My Top Co-op Games for Thanksgiving! - A Four-Course Gamesgiving Menu!

01 thanksgiving in the states is right around the corner and it's one of my all-time favorite holidays i mean what could be better than getting together with friends and family eating till you're stuffed and talking about all the things that you're thankful for this year that's what everybody does on thanksgiving right anyways speaking of things i'm thankful for i wanted to say that if you're watching this i'm thankful for you i know i'm new to the youtube space and i'm just trying to figure out how to be better in each video but i truly couldn't do this without my awesome subscribers so thank you and as a token of my gratitude i'm not just gonna give you a tasting flight today i'm giving you the whole menu so if you want some ideas to bring to the table this year that'll turn this holiday into a games giving then might i suggest hi i'm alex and welcome to my suggested game a channel devoted to helping you find your perfect board game today i'll be going over my specially curated gamesgiving menu and to do that i'm already wearing my special thanksgiving sweater that's a nice sweater here's how i'm going to break it down first off thanksgiving is a holiday about bringing people together so i wanted to include games that make you want to high five instead of punch each other in the face and was better for that than co-op games co-op games help everyone band together in pursuit of a shared goal and i thought that would be perfect to get into the spirit of thanksgiving so every game on this list is a different variation on a cooperative game after that i split up the list like a good thanksgiving meal into four different categories the appetizers the sides the main and the dessert each of these

32 courses has a different flavor and i tried to stay on theme as much as possible so you'll have to let me know how i did in the comments and while you're there don't forget to hit subscribe and that little bell button so you can get notified when i post new content anyways let's get into it will one of these games on the gamesgiving menu be the perfect game for you let's find out shall we for the appetizer course i thought i'd go for something light quick and very tasty that'll get you in the mood to collaborate later on so i chose the crew quest for planet nine now i've talked about the crew before on my channel so if you want to see my thoughts on one of my favorite co-op games out there then hit the link to my previous video up here anyways even though i've talked about this one before i couldn't help but include it on the list because i think it would make the perfect appetizer i mean what's the mark of a good appetizer anyways to me it's the ability to have a little bite and enjoy it but secretly want to eat so much of it that you don't have any room for the rest of the meal i'm looking at you cheddar bay biscuits from red lobster anyways the crew is just that and if you haven't heard they just came out with a new undersea themed version of this game which is definitely on my radar ah a pun intended so if you want to work together on something light and quick that'll get your games giving off to a great start then might i suggest the crew next up is the all-important thanksgiving course and my personal favorite the sides now i know everyone has their own size that their family makes every year so i just tried to

04 categorize them as best i could and match up a co-op game that i thought would fit if you don't find your favorite site on here don't worry drop it below in the comments and let me know what game you think represents it best anyways i'm just gonna go through these bad boys rapid fire style so hold on your butts hold on to your butt let's get into it before these sides and these takes get cold first up is the classic one a staple of the season and one i think should be on everyone's table that's right i'm talking about green bean casserole and the green bean casserole of co-op games it's mysterium mysterium has become a modern classic it's accessible it's aesthetically appetizing it's easy to get into plus it definitely has that seasonal vibe going on it's great for the whole family and i think it should be at everyone's table especially for games giving so if you're looking for a classic side that never disappoints then might i suggest mysterio next is the underrated one the one that i think deserves a second chance this year so come on open up your heart to the sweet potato casserole of games it's the mind extreme now this one doesn't get as much love as its predecessor the mind but i think it improves on the formula of cooperative mind reading in a way that excites me almost as much as watching those little marshmallows on top get perfectly roasted and yes i'm a marshmallow on top guy all you pecan people can take your mix nuts and eat them somewhere else or i guess you could just have both so if you're looking for an underrated gem to sweeten things up then might i suggest the mind extreme next up is the polarizing one the one that some people love and some people love to hate you know i'm talking about the cranberry sauce of co-op games and

34 that's sherlock holmes consulting detective now this immersive mystery game is admittedly not for everyone i'd say it's more of an experience than a typical game per se but the people that love it will defend it to the very end in the same way that they'll try to convince you that that from the ocean spray can is a comforting sound

59 uh i don't think i like that anyways if you want to throw your opinion in the ring for a game that gamers seem to have a lot of opinions about then might i suggest sherlock holmes consulting detective next up is one that even though it's super tasty it really only comes out once a year i'm talking about stuffing and the stuffing of co-op games for me is horrified horrified is a great co-op game it's super balanced it's got great replayability but because of the theme i really only get this to the table when i'm feeling in a spooky mood did somebody say spooky which admittedly is not that often is it a tasty game yes would i partake in it if someone else bought it to the table absolutely but for some reason horrified like my secret love for box stuffing really only gets out once a year so if you're looking for the item that's perfect for a very specific time in the year then might i suggest horrified and lastly is that quintessential item that people would honestly be mad if i didn't include in the list it's mashed potatoes and on this list the mashed potatoes of co-op games is pandemic pandemic is kind of the one that started it all it's got that essential co-op game formula that many games have tried to imitate or improve upon and just like mashed potatoes there's a bunch of different versions for people with different tastes maybe you like it with a little garlic butter or with some fancy add-ins no matter how you scoop it though pandemic is still that staple that you can always count on i mean when was the last time that mashed potatoes did you wrong so if you're about to write me an angry comment about how i didn't include mashed potatoes or pandemic then might i suggest pandemic alright the appetizer is gone the sides are on the table so you know what time

30 it is it's turkey time okay it's time to talk turkey when i was thinking about the best game to represent this course i had a lot of things to consider i needed it to be something meaty of course but it also had to have options for people with different tastes some like the lighter stuff some like the darker meat but there's something for everyone at the table and lastly a good bird is well seasoned and has elements that work together to make it good from start to finish so with all that in mind what's the co-op game that i chose to be the centerpiece of this meal it's spirit island spirit island features some amazing asymmetrical powers that really offer a plethora of gameplay options for all different kinds of players meaning that there really is something for everyone it's definitely a longer heftier co-op game unlike most in the genre and it really fills you up like any good turkey plus it's got the perfect mix of tension urgency and thematic elements that really make this one feel seasoned to perfection and good over multiple plays now the irony of putting a game on my thanksgiving list about driving colonists out of your native land is not lost on me but what better time than a colonizer's holiday to bring awareness to its origins and help write a new narrative of kindness to our indigenous peoples i love a game that makes you think and also sparks great conversations and spirit island checks both of these boxes for me so if you're ready to get into something really meaty and complex that might just help you rewrite the story of the first thanksgiving on your island then might i suggest spirit island

03 and last but not least we have dessert every time i get to the spot in the meal i always think to myself do i even have any room left okay maybe just one slice so with that in mind i had to go with the super fun co-op party game just one just one is great for the whole family and unlike most hidden word party games you're all on the same team helping each other figure it out it's super easy to pick up but it requires just enough brain power to make sure you don't fall asleep after that tryptophan hits just one is a sampler platter of all your favorites because everybody gets to participate equally in the clue writing and the answer guessing so if you're looking for a little something sweet to finish out your night on a high note then might i suggest just one thanks so much for sticking around for my four course games giving menu i hope you enjoyed it maybe you had a laugh and i hope you get the chance to play one of these games over thanksgiving and while you're there don't forget what the holiday is all about it's about giving thanks for all the good things in your life like board games for me i'm thankful for my friends my family and all the people that have come out to support me in this endeavor you guys are the best i really appreciate every one of you and i hope you have a great thanksgiving once again this has been a mighty suggested game production and i'm alex your board game sommelier signing off
