Hey everyone and welcome back to the Dice Tower here for Crowd Surfing. I'm Camilla. I'm Zee Garcia. I'm Mike Delisio. Hello. And I remembered to introduce us this week.
You did. I was Oh, Mike was waiting for you to mess up. I was sitting here and I was going to be smug. I was getting ready to be smug. Smugness on deck. Had to take it back. All right. Well, welcome to Crowd Surfing, a game where we take a look at board game projects and other projects on Game Found and BackerKit and Kickstarter and No Indie GoGo this
it been for Indie GoGo? I think we're over a year. Did we put it to rest?
No, no, no, no. We had one not that long ago, right?
Indie GoGo?
Indie GoGo, really? I thought we had an RPG project not that long ago. Oh. I could be wrong.
that was my water. Sorry. I heard water. I thought you were going No one's getting my water. I can tell you that right now. What is happening? All right. But before we jump into any projects this week or anything, we want to talk about the Dice Tower Cruise. So, if you're interested in playing games in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with us, you can join us for dicetowercruise.com. That is next January, and we have a full slate this year. We're going to CocoCay. We're going to
Yes. You guys, this is where you jump in and help me out.
Oh, you're helping me we know. I tell you what, here's what I'm most excited about.
Bermuda, ooh, I want to take you. Bermuda. Bahama No, this is a new ship. This is the Icon.
Wow, this is the Icon of the Seas. I know that. I know that class. It's the biggest ship in the world. Yeah, I think there's nothing bigger.
at one point, it was the biggest.
the biggest ship that's ever been made. They almost called it the Titanic of the Seas. This ship simultaneously sail on three of the seven seas. It's that large. It no longer needs to float. It can just walk on the bottom, it's so big.
several zip codes. All right, dicetowercruise.com. You can join us next January to escape the winter. Um all right, yes, but this show is also it is sponsored by Gamefound. So, before we jump into the projects we're going to talk about this week, let's hear from Tom and something you can back over there.
Today we're taking a look at Gods and Mortals from Wolf Designs, who you might know from their other games Atlantis, uh Guards of Atlantis, and Trick Shot. And now you have a chance to mix a bit of stock market with Greek Gods. And so, they like see there's stock trading and area control, and you're mixing all of this together while playing a bunch of Gods. You can play as Zeus or Artemis or Aphrodite or Hermes and many many many gods that you can get. And so, you're going to be taking all these ancient Greek gods with different special powers, invest on them, bet on the fate of the four mortal factions. And so, you're betting on the fates of these, and then also manipulating those as these different gods. So, this is on Game Found right now. Back it to get the neoprene board and these really beautiful components. And you can find out more of it here. They have basically one major pledge that you can get with a couple upgrades. And all of this can be found right now, Gods & Mortals, on Game Found.
Yeah. All right, and away we go. We're going to start out here with Hexaemblem, beating the unbeatable. Yeah, Hexaemblem.
Hexaemblem.
like beating the unbeatable sounds like they're selling you an inspirational tome or something. Like not like a game. It doesn't sound board game related.
not. That's my point. Uh and it is also not just board game related, it's app-driven. It's a it's This is a tech project
Yes. through and through. Can I can I you you're blazing past what I couldn't quite figure out. Hexaemblem sounds like it's a combination of two words, hexagon and a word that doesn't exist. What is happening? What what is it supposed to be? I'm serious. An emblem?
emblem. I think it's an emblem. Hexaemblem?
Hexaemblem. Hexaemblem. Hexaemblem. Hexaemblem. You know what? Just beat the unbeatable, Mike. Yes. I will.
All right. So, you've been saying, yeah, this is a tech thing. Does it not say not required? That's it says app included, but then over here it has the app plus app not required, but I think the app is required for upcoming material, cuz that's their whole thing is like, "Hey, this is going to do randomly generated setups for you. It's going to take care of that, and you're not going to have to have as much storage space in your home."
I got it.
Right? And so, that's what they're they're pushing as well as we can do updates, we can do future content. You're buying a system now for future content as well. But that would make it app required. So I'm confused by that as well.
Right. This is an interesting approach, right? Now, we don't know if the tech is going to work, we have no idea, but what what essentially to me looks like they did was basically take adventure story-driven gaming and put it into an abstract game system, right? So basically you're going to these different color things which can mean different things, right?
things, depending upon Um so yeah, I'm not sure. It's like, okay, you I Again, they're saying, "Look, you're not going to have to pay for miniatures. If you don't really want to do miniatures, maybe you can, you know, uh you Here's the thing. I could understand this appealing to those people that own a deck of cards and say, "Why would I buy that trick-taking game or that card-shedding game because I have them right here. I'll just play by treating pretending the twos have a goblin printed on them and pretending the kings are a monster, and now I have that game." Yeah. And now I have that game. If you like that, then yeah, I could see this being a system that you enjoy because you're going to be playing a lot of different games without out the artwork and the personality. Mhm. I don't like that. If I'm going to invest time in playing a game, I want the best chance for me to dive into that game's artwork, world, immersion, all of that stuff. You are specifically taking those things away as as a way to offer me more games. That's not a trade I'm willing to give up. Like at the end of the day, I still want a tabletop game. And I mean I think this is most comparable in my mind to like Mansions of the Madness, but it still has minis. And they're saying here, we're not putting the money towards producing all these minis, we're putting it into the app development. So, I think it's like I get what they're saying, but at the end of the day, I don't want a video game. I don't want to have to go to the app for the immersion. I want the immersion on my table where the
conversation is happening.
Sure. This seems to be skewing much more RPG than tabletop game.
Maybe that's it. And maybe that's it then in that case because I mean, even having this little board out there that takes away from the theory of the mind and onto more of the you know, actual tabletop. I just that's still in development thing right there. Look, you're you're speculating. I'm sorry. This may be a great project. This may be like in 5 years we like, look, they started here and look what they've done with it, but you are speculating on this project.
me of that other one that we did. We did a play through of like a vampire themed one. Um, it wasn't called Tableau, but
Oh, Taburu. Taburu, yeah, yeah. Kind of reminds me of that same thing. It's like still in development couple years later.
had a huge company behind it, you know?
but I'm saying and it still didn't Yeah, no, you're right. That's that's an even more of a cautionary tale, I suppose. All right, Hex Bloom. Illiterati. Oop, oop, oop, oop.
Oh my god. Oh, I broke it. Okay. Red Herrings and White Roses reprint. So, this is a reprint of Illiterati with the expansion being Red Herring and White Roses. Have you guys played this at all?
It's like a word game, I guess, with really cool artwork and uh a great theme. Talking about the other one sort of you know, putting the theme aside in order to give you more. This game is the opposite. The game doesn't look like there's much to it.
Yeah. But the theme, the artwork, how invested this game is in its own setting Yeah. is inspiring. Yeah.
I want to play this game if only because they seem to be so psyched about this very simple looking word game.
