The Dice Tower May 14, 2026
Transcript 34:40

Good morning everybody. Welcome to Dice Tower News. I'm Tom Vasel.

I'm Zee Garcia.

I'm Joy Evans. Let's start by doing some shout outs. Shout outs. For our Gamefound backers. Let it on out.

I want to say thanks to the Ferndale Fourway Blood Bowl League. Yeah. What? To Richard T. Saunders, to the Brunner family from Durham, North Carolina. Durham. To Ground Zero. Basketball. Sheri Lowe. To John Albertson and Simon and Casper Jacobson. Simon and Casper. Thank you all for Thank you.

supporting us at our Gamefound. And if you would like to support the Gamefound, it's still the late pledge is open. So you just go to supportdicetower.com. Oh. Um, other than that, let's get started in the news.

Let's talk about some news. We've got some good stuff. All right. So first of all, Dice Tower East, if you were um, that's always going to be news until we come. I I I wanted to note that July 5th is 2 months away. Mhm. I know. So close.

2026 already? Crazy hurts. That number doesn't make sense to me. In my mind, when somebody says in the year 2026, that's still the future. Yeah. Mostly cuz the next sentence is cyborgs have taken over the streets of New York City. I I have the comics from 2099 and I'm like, man, my grandkids will be like, what were they thinking?

I already know it's not that stupid.

2099.

Remember those? I was like a big But it still is or not? There is a website what up the shades, man, tells you all the movies, future movies and where they are in the timeline and so

yeah.

in the Terminator times yet, are we?

Oh, we're way past it. We blew way past that already. I mean, it all happened when we passed 1989. That's true.

And the author was like, Yeah. It's done.

Oh, well. Have you ever seen a movie called Class of 1999? No. It's a terrible movie, but it's so wrong.

Anyway, Dice Tower is Come and join us there. We have some cool games.

We keep adding new games to it. All the very positive reviews of games we've done in the last few weeks. All those games will be there and more. Yep. Um let's see. Oh, Gen Con. The Gen Con map was released. Here it is. See the little red dot? That's us.

That's us. 249 is our booth. Uh we are right next to Cephalofair Mhm. and right across the aisle from Bezier Games. So, if you're going to go try out that game makers game, you might as well say hi to us. And you can you can go right to it from there.

We're next to Bezier. Bezier is next to us. We're in the A We're in the ha of Hall K. Ha 249. Hala. Um also, if the events are live, so if you'd like to come to Dice Tower Awards, that'd be a fun event for you. Check it out. Mhm. All right. Um so, in our It seems like this is happening every week now. In sad news, Ken Tidwell Tidwell, sorry, has passed away. And you probably don't know him, but he's almost like a direct descendant of BoardGameGeek. He ran the GameCabinet, which I was showing you a shot of here. And this is what I looked for when I first started playing the new modern games. Um, this was a place where you could go and basically find English rule sets for German games because they had no English rules. This was it.

This was back in the days where it was definitely games did not just come out in English as a matter of course when they were German. They could be years, it could never come. Huh. And people would play with paste-ups on their cards. Tom knows what I'm talking about. Yeah, originally came from articles that they had written. There was a magazine called Sumo from Mike Sumo. And they'd written that and so they started putting stuff onto this. Yep. Um, came around 90 94. That's a very early website. And it got bigger and bigger. And honestly, the thing that kind of got rid of this was BoardGameGeek came and kind of took over what this was. But yep, so we appreciate what Ken did. Yeah. In very surprising news to me, Osprey announced on their Facebook page that they are selling their board and card game line.

Um, so Osprey Games, you might think, oh, they only board games? No, they used to and still do a bunch of war game or war books.

Mhm. I used to go to um, Origins, I mean, Gamma Trade Show. And Osprey would show up and they'd be like, we're going to do a press thing. And it was all about these books and I was like, this isn't games. And then they started doing games. Um,

And you were like, this isn't books.

I do like the books. I just was kind of surprised they were there. So, they are still planning to do, I think, some war games. I'm not sure where some of their games are going to fall in this especially the light war games like where those will fall

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly like that. Sure. I'm in fact we're reviewing one of their games this week Rattlesnake. A nice little two-player card game. Right. So, they are looking for a new home for these games. So, I feel like this is a call for who wants to buy us. And they still do have some things coming out to be clear. They'll be at the UKGE I believe is what they said. They'll have a booth there. Um They have some games still about to hear or that just hit threaded. Rattlesnake.

