[Music] hello and welcome to board stupid my name is Wayne and I'm Matt and if you've been following this little series you'll know that we've been looking at games in different time frames yeah and basically getting shorter and shorter at this point we started at 60 minutes yeah we' done the 30 minutes check that out and uh we are doing the 15 minutes is it even possible so games exist that you can play in 15 minutes while you're having a coffee well I'll tell you we got 10 games five each for you so you only have 15 minutes if you can have it in your coffee break or if you got a very short lunch break at in the office no excuse you can get a game in you can still play absolutely and that's the point of this particular episode and we hope that uh 50 minutes is enough because sometimes Matt you've ordered your coffee from the Barista uh what are you going to bust out while I'm sitting at the table um probably doing some uh trains like drawing some trains okay yeah and we're talking about railroad ink railro ink you can definitely play in 50 minutes it's a very nice little roll and Bri game where you're trying to build the best fruit for your little trains on the on the map and uh it's kind of like a little bit of a puzzle element where to understand how do you want to go but it's uh pretty simple to pick up you literally like roll the dice see what pieces of the the you can do and you just draw on on the map nice and easy yeah this is the perfect coffee shop game I think this it is because it's relaxing it's not really stressful you roll the dice and you enjoy like drawing the little roots on your map like oh oh this is in the right angle I need that or this is a road or I need that I'm going to connect this over to brilliant little game yes it's um again as you say it's 50 minutes well spend and it's it's very fun still the the roll mechan rolling bright mechanism always gives like something new A new challenge a new Randomness and again there are different version of these games Lo loads of Min expansions blue the red like a yellow one there's like little tiny boxes with extra dice to add extra challenges in as well you can play this game solo if you wanted with a cup of coffee um just rolling the dice and trying to make the best root yourself um other than that it's just who has the most points so you're not really interacting anyway so it's a really nice relaxing activity that you can partaken uh yeah a tremendous game that you can play in 15 minutes man this is a great pick yeah railro Inc cool um clock is sticking so what you got yeah so railroading was too too relaxing so I I want a bit of stress in my life so this is spyall spyall five it's been around for a long old time now at this point uh and it's just a great little social deduction game this is the easiest one I think is I could possibly teach to anybody very very simple you have a deck of cards cards on which say we've got six cards five of them will have a picture of a location could be a cathedral five of them will have a cathedral on it the sixth one will have nothing on it except the word spy Spy yeah Shuff those up Dish them out the person that has the Spy card has to work out where they are first than everyone else they know where they are and you do it through the medium of communication just looking at someone and asking them a question like Matt what's the weather like today and if you're the spa you might be like I don't know uh but if you're ever else you're like we're in a cathedral how you supposed to know so uh really really clever game that is simple can teach to anybody does um involve needing to be comfortable you know just talking to people like it's a very social game I find it's always a hit with um with people that don't normally play board games as well because he so short that you can do like a run they will understand the game exactly how it works what kind of question you need to ask CU if you are too specific into a question you could come up to be the Spy because it's just like oh that was very specific doesn't really want to know this and that so it's it's how you manage that type of communication but 50 minutes you do a run and then another 50 minutes for another run so absolutely the Spy needs to work out where they are everyone else has to work out who the Spy is you could even play this as like an ice breaker in like if you got a new new team or something like that you can bust this out yeah exactly yeah yeah yeah it could be like a good office game as well absolutely good to get the communication going so uh that's my number five in it spyf all right Matt number four 15 minutes what have you got for me um so we did train before um I got another rout building game okay uh but this time we're going um East and the game is suo ah okay nice so um in suro and you basically play styles to build your own route um the game is very simple and uh but that is the beauty of the game yeah um it's not a game that you need again you don't need someone else that is really into ball game you literally explain it in 30 seconds that it's not not much more than that happening you're basically trying to build your um your route to get to the to to the victory um it's beautifully made uh it looks Gorge and yeah it's simple 15 minutes game not more than that yeah bit of a classic at this point as well nice simple game that you can learn and again uh is a more of a more of a board game game than some card game as well so this is a good good pick suro good uh number four for you number four for me again it's not a board stup list if we don't go to space at some point and we can even get there in 15 minutes I promise you and that's with a one versus one game Star Realms yeah fair stms or indeed if you don't like space you get hero Realms same game different flavor but Star Realms is a game I like kind of out fashioned these days but I think it's tremendous it's a classic deck builder very simple One Versus One Market cards in the middle you've got your starter deck you're going to be playing those cards buying new cards adding to the deck reshuffle start again with the whole intent being to blow the other person out of the sky very simple you got see you got Life Point and if you when your life points get to zero that's it that's it that's the game that's it shuffle up start again great you got different factions that you're going