hey friends it is Jenna what is up and welcome back to the board game garden and welcome to another episode of sewing solo so if you guys do not know what this is basically I just chat about a bunch of different games that I've been playing solo recently and I've said this in many videos and I'm sure you guys are getting sick of it but I have been a little bit busier these last few months and you know I haven't been able to play as many solo games so I haven't been doing these monthly I've kind of more just been doing them whenever I have enough games that I've been playing solo to talk about so today I have 1 2 3 4 five six seven eight different games to chat about there's a few different smaller ones and then a few different um slightly bigger ones I haven't really played any like huge games solo recently um but I am very excited to talk about the ones that I am going to chat with you about today so without further Ado if you guys want to see all the games that I've been playing solo recently then just keep on watching give this video a big thumbs up if you enjoy Also hit the Subscribe button down below if you you yet to do so we'd love to have you here in the garden without further Ado let's get into all the games that I've been playing solo recently shall we so to start off I wanted to talk about a few smaller games that I've been playing recently just easy small little card games um that I've been playing recently um the first two are from the publisher called Envy born games uh they reached out and sent over I think four of their games I've only only played two of them

thus far but one of their other ones called defg is a solo game as well or can be played solo so I'm excited to try that one out and they also have one called 16 candies I believe that is not a solo game it's like a bigger group card game but the two that I've been playing recently are Sirens as well as confusing lands so there's definitely is one out of these two that I prefer but basically both of these are games that you can play I Believe one to two players um and they're both small kind of drafting card games that you're just trying to put out cards in a certain way in order to score victory points um so the first one here is sirens and this one I believe you are it's been a bit since I've played it but I played it two or three times and basically you are picking up two cards it's a little bit different with a solo game because you are picking up two cards I believe and then choosing one for yourself and then the other one goes to the AI and then depending on some rules the AI is going to add it to their song basically you are a siren and you are trying to create um a song and the cool thing about this one is that you can actually after you're finished playing the game you can actually scan it on your phone which I didn't do it when I played but I should really do it but I guess you can like scan the um kind of song that you've created and then it will actually play back your song which I think is very cool and then the one that you choose you're going to be putting it on either side as well well of your song and then

scoring in different ways so depending on the colors I will say that the scoring in this one was a little bit confusing at first and I'm not going to explain it cuz like I said it has been a little bit since I've played it but basically you are trying to get a chunk of colors because each of the cards is going to have kind of like a suit or a color to it um there's also going to be some different arrows on each of the sides so you are trying to have groups of the same color but then the AR you want to have the same as the card beside it there's also these different kind of like shell things that you're wanting to match up as well for some more victory points and basically after you have picked up two placed one gave the other one to the AI done that until I believe each of you has six or seven cards in your little straight line Tableau you will then count up your victory points and if you have more victory points then the AI then you do win so this is one that I enjoyed um but I will say that did enjoy confusing lands more so confusing lands I believe is their newest title um they do have another title that they are working on that starts with a K that I saw at um Gen Con but this is their more recent one that they um have come out with and this is actually like a prototype copy of it so I don't actually have a finished copy of this one but I really enjoyed this so it does say on the box that it's only two players but then on the back it says includes a a solo variant so I did play this one solo and I feel like this is

exactly what I wanted spiropoulos to be so if you've never played sprawlopolis it is a button shy game it's definitely not one of my favorite button shy games I will play it every once in a while because it is a fun little card laying game where you're trying to match up different things and have like the roads and stuff um but this one here I think I enjoyed more than sprawlopolis and it kind of plays somewhat similarly to spral lopolis and a way where you are um getting these cards and then you are choosing whether you want to place the card on the one side that's going to have an objective or if you want to play it on the other side that's going to add to your confusing lands so you're just building out this kind of Tableau of different cards and you can place them in any direction and then like I said you can decide if you want to place a card on its objective side and that's kind of the similarities to spops because on the other side of the cards of spops are going to have objectives but in spiropoulos you are choosing three objectives so you're like shuffling the cards and putting three objectives out and then trying to go by those objectives whereas in this you're actually every single time you're picking up a card you're deciding whether you want to place it on its normal side or its objective side um in order to kind of choose the best objectives for what you like doing in your Tableau and what you have going on so I really really enjoyed that and I've played this one a ton and and I really enjoy it I also love and I'm obsessed with the art in it um and it's just so

