Revisting the Collection G

Where There's A Wilz, There's a Play Oct 12, 2026
Transcript 51:51

Welcome to where there's a wills,

there's a play.

I'm Ian, your makeupy casual gamer.

I'm Stacy. I'm your non-gamer gamer.

And today we are here with another edition of revisiting our collection.

We are doing the letter G as in girl.

Yes. So, this is where we just kind of quickly talk through the games that we have that start with each letter and give a thumbs up or thumbs down if we're going to keep them, if we got to think about it, or if it's one that just needs to move on as our game collection grows. So, we're going to move over quickly. And the first one is Game Box Family Feud Disney Edition. Uh, this one that we played on my birthday up at a game cafe in Denver several years ago. I'm a huge Disney fan. We kind of like Family Feud.

I love Family Feud.

But it um it says three to 99 players. We play it with two.

You just have to guess all of them instead of

It's It's Disney. It's Disney. It's Family Feud. Um, we don't really play it much. Even on our even on our

I think we played it once.

I think we played it a couple times. Um, even on our uh like nights when we just play silly stuff. So, you know, I there's not much to say. It's Family Feud, but it's Disney themed. So,

all the categories are Disney.

Yep. All the answers are Disney. So, all right. Ready?

Yep.

Three, two, one. Oh,

well, you can say you can do that.

Yeah, I'll go this way because I

I'd say that, you know, I'm I'm the bigger Disney fan. Um,

but this one it just we've played it at two. It's It's fine.

Um,

but it's not one we pull out to play. So, I think

I forget we have it.

I think that's one we can move on. I was getting a lot of stuff that was Disney themed because I'm a huge Disney fan and just kind of time to move on from it. Yep.

All right. Next one is the game of life. Classic game of life. We actually have the wooden box like they released a bunch of like that look like books or that just fit on your bookshelf really nicely.

2009 2010.

Yeah. Um they've recently done um them in of classic games in like each game has a different color box. We've got just ones that look wooden. They look like I mean they kind of fit good in the wood shelf. Um when we first got married um we kind of were going to get a bunch of these and we do have like five of them.

They were on our um list our registry.

Yeah. Yeah. We had these on and a couple people got us a couple of them and you know uh I think we've played it once. It's got a spot over in in a shelf. Um but yeah, I mean it's the game of life. I think people know what the game of life is. So I don't think we need to talk about the actual game too much. So

you always want to be the doctor. Yep. Yep. Ready?

Yep.

Three, two, one.

Just like it for nostalgia.

The nostalgia. And because it is like the original version, the classic version in this nice box, we're we're going to keep it. So, that one is not that one's gonna that one's going to stay. Um, next one. Now, this is one where um a couple years ago, and I'll have to see when I pull it up, uh companies started making games where they were combining some of those classic classic games. And this is the G Oh, Hasbro. Um this is the game of life trouble. Um, so this has the spinner from a game of life and it has the cars from a game of life, but you're going around a circle kind of in like in trouble. And

I think we played it once.

We played it a couple times when we first got it. Um, and so you've got some different things where you're adding

to your very well

to your um, so you've got the popper and the spinner and then you're going around and you're doing some different things and you're finishing and starting like the game of life, but you've got the spinner and also the popper. So, the popper from Game of Life, but you got the spinner from or sorry, from Trouble. And then you got the spinner from the game of life.

You pop it in. And the arrow points to the D the number that you

Well, you can also spin it. You can also spin it because

I we haven't played it.

We haven't really played it much. Um,

very much. Yeah,

we we got a bunch of these combo ones for fun. So, you can see there's like the you have different people you can get to put into your car. So, you have multiple cars, so you're gaining different ones. So yeah, um

it sounded good at the time.

It's actually not horrible, you know, a horrible mashup. I think this was one of the better ones they did. We've got we've got a handful of them. Um it's on I mean it's on the top shelf in the closet storage of, you know, so it clearly doesn't get played that much.

I need a stool to get to it.

I need a stool to get to it. You need a ladder, I think. Okay. Um ready?

Yep.

Three, two, one. I think this is one we can move on from. Maybe I'll take this into school, but only allow kids to play it if I'm playing it during like indoor recess because they don't take very good care of

the games that I have for indoor recess that I bought with budget. So, this one might be one that I take in

for indoor recess stuff when we when we have indoor recess, but the kids can only play it with me. So, I think I think I think that one will be um

we'll take into we'll take into school, but only allow it

when the kids can play with me because I don't want them to destroy it either. Next one. Okay, now let's get into some actual like gamer games. Uh, A Gentle Rain. This is a solo only game. I guess you could play co-op where you are drawing these tiles. um they're all face down and you're trying to match up uh sides when you place them down, you have to match up one of these sides to another one that's the same. If you uh if you complete a circle here, so if you get four tiles and you have a circle, you get to place the flower down from one of the four flowers that you made around it. The trick is as you're doing this, you're trying to um that looks like a prototype or just a handmade one. Um, as you're doing this, you're running out of like which flowers because there's one of each flower of these middle ones that you can actually put in there. So, they use this. So, they can't use this again. And so, you're trying to get all of your flowers. I think there's eight of these flowers. One, two, three, four, five.