Right. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, it's true. I'm stoked about this. It just it seems so simple of a word game. You know, here's a bunch of letters scrabble scrabble-wise, make words out of it, but it is cooperative and has some real-time elements. This is This is really interesting to me um to the point that I'm sad that I've missed the original game. Or you can get the reprint right here.
get the reprint right here, and I think that that this is also done well with that. I mean, we all we talk often about these ones where it's like, "Oh, this page for this reprint just makes me feel like I missed the boat." Right.
and it's like I don't feel like that with this page. It's a very well-put-together page.
I agree. Next time I play Scrabble, I'm going to be playing OMG on a triple word score. I'm showing them this page. It is legal. OMG. I like it. I like the little things. It's not just about making the word, but it's the little challenges, too. It's like, "Oh, and you have to use three of the green letters, or you have to use you know that kind of stuff." So, extra challenges on top. No, I'm I'm digging this project.
new characters are really neat, the stuff that they're I love their word their play on words often, you know, there's a lot of humor in here, but also just some of the ideas, like one of the characters you play against turns the game into Upwords, where you now have to like play on top. You have dove, and then you play an L, and now it says love. And then you play you know, you change the R D into lord, and it's like, "Okay, yeah, sure."
It's cool, yeah. It's definitely going beyond a typical word game. Yeah. Yeah, I'm I'm intrigued. Next up is the Magnus Oh my gosh, you Okay, you need to stop.
they changed where they were like three
comes great responsibility.
on? Hold on, I can't even do it when I try. Art? Okay, so I think I'm clicking there and just pulling down. Okay, got it. It won't happen again. Oh, no.
to happen on every page. All right, the Magnus Archives Mystery. So, this is based on the podcast, right? Do you guys listen to the podcast?
No, I'm not about that. I remember him talking about it quite a bit. Uh This is the one that he had to stop listen to because he used to walk to work at the at the old office, and it was he walked in the dark in the mornings, and it was too scary, so he stopped listening. He's a big wuss.
So, it it I mean, it looks like um you know, kind of like you play through them once. It's going to be kind of like you know. Like a I think if you have almost yeah, you have to have I think some familiarity with this. There's nobody backing this was never heard. The podcast which to be fair is incredibly popular. I'm not saying that but um Yeah, it seems neat and I guess this is already a round two for them collaborating Indie Boards and Cards and and and this property. I haven't seen that before. I I assume it did well. I don't know but they're having another go at it more content. This is the the second time then? So this isn't just additional cases cuz I thought it was like hey, we have two boxes. This is a different thing but they've collaborated before.
Okay, that's cool. Yes, I That's really neat. I didn't realize that. Neat. Yeah, I think if you're into the podcast and you like these kind of one-shot games this could be really interesting.
Yeah, if you have the crossover between the podcast and and board games then you can be on this. Absolutely. Next up. Ooh, you did it. Oh, I did.
Yeah. I didn't think about it. I'm just a natural. That's how you do it. That's how you succeed in life. Muscle memory. That's a hell of a deal right there. All right, a cooperative poker game against who? The devil himself.
Now it does say it in the title there cooperative but other than that if you maybe just skim over that it takes a while for you real well before I realized that this was actually a cooperative game. Folks, get ready. You've probably already seen it but get ready. There's going to be a whole lot of poker themed games over the next year or two. It's happening already. It's going to continue to happen. If you don't like poker, just quit playing board games right now.
like trick taking either? What does that make you?
let me direct you to some Warhammer cave over there. I'm joking. I know there's a lot of people that love Warhammer. Cave, yeah. Don't people play Warhammer 40K in cave? Henry Cavill just had like an 18-hour Who? sesh. Who? Henry Cavill, Cavill. Henry Cavill's, right? Yeah, he had a 40-hour sesh?
No, 18-hour sesh You mean Christian Bale? Yeah, he did.
Yeah, yeah. He's like super into it. I think he might be
Henry Cavill can do it. Yeah, he's going to be like, I think trying to get that property turned into something on TV or film or something. Yeah, he's doing the Joe Manganiello, I think. What he does with D&D. Okay, is he Superman? No, he was Deathstroke. Get out of my face, Deathstroke. Um, this game I like the spaghetti arms look. I like the art. Nailed it. Jinx. You owe me a deal from the devil himself. Um, I I actually like the the look of this production quite a bit. Every part of it I like the look of. I don't know if the game is going to be interesting. I It seems neat. It It seems sort of Balatro-inspired a little bit. Um and I definitely like the look of this more than pixel artwork, but Yeah, it's just I'm I'm feeling this. If this was in front of me right now, I would play it. I do think 65's feels expensive for this. It does. Well, it's the poker chips, man. You're paying for You're paying for the deluxe production. I will say that this is one that I grew to into because at first I was like, this is feels too on the nose. It's a little bit too obvious, but then there's more character and originality in it the more you delve into it, right? Um, so I'm with you. I would I would 100% play this. Um, I do like poker and I do like riffs on poker. Some games that have been recent kind of plays on that thing I've liked quite a bit. So, I'm not done with it yet. Why is poker making a huge comeback?
I really I really I Balatro has spurred a lot of people's uh interest and then the game see that came out not long after. Mhm. I play this over like cleaning the bathroom. But that's about it. Huh. I like poker. Uh it's no sushi otter, but we'll talk about that later.
Sushi Otter was cute. The art. Sushi Otter?
was cute. That's the one that the poker game we played. I taught you guys. Remember I crushed
You forgot. Oh, yes.
that?
Now I remember. Yes. Yeah. It was not very fun. She didn't like it. No. Dino Farmers though, Dino Farmers this is we're going to have a string I think of rolling rights here. Oh, good. Uh so Dino Farmers here this is primarily a solo one is what I was picking up on it, right?
asymmetrical co-op. Right or you can because every sheet is different or something like that. So if you're playing it cooperative then you just play it separately.
Here's the thing I don't I don't like the look of this game. There's just something about the art that I don't find appealing. But then I clicked on and like every other one that they had done I thought looked really good.
Oh, interesting. Really? Yeah. It's like those kind of all look better. So many roll and writes like that.
those look better to me than than this.
That's funny. So you just don't like the the This one just doesn't appeal to me. Yeah. I like it. I think this is this is a cool way to do I think caveman you know this kind of dino era you know kind of stuff. So it's not like stupid looking caveman you know what I mean? Like I really like that.
Geico game. Right. But
I don't get what you mean. You like that style that art style is that what you mean?
This one I like no I think that I yes I don't mind that but it's nice to see caveman not looking dumb. You know I don't like that caveman right here. These guys have they're on the ball. They know what they're doing. 100%. Huh. Okay.
It looks almost fun. I love the art but I'm not sure what you're noticing that you're like "Ah, caveman aren't stupid. That guy is working on his PhD." I don't know what you mean.
but he doesn't look like you know, a lot of times I feel cavemen just look like like trying to hit with the hammer, you know, like that. They don't look like that.