so good so in the normal two-player game of this um basically each player is going to be picking up two cards you're going to be choosing one for yourself and then you're going to be giving the other one to your opponent so with the solo version of this you are still doing that each player so you're going to deal out cards for yourself then you're going to deal out um cards or you're just going to put the remaining cards over and that's kind of going to act as the AI um deck of cards and basically what's going to happen is you're going to choose your two cards like you normally would you would choose one to keep for yourself put it into your Tableau and then discard the other one and then in order to kind of um have it feel like you're getting a card from the other player you are going to discard the first card and then you're going to pick up the next card in their deck and that's going to be the one that they have given to you to place into your Tableau so it is very fun I really enjoyed it so I do think that I enjoy confusing lands a little bit more than Sirens but I feel like both of them are great little small boox games that if you're looking for some fun solo puzzles I think I might actually bring confusing lands and maybe even Sirens as well on a trip that I'm going on um not tomorrow but the next day so I have like a almost 6-hour flight so I feel like these ones would be great for travel and just small games to uh play solo so those are the first two that I wanted to chat about confusing lands and Sirens by MB boring games now I I don't know if I want to go back and forth between bigger games and smaller games I think I will just stick with the smaller games and then I'll

move into the bigger games last if that's okay um but the next game that I wanted to shout about is a game that I actually got at Gen Con so this was in a little goodie bag from Lucky Duck games and this was actually a game that I was going to pick up myself from Gen Con so I was really happy when I saw it in the goodie bag from Lucky Duck um but this is actually a solo only um game and this is a a rolling right where basically you have a P6 instead of a D6 so it is actually a pencil that you're going to be rolling and then wherever it lands that's going to determine what you're going to do so this game is called paper app dungeon and it's actually just like a little notepad and I think this is so cool this is another one that I'm 100% bringing traveling with me but basically it's just a notepad and it is like a dungeon diving game where you're B basically just going to be going through a bunch of different kind of dungeons um so I've done a few thus far and you're going to be going through all these floors and then you're going to start in a certain spot and then you're going to be trying to make your way to the exit and the way that you're going to be moving is you're going to be rolling your pencil your P6 and whatever number it is that's going to be how many spaces you can move and depending on if it's an odd number or an even number that's going to determine if you are going to move orthogonally or diagonally so I believe it's even numbers are orthogonal and odd numbers are diagonal it could be

the opposite but basically you're doing that you're moving there's a bunch of different things that you could run into potentially there's treasure there's spiderwebs there's monsters that are going to um break down your HP um the treasure is going to give you coins and stuff and then looking forward to the different things eventually you'll get to like shop Pages where you can spend your money to get like certain things and I am just so excited to dive into these uh like I said I've only played the first few floors um I will say it does seem a little bit easy at times to avoid things that you don't want but I did in the first few floors hit some things that I just could not avoid cuz I like got myself into a certain situation where I couldn't go any other direction other than the direction towards like a monster or a spiderweb um but for the most part I've had some pretty good luck with like kind of avoiding and kind of going around the things that I don't want to hit um but overall I've really enjoyed this little game here and like I said I'm excited to bring it traveling with me because you literally just need a um kind of surface to roll your pencil and then you just have this little kind of notepad that you're like playing a game in I thought this was very very fun so if you're looking for a fun little Dungeon Crawler type of solo game you can take on the road with you traveling or if you just want one to like keep on your bedside table that's actually what I've been doing I've just been keeping this on my bedside table and playing a

