0:00 hello and welcome to get into games on air a podcast about board games and the people who play them my name's Craig AKA get into games and joining me as always is Rebecca hi hello hello hello for anyone who isn't watching Craig just did a like I did this a zoomy head round and around around aom head it was very good hello and welcome to episode 31 it's our party and we'll party if we want to party party you're going to be able to remember that the whole episode no okay I'll call it Fred's episode that's it today we will be talking all things party games because we got some um really cool new fun uh party games in recently from our friends at gamely games we did um and we also got some uh nice we got 13 beavers in didn't we that was a really nice little party style game so we've got a few party games in the post recently and we thought we'd share them with you and talk about our some of our favorite um we might games play some of them we might play some of them as well that's all very very exciting um so today's episode we will of course be talking about what has hit our table or reluctantly hit our online virtual table we'll get into that we will talk about what we've played and we'll talk about our top 10 each topish 10 favorite Party topish 10

3:05 you go yuck I didn't like that you don't have to sell them you can just send them back or your games you can try you go yes I loved it let me buy more tried Katan and then sent it back safe in the knowledge it wasn't taking up any space I could have tried Katan then I would have set fire to it and I would have owned wrench Shuffle and roll a new copy of the game you would have owned them copy owed them owed them them that was different but we'll get into that later anybody a cop anyway Rebecca yes what has been happening my phone has turned itself off what has hit our board game table recent time we hav't played very much this week it's been another busy one busy week um but we did manage to play some worm span with our new upgrades shinin very exciting we played another game of Return To The Dark Tower which we lost again but we did get much further and I did did feel like we had done more yes and were more successful in going into the dungeons bits and pieces like that was completely wasted we may have to replay that using the seed though yes um we had a little board game arena night with our friend James yes and we played lots of games what did we play we played um well we played Katan do you want to talk about that I don't never want to talk about Katan so we popular opinion this a popular opinion for me so I we've never really played Katan we we can't

4:36 we've never that was our first time really um we've we've been in the hobby for a while now and we came in a different door I think there's I think there's a I think there's a Katan door and a pandemic door uh we came in the two sham yeah we came in the pandemic door um and then on the way in the pandemic door we met up with CT Express and we went through the CT Express door M uh and through the C Express door there was a camel up door and then we walked through the camel up door and we got to a Jamaica door um and it was a King of Tokyo door yeah lot lot doors then started opening and a carass door seemed more exciting than and a quar door see what you did there uh yeah did you plan that no oh uh anyway and then there was another door that was left closed uh for a long time a good reason uh it seems we didn't know it was a good reason at time it seems that it was a great reason and we played Katan so our friend James said oh do you fancy playing Katan and we were like okay but you'll have to teach it to us because we've never played it which shocked him somewhat yes I think played it a couple of times I think he had played it in real life in the real flesh and he also played it on BJ yes so he teaches us the rules we start playing MH there's a bit of a flaw to the game I feel M that it's bad no oh all seriousness like that was that was serious so I put my what's it called settlement settlement in an area

6:09 uh to the right of the board with numbers like 9 11 I know seven I think maybe or eight yeah um and I didn't really see the problem with it to be honest it was fine um Craig put his settlement his starting settlement which is the only way you can get resources to an 11 a 12 and a N9 or something yeah or a two something something ridiculous it was really difficult for Craig to get resources and if you can't get resources that you can't trade and if you can't trade you can't do anything in the game yes so for a long time Craig just had to pass I was getting lots of clay I was getting lots of clay somehow because the clay was the only number and then I had loads and then we rolled a seven and the robber decided to steal from me more than eight resources and then it took half of even though all the resources were basically the it's ter anyway so Craig did not have a fun time no I but I we were talking about it afterwards and I would liken it to Monopoly it is Monopoly it's the same game you roll some dice it's as bad you move or collect resources yes if you're in Monopoly you move if you're in C you collect resources you trade like you can trade in Monopoly because you can trade houses and you upgrade your settlements you upgrade your settlement to cities yes which is like Monopoly anyway it didn't do anything for us people would