Yep. So, there's eight of those. And then you're trying to get all of them to bloom. They're not going to always bloom. And then your score is if you get all the way to bloom, your score is how many tiles you have left. when you did that. Um, I've played it quite a bit. Um, I did get a review copy of this from, um, is this Incredible Dream? I think this is Incredible Dream. I did get a review copy of this from Incredible Dream Studios and did content on it. I do enjoy it. It's a nice little cozy, quick little solo game. Um, so this one's a keeper. It's small. It's got a place on shelf. It doesn't take up a lot of space. A little easier to keep the ones that don't take up a lot of the space. All right, next one. Good guy, bad guys, not so smart guys.

This is the only picture and it's not very big.

Can we get it bigger? Yeah.

This is a great game. Not that I'm giving away how I feel about this game.

It's a It's a fun little silly game.

Each card has a different character that has a different power. And I think you're going you're laying down your cards. It's a shedding game, I think. Or is this a collection game? I can't remember which one. We haven't played it in a while. We did get this for review.

Yeah, we got this for review and we've done um

did content on it.

Did content. So, you have your good guys. Uh they're wild cards. They could be used as any number. Oh, you're trying to do We haven't played it for a while. So, you're trying to put numbers down.

You're trying to get Oh, you're trying to get five consecutive cards on your table. That's what it is. You're trying to get five consecutive cards. Good guys are wilds. Bad guys allow you to snake cards from someone else. Not so smart guys um allow you to take any card from an opponent and bring it into your hand. You cannot look at your opponent's hand, though. They're not smart. They don't get to see it. The bad guy actually just takes it off the table. Um then then there's jerk cards. Um they allow you to choose one opponent and wipe out their entire table. That's right.

Um so yeah, so it's a fun little one. Um

yeah,

it's it's it's in a small little talk box. Small little talk. It reminds me of those um what are those little people called back in the 80s? The little miss flower.

Oh.

And um

the little miss and little miss.

Yeah. Little miss and little mister. Yeah. They're kind of little. So this is this is your characters. Here's your um here's your not so smart guy. Here's your bad guy. Here's your good guy. Here's your jerk.

He looks like a jerk.

Yeah. So GGBG NS NSSG. Um,

it's a small small box.

Yeah, very small. It is the size of the cards and it's like that thick. I mean, it's it's not very big. So,

yeah. So, you're trying to get five cards in a row in numerical order and the card the cards are allowing you to kind of manipulate things a little bit. Try avoid the jerks.

Yep. You're playing you're playing cards down or you're using those cards. Okay. Ready?

Three, two, one.

It's a fun little game. It plays very very quick. Five to 15 minutes completely accurate. Um, silly little game. Not a whole lot to it. Like I said, takes up almost no space. All right, next one. The gig.

This is an interesting one.

The gig, we modified it. Um, the gig you are each playing as a instrument or a person who plays a different kind of instrument and you are trying to collect um notes from a book where you're moving your character um across to match what dice you rolled.

Yep. You're placing dice here like on this picture.

Yeah. And then you get to collect those and put them into another portion where you if you have a certain number of a certain kind of note then you um get points for those.

Um we

sh in this shape too. So like this is the shape you're going to draw. So you're placing them on a

you're placing them on a song book.

Yep.

Um and then whatever your shape is, you get to do that. Each each person has a different colored dice. So you can see this is the trumpet. He's got these green ones. So he's drawing this shape somewhere. And there's some different symbols that give you

and you're taking turns laying them down in the song book

um as well. So that one person isn't laying all of their dice out, but you're trying to lay them out so that you can strategically place them then or circle them on your instrument so that you can get the most points.

Yeah. Wonder if I can find a scorecard. First of all, I love the dice. Yeah, dice are awesome. I love the note dice for the for the pips. Um, so there's a copy of the So, here's different pages. So, in a game, you'll play five or six different songs. Um, these give you different bonuses. I'm trying to see if I can find the scoring card. Um, let's see if we got a picture of the score. Where is So, like here's a set. So, here's the list. So, you play six songs. It tells you which six songs you're playing. Um,

and those are all in the book. So, you turn your book to that song.

Yeah, it is a real time game. And this is what Stacy was

getting into that we've modified it. So, if you want to talk about

about why we modified it.

Yeah. Um, I honestly we haven't played it in a while and so we modified it so that each person takes a turn laying their dice down instead of everybody kind of racing to put their dice out. Um, this just makes it a little bit more fair for two players, I think. Um, doesn't make it as chaotic and it kind of helps you get those matched into your song book a little bit better.

Yep. So, we roll the dice and we do and I think we did re-roll in between every turn.

Um, or on your turn you could either place a dice or do a roll. And then once someone had placed all their dice, the other person had like two rerolls left or something I think was our modification. Um, we just made it turnbased instead of instead of real time because in real time as soon as someone's done you're kind of done and if you don't have your dice out there, you kind of get screwed almost.

