I recently spent a week with my brother and his three kids, age 17, 13, and nine. We played a lot of board games together. Here is what everybody thought of the different games we played. I think the most popular game with everybody was probably the new version of Guillotine. This is a card game I have loved for a long time. One of the games that got me into sort of the modern hobby of board games. And this new version comes with all of this fun updated exaggerated artwork. Uh we played the little tin game Bookshelf. This is a dexterity game where you are trying to stack uh books and cards and build a bookshelf and we liked it but we never won once. Uh so we played it maybe three or four times and we lost every time. We also played the little um the 10 game Spaghetton. Uh, this is another dexterity game where you're kind of putting a bunch of spaghetti in the tin and then using tweezers to pull it out.
I will say my 9-year-old nephew really loved this game. This was definitely one for him. He asked to play it over and over and over and over. We played this one a bunch of times. They really liked this uh this party game called Jinx O. Uh this is like you write uh answers to categories on this 3x3 grid that you have. This is a definitely a good party game. I'm going to make more content about this one. Uh my niece, my 13-year-old niece really prefers cooperative games overall. And so we played That's You, which is a very social cooperative game. It's like uh get to know your friends and family better. What the sketch? This one didn't go over as well. It's it's a drawing game, but it's really easy. Like, you know, I'm playing with a nine-year-old and other kids, and I don't think we ever got one wrong. I don't think we ever uh made it to the end of a timer.
So, another one I definitely, my brother and I went to a World Cup game and we brought this one with us to just play like while we were waiting for the game to start and uh neither of us enjoyed it. So, Keshi was an interesting one because I played this with my brother and my 9-year-old nephew, and my nine I was worried it would be too much strategy for my 9-year-old nephew, and we certainly had to help him out at times. He loved the game, and he won. And I think my brother thought the game was really interesting, but was also frustrated that he was losing to his 9-year-old. Samageddon here. This is a game made by high schoolers in the Pacific Northwest. It's a simple game where you're rolling some dice, trying to overcome challenges, trying to, you know, uh, keep the most salmon cards.
You don't want your salmon cards to die throughout the game. And, uh, and this was one like my 13-year-old and and nine-year-old niece and nephew both really liked. Uh, asked to play it multiple times. They really enjoyed it. So yeah, we had a fun time playing games
