously.
But what
ob
the when you go
on three overtime rules
three on three overtime rules instead of five on five.
Well, we used to be four on four which was entirely different game than three on three. Yeah,
they should have gone the other direction and gone 10 on 10. That's all I'm saying.
58 and 32.
All right. I Forest, your hair getting long again.
Yeah.
Yeah. You're going back to Fruity uh college student with your little point. Is that It looks like you're looking at an album right now instead of a punch punch sheet. It's like uh you got your headphones on. You're like listening to you're listening to your most recent album of My Morning Jacket.
Ex-girlfriend.
Got this old Rush album. Lock it a lot.
Forest. What are you punching, Forest?
I'm punching the uh Let's see. It's
Ronin's Revenge, Souls of Porro Kai from Dragori Games.
Oh yeah. Yeah. I I I didn't have time to cover that. They asked me about it and I just I just couldn't make it happen.
That's why they they they they emailed Jedcon and said this [ __ ] wouldn't do our thing
probably. You know, I can't help but feel like there's probably I feel like there's somebody on that
if you weren't such a hack. They would they would have given you a
I mean that's I mean there's truth to that.
It's a small team too. So it wouldn't be hard to deduce who it was.
Like, you know, and I wouldn't even be be so upset if I was like, "Oh, we think it's personal." Because I know what that [ __ ] means. That's those [ __ ] that come around like, "I have an Instagram. Give me a free game."
Yeah.
You know, you know what that was? The first person who said it
was like, "My friend doesn't like you.
I don't like you either." You
Dr. Amazon. Yeah. So,
I've got the death I've got the death penalty in seven systems.
Force hair has gone from Will Hunting to Clark.
Oh, yes. That is that is a I got the reference.
How do you like him apples?
Oh, that guy. His name.
All right, I'll be right back, gentlemen.
All right, let's talk about him, everybody. How the [ __ ] am I supposed to pack this thing?
Yeah, [ __ ] it. No. Evan, are you going to Gen Con this year?
Gen Con? No.
Okay. Didn't think so.
Sorry.
I bet he'll get a press pass if he applies.
At the beginning of this call, I wasn't going to go, but I think I might be going now.
Really?
You might be able to meet my wife.
What did they see to convince?
How's she doing?
She's doing all right. I mean, slow. I I mean it she'd be doing much better if she was still in the rehab because I mean not that they were doing a ton of rehab every day but just the fact that she was on
a thing and they were like keeping track of you know her medications and all that other stuff and you know
I'm glad she's she's on the med man.
Yeah. I mean, you know, I mean, yeah, not having to be in the hospital is something to hear about, right?
So, I just had a a good friend of mine have a lung ectomy yesterday.
A lung?
That's that's a removal of a lung.
Oh, wow.
Jesus.
It was news to me.
Wow.
But apparently he's on schedule to get released on Monday. So now he has one one lung he's functioning long.
Yeah.
Yeah. He's a he's a good dude.
Lost some weight.
How much does the lung weigh?
I mean
at least but he's never going to gain it back. Like that's that's a pro. Maybe five pounds. I don't know.
I I I That's one way to look up, I guess. Yeah, sure.
It can't be that much.
Will, are you going to uh Gamma?
No, not Gamma. I'm doing my next con is um
Kuba Con Kubla Con. Yeah.
Have you been to Gamma yet, Will?
No, it I don't know. It's just not really a media person thing. No, you know, it's it's it's starting to be more of an everything business con, which is amazing.
I mean, I might at some point. Like, gamma kind of pisses me off, but also I have to recognize like, yeah, they they pissed me off last time I went to Origins because I was like, you're being [ __ ] stupid. But also, like, you know, I can't hold on to it forever. So if they've stopped being stupid,
I mean, I guess I can hold on to it forever, but you know, if you stop being stupid, like I do want to like reward new good behavior. So maybe at some point, but it's also it's another flight across the country. Like that's
to Kentucky.
So
yeah, and like I don't want to support Kentucky in anything.
Well, next year it's going to be in Maryland. So
I do have family in Maryland. That's a very good point. Like my family does live there. So,
are they near Baltimore?
Uh, they're outside DC, but like Maryland's an itty bitty little state.
Is it,
you know? Yeah, it's 40 minutes.
It's only an 8 hour drive for me, which is like bonus. I can drive it.
So, you can go visit my uh my wife in Calgary. Just pop over there.
She'd love to play a game.
See how far Why did she tell her to go see Gavin?
Gavin who? Brown.
Newsome. Newsome.
Rosdale.
Gavin Brown from Roxley.
Roxley is one of those companies that does not acknowledge my existence.
I would love
I've actually never met anybody from
Do you know who else is in Calgary? Is um George uh George Addis.
Yeah.
Who's that?
Onro video. He makes all the trailers for the for the Kickstarters and stuff.
I just awesome. I just had a meeting with George. I like that guy.
George is amazing.
He popped into my live stream because I did one of his videos and I gave him a I gave him a a good hand job on it. I was just
Yeah. Yeah.
Every He does. Dude, he does [ __ ] amazing videos every goddamn.
Sorry. Say that again, Tony.
Uh I just uh Oh, he popped into my live stream because I did one of
the hand job part.
Yeah. Yeah, that wasn't the phrase I was looking for, but I'm tired.
Look, you keep talking about your hand job.
Reach around. Hey, what's your address? I'm gonna mail you one of my games.
Reiterate. I I uh I popped him.
Is it gonna be Dragons Down, Scott?
You know what I mean?
It's the expansion pants down.
All right, Matt. Answer the the question.
Lance has been gone for 38 seconds.
Both lungs combined weigh about three pounds.
And a half.
Pound and a half. He's never getting back. So, ju well, just to let you know, um, if I were to drive, if I were to leave right now, I could get to Calgary in 35 hours.
Oh,
just still be there. Look, Matt, my wife is really cool, so you should
I have no doubt about that. Do you know I can drive?
Well, you could drive to Calgary quicker than Matt can.
You know what? You know what that is? That's a possibility. Let me check that out. You can you definitely can.
All right.
This is here. Just to let you know, I'm gonna share this.
Wait, is Canada a large country?
This is where I start. And this is Calgary.
Oh, wow.
Yep.
What are you like five hours in Toronto?
Uh, four.
It's a It's 22 hours for me.
Yeah.
I don't know if you guys can see. Yeah. So, why don't you go see your own damn wife?
Cuz I'm going to see her on Friday without driving.
Um, yeah. I can drive for 24 hours and not leave my province.
You don't have to brag about it. Okay. It's not that big a deal.
Oh, his province is a big deal.
I was in um I could drive for for six weeks and not leave my state. No, I mean in a straight line. Damn it.
I know what you meant.
Um, I was in Dominican on vacation one year and uh I was talking with this older fellow from anap. He he was a prof at Annapapolis and he's like, "Oh, you're Canadian." I said, "Yeah, I am." He's like, "That's really great. What providence are you from?"
Yeah. You were like Rhode Island [ __ ]
That one. There you go.
I'm like, you're a learned person.
You don't have to be so judgmental, man. Like, he's trying.
What the [ __ ] is up with this insert?
They will. Whoever designed that was trying. You know,
this [ __ ] makes no goddamn sense.
Like, what? Oh, [ __ ] I got to find a packing guide.
I need a quality game trays insert. Hey.
Uh, all right. Did anybody else play any games that nobody's that nobody else knows about but wants to talk about because they're cool games?
You know what I did? I was on I very rarely play RPGs. But I was on a live stream last night of Mechanical Corners, which is from Fight in a Box Games.
Oh, you played you played Barcade.
No, no, no, I didn't play Barcade. I didn't play Barcane because that's one you you got to walk the dog and uh Beatric
to Yeah. You know, Barcane though to be fair like Lance, you need Barcane. Go back that right now. It you walk your dog and then you do a thing and it's an adventure. Go back. But uh mechanical corners will just give me one. So I don't I I don't know. I mean I'm good friends with the sey.
Yeah.
[ __ ] ses.
Whoa.
I'm kidding. Oh,
I talked to him today. He's amazing.
Whoa. That was a line you don't cross, bearded man.
I thought Seppy worked for you or something.
No.
For me?
No. No.
I'm kidding. I talked to him today. We're good. We're like
I don't think you're good. I need to I'm going to send him this this video.
No, but does doesn't Sebie work for you?
Uh, we we do not He's not an adviser uh on a on on the regular anymore. He does.
He has worked for you.
He has. Yeah.
Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to air your laundry or anything.