floor or two uh before I go to bed so yeah that is paper app dungeon so so much fun such a cute little game um been loving that all right so moving on to the last small game this is actually a really big surprise to me because this showed up in the mail randomly and I was like what the heck is this and then I realized that it had a solo mode and I'm like oh that's cool cuz this is like an interesting little like card game that I looked at it and like you wouldn't think that this had a solo mode but this is a game called Tim match and it is from the publisher Fireside games it plays one to five players and I do believe that the multiplayer I haven't played it multiplayer is um a Cooperative game yes it says Cooperative here so it makes sense that you can play it solo um but basically you are going to have cards in your hand and then you're also going to make this pyramid of cards kind of similar if you've seen the kind of card layout of Seven Wonders duel or games like that where you have one card and then two cards three cards and then four cards and then the fifth row are going to be cards that are face up and then you are not going to be able to flip over these certain cards in the other rows until you have taken off the cards that are kind of overlapping them if that makes sense so um yeah basically you are I'm kind of having a hard time making this stay up stay there we go basically what you're doing is you are trying to play out cards in a certain

way in order to make your way all the way up to the top of the pyramid and defeat the like top card and again this is one that it's been a little bit since I've played it last but basically you in order to get rid of a card you're going to have to either there are a bunch of different colors of cards there is red orange yellow green blue and purple and the secondary colors actually have to have cards played that create that um color or they have to have cards played of the same color so if I'm trying to get rid of an orange card I would have to play a yellow and a red or I would have to play um an orange card itself or the easiest situation is just if you want to get rid of a primary colored card you would just have to play a card of the same color or you can also play a card of the same number so if it's a one I could play a one of a different color and that would take that card off of it I do believe also that you can play numbers that add or subtract to a number in order to get rid of it as well and then also the reason why this game is called altim match is because you can create an altim match where basically you are going to play cards that both match the color as well as the number and then that creates an ultimat and that then allows you to pick up more cards so I do believe that you don't actually pick up any cards and you are trying to go all the way to the top without gaining cards unless you are

able to create these ala matches and that gains you more cards into your hands so I actually really enjoyed this one it was a huge surprise to me I'm not sure if I would enjoy this one multiplayer um I feel like it would definitely just be one of those games where like everyone's kind of playing things out individually and trying to work together but then ultimately I don't think in the multiplayer you can talk about what you have in your hand um I could be wrong you could actually be able to talk about what's in your hand but yeah just really I enjoyed this one solo and I feel like it's a great kind of puzzly game if you really enjoy games where you're trying to figure out a puzzle in your head and trying to successfully kind of achieve that puzzle I do think that you would enjoy this one so yeah quite a surprise to me I was not expecting much from it but I really enjoyed Tim match solo so I wanted to give a shout out to it moving on to the next game um I think I'm going to talk about this one next this is a game that um I got sent over by pandasaurus games and that game is umbrella so this is actually the second umbrella game that I recently kind of discovered um the other one is the igua city of umbrellas which is another great umbrella themed game that can play solo and is really good so I definitely recommend checking that one out I did a preview of it and then I also do believe I did a solo playthrough of it as well um I will link that up here if I can find it I'm not 100% sure

if I did that live stream on Twitch or if I did it on YouTube but yeah that was another good umbrella game but this is umbrella just simply umbrella and this is a wonderful puzzly game that I really enjoyed um I do think that there are some other kind of puzzly games that I enjoy more than this one but it kind of goes in that realm of like Calico and Cascadia and those great puzzly um solo games or great games that play solo cuz those all can be played multiplayer this one can also be played multiplayer and I feel like it would be very fun multiplayer as well because there is a lot of player interaction which I think is cool and not something that you see often in these like puzzly games uh most of the time it's kind of more more so interaction when it comes to just like drafting things and taking something that another person maybe wanted um but in umbrella you are actually doing like a Sliding Puzzle which I think is very cool and in the multiplayer game you have the places that you're sliding and taking things from in between the players so I'm going to be kind of sharing something with the person to my right and the person to my left um whereas in the solo game you still have those kind of areas but you are not really sharing them with any like AI or anything but you are having to discard things and you're trying to do this puzzle of basically you have a bunch of different like objectives and different patterns that you're trying to create in