Yeah, I think it plays better at a higher player count. uh besides you know maybe three or more players it probably I think

well I don't know that might also screw more people if someone's done true yeah so when you're placing your dice you can only place them in the row that goes with that number and then you're getting the symbol so

this one's a little glary so you can see here's your kind of score pad you take a second one and you're and you're scoring things across here that allow you to do some things um you're getting spotlights here and then and you kind of count up the scores all over the place and your harmonies and everything, you know. I think this is I think this is an enjoyable game. I think when once we modified I think the other part was if you're quicker at like putting stuff out

it's just if someone's just a little bit slower and I've seen this as as the complaint on this one a lot of people and a lot of people there is a turnbased variation. We even vary that a little bit more than that. Um but yeah, it's a rolling right dice. uh great components. The the rule book is really nice. The the song book is nice. The the all the different um instruments and we have the deluxe so we have extra dice and extra instruments. Um but each one you can see plays a little differently. You have to start in a certain spot which I do like that like the saxophone you don't start where the music comes out. You start at the mouthpiece you know the vocals you start on top. So you are starting in certain spots. So I do like that. So your first thing you draw, you need to kind of like do that and like so that's the other part with the real time is if I'm trying to create a very specific shape because I need to fill in very specific places. It doesn't matter if I'm rolling good dice, those dice, if I can't put them where I need them and the other person just gets rolls in a row and they can just place their dice in in the right spot. That was the other that was the big part about the about the real time that we that we didn't love was

someone could get really lucky on their roles and place the shape and then the other person like, "Oh, I'm done now and I can't really do anything." Because you do have to be very particular like if I want to like do this, I need to place my dice in this very specific shape here. So doing that when in real time, like I said, someone could get really lucky with their dice roll and be like, "Hey, look, I was able to place all four of my dice on my first roll and now you're done." So I that was the other part of the real time that we didn't crazy about. We weren't crazy. As soon as we made it a turnbased and we went back and forth for us personally, it jumped the game way up. It made it made the game more enjoyable. Um, it it was more fun and it was more interesting. And that is one of the things that I've seen when the game came out. Oh, you see, look, you can I've got some questions in here. But when um even this Oh, look. I said take out the real time more equals more fun. So, let's see what our So, I have it. I put it in here.

Oh,

I actually put it in here. If it's going to come up.

No. Why is it not take out the real time equals more? So I do have a thing that for some reason it's not. There we go. So I said uh my wife and I got this at table for first time. We took out the real time aspect but kept some of the rules around it and made the game much more enjoyable experience. So if you can see if you want to see what we did and other people commented, we did something very similar. They weren't into the keen realtime rolling. So once we took the real time out of this for us, it made the game so much better and enjoyable. So, yeah. All right. Ready? Yeah. Three, two, one.

Yeah, I like it. I do since we ch since we changed the rules and made it more towards us. I The first time I played this game, I hated it.

I did not like it because I couldn't think fast enough to lay my dice down to get where I needed them to go. And Ian was kicking my butt every single time. So I was left with nothing almost every single role where Ian was just he's a lot more perceptive of that kind of stuff than what I am. So first time I played it, I hated it. After we adapted it, I liked it a lot more.

Yeah, I didn't have to look at my dice quite so long to figure out if I could play them. Like I was re-rolling a lot quicker than Stacy because she's like, "Well, where can I do?" You know, it's that it's just that, you know, that spatial stuff.

Yeah. So, uh, round one, player one rolls their dice and places one. So, every round we place we placed one. And then in round two, um, the other person went first. So, we just you placed one dice and then after the first roll, you have two choices. Place one of your already rolled dice or roll and place your dice or pass your turn. So, it it made it so much better

uh for us personally as a two-player game. Um, and I said I think that this would work fairly well for three players and with four players you might need to figure something else out just because we only play it at two. So, it did make it more fun. We really like it. It's it's a fun little game. Um, so that is the gig.

I just got the chills.

Uh, next one. Oh, coincidentally, um, this will come up after we reveal our showcase wall for the for the month of October 2026 is a game from uh,

Road to Infamy, and that is Globe Trotting. Um, so not on our wall as this comes up, but it is a game. We will probably get to the wall. This is a game that you are traveling around the world and as you do it, you are writing on these globes,

literally writing,

literally like writing like dry erase um on these globes to kind of show where you're going. So you are you're you're spinning the globe so that you can kind of use this so you can kind of write a straight line from one location to the other. Um I have not played this for quite some time so I don't remember exactly what

I think we played it twice.

I think so too.

And then I think it broke and then you got a new one.

Well no well one of one of the plastic stands I think snapped or something but yeah so um have not played it since. don't remember a whole lot about it

because we haven't played it since. Um

I remember it was kind of difficult to move the globe around and to get the

it was hard to get the globe together to hook together

and to turn it so that you could draw the line from one area to the next area. It was it was a little stiff. Maybe they've improved that since then.