to be recruiting from there four different factions basically different colors and they focus on different things you've got the blob faction and they're just like heavy damage aliens which is gross you've got the I think it's the Federation faction and they are like about healing yourself again and doing and lots of trade so you can get more stuff yep and then you've got I think it's the yellow faction can't remember now don't hate the internet I play a lot of games uh which is all about like ditching cards to redraw cards and just cycling through your deck yeah like nice mechanics um but in a made in a simple way that yeah the game actually it's 15 minutes or there not much brilliantly done for that actually as a matter of fact really tremendous achievement I think Star Realms I still think it holds up to date you can pick it up for10 or your local equivalent so you got to spare 15 minutes maybe you're at the pub play little card game you want to blow your friends out the sky Star Realms so Matt after all of that space battling what else can you possibly do we coming back to her for for a rebellion basically you you can do a rebellion in 15 minutes yes we can you can Rebel in 15 minutes with unrest um unrest is a one versus one game and it's the most asymmetric games that you can think about it uh one players will play uh with cards with a deck of cards and uh playing as the rebel and the other one playing as the the Empire or the the bad guys the bad guys he plays with tokens um so it's it's uh basically is an area control where you need to control different um different Zone as soon as the rebel control three out of five zones they win the game and they do it like playing card and laying card face down on the table and um and trying to set traps and stuff for the evil empire while the Empire will will work with these tokens that some of them will let like uh blocking a zone so the the rebels cannot go in that zone to put cards uh other ones will let to look at what card has been being put down by the rebel so you know if you need to worry about that zone or not uh some others will destroy the the rebel Cs and it's it's so fantastic is like such a small game soc for that is amazing don't don't get me wrong it's not the same things but it gives me the feeling of a distilled version of Netrunner if you boiled it down really really really really brought back to like a very very small small game um but it's it's really fun to play 15 minutes Bam Bam Bam Rebellion done now now I'll play as the Empire um no it's an Absol abolutely little gem from pandasaurus and um yeah we really like the game and yeah 15 minutes to Rebel Wayne number three go the time ising and you know what I'm waiting I don't have a watch nether of us have a watch 224 I just look at my phone man yeah fair enough uh yeah well time is ticking while I'm waiting for my train and we've talked about trains quite a lot already and we're going to continue to do that with Ticket to Ride London or Ticket to Ride New York much the same thing yeah it's the micro siiz version of the game that everybody knows with the very famous very popular very excellent Ticket to Ride uh by Alan aroon and days of Wonder this is a really condensed version of it really good plays in 15 minutes it has all of the things that you like about Ticket to Ride route building but this time obviously in a little microsized 60s tube yeah in the tube or the subway depending on on which version the tube but yeah but the of course it's the London version but it's uh yeah brilliant really lovely little production um nothing over complicated you can teach this very very quickly very simple mechanism if you're no ticket to ride you're either going to draw a card or you're going to be playing trains simple in this case playing playing two TR um and that's it you're going to have root cards we encourage you to get from one place to the other they might say oh you want to get from I know Marley bone to uh Soho whatever it is and you need to like get something in between and it is uh it's brilliant it's a really condensed version can teach it to anybody there's a different flavor for you uh and it's Ticket to Ride in 15 minutes and I think it does it very well so that's my number three tickets a ride London London London so Matt we're coming up to the finish line which one gets the silver medal that just finished the race in about 15 minutes yeah it's uh really interesting that you were talking about ticket to right that we can describe it as a as a mainstream game yeah more of a mainstream game kind of yeah and I've got another mainstream game and um this kind of game like opening a little paragraph here um a lot of time I see in the community getting a little bit like nah just because they are mainstream well they're actually like very good games they're excellent games and um what I'm talking about here is C name do it so it's the two version game of of C name um again deduction world Association deduction game um in in the do version everybody knows about cop name I guess at this point if you're watching this challeng probably you know you put all the cards down one person say the words and he's going to be associated with different words on the board this is the game um uh the doet version is a co-op version is actually not one verus one but is is a Cooperative where you trying to to basically play cot with different challenges every time and um it's it's really nice me me and F my girlfriend we played like a lot of time as a as a little small things checking where waiting for the pasta to cook of course we eat a lot of pasta they tremendous tremendous game code names is a global phenomenal this point I think it basically kept keeps CG share price nice and high it's such such a good game yeah tremendous game mate and the duet version is one of the best versions of it yeah I do really like it and I think it's um absolutely great game for 50 minutes so yeah C name do it Wayne you're number two now cuz we are getting there we're getting very close to the edge we really are which one is your number two my number two we've had a little bit of stress we had a rebellion I suppose if you're doing a rebellion probably going to set a few bombs so uh and if you're the rebels you're probably want to diffuse those boms long story short my number two is a game called fuse oo fuse is a wonderful