No, no, it's fine. It's fine.
The way I per the way I term it is is he and Jeff Tidbull were were um our adviserss and now we've kind of taken the training wheels off a little bit.
So, got it. We consult them less. We still do just less. So anyhow, yeah, everybody should go just throw a dollar at Barcane if nothing else. But no, I played their previous one which is in the world of mechanical corners and I would
Mouse Cheese Cat Cucumber World.
Yep. Which dude that game is fire.
It's
mouse cheese is great.
All right,
but it's great Chad.
It's okay.
It's great, Chad. I can do this all day. I'm like Captain America.
Okay.
Um, but it's a set in the world. So, I was playing a a Chili Pepper and we were doing a heist and it's weird as hell, but damn, it was fun.
If anyone's looking for it, it's mechanical as if it was an Irish name, not mechanical.
As if it were sold at McDonald's.
Mechanical. Thank you, Matthew. That's a good point. It's
mechanical.
Yeah, it's a wacky ass game, but if you're looking for one of those kind of RPGs that's more about the story and less about like tactical anything and like dice rolling.
If you want mouse, cheese, cat, cucumber world,
get like in deep.
The lore of cat, cheese, cucumber.
How dare you put on the name, cat, cucumber. Get them in right.
Have you played it, Anthony? No. Yeah,
it's weird.
But just like every [ __ ] subject, you know what it you're talking about.
Yeah, it's it's super weird, but but it it is it is fun. But that's Seppy, right? Like all all his stuff is weird as hell.
Sephy is So I I was I was chatting with him one day on the on the on a video call and I'm like, "Oh my god, it's freezing in the office. Hold on a sec. I'll be right back." See? I went and I got his his neoprene mat that he sold for the deluxe version of of uh Princess G.
And I came back and I had her wrapped around me. He's like, "You motherfucker."
Matt funny.
To be fair, Matt, that is funny.
I thought it was fire.
I mean, let's let's simmer down, though. It's not that good.
Okay. Hey, congrats on the run today, Will. You know what? Thank you. I was I've been very upset about it all day. I just the the these short runs at the end of this program has me doing. I just keep failing.
You continue to be an inspiration to me. I have not been on my bike in ages. Um I got sick and then I just started this whole and I got busy. Like 2026 has kicked my ass completely. Like I am so behind on everything. I am I feel like I am disappointing clients left, right, and center?
Yeah. So,
you're only gonna disappoint me if you don't bring me a tuni.
Matthew, I I don't I'm not going to I don't I don't regularly I don't kiss people's asses, but I mean, I have never ever heard anybody say anything other than the fact that they thought that your work was exemplary. So, I don't think anybody about that. So, I mean, when Shane says, "I can't wait till we have real money so we can hire we can hire somebody that knows what they're doing like Matt to to do our graphic design, you know? It's just
You guys made good money on the Vampire Game, right?" Well, yeah, but I mean, you know, just I I don't know what it's there's this there's this ethereal figure of money that that Shane feels he has to make before he can
spend real money on something. And and I don't know what it is. And and I don't think he even knows what it is.
We need wingspan money.
Yeah.
And and and I'll be completely honest. I think
have you not been honest until now?
No, I mean it's just I think even if you even if we got this ethereal number which you know who knows what it is but if that ever actually happened I don't think he would ever even like be like okay he would he would still be of the the mindset of like you know I just I don't want to spend the money. He's just like let's just not do it. You know, I mean, he would I I don't think he would ever get to one of these like spare no
expens we made all this money without doing that.
Yeah. Well, we made all this money without without so why would we do it now? You know, I mean, like that would be very much, you know, you know, it's just that's just the way uh he is, you know, which is fine. I I like the fact that like he is
he is very spend a dollar and 25 cents. I mean, he has always said if like his his thing is always like, I'm I I'll happily throw a million dollars if I if I if if it'll make me two million.
You know what I mean? Like that's
who wouldn't do that? But
well, no, but I mean one million. But and so you know I mean you when we go over our you know advertising and and what the returns are like you know I mean he would not spend a dollar to make a buck dollar and a quarter because like because he to him that that doesn't leave him any and I agree with this that doesn't leave any like oh well things went bad you know like the the amount of the amount of like
the amount of headache is not worth the amount of profit.
Yes. Exactly. Um
interesting. So, I mean, that's just, you know, I mean, he's got a
I'm going to mute myself cuz I'm going to curse really loud.
Okay. I mean,
your wife can still hear you, though. Very dramatic or something.
You okay?
Maybe she likes Maybe she likes that.
I just got like the worst Charlie horse. Hey, Tom. It just felt like someone stabbed me in the back of the leg. O,
that's somebody's got a voodoo all of you somewhere. Go ask your wife what she's doing. Um, no, I mean that's just the way it is. I mean, um, so anyway, uh, maybe I mean, nobody else got any board games or nothing, huh? Nobody's got anything about
I may uh back a game here in a week or two. What game is that?
Uh they're they're doing a redo of uh Dine Hard on Hardlock Station for Mothership. They're doing a slipcase edition
and making a whole campaign of it. I'm like something like 18 18 uh Interl Adventures and um yeah, I'm thinking of making because I've got Hardlight Station, the original one from like
who's doing that one? um the dude that made it since it was like it was put out as a zen initially back in 202.
So the guy has spent like since then he spent time cleaning it up, adding more to it and so now it's going to be like a slipcase hard coverver edition.
It's got like how many books here? It's like one, two, like two or three books and like an add-on pack or whatever. And right now it's like he's got a thing. is like if you want to take a look at it, it's got a 48 page like PDF. You can look at it uh with like two free adventures in it.
I I like the mother ship. I mean it's I mean mother ship is it's it's it's just kind of in a way just another um
Cthulhu like horror type thing. But I really really like how I I like and I've seen it in other games too, but I I like this that when you roll doubles and the percentiles, it's either a success or it's either a crit or a fumble depending upon whether it was a success or a fail when you rolled the die.
Mhm.
And I like that, you know. So it's like, oh, I've got to, you know, so it makes it so it's weird. It makes it so people are like, I better have a skill of at least 66, you know. So like 66 is is a is then a a critical success instead of being a fumble, things like that, which is kind of weird and and a little meta. But
I like Mothership. It's like kind of for me it's like balancing Mothership and then Alien by Free League, but Mothership is like more, you know, it's more clean. It's it's lightweight or whatever. Alien is like, yeah, it's got the Alien IP behind it, but the engine's kind of, you know, large and cluji. Cluji.
10 out of 10 word, Chad. Cluji.
Yeah,
I use cluji all the time.
Yeah. I've never even heard that word in my life.
Really?
I use it I use it often in board game design.
I've never heard of it either. Cluji. What does it mean?
A definition. So, so the way the way I use it in board game design and it's because it was used by the designer of Magic Realm, which his definition of cluge was a clue is something that
that sounds filthy.
It's it's a it's it's a a one-off rule you put in place to fix some problem in your game design.
Okay.
But you don't feel good about it because it only exists to fix something that you can't systemically fix. Right.
So, um,
so yeah, there's I have a couple of clues and dragons down that bother the
cluji in the sense that it's just large and awkward and is not very smooth. It's just it's just it exists there, but it's like a, you know, it's like a rock in the highway, right? Just it just it's in the way.
That's right.
To deal with.
Speaking of Kuji, where's Chris Cluey these days?
Right. He's running for office, so he can't be can't be
associated with us.
I mean, he announced it.
I get I get a text message all the time from him asking him to donate money.
So,
yeah.
Oh, I do have
I do have
Yeah. Well, because everything's changed now. Like he's running for like because we changed all the districts. Hey, Lance. Is he a is he a fan of the Minnesota Vikings or does he loathe the Minnesota Vikings?
He's a fan, but I mean, but he's not really a fan of football anymore, I guess, if if that makes sense.
As a bit because of the business side of it.
I mean, he's just he's just like he doesn't really watch it. I mean, he coaches uh well, he did coach a high school team and then the the after he had his after he did all of his um uh hey uh you know,
people should be allowed, you know, you know, human rights are, you know, gay rights are human rights and they should be allowed to get married.
Um you know, the the the school said, "We think it would be best if you no longer worked here." kind of thing.
So, um, yeah. I mean, so, so I think I mean I I don't want to speak for the man, but I mean, but I think I think he he obviously appreciates everything that football did for him and
y
and and and what have you. But, um,
hey, gentlemen, I'm gonna go to bed so that I don't fall while sitting in front of you.