7:40 say roll and move is such a dated thing I think roll and collector resource after two rounds I was like I'm done I'm and it took a long time and there was a lot of to be done rules like can we trade no we can't trade I think to be fair on BGA you can't see each other's resources so you end up asking loads of questions yeah to people saying do you have this resource and they don't have it so it's kind of like wasted time yes um but yeah it doesn't do anything for us and it always like also there like silly things in BGA like it will always ask all players do you want to trade this for this even if you don't have that resource like why would why are you why are you asking me that that's just like rubbing salt in the wounds and actually being more annoying anyway terrible game um he has said we will play it one more time I will play it one more time I will give all games so anybody who's got any good ideas the benefit of the doubt Point potentially it's better in person with real people to actually physically talk to and have a bit of back and forth with potentially it's interesting it must be loved because obviously it's loved it's a very old game but when you go to ukg and there's like the world's biggest stand and it's katans and it's got sheep everywhere which are very C I liked collecting the pin badges I just don't really like the game and I think there's like 3D versions and giant versions and

9:12 different versions I don't know I but what's really annoying me is that I really so the was it the first podcast was like second or third 2024 games we're looking forward to trying 2024 um I wanted to try the new energies Katan because it looked really interesting um however if it's like Katan then I probably will just give that a minut I think it is just Katan with so maybe not stuff I don't know it doesn't yeah anyway it was if you wish to comment that we're completely wrong please let us know what we're missing because it's awful it's a very popular game and we don't get it I think it's it might be because if you're new to the Hobby it's a fantastic game to get into the hobby but once you've played lots of different games with different mechanics then yeah po just a bit SE and a bit f it was but then we we have the I have the same thing Kingdom Builder Kingdom Builder is basically Katan but with cards rather than dice like flip a card PL a thing on a thing okay I've done that now I've collected a castle whoopy I've got a boat thing anyway I think we might be putting Katan uh fishing l I know make a message and tell me why it's so good what I've done wrong why it's awful I mean not awful awful spots spots oh yeah spots I love spots we played spots again today it's like uh go to

10:45 favorite now from from not understanding so this is why I think if somebody can convince us that Katana is really good we could potentially like it cuz when we first learned spots we didn't get it I didn't like now we get it now we're like ah this is really good so I'm not never going to just write off again especially one as big as Katan but yeah uh we played space base cuz I am space base oh yeah I am space we had a deal that we would not buy any yellow cards no yellow cards yeah the yellow cards are the ones that you just you get so much money in that you can just buy loads of rockets I am space we had a deal mhm James was two away or one away one away one away one away from winning the game goes and buys the yellow cards yeah I mean how rude well on that that time I'd already bought one yellow card just to catch up because I was very unlucky with my rolls always rolling like ones and twos and not getting anything again this was the luck of BJ when we played I wasn't doing well um so on the last turn which came back to Anto because I was the first player so it ended the game immediately um I bought a big um rocket and won by Four Points even though James was only a point away that is because I am space Bas M yeah that's me anyway um yesterday we played some Ste yeah we did play Ste steer the story which is a game coming toing game yeah um has lots of different events that might happen and you essentially are retelling the story I

12:17 think you're supposed to do it sensibly we did not we made very strange stories I don't think it's sensibly um and you score points for being able to put certain events into your story you get new characters yeah it's quite good I think from an educational point of view for school children making up stories yeah um it's great I think we might play with our um how old is she now 4 year old um and I think she quite enjoy making up the stories um but I wouldn't say it's really a game I would say it's more of a yeah I mean it is because it's got points but if you can't fit the words into your story I don't understand how you couldn't or maybe that's just because I'm too old I think it was I think if you were making a story that made sense a lot of the things that we had put in yeah you couldn't have Pirates then going off into space outter space yeah so challenge me on that I will do that I mean we did manage to put everything in with us because our stories were very very St crazy in fact anyway we also played wandering towers with our new upgrade from jet R Adriana Collective that yeah they're so nice so we had the cardboard towers and now we have the plastic Towers I mean not good for the environment but I mean well they're 3D printed they're never going to be destroyed they're going to stay there and the best thing about it is that now you can stack stack towers and they don't fall over yeah because the cardboard ones sometimes they do they got knocked cardboard ones are like kind

13:48 of triangle at the base so when they get knocked they fly but these are perfectly straight so they sit really nicely and you got the new 3D printed the potion bottles so they're empty and then you put them over these colored um well they look like boobs but uh put them over these colored pieces and then they look filled and it's so satisfying yeah and I love it it's really cool really really cool and then today we took the children to the soft play so we could play some games so we played some more spots we played some Village rails which I do love and people were commenting oh that looks like an interesting what's that Village RS are really good it's it feels like it it ticks all those rolling right combo boxes for me like you're trying to build your routs with specific like agendas local it's a bad game but locomotives with local motives um and then taking trips and earning money and then that money goes towards other stuff I didn't add up my money at the end of that game oh no so I could have won I didn't win I got an we played Brew Crafters the travel card game yeah uh which is a game we had ages and ages ago it's about building up we're on video and you're yarning yeah I always y you know that it's about building up your Brewery and uh brewing beer obviously it's quite a nice little fastpaced card game where you're collecting the cards have dual purpose so they can either be ingredients for your beer or they can