Okay, okay, okay. Maybe. These guys They discovered the Pythagorean uh theorem along with the fossils. It looks like French art to me. I think that's why you like it.
yes. I take it back. He looks derpy. Never mind. I take it back.
Okay. And then what about the guy right below him? Well, there's a brain scholar for you right there. There's a brain surgeon.
He has a lizard friend. I think the lizard has more brain cells than the guy. Let's be clear.
This right here does have a little bit where you have to draw stuff, but so far what I was seeing it was pretty simple drawings. I like roll and writes where it has the two separate maps that you have to connect together. So, this one This one was interesting.
such a low barrier to entry. If it looks interesting to you at all, you can be like Joey, buy it, never print it, never play it. You're only out $10. You could do that. I will say because it's so easy to I'm not I'm not saying this game is easy to make, but they're so easy to get out there and there are so many of these you be you you do have to become a little more um uh discerning, I guess, on which ones you're backing and which ones you are choosing to get. I would I would pass on this one based on the theme. I don't like this theme. Yeah, dinosaur, caveman, I don't care. You know, it's it's okay. Some of the other ones like you you know, like you said, Mike, the other ones in the uh the company there's some monstrous ones, some spooky ones. I'd be more into that stuff. Interesting. I think I'm in this one because of the theme. But I tend to like the dinosaur. I I I tend to like caveman, Neanderthal, the the weirdly intelligent caveman.
Caveman's working on a PhD. I got to type. And an upcoming game that
Professor Professor Ook. Yeah, yeah. PhD. Many letters in his name as in his title. That's great, yeah. Yeah. Oh, he's an MD. Another one right here. Hi, a roll and write beehive simulator. This is also a roll and write, right? Roll and yeah.
Yes. This has This is making $200,000. This is already That's cozy. Right? There there was already a hive game, a roll and a roll and write print and play, I believe. Maybe not print and play. Um it should be like down a little bit more, the last one. There it is. So, this came out and it was and it was successful. So, but it looks like what they're doing here is they're maybe re-releasing that. Then they're doing one that's a coloring version, so you can kind of have it a combination roll and write slash coloring. Then maybe like a new one and then a compendium that has all of them together. There's like Yeah, cuz there's all these different editions, but what was throwing me off and maybe you guys understand this right here. So, when you come down to you know, this which one is for me kind of chart, a vibrant coloring game. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Okay, they're all vibrant.
Complexity, simple, simple, medium, medium.
Okay. I mean, as you're looking at this, I don't see a difference between the coloring and the casual. One you color and one you don't.
But they're both Yes, coloring. Oh. But then when you look They all have the same categories, the same answers to every category.
what the So, do the last two. I know Yeah, so these are the same and these are the same, but not really.
then.
But then you look at addition contents, the coloring edition comes with 13 pencils as opposed to six. But then you get more dice in the casual one. So, why don't you need dice for the coloring? I'm Because they're both just one-player games. So, I appreciate you trying to give me the chart um You need to consult a caveman for your charts. Hypothetically, if I was a caveman, explain this to me in a way that I would understand what I need.
I could tell you what There's enough people that understand it that they've dropped 200 Gs
That is impressive. That's a lot of Gs. That is a lot. Each one now that each one is more pricey than like a you know maybe some roll and writes out there. You know they're like 36 bucks.
They're yeah 38 each.
38 yeah. So it's a little bit more but you're getting it looks like maybe a better maybe a standard reproduction is a little bit higher. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe they'll say how many people are getting single ones? 50? 112? 139? 331? Okay but then if you look at the compendium 642 and the collector's edition 630. And so I think that's that's my problem is I just I don't know what to get. I think that this I think the game looks really interesting. I think it's a gorgeous production. I love roll and writes. I I like this idea of having another activity where you're coloring along with it but help me out. Don't say none of them. Don't break my heart. Don't do it.
Get the caveman game for $5.
This is way too much. I'm sorry. This is a lot for a roll and write. Oh but you get to color. I can do that in every roll and write. I just need some colored pencils.
It's so pretty though. I I don't even mind. I color on my Arc Nova board all the time. Mhm. Look at this donkey.
My hippos have some burros. Um the legacy also is not a legacy game.
It's not a legacy game. It's called legacy edition. Maybe that that word maybe should be off limits.
It's more campaign.
Might say heirloom. You say heirloom heirloom edition. That sounds lovely. That sounds like I got to pay more for it and that's what you want.
it's more campaign right cuz it's like different scenarios and scenario. Yeah it's a campaign not a legacy. Well it is a legacy? No it's a campaign.
Legacy means you have to physically destroy everything in the Actually I guess so now cuz if it's a roll and write then it would be legacy cuz it's a campaign where you're writing on the sheets and you can't reuse them so it'd be legacy. What if I erase the sheets? No you have to use pen. How is legacy
comes with pen. Check the chart. Is Legacy spelled with All right, maybe we'll have to I'll step back slowly from the beehive.
I I think this is one I'm very interested in. But jumping into a $38 roll and write price point, I would want to play the original game and I I I would be out cuz I don't know what edition to get. But clearly I'm dumber than, you know, 1,900 other people.
I applaud the theme. I applaud the graphic design. I think that it is definitely unique and sets itself apart. I'm not terribly interested. Would Jane Austen play it? Then I'm not going to play it. No, we got to wait for that one. All right. Back to Regicide, a game you guys both like, right? Regicide Inferno and Regicide Crown Jewels. Yeah.
So you've played Mike Legacy. I have not shut up about it. It's Oh, shut up about it.
Then you haven't played Regicide.
I've played Regicide.
played it if you haven't played the game.
With a deck of Spanish cards. Oh, muy bien. No, this is two new games-ish.
One is closer to Regicide, Regicide Inferno, but it has a new suit. Yeah.
That is maybe a thing that was in Legacy. I don't want to know. I don't want to know.
refuse to acknowledge whether it is or is not. Um so that seems cool. It's like a fancier sort of, you know, Regicide plus, right? If you would.
Yeah. It just gives you a new suit and Yeah. And they do a new they do a new thing. And then the other one, that Crown Jewels, is a whole different game. It's a two-player game. But I love love love that they put that their their best foot forward there and tell you you can play this with a deck of cards. Here's the rules.
They've always done that. It's It's
And if you like it, you can get our deck, which is prettied up. That's the way the whole Regicide thing started. Take any standard deck of cards. Here are the rules. We just happen to have this amazing artist, Sketch Goblin, here.
Sketch Goblin. So,
we feel that, you know, the game is good enough, the rule set is good, maybe you'll want to support us, and it's worked for them because they've really gotten Badger from Mars, the the publishers, they've really grown, you know what I mean? And and that Regicide Legacy, we've reviewed it on the channel, if you're interested. It's a It's a very ambitious production and design, and it's amazing how much you can get out of a standard deck of cards. It plays so quick, though, too. I've seen like 30 minutes here? It's also
Yeah. remarkably difficult. So, Regicide Regicide is Well, that's what I'm saying. Just in general, Regicide is very Yeah, Regicide is easily may- maybe top 10 hardest co-ops ever.