Um it was a game had huge high hopes for. I don't know. I haven't rated it. Um I don't rate a ton of my games. Uh definitely want to get it out again and play it and see where it lands.

It's weighted fairly low, so I should have liked it.

Yeah. And maybe we maybe when we get it back out, we'll we'll like it better. Yeah.

Um but yeah, it's it's got an interesting as with Roam, it's got an interesting hook with the um with the globes and stuff. So you got these really nice globes that you are writing on. So that's a nice hook. And the case, I mean, it's a travel. It looks like a suitcase. So with with stickers and It looks like an old school suitcase with stickers and stuff from around the world. So, it is nice.

Um, yeah. All right. Ready?

Yep.

Three, two, one.

Yep. I think this one we are going to definitely make an effort to get to the table this month since CMYK or sorry, since Road to Infamy, CMYK is also on the wall. Um, since Road to Infamy is on our wall this month is one of our showcase names. Play it a couple more times. See how we feel about it. Um, I don't think I even tried the solo mode, so see how I feel about solo. Um, it is kind of an awkward shaped box.

So, once we play it this month, it's going to be one that we need to uh think about if we are going to keep it or if it's one we are ready to move on from. We do like games where you are kind of like traveling around the world too. So, that might be kind of a factor as well. All right. Um, on upper next one, Gnome Hollow. This was one of the darling games of 2024. it darling in my heart that's for sure.

It uh when it I remember seeing the stories that when it was first being shown around there were like publishing companies like battling to like get it signed with them. like there were there were companies and I can see why I think when they signed when Aman Anderson signed with the op I think it was because when they

sent him I think I remember reading something about they sent him a message about and they didn't say like you need to sign with you know like they didn't give him a pitch of why he they just gave him some thoughts on some stuff and he went with them. Unfortunately since then it kind of went from being like this oh my god all these companies were wanting to site it too. It wasn't really talked about a whole lot. It's got a cool little magnetic feature. Um, basically you are gnomes and you are making you're using tiles to make rings. And when you make these rings, um, you get to collect different mushrooms and the mushrooms.

Making fairy rings.

Yep. Well, gnomes. You're making gnome. Yeah. So, you're claiming pass, you're getting mushrooms, you're planting flowers and doing all these different things. Um, it's another game we really need to get the table. It was initially on my 2024 top 10 and then when I reraned last year, it fell off because I don't think we played it at all in 2025. So, it did fall off. I have played it a couple times on board game arena since. Um, and I think if we were to look back at 2024 again, it would probably be back in my top 10. Um, just got to get it to the table again. Any

I think it's really cute. I think we need to have a gnome a month. I think we can probably almost have one here soon. So, yeah, cute little game. Magnetic. You know, these pieces are magnetic, which is nice. They just magnetize right on there. It was kind of one of the earlier games I did. I was like, "Oh my god, look. They just stays on there." Okay, ready?

Yep.

Three, two, one. I like this one. It's cute. Even though I haven't got to the table for a while, I really enjoy this one.

I think it's really cute. Yeah, I love gnomes.

All right. Well, speaking of gnomes, Gnome Village.

Gnome Village is something that came across my Instagram feed and it was offered to me at a coupon rate and it's where you're building a gnome village where you have your workers and you have different shops that you're trying to build and move around to. Um, the rules were kind of confusing. it.

The the rules were very confusing. There was a little

When I say I love gnomes, I love gnomes, but I don't love all gnome games.

How about that?

The the rules were definitely there was some definitely some things that were very confusing to us.

Mhm.

When we played it. Um

I don't know if it was lost in translation because it was originally, I believe, from Holland. Maybe.

I don't I don't know.

But anyway, it it wasn't a big hit. I have to admit that. So, um,

no, you Yeah, like

I had such high expectations for it. Um, I was so excited that I bought my second game all by myself and I

Yeah, I don't even I don't even remember like you were there's like millions of different things that they can do and you're moving around and you're trying to

build your village out. Um, yeah, it it was okay. It didn't

I was expected to be more like gnome hollow in a way,

but it wasn't.

I I think the bones of it are good. I think it's got a good idea to it. I just something about it just

it seemed too easy

and then but it also felt like difficult to like do stuff like it was like there it was hard to like get stuff going like you had to have gnomes on the house to do stuff. And then you had to have them like asleep or away or whatever it was. In order to get another gnome, you had to do so in order to get more gnomes, you had to have gnomes in very specific spots and you had to move them along the paths. And then there were cards that allows you to do so like some of these cards have symbols on them. It felt like there was just a lot going on. There was a there was a lot of different symbols and like oh you need to have like many of these, however many of these or as many of these and

you had to go from the church to the hospital to

Yeah. Yeah.

And you had to have your cards, your helper cards next to you or you weren't you weren't going to remember what

and we were constantly looking in the rule book, too.

Yeah.

Like it wasn't even just the helper cards, but

Yeah. So, let's just vote.

All right. Anyway, three, two, one. This one did not work for us at all. Um, it is one of the few games I think that we've gotten.

Look right there. The business actions. Look at all those actions that you have.