order to gain victory points um there's going to be some different kind of um overall objectives that you trying to um complete but then there's also these like subobjectives where you're trying to kind of get the different colored umbrellas into these certain configurations um so you are taking something from one side pushing it pushing off something and then placing it on the other side and then you are having to discard that tile once you have pushed it off so you're really paying attention to what you are adding into your puzzle but then also what you're taking away because you are having to discard that color so if you're wanting that certain colored umbrella for another objective then you are not going to be able to get it back cuz it's getting permanently discarded from the game um and you're just trying to add things from the top and pushing things down pushing things up left and right and like I said you're just trying to create these different configurations and then the kind of overall objectives is that the colors that you're making these configurations into um those are going to kind of help you complete different kind of bigger objectives of you're needing this color this color and this color um in order to gain victory points that's ultimately how you're going to get your points and yeah overall I really enjoy this one it was a wonderful little puzzle I will say the first time that I played this I didn't for some reason read the rule where you had to discard things so I was just like yeah push this here push this here not discarding anything and not losing anything and I'm like wow this is really

easy like I don't know why I'm doing so well uh which is kind of funny because in another game that I'm going to talk about in a second I did something very similar so thank goodness I'm playing solo and no one is seeing any of my mistakes except you guys are now listening to it uh but anyways yeah I eventually figured out that I was playing this slightly wrong and I did play it correctly a few times after that and I have really enjoyed it so that is umbrella all right so moving into a slightly bigger game this was actually the most recent game that I played on a live stream and I haven't live streamed for I think over a month now and I do want to apologize right now I promise you the solo live streams are coming back I like have said many times times I just been very busy and I've been having a really hard time trying to find a day that I can actually schedule live streams and um do them consistently honestly I might not be able to do any live streams until like November we will see um I am doing a few things in September and then I'm also going to Japan for like two almost two and a half weeks in uh October so it'll be interesting maybe I will try to do a few live streams in September when I'm not traveling but anyways this was the last game that I played on live stream and I loved this game so so much it is from one of my favorite um Publishers but the game is ship rights

of the North Sea Redux so this one was sent over to me by garel games so huge thank you to them and this is a reworking of one of their older games called ship rights of the North Sea I believe it was one of their first games that they came out with uh this is the only one that I've played I haven't played any of like the North Sea Trilogy um but this one I played and it is so so good there is just something about garel games that just gets my brain going and I absolutely love the puzzle of their games um and this one kind of reminded me a little bit of uh Legacy of viu which is another one of their games that I really enjoy that is a solo only game um I haven't played this on multiplayer yet but I really want to play it multiplayer because it integrates some closed drafting which is one of my favorite mechanisms where basically you have a hand of cards you pick one you give the rest to the person to your left or your right you continue doing that until you have a hand of cards and so in the solo mode of this there's a little bit of like a way to do it to kind of make you feel like you're doing some clothes drafting but basically you are picking up five cards choosing to discard in three picking up four cards choosing two again discarding the other two and then picking up three cards choosing two and then discarding one and that's going to be your hand of cards for that round um I forget how many rounds it is I think it's like four rounds and this one ultimately a lot

like Legacy of you is a hand management a little bit some resource kind of conversion and resource management and then also a big Tableau Builder which if you watched the channel before know I love um but yeah you are building different biking ships you are building buildings um you are doing some like trades and stuff like I said it's a huge Resource Management game so you're doing a lot of like exchanging of resources in order to then um put these kind of Viking ships onto your Dock and then building from the dock um up to the top and then the buildings you're going to need to pay resources for so you're needing to make those resources um you're also going to be fighting and doing these like raids which I think in the game that I played of this actually both of the games that I played of this I kind of avoided the raids for the most part and then also on top of all that you are going up these three different tracks as well which I love bumping tracks so anyways that is everything for ship rights of the North Sea Redux this one like I said I've really enjoyed and I'm looking forward to playing this one um solo more and then also I really do want to introduce this to some friends um for multiplayer play cuz I I feel like this one would be a good one to play multiplayer um but yeah I really enjoyed this one it's no surprise I love garel games and it felt kind of similar to that Legacy of you and those like hren wall kind of just like exchanging different resources and trying to do as much as possible um in order to gain

