welcome back to another crowd control it's been a while since we had gone I was gone you were gone I'm I was going I'm still getting over jet legs so bad that Ryan had to knock on my bedroom door to wake me up he broke into my house he came back and knocked on my door he'd been sitting out here waiting for 20 minutes saying is David dead on the floor I was worried I mean you know what I wasn't my my internal clock is just messed up yeah I mean you were 12 hours off Japan is like 12 hours off almost so yeah but it's been a while since I have really really little excuse to have slept but I I slept late yeah but welcome back and welcome back to crowd uh crowd control now the downside you being gone we did we missed a lot of cool stuff did unfortunately like dice Throne we like that's already done so that was a huge campaign so there's quite a few that are running right now stuff that we missed that we might talk about online or maybe in a future episode we will talk about them in a future episode but they're all doing most of those are doing well lands of ever evershade just launched World Order which we have content for a lot of these pry well a lot of good crowdfunding going and we might have gone back and talked about some of the stuff we missed if this wasn't another gigantic launch week this is a big week it's crazy are you getting tired of us saying this is a big week I this September October November this whole set of it's we said it was going to be big and we were not wrong I don't want to go on well I will I'll go on record I do think that this last like few months of 2024 Maybe some of the biggest crowdfunding board gaming months ever I

mean outside of a few like big big big ones but I mean we've had cyberpunk this year which was massive but so many other big games releasing all on top of each other I don't know when it's going to end uh but it's not ending this by Christmas usually holidays they kind of they know you're spending money in other places we'll see we'll have our campaign running up over the holidays hopefully our campaign will be the only campaign running in the month of December that's not true I know of some early December campaigns all right anyway this week we've got some things launching the first one is vestage if you haven't heard of this this is the next one from Orange nebula people who make Vindication make unsettled uh this one is a lot like Vindication yeah um I did some digging though and they've actually had their preview page up that's pretty much their page page up for a little bit now so there's a lot of information out there if you want to dig into it go ahead and go check that out if it's still pre-campaign right now uh but is launching this week and it has a lot of the same mechanisms I it in many ways seems like not uh Vindication almost 2.0 yeah I would almost call it that almost 2.0 plus it's set in a completely different setting this is not a sequel to Vindication new theme sci-fi theme now sci-fi cyber Punky sort of theme um I wanted to focus in on one of the aspects that is pretty unique that I actually got on the phone with him and talked about the other day and it's called the Nemesis system there's going to be if you're familiar with Vindication as you go around the board it has those uh sort of revealed

endgame trigger cards that this game has that too but with the Nemesis system and you can play with one Nemesis and you can use the Nemesis in Co-op solo and Co-op uh competitive games but you could use a number of Nemesis in fact on the phone I don't know that they're officially going to say this but on the phone they said you could play a six-player game with also six nemeses that sounds insane but the nemeses aren't like AI players at first glance you're going to think oh is that just an AI player it's not an AI player at all but uh they're going to have a card that sits out that has a unique flavor and this is where it makes it almost kind of feel unsettled esque in that each game can feel wildly different but this Nemesis says okay this game this is how some things work yeah changes the rules a little changes the rules a little add new layers to the rules but each Nemesis pack is also going to have a bunch of threat cards that get put out I don't know exactly how but kind of in those same spots that the endgame trigger cards go out so they affect the game that way too with almost what sounded like event type situations where that happens it gets revealed and it can have drastically different things that happen to all the players that tie in thematically to what that Nemesis is all about like some of the examples they gave me is like you know putting bounties out on people and stuff like that not players but different characters that you all have um and then on top of that all the different decks of cards that you're collecting in the game those the nemesises the nemesises

the nemeses might have cards uh some amount of cards that actually get shuffled into a lot of those decks again so that as you're playing naturally you're seeing some stuff that's relevant specifically to the that's a huge update it's very interesting it definitely it sounds like it takes the game and makes it feel incredibly fresh every time you play it and you might find combinations of nemeses that are like oh that's how's that going to work that's going to be interesting but anyway I'm looking forward to this I'm looking forward to it too I love V we're big fans of vindication Vindication for me I think it's pretty high up in my top 10 um so we'll see how vestage does vestage come in and just replace that does it sit alongside it will for you just for the them alone alone right so the one I want to talk about now I want to talk about this because they're doing something that uh maybe has been done before I have never I have never seen this done before but I want to talk about waste of parts and the this is from Sky Kingdom games and the reason that I'm uh talking about this next uh it's a cool game anyway but they're launching on the same day as vestage and they're working together and again this is a cross uh cross company promotion that I they're working together if you back one if you back vestage you're going to get a free expansion for waste of parts and if you back waste of Parts you're getting a free expansion for vestage which again I have not seen that kind of collaboration before it is really cool and it goes hand in hand with both of

