Top 10 New Hottest & Most Popular Board Games Right Now JUNE 2026
Transcript
It's time for the hottest board games of the month. We will take those board games, show them how they're played, and then we're going to rank them in our top 10 hottest board games list of the month and you know how excited are we to play them. So, let's start with the 10 hottest game this month, which is Shug. I don't know what shug means, but I don't know what shug is. Is this little creature right there. In Shug, you're trying to do exactly that. You're trying to find the shug and bring him to this right here, tavern or pub. Bring the shug to the pub. You do that by rolling these dice right here and moving around the board and trying to figure out if any of these stones. Hide the shug. When you finally find the shug, woohoo, you'll feel happy and try to bring it to the pub to win the game. But not everything is as easy as you think because the game comes with a lot of different cards that will help you mess with the other players. You can play these cards to try to mess with other players, making their turns harder. But also, you can get these little friends right here. That will help you, except you can only become their friend if you're going to do the task that they want you to do. For example, drink a lot of water and then not spit it out for 30 seconds. Uh cuz everyone's going to make you laugh. And then you're going to say, "What? Drink water and hold in my mouth.
What type of game is this?" That's a very good question and I'm glad you asked it. I would say that this is a game where you take Talisman and then add a party game to it and this is what you get. But let's see how high I would rank this game and how excited I am to play it. So, I'm kind of scared. I mean, I love these brave game designs where you have this wild theme with mix of mechanisms that shouldn't work but sometimes do. So, I'm going to cautiously place it somewhere in the middle. I'd really like to play it, but I'm scared. Let's move on to the hottest game number nine on our list, which is Kubano. Not a lot of pictures exist except the cover. Well, the cover is the only picture that exists, but Kubano is based on an older game called Kuba. Da da da da da da da.
Cuba is a Euro game where in Cuba you are building your little plot of land. You are playing cards and you are trying to influence the government. How does that work in a Euro game? Let's start with the cards. Each player has the same roll cards and on your turn you will pick one of those and play it. And that will let you build buildings, sell uh goods to get money, different kind of things. And each player has the same five cars, so you can do any action you want, as long as you already haven't played it this round. Let's take a look at your little plot of land in Cuba. Here it is. You can grow different kind of goods. You can build buildings, but remember, if you build a building, then the good that you built on top of is gone. So, plan carefully. Remember I said you can influence the government?
Well, how that works in this game is when you play all your roll cards, they have influence numbers and then you can also bid some money and the ones who bid the most and have the most influence will decide which acts or laws will be implemented in the game. For example, from now on the worker only gets one product instead of two usually. So that might mess with other players and you maybe you're in a better situation and you want that law. So, it will change the game, which is quite unique and I haven't seen in many games since Cuba. I have played the old version of Cuba quite a bit quite a while ago. How excited I am to try the new version. Let's go rank it. Kubano. Kubano brings back some sweet, sweet memories. Mr. Cy, kick in the nostalgic tune.
And nostalgia is a powerful powerful feeling. So, that makes me want to play the new version of Kuba a lot. Hopefully, it's good. Number eight on the hotness list this month is Lightning Train. Why is Lightning Train exciting? Because it's by the same designer as Dune Imperium, which is one of my top 10 games of all time. In Lightning Train, you are building trains, creating routes between cities, and scoring points. And yes, remember I said it's by the same designer as Dun Imperium. Of course, this is also a bag builder, aka deck builder. You will have your own bag. You will place tokens into that bag and then draw those tokens and place them on your board. Sounds pretty exciting. You will place those tokens right here on the board and use those tokens for different actions. For example, you can use money to buy new tiles. You will use these train tiles to put them on the board and connect the cities. And yes, they are gone. So, you want to get more and more train tiles to put into your bag. When placing the train tiles on the board, like here, you are trying to connect cities, scoring points for those. Also, there are goods on the board that you want to deliver to cities that request those goods, scoring points. Each time you use somebody's tray line, for example, all of these are purples. And if anybody uses those, he gets points.