victory points so yeah that is ship rights of the North Sea Redux all right so moving on to the last two games I wanted to leave these two to last because these were both ones that I received at gen on and these were the most recent ones that I have played solo so very excited to talk about both of these so the first one that I want to talk about is Parks rolling hike so I do think I want to do a live stream of this one so maybe once I get home from the traveling that I'm doing this weekend maybe I will do a live stream of parks roll and Hike when I get home uh but this is such a wonderful little game I've actually played this both multiplayer as well as solo thus far are you guys will hear my thoughts on the multiplayer mode in my next kind of monthly wrap-up that I'll do uh at the beginning of September Parks roll and Hike is a roll and Hike game where basically you're going to be rolling these different dice the one thing that I love about this game is that each of the players is going to get this little book that you're going to open to a page and that's going to be your little area that you're going to be writing things down for this roll and right ultimately um but in the solo mode you are going to be rolling these dice there's going to be I think four or five that are white and then there's going to be one yellow die and in the multiplayer game you're going to be drafting a die and that's going to happen in turn order and then whenever someone actually decides to

draft the yellow die that actually kind of like ends that round in a way and then the little hiker um like foot meeple little boot meeple is going to go one step further on this track and the track is actually representing a day of the game you're going to be playing through 3 days and then once that's finished everyone counts up their points and whoever has the most points is the winner so in the solo mode you are actually going to be still playing through these 3 days you're going to be moving this hiker boot um along this track and the way that you're going to moving the boot is on your turn you can either decide to draft a die um just one of the white Dy or or you can spend two sons in order to draft a white Dy and the yellow Dy which this is the thing that I played wrong the first time that I played the solo for some reason I thought I only had to pay one son to take both of the dice but I indeed had to pay two sons so I was paying one son the whole time and then I was like wow I did really good I scored like 80 something points but I did not know that I was playing it wrong the whole time so I played it again again and got a more uh normal score for sure but anyways yeah you're either going to get one die or you're going to get two if you pay two suns and the Dy are going to be different icons that you're then going to be able to put into a little Journal there's a bunch of like little journals that you can put different icons into

and then you're also if you use there's a little pencil icon that's allowing you to write in each of the journals and so you can like draw a line into each the journals and then at the end of the game all of the lines in each of your journals is going to be worth one Victory Point um once you've finished a journal so you've written three lines into that specific Journal whatever icon you placed into that journal you're going to be able to do some sort of free action depending on the icon um you're also going to be able to use these icons in order to unlock different ongoing abilities or things that you get at the end of each day so they're kind of like income that you're going to gain at the end of each day that you you move that hiker meeple down the track and then on the other side you're going to have these different animals that you're going to be filling in those are going to get you different rewards and you're also going to gain victory points based off of the animals that you complete there's a little like binoculars area that you fill in if you fill in two then you get another resource of some sort or another animal that you can fill in you also have your little like water thing that you're going to be collecting water in and at the end of each round depending on how much water you've collected you're going to gain victory points um for those so yeah I've really enjoyed this one it's a fairly simple straightforward rolling right but I just love the fact that it's in this little book it's a like I said drafting kind of game where you're drafting those dice um you also have to collect those Suns I didn't mention I also didn't mention