these companies but in particular orange nebula they're all about sort of like a rising tide lifts all sh sort of thing you know and uh they work together with Sky Kingdom games to do this and they're calling it's like a comic book crossover uh even thematically the two different little mini expansion type things they some Concepts over feel like they're Salvage and they're scrap and now it must be said these things are also still available they're not making it so you have to back the other thing to get but you do get them for free which is kind of a cool thing and now only do you get them for free you can buy just the one but if like if you don't have waste of parts and if you have are not preparing for that having that crossover pack is cooler if you have both games because you're like oh I get to see the different whatever we're not promoting that I just think it's a cool idea if you just get one of the games you're going to have an expansion for a game you don't own so well yeah and so waste of Parts uh is cool on it in its own right this game is giving me TL Vibes for sure we've not played this one uh but I have looked over it and if you remember that you're kind of piloting a ship as it goes through space well in this you are piloting a Mech as it goes through the waste of Parts which is where all the scrap has fallen and you're trying to survive through this by using this interesting action selection system where each player's crew you've got rooms that you're moving to you've got cards that you're playing you've got upgrades and you're crafting and salvaging and all the stuff that you'd expect from that style of game but it's all done via this action selection system where you get a limited number of action points and it is cooperative as

well so you've got these you know character powers that you're leaning into your asymmetric abilities for who is doing what on this giant Mech and the mech itself is basically this board where you can interact with it and play cards and stuff it has a very very cool uh look to it I don't want to say steampunk because it really it's more like industrial yeah industrial Punk maybe the you know maybe like the whole theme reminded me of like battle Angel uh oh battle Angel Alita Alita uh with stuff falling from the sky yeah it's like this world where they've turned the junk into this giant Mech and it's just like plotting through it's very very appealing Jeremy also I think is going to have some content on this game I know you going to have to have him bring it down because I want to give this one a try so we'll all get a chance to see it very soon if not on the campaign yeah the next one we want to talk about is one that we're going to have content on the channel for depending when you're watching this we'll have this up it is Defenders of the realm this is they call this I think the Legends Edition this is the new edition of Defenders of the realm if you're not familiar Defenders of the realm is sort of an old classic Cooperative game yeah like this been around for a while with that said if you look up Defenders of the realm and look at the old box and the way the game looks it looks a little it needs it needs an update it looks a little dated um and that's what they did here now they did so much more though this game looks completely different and I will say this I I I dig the way this new one

looks I do think the artwork is going to be some people might like it it might be divisive it's got this kind of I always call cool cartoony look to it it's cartoony but it doesn't look overly childlike it almost looks Penny arcades a little I like that art style I do too uh it's really fun um but the gameplay itself has also been updated you're doing a lot more in this game than you did in Defenders realm and you're doing it in a different way the biggest difference sort of after you've played it overall I think the first thing people are going to say is in Defenders of the realm kind of like the original one uh in pandemic when things would explode and get bad they would kind of like Branch out in this one there's a big castle in the middle and all of the things it feels more Tower defy so instead of exploding out everything is moving in along these channels towards the castle tower defense so it it makes the overall experience feel more Tower Defense less traditional Cooperative like pandemic and things like that oh it looks cool and it looks really cool a lot of cool Miniatures um massive at least the Prototype we had massive table pre presence we didn't have a full-fledged board we had this big scroll that we

unscrolling uh over the next week too this is revenue it uh this is coming from mind clash games I was a huge fan of void fall uh that was one of my favorite games of the Year this is set in that same world but what's interesting about this game is it it super super Zooms in what's happening in void fall fall so if you familiar with the story of that game it's these void fall Falls these these aliens or this this corruption whatever has appeared and like aliens are coming in and blowing everything up and you're fighting back against them but in this game you you are taking on the role of like one worldship that is trying to escape them so it almost has like a little bit of a Battlestar Galactica vibe to it in that you are fleeing these uh void Falls and you have to kind of take actions to protect your ship you're taking actions in the form of sending out ships to fight to send out drop ships to explore the nearby planets to upgrade the Revenant itself which is the ship you're on but it's all done through this worker placement mechanic but the real like cool part that the hook is that there's all these different houses that exist within the Revenant like kind of tying into the major houses of of void fall you are kind of allying with them in a very specific way this is not a Cooperative game because only one person will win even though you all are trying to protect your ship and make your ship better you're taking actions on behalf of some of the different houses and as you do your reputation with that house is moving up and you can also take actions to increase the

strength of the house and at the end of the game your score score is your reputation times their power so you're in the situation where it's like well David's at full reputation with this house maybe we should all be hurting them and trying to knock their power down so that David doesn't get a ton of points but it does sound like one of those things where you too could have high reput I'm gonna ride the shirt tals right David's David's really working on this faction I'm going to try to get to the top of this faction and you're doing all that while trying to protect the the ship so it is it's a worker placement game very very different from void fall but I love that they do take a lot of the same thematic uh ideas and even the iconography you're going to recognize a lot of the same iconography although it's handled in a different way it does I think make for a pretty seamless transition into uh Revenue would you say uh a lighter game than void ball I mean lighter than void is about as heavy as you this is still a pretty mediumweight game like this is this is a big it's not a light game by any means no it's it's a big game and there is quite a bit going on that you're going to have to manage but it it's very cool yeah so those are the four massive campaigns that are all launching this week there's probably even others that we're not mentioning here let us know in the comments below if you think we've missed one and what you think about these campaigns until next time though make sure everyone has fun at the table and we'll see you then