It's really hard. Yeah, it is so difficult. I mean, it's still like the journey is worth it, but it but you have to, you know, beating every character, like winning, good luck. I've never won that game. I still I'm not sure anyone has. Was that on our top 10 hardest co-ops that we did last Let's not talk about that. It's really a solo game. I think you can play this Yeah, you can play you can play multiplayer, but it's Okay. It's a solo game. No, it's not. No, it's definitely two plus. It's a solo game.
All right. All right, back over to Gamefound here. We have Brass: Pittsburgh. I think every week for the last 3 weeks, somebody comments back, "Why do they cover Brass? Why do they cover Because we cover games that are ending in the next 7 to 10 days."
Look, this is us covering Brass. Let's move on.
not more than 7 to 10 days, I should say. So, this one's down to five. So, here we are, Brass:
still hear about this? Making five and a half million dollars. Did you just Oh, oh, Bra- oh, Birmingham or Pittsburgh or whatever. Who cares? So, Also, Brass, it shouldn't it be steel? Yeah, well, you know,
The harbor? They definitely are are, you know, Brass is now, I think, a system. Mhm. Right. Yeah, yeah. Uh it's
It's to be a pandemic. I would I'd see that I would play.
Mhm. So, look, Brass Birmingham, which was the kind of the first iteration on the design that Roxley put out. Originally, you had Brass way back in the day, Mayfair, I think. Martin Wallace. Heard of him.
And then Brass Birmingham was a re-kind of implementation of it where the Roxley guys, and I think they shared some designer credit with with Martin on that. And then now you've got this, which is, you know, still Martin Wallace has his name on it. I mean, not sure how much, you know, I again, I don't know if he's still heavily involved in the design process. I have no idea. But, it's using a lot of the central core mechanisms from what I understand. Look, here's the thing. You know whether this game is for you. I agree. If you know, then you're probably backing it also. It's it's making five and a half million dollars.
Yes. Shut up and back it, or shut up and don't back it. The point being, shut up. It's very pricey. Mhm. How much is it? Is it a lot of money?
It's a lot of money.
for the collector's edition.
the regular edition is 85 maybe through this campaign.
right on par with these big Euros, right? I mean, it's it's a lot, but it's not out of the ordinary. I'm getting ready to say that that Roxley Yes. They have pretty unassailable productions. I mean, It cannot be assailed. Now, you can go crazy. But, here's the thing I think a lot of people were upset about. Or a few very loud people are upset about, which is that the deluxe edition, right, which is a hundred some odd dollars, does not include any of the iron clays. It doesn't include any of the metal stuff. That $60 is in addition to the 120 in the deluxe
Yeah. The collector's doesn't come with What's the jump include from 85 to 125? What's that include? We're looking at it right here. Okay, here we go. Here's a chart. Let's see if this can be deciphered.
Oh, this is Brass Birmingham. Yeah, that was Nobody cares.
Well, Brass Birmingham, the the one the original Brass Birmingham came with the Iron Clays and was 100 bucks. Yeah, but that was decades ago.
I mean, we Yeah.
A virtual generation ago. Did you lose uh the Did I lose what?
Oh, you're still in it. Okay. So, the Collector's Edition has the hardwood tiles. So, you get the wooden
Yeah. Uh-huh.
upgrade.
That's a big upgrade.
the new Brass, right? This is the Collector's Edition.
You're looking at, but you're looking at Birmingham.
Oh, yeah, I don't know. I haven't found the other one yet. No.
You can click it on the left there. It says Brass Pittsburgh Collector's Edition down there.
just the rewards. That's not a chart.
Oh, but it doesn't allow you to
of Brass editions and it takes you to Brass Birmingham. So, I'm guessing
Okay, yeah, maybe. Keep going. I don't know.
I don't Just going to scroll. I don't like this. Which way are you scrolling? I don't know. Am I going up or down?
know. I'm trying to mimic you. I think the wood tiles, I think even in this edition are the big difference, but there is I'm sure it's on there somewhere.
we were looking at earlier said like $0 for the the wood, and so I think it comes with wood, but I don't know. $0? Nothing's free in this world.
$0? That's all free. I mean, we can look right here and Yeah, 125, I believe does not come with the Iron Clays or the metal coins, but did it not have more at the bottom? Under Under this right here? I don't know. No, when you'd clicked on the actual pledge.
No, it did not.
Again, now we're spending three months time on Pittsburgh.
Yeah. If you want it, you know you
You already backed it. Oh, yeah. Actually, I still Birmingham. Okay. Yeah.
Is they putting out new editions of the old games is what it is. Yeah, I think they are. Yeah, they are. Yeah, they are. They are. Yeah, they are. Well, then that 5 million is a little misleading.
It is. It is.
Cuz you know people that had the deluxe uh the original got it again cuz they're
because they are sheep, I'm going to say.
oil has been soaked through their pores and they now are addicted to the oil.
Yeah, man. They have an octane rating that's much too high. I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE. IF YOU HAD A MILKSHAKE. I found And I drink your milk. You found it. I did find I found the graphic.
Okay, what is it? For $125 you get to choose a cover. That's cool. Okay. Okay, right.
Yeah. That's going to be a shipping nightmare bucks.
metal tins.
Embossed metal tins.
Okay. PVC resource trays.
Okay. Sturdy base, right? Sturdy base. Okay. And it gives you a box for the iron clays but not the iron clays. So, that's I think what a lot of people ooh.
Ooh.
Yeah, wooden money. Okay, that's better than, you know. And then you get of course, you know, not the iron clays.
wooden bits. Okay, that's a little pricey. I'm sorry. That's it's 125.
Yeah. Yeah.
Mhm, that's a little pricey for me. I'm going to pass. I was going to back it. Now I shan't. I shan't. We're not going to back it. I'm not going to back Brass.
I've not played any of the Brasses. It's not one I've ever been super interested in.
OG Brass. I didn't play the the Birmingham or the Lancaster Lancashire Shire Shire Shire.
It is never Lancashire. Yeah. Lancashire. Lancashire. Mhm. All right, let's move on. We spent 40 minutes on that. All right. The Great Sea and Towers of Sifnos.
Sifnos.
Sif Sifnos.
comes after the S. Sifnos. Sifnos.
Sif Sifnos. Yeah. Towers of Sifnos. Yeah. Oh, now you're just showing off.
the Towers of Sifnos? No.
They are gorgeous.
real thing or is it
it highly. Oh. It might be it's These are all ancient
I've seen the Great Sea.
Yeah. It's great. Yeah, that's what we're going to be sailing on it. Dice Tower Cruise. So, two new games from Garphill. Okay.
we talk about the games
Okay.
talk about how they split the page in half and how much of a huge fan I am of this? You're giving me two games. You show me the games at the same time. I love that, man.
Side by side. I love it cuz I If it's If it's top to bottom, I only ever look at the first one. And if I'm out on that one, I don't keep going or I forget there's a second. I love this.