that each time you play you can choose a different card and that's going to determine what the like wild symbol is it depends on what card you choose and those cards are going to be a bunch of different um national parks and stuff like that so there's like euse and Yellowstone and different things like that so uh yes really enjoyed this one I'm looking forward to Flying this one more multiplayer and solo I think this is another one that I might bring with me traveling anyways that is Parks Rolland hike really enjoyed it um yeah definitely recommend and lastly for today's sewing solo this is the one that I most recently played I actually played this one last night and that is spectacular so I played spectacular for the first time last night solo I haven't played this multiplayer yet but this is a wonderful game I really enjoy this one I do think this one and probably ship rights of the Nory were the two that I most enjoyed out of all of these games um but in spectacular this is from chili fox games they did give me this for review at Gen Con so huge thank you to them uh but spectacular is truly just a tile drafting dice drafting puzzle game where you are placing down these different tiles with these different animals on them and then you're going to be placing these dice onto these different tiles in order to score victory points um there's going to be two different rounds at the end of the first round you are going to score whatever is connected um to your

entrance so you're trying to create like the best entrance I guess and you're going to be counting up all of the dice that are connected to your entrance and uh you're going to be counting up the Pips so however much is connected to your entrance you're going to count up all of those Dice and that's going to be kind of your entrance um score for the game and then at the end of the game you're going to be scoring for different groups of animals um some of the tiles are going to be breeding tiles and you have to have a breeding tile connected to these different groups there's going to be different terrains so there is the mountains grassland water and desert so the four um kind of colors there and you're going to be scoring these groups and you're not going to be able to score these groups unless you have a breeding tile at least one breeding tile with the correct dice on them so the breeding tiles need either a one or a two so you're going to have to place those into the groups in order to score and basically what's going to happen is you're going to score for that group based off of the total number of your Pips in that group multiplied by how many breeding tiles you have in in that group that have a die on them so like I said the breeding ones have to have a one or a two on them in order to like count as the multiplication for that um you're also going to be working on these different like watchtowers which are kind of like this Center thing here um each tile or some of the tiles are going to have a certain color in one of the corners so you're going to have to join

three hexagons together of the same colored Watchtower area and once you've done that you can place a watchtower on them and then those are going to be the only tiles that you can place a six die on so you have to build the Watchtower first and then add the dice after or you could add dice before they just can't be a six they'd have to be less than a six um and then also you have different things to mitigate the dice you're going to be in the solo mode drafting from this area you're either going to draft a die or a tile and then whatever group you don't draft from you're going to flip over a tile it's going to have a number and that's going to be the either die that's going to discarded or the tile that's going to be discarded so super easy solo mode you're just drafting things you also have like your own personal Supply that you're drafting things from and then kind of like the public Supply that you're drafting things from um in the multiplayer game you're doing a little bit of everyone has a supply that they're going to be drafting from and then that Supply is actually going to move to the next player so I'm really interested to play this one multiplayer cuz I think that'll be a cool thing to add to the multiplayer also with the solo mode it is pretty challenging because um you have three different kind of missions or objectives that you're going for in the multiplayer game you don't have to play with the missions but I do definitely recommend playing with the missions because they're just public objectives that you're going for that you just gain more victory points for if you get them um but in the solo mode you have to play with the missions and basically in order

to beat the solo mode you have to score 200 or more and you also have to successfully achieve two of the three missions um that you have so when I played this I did score two of the three missions and then I scored a score of 194 so yeah I was six points away from successfully um completing the solo mode but unfortunately I did not so I'm very excited to play this one more and see how many points I can get so yeah overall really really enjoy this one like I said this was probably one of my favorites I also really love the organization that they've done in here they have all the components in these different boxes that kind of just like fit perfectly in the box and it's just so nice to have it so organized so yeah if you are really a fan of tile laying games uh games that use dice in cool ways drafting games games with objectives I definitely recommend this one it's fun puzzly beautiful uh that is spectacular all right friends so that is going to be everything for today's sewing solo hopefully you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on all of these these games here if you did please give this video a big thumbs up if you enjoyed also hit the Subscribe button down below if you yet to do so we'd love to have you here in the garden please comment down below any games that you've been enjoying solo recently I'd love to chat about those down there please let me know your thoughts on any of these if you've played them in the past and yeah I love you guys so so much remember you somebody's free to smile and I will see

you in the next board game video bye friends
