UKGE 2026 Day 3 Review - This is the End.
Transcript
And now the end is near and we face the final curtain. This is the end.
It's day three of UK gaming. But it's day three end of UK Games Expo. I'm Wayne. This is Matt. We're Board Stupid. We're here to give you the down low of the final day of the biggest board games event in the UK.
And it was amazing.
And it was amazing. Oh my goodness. So, another insane day and actually very busy for a Sunday I felt.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Normally Sundays are way quieter. Actually now it is 5:00 to 4:00 so you might hear the the the the the speaker saying that it's closing down but yeah it's the end of the day. So before the speaker start loud, what we've been doing today?
So we took the time to do a little bit of shopping today, speak to some amazing people but also got to play some games. So Matt and I got to play test a couple of things were really interesting. We got to sit down and play the new game by Hisashi Hayashi who's the designer of Bomb Buster's. We played his card game Circadia which actually I can just go grab over there. This is a very interesting game. Plays two to five players and it is actually quite cool. You are essentially doing a little bit of set collection in order to buy points cards essentially but there's a couple of very interesting things. The points cards are either day or night like the circadian rhythm. When you buy a day points card, you must then buy a night points card and that might conflict with the cards that you've collected. So that's some quite interesting stuff there. I thought it was pretty cool.
I thought that we really enjoyed it and we immediately bought a copy. Yes, this is probably what we're going to speak more about this in the in the post show video. So by the way, stay tuned also we are we're have a proper rundown of everything uh probably
Yes, a proper post-show review in the next few days actually.
we really enjoyed it and uh yeah, this now in the collection, yes.
Absolutely. We also actually got to sit down and get a really thorough overview of Prague Unseen and that's is cool.
So, 30 seconds about the game.
Yeah, go ahead.
Uh so, it's the uh wider euro. Uh it's going to be more toward the the the lengthy one cuz it will say like a a four-player game. It's going to be around the three hours. So, yeah. However, however, uh how the the mechanics of the world of the of the game works and everything, it seems like a very very smooth.
It's very snappy.
Yeah, exactly. You got you got basically four type of workers on your on your board. The board is divided in four districts. They are the Prague district. Uh each one of these districts is uh is its own mini games. And what you're going to do during the mini games, each one is going to give you like a different type of scoring. Um but then you you got this very interesting I do the mini game and then I can move my my work into another position. You can build bridges in between the districts or you can do a mini game for this and put in the the final position of your meeple in the in another district. So, you are But uh there is there is a lot to unpack in that. Uh probably we'll do again we'll speak more about that. It's uh it's still a prototype. It's going to be uh ready for Essen. So, it was really cool to see it now.
Yeah.
Um it might be a big one for Essen.
Yeah, I I I feel good about this one. I think this might be a very exciting project. So, we're going to keep a close eye on it.
Yes.
Um love the idea behind it. It's doing some really interesting things with the multiple workers.
Absolutely.
Really really nice. Uh we also got to sit down and actually play this. I'll go grab this too. Uh we got to play another one from All Play a new release this year, which is Grunts. You probably can't see the shiny shininess, but maybe you can. Okay, there you go. Uh Grunts, this is pretty fun. It's a one versus one Julian battling game. Um, where it has these really lovely little magnetic {slash} wooden pieces where you're going to like modify your tanks and your various bits and bobs. Really cool little game.
It's an an abstract chess not that like a chessy game using this like military pieces. Each each piece will be moving in different ways. You can attack like a normal soldier cannot attack a tank but tank can attack the the small soldier. And what I was saying is it's an abstract warhammer chessy game because you can the cool things is like all the vehicle you can have different you can put up different attachments to be like a normal tank or an anti air anti plane stuff. The planes can be a normal planes can be a bombarder. They all move in different ways. So, we were surprised like to say yes.
Really I think pretty decent. Really like that a lot. Other news, we also grabbed a copy of Crash Derby another game by Alby. By the time we were there we thought we'd pick it up. Didn't get to play it yet but we're going to get it to the table because we're both quite excited about that one as well.
Yeah, we got a few things. The even Deep Regrets cuz we wanted to to take Deep Regrets back on the table. The expansion apparently like fixes some of the
unusual things maybe.
unusual things in the game but that's that that that was super cool. Plus we got we spent some money
Yeah, we spent some money today. Other news, Inside Up Games doing some really exciting stuff. Obviously we were spending some time with with with the team over there. Can't say much now but just keep an eye on what they're doing in advance of Gen Con. There'll be some cool stuff that you know which might be available and stuff like that. So, yeah. There's some stuff going on.
Ollie and I are not going to say anything, but we're going to keep an eye on it. It's really cool.
That's what we can tell you.
It's all about cool stuff.
So, all that there is really for us to do is
Yeah. Um, do you love Old King's Crown?
Do you love the Old King's Crown?
I just say that. Just say.
Okay. Just We're not going to say anything else. Just leave
And no, it's not Old King's Crown 2.
No, it's not. Not. Not this time.
Um
All that is to
say, uh basically, thank you everybody uh for coming and stopping us and saying hello and being so kind and wonderful. It has been our favorite show probably that we've ever done. of all the good and the bad of the event.