15:19 give you uh like an action for um an extra Park in your Brewery that was quite nice we played that and then we played some rolling Realms with the Redux cards y various Realms we play Planet unknown dog park what else um and we played some of the originals and we played like a fe in it's good to mix it up and we took it out in the travel box yep there is one issue with the travel box yes there's a big issue with the travel box very big issue the issue is that the dice don't actually fit in well unless you only take so so so many cards if you take nine cards then it's fine each then it's fine but if you take the whole set of cards all the cards yeah it doesn't fit so I guess you would only take nine cards and then the dice and the thing and then you've got that game to travel with however we did take the purple and the dice and one green dice F satisfying yeah I I don't know I'm still I'm still I mean it's like all things with the Realms of rolling Realms I'm still unsure where the Redux is like it's definitely worth the money it's definitely worth it because you get to fit all of the Realms in um it's a better box it's more spacious it's got all the stuff to it the Realms you get in the Redux box whether they're worth I like them some of the most of them are good but there are ones that are just like I think there's a comfort to the old rolling Realms yeah and I I would say

16:51 that even with the extra cards that we bought we still go back to the original Rolling Realms just because they feel comfortable I think the problem is that these are so new that you don't know quite how to play them yet I think as we play it more it become I do find like a lot of them have though like a lot more add this Dice and this dice together use the total sum of these dice to go against this dice with that dice like there's a lot more I know they're all mathy but it feels a lot more I think we mentioned it before very very mathy math I'm fine with it but yeah I can see why some of them are a bit Yeah so that was all the games we had I think there's a few other games that we played I I got really bad with logging I sort of think I just want to play a game I don't necessarily want to log everything no I did it at um molon I just sort of went no I'm going to enjoy myself I'm not going to start it yeah and I think there's a a kind of Freedom that comes with not doing that it's nice to look back and see what you played and when you played it but I just haven't felt that Ur sometimes I do sometimes I don't so we don't get everything as accurate as we did not as we did the last never mind the last year yeah so another job that we did today was to organize the C yes which people who are watching on the video can see behind um so we thought we'd have a little chat about how to organize your C because it is a nightmare but you should never start that task unless you have a good

18:23 amount of time so I think we started at 9:00 and it was about 12:00 before we finished doing it yeah it was long time it's um it's a difficult one because how do you do it when you have limited space we can't really we can't really fit any more shelves in no I mean maybe a little 2 by 4x4 2 by 2x4 2 by 2 x two a little 2 by two I could probably fit one 2 by two over there um so the the initial thing that we had an issue with was that we've got loads of small box games but when you have small box games piled up in front of small box games you can never see the small box games and you never know what you've got yes and they all get hidden behind each other and I think we recently got in a lot of small box games so um they were sort of piling up and it just looked really messy so what we did is put all the small box games in a big box and then now we're going to figure out what's in the big box so that's they are so we have put them in see through box big boxes so you can sort of see round the sides and to choose but we've left some of the better ones out and now you can see them all so I feel quite about that but then how do you organize your CICS do you organize them by uh publisher do you organize them by color yeah publisher do you organize them by the same type of games you know yeah do all the Roland rights go together do all of the big

19:55 heavy games go together so we did do that with Rolland rights we were doing all rolling rights together and we did have a lot of the abstract strategy stuff together and then that sort of the boxes are such weird shapes and sizes for a lot of abstract strategy they offer a lot of rolling rolling rights look at tend for example we recently got a prototype for tending so excited I can't wait which will be a whole episode in itself uh pretty soon when we have a game of it we need some time to learn the rules yeah and then but then there'll be a whole episode on 10 from IV Studios we've got a prototype of that and it's incredible so um but yeah like things like that giant box for a rolling right tiny box for a rolling right like my city so um so yeah we've had to move have a move about and it's we used to have a lot of like a single game in front of like four games and then we've kind of worked out ones that we don't necessarily play as often so we put them behind and then pulled so there's so you can see more of the games now I don't like it really when when they're hidden one game is in front of all the four games because then you can't see four games you can only see one game and then you're less likely to pick the other games yeah I will forget what's behind them which will then show me that I've got too many games that's we try to put games that we wouldn't want to play all of the time so things like what next is a story driven card get dexterity game we know we have that but we're not going to play it all of the time so yeah and like and then there's always the argument do you do them vertically do you do them horizontally and I think there are games that need to be