All right. Well, I'm gonna throw this last game that I should have mentioned because I'm related to the designer. Everybody go back Lunar Rush. I'm in. I'm all in. Are you really, Scott?
I'm I'm all in.
Oh, wow.
I told him I didn't want to do a swap of games. I said, "I want you to have my money." So, I went all in.
Oh, well, thank you for that.
So, yeah. Yeah. Uh
I He's my brother, so take it for what you will, but that kind of means I also hate him. Um, you know,
it's a it's a good game. Simultaneous Euro.
It's It says 75 minutes on the box. And I [ __ ] you not, I have played a five play a fiveplayer game on TTS in 75 minutes.
Is it still live or is it ended?
Seven more days. Seven more days.
Buy now.
No, no, you It's the expansion Lunar Rush Innovations. It it makes them it gives you to fully asymmetric uh factions and stuff.
Like I hate to [ __ ] say it. It's good. It is a good ass game.
Don't hate to say it.
I mean I do cuz I don't want to pump his ego, you know.
Did you Who gave him the nickname Skippy
the peanut butter?
I can't say it when it is going out on stream. I will put it in the chat. He has actually made me delete it out of videos before.
Uh,
but I will put it in the chat. Please, nobody say it out loud.
Okay.
Bait breath.
They call him the
Does anybody has anybody ever seen any reals um of this lady? She has It's a standup comic. She's She goes by um uh Lucy Darling.
Yes.
Yes.
She's a magician from
Was that
There's the answer to Skippy in the chat.
Short swallower. She's from Saskatchewan
and she's so amazing.
Anyways,
got it.
I just recently discovered her and she's fantastic.
Mhm. H
what's his nickname? What do you call him?
Well, I call him Steve, but he's Skippy.
Skippy. Okay.
His on board game geek, it's listed as designer Steve. Skippy Brown.
Skippy. All right. There you go.
Yeah. So, so the chat that that that's the reason which is uh it's something I didn't know.
To the Skippy peanut butter fortune. Oh, I wish, man.
Hello.
That would be amazing. Oh, I should I should have made him come on. He came on once before a couple years ago. He's not very entertaining. I'm way more interesting than he is, but
Well, that's not saying much.
That's true.
That tells you how not interesting he is. Um, so now that I have a a a packing guide for this insert,
it's still a shitty ass insert. Like this is stupid.
You know, back in my day, inserts were called a bag of Ziploc baggies.
Back in two, you know, you used to hold the
That's the way we like it. Lance, back in my day,
the insert was the same in every single game.
Yeah, it was.
It was the box. Oh, so I got a client sent me a a prototype to a game recently. I got the box and I opened it up and it was just this smattering of like loose cards and everything and then I found two elastics. I'm like, the elastics must have like totally given up the ghost as they as they shipped it cuz they must have been like jostled around a bunch. It was so funny. I just like, oh, this is interesting. It's like a big like big melting pot of [ __ ] components.
Kabuki kid, go back Lunar Rush.
I called him up by name, so now they they have to
Did you see my reply to your message, Will? Yes, I did know that. I don't know if that's an apocryphal, but I I refuse to research it to find out that's not true.
It's true.
Oh, so good.
Yeah, that is true.
Anyways, night all.
It's way it's way better than Skippies.
Night, Matthew.
Dip.
Uh, apocryphal. That's a good word.
I do. I am an English teacher. I got words, baby. What was the name of that uh that that book that you were uh uh saying was really good again, Lance?
King Sorrow.
King Sorrow. Yeah. I just started a thing. So, one of the things that we've all the English teacher, we've noticed about students the past few years is their stamina for reading has dropped. Like it's really hard for them to read for more than like 10 minutes. So, I've started a thing where like they they have to read for 30 minutes and I take their phones away
like no audiobooks.
Yeah. Yeah. I I actually I listen like my reading stamina has gone down because it listens with so many audio books
but like Yeah. So, yeah. No audio books. It's just take a book and read. But I get to do it too which is the best part. So, I'm going to be looking for a lot of books in the next few, you know, the rest of the year. So, King Sorrow is now on my list.
I just cannot do audiobooks. I I always just I can't because I have to sit I I I cannot stand like not realizing what I've read, right? You know what I mean? And and whenever I try to listen to something,
it's like the only time I can ever do an audio book is if I'm driving because I because I have to I can't be doing something else. It's like, oh, I I got this audio book and like, oh, I I I suppose I could also um like do this craft or I could, you know, do this other thing. There's something else that takes up my mind and then my mind will kind of wander and I'll think of something and all of a sudden like I like 20 minutes have gone by with this audio book and I haven't paid any attention to it.
Yeah.
And I have no idea what's going on. And so, no, I just got to read. I I I mean I and if I and if I and if I allow myself to just sit down and say, "Oh, I'm just going to sit here quietly and listen to this audiobook." You just like, you know, so
the problem with audio books is you don't get to like a lot of them you don't get to sample them to see who's reading it and how it's being read.
Audible let you sample like a chapter.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, my my my current favorite audio hate audio audio book series is crawler.
Everyone,
what' you say? Dungeon crawler.
Uh, I was saying dungeon crawler Carl.
Yeah.
And it is it's such a stupid ass premise.
But it's so well written, I think. And like the sat
Oh, all the way. I I'm all the way. sex.
Yeah, just this the satire and the like the heart. Like when I was listening to one at the at the end of one of them and I was like I'm about to cry. I was like what the [ __ ] This is Dungeon Crawler Carl and I was about to cry.
It's a great story.
Yep.
I want movies. I want all of it. I want games.
Yep.
It's It's so good. It It's still fantastic. one yet.
Well, maybe you try the audio book because the the the narrator
listen to we do it while we paint.
Yep. Yeah. The narrator I think is really good.
Chapter 25, 26 or whatever.
Book one.
Yeah.
And it's like they only get better. Like every book is better. Um which
I don't know if we're going to go after book one, but yeah.
Well, you're a cankerous [ __ ] then. I'm just saying.
Wow. I know they're doing like a what are they doing? They're doing an RPG game. They're doing like a deck builder. Um
yeah, they're taking uh the John Declair Unbreakable Unstoppable. What freak it is.
Yeah, I was hoping they would get make a multiplayer game, but
maybe that'll come eventually.
I mean, hopefully this will be the the John Declair game that I love. Like, and no shade on John Declair. Like, whatever. He's made his money and people love him. I've yet to find
that much money. He's got a lot of freaking games out there. I mean, he has to have made bank off Mystic Bale.
I heard that game is Unstoppable was pretty good.
That's what I keep hearing. Like so many
It's only one or two player though.
Yeah. Yeah. So many people that that I've talked to like, you know, I don't like John Declar Games, but this one's really good. Which has prompted me to be like, okay, maybe I need to go check it out. He's a nice enough dude. Like, I met him.
Yeah. But I just don't like Mystic Veil at all. I really don't like Mystic Veil.
Ready to set Bet was a lot of fun.
No, it was not.
You shut your dirty [ __ ] mouth. What? What have fun doing?
It was so much fun the first time I played and the second time I played and then it was no longer fun. I would never play that over hot streak.
I never played Hot Streak.
You are a cankerous [ __ ] Yeah,
I've never seen right now we're playing.
Hot streak is fantastic.
I just have to find it for sale. I've not seen I've been trying to find that and a new copy of this new new print run of Magical Athlete. I can't find it anywhere.
Yeah, I'm sure it's it's between prints probably.
Yeah. Yeah.
I think I'm done with Magical Athlete though. I played a lot of Magical Athlete.
Really?
It's it's just fun. It's fun.
It's fun and then but it overstays as well.
It doesn't stay. Yeah. I don't need to keep playing it.
Yeah,
that was the vibe I got got off of it.
Like I'm not trying to be negative on that.
Well, and and then you'll always end up forgetting somebody's power, right? You you'll be like,
"Oh, no, wait. I was supposed to go extra because you did that. Well, it's too late now." You know, you're just like, "Well, god damn it. Why am I even bothering then?
Can I Can I have another grievance?"
Sure,
you can have mine. This packing guide is utter [ __ ] trash. It's terrible. I'm looking at all this stuff. I'm like, "Oh, I've packed everything that the packing guy says to pack and I have that many again components that I have not packed."
Uh, Aldi, get one of your interns to punch and pack this game. The next grievance I'll let you have I want you all in one bag.
I want to be a better one. That was that was not much of a grievance.
Look, I'm angry. Okay, look. But hey, now my my second grievance was solid.
My first one got ruined because of like feelings and reality. My second one was solid. That's all I got.