Towers we just reviewed.

Yeah. So, these games are still available and some of them about to come out. They're just saying no new applications of games. No new um what is that? What's the word for that? Submissions, you know. They're not publishing anything that they already don't have in the pipeline. All right. Uh then the opposite here Greater Than Games is back. So, this is kind of a weird thing. So, Greater Than Games showed up 15 years ago or so at Gen Con with a very back of the hall in a small 10 by 10 booth selling Sentinels OF THE MULTIVERSE. YEAH.

WHICH became a pretty big hit. It did.

And they started growing. They didn't really ever have another big game beyond that. Um until they came out with Spirit Island. And then that game did incredibly

Than Games? Yeah. I think so.

Yeah. Oh, I didn't know that. Um and then they got bought. As all good companies do and then they were sold to and then they were kind of disbanded. But now the original people Chris Badell and Paul Bender have it back along with the Sentinels of the Multiverse IP. IP. Yeah, they were purchased by Handelabra I believe is the company and they are a uh They're a developer of of of apps if I'm not mistaken. I think it's what Handelabra is. Okay. They make apps. They I guess had enough capital and interest to purchase this and bring everybody back on. And so I'm guessing they'll start making things again now under Greater Than Games.

they did the Sentinels app? Cuz Sentinel I assume so, but I'm guessing. Sentinels app killed the game for me cuz it did all that math for me. Right. So

I know they had a follow-up edition of Sentinels that helped with that. I don't know if you ever played that.

I saw it come out.

That one's definitely better. Is it? They definitely are still making some new games. We have Digital Detox. Digital Detox.

probably important to do. Um this is a three to eight player game from Christopher Badell. Uh 15 to 30 minutes. So I like they're like in this analog party game. I hope so.

yeah, yeah, yeah.

That sounds really neat. It kind of sounds like a card shedding game. I'm not sure exactly how it is. Sort of like a party game. A little take that. You're You're sticking other people with memes and cat videos and stuff. Um But it sounds like a shedding game. It's actually a brilliant theme

Yeah, that is. for a shedding game. The person who is who has detoxed all of the memes and stupid things that you see on the internet wins first That's pretty fun.

out of those cards. That's fantastic theming. That is really, really good. And me sticking you with something wastes your time. Uh I like that a lot. I don't know what kind of game it is, but I love the the implementation there.

The opportunities, the artwork, and the parodies and stuff like that is going to be great.

to be good. Yeah.

Would anyone else in the chat like to make a joke about this game into an app? No? We have enough? Okay, moving on. All right, then we have Crime Scene Tamperer.

This sounds fun. Well, this is based on the Homestar um IP. Well, it's from

Homestar? Homestar Runner. It's from the two people that invented that. Really? And I got to be honest, I thought this was no longer a thing. This was like early internet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right.

Memes stuff. I haven't seen it in a while, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I just I haven't It hasn't crossed my path. And did you ever watch that stuff? Chris loves it. I I I I I do not.

these, shorts or something? Yeah, it's like little animated shorts, goofy, you know, kind of in the style of like the the the Trogdor one and all that stuff. It's not stuff

eskimo

cut animation type thing? Okay.

Yeah, it's kind of like that. I've never seen it very much. I've seen moments of it. Um but anyway, it's from the people that invented that, Homestar Runner. And it is about criminals that are terrible at being criminals and you're trying to like you left the scene, I guess, a mess and you're trying to like spin it to other people while the person investigating is just monologuing completely grandstanding.

I like the theme of this. I do not love that cover at all, actually.

You don't think it's a mask with sunglasses? That's great. I think the theme is that the cover is supposed to be the guy, the wrestling mask, Homestar Runner guy, with the glasses from like the CSI?

Yeah, CSI like I think it's supposed to be that bit.

[gasps]

I don't know. I think it's funny. I think it's funny.

the theme. No nothing about the game. All right. I think it'll be great. It We're now just at the point

This IP has legs.

Companies Companies are now realizing that they're going to take every popular video game and turn them into board games because it's working. Whether the games are good or not, they're going to sell. This is from Manic. Huh? To be fair, Plants vs. Zombies already kind of felt like a board game in many ways.