21:25 horizontal they we got a shelf that's got like a hero um robot Quest arena and flamecraft and honey buz honey Buzz does not do well on its side teeken noo doesn't do well on its side the hero game that does not do well on its side um and the last thing you want to do is keep having to sort it out because the box is coming apart yes yeah so as Craig was shouting to me this morning when we were trying to put them together he was like if you move that the boxes will start coming apart well that's the problem isn't it some of the games they just start opening if you move away so you've got to really like think about what order you take them off the shelf but yeah that was fun it was a fun job we've tided it it looks all right it looks better it looks like we've got more games now though because see more of them which is good but they are tidy and the top which you can't see in the video is nice and tidy as well yeah until next week when more come so that's the thing because every time you do it whenever you do it there's always another one that comes in like oh now it doesn't fit on the Shelf yeah we even mve some into the front room that's it hey speaking of games that came this week should we ever talk about gamely games and their wonderful games that have come yeah so we got some party games which is kind of what led us to this podcast yeah from gamely games um and they're not on our top 10 list just because we haven't played them in a party situation we played them like as a pair um but we

22:55 need to test them out at a bigger player count so we're going to just showcase them by playing them on some of them not all of them not all of them terribly wrong so what ones we so in we got sent uh very kindly we got uh 60c scribbles oh yeah can't play that on air because that doesn't work which is a really cool little game um it's very Pictionary like you get um a card with 10 words on and those 10 words you are trying to draw within one minute mhm uh you draw you have a minute so 6 seconds per sixc scribbles yeah is it called yeah six second scribble so you have six seconds to draw 10 pictures um and then you basically give the piece of paper to the next per the other person and they kind of get try to guess what you've drawn um we've played it with our four-year-old who loved it by the way just we did because they've got easy medium and hard cards so we did it with the easy cards and she was drawing fruits and things beginning with c and it was great she loved it yeah um it's really good fun um it's definitely like a filler game yeah yeah yeah 100% um but everybody can join in and because it's you've only got limited time to draw it doesn't matter if you're a good artist or not it's kind of like an interpretation because you really haven't got that much time yeah um and also you know if you don't like drawing it's over within a minute and you can choose to play another game or you know that's it y so yeah it's quite ver loved it we got one of their newest

24:26 games which is bang out of order which is another one we can't really do on the podcast um which is really cool it it has that kind of uh the game timeline which is you're trying to work out the order of things in a way um so you'll have um two cards a higher and a lower at the end and you're trying to play something and you're wondering whether the so it might be like how many humans have lived on the earth since time began yeah and then it'd be like teeth on a shark or something like that you have to say whether it came before and after you played the car before and you play play in teams and then if one team thinks that you've got it wrong you go that's bang out of order and then you basically turn the cards over and the answers are on the back of it of the other side of the card um but what's good about that is that I think that the answers are so Random oh yeah that and also it depends on which two you've got comparing to each other that even if you remembered it was a big number you wouldn't necessarily you could keep playing it because you're not going to remember what the number yeah that's always been the problem with trivia games isn't it you run out of I've done the questions now now like we're having that I think we got that now with herd mentality like I've seen the questions for a her mentality enough times now but also if you play with the same people their answers are going to be the same yes um but I had a game when I was growing up called wild guess which was quite similar to the whole bang out of Border thing it well except that you had to give the answers but it was like um random questions and you had to try and

25:57 give the closest on the P answer one but um yeah yeah that was a what else do we get we got randomized which we haven't tested out yet because it's a three plus game three player game yeah so we have to try and work out how we can either game I'm I'm pretty sure but it looks good um so that's cool and then we got glibble should we play some glibble we should play some glibble so glibble is a is a game obviously because that's why we're here where you will have a card and it have an answer or a question for example in Birmingham a coffee shop dedicated to Mickey Mouse and then I'm going to give three answers y okay was opened outside of the train station had to close because of a mouse Invasion or had to close because there were no staff to run it and I would say because there was a mouse Invasion that is true there you go well done do one for me right now I will caveat I am the worst at this game I believe everything Craig says and the last time we played it I scored no points because I just believe whatever rubbish he makes up okay so let's see if I live up