So, you want to be the first on the board and be in the strategic positions on the board. Sounds cool, right? How exciting. Let's go rank lighting train in our top 10 hottest list. And by our mean it's mostly mine now because Giannis is on vacation. So, I can do anything I want with this list. And I'll just rank it like we usually do. Lightning train arrived like a lightning. And I don't know, will it stay here? Does lightning stay? It doesn't stay. It just strikes and it's gone. Never mind. Let's move on. How excited I am to play this. I love deck builders. I love this designer games Clank and June Imperium. So, will he be three for three with me? I guess there's only one way to find out. Number seven on our list this month is Wondrous Creatures. Why is it suddenly hot? Well, we have that game and we have also the reason why it's hot right here in the studio. Let me show you. Have you ever wanted to travel to an island and catch Pokemon? I mean, sorry, uh, wondrous creatures you can in this game. You'll be sending your crew members out to collect resources to catch these gorgeous Pokémon. Each turn, you will send out your crew members to either collect resources or collect creature cards that you can play out later. The main goal of the game, of course, is to play as many wondrous creatures as you can. They will give you points. They'll give you abilities and also need them for scoring achievements. For example, for this achievement, I need six or more
of the same habitat. This is the habitat icon right here. Reason number one why this game is in hotness right now is the Winterfall expansion that is coming out this year. The expansion will introduce a whole new board, new captains, new achievements, new wondrous creatures, new resources, new tiles, and a whole new Winterfell mechanic where the board will change from round to round depending on the Winterfall card you have. Reason number two is, no pun included, created a wonderful review for this game. We know what they think, but what do we think about this game? Let's go rank it. Wondrous Creatures. We actually have a review of this that we did way back when and we really, really liked it. Do we still really like it? Yes, we do. And the expansion makes me want to get back into it as soon as I can. But I do have to finish this video before I can. So, let's just put it uh let's do this.
Let's put it number two for now because something hotter might come along. So, let's just do this. Number six on the hotness list this month is Entropy. Entropy is a heavy Euro game about space, time, meteorites, and evolution. Right? Why I'm asking you? I should know that. Feels like this month is a unique worker game. Why a unique worker? Because usually it's worker placement, but this time it's going to be worker movement and worker sliding. Let's start with the worker movement. In entropy, you are going to take your scientist, which is your worker, and move it around the board. Depending on which space that worker lands on, you will use the action. Those actions, like usually Euro games, will give you planets and cards to create organisms. And all of that, of course, converts into, that's right, victory points. Another thing in this unique game is these creation markers. Some of the actions will require those creation markers. So, you will use it, but you will only get it back once your worker moves all the way around and passes it. So, like we said before and how we learned, plan your moves carefully. And needless to say, Entropy is a heavy euro game with lots of moving parts and lots of decisions. Those are the games we usually really like. How much do we like
it? Let's go rank it. So, how do I feel about this Euro with a very colorful theme and components? Well, recently I've been having a like resurgence of euros in my life. SEI really liked and then some others that I cannot name right now. So, you know, totally trust trustworthy statement from my side. So, I'll put entropy right here below other few euros on this list. All right, let's just shug off. Number five on our list is Rattlesnake by Osprey Games. Why do I mention the publisher all of a sudden right here, right now? It's because Osprey Games have announced that they're going to close their board game line. So, get their games while they last. What is this one about? Rattlesnake is a dueling game with one player sitting right here and with the other player sitting right here. And your goal is to get rid of the other players hit cards. If he has no more hit cards, you win.
How do you get rid of hit cards? You are going to play combinations of cards. You can either play same cards or you can play a run of cards. For example, 1 2 3 versus two of kind, three of kind and so forth. Who has the better combination [sighs] [snorts] hits the other player. Get it? Cuz it's a hit card. And anyway, let's uh move on. You can also buy new cards to add to your deck or you can use cards for their events, but once you use them for the events, they are gone into the graveyard, out of the game. Gone. So, for what do you use these cards? Rattlesnake is a very small packaged game as you can see here. Just a few cards, a token, and simple rules. A game you can pull out anytime and play versus almost anyone with a bit of bluffing, a bit of deck building, and a bit of action. Well, sounds like a lot of action. How much action? Let's go rank it and see how much action I want to get out of this game.
Let's rattlesnake this onto the list right here. I love dueling games. Dueling games is one of my favorite genre and this adds a unique twist to it. Plus, this box is small. It's easy to fit on my collection because it doesn't take a lot of space. So, you know what? Let's do this. It rattles right into this position. You know what? Entropy, I think you're being downgraded down here. All right, let's move on. We're closing into the big three, but right now just outside of it is game number four, which is eight dragons. Kind of wish it was number eight. You know why? Eight dragons continues or also ends cuz there's only two of those unique worker moving and pushing games. And this one's the worker pushing game. In this dragon pushing game, you'll be building your lair and collecting coins cuz dragons like to sleep on those coins. I guess they're comfy for them. And who has the most coins by the end of the game wins. So, how do you get those coins? How do you build your layer? Is by pushing these little dragons around. And you can slide them like a little choo choo made out of dragons. And when you stop, that's the action you get to use. And a really cool thing about these dragons is that they click together. And when I push these dragons around and use actions, other players will also get to use these actions cuz these are their dragons right here.