Yeah, it's a bit of a tower defense game. I played it for a while. I finally got into it, but It was pretty fun at first.

It's the that you know, constant pushing you to pay for stuff and add buy more. Oh, there's a new flower.

They really like this game invited a lot of those kinds of games that were really predatory. This one did it a bit, but you could just you could just play this game. I played the second one. It does it Oh, it does it a ton. Only there's 800 different flowers I can get. Yeah, I bet they did.

Oh, but I can only get like five of them. I played the original a decent amount, and it was good, but then they like every game that came out after made made the tower defense part faster, made you flash more things at you, made you pay more money. Yeah, it's it invited a really like awful trend, but I like the original game. It got a It felt like a board game. I hope this is good. This is coming from Mantic Games, and their stuff is usually okay at best. They did the Worms game, which wasn't terrible. It's silly nonsense. Of course, so is Worms. Um so, I can hope so. This is one to four cooperative game. And that's another thing. It's It's going to be tricky turning these games that are cooperative games I mean that are single player game. Right. Right, I agree.

game. Slay the Spire did it. It did.

this one can do it, too. They obviously have the OG artwork, and those are the some of the main flowers are in the cover, so. And the guy with the pan on his head. I like I like that guy. Yeah, he's like the main character of Plants vs. Zombies. I don't remember

to defend his backyard, yeah. So good. Anyway, when is this coming out? Oh, it's going to be a Kickstarter campaign. So, you'll see it in two or three years. All right. Grant Lyon, you may know him. He does comedy. He's done it at both Dice Tower West, Dice Tower East. He has also done it at the Dice Tower Awards. Yep. Uh so, he started a new YouTube show that's going to be dropping an episode every other Wednesday, and he just but finds a bunch of comedians and plays board games with them. So, it's called It's All Funny and Games. I have not yet watched it. I keep I mean I went to when I was in a place where I couldn't I couldn't listen to it out loud.

I through it, and seemed like it's quality. I haven't played

to be checking it out myself. Yeah, but I have not been able to to see it yet.

scrolled through it. You're like, I want to watch comedians but without the jokes.

Oh, I agree. I have to mute. Like, what's so funny? Why are they all laughing? Got it. Speaking of which, Dice Tower Awards, those drop the tickets drop this Sunday. So people should get the Dice Tower Awards tickets. Oh, it's this Sunday? They're not already out?

No, no. So this Sunday. So Dice Tower

I should You would know when Gen Con events are.

It does sell out pretty quick. All righty. Teburu has announced a bunch of new things. If you don't know what Teburu is, it is the big giant board. Do we have one? I'll try. No, we we played a prototype version of it. And then we played one of their games, which they have a follow-up, which we'll talk about in a second. It So they had a very rocky start. They originally were partnering with CMON and were going to do Zombicide, which was huge. They had it at Gen Con one year. You could even go and mess with it. Remember that?

But it was almost like they were playing it in a room with a window you could look in the window and watch them play. It was a big deal. Then they Whatever happened with CMON and then they're like, "Ah, we got our own game. That's not the same." Right. Right. Agree. Right. That was yeah, one of these games. Um

So they Yeah, it's a big electronic board basically and you play on it and it informs the game by having electronic components.

Each of their Kickstarters Each of their Kickstarters that they do, they've been selling the board for almost nothing. Yeah, the electronic component. Yeah, cuz they want to they want to get that going, right?

I don't know many people who own it. Do you know anybody who owns it?

I don't know anyone who owns it, but there's a possibility like someone like, "Well, you know me and I own it." And I don't I didn't know that they owned it, right? Yeah. Um Anyway, Hawks Fall is one of the ones coming. Containment has failed and it's a cooperative it's a Zombicide. No, it's They're all kind of Zombicide-esque to be fair, but that's the game the kind of game that fits well on Teburu, I think.

Yeah. This is the one we played, the Bad Karmas and the Curse of Cthulhu. Yeah, so when we played it, I felt fairly confused the whole time. It was like we moved somewhere and you fought and they were like, "This is what happens." You're like, "Cool." Oh, really?