Also, I'm able to read the left with my left eye and the right with my right eye concurrently.
Multitasking. I love it.
it at the same time.
Anyway, I stole your thunder. Tell us about the actual games, not the fantastic page design. So, Garphill, you know, you know if you if you know their games, then you kind of know what they're about. They usually put out a couple of of projects a year. They're very well known for their projects deliver on time. Um they are Euro games pretty much through and through. Uh this one looks like um kind of a a little bit of a of a difference between the two, whereas the Great Sea looks like it's more of like an area majority area control maybe heavier game. Towers of Cithnos looks closer to kind of what they've done with their um you know
The solo ones, too, right? Isn't that
bit. Yeah, a little bit. But yeah, I think they're both multiplayer games. But that one has more of a of a vibe of like some of their other uh you know West the the their direction types games. But anyway, I think they both look very good. I'm mostly interested in the Towers of Cithnos. That's the one that appeals to me a bit more. Great Sea also though, I mean, I I will hopefully play them both. Um So, one of them had like a little bit of a solo bend to it.
It might It might be the Cithnos. I I don't think you can play Great Sea solo. Okay, that one's cool.
Great Sea, I love the visual look of Cithna of um Great Sea, but I think mechanically Cithnos is the one that I'm a little more interested in.
And these are both in their ancient uh civilizations. I think the first one of these was uh Raiders of Scythia, which was a redo of Raiders of North Sea. And then you had Hadrian's Wall, which was very clearly a solo game. Um and
Legacy of Yu.
Legacy of Yu was another one in that line. And and so these are both in that line, yeah.
of those, I just want to know who's doing their photography. These are some really cool, like anyway, really well done to whoever they got to do this.
have really good pages and pages and and yeah, no, I And the other thing I appreciate about them is that they come right out and say, "Look, why would you back this? These are the reasons why. If you don't back it, that's fine. Get it another way. You can get it directly from them." The one thing that I'm a little bit uh worried about, quite honestly, with this one is that they do say here that they have not signed an agreement with Renegade yet to have it in North America retail. Okay.
So, if you want it
So, I yeah, this is one where I'm like, "Okay, this one, you know, I actually, I'll be honest with you, I usually tended to back them because I just like their logo on it anyway." Nothing against Renegade, but it was Garphill's first. So, I'm putting their logo on the box. So, you're backing it. Twice.
I may back this one.
You're opening your own store to sell this.
I'm I'm I'm burying the lead here, but this is one I'm very much considering backing. And I only I told you, I only backed four things last year. I'm not going as crazy as I used to.
Does this count as backing one or two? I'd be backing both. So, that'd be
So, that counts as backing two, then. You're probably backing two.
this year. Well, well, It's only April. I know. We'll see. All right, uh gentlemen, back over to Game Found here. Here to Slay: Dungeons, coming from Unstable Games, which is the uh T Turtle, right?
T Turtle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've played a couple of their games. I've played a couple of their games. I don't think I've played Here to Slay, but I've played some of the other ones, and they're they're okay. They're just very okay. They're clearly the look of the game and the vibe of the game first. Uh and then the gameplay is sort of secondary to that. They're fine. It's not trash. They're not horrible. They're just not that's not where the games shine, you know? Um but people love them, clearly 4 million. 4 million, is it name recognition? What do you think? Do you think so? Okay. And and yeah, I mean it looks it looks really cute. I mean I mean it's it's probably a very approachable would be my guess type of a dungeon crawl thing, you know? This is also a follow-up to Here to Slay, which already has a built-in audience.
Sure. That's true.
This isn't a new thing for them. It's a It's a return to. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, it's it's cute. Yeah, and I mean I suppose I would play it. I mean it's not like I would not play it. It doesn't It's nothing that I'm like jumping, you know, for joy at the chance to play, but I would certainly try it.
I think that's where I am. It's like, "Oh, sure, I'd I'd try this. I It looks cute enough, but it's not one that draws me in."
little card thing there. I mean that's a nice little usability thing.
some cute uh production things, for sure. But I think I I think I have a hard time distinguishing this between this and Slay the Spire. And Slay the Spire looks more engaging to me. Like the type of game? Everything. Like just knowing the games, I can't remember which is which. You know what I mean? Um I don't have a huge connection to the video game of Slay the Spire. Got it. Okay, cuz they don't really look alike. This These guys That's the one thing they have is their T turtle look is you know, it's so unique. It's so specific to them. Like if you see a shirt out in the wild, you know, it's or somebody's ripping them off, you know, it's from them. Their games all look alike. The flip side of that is their games all look alike. And I I know I played a deck building one, for example.
It might have been this one. I don't remember. They all look alike, you know? So I think they, unfortunately, do a lot of fantasy with their characters.
Yeah, they do.
And I wish that they would take their style and you know, kind of like hit up different settings that are different enough that I'm like, "Oh, that's the Cyberpunk one."
Yeah. Cuz it's Is it not a world they've created? Sure. Okay, so you're just wanting them to like step like step out of that world, then. I don't know if it's a world. It's like this
the question. Is it a world?
Like their art style. This is all based on their art style.
it. There's not like lore behind I I I'm genuinely genuinely asking. I'm not the Lord of the Rings. There might be a lore, but it's I don't know. I can't I mean that's my question. I mean I'm genuinely like have they Is that why they're not stepping out? I don't know why they're not stepping out. My point being they all look alike to me. And I think unfortunately what I'm saying is I also put Slay the Spire in with them. Like I have a hard time Slay the Spire standing aside or apart from it cuz to me it's like, "Oh, they're both kind of dungeon crawly kind of games and they're cute little monsters."
Spire maybe or that's got to be it. Yeah, yeah. They don't really look alike, but
Yeah, they do to me. I don't know. Um Where's the caveman? Uh all right. Next up is Deep Rock Galactic. This one's interesting because it's just the figurines and I'm shocked at how well it's doing to be just the figures. It's a very popular game.
Yeah. Yeah. And it's one of those I guess it's one of those things where if you know you like the game and you can get this kind of a visual upgrade, you know, it's going to be attractive to you, I think. Now, it's a lot of dough. Um but you know, are these These are pre-painted, right? Or
thinking they are. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah, it's a lot of money. Again, if you This is your favorite game and you want to deluxe-ify it, there you go. I'm surprised this many people want to do it, but that's cool. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's look, it's doing well. It's doing well. And the funny thing is it's like it's just the context of what it is, right? Because if you looked at these, right, which are nice-looking, you know, kind of like molded miniatures, you know. But if you sold these in a pack that was not connected to any board game or IP at all, I feel like you'd be paying about 25, 30 bucks for a set of toys. Mhm. They're not figurines, they're just like toys that you can Am I wrong? Maybe it's the Maybe it's the scale. Maybe they just can't produce it on the scale that like a toy maker would or something.
the price on these though? Yeah, they're not cheap, right?
No, they're like $88, I think.
I'm saying.