What have you done for me lately?
Uh, nothing. But I am going to bring you literally the best whiskey in the world because it won the best whiskey in the world competition.
What What whiskey is that?
It's from 10th Street Distillery in San Jose. You are a cankerous [ __ ] also.
Uh 10th Street Distillery in San Jose is called The Dragon.
I'm an [ __ ] sir.
I'm surrounded by [ __ ]
When is that movie coming out?
I don't know. Hopefully.
Hey, did any of you watch the uh the Chvy Chase documentary?
No.
No.
Speaking of [ __ ]
I did finally watch that. And um and you know, it's basically him talking about and then they kind of and it's they don't shy away from the stuff where he was he was shitty. Um
Yeah. and uh and and it's a lot of you know interviews with him you know and his and his family and um yeah I mean it was like one of those things where uh like stuff he didn't I didn't know about him like that um they his brothers talk about how like his uh his mother um his his dad either I forget his dad just kind of was out of the picture and like he he moved away and so he really knew his dad and and she remarried and and because he was like the kid that was the son from the other marriage, like his stepdad hated him,
and would just physically abuse him constantly and his mom just would then join in and physically abuse him constantly.
Yeah.
Is that Is that how it works when you have kids, Lance?
Uh, I don't know.
What one of you abuses and the other just joins in? Is that how that works?
Yeah. No. No, that's not how it works. No, I mean it's it's Go watch it. It it's like uh it is a it is it is a you know they don't shy away from the fact that he he even says oh yeah I'm I'm an [ __ ] you know it's like I just you know but you know and it's just you know he talks about like some of the problems he's had and whatever and like the massive amounts of drugs that he did and you know and like and talks about his addictions and stuff. But if you are, you know, if if it's, you know, I always think these those things are a little bit um manufactured, I guess, in a way. You know, it's like, you know, they definitely probably try to focus on um you know, I don't know what's looking for here, but I mean like they I think they focus on uh they're cultured, right, to get that feeling. A good documentary is is cultured well to get the feelings that it wants out of the viewer. So, I always kind of hold myself back a little bit before I kind of dive in and allow myself to believe. But, I mean, I don't know. It's worth it. Go watch it. I'm Chvy Chase and you're not, you know, and they um
they talk about him being in Steely Dan. Uh they talk about him, they talk about uh him and music a lot and they talk about the fact that he's um he's got some major health problems now. Um and and he was he uh he had like some major heart problems and one of the one of the side effects of his major heart problems with like basically his brain was was not getting enough blood and so he started having um a great deal of of memory issues. He was like forgetting uh he was forgetting the names of his family and things like that and and like just like
you know I mean and again I mean it's like yeah it doesn't mean that he wasn't a dick and and that that you know like he he didn't you know say and do some horrible [ __ ] I'm not trying to like you know we should all feel sorry for Chvy Chase you know this millionaire who lives in a mansion. um you know, but you know, it's just yeah, I mean, it's just it it's just it's just some sides to him that like you know, some stories about him that like basically have never been said before. So, it's kind of interesting that in that regard. And you get people like, you know, Dan Akroyd like talking very uh honestly about him and stuff like that, you know. So, it's it's it's a it's a it's a it's a nice little uh uh you know, whatever. It's it definitely it it like I said it it just shows sides of him that you don't really and it touches on like the whole uh community thing how like him and Dan Harmon didn't get along and so go watch it. It's it's like I think it's on I think it's on HBO streaming right now.
It's like 87 minutes. You can burn through it. worth the watch. Uh, I watched um um Why can't I talk? I I uh the new uh the new Game of Thrones uh
the whatever. Yeah.
Yeah.
Well worth it. Plus, the the episodes are only like 30 minutes long, so you can get through them quick for season's done. Not going to give any spoilers. That's very good. Watch that.
Yeah, I need to watch it.
Um, uh, what was the other thing I just recently watched? Um, I talked about Oh, we watched a second season of Hijack. Um,
I don't know what that is.
Not as good as the first season of Hijack, but worth a watch with Idris Elba.
Has anyone seen the the the most recent Knives Out?
Yes.
Yes.
Started it, but it turned it off.
I I Aldi is crazy. He doesn't know what he's talking about. I adored it. Uh,
yeah. I liked it better than the second one, but I I've liked all of them. I' I've liked all of them.
I mean, this is definitely I mean, not as good as the first, but but miles above the second one because the second one was just
That's what I was worried about.
Yeah, I put it uh number one, three, two, but there was there was some good stuff about two.
Yeah, it just it just wasn't great. you have to um number three opens up really smartly in a way, but like they don't you don't really I mean like you you you kind of get this this long backstory of of what's of where it is before even the detective guy shows up. And I really like that. I I I enjoyed the fact that they were like, you know, just having some fun with it. And uh and and and then, you know, and then, you know, when he shows up, it's just kind of one of those things where it's like, oh, you know, it this Oh, yeah. This is a Knives Out show, you know, like you you you forgot basically in a weird way.
Um
I mean, I I like the second season. Not as good as the the first one, but like have you you guys ever watched The Sinner Bill Pullman
series?
No.
So the it's there's four seasons of it. The first two are really really good. The third one sucks so bad and the fourth one is really good. So, it was kind of like the I don't want to go back and watch it kind of thing because it was so bad the third one, but the fourth season was actually good. So, that's why I was wondering like is this going to be good or not. All right.
Yeah, I we enjoyed it. I I think the uh Lance, I'll be curious if you agree or disagree with me.
I perform
No, I bet you don't. I think the performance of Well, everybody was very good, but the priest I thought he was so good.
Yeah, Priest did a real good job.
I I feel like that's kind of been the the one of the reasons why I like those movies so much is that like the performances are always good.
It is definitely weird to have um James Bond play that character though. Yeah, I mean it just it I mean kudos to him to not be typ cast or whatever.
He looks like [ __ ] in the third movie. He looks terrible.
He He looks like he's just like Yeah. Nine Miles of Bad Road. I don't know if that's on purpose or what, but it's a weird It's a It's a weird decision for them. Um, what else have I recently watched? Um, I recently I've been mostly just reading. Like I've been reading that King Sorrow book. I mean, I uh I uh I really enjoy uh reading a book. That's what I I mean, but it's sometimes tough to find uh like it's just tough to find books that are like I don't know engaging on that level.
I don't know what the deal is. Maybe I'm just crazy. But what sucks is like I know like I've gotten now to the point where I I need there to be like kind of almost the perfect lighting in a room for me to be okay with reading it and and uh just because I can't stand reading in dim light anymore. Um I think of all the nights where I stayed up late after like my mother thought I was supposed to be in bed and I was like reading with a flashlight underneath my blankets
your eyes.
Yeah, probably did for all I know. Um,
I mean, you are sitting in a dim ass room right now with like no light.
I'm not trying to read, you know, so,
but I'm saying maybe that's the problem.
Maybe
maybe if you turn a light on right now.
I don't need
the light evil.
So, my eyes are are just so horrible. Like I hate dim light with
these eyes are so horrible. Yeah. With with the the the fire of a thousand sons. I hate dim light. I just It's you. It's got to be [ __ ] dark or what? Or or bright as [ __ ] or I'm grumpy. I mean I'm grumpy anyway, but yeah.
That was a good story. I'm glad you all stayed for it.
Yeah. Um, I don't know. Yeah, I in a weird way. I mean, and I'm not I'm not I'm not ever going to like say if like if if you listen to audiobooks and that's how you consume books, I'm not I'm not I'm not trashing on that. I'm I don't want anybody to think that. But I do feel like the art of like sitting down and reading a book is like being lost. I mean, it just and not just because people are listening to audiobooks or anything like that. I'm just talking about how how much people just want to um like how how how we're how we're consuming like our information now with with Tik Tok and everything else that's going on.
And you know, I mean, I just I just don't think people like really just sit down and read books very much anymore. No, they don't. I mean,
there's like there's a thousand things going on and and maybe you don't have time to do it, you know?
So, again, I'm not judging. I'm just saying
that I get it.
That's one of the things that like that's what I was talking about like as English teachers like it's students, they can't read for a long time because they don't because there's other stuff to do. And it was weird like when I I took all their and like I I don't take their phones away. Like that's not who I am as a teacher. But today I took them all away and they all had a book. If they didn't I got a big shelf take a book and they just read for 30 minutes. And at the end I was like okay. 30 minutes in I was like how many of you are surprised you had a good time? I [ __ ] you not. Every hand went up.