40:35 Choice I'm going to start with something new because I mentioned it before it's 13 beavers uh 13 beavers is a brand new game that's just been released from format games uh designed by Matt Edmonson off the radio and the likes uh it's pure push your luck but it's so much fun uh all you're doing is you're playing your cards right you are guessing whether a card is higher or lower without a bruy bonus although there are some bruy bonuses um so you're basically guessing whether your beaver higher or lower um everyone loves a high Beaver BR normally they like a low one um anyway so there are different areas on the board there's a tempting tunnel so instead of guessing high or low you can physically just say I think the number is the number seven and if you turn it over you win the game if you do that you win the game and it's the best moment ever and you immediately go to the uh to paradise and win but if you don't get it right you have to go all the way back to because as you're as you're pushing your luck you can choose to shout out Dam at any time and that means your beaver can just stop and Dam where they are and you continue from that space But if you don't do that and you fail you go all the way back but the tempting the problem with the tempting tunnel space is you will always go all the way back no matter what um if you even wherever you've damned you go back to the beginning there are some spots where you have to keep pushing your luck y there's like lava flows coming through that he can't St wolves in a cave that you have to turn over and you have to get the one that's asleep before you can go pass it there's a fishing yeah so you can go fishing to get fish to get like bonuses there's a rapid so you can choose to you either go on the Rapids

42:05 and you move forward three spaces but if you get it wrong you go on the Rapids the other way and go backwards three spaces so it's Choice whether you go that way or push your luck to go the other way so it's like push your luck within push your luck which I think is makes it really cool so it's not just like oh is it is it going to be that no oh okay but I also think there are some good points at which other people can catch up so if you're not doing very well like the you know if you keep getting it wrong then it's you can go for that tunnel and try and win the game even though everybody's really far ahead the wolf slows everybody up so then everybody catches up so it's quite um yeah there's a lot of cool yes number nine for me is um a game that we may have ruined CU we played our own version of this game and slightly ruined the game um no we never ruined it we made better we made improvements is Dixit now I really liked the Disney Dixit who did we play Disney of the um so there's lots of different versions of Dixit I do think that you sometimes need to mix up the cards because if you just have one version you end up saying the same sort of words and saying sometimes yeah we won't talk about the other version version um and then so it's quite nice to play a new fresh version or at least change the people that you're playing with it the rules but um all the rules yes but um it is a good game um it's like a Level Playing Field for everybody because you just get a card with a

43:37 picture on it and they're really Rand they're beautiful cards really random cards that you could read almost anything into so um yeah it's good one we played um dirty Dixit which is looking at the cards and thinking the crudest rudest most disgusting things you could think of and saying them as your Clues and it was wonderful and many drinks were had and it was a good good time wonderful it was a good good time right what's your number nine uh my number next one my next choice is going to be the game don't get got from Big Potato games I really like it it's a it's a like a legacy party game um it doesn't stop um so it does when you play all your C it does so don't get got is a is a basically a card game you're all given a a selection of cards and you're at your party whatever the event is it could be a wedding it could be a birthday it could be be a we've got the Christmas don't get got yeah and you have basically a task to do and you have to do the task and then go haha you've been gotten you have to do it to the people who are playing the game you can't just do it to a rando and just be like I got you and they'll get very confused as what Happ like in the Christmas one it's like um tell somebody they've got the last present and make them go and look under the tree when there's nothing there or something or yeah or stick wrapping paper to someone and so they don't or then make sure they notice and that kind of things it's really silly little pranks someone eat the last Sprout yeah so it's it's really silly little things but um it's a lot of

45:07 fun um and yeah it's just it just adds an extra layer like if you were at with a group of friends going to a an event you could just do it as a bit of fun while you're were all trying to essentially prank each other but in a more of a safe space rather than going a bit Rogue cuz it just keeps yeah enjoy it's good number eight for me is block party where it's sort of like like charades where you're drawing things essentially you have lots of little colored different blocks And Then There Are Rules like you can only use three blocks three blocks or you can only use Black Blocks or you can has to be a certain height that kind of thing certain things and then you have to make a picture and people have to guess and you score points um and it's really good for yeah it's really really nice game again Big Potato games but they're always very good for that kind of thing my next game will be kites um kites is a really fun real time tense party tense party but it gets you get you I would go skyrockets over Co Sky yeah skyrockets Rockets is better I said it why don't you put skyrockets on uh because for a party you want the tenseness no don't come to one of Craig's parties no because for a party game kites is less of a rules overhead that's true so it's just a and you hate your friends yeah that's it okay uh number seven for me is