Oh, yeah. Look, this is So, this is all the different actions based on the different types of buildings you have. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 13, 14. Like just tons. But you had to have a certain number of each of them. And just did not work for us. I mean, and it looks like it's kind of, you know, it's got a 6.7.

I'm more surprised that Nome Hollow is not higher.

Yeah.

This than this is this high. But how many ratings is it?

I was just gonna say Nome Hollow has a lot more ratings than this one.

45 people 45 people rate it. Um, oh yeah, someone else. Great potential. Unfortunately, wasn't play tested enough. Yeah, the game should be play tested until all players have actual Yeah, I agree. I agree with that. I don't think it was play tested very much. Um,

yeah, didn't like the game flow. Too many rules for like game. That's I think that makes just too many rules, too many things, too many different icons, different You're like, "Oh my god, wait. I'm doing what? Okay, hold on. Let me take two minutes to like look this up and stuff.

If you didn't have to constantly keep looking up the the rules and all of the motions that you could go through, it would have played really quickly. But because you have to stop so much to check everything, it took a long time.

It took a long time and we just didn't enjoy it." Okay, moving on.

Moving on.

Another gnome game.

Gnomeing around from Grabbacks.

Gnomeing around. Okay. I love gnomes. I'm going to go back to I love gnomes.

Casey hadn't picked that up. She loves gnomes. So, she loves orange. She loves gnomes and otter. So, if you make a gnome otter game with orange pieces,

a gnome otter. A gnome otter. Huh? A gnome otter. Okay.

So, increing around. You are playing a round of golf. you're trying to get the lowest score possible. You have your rows, your three rows by three of uh cards face down to start out. You each flip one card over or two cards over to uh start your round. And then you are either uh drawing a card from the uh face down pile or from the discard pile and replacing those face down or face up cards in your um grid until you have the most uh negative points or the lowest score. Um once the player gets down to one card left to flip over, then you take your last turn. You add up everything. You can bounce around. So, if you draw a card that's a three and you flip over a three, then you get to bounce and you get to do another card.

Um,

just a lot of uh fun different aspects to this game. You have the two love birds that it's a wild card.

It's a fun take on the game of golf, you know. Exactly. So, you have cards like they said. So, there's negatives and there's posit positives. um the negatives if or the positives if you get three in a row or a column of the same number that becomes negative. So this is also little this little interesting puzzle of like okay I've got a couple eights can I hold on and hopefully get another because that's going to be negative eight but if I can't get another eight

and I see the other person is is about to flip their last card. Well now I've got positive 16. So I really got to figure out that out. Yes, they said there's a wild card which can count as any number which is great because you could put it in in a spot and it can count for the row and column can really help you get the negatives. The negatives are just negative. Um the bouncing rule is if I were to flip this if I were to draw a card. If I were to flip this card and it's a three or let's say I placed a four here. If this card is a three or four, I have a three and a four in my grid already. I get to bounce it. I get to flip another one. Sometimes you get lucky and you can bounce a couple in a row and all of a sudden

then you get the sand trap.

Yep. All of a sudden then you've got you're way ahead of your opponent because you were able to bounce some and and they weren't. So, um it does it's it's a nice little thing. Yeah. So, there is this little puzzle like you you have a couple big numbers that come up. Well, maybe I can get those early. And then as the game goes on and you see your opponent's like, "Okay, they've they're down to like two cards. I I need to get rid of these now." Um, so I I either need to find out what this is or I need to get rid of these right now because otherwise I'm going to get stuck with huge points. So, um, we just did a playthrough of this recently. Um,

it's an old game, but it's so fun

and had a couple of like just crazy rounds where like just huge scores or huge swings and stuff. Um, yeah. Then you have the um you have the mulligan card which is an X on it which is 10 points if it ends if it's in your grid at the end and you discard that. So

yep.

Oh, now there's people walking back there.

Neighbors. Neighbors. Neighbors. All right. Some neighbors.

We had some deer walking back there earlier in a video. So

anyway, ready?

Yeah.

Three, two, one.

That's a keeper. It's a small box. It's easy to play. It's easy to get to the table. Take it out of the box. Shuffle it up. Lay it out. that you're good to go.

Yeah. All right.

Plays quick. Three rounds.

Yeah. Next one. Goats and Goblins from BA Games. Um I backed this one on Kickstarter because their first game, Forges of Raven Shower, which Shire, which we talked about in the last video, was just it was my number one game of 2024 um in my original ranking. And then it dropped to number two in the reank because I hadn't played it for the year. And this one has a little push your luck element to it. You are um known or your your your goblins that have to hurt your goats that got away by diving down through

the the pit and stuff. There's some different abilities. Um

it it really is a three to eight player game. There is a twoplayer variation which or three to six player um which I don't know if it work I don't know if it feels like it's the actual game. Um it felt a little odd. Um so yeah so you're div you're trying you're trying to do some some uh card play conflicts and push your luck. You're you're you're diving down to to get things. So, yeah. Do you remember?

We played it a couple times.