Oh it's because they wanted to kiss your ass. But yeah. Anyway,
no, no, no, no. Look, but my c my class is not an ass kissing class. Like, let me tell you, not like me as a reviewer where like, you know, kiss my ass. No, it's like it's just not that. But like shocked. They're like, and several of them were like, I don't want to put this away. I was like, well, I mean, you can take it home with you if you want to read it, but like we got to move on.
But it's it's hard. They just it's so easy not to stop and read.
Yeah. That's my soap box
where you have lots of soap. Irish Spring in there. Lever 2000.
Oh, it's the Irish Spring. I have some Guinness with it.
Remember Remember when Lever 2000 first came out and everybody was like this is like a new brand new like now it's just considered to be like the the trash of bar soaps.
Yeah. Everyone
I feel like all bar soap is the trash of soap at this point. I I like bar soap.
I do too. I'm just saying. Like ain't nobody like, "Give me that new bar soap."
Yeah.
Oh, I [ __ ] hate this goddamn insert. Holy [ __ ] I'm so close to setting it on fire.
Mhm. Fire. Um, trying to think.
Do we have Do we have another another initials to do or we only had one tonight?
Uh, we did two.
We did two.
And then
Oh. Oh. Oh, I just missed the first
and I I really don't want to have give Anthony another win. So,
yeah, but he's not going to win this time. This is one. This is for the championship of the world
obviously.
Um what I'm so out of out of it as far as like um I mean is there a big board game that's being released this year that people are like you know?
Well, I don't know. I was going to ask a question. Supposedly Zman's announcing something big tomorrow.
Yeah. Did you see that?
Oh, really?
Did you see that um screenshot of it or whatever the thing?
They posted a little like a picture on Facebook.
Looks like Game of Thrones, but not really.
Yes, that's what I was kind of thinking. But
it looks a little Game of Thrones. Oh, I I didn't see that. Um
maybe bring it up and maybe Lance can deduce it. Can you
That's interesting.
Not a lot to go off.
Yeah, share the picture. somebody.
But there's like a bottle of wine and like a there's some banners like Two Thrones
because I'm uh I'm bummed my uh I'm I'm buddies cuz she's local uh with their creative director, but she's off in like Fiji or some [ __ ] right now. So, I feel like if I text her, I'm an [ __ ] If I'm like, "What the hell is this?"
Uh
but then you know,
I know, but I want her to continue to vacation.
What was that?
I said, "But then you'll know in satiate your curiosity at the expense of her away time and vacation."
Yeah. Uh I I want her to still want to hang out with me on occasion. So do that anyway, though. So I mean
I know Lance, but you don't have to tell the world. Hey,
now Chris Cluey knows. So,
well, Chris Cluey just killed the conversation.
Here's the only thing, Scott. I I have deducted from the whole Zman thing. So, if you look at what they posted yesterday, they just posted that picture said 226 2026 and that picture of the table with the thing. But if you go back to Valentine's Day,
damn, you going back far.
They posted all is fair in love and duel.
Oh, is it like a love letter? And it's the same. Is it a love letter?
Oh my god. I do know what it is and I'm not allowed to [ __ ] say,
but if you are smart enough to listen to what Scott said or what I just said.
Yes, it's two-player love letter. me.
I mean, I guess.
Cool.
The only the only love letter worth playing is Lovecraft Letter when everybody else gangs up on you.
That's right. It's the best.
Yeah. I mean, there's a love letter on the on the table and there's coins and there's a goblet.
Yeah.
It's not a princess bride thing, is it? Oh,
I really I really like Bri, and I'm not gonna say anything.
Okay. Well, then Okay.
Oh, I've got a secret, but I can't tell you.
Look at me. This is why you This is why you This is why you were denied.
That's right.
[ __ ] me. I deserve that [ __ ]
But you know what? There there are I don't know. Maybe on I can put on both hands that number of people that I'm like, you know what, you've asked me to keep a secret board game person. I will
keep it secret. Keep it safe.
Yeah. Like Bri is one of those people.
Yeah. There there's not a lot, but she's one of them.
Is it safe?
Never was.
Anthony, I want you to know if I have one of your secrets though, I'm going to put it right out on Alaboom.
I don't have any secrets.
Well, I know, but if I had one, like right out on Alaboom. Okay.
Too many secrets. secrets.
So many secrets. I think next week
secret got a secret.
We'll actually know what's actually coming out after Gamma.
How many of you guys are going to Gamma?
Not me.
Not me.
He's got to suck up to people.
He does it so good though. He's got to get trashed boss.
How come you don't get to go, Lance?
There's no point. Plus, I wouldn't want to.
Oh, well, that's a good reason.
That's fair. I mean,
it's one of those things where if there was like a if if there was like a reason like as far as for something for me to sell or something, then you know, it would be uh you know, but I there's nothing to you know, Shane goes to take some meetings with some people and
and get dinner with me
and get dinner with Evan and But
you were in my expansion, Evan. What the [ __ ]
That's not a makeup.
We don't have a booth, you know. So, I mean, and and and having a booth at uh at Gamma is like pulling teeth. It's so stupid,
right?
I mean, it's ostensibly. So, you know, there are uh you have um game stores, local game stores like reach out and then uh like you know, they want to like buy buy games or whatever from you and which you know, so they know your games exist or whatever. It's like one I mean and but it just I don't know. It just never seems to it never seemed to ever really do anything to have a to have a convention to be there for that. There's definitely some things like that did work out well as far as like the when our miniatures and stuff that's kind of nice, but I mean as far as like trying to convince people it's like oh yeah, you need to buy these games or whatever.
Just it never really seems to
anything ever happen. I mean, right now we just actually started doing we have a we have a retailer portal now set up on our website and so people can buy our board games just directly from us and get rid of the distributors. And that's been like one of the best things we ever did was just like just let people buy our games directly from us, you know, give us the 50% off or whatever and
and you know, works way better that way than like trying and because all we ever hear is like, "Oh yeah, we've been trying to get your games through our distributor for oh, Southern Hobby doesn't have it. These guys don't have it. These guys don't have it." You know,
right? And it's just like, you know, well, that's weird because they don't ask us for the games. So, if you're asking for them for it, they're not hitting us up for them. So, there's a disconnect in there somewhere.
Yeah. I feel like there's always a dis the the triple tier model or whatever. I think it's getting severely tested.
So, so Lance, if I get a job working for Gamma, I I can't have you convince you to get a table. You're you're you're you're going to work for Gamma.
I I put in a resume.
Well,
for the exhibitor manager position.
No,
I know a guy.
I uh
uh Yeah, Shane would just say no. I mean,
I I'm kidding.
I already know what Shane would say.
Is the Is it free? Are you paying me to be there? Yeah. Yeah,
you're there anyway.
I'm out.
Are you going to man my table
and break it break down and set up?
Do I have to walk up a flight of stairs?
That's still That's still my favorite my favorite story is we had packs unplugged.
Oh,
and the people who broke down the booth. None of us work for
Yes. Everybody left,
right?
All right. It It's It's official. I'm not doing it now, but I'm throwing away this goddamn insert and putting all this [ __ ] in bags
cuz this is a [ __ ] show.
I have never I I mean, and I know I'm not in the majority here, but I have never seen the purpose of having a big insert with has like a designated spot for all the things, you know? I mean, I've never seen the desire for any of that.
If it does not help me set the game up faster, I don't care. But I think if I throw away, with the exception of the spot to put the miniatures, all this [ __ ] and just bag it, I'm pretty sure all these [ __ ] expansions that I couldn't stop myself from backing because I'm a dumbass, I bet I can fit them all in this one box, which will make me happy. Sorry, I'm angry about it.
Well, it's a good thing to be angry about. I mean, you have very little control over it and you're allowing it to affect your life negatively, but
Exactly. You know, I mean, I look, I I I gave them good money like seven years ago or some [ __ ] so I get to be angry about it now.
Sounds
I backed this thing so long ago. Evan, where's my expansion for After the Empire?
You got the wrong guy.
No, I got the right guy.
I am not in charge.
Where's my goddamn expansion expansion?
Manufacturing or printing with regards to After the Empire.
Where's my goddamn expansion, Evan?
Hey, Evan. Yeah. Did those movies that you you've been in, do they do they ever stream them online anywhere? Oh
yeah, they're on Pornhub.
I think that's true. I think that's true. Um like the my little short films that were recent.
Yeah, like the ones the last couple that you did that
No, they're still doing they're still doing Festival Circuit stuff. Oh,
okay.
So you can't release them until that's done.