little game that you can play in 10 to 15 minutes if you really want to um almost have a heart attack brilliant it is a real time game those games are great at making you feel really stressed oh God and this one is a a great one for that it is a Cooperative game where you're trying to diffuse bombs basically you are a bomb diffuse or bomb and the theme is very thin very lightwash but the game is great you got different cards which have different symbols and different placements on it which will represent different dice that have to be stacked and placed in different ways in order to diffuse those boms and to do that you're going to be chucking dice wildly uh making sure you always reach out and throw the correct number of dice if it's the incorrect number of dice you pick them all up back in the bag start again and you're wasting time all the time it happens and there's a little app timer that comes with it you can use any timer but the app time I would recommend cuz it mocks you constantly what's taking so long you're like shut up damn it uh great uh and it might be that you're trying to do a pyramid of dice and again if you knock one of the dice off they all come off back in the bag and it is very very fun very very stressful and you will be swearing at your friends when they accidentally knock the table and knock your lovely pyramid or Tower over and you got to throw those back in the bag and it might have been the one that you needed to win great great game blazing 10 minutes real time nonsense fuse great game so Matt time's up you got to give me your number one what's your number one game you can play in 15 minutes my number one game is the same as the my number one on the two player games five two player games up there somewhere and check it out uh so if you watch that you know that the game I'm talking about is um met Marx style one versus one car game it's a great game I know it it's ratland R is aw I adore ratland um deck building hand Management Area control I shoot you you shoot me are trying to destroy your bases while you're trying to destroy M love it simple that's the the very much the the the game um again it's a car game uh I love the theme cuz the theme is is basically coming out from uh from met Max or art is amazing Feast of the Northern Star if you like if you like that Stu that style is exactly where the the game is set up and you play cards using the valuable resource that of course is water it must bealy water it must be water and the um the graphic design is probably my favorite of all time I absolutely love the the the colors and the the the quirky designs and Neons it's brilliant I absolutely love it and um One versus one is actually a tremendous game it where you're trying to build your deck you're trying to play um in the in the three rowes where you can put your your allies trying to check what the other player is is playing on in his or her columns and um it's very very strategic is can go really deep in terms of like your strategy or your tactics or what you want to do H at at the same time it's been a very very short game and really really fun I absolutely adore red L one of my favorite games ever and he plays in 50 minutes so I can play a lot of it yeah absolutely oh great pick great red l number one Wayne your gold medal goes to the the Oscar go Scout SC SC me fa out Scout is my favorite card game you see that video somewhere up here as well um and it's my favorite game you can play in 15 minutes you it is such a great game it's so so so fun easy to teach weird little card game but tremendously fun I've never had a bad time playing Scout four players is the number to play it with always play it with four yeah and relatively straightforward in what you're trying to do you are going to try and um play sets of cards right to try and beat the other person's sets of cards like you might see in any other classic game but if you can't beat the set you have to pick the card up and put it back in your set now here's the twist of the game when you first get B out of your hand of like 10 cards you cannot rearrange them those are the cards you've been d That's the position of the cards specific order that may never be changed and there's another great trick every single card has two values a value this way around and then a value that way way around the other way around right so when you pick a card up from the middle you can pick it up either way around and put it anywhere in here which then creates more sets more uh of a Kind more runs that you can then play to beat the next person with the end goal of course get rid of all of your cards and when you do that you are the winner shout Uno you don't Shout Never Never Shout Uno Never Shout Uno but play Scout is great it's uh one of the best card games released in the last decade yeah it's it's a it's a terrible game and um we always have fun playing it like yeah it's a it's short Snappy and um absolutely he always a hit on the table isn't it it's amazing I love that game Scout is great and I'll continue to play it it's a great Pub game it's great every every time game it's fill a game it's whatever you I love Scout enough Scout it's number one Scout so that's it 15 minutes we showed you just how much you can play all of the different types of games all of the different styles and genres yeah yeah L almost anything yeah again there are there are many like very good like 50 minut we trying to give you on this lead our favorite ones and um uh trying to do like different styles and different type of game for example one that did not make my least it was air L and C that I absolutely love it but it's very similar to other games so I'm trying to give you like more more generous absolutely there's a great dexterity game that you can include here called Clark yeah CLK is great that does really clever stuff with magnets which is really wonderful I love it yeah yeah that's a great Pub game we should do a pub it's on the list we're doing we're doing a pub list CLK is a perfect Pub game anyway lots of great games that you can play in 15 minutes but we want to know your picks for 15 minutes remember must be able to play it in 15 minutes no 15 minute setup right need a nice quick setup and then get that game done and dusted within the space of a pine of beer uh but well you drink a beer in 15 minutes uh I can drink probably less than that yeah oh