And maybe, you know, I'm I am speaking out of ignorance here. Maybe they are much higher quality, much better detail than you would get at something like that, but I don't know. I don't know. At a certain point I just I'm like, this almost gives more toy to me than You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
It's a collector's uh Yeah, yeah. And I'm a collector, I get that.
And to be fair, this will appeal to people that play the game, the the board game, and people that play the video game. If you're a video game collector, That's true. That's true. You know, if you want to have a I don't know, these characters on your shelf, and you're a video game streamer, then cool. You'll back it and put it behind you. That's true. The collector's bundle is $321. I was I was going to see how many of them are if there was like a retailer's pledge, cuz how much of these are we going to see in, you know, the nerd stores. Wow. You got to dig a lot of gold for that. I love I love nerd stores. Uh next up, Company of Heroes: Desert Warfare Expansion and Reprint. Company of Heroes. This is very popular. I I don't tend to ever see it getting played because I don't think that necessarily It almost seems like a It's Is it more war gamers do you think that are playing this, or do you think it's more miniatures? To me it looks almost more like a miniatures game. Mhm.
But I don't know.
Yeah, I think I feel like it might be more miniature gamers than war gamers. I mean, it's obviously a war game, that's the theme. I don't know mechanically how how demanding it is. Um It's another one based on an IP. There's a lot of, you know, these intellectual property things. Maybe this is one that kind of crosses into both and that's why it is so we keep see not seeing it, but it is surviving, you know,
Yeah. Yeah, it is thriving, you know. Yeah, I just think that maybe it's slightly outside of mainstream tabletop board gaming. Maybe it I don't know. Cuz I don't ever see anyone playing it is what I'm getting. Right, right. Well, there's also a lot of games that I feel get played at in homes
Yeah. that are not the kind of game you take somewhere and play in public.
That's fair. Mainly because moving it is a hassle or setting it up and tearing it down is a hassle or whatever. This is perfectly in that category. I don't expect to see anybody playing this. It doesn't mean it's not getting played.
Right. Okay.
Yeah. All right. Yeah, it's doing well, very well. I mean, it looks like a nice production. Dusk Runners I only run at dusk. Do you know that? Do you? Do you run? I only No. Oh. I also
But if you did, it'd be at dusk.
It'd be at dusk. How long does dusk last? What, 20 minutes? That's That's about as long as I'm going to run. That's why I only run run at dusk. I like the look of this one. It's sort of a dungeon crawler, story-driven sort of game. Um The idea that you're building up a map and then moving around exploring those places sort of felt to me or sounded to me a little bit like Max from Apocalypse. Yeah, I could see that. Which is, you know, very random game in many ways, but it is fun and thematic and involving and this one kind of has that look. I like the theme here quite a bit. I like the idea of as you're moving around you draw the cards from underneath locations and then have a little in story encounter with that or a little mission you have to deal with. Um neat weird artwork and setting.
Again, sort of feels like a video game in many ways. It's not. I don't think this one's based on anything. Yeah. But it has that look and feel. A video game or comic book even. You know, cuz I could see it. Yeah, it looks I I I really like the aesthetic of the game. I like the look and and you know, the the It's just very evocative, you know, but but it looks similar other things but not I can't say it's like this it's like this it's reminiscent of like maybe Radlands a little bit but not quite so saturated. Yeah. But it has you know, I don't know. It's a it's an it's a good looking game. I'm not sure about the gameplay for me. I didn't look that deeply I think as you did. Um but it looks interesting. It caught my eye so I was sort of intrigued by it. Um They had a good graphic here kind of going over it and it left me wanting to know more. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love it.
I love anything pulling shits out of a bag, you know, that kind of stuff. I I like that. Yeah. It looks good. All right, next up Cosmic Horror supernatural horror in miniature. Mhm. Mhm. 200 page core rulebook. Because it's really an RPG, right? Yeah. So but that is a hefty hefty read. There's also a line and and and and this is going to be different for everybody. This is probably a me thing. Where you are trying to hit a a nostalgic old look and I feel like maybe you missed the mark and you just look old. Oh, yeah. To me this just looks like something that really comes from the era they're trying to avoid. If you were to tell me this is a replay I'd be like oh back again. I'd be like yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's just my that was my only thing there.
That's that's a good good way to put it, yeah. Um It looks interesting and it looks like something that'd be fun for somebody else to undertake and then teach me how to play. I mean you guys both like like the Arkham universe Well, you know you know what I'm saying. Like this has no interest at all to you, right? An RPG in this setting? No, I think RPGs
tons of them, right? Look, at the end of the day, a lot of the settings I really enjoy I think make for terrible RPGs. I think Arkham anything, cosmic horror anything is a terrible setting for an RPG. What am I supposed to do? Crap myself and then die? That's stupid. I don't want to I don't want to I don't want
I don't want to play Roll for it. I don't want to play a role-playing game in a in this kind of setting, you know what I mean? Uh
I get you. I get you. It just just doesn't work. It doesn't work. For me, personally, I'm not interested in the stories you can tell because if I even deviate a little bit into anything interesting, you die. Your brain explodes. It's so so stupid. So, this might be a fantastic RPG. I just don't have any interest.
Okay. All right. Uh all right, next up is another I was not doing as well as I thought it was, but In Propriety, for some reason I thought this one was doing better. Um In Propriety, a Regency era game of story, scandal, and sabotage. I am unfortunately not interested in this, and I think it's just the more I look at it, the more I'm baffled what it's trying to be. It's so easy, but then you don't tell me what it is, and it's just it seems like it's trying to sell on nothing but the theme, and I'm like, I'm sorry. We have Obsession. Obsession is a fantastic game, and I'm not saying that there shouldn't be more set in this era and stuff, but tell me why you stand apart at this point.
It looks just like a roll and move. It looks like Monopoly kind of. It does.
It's not, but
but it's like but if you're going to it seems like it's selling just simply on the theme, and it's like, you have to give us more than that. So, here's the thing I want to be careful of because I really had some strong pushback, you know, initially when I looked at it and it didn't really go away, but I want to be clear that yes, I get there are 800, if not more, fantasy themed board games for every one of these. I get that. But there's also a line, I think, that you have to be careful of crossing and this just this feels pretty derivative to me. This whole page feels derivative. I feel like I saw this exact page for a completely different game about 3 weeks ago.
What was it? Yeah, it was by the um The people that did the botany game.
Yes, I can't think of what it was called, but yeah. The white gloves. 100%.
The the the teapots and the doilies. It's like at a certain point, I mean, I understand you're going for an aesthetic and it's it's a nicely done page, but I feel like I just saw this.
Yeah. Mhm. It feels just a little too derivative to me. Um and also the the gameplay, I mean, say what you will. I I mean, I I think Obsession is a really solid Euro game.
Right.
Like and and it has, you know, a setting setting? A setting. A similar setting. Um but yeah, I don't know. This to this to me I just was like, okay, I really feel like they're they're pushing the theme and the aesthetic over everything else.
