0:00 in this video we'll share you our top 10 favorite light or party games they were published in 2019 hi everyone hope you well it's Stella and tarantia from maple University welcome back to my tabletop diary or our tabletop diary last week you would have have seen our top 10 plus blast list of our favorite board games of 2019 well if not check the link in the descriptions below this video this week we're going to talk about our top 10 party games or sort of light party style games they were published in 2019 by which we mean it says 2019 in brackets next to the name on B digit yes so what is party all like games I feel like there are many they're really good that came up in 2019 so what we think if this is like a party games well generally plays higher player counts but not always or if the game has light rules or easy to play and usually generally generate love and happiness to the players as with our previous videos this is not going to be a ranked list it's very difficult to rank games so this is just going to be in no particular order and of course it is impossible to play all games so we are going to just show the games that we

1:31 play from number one Ellis in wetland so played this one quite late in the year it's sort of a pasture bucks style of game I think there was that quiz show that John Burgess hosted a while back then Australia yeah okay I don't know I'm sure there isn't one yeah basically you go to category you go around the circle you have to give an answer that fits that category but the two things this game brings firstly you've got to give answers that don't contain certain letters so that we letters on the table you've got to avoid in your answer and secondly it brings timer it's a 10 or 15 second timer which plays very jaunty little Bell tune I've got a button on the top and as you pass it around you will be resetting their tune time by that so happy I haven't seen a I don't seen a game come with a noisy timer since pizzaz almost 30 is it it's nice to see that one yeah love it enjoy your brother loves it everyone loves it as well yeah it's a little little rules as well little arm bonuses character bonuses that you can add as well as so that's correct yeah and that little 2.0 yeah yeah it really does keep you thinking quickly on your side when

3:01 you've not only got to come up with coming up with something that fits the category is not that hard but coming up with something that doesn't contain letters it's stressing out in a good way yeah you can very much get frozen it happens to me multiple times I got frozen on a couple of words had those letters and then it was just all later so far the next one is subtext so I sung the praises of subtext in our previous video yep for the same reason so otherwise you watch our top 10 videos yeah just to do a break to explain it briefly so the game is a leader gets a word then mixes that word in with some others each of the other words is distributed to another player so then everyone draws a picture of something and one of the other players will match with the leader and everyone then has to work out which two drawings match and as such everyone has to draw in such a way that it's not obvious what they're drawing and when it comes to drawing games for me no obstacle you always draw obstacle things I really enjoy drawing games where you have to be obscure or where it it makes it difficult and I was saying in the previous town I always got in trouble in fake artist goes to New York for how obscure I would write things and sometimes people would see what I was doing often they just I

4:32 don't think I've been the bad guy in that ever actually yeah but anyway really I know you have you just like people don't know because you sir consistently drawing obstacle things and they want know that you do bad guy that's not the game we're talking about subtext forces you to play that way we have a lot of fun working out how people have drawn things and where their minds have gone with drawing it correct quicker tickets it's an excellent it's really nice it's cooperative action programming games where you it has that the mind feeling toy don't you think yeah it's the mind mixed with or the robot action program yeah yeah it's so cool so play head games brought it out this you obviously and it's really really frantic trying to program and trying to move the robot level right whatever but you don't know what other people are putting so very frantic very nice you've got your cards in hand which tell you how far forward or how far it's going to rotate you play them facedown everyone can see that you've played a movement card or turning card but they don't know how far and you just play blindly like that and hope that you make the robot to its objective yeah and they've got they have nice minis in there at the different

6:02 robots I think the dog can like hold the frisbee it has to pick up or something like that yeah next one is also included in our top 10 on my list is paranormal detectives yeah really nice party game place a lot of people and you are the guys who's trying to give clues by not talking by giving like mime or like drawing or draw something on somebody else's back yeah drawing with their hand trying to make a shape with some wire ropes making a noise so many scenarios as well so you can go through scenarios and they've got a lovely app that I'm hoping that they keep adding scenarios you need to find out who made it with what I think they are five we're workers and medical means of death yes that's the next one and next one after this which one you you wanna mention it so the fifth one we'll talk there to the art box yeah okay now it's another drawing game and it's another drawing game that makes it difficult and obscure yeah they're each person has something to draw for dice are rolled and dice have circles squares triangles and straight lines and basically you must draw what you've been given with exactly the shapes that have

7:33 been rolling on those dice and then everyone will get a chance to guess what all the options and a couple of other ones will be mixed together and everyone's got a sign what people drew with what yeah the answer with the things so it's place eight plate highs up to eight players and sometimes it's very straight forward and sometimes you have to do really hard like how can you draw what you draw a toaster with two triangles a circle in a straight line yeah I tried and I think everyone got it but it did not look like a toaster I think I think one person didn't get it pretty sure yeah yeah it's it's like I got it like it's the star say surely because the options the process of elimination as well I guess which one is what you think is what yeah so it brings it brings that complexity drawing with restriction actually and with Spade as well you have to oh yeah yes as soon as you can so it's quite stressful at times on somebody finished guessing everything and then they flip they hourglass and everyone needs to finish by the time the hour gasps fishes a good drawing game that one big victory place three two sequences but really it's I think it's best to play three so it's weird three monkeys we three monkeys trying to build buildings hear no evil see no that's