They're dragons. So, I kind of want to see what they want or don't want. And you use the actions that don't help them. So, eight dragons has a little bit of set collection, a little bit of worker pushing, unique components. How excited am I to play it? Let's go rank it. cute looking game with a mechanism that I've never seen before uh in board games. So, is that enough to No, it's not enough to get it all the way up there, but it's higher than entropy. And that's me after after my rant. How excited am I playing new Royal Euro games? And now we're down to three hottest board games this month. Number three is Drillers. No, no, no, no, no. That sounds like a chainsaw.
That's the one. Drillers is from the company that brought us games like STI and Ruins of Arnack. This is their latest greatest. This is a deck builder. You will have your cards. You will have your driller that will head out deep into the mine and collect resources. Not a lot of pictures available. This is essentially the only one cuz it's coming out sometime this year in essence. I guess when you collect those gems, you can bring them all the way up here and then sell them to upgrade your driller cuz to play cards, you will have to pay. It's not as easy as other deck builders. But unlike other deck builders, there's a unique mechanism where you get to see the next card that's going to come up and you can decide, do I want to draw it or not? What I'll be able to do and plan around it. And just like any other CG game, it looks stunning. Beautiful artwork, beautiful minis. Is the game play beautiful? I don't know. But how excited am I to play it? Let's go rank it. Number three, drillers is going to drill its way into position.
I don't know. This one's tricky. I love the visuals. I love that is deck building. I love that it's CGE. But but but it is enough to get all the way up here. You know what? Let's just stop it. You're going to have to edit all of this. He's I don't know why he's laughing. Mr. Cy, why are you laughing in the background? He said no comment. So, this is all gonna go a little bit down here. And then Drillers is going to be here. All right. Down to last two hottest games. Number two being Harmonies expansions. This is two for one deal. You're welcome. You got lucky this month. What is Harmonies?
Let's start with that. Harmonies is a little chill game where you're building your little plot of land right here trying to satisfy requirements of different animal cards. And if you do satisfy them, they come to live in little area of yours and score you points. Obviously, that's that's what matters. It's simple. All you do in your turn is just pick a bunch of these little land tiles and place them on your board trying to satisfy the requirements of the animals. Easy, right? What do expansions bring to the table? Uh, pun intended. Let's started with a smaller one called pulse. It just adds 10 new animals. Well, it's not just. I mean, if you want more animals, you got more animals. But the more exciting is the other one called Harmony's Crescendo. Harmony's Crescendo adds three new big things to your games of harmonies. For example, new personal boards that let you try out different layouts. Then there are these whisper creatures that let you combine the old creatures with the whisper creatures for unique new tactics. And of course, different kind of cards that let you accommodate multiple animals on the same tiles. How does that all work? I don't know, but it does sound exciting. Harmony's expansion pack. Well, in this video, it's a pack, but it's two different expansions. But the Crescendo is the one that looks and feels like it adds a lot. We have a review on Harmony, so check it out. I wasn't too impressed with it, but I understand why people love it. But the cover of Crescendo. [snorts] All right,
one spot left, one game left. Let's see what it is. The hottest board game of the month is Alterara. We actually have it set up just to show you what it is. Let's go. Welcome to Altera Festival where you will be sending your emissaries to complete different actions to score the most influence and join the console. This is a secret worker placement. What that means is to place my worker, I will have to pull out some dice, roll those dice, and then use these dice to send them on the board. But nobody knows where I'm going. Well, I do except me. Nobody. Once everyone has decided, we will reel our little boards and then place our workers on the same space where I placed my dye and then I will get to do the action. If you noticed, I pulled my dice out of this bag. Yes, this is a bag builder. Over the course of the game, I will get new dice, put them in the bag, and later on pull them out and use them for better results. These are not the ones I bought. Oh, this one of these is another unique mechanism I'd like to highlight in this game are these tracks. At the end of each round, the player who is the highest will receive the reward and go all the way back, but the second player can continue climb and get to the best reward possible. So, the unique secret worker placement, the moving up the tracks makes this a very unique experience. How unique? Let's go rank it. That was Alterara. Alterara is a very unique design with some dice rolling, back building. That seems to be a theme this month. a lot of backbuer
tech builders right here. But I still feel like Wondrous Creatures is the most wondrous game on this list. So, we will put Altera right behind it here. So, which are the games you'd be excited to try from these that have or haven't come out yet? What's your top hottest game this month? Let us know in the comments. And also, if you have a time and a little bit of money to support this channel, we would appreciate that a lot. Thank you so much. And uh see you next month. Bye.