We played it several times. We played it several time. We played it several times.

Um.

Yeah.

Okay.

Yeah.

All right. Three, two, one.

Yeah. So, this is one we're going to think about. This is I think if we could play We don't have a game group. We don't really have, you know, people that come over to play games of. I think if we played it the actual way to play it with more people, I mean, the community is seemed best at five.

Um, I think it would probably be better, but at two, I I wasn't crazy about it. I didn't think it

I didn't hate it, but I didn't like

I didn't think the two-player variation was that great. So, that one we'll think about. That one probably is, even with being a small box, probably unless we have people to play with. Um, maybe I'll take it into school and and see if it if if it's good for the kids. It does say eight and up. So,

okay,

maybe the kids will, you know, maybe I can, you know, play the school or something. All right, next one. More goblin games. We got We got We got We got gnomes and goblins in this in this um in this list. Uh, Goblin Vaults. Goblin Vaults is from Thunderworks Games. It is a set collection game where you are playing in the prison of uh in the Kublac prison I believe and it's one of the games that the that the inmates all play doing some action bidding some hand management some problem uh some pattern building some set collection tile placement so you are bidding on these different um those are the characters they don't really come into play so you you have these different um you're you're drafting and you're bidding on these different uh items that come up and you have different scoring cards and so you want to try and get you have I think it's four or five different columns you can put stuff into but things score based on like where they are. Uh let's see if I can get a scoring card.

Um so there's the bidding. So you could see like the Oh, so the cluster. So here here's one of the scoring cards. So cluster score each chamber with three cards whose values form a sequence in ascending or descending order. Okay. So you get nine points per nine gears per chamber. So example, if you had a 6, seven, eight or an 8, seven, six. So they're trying to do it. So they had a 1, two, three, they had a 5, six, seven. So both of these chambers are going to score. Um, so these are called a chamber. Um, so you see you have four chambers. You aren't going to fill all four of them. And there are some cards that allow you to kind of manipulate and move stuff around. There are some things that um this card up here on top, the suit on that is kind of like the trump suit, so it will beat things. Um this is one I've only played solo. I do enjoy it. We have it with the um with the uh marauders chest, I think is what it's called.

um that also has goblet or that also has um Emerald Skulls, which we talked about two episodes ago on this. Um so they're all together in the same box now. It's not small boxes. So yeah, I enjoy this one. It's it's a fun little game. It it plays pretty quick. So uh that one's going to be a keeper. If we get rid of this, we have to get rid of Emerald Skulls. And Stacy really likes that. I enjoy this. I think you might enjoy this one. Okay.

All right. Next one. Googly eyes. Eyes.

And we might as well talk about we have googly eyes. We have googly eyes showdown. And they don't actually have googly eyes spin on here.

Oh.

Um, which is Yeah. So heck.

So yeah.

Um, so googly eyes is a more of a party game where you wear these silly goggles and you swap out the lenses depending on what card you draw

or as this called in this language, scarab. scarable, too.

Okay. Um, and you have to draw wearing these glasses. And it's is very difficult to see through them to try and figure out what you're supposed to be drawing. The other group is supposed to be guessing what you're drawing. You have a time limit. On the card, it has um easy uh easy, moderate, and difficult, and you draw or you roll the dice. It tells you what color and what number and you the color tells you what color goggles you have to wear and then um what number on the card you have to draw. Um this is probably best more than two people I'm guessing. But we have um made it adapted it to a two-player game. We're pretty honest with each other. We try really hard to guess what the other person is drawing

and to try to draw as best we can.

And if they guess it then the person drawing gets the points for the other person guessing it correctly. It's a silly game. It's a silly game.

We play it on New Year's Eve every year. We liked it so much that we bought

We got Google Showdown, which has a different version, which has different lenses. Um, you can see there's four different There's

six different lenses here. And you can look at them. You can see like these lenses are just crazy. So, this version has you're drawing a chip to see which color lenses you're using. And then there's googly eye spin.

And the lenses actually spin in them. Um, yeah, it's just a silly game. Yes, you're probably like, "Oh, party game. That definitely needs more than two." We just we we we don't play as a team game. We just play it because it's fun and silly for us. And we just enjoy some stuff like that sometimes.

Move around the board. If you get it right, you get to move to that next color that you just finished. So, we enjoy this game. It

It's silly. We have consolidated all three boxes into one box recently. Um we talked about that with um the dice one uh with our diceades

dice capades where we com where we consolidated down to one box for space. So we have all three pairs of or all

lenses

six pairs of glasses because it comes with two pairs of glasses. So we have all six pairs of glasses. We have all I don't even know how many lenses total at this point. um at least nine 10 probably up to 13 or 14 um sets of lenses at this point and all the cards in one box. So yeah,

I love this.

There's a fun silly

just go ahead and we're Yeah, this will keep her.

There's nothing serious about the G game. This game this is on those days when we just silly fun. Yeah,

we like silly fun sometimes and this is one of the games that comes out on New Year's. Or maybe we just like, [snorts] hey, let's have a silly fun game day and let's just play some goofy fun games that we don't have to think about. We don't have to try too hard. We just It's just fun.