46:39 a game that we don't actually own but our good friends do and it's one that I really enjoy it's quite straightforward very simple to learn it's cockroach poker y so and you're basically passing cards along and saying this is an ant um the person has to either believe you or they have a look and uh they disagree with you if it is an ant then you get you get point or they have to keep keep something like that um but it's really good fun if you get stuck with four the same it's kind of the easier version then that's not a hat which I absolutely hate yes yes I well okay segue my name my next one is that's not a hat um that's hat is I'm terrible at it I have the brain of a Civ or a Civ with holes get really nervous around that game it's so it's so good but you basically will have a gift and you gifting other cards so a card will come to you and then you'll pass another card on and you're trying to remember where everything's going what direction everything's moving you're like this is a hat that's not a hat that's a and then you have to say no that's not a hat and you pass it back if it is right they'll get the it's like cockroach broker but it's just very much more complicated did and very ner well I don't know if it was the people I was playing with or I just found it nerve-wracking but I was like I can't remember anything yeah about where any of these things are or what they are yeah and I'm under pressure and I don't

48:10 like it's such a good it's it's so good it's really good it's just a me it's the memory side of things and if you've had a few it's probably not going to be the easiest thing to play but it's always always hilarious uh number six for me is code names now I we've had code names for ages yeah it's a a go-to favorite um it's just so satisfying trying to make links between the words um it's infinitely replayable as well even though it's a single deck of cards of well a lot of cards of words although don't play it with Craig's mom because she got very confused yeah don't don't do that terrible idea but yeah and then you got to try and find out you know you don't want to find the Assassin and those sorts things it's good and there's different versions We quite like the duo version yeah the duet version is nice but the um the normal version is just yeah just really good good party yes yes it is speaking of good party games because that's what we're talking about here that is what we're talking another game that I really enjoy playing is fake artist goes to New York now we've played this uh we played this a lot over zoom using the time in the covid times over um because there's an uh is it annotation thing you could draw on the screen yeah and that was really cool and the way it worked um essentially everybody will know H know what you're drawing except for one person uh that one person then doesn't and they're trying to add lines to the image you have to draw a single line everyone's

52:43 star review number five for me is Dro palter which is a lovely dexterity game uh you have about five objects it's a tiny box but you have these five objects like a cryst cross thing a ring and a Red Cube and different things and you turn over the card and it will tell you how many of those things you need to drop onto the table but all these things are in the palm of your hand and you can only drop them one at a time obviously and then if you do the card you get a little bell which is great that now goes in your hand and so you're trying to drop um these objects but without dropping the bells of course that isn't always possible so the Bell and then you lose the ball um but it's great dexterity game and it loosens everybody up at the party oh yeah we like loose people at the party so uh my next choice will be wits and wages wits and wages is a good fun and again another great game that we played over the co times because there's a lovely lovely version on the line um and basically what I really like about it is a trivia game where you knowing the right answer isn't the most important thing it's being able to bet on who you think does know the right answer and I think that is that's really cool um to be able to have a game where I can play against your mother and know that I can just bet on her getting the right answer oh yeah cuz all your answers get inut it yeah and you bet you're basically

54:14 putting chips you can bet on yourself you can bet on yourself or you can yeah and you can certain amount so it's got like a really cool like uh roulette kind of map hasn't it so you put the your bets on the chips down of what you're betting on um it's a really cool really fun little party game pretty quick um yeah love it number four for me is a new fairly new one um called quick stop now we would play it here but we don't have it in the house cuz I think I took it to school um I mean there is some copies here but they're for a giveaway oh spoiler anyway so quick stop is uh it has um cards cards with letters on and cards with like statements so um something something that you open or something that closes or something that's blue something that's hard something that's shiny that sounds like a song and then um you would turn over so you would have the letters in your hand and then um you have to shout out things with your letter so it's something that opens and you've got the letter D you can shout out door and ha and um yeah it's good fun we we've taken to it had it out at a couple of parties and it's always gone down well since we B it so I think that is a good part game it is another one we really like another one again that was good during the covid times um is wav CRA like the co I think you know what I'm