That's the thing. At this point, I mean, it seems like they're trying to sell on theme and but there's no game behind it. You know, we have
Yeah. options. I have not read the rules, but just the way they're describing it to me, I should feel like oh, okay, I can see what they're doing here. To me, it's like they don't say roll and move exactly, but that's what you're doing. It's it's something like that. It's like roll and choose. Yeah, yeah. Roll and choose. Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I mean, it's right. Yeah. Yeah. All right. And then we have Mr. Meeple Board Game Geek Wear. So, this is the Is it annual? I feel like it's a little more than annual that we have
not be exactly annual, but yeah, it's pretty pretty regular.
right? Yeah. So, another round of some board game merch. Mhm. Yeah, and look, I mean, they they have uh delivered on tons of product uh projects, right? So, I think um if you it's all about do you like these designs, right? If you like these designs, I mean, why not back them? Um I like that board game freak. I like that. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, and I believe that um doesn't Mr. Meeple have a booth at Essen? I think it's Essen. Yeah. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah. Yeah, so I've seen I haven't worn, I don't think, any, but I've seen them in person. They seem to be nice quality uh designs and I mean, this one is really cool, too, the worker. I like that. And the hexes. I think that was cute.
one above it, the meeple one, that's popular every year because it's that whole thing where they take the games and
Yep. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Make it with uh popular games, right?
Right, right, right. Meeple art to do list.
Yeah. So, again, if you like these designs, you know, then there's no reason not to. I see a lot of that isometric view. I like that a lot.
Yeah. I like that's cool. Yeah, there's some neat ones. Mhm. And next up is a RPG that we're going through. This is a a new in that setting, I should say. So, Pirate Borg, we have our RPG in Pirate Borg, and this one is Winds of Hell. So, the demonic campaign with bloodthirsty undead. Can you just switch into this one, next one? Just immediately take your characters and now you're in the Winds of Hell?
Yeah, I actually might not.
could say we're sailing. I suppose we could sail here. Sail the Winds of Hell. Yep, so it's airships. I like it. It's a very um you know, it's going for a very specific kind of theme here, right? But it seems to fit their the the system of just based on watching what you guys do, right?
Yeah. Yeah, it seems I I think I'm liking it's a simple system. And I I mean that to its benefit and credit, not like it's too simple. I like it's an approachable sim um system. I mean, we just talked about that other one that was a 200-page rule book for it. This is not going to be a 200-page rule book. You know, I like that a lot. Yep. Um but I think that's going to do it. Yeah, that's going to do it for our gaming projects. So, before we jump into some silly ones and gets to the pick of the week, let's go back to Tom for a spotlight. In the 16th century, if you were a trader, Goa was the place to be. And this game, originally published in 2004, is coming back. From Queen Games, known for such classics as Carnegie and Super Meeple, designed by Rüdiger Dorn, known for games like Louis the XIV and Istanbul, this is a remake of the classic game Goa. The original game from 2004 is unchanged in how it plays, although there is an amazing new look put upon it by Queen Games. Check it out. If you've never played this game, it is a strategic game with two day and night cycles, each cycle taking place with four rounds. In each round, there is an auction where players going to be auctioning off tiles, being the auctioneer, hoping to get it for a reasonable price, but also happy to sell it to another player for a good amount of money. You'll also be able to take actions, and all these actions revolve around a progress board. A game where
you're moving up on each of different tracks, which will make your actions, such as building ships, producing goods, collecting taxes, exploring and establishing outposts, making them better as you go through, as well as scoring points at the end of the game. If you don't like some of the randomness in the original game, there's also a planned expansion variant included, as well as a full solo mode and a solo campaign mode. There's also two modules included, and the tiles can be gotten in either a wooden tile version or premium acrylic. You can try the game right now on Board Game Arena, but you can also check it out on Game Found right now. Back it, the new version of Goa from Queen Games.
All right.
for the new version of Goa. Yeah. I haven't played it. I haven't played it. Yeah, it's cool. I'm glad that's back or coming back. Very nice. All right. So, jumping back into some silly or not game-related project. Starting out with a musical one that you cannot get even though it does say back this project.
Yeah. It is sold out.
Yeah. Tembo. A new musical instrument and I fell super stupid looking at this. So, Mike, tell me.
I I'm not a musician. I think, you know, we we have some that work here, but I I have enough of an idea kind of that this is kind of like a almost a sequencer. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, right? Where you're you're you're placing these magnetic pieces and it's going to you can create loops.
Yeah, it's a looper. Yeah, sequencer or whatever. Yeah, it's kind of like, you know, if you've ever messed around on something like uh Acid Pro or any of those kinds of programs, then this is simulating that electronic interface uh in you know, IRL basically. You're putting the pieces on there. You can uh assign a specific, you know, sound to a track. You can record your own. Right, cuz it has a midi You can loop it. You can do whatever you want to. Uh it it it's really cool. I thought it was awesome.
gorgeous. I love the look. Yeah, you know, I I 100% agree. This is like a piece of art that is very usable and what I like what they're doing is like if you already are a musician, this is going to be just something that's kind of like a showpiece, right? You're not going to probably use this as your main gear, right? But if you're a kid and you just kind of fool around with it and I I think kind of what they're saying is that you can you know kind of learn without even necessarily knowing that you're learning and that's kind of like a you know that's the holy grail you know what I mean is if you can get people at learning something and they don't feel yeah they don't feel that that like the chore of learning um it's I think this is a really neat looking project and obviously other people agree if it's making millions of dollars and now you have to pre-order it Yeah yeah It's obviously something that has something to offer there Yeah it's pretty cool
it's neat Next up ironic
Isn't that ironic?
It's ironic
think?
It's ironic the next gen is
It's a vacuum steamer so it's not blowing the air it's sucking the fabric to it and I so it's ironing through vacuum power instead of through pushing power I guess that's the I guess that's the thing cuz I was like why what Yeah Like why are we covering a steamer it doesn't I mean it's just like okay and I guess it's that whole vacuum thing it's a I guess you can use it as a vacuum right or you can use it in ironing mode which probably means that it's blowing out I'm guessing at that point or but like it when you I think when you hold it up it's actually like vacuuming it into it so that it's also steaming it but no cuz that steam is coming out it's not I'm very confused by this project It's got steam technology is all I know It's both a steamer but
it's both see see those bottom ones I think those bottom ones are the vacuum Yeah So it's both simultaneously vacuuming and then cramming steam steam through
or does it cram the steam through and then vacuum it out which way does it go?