Yeah, but maybe it's gotten better since then. Huh. Yeah, it was early. We played it early for sure and it was before all this Cthulhu stuff. Clearly by now it's volume What's it say? Volume six for goodness sake. They have a lot of this stuff. Yeah. Um So, I'm assuming it's a lot stronger now. It wasn't one of their earliest if not technically the first one and I'm sure by now they've developed it quite a bit. It's interesting. It's a good, you know, kind of game with miniatures running around fighting. It's cool. Then Vampire the Masquerade. So, this is a pretty big IP for them to snag.

This one we saw crowdfunding campaign for and it it looked like a sprawling game. Bigger than bigger than the card

that whole IP. Yeah. And then the one I'm most interested in, Black Rose Wars Resonance here. This is um another version. I don't know how I don't know if this is just Black Rose done again. Black Rose, if you never played it, is sort of a free-for-all majors running around casting spells at each other, but you you can upgrade your spells, get really powerful spells. It's actually very similar to like a first-person shooter, that Adrenaline game Oh, yeah. Is it real time? It's not real time. No, no, no. Neither is Adrenaline, but um No, but you're taking turns. You're moving around.

also has hexes that you got to activate abilities on the hexes, right?

room you go into has a special ability. You get these different [clears throat] spells. You can be like, "I'm going to try attack I'm going to try fire spells this turn." And all kinds of things. It's fun. It was a little more complicated than I'd want it to be. Like it's a little bit too many Like I have to remember what room I'm in, plus what the cards do. But I enjoyed it. It's been also almost a decade since I played it.

good fit for Taboo if it takes some of that mental load off.

Does this take away a lot of bookkeeping? Yeah, ideally. Yeah. Black Rose is one of those games that I found very interesting but very demanding. The cards are double-sided. There's a lot. Every room is different. There's a lot. If this takes some of that mental load off, this could be a great fit.

So, like Jacob said, Wiz-War, it's like a advanced Wiz-War type thing. Yes. I Yeah, I guess that's It's not as chaotic as Wiz-War, but yes. Uh and Jacob says that GB GB has one or doesn't have one. He backed the vampire one, but that's not out yet.

bring it in. GB will play it. All right. In That's a good cover.

In sequels of I was not expecting this.

No kidding.

I remember when the first game came out called Abraca the What, which I argued back then and still argue now is a terrible name. Yes. Um it was, I believe, from Korean Board Games originally, and Z-Man Games picked it up. And I played it, and it was a fine little game. It just had such a dumb name. But not dumb enough, apparently, cuz now we have Abraca the Who. To be fair, it's only Abraca the Who.

the Who. Which it should have originally been. It should have been Abraca What, not Abracadawhat. I think we said that in the review, but

I hope I did. And Abraca Who is a better title? Question mark. It's slightly better, I mean.

Abraca Who?

Yeah, it's slightly better. Uh but it's a similar kind of idea where you're It's a deduction. They both have deduction elements. You need to figure out something about yourself in order to win. That's one of those games where you don't know what you have. Um everyone else does, and so you're work figuring it out. I don't know. I Korean Board Games have been So, it's Headbandz.

doing pretty well lately.

a whole line. Abraca What, Abraca Who, Abraca Where. Abraca Why. And then the time-traveling extravaganza, Abraca When. Ooh, I like that.

Right? All right. Abraca Why Gamora. So, in very weird news. So, this is an odd one here. Mood Swings. So, the Mark Rosewater Is that his name, right? Mark Rosewater. Yeah. So, you might not know who he is if you're in the board game a world, but if you are a Magic the Gathering player, you know who he is because he is probably the most important person in Magic the Gathering history, even more so than the designer Richard Garfield.

How dare you? Richard Garfield designed Magic the Gathering and everything, and then he kind of backed away from it, and they kept designing it. And Magic the Gathering almost died in the early 2000s. And Mark Rosewater came in and led the developing team and has done a pretty good job He has.

other than the jumping the shark in the last few years of every IP. But, he really brought it back to where it's it just gets bigger every year, right? So, people know him very well for this. He has a very good talk on game design. If you ever get a chance, I I highly recommend it It's a TED Talk type thing, right? It's like a TED Talk on how to design games, and I I I really enjoy it. That being said

Uh-oh, here it comes.

I believe

Every time you say that you're about to just shift everything. Yeah, but I'm excited. They're going to body slam this guy, right? That being said he has enough power apparently at Wizards of the Coast to do whatever he wants and because this is a clearly uh I want to do whatever I want project.

