10 Board Games Worth the Shelf Space They Take Up

Hey Bo, you're kind of a big boy. Yes, you are. And so are all of these games. I managed to put some of them up on my wall because these are really physically heavy games, but these are games that I think actually are worth the space that they take up on the shelf because they are packed full of content. They have been played multiple times by me and I thoroughly enjoy them. So, let's get into them. First up, this one, special edition of Castles of Burgundy. I have the version with all of the acrylic tiles that add all of this extra clank to it. I have 3D printed upgraded insert banks for them to get them to the table a lot faster.

Um, this is something that I also have to do for a lot of games to get them to the table faster. I make sure there's a a print for them. And it comes with the vineyards expansion, which I've actually been quite enjoying, as well as a bunch of different variables, and there's tons of different player boards on the duchies uh, that you can go through. And so, I've been actually trying to go through and play this game multiple times. I've been trying to make it a habit of on Mondays trying to do what I call Moldy Mondays um, to go through the games that have been aging on my shelf. Dogus Interruptus. Next up is Clans of Caledonia, which I managed to fit sideways and we're going to put over top of Bo's head now. This one is the new expansion with uh, industrial which adds trains to the game. Yes, Bo Bo, here you go. Which was really cool cuz it's a whole separate board that gives you a bunch of different ways that you can use the resources that you create and farm. And then it still has the typical route building that is inside of the game. Uh, quite like this game. I played it a ton before it was a big box version. And now that it is a big box version, I think it still holds its space of weight on the shelf. Another big box one uh, that's not as big of a box. This does it is slightly outside of the 12 by 12 range that I was going for. This is Darwin's Journey um, with the new Oceania expansion, but I have managed to fit both of them inside of the Darwin's Journey deluxe box, um, which we've got hiding up over there.

I know, yes, I know. He wants to go on a journey. You want more treats? Num num num num num. This is how you get views. Have dog. Oh. Not over the table, please. Anyways, Darwin's Journey has a lot of content packed into it. I have all of the extras. I have, once again, 3D printed an insert, but that insert combines the two boxes that it would normally take up on the shelf into one box. So, highly recommend that. Find a friend with a 3D printer, uh, and print that insert off cuz it gets it all down into one box. I actually also printed it for another friend. Age of Steam is another big box games that is also packed full of content. This one is a really simple game system where you can actually just build out your route building and pick up and deliver the resources, but it comes with, uh, I think the base Kickstarter edition was four different maps, and I think I've added one map pack so far out of five map packs. Although, I think more map packs is going to require me to take up more box space, and that I don't think I would really want to do cuz it is already taking up enough space as it is with how big of a box it is. Western Legends is another one that I have jam-packed full of upgrades. I 3D printed all of the buildings, although you can buy the buildings themselves. I have all of the expansions. Uh, I don't have the, uh, neoprene mat, though.

Yeah. Uh, there's no dog in that one, though. You pirate? Yeah. One of my favorite pirate games is Dead Reckoning. I don't normally like a lot of conflict-oriented games, but this one, because it's a cube tower, which is really cool, that drops down, it's a little bit more random as in who's going to win, as well as you can kind of see it coming because someone's going to go into the pirate mode, and you know that, and they have to do that at the end of their turn, so you know what's going to be happening. You have pirate mode. The expansions itself add a ton more content. This one is just the regular-size box that I have, but there's actually the big giant chest, which I think is also still worth it cuz it hold every single piece of the content. I know every piece of the content, Bo. And so, it's going to take up even more space, although I wish it came with a stain. Are you singing me the song of your people?

Yeah? Because Luthier is the next one, and this is actually at one of the youngest ones on the list, and this has been a hit. I have played this already more times than most of the games I ever get played cuz I know, honestly, most of my games only get played once, two, three times. This one I think is already up at four or five for its H index, um and I still want to play it more cuz the theme is right on point with what I love. I love classical music. Yes, I know you love classical music, too, Bo. Uh and I love the Evincent to trade art, um and so, that one is definitely worth its space on the shelf. These boxes could fall at any moment. Okay, the next one is Era: Medieval Age. This one I've actually had on my sell pile a couple of times, but every time it's gone up. No one's ever bought it, um and I'm just like always feel really iffy about trying to sell it. I know I don't want to sell it either, Bo. Here, you can have another treat. I love the 3D buildings of it. It's a little bit bigger of a box because of that. Once again, another 3D printed insert to make sure I can put all of the expansions inside of the box. I almost have all of the collector's edition buildings. I have a couple more that I'm trying to find, but nobody wants to separate them from their base game. Okay, this next one I'm cheating a little bit.

Once again, uh as I had the Darwin's Journey box uh two boxes condensed into one, Railroad Tycoon. I really love this game and love that it's a great tile laying game, um and I have four expansions. I know, four expansions, Bo. All crammed into the retail box. So, I printed an insert. I designed the insert for this one as well so that I can actually do that. Bo, there's none left. You ate them all. Yeah, you ate them all. But, if you have the collector's edition box, feel free to make sure you keep that one on your shelf as well. And I need to get Bo's some more treats.

Are you done yet? Well, they finally fell down because Bo has decided he's had enough treats and his tail is destructive. But we have one game left and that is Cretaceous Rails. This is another big box game stuffed full of stuff. This one's larger because of all of the uh meeples it has inside of it as well as the dino uh meeples it has which is really cool. And I'm really excited for the expansion to come soon which adds even more dinos and it gives me the content that I didn't get from the kick original Kickstarter. It has the flying pterodactyls, the sea animals of the new expansion, as well as the 3D volcanoes and the 3D houses. Very excited for that. Great board presence and it's actually just a really simple gameplay but with a complex idea with the card mechanics on how to go through those ones uh and score because of the the the multiplication scoring mechanic. It's actually really really cool and really brain burning. You can watch one of my videos on that one. Oh, Bo's back. All right, Bo says this video has gone on long enough. Make sure you like and subscribe and let me know down in the comments below which is your physically largest game that is taking up the most space but totally worth it. Is it worth it? Can you flip it and reverse it?

Bye. Are you just here to give me more views?