No, that's fine. My brother My brother makes movies like that, too.
Oh, nice.
I'm I'm aware of the situation.
Yeah,
we're aware of his work. A year or two, probably.
This lid lifts. [ __ ] man. Look at that lid lift.
When they become available, let me know. I'd like to see them.
Okay. Okay. Yeah.
Not just because you're in them. They just sound interesting.
Cool. Thanks, man. Yeah. No problem.
I have so much lid lift. I'm so furious.
I'd also like to see them.
You're just talking. Well, if you had if you had been showing up on a regular basis, you would have seen it when we had the chance to watch it.
Oh, that's true. Yes.
I wasn't invited.
Yeah.
You're you're invited every week.
You You have You
referring to me?
I was I'm referring to Forest who who who vanished
for a period of time.
I'm glad you're back, Forest. Who's behind the green screen? Right. Um, wow. Nobody's got anything. Nobody's got any grievances.
Not a lot.
Nobody's got any board games they played.
Look, I busted out four grievances. I can't carry the episode. Everybody,
did I talk about um
Treasure Trove?
No.
It's pretty fun.
What is that?
It's basically like a bidding game. Do you remember Money? You ever play Money? Yes.
Yes.
I've never had money.
It's a variant of money.
I'm a teacher.
But it's trinkets. You're like little mice collecting trinkets. It's pretty cute. It's fun.
Cool.
But you're using your cards as bidding. So like you're trying to collect sets and it's just it, you know, it's it's just a nice game. Nothing like nothing like mind-blowing, but it's just fun.
You know, I did play uh tea garden yesterday for the first time,
right? Um I don't Thomas Hollik, Tomas Hol or however you say it.
Yeah.
Who is this dude? Like did he just come from another planet and is like here's all the games everyone wants?
Oh, really? Is that who it is?
Well, no. He did STI and Galileo Galilee and Tegard. No, he has Aquaria coming like
Yeah.
And he just got signed and it all came out of
Yeah. I have to assume Evan hates him because suddenly he has all these games.
I don't know him.
Well, you hate him though, right?
No. Why would I hate
that? That's how artists are. Like, I know how it works. Look, I I've been in the the the artist business, Evan. I know. I know what it's about. You could pretend you're all noble, but I know
you know I know.
Shaman Freder, I enjoy that.
Um, but uh Tea Garden is pretty dang cool. I mean, I haven't played it enough to be, you know, but my It's one of those games that like if I went to Lance's booth and did a demo, cuz Lance does demos, my my first play, I absolutely would have bought that game. Like, it's it's pretty freaking clever and way faster than STI, man.
So, I've tried STI for the first time about a month ago and I've played it five times since then.
Wow. And every single time I've played it, I've liked it a little bit less each time.
That's a bummer.
Oh, interesting. You know, I I can see that because there's so much freaking going on. Have you tried the expansion?
No, I think I want to try that because it shortens it. It gives it the four rounds, which I think is
fourth round first turn.
Yeah. drag.
Like I played it tonight with my buddy and there was one point where he did he wasn't very efficient for a round and then it was just me for like seven turns just like oh [ __ ] I just unlocked this and that and he was like that that just wasn't fun at all. I was like you know what that that actually happened to me one of those games too and it's just
you should be like you know what you should back Luna Rush there
I do like Luna Rush though. I played the original one at Origins one time. It's a good game. Well, you better back the expansion, baby.
Baby,
kind of game is Learn Rush. What?
Simultaneous Euro?
Not played it.
Uh, it's a it's a Euro mostly simultaneous play. So, uh, it's Tableau builder, but your tableau is your building up your own worker placement spots for your moon base. And kind of the the the key shtick of it is at the beginning of each round, you're bidding to get different routes to send [ __ ] up from Earth to the moon.
Okay.
And the slow routes take a whole bunch of crap, but it takes three turns to get there. It's like you don't have the stuff for three rounds. or you can get stuff right away if you get a fast route, but you only get a few things. And you're bidding your victory points to do it. So, everyone does their bidding for an up and a down route. And you send [ __ ] up to the moon. You build up your base and then you make [ __ ] on the moon that Earth wants and you have to ship it back down to sell it. And it's got a bunch of different markets that you can have. So, like you can start kind of playing the weird game of it's like, "Oh, okay. Okay. Well, Evan's about to get a whole bunch of like space crystals to sell. So, I'm going to bid high and get the fast route down so I can snipe his, you know, his his market slot because every time a ship hits the market, it adjusts,
right?
You know, supply and demand. Uh, it's really clever. Like, it really, you know, it's cube pushing, but it's cube pushing it in space. And um
cues never been pushed before.
Exactly. But now but the expansion makes all the Yeah. Every every player gets to be completely asymmetric now.
Like it's not quite like a Merchants Cove level of asymmetry,
but they're really different. Like you might be like, you know, the robot faction or the cyborgs or whatever. It's it's a good games, Aldi. it. You should you should throw some BGG money at it and
I did. I backed it. I backed it.
Oh, what a guy.
I think I backed the original one, too, but I just never got around the planet. It's in the library.
Yeah, it's um you know, uh are you going to go to Jimcon Aldi?
I am not.
You going to come to Kuba Con?
No, it's the same weekend as BGcon.
So, that' be a no.
Well, sometime we will play.
Okay. I was going to offer to play with you, but uh I clearly am not coming to BDG Con. I'm going to Kubicon. Yeah, we'll we'll play. I I I I do think it's I do really I legitimately, brother aside, think it's a game that's been severely overlooked. You know, it's a it's a 7.6 on BG right now. It's tragic. Like, it was almost back up to a 7.7 and some guy is like, "Fuck you three." And just how it works, man.
How many ratings do you have?
Uh, I don't know. Yeah. Or I don't know, like uh 255, 355. It's not It's like 5,000 something on BGD. That's like
It's over 5,000. That's pretty good.
I mean, it's enough to where it's like, you know, 7.6. Like, I'm like, okay. Like, that's
See, I did there. It's like that meme.
Which meme? It's over 2000.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Heard that's a better game than After the Empire.
You know, After the Empire would be better if there was an expansion that I could play.
It's only 7.4.
What? Really?
Yeah.
That's not a 7.4. That game's a 7.5, baby.
Luna Rush 7.6. That's point2 higher.
That's true. Look, After the Empire is a good game. We We play it regularly. Do you actually play?
Yeah.
Oh, that's awesome.
There's 356 ratings.
356. Thank you. Yeah. But my wife won't play it, Evan. She played it once. She was like, "This game can go right to hell."
She She hates it when a game destroys what she's built.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's fair.
Like so much she hates it. And like that is the entire point of the game.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. It's a Yeah. No, since Skippy has a copy of After the Empire,
does he?
He does. We played it at Ragecon. He was like, "This shit's really good." I was like, "Yeah, but the designer is a dick." He's like, "What about the other designer?" I was like, "He's cool. You can decide which is which." And no, he he while we were sitting at the table, he actually ordered a copy.
Oh, that's really funny. I don't think he mentioned because I I'm in a little play test group with him and I don't think he mentioned that he played it. He's really bad at networking. Like, you would like him so much better if you knew that, right?
I mean, that's how I judge people is if they played my game.
I mean, I would. Yeah. No, we we uh uh decently regularly we still pull it out. Um
That's cool.
Yeah. Don Don um my podcast usual co-host, he he really likes it. And so I was I was like, "Don, do you want to take this game home?" He's like, "Yes."
Yeah. But, you know, he's up the street. Yeah, it's it's really fun.
Just so you know, Evan, Tom Vassel gave your game an eight.
I saw that.
Yeah, but that's Tom Vassel. Who cares about him?
Which which game?
After the Empire.
Oh, After the Empire.
Damn, Aldi. That cut deep. That cutting me deep.
No, no, Evan's got a lot of games coming. I was wondering if something came out. I'm very excited about that uh monastery stacking [ __ ] game you made me play at Origins that one time.
That's a lot better now, too.
Not possible. That was the greatest thing I've ever done in my life. I won't tell you how many h uh how much booze we I drank while at that table, but it was a good time.
Was that Was that like three years ago where we also played Col? Ah, yeah. It may have been four years ago, quite frankly, to be honest.
Man, can I can I still be buttth hurt about Col not actually coming out?
You definitely can. I was also waiting for that to come out.
And like that was like the dream for all of us nerds. Like I designed a fan-made solo mode that they're like, "Hey, let us give you some money and put this in the game and make a mele of your ass."
Yeah.
And then it didn't come out.