And neither one of us are very good at drawing. So that helps the situation. Like, you know, my zebra will look like a house. But, you know,

well, and when when you can't see where you're drawing, you can't even tell if you're on the paper. You put your goggles on and I'm like doing this, you know, reaching trying to find your pencil and your paper and I'm like, "Okay, I got my paper and pencil."

Okay. It makes my eye on the paper.

Yeah. So, it works.

All right. Next one. Gridlock from Niche Nation Games.

We haven't played Gridlock yet,

have we?

I think we did.

We did play.

We did. I'm bad at this game because you can use either letter that's on the card. She only looks at one side.

I only look at the top because that's the one that's facing towards me. And um so is Oh boy, I can't remember how to play. You are

we did some content for it. You let's see. So each card in the deck has both sides a letter in one corner, a different letter on the opposite corner from one uh four small rectangles in the center 3x3 grid. Oh, you have Oh, you have to Oh, so you players announce So you're trying to find a word. Players Simon says to create words by moving from letter to letter and either orthogonally or diagonally across two to four cards. Players announce the words that they form remove from the grid and capture the card. So you're you're creating words and I think if I remember correctly you have to use

it's kind of like boggle but without and then you get points for whatever cards. These are like your points at the end. That's right.

Yep. That's right. I remember

this is silly fun. Another very tiny box. Another very tiny box.

Very small box. It's sitting right there actually.

Oh, it is sitting right there.

It is sitting right there.

So, we still have it on the table. You can reach it.

Let me Let me grab I will show you how small it is. Is literally just the size of the card. Yeah, it's like the It's like a normal deck of cards.

So, this is how big it is.

Oops.

Get back in my table. get back in. So you can see here's my hand. It's it's like smaller than my hand. So that's it. Okay.

Yep. Nish Nation Games is a small

independent publisher.

Independent publisher who has put out a lot of brain games, I call them. Yeah.

Um if you have an opportunity, check them out. Um they have some great

Make your Think Games.

Yeah. Ready?

Yep.

Three, two, one.

Keeper.

They don't have any They don't have a rating on it. Oh,

they've only got two ratings.

Oh,

so I'm kind of curious. I'm kind of curious with only two ratings what they've

a 10 and a six.

Oh,

okay. No notes on. But yeah, just a just a quick little game. Yeah, I like the I like the explanation of boggle because but yeah, so Stacy forgets about the bottom letter. So you kind of see you can see there's a top and Why am I showing you there when I can just

So So you can see there's a top and a bottom letter. She only looks at the top one. So,

well, that's the one that's facing me.

It is.

Why would you look at the bottom one when it's not facing me?

But yeah, that was the bottom.

That's what part makes it hard. That's what you have to

All right. Next one is a solo only game. This is Grove nine a nine card solitary game. So, this is in the line of Orchard and there was a third one which I can't remember off top of my head. Uh but so basically you are laying these cards on top of each other and when you lay them down you want to lay the same fruit on top of the same fruit because you put these dice on and every time you do that you get to pip the dice up. So this one must have four orange under it. This was the fourth orange. This one was the fourth green. And then you've got some different cards over here that allow you to score some things differently. Um, yeah. I mean, it's in the same line as Orchard, the nine card solitary game.

So, like I said, you're you're stacking these cards and as you stack them, you place a dice up here. So, like when I put this one on here, I'll put a one up and then when I put another one, I'll put a two up. So, yeah. So, and then you're you've got these. I don't remember this. I haven't played this one as much as Orchard. I've played Orchard a lot. Um, but I've got this one. I've got all three of them. I've actually got two copies of Orchard because I had one and then when the third game came out, I got all three of them with the tuck box. So, they all store in a nice little box. I enjoy these games. Um, I need to play them more. They're they're small. They're quick to play. So, for now, this one's going to be a This one's a keeper. Two games left in the G's. Next one. Another classic game. Guess Who?

I don't know. We've got this in our classic game collection. I think everybody knows Guess Who on New Year's Eve. That's one of the New Year's Eve games that I like to pull out right next right after Candyland. You know, it's 10:00, you can't think, but you really have an inquisitive mind. And so, you need to know if you have somebody who's bald or if you have somebody who's got red hair. Um, I like this game. It for adults to be playing Guess Who, you know, you have to be really late at night.

I mean, yeah. I mean,

or not thinking.

Well, and for us it's the nostalgia. Yeah. like it it it's the nostalgia factor of we both played this as kids.

Um

I probably played it in middle school.

Okay. In middle school.

Yeah. But yeah,

I was a kid in middle school.

So, you know, you've got you each person has a board. That's an interesting version and different they have different um this is Oh, this is a

looks like it's another country.

Yeah. I don't know. Different different game. That's basically guess who. So, oh yeah, those are definitely

different.

It's a different title.

Interesting.

Even I mean there's this there's all these alternate names. There's 40 Oh my. There's 47 more alternate names.