Yes, it is. Yes, it is. That's Mark Rosewater. You don't tell Mark Rosewater no. This is being released as a Secret Lair, which is their one of the ways they release Magic the Gathering mini sets. Wait, is this This is not in

Magic the Gathering, but they're releasing it in the same thing.

Gathering. It's not compatible with Magic the Gathering. It is being put out from the company that makes Magic the Gathering through Magic the Gathering's delivery system, i.e. Secret Lair. Something you go on a website and you buy when they release, and you sit there refreshing, probably sells out, you overpay for them. Yeah.

Because because they he's looking for them in value. They're the ones that came to his house, and his mom opened up. She She She ripped the actual Magic the Gathering boxes open cuz she was like, "That's just a box." She devalued the crap out of it.

I saw Kenny mad at his own mother. Have you ever heard from his mom again? No one has. Um So But yeah, this is a little card game. Has nothing to do with Magic the Gathering. It kind of to me, I saw him play with some underling at Wizards, I guess. And it kind of seemed like mind bug a little bit. It's a little mind buggy. Okay. Yes, but here's what blows my mind. There's a new little card game he created called Mood Swings, and it's about mood swings, whatever. There's 133 cards that in this game. But not in the one you buy. You're getting 45 random cards. They're selling it like Magic the Gathering. There are 48 commons, 40 commons, 30 rares, and 15 mythic rares in a card game that's not a collectible card game.

It's just this. I It blows my mind. I When I first heard about this, I thought "Oh, he's using his power to publish a little game." Yes. No, he's publishing a little collectible card game.

That that is the That is the exact moment I stopped reading the copy. When I got to the TCG thing, I I was I was like, "I'm out." So I I thought you guys would talk about that.

Are you going to buy one, Joey? No, I'll play yours, though. I'm going to buy one. I'm sure. Tom's going to get two. Yeah, you're right. So So between the three of us The three of us? Uh yeah. There's three of us. We're going to have three copies. Tom will have two, I'll have one, okay? And I'll get you duplicates. I also worry because

I I'm hoping there are no duplicates. That'd be really crappy. Oh, in the actual box?

Yeah. I better get 45 different cards.

Yeah, I Cuz otherwise The game looked okay. It looked okay. It was a fun little card game.

designing this for 28 years, which always worries me because gaming has changed so much in 28 years.

Not all those cards.

That is never a I don't get that. I'm sorry. That is never the brag that you think it is. If you took 28 years to make a little 133 card card game, it's one of two things. You suck at it, right, and you should never do it, or your game is you you put in 3 minutes a week. You know what I mean? You haven't focused on it. It's not a brag. Say you did it in a year and then I'm like, "Oh, good job. Good job." My big hope with this is is that wonderful, wonderful part of Magic where I have a hand of no cards and I can do nothing This is for a stared Z. You can always play in this game. There's a little play through. I saw it. It's cute, but

But I don't know who this is appealing to necessarily. I'm I'm not going to Is he expecting people to go buy multiple copies? I think so, yeah.

they The way you guys talk we're going to play Mood Swings and we start playing and you're like, "Man, did you put the love card in here?" I'm like, "I don't have love." You're like, "Well, then why are we even playing?" Why we If that card's not in the set. Yeah, they're all moods. All the titles of the cards are moods.

know he's just going to sell them just because of what it is? I think so.

them based on his name and what it is. I I'll make the prediction this ain't going to go anywhere. I can't imagine.

think so, either. But it'll sell a lot. I'm going I kind of I'm I'm sort of planning to get one just cuz I'm kind of morbidly curious. Right. Are you going to open it? Yes, of course. I'm just saying. Apparently.

No, but the secret lairs like they did Godzilla for Magic the Gathering. So, they'd be like six cards and they'll charge you $40.

$40 for six cards. Yeah. And because then people will buy them because sometimes they go up in value like tremendously. Sometimes they don't. You're never sure. Wow.

It's They're not even tournament legal most of the time. Really?

Yes. It's goofy, man. It's It's It's one of Magic the Gathering's more blatant give us your money. We don't even care. Yeah, it's weird. All right. Um Wheel of Time. Remember the series? It finished. So, Wheel of Time, War of the Dragon. This is coming from Dire Wolf. Yeah, which made me excited.