Yeah. Ah,
I mean I feel, you know, like so, you know, I I backed the Kickstarter and didn't get the game, which is a bummer, but I feel extra bad for Johnny because, you know, his game didn't come out.
Was pretty good.
Was great. Yeah. And I, you know, I uh I have lots of feelings about all of it. Um, but like and I probably know a little bit more than most people, but
Col was a good game. Yeah. And that that expansion was really good. And I still have I have still have the prototype stuff for four players. So if you ever come out of Kubicon, Evan, we can play it.
At the same time as BG,
you're a trumpet, Evan.
Oh my god.
You know what? I'm gonna go I'm going to go rate after the Empire a two.
You should.
I'm not going to rate it a one because that just makes people think I'm just being a dick. But a two, maybe a 2.35.
That's exactly right. That's perfect.
Put a lot of thought into it.
I did. I did. I love how every time Bower talks, like you just look at nothing.
Yo, what's going on?
The green screen. That's how it works, man.
Dude, what the [ __ ] are you doing? You're like 40 feet away. Come over here. Fold laundry.
Oh, fold laundry. Fair. Oh, yeah. That's right. I'm walking away. I got I got to let the uh the beast out calling it now.
Yeah, Beatatrice.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let I'm going to go whip out my dick. That's what I have to go do. Jesus.
Uh if anyone's keeping track, uh Help Wanted has 51 ratings.
What's Help Wanted?
It's Forest Game.
Come on, man. Yeah.
Forest.
What do you want me to go rate it, Forest?
It's 24,03.
8.7
8.7. Okay. You You got to put in the chat what what my comment is for that. Here we go. 51 ratings. There it is.
Undead Jungle has zero ratings.
Yeah, that one never that one ended up being too fidgety and we just we couldn't figure it out. That's because you brought Eric in to help you design that one with you.
Yeah.
See, too many cooks.
When was this? 2013.
Was a minute ago.
No, it's just a little adult party game.
But I did it. I did a thing. I saw it published.
Take it to my grave. H ridiculous problems, hilarious solutions.
Actually, I'm thinking about taking that to Gen Con and shopping it to some uh some adult game publishers potentially. Think it'd be a fun fun experience to try. Never shopped a game before. Just see what that's like.
I mean, you know, some people, so it makes the experience uh a lot.
It's also incredibly niche. Like, I'd be talking to like
Choking Hazard, like those people. Like, it's it's adult party game. Like,
sure.
Yeah.
All I know is Evan has a game that's rated a 10.
Do I?
No.
A perfect 10. What game is that? No way.
Met the talk.
Oh, because it has like two ratings.
Two ratings. Both of them tens.
That's how you know it's good. Oh, yeah. After the Empire just got a one. Nice. He did it. He said he was going to do it and then he did it.
He's a man of his word.
Who did it?
No, it wasn't him. It was somebody else.
Oh, somebody else. So, how does it work though at when you do something like Bahan Bug when there's like 13 of you?
Yeah.
And do you like split the rating?
No, I mean you just, you know, you you you make your little design and you and it's included in the box and you don't, you know, it was it was a it was a for fun design project. Not a game that I expected to make any money on.
Well, it it's better than the last time that a bunch of designers got together and designed a a game in one box. What was that?
What was that?
Lance, you know what game it is? Did someone just rate your thing a one just now?
What? Say that again.
Remember Stonehenge?
Yes. Oh my god.
What a disaster.
What an absolute disaster.
What What made What made Stonehenge the biggest disaster was the fact they had all these big names in it.
Of all the games you could play with it, there was like one that was like halfway decent. I think it was um I can't remember now. I'm trying to remember who did it. Oh, Magic the Gathering.
Oh,
Garfield.
Yeah. But the thing that made this game I always laughed at this game was it was my pinnacle of how you knew when you walk into a game store you never been in before if it was a good game store or not. Because if they still had a copy of Stonehedge
bad
on the shelf at the full price, you knew they had no idea.
Yeah.
Games.
That's funny.
It was horrible. Well, and the idea was it was going to be like, correct me if I'm wrong, but it was the game was that it had the components were the same, but they had multiple designers designed the games around the components.
Around the components.
Yeah. Yeah. Same idea. Yep.
And it went over like a wet fart in church. that's going to itch when it dries.
And that was the thing. You'd go into a store and it'd be a copy of Stone Head. You'd pull it off. You'd see it was the full MSRP price and you'd put it back and you'd walk out of the store because you're like, "These people have no idea what the about games."
Hey, somebody's gonna buy that game. Okay.
No.
What is Lance? We we played a game about like gods or some crap couple years ago.
That's the name.
But you guys
No.
Yeah. Oh,
gods are some crap.
What's up with that game? That game was dope.
The problem is that basically the game was like a three and a half hour long game. And
that's true. And we we did what we could with it and we sent it back to the designer and we told him, "This is what you need to fix about this game." And he said, "Okay, cool. I'll work on it." And we haven't heard from him since.
Oh,
what?
Wow. Really?
Yeah.
Wait, what was this?
So, I I played a game with Lance on TTS like four years ago. Yeah, I remember you guys were saying that it was a really cool game.
Yeah, and gods are some crap.
Yeah, I was like, this is really cool. There's all these different pantheons of gods that like and as you
like you you choose like oh you know you start with one pantheon it's like I'm the god of death and then you became you know uh and then if you tied that in with um you know I'm the god of death or you know and something else those would lead you to like this this this there it was a you made a pyramid of your pantheons of your domains that you had dominion over.
Sounds cool.
Um, yeah. And then and then it would open up like oh I am the god of you know now now I'm I'm I'm the god of you know like you know
I am THE GOD OF HELLFIRE AND I BRING you
and it would just and but so inherently though the problem was is there were two there were two things that it was incredibly uh um you you didn't get points you got little tiny like little chunks of points like, oh, you earn one point here or you get two points from doing this.
Maybe maybe you like put a temple down on this one spot and that gets you five or whatever. But the process to get five points was like it took you like two or three turns to get to the process of putting that temple down to five points. But at the end of the game, you got a giant chunk of points where it's like, oh, did you do this? That's worth 11. Did you do this? That's worth 15. All of those followers you have, those are worth 23. And so, so you basically, you had this game where everybody was like probably when you go into the last round of the game, everybody had between like 9 to 18 points and then all of a sudden it was like and then the final scores are like 93, 71, 52, you know, and it's just like
that's it. That's that's not pleasing to play. it's not pleasing to to like see no return for what you're doing and then just have this giant glut of points show up at the very end. So we said one, fix that. Fix it so people are earning points the entire time they play. And then the second thing was
this game with with four players and everybody knows the rules, it still takes three and a half hours.
Yeah, cut that. you you've you've got to get this game down to, you know, in that case it's like to like a you know 20 to 30 minutes per player type of game.
Yeah.
And he said, "Got it. Understand." And and we haven't heard from him since.
That's a shame because that game could have been great. And who knows, may maybe maybe he's been working on it, you know,
you know, and and and he's gonna just come back and dazzle us.
Lance Lance, that card game is dead, right?
Which one?
The one that you you and I both really like where you put the cards out and then you resolve it backwards.
Oh, yeah. Far away.
That's dead, too. Oh, well, I mean,
uh,
let's go play Far Away because that's what that does.
No, this does way better.
Whoa. Is we had we had I mean, there's just there's so many games that we played that were like good and then they just never came nothing ever came of it. We had a we had there was this really really like seemingly fun game that was like had a like a Cthulhu theme, but it was like um but it was like a journey game and that one died on the vine. Hold on. I can probably I I'm not giving away I mean you know just here I'll be able to tell you the names of these things here in just a second. not names, but I mean, but that one and that one was fun, but it definitely had just it was just clunky in the middle and just didn't ever really um connect. We've had to um we got we have to change a few things for rim world you know just to so that's kind of being pre-made at this point which is um annoying but you know but we've got some good ideas and we got some things going on there. Uh let me see here.
um and play. We had a we had one that was like um was that mythic mashup? That was the one I think that was the game that you're referencing.
Oh, me?
Yeah, you.
No.
Or was that Paper Skylines?
Very aggressive.
No, it wasn't that either.
Uh Civilization Shuffle.
It might be that. All I know is there was a ton of cards.
Paris Agreement. You're thinking of
Paris Agreement. That's the one.
And Paris Agreement is another game that was like really really good. But again, it was like and
that's a game that's hard to sell.
That's a game that's hard to sell. That's that is a super heavy
based off that title. Like I don't care.