Must be different names in different countries. Maybe

there's a Guess Who cars, too.

There's a Cars and a Disney version. Oh.

Oh my gosh.

Disney. They've got all Look Disney princess. Disney Junior.

They just sold a Disney copy.

Look at this. Look at all these different versions of it. Pokemon,

different languages. Yeah. So, it's just different language and most of them are different languages.

Okay.

Um, yeah,

it's a relatively small box.

It's in our classic games collection of nostalgia and that's why it's in our collection.

Ready? Go.

Sorry,

you didn't even do a countdown.

I did not do a go. Okay. Three, two, one, go.

It's it's it's nostalgia for us. We, yes, we are more modern-day gamers, but we also really like the nostalgia few of when [snorts] we grew up. And that's why that's why a lot of these games are a collection. Do they get played very much? No.

Like rarely at all.

Every so often. Every so often.

Is it going to get pulled out? Sure.

You know, is it on a shelf that we don't really have easy access to? Yeah. So that's why I said like I'm not going to put the games that we want to play a lot on a shelf that's really really high that in our closet that I can't reach without getting the step stool that I can't even reach without getting the steps stool. So it's up there. Um it is literally on the only shelf in our closet that I can't really reach without the step stool. Um so yeah, so it's in our it's it's going to stay. It's smaller. I mean, maybe it'll get passed on to the, you know,

my nephews,

nephews, children,

my cousins, kids, someone, something, you know, just here. Here's a bunch of classic games, but yep, that is Guess Who. And the final game in this one is Guild of Merchants Explorers. This is a game I've only played solo. This is a rolling right without the right is the best explanation of this game I think I've ever heard because what you are or flipping right because what you're doing is you are flipping over cards and each card tells you where you can place your little cubes down on. So instead of writing on it, you're placing cubes down and you're trying to connect different cities. And the cities um give you if you if you collect different cities, then you can multiply like if I connect this one to this one, I get to multiply four by times four, I get 16 points. I get to put a I get to put something over the top of this. If I fill in an entire section of one color, I get to put a little town down. That gets me points.

If I can get to the edges here, I get to put down a little tower. I get points for that. You play through four different rounds. In round one, you put the arrow one card down. When you do that, you draw out three of these cards. You get to choose which one you are going to be using that round or every time that comes up, every round, you do another one of those. So, you end up with three era cards here. And then, um, in era two, when either of these come up, you get to use both. You get to use them when each card comes up. At the end, you get a wild one. here in the fourth round. You're also trying to do some different You're trying to get these things done quickly. Um discovering villages, exploring crystal spaces. There's several different maps that have some slightly different things. Um really enjoy this game. It's a lot of fun. I also played on BGA. Um yeah, like I said, it's a flip and right without the right. It was when I heard that it was the best explanation ever. I do play it only solo on the tabletop and one of the things that um someone gave a great thing to do is because you have to take off all the cubes every round but your little cities stay is use a different color building for your cities so you don't accidentally grab them up because it's really easy to see oh those are going to stay. Um I enjoy this one.

I will say I absolutely hate the coins in them because they are all the exact same size but they're different denominations and I do believe they are only one side like only yeah only one side has the number on it. So, they are such a pain in the butt because you have ones, you have fives, you have tens, or you have 50s, you have tens, but the backs of all of them look exactly the same.

And they're all the exact same size. Like, if they were different size be one thing. So, I've actually put um I've actually put cardboard um money tokens from other games that I've upgraded to metal ones in those games in here just so that I don't have to deal with these um with these coins, these coins, because they're the worst I've ever seen. I I don't I don't like them.

They don't make sense. You you have one-sided things and they all look exactly the same, but there's four different denominations. though. But anyway, I really enjoy this game. Um, I don't play it a ton on the tabletop. I did when I first got it. It is on BG. I don't even play it a ton in there. Right now, this one's going to be a think about because I think since it's on BGA and I can just pop it on BGA and really I don't have to deal with the coins, I don't have to deal with like the cards, it is very quick to play on BGA. Um, and I still don't play it a ton on BGA even though I could. I think it's maybe because I do prefer playing on games on the tabletop, but this is one that I could easily um I could easily get rid of the physical copy, move it on to someone who's going to play it multiplayer and um and just play on BGA when I want to play. So, there you have it. There is our G collection, one of our smaller ones. Um so, it looks like we are thinking about three games. We are calling three games.

No. One, two, three. Code of 18. So, a third of them we are either calling or thinking about.

So,

okay.

And but there was also a lot of really small ones or a couple kind of just silly fun part. There was a lot of tiny boxes that are kind of like this size that don't take up a lot of space. Um, but yeah, there you have it. Let us know what uh first let us know what some of your favorite G games are. Let us know which of the games we talked about you have played and what you think about them and which ones of these would you keep, which ones would you have to think about, and which ones would you call? Um, yeah. So, that has been our Glist. Let us know in the comments below. Once again, this has been Where's Wills?

Just play.

I'm Ian.

I'm Stacy.

We'll see you next time

at the table.