That's cool. Yeah.

It's a two-player tableau building set collection area control mechanisms. I'm very interested in this. It's going to be hero mode and epic mode. Hero mode is new players. Epic mode, you're going to control massive armies. Um and it says the game modes will span the years from the Battle of the Two Rivers, which is in book uh four of the

four? Are you sure? It is. Okay. Um the Shadow Rising because that is my favorite of all the books in the entire

best one, right?

Yeah. Stop being a dork. No. I refuse.

You haven't read the series. Of course I haven't. I barely know how to read. the ending of book four, the Battle of Two Rivers is one of my favorite sequences in the Wheel of Time. And then the last battle, which was almost the entirety of the final book from Brandon Sanderson. Not as exciting because he had to somehow wrap up 2,000 characters in a book. There were some pretty great moments in it. Anyway, um nerd This sounds good though. Two-player only game. I like that.

Yeah. I don't know the IP, but I feel like I might get away with not knowing this IP because this this looks good and I'm sure it's going to be very captivating. They they know what they're doing over there at Dire Wolf, so

I mean, I played Dune long before I ever watched the movies. So. Yeah. Is the the big guy over there on the left, Tom, is that not a I'm guessing not a human? Yeah, his name is I don't know how to pronounce it. Don't get mad at me in the It's Loial. Um he's like a friendly, peaceful guy of of sorts. He's he travels with them cuz he's writing their history. He's like, "Ooh, what you doing? That's very interesting." Until he he has force of fight, then he's like, "I'm a monster." But he barely fights.

How old is he though? He is an Ogier. Oh, so what are the Ogiers? So, it's like a thing, it's like not a person. It's a creature.

another race. They're very, very peaceful people. Okay. All right, cool. They're very large.

And when you're in their camp, you can't use the Here's powers that all these magicians have. They're They're called acid heads. I lose my powers? Got it. Got Anyway. Would you like to know more? You got Kano over there on the side.

Good. I appreciate it. All right. The Golden Geek Award winners were announced. We're not going to go over all of them. We're just going to show off a few of them. So

One of these is not like the others. I know. I did that on purpose.

No kidding.

I forgot to put podcast on here, but Mike Delisio did not win again.

No, I mean At some point Those three, I can't imagine jumping from Toy Battle to Tag Team into Captain's Chair.

Well, Toy Battle won, so there you go. Light Game of the Year Yeah. which by the way is Let me jump to it. Here's Party Game of the Year. Here's Light Game of the Year. Notice any differences?

Oh. Wow. They're the same. Just about. This is also crazy. I was I was thinking to myself looking at the news here. I don't think CMYK will have another year like the one they just had. I mean, Hot Streak and Magical Athlete both in the same year. Both weirdly similar, by the way. I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to compete against yourself, but somehow these guys came out clean from this, and both of these games got tremendous amounts of love this year. They They must have sold these suckers like like pancakes.

I think so.

Yeah. Uh so, they have Light Game of the Year. They don't have a Single Game of the Year. They have three. Light

Right. is the medium. But they The middle one is the winner, right? Yeah. Yeah. Kind of Surprised by this? Well, I'm not sure I'd consider either Fate of the Fellship or Vantage medium games. This is definitely Board Game Geek's version of medium.

Yeah. And then heavy. There's big surprise here. I could have I could have called these three, I think, blindfolded. I agree. These three are the heavy games to get this year or the past, you know. This is no surprise.

favorite award I love this so much, is Wargame I know. So good. So good. So Battle of Hoth won Wargame of the Year with runner-up Um, what is that like? Cross Bronx Expressway from GMT, which isn't even really a wargame, but it's GMT, so it's fine. And then Toy Battle. Toy Battle is

fantastic. You know that the Grognard is having a

Oh, they're losing their mind. heart attack right now.

Wait, is this a GMT wargame in New York in the

It's a no, it's about graffiti. Oh, I mean it's Okay, I was like, oh, so it's a graffiti. Oh, wow.

We have it here. We haven't Yeah, go check it out, Joey. I just I'm so amused that Toy Battle is on this list. Funny. That's very, very funny. Yeah. It's about toy soldiers, so wargame? I guess. The stretchiest of stretches.

