Our Gen Con 2026 Vlog (Day 3!)

0:02 All right, so we forgot to do a talking head this morning because we're just really rushing to get out, but I think this is the day we have the least amount of things scheduled, so I might be able to see like a lot of the dealer hall, which I am looking forward to.

0:15 And good morning. This is day three of Gen Con. I'm in front of the Lucas Oil Stadium uh where the Indianapolis Colts play and during Gen Con it becomes more Gen Con, which is awesome. All right, today is a very light day as far as the events and meetings and things like that go, which is perfect. We're going to uh just walk around the dealer hall for once. So, I'll just show you some of the games we see there and then ultimately chill back at the at the hotel, swim, eat some pizza, and play some games.

0:50 Looks like the app is handing out free games. This is the crowd of people waiting to get into the dealer hall before it opens. But wait, there's another door.

1:32 But now we're together and we're going to go to see some Chip Theory stuff, so we'll see what we find out. All right, so we would just have a meeting with Game Head. This is a newer company for us to work with. Um one thing they're doing is this and it's an awesome thing which I hope publishers take note. All their boxes are the exact same size. And all play does that with the have now like several different sizes and they're getting more expensive just doing recent announcements, but all of their games literally are made designed to fit in a Kallax side by side. Mwah, chef's kiss.

2:20 So, yeah. I'm looking forward to putting them in our Kallax and just That's my favorite part like I like to review the games. Just don't review the size of the boxes.

2:29 All right, the Plaid Hat Z booth. This is our first year at Gen Con having our own booth. Uh, we are investors in the company, but uh, only because we like it. This is the new uh, Tales of Arabian Nights. Uh, Twisted Chopsticks freaking awesome. Euro We only make good games. So, come check out Plaid Hat Z. Emerson Games one of our favorite companies to work with. Uh, Dice Tower Awards they won three for this year. Um, oh my goodness. We're so happy with this game. 3:58 And in this game, you have this little broom, and you are trying to isolate some clues you think are going to give you a clue. If you don't get it within 1 minute, uh you basically have to uh you have to go to sudden death, where you reveal a card that it was on, but there's multiple choices as well you're working with. So, you keep on moving around until you figure out the clue. I don't even think this is my daughter. She doesn't even have a clue. She's moving around for fun. But, uh yeah, this is a super, super party game. It's really fun. One broom, 1 minute, one secret word.

4:30 You guys should see the all play area. It is like really busy. I mean, I just heard that they have 70 titles, and that makes a lot of sense. They have a lot of good product.

4:53 Looney Labs have been around for 30 years.

4:56 is a spatial sci-fi sandbox adventure. Uh we call it Drop Drive because at the start of the game, all these things representing asteroids and planets and pirates, you pick them all up and you shake them up in your hand, and you drop them over the sun, and they spread out and form a new galaxy that has never been created before.

6:11 I am here with the world's greatest board game personality, our superhero daughter, our youngest daughter, but not our youngest child anymore. But, she wants to tell you what her most anticipated game of Gen Con is based off of the box cover alone.

6:37 You forgot already? I think it was called Enchanted Ivy.

6:40 Yeah, Enchanted Ivy by Alderac. And the art was really good. I really liked it.

7:03 We have our cork people. I just like the comic with the large mustache is absolutely sending me every time I look at it. He's just like a villain. We are doing furry boats. And then the ticketed crafts we have our pre-actors.

7:28 And they come with a little magnet back so you can snap them on your shirt. Because who's Iron Man if you can't be Iron Man? We're doing wind chimes.

7:40 And because I, you know, had to do something I have a little light up base for them. I borrowed the doll stand from Sid's workshop, so we have turned our hacksaw loose on quite a lot of toys. Some of them are still mostly intact cuz they had screws or other electronics in it, and kids can pick up to three toy pieces. If you're running low, we have boxes underneath yet. Um the doll stand is here for dolls who need to stand up. Basically, this slides down. It can be adjustable height. And then we have Gaslands cars. Um Gaslands is a It's actually a um minis game done with Hot Wheels.

8:32 Um and you dress them up cuz it's a Mad Max style, but we made giant Gaslands cars. And then this is our terrain craft for the day. So, if you have a kid come through and they hand you a token, you're going to give them a kit.

9:32 I always like that Dryad does a Gen Con of tea, um but they are letting people buy it online now, even if you're not at the convention. So, that's pretty cool.

9:41 Wait, so it's like totally flooded in here, and above above I'm going to show you in a second is a flooded You see it's a It's a Corvette.

9:48 Totally flooded. I mean, it just is torrential downpour. So, Okay, here we go. Oh, it's a Honda Fit. So, that like that hurt my soul.

10:14 I did hear that um some of the convention hall got rained in though, that some leaked through the ceiling. I don't know if that's true. I'm going to find out tomorrow.

10:24 So, yeah, it was it was crazy. We saw lots of flooded cars. Couldn't see more than just a few feet ahead of us as we were driving on the interstate, which was rough.

10:33 And what did we do? We came back and then we swam. As if like, "Okay, it was water you know, enough water for the day hadn't happened." But, whatever. We're [snorts] going to play some games now, and probably go to bed early so we can have uh a fresh start to tomorrow, and actually get some sleep for once.

10:46 Mm, I don't see that happening. But, we are playing games, that's true.

10:50 Yeah, yeah. It'll probably go later than I expected to.