55:44 not going to lie to you I think the co times are one of the best times in my life um everything's G down you didn't have to see anybody Liv in the dream live in the dream except for me he got to see me second thought yeah exactly so w that good um wavelength is a wonderful game again uh based around uh one person you'll have a it could be hot and cold could be the criteria and then you have to you'll have a special magical dial or point in a certain direction whether it's anywhere more towards warm or towards cold and then you have to say a freshly brewed cup of tea and then you'd obviously go all the way down to other side that's to hot or you wouldn't because what is the hottest of hot you could say lava then you would definitely go how wears tea compared to Lava that kind of thing um but not everybody's um brain works the same no so we had one uh we played it with our friends and it was about uh toothbrush holder and I remember it vividly and I was like that's sometimes can be it was like is it it was hygienic H hgic or not hygienic and they were saying it was hygienic because you store your toothbrushes in there but I was like yeah but they get Mankey like at the bottom it's not that hygienic yeah and so we we're completely off but yeah yeah yeah so no it's great game really cool number three for me is a go-to party game and I think we've played this game

57:15 so many times it also works really well on BGA so if you can't get a group of people together but you can meet on the internet then you can play it and it is six Ned and it you just are laying cards in an order but there's this added element of you can only lay out five cards before the sixth card then means you have to pick up the whole line of cards and you start off with 66 ballheads and you're trying not to lose them essentially first player to lose all their ballheads and get to zero and the the game ends the the round continu but then it ends and um then the person with the most ballheads left yep wins but it's a great party game it's always kind of like oh you just put that down and I was going to put the next card and it it's got that two and fro kind of thing and then there are loads of different versions that you can play the professional version where you can put cards at the beginning ex as well yeah absolutely it's good very cool my number three then or number this next game um is spyall uh sple is really good there's a grid of uh again very similar to fake artists and those kind of games there's a grid of uh locations and everyone has a has been given one of the locations so everyone knows where their spy is except for one person that one person is then you then have to ask questions to each

58:46 other and go around Robin um and you are trying to work out this the one person is trying to work out where everyone is uh and the spies are trying to work out who the person is that doesn't actually know the location it's such a simple idea it's been done in a lot of different games but this one is it's just really fun it's really silly the way you can just ask ask these leading questions um because you don't want to make it obvious to your friends that we're all on the beach because otherwise that person who doesn't know will go oh they're on the beach and then they go ah you're on the beach and then they win and get a point it's quite cool I like it it's fun okay my number two and you can guess where this is going now okay is deception murder Hong Kong mhm um I love this game it's um your detectives there's a murderer and you are trying to work out what the murder weapons were and what the clue was and um I just love those kind of yeah social deduction games where people are trying to tell their story and take the heat off of them sometimes if you play with more players there can be like an accomplice yeah um and it's just great fun I really like it because it's got that kind of code Namy feel to it because there is a specific clues that are being given um by like the Storyteller essentially um it's just yeah it's a really good game really cool I love it and we've got the expansion there's just loads of cards

1:00:17 and lo stuff yeah loads of characters and things my uh next one is going to be uh secret Hitler or secret Voldemort depending on which flavor you want to play um it's a again a really cool social deduction game where you are just basically trying to pass along your fascist policies if you're one but then you it's just it's just a really cool wellth thought out card game social deduction thing and it's it's really fun um yeah I understand people are kind of against the theme of it um and that's where Secret Voldemort comes in so you've got Harry Potter based version in rather than Adolf Hitler they both do the same but it's the same game um they just do different cards and I and I get that uh it's just one's available and one's a print and play um but well they're both print and plays but yeah it's really good fun love it yeah and number one for me which is my go-to party game that I would always play with a party of people and if I have enough people I'm asking them to play and they're going to play regardless of whether they want to is blood on the clock tower yeah it is the Ultimate Party game the ultimate social deduction game it's so much fun yes as a novice starting out it can feel a bit like whoa what's going on but if you've got a couple of games under your belt it's just um yeah the most perfect party game I think it's better in person than it is

1:01:48 online but the online version is fine it's just fine it depends I guess how you play it online you can play it very close to the the inperson game or you can let people write notes and things and then it becomes a slightly different game yeah because I think the beauty of the original game is that you have to remember a lot of information and that's where the human brain lets itself down sometimes and you get people on making mistakes but the mistakes are good because it can either help the good side or you know make things better for the evil side and that's I I love that type of thing um but you know in the online version it's possible to write notes so information is kind of Forgotten or misinterpreted because people are making notes but I guess that's you can decide that with your well that's it but it yeah if I've got enough people to play it it's happened in party there's a reason it's the number one party game on BGG as well um it's it's it's a perfect social deduction game there are new characters being brought out every 5 Seconds it seems I feel can't keep up with yeah I it's it feels like there's too much I don't think you need them though I think think the the three base games are perfect I just if they can hurry up and just bring out the expansion with all the other characters then you can mess around doing all those those custom scripts rather than having to like online you can do custom scripts and it's good fun but I I yeah it's there's a lot there's a there's a lot of lot and it's daing now there's so much of it it's more difficult I feel for the new players to get involved um because now everyone's so busy going making