That would be the opposite way it would have to be
That would be a complete continual
No ecosystem
No okay
not gotten to wait till Artemis comes back then we'll have the ecosystem but yeah I don't know I mean it probably works. Steamers work. The vacuuming part is just really you helping to stretch it a little bit by grabbing it and yanking on it, I'm guessing is what the what the vacuuming part is doing. Yeah, it Sure, I can't imagine that not helping to straighten or de-wrinkle your clothing. Yeah, yeah.
way this would ever, I think, sell is if you were like at a trade show or something. It's like, "Try this steamer and then try this one. You know, yeah."
you do it on clothes that are currently being worn? I'd be willing to try.
the steam, is all. I don't know. I I I want the most efficient process possible. I want to be steaming and vacuuming my clothes while I'm wearing them.
does claim to be 70% faster. So, you asked.
you, I have so many rushed mornings. 70% less, I'm 100% in. All right. 3D printable pinball machine. This is something we've seen before. Um not this one specific one, but things like this, and I am a sucker for these things. I don't need them. I want it. I want to be into them, except I don't think they do enough. The ones here specifically, it's just like you're going to be bored after 20 seconds.
those 20 seconds would be so great.
get to those 20 seconds takes 20 hours. So, I'd really be bored in 20 hours and 20 seconds.
it. I I'm good for it. How much you're paying for the files? So, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, you are. How much is it? I'm curious.
aren't that bad. 50 50 50 dollars, you know? You can also go to the Pinball Museum and play 8,000 games of pinball for 50 dollars.
one looks like you can change it around cuz it's got that peg in there, so you can kind of You can change the peg, yeah. Also, they have one that gives you the CAD system, so you can design your own stuff.
Yeah. You know, if you wanted to do that. So, yeah, look, for people that are tinkerers, yeah, sure. I mean, you could probably make a pretty cool one. I think the ones they have on offer are too basic for me to be terribly interested, but
what I bet that's where this excels is for people who love to tinker, like you said. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I'm I'm I I'd tinker with that.
you need to get
I would tinker with that.
to get
to get a 3D printer again first. All right, last up here uh no signal, still talking. Gappa see. Gappa see. Gappa see walkie-talkie glasses. Walkie-talkie glasses. Gappa. Gappa, hello. I feel like this is just a walkie-talkie sunglasses.
Yeah, but you still need a phone. No, apparently not.
Oh. It said you need to have it to be within one with to be within a half a mile you still need
you don't need anything.
Up to half a mile.
it when it finds a signal, it spreads that open to like two and a half three miles. I have no idea how that works.
I was still under the impression that you don't need to have a signal to be within a half half mile, but you still need to have Bluetooth. Oh, okay. You still need a phone.
You still need a phone. Got it. So then I thought they said no phone.
his Bluetooth there. Yeah, but Maybe I'm wrong.
Bluetooth-ing the two glasses together, like right? It's not like a channel on a walkie-talkie or something.
No, cuz that would be too far away for that.
Yeah, it does say though that if you do have a signal, network needed. No network.
But if you do boost with cellular bars Right, then it boosts it up to three miles. Right. But why wouldn't you just use a walkie-talkie? Cuz you can't wear it on your face.
Yeah. And this is always on is the idea. So you can just be like, you know biking or running or whatever and and chatting it up. Hey, what's up? I'm ahead of you. You're slow. Here's what you do. Watch me go. You go around a blind corner and you say, "You're about to crash because you stopped."
I see.
At the corner they run right into you. I do like that and then you steal their walkie-talkie. Now you have two walkie-talkies.
Two glasses. You put them on the back you can see in front and behind you.
talk to anybody. I think that comment pretty much sums this project up. This looks like it came straight out of an 80s futuristic movie. Yes, this is what somebody thinks the future is going to be.
Yeah, you got to be riding a hoverboard if you were wearing these.
of past these, you know, I think yeah. This is This is strange. The phone has a walkie-talkie app and no one uses it. So So there's the watch. There's a walkie-talkie app on the one an Apple Watch and no one uses it. Yeah, I don't know. This is This is like a fridge with a TV built into it. That's the other thing too. If either one of those things breaks Yeah. Now you're screwed.
You don't have sunglasses?
scratch these sunglasses, you now have useless walkie-talkies. And vice versa, right? So yeah, I know. You will have burned eyeballs. Yeah.
Can't do that.
Yeah. All right, that's going to do it for our projects this week. So let's jump into our picks of the week. My pick of the week is there's a lot of good stuff this week, but Regicide Inferno and Regicide Crown Jewels. Now, I feel like there's a chance that this is kind of a step down after playing through Regicide Legacy, but and this almost feels like they're taking ideas from Regicide Legacy and or ideas that were cut from Regicide Legacy and putting them into their own little decks, but man, the artwork in this is so cool. And I like the fact that there's two different ones that you can get in here. So these cooperative games which for me, I am mostly playing these as a solo game and really enjoying to see what's added here. I thought Regicide Legacy was an absolutely fantastic game. Regicide base game is pretty fun even if I've never won, but hey, I'll still try these out. This is my pick of the week, Regicide Inferno.
Hey everybody, my pick of the week is Here to Slay Dungeons. Um I haven't really played Unstable Unicorns, I've it once, but um, this one right here intrigued me. At first I thought I wouldn't like the little cute characters, but honestly it seems like it works and they have a lot of mechanics that I like. I like the whole beatable stack and see the hit points visually as you see the monsters out there. And also they seem to do a good job with kind of streamlining it to make it a kind of what's family weight but a lighter weight dungeon crawl. The one thing I will say is the vinyls, the little characters are necessity. I don't think I could use those little wooden tokens. I hate those with a passion. I really wish they had acrylics or some other option in the middle between vinyl and those little things, those little wooden tokens. But anyway, I think this looks good. That is my pick of the week.
All right, let's start with with you, Mike. Okay, well, I kind of like I said, I buried the lead earlier. I'm going with the Garfield Games project, the Great Sea and Towers of Sifnos. And yeah, look, I kind of feel like they're a bit of a known quantity now. I've played many games by the designers that are involved in in both of these games. I tend to like their things quite a bit. I like the look. I think that for two games it's a pretty good deal. You know, if you get them both it's a bit of a discount. So, um, two what I assume are going to be really solid Euros at a price that feels fair and I know they're going to deliver on time. So, there you go. That's my pick of the week. Very nice. All right, Z. I'm going to go with the Dusk Rider Dusk Runners. Mhm. Yeah, this is a cool looking project. I like that it's seems to be story driven with an interesting amount of story. I love the setting. I love the world. Um, it's like Mike said, it reminds me of a lot of different stuff without being any one of those things. I can't quite pinpoint it.
Mhm. But it's a look and a setting that makes me want to lean forward and and invest some time in this. So, this is one I'd definitely try out if it showed up. That's where I'm at. All right. And for me, I'm going to go with Illiterati. Um this one, man, it just it just grabbed me. I was super intrigued by the word game, the cooperative element, the little challenges that are going to come as you as you play, too. You know, trying to not just make the best word possible, but have little um stipulations that you have to meet and that kind of stuff as you as you do. Yeah, this one is is intriguing and again, kudos to the project, too, for making me excited about the the old game. The original game, you know, not just the expansion. So, I thought it was really well put together and definitely definitely got my attention.
you might go with the uh Cavemen and Dinos, but no. No, Illiterati. Illiterati has got me. That does look good.