Also, the UK Games Expo, which is coming in 2 weeks, have announced their awards. You can see some of them there. I believe they have two awards that they give out at the convention. They give out the judges' choice, which they've already announced these winners, and then they'll do the people's choice there. Those are very good picks, I have to say. What is that best dice game?

I agree. Kriegs and Tricks, I don't know it. Which one? Best dice game.

Dice game is called Trick Kriegs and Tricks, and I don't know that one. That's the only one I have like no idea what that's about.

oddity of games over there. They This is probably the best selection they've ever done. The UK Games Awards have in the past been some pretty bad picks. So this is a pretty good selection. Yeah, it's a good good slate. Yeah. All right, a few more games to end today. Solstice Game Studios announced Six-Sided Seas. Say that six times fast. And also, that box definitely looks like uh I hope that's not the actual size of that box. That looks like a playmat, right? Yeah, I'm guessing that I'm guessing that maybe is a playmat. You roll it up and stick the dice in it. That's it.

But I I the concept of this. It's a push-your-luck dice game where players are going to roll to create workers for their ship and assign them to different stations. Two-player game, 15 to 20 minutes. It's coming out August 10th, so I guess Gen Con. I approve.

That's cool.

I like that a lot. Uh Fourth Wing. Uh this is We talked about this before. This is that weird I almost said fan fiction. But it basically is fan fiction. Anyway, this is about

what? Uh it's it's a book series called Fourth Wing about people who control They They They bond with dragons. You're saying it's fan fiction because it's similar to

Oh no, no, that cuz it it it it delves from a book about people bonding with dragons to um NC-17 softcore and then back to bonding with dragons again.

Oh. I'm not exaggerating. So anyhow, Okay. When is this available? It's

It's out now. I was reading the first novel. I'm telling you, I was like, "This is pretty interesting stuff." Okay, this is the one you were talking about.

guy broods a lot. Oh. Anyhow, so this is a This is the Uh they're going to be having two puzzles, a party game, an Exit game. Okay. And then this big box game coming from them. It's the first Exit game that instead of building it like this, you build it like this.

All right. And then finally, surprisingly from Cosmos, a Batman game. Yeah, this is cool. Though we're not sure it's coming out in English yet, to be fair, but it's That's a great cover and it is

it says cover Gotham City Crimes in the front. That's not Not in English. They said we don't know yet. I don't know. That's That's the latest. But I'm assuming it will come out in English if they can figure out the rights to all this. Uh But that's cool. It's tricky because Yeah, the you can easily get may Sometimes you can get an IP intellectual property rights overseas a lot easier. There's a lot of Star Wars games like Star Wars Carcassonne, which is a dumb game, but it's only available in Europe cuz the rights were never gotten here in America.

I'd like to play that, please.

It's in the library. Sweet.

And this is from the Star Wars Carcassonne. Yeah, it's not great, dude. You're not missing anything. This is from the designer of Andor, uh, Michael Menzel. You got to be pretty pumped about this.

Yeah, it's interesting. It's puzzly. It sounds like it's very puzzly.

Sounds a little bit like Legends of Andor, almost.

I assume it is. He's not made that many games. He made this, and he made the Robin Hood one, the Measure

Well, he's known for drawing. He's an artist. He's an artist. Like a visual artist.

That's a good cover.

not look like his style, though.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If it is, he's If that's his style, then he's really pivoted. But no, I'm assuming this is actually Batman artwork. Have we seen like a resurgence in DC related stuff recently, I think, more so than

I think so.

that the James Gunn era.

It's It's like the It's like the years of underdogs for IPs, because, you know, Star Wars reigned supreme for a while. Now Star Trek is like, "Excuse me. Yeah.

I'm here." And DC's like, "Oh, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they're doing SO WELL. WE'RE BACK, BABY."

I always say the best rises to top, so that's why Star Trek is more popular than DC is. Yeah, okay. I don't I don't care that much, you know.

care. Deep down, you care. I'm going to get lectured as soon as this camera goes off.

Awakens was the best. He's going to be so

Spider-Man going to beat Batman. All right. Anyway, that, folks, is the news. Thanks for watching. I'm Tom. I'm Zee. I'm Joey Evans. See you next time. Swish, swish. Swish, swish, I said. Cut it now. Don't leave me hanging like this.