1:03:21 crazy scripts that people are forgetting that it's actually fun to use the original scripts I feel like now everyone's everyone's going pure chaos mode but the original are really balanced the sometimes when you go for a custom scpt custom script doesn't feel balanced all of the time no um so I would always and there's always extra rules that you have to remember like if this character is in a script with this character you have to remember this Special Rule jinxes like jinxes which how does a jinx work in a in the official game like you're not going to have that anyway it's good my uh Last Choice is hit the silk um hit the silk we played a few games of it now and it is always we played a game with the Creator we played a game with the the Creator Mr Brandon it was um yeah it's a just such a good game you have to send it up you have to send it up there's so basically essentially what you're doing is you are you're running away from the mob with the money you need to get a certain amount of money so you can pay off the mob and get away you're in an airplane you're flying the plane has lost power the plane is now hitting is is coming down very quickly you're trying to jump plan you're trying and then you what you've worked out is there's like maybe there's four of you but there's only three parachutes if there's six of you there's three parachutes and a tandem parachute someone's not getting off that plane or two people are not getting off that plane with a parachute and you're all trying to uh get that certain amount of money and cards and every time you play a card or do something the plane is

1:04:51 dropping like 500 feet a time um it's such a good game you really need to be in like a in a silly mood and getting into real character like you're creating a story yeah we have played we have played games where it's being kind of not dead but dull because people haven't got really into their character or I don't understand it enough to to send it up I think it's much better you know we played a game just recently where it was like right you're poison first first first go your PO poison why what did I do you know well it's just because you looked at me funny you know that kind of thing I mean it was a perfect game because I played such a villain role and then in the end I died and I was like that's like he had no that was the perfect ending for my character that I created like if that was a film and you managed to land the plane it was like a perfect motion picture you have to do it like that there is a because there is a pilot's license on the plane so you can make Landing the plane easier there is all always the chance that you can get the right amount of money and go okay guys let just just descend now there was a point why don't we just land the plane the last turn where I thought so they were relying on me to do something I can't remember what it was but we were all going to win but there was part of me in the back of my mind that was like I might just mess up on purpose but yeah it was fun it's such a fun like yes the story in that game is

1:06:23 the story in the story you create is what makes that game and if you're if you don't have the right people to create that story then maybe it doesn't work as well but the pure like Brilliance in the game is the story and and is the characters that you create definitely I thought of some games that you well I thought of one G didn't add on your list snakes no two rooms in a boom two rooms in a boom amazing really want so there's a there so two rooms in a boom uh basically you are one room has like a terrorist in it the other room has the American president or the president well is the American president but the president in it um and basically what you're trying to do what the baddies are trying to do is get the bomber and the president in the same room at the same time uh the game is about 15 minutes long and it can be played up to about 50 people which is fun there's also a new game that they've released called werewolf in the dark and I want it but what you need is a lot of friends in a forest um no you could do it in a house like a big house with a ground it's the ultimate game of hide and seek it's Among Us the video game so basically what you're doing is you're running around finding people if the werewolf finds you and Taps you you fall on the floor and you play dead then someone finds a dead body they go I found a dead body and then now you have to have a meeting a house meeting and deide on what's happened what you've seen like in Among Us who you think is sus and then you choose to execute them and you've got like a minute or something and you choose to execute immediately they die but when they become a ghost they then become a uh whether they're a well for a human but

1:07:53 even if you die you become a ghost but you have no Alliance to either side so you have a secret power that you can use against anyone you want you roam as a ghost and it sounds incredible and I cannot wait to get it played I just what need big people not big people I need big people I do need big people to play it with I'm not playing with we've also got some other party games things like masquerade which needs quite a few people but it's about cards and it's a bit like yeah like cou masquerade they're they're very like um yeah snakes is great madeup movies is great that's the kind of snakes is like your selling a product and you're creating a product based on two cards that you've matched together SN oil SN snake oil sorry yeah snake oil not snakes snakes is part G snakes is good fun with the Mong of Tru so many so if you're having a party no I'm going to ask you a question all right what's your board game menu if you're having a party board game menu party party menu all right then uh we're going to start with a little bit of Love Letter romance uh then for our main course we are of course going to play I think I think we're going to play hit the silk as our main course and at the end that's not a hat oh I'm not coming to your party I was with you up until then I was like no no I'm not going to that party