9:04 officially it basically I say basically twice no three times so one person sees what you need to build together the second pair but can't talk so can only give science in science whatever and the second person can talk relying the message from the person that's trying to give science and the third person II can't see is the one that needs to build the tetris shaped like thing a very fun fun really quick party game and the shape that you need to make is quite like ah secure some not obstacle is really hard sometimes just stacking things quite high on each other sometimes they're on diagonal angles and it's you know it's a sort of thing it's a fun little filler it's the sort of thing that can work quite well as a team-building event or part of a team-building event so yeah it's just a nice nice little nice of fun and we have the green one I believe there's a big addition which we haven't played I had it similar but it's apparently poking different area of the green so that's team free mmm-hmm next one so the next one is grim masquerade that is very thematic well but like a fable a fairy tale so you can that's one of the things that I like Cinderella and I only

10:35 mostly rely the Beast and all sort of fairytale people people yeah so it's a hidden role in the role hidden information sort of game each player has a role just face down and I forget how many cards you start with but there's essentially cards with objects that are either positive or negative for that character yeah whether you need to collect it or should not collect it I've always got the cards face up you've got a draw cards give them to people yep and if you can get three of what you want you went free I think it's if you get three of what you want you win automatically if you get two of what you don't want you lose automatically yeah it's a very quick round I can remember easily exact number but mainly you need to collect roses to win so by having being the last one standing and tried not to either to get other people to guess so you need to collect this but then you also need to protect your identity so I kind of like you have to do it subtly in this some variation throughout the game as well like the in action different action that you can do and you can try to guess and you can also try to guess people if you think you know who they are yeah it's really good a place five I think but it's I would say still if my social deduction quite light so hence fit into this category that's great masquerade great artwork as well

12:07 so the next one is sushi roll now Phil Walker having done it again feel well done so it's similar to sushi go it's drafting but now it's with dice Terran I'm not sure what else to say really it is yeah no sushi sushi guy who became one of the it almost became the classic light drafting game yeah about time yeah and this is the dice you pass them to dice and you roll every time you get puff the dice and you try to collect set of things as well similar to sushi go it's did we convey about it's like cute like it's not it's not little but it's cute dies with little sashimi and whatever else it's in the tempura yeah yeah it's as easy to play as sushi yeah yeah little bit less portable but a little bit less deterministic as well because you're rolling the dice as you go along yeah and not don't forget puddings the puddings make it too fleshy roll so that's really good next one is dungeon Academy ah Huggle would like remembering playing this was this the first was this the first real time rolling right we play I

13:38 don't know oh I think it might be yeah certainly the one that first caught my attention say you roll Pacific $16 in a boggle sort of style and once they revealed you've got a trace a path through on your sheet so you've got the matching grid you trace your path through on the sheet and you've got to try to go through monsters but not too many months is that you ran out of Health so you've got to go through potions to build your health back up before you go to another monster it's so cool it's like I don't know if it's made to the mass market yet like the boxes okay but the inside it's like it really quickly it's you have to really quickly do it it's time I think it's the easy one is what 60 60 seconds and then there's 45 or plenty or something like that you have to finish entering from one side of the board and then to outside and try to kill monsters trying to not do this life it's it's yeah it's really cool it ends up being a race that's the best pick of the artifact of the goodies yeah yeah yeah I think it's easy too easy to bring out all you really need is if you've got an old bubble shaker and um the dice are those three cards as well you can just bring that out and it's a quick little game that is frantic and fun absolutely true and the final game on our list top 10

15:10 list for party games of the year is a hidden deduction game called where am I Alice at a mad tea-party so cool so what attracts me through that game first is the components that come with the game so it comes with it's a little bit maybe maybe a little bit fiddly to assemble buys comes with little table for little chairs and little do you say that was like so cute tiny little sauces yes jugs and stuff so it's got even though it's that big it's got table presence from the staff yeah and yeah the premise of the game is that you go around the circle taking one action and you can put part of the tea set onto the table or you can put one of the characters onto a chair at one of those settings or you can try to guess who someone else is everyone's got a hidden role you want to sit yourself in front of the most valuable piece set correct but if you're too obvious about it then people will work out who you are and you have to give them points if they guess you correctly so sorry good so I don't think a lot of people know about this one yet because it's it's from Japanese publisher I found out about it at Essen it was actually one of the board gaming event in the evening dice and mystics really lovely couple so anyway this couple always I uh I've got a game you're gonna you know play like I look at it like wow sure so they they're