That is a heavy. But the problem with that is is that like because it has 450 unique cards like oh I'm going to I'm going to try to create more uh I'm going to try to create a solar powered uh uh engine. Well oh well you got two solar powered cowards cards at the very beginning but then um
and then you have and then you haven't seen one for four turns. So your design of being having a solar power engine is is is dead and gone and over
loser.
Yeah.
Just solar. Seriously, not with this government.
Yeah. I like that game. I like that game.
That game a lot.
Yeah.
And when we played it, I was like, "This is going to be a hard cell." But
Oh, I know. Uh, you know that I mean because it cuz it it was it was obtuse and um it definitely was. Yeah, that was that that's rough. I forgot about that. Most most distressing. Thanks for reminding me.
Distressing. Well, I mean, I did six months of hardcore play testing with that game and and and that was like an hour teach, man. That was
that was, you know,
six months down the drain.
So, what happened to that one?
The Paris agreement. I mean, it's just it it
it needs it needs something that allows you to
um well, it needs the designer needs to go back into all those cards and he needs to make it so there probably isn't so many avenues of
I see. There's too there's too much.
Yeah. I mean, I feel like, you know,
I see I just feel like if I put a game out there and Lance is like, "You know what? We're all in on this, but fix this thing." I would have that [ __ ] fixed for you in like three hours. Like, I would be busting my ass to get that done. That's that's the weird thing is like as a designer I don't know maybe
but sometimes maybe you hit a brick wall right I mean
yeah but then you then you reach out to a you phone a friend you know you figure it out make it happen
maybe he doesn't have any friends thanks thanks Evan for opening that wound
yeah thanks for reminding them
good job they're watching this Evan and now they're drinking good job
maybe
I mean tell them to reach out to me I'll help you know we'll help
Wow there it is Evan just wants a cut the royalties.
Wow.
I just want you to succeed and do well in a hobby market that is difficult to make money in.
So, Evan, having played the game,
yeah,
it it's a a large undertaking.
Okay. You almost you almost have to go strip it back to the beginning and do the same the same mechanics again, but go into it saying, "Okay, I don't need 18 different ways to to do this. I need six."
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, I mean, I can't really discuss a lot of this stuff like, you know, out loud because you don't want to say anything. bet. I mean,
right,
if you look in the chat, I can I I explained something else
a little bit more,
but um I just uh
damn.
Yeah,
that was for everybody watching. They don't get to know.
Yeah. And I'm sorry to be like that, but I mean and I and if we do an afterboom, I can I can I can I can explain a little bit further into that, but
um No, I mean I mean designers I mean it's
Wait,
what?
Wait, I'm I'm reading that now.
What?
Yeah, I know.
There you go, right?
I know. And and
Evan, can you can we get a reaction out of you, please?
I expressed my own personal like this. we probably shouldn't do this to to all all people involved and I was a I mean and I had no vote and even I had a vote I would have been outvoted so I mean I was just like all right you know so
I need to get a vote
what
I need to get a vote look my vote is for my After the Empire expansion that's my vote thanks
I mean it's it's it's it's something we want to do right I mean it's whole. I mean, it probably it probably needs a little bit of work to like maybe balance a little few things, but
yeah, make it good.
As soon as Evan can teach it.
Yeah.
Oh [ __ ]
So, my favorite thing about Evan is I'd never played the game and at Gen Con the first time I went, I was like, I've never played this game, Evan. I want to play. And he found somebody that like drove out of the convention, went to his house, came back with the deluxe with like the playmat and everything.
Was it Jeremy?
No. Jerry. Jerry. Lily.
Jerry. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And we were playing at the bar and Evan's flirting with some girl who's playing.
Oh, come on.
And no, you know you were. and he's flirting and then we're playing and Jerry's teaching us and then Evan just like beats the [ __ ] out of us by like 500 points. And I'm like, "This is terrible. I don't want to play this ever again." And Ev was like, "No, no, it's really good. You're just bad. Let me go flirt with this girl."
That's how that went.
That's your favorite thing about me?
Yeah. That you beat the [ __ ] out of us? I thought it was
and this girl
and still I don't know where how it went, but I assume that you're now married. I I don't know. It was great. No, I I love the uh the don't give a [ __ ] about all of it. It was so good. I was like, "Wow." He's just like, "Yeah, I'm good at this game. [ __ ] you. Get out of my Get out of my kingdom, bitch." I I I don't mean to cultivate that vibe, but you know,
but but boy, you you you might as well because you did really well. That's that's now your thing.
I do have a bad habit of not being able to tone down my performance in game play.
If only you were that way IN THE BEDROOM.
WELL, the opposite
where like, you know, Shane almost didn't publish after the Empire because I crushed him. in our in our play test
in the bedroom. Oh my.
He maintains that it was because very good at that time.
My
I maintain it was because I beat him too harshly, too soundly.
The sounds he made were not sound.
Well, I mean,
I love that. I love everyone else got quiet in that whole five minute chat we just had.
True. That was fun. I had a good time. Hopefully you did, too. We'll do it again next week.
Sounds good.
Are you a gamer?
No, I'm not a gamer. We've had this conversation.
I know. That's what I thought. I was like, what do you mean we'll do it again next week?
Oh, I meant on this thing. No, no, my next I'm I got Kubla. I got Rage Con. And then I got
How to BG uh panel at at Gamma.
How to BG? What does that mean?
How to BG?
Yeah. What does that mean?
What do you think it means? Like if you're a publisher, what do you think it means? I'm just curious like just from that title.
To me, that's like, you know, how do I establish a presence? How do I make a page? How do I how do I post stuff?
How do how do I get my games on BG? How do I
that kind of stuff
work with BG?
Uh
like I want to know how how do you get into the hotness?
I will never actually work.
Never gonna tell.
You're never gonna tell.
Never gonna tell. Why would I tell? Why would I ever tell? I tell you, you tell uh what's that line from that movie? What is it?
I can I can tell you about this.
No, no. I tell you, you tell Real Genius. What does he say? Like,
oh,
I tell you. What's the line from Real Genius?
This is a really good moment in this. Uh
I know. Well, anyway, there's there's a there's a real genius line I want to say, but
I I think a breakfast club. I stand up.
You stand up.
We're all stand. But so so so but but so it's like a secret.
Yeah, it's a secret.
Oh, I didn't realize it was actually a secret. The secret.
Oh, yeah. No, it's I I have never I've never spoken what how it works ever.
This this is the secret. Have people go to BGG and interact with your game. Secret. Secret. I got a secret.
I feel like
What's your secret, man?
Anyway, whatever. I'm not telling because I'll tell you able to manipulate it.
And no, why would you want to do that? I wonder.
Dude, I would help my brother. Like, that shit's got 300 ratings. That is not going to hit the hotness. Come on.
I don't know what to tell you, man.
You could tell me how it works.
I'm not telling anyone ever.
Oh,
keep Well, we'll just have to get him drunk, man. You should Don't tell anybody. I'm just saying, Aldi, at Gen Con, I'm gonna have literally the best whiskey in the world. I'm just saying.
I'm bringing a bottle.
Side of meat, side of steak or whatever it is. The meat meat whiskey,
wasn't that?
No. No. Oh. Oh. I mean, if you want if you want to come to Gen Con,
come to Gen Con. I will absolutely make some some uh bacon uh washable fashions. I will do that.
I'd be down for that, but I'm not going. This sounds really good.
Oh, just come. It'll be We'll have a good time. You know,
we'll go
I mean,
we'll go bother Lance at his booth. Be like,
I'm interested in some promos, please.
Two weeks ago.
Yeah.
Yeah. We We'll just We'll just do that. We'll bug Lance and then Evan will come by and talk about how he has a great idea for an expansion and it'll be good.
I love this plan for us.
I just You just think it all works. Just Yeah, whatever. Yeah, it works exactly as I think it does.
Apparently, that's how it works.
Um,
so the turd is gone right now. Do we have another Do we have another uh uh initials?
That's a lot of initials.
Uh,
the turd is gone.
No, I don't have We're not going to do initials.
Yeah, I'm running out of steam.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean it's late as hell for you guys. I'm getting tired myself, but
we should do our after hours if we're going to
Oh, yeah. I do want to hear the story.
Um, yeah, I want to hear the story, too. I didn't know anything about this project.
All right. Well, everybody, have a good night. Thanks for watching.
Go back, Luna Rush. I'm being a good brother.
Back the Go back it. Back it again. That's right.
Good night everybody.
If you haven't put in at least a dollar, what are you doing?
Yeah, be good to yourselves.
