Welcome to Board Game Animal. My name is Justin. I wanted to take a few minutes and talk about Plate and what their game catalog has to offer because lately I had already been tending to be a fan of a lot of what they were putting out. And I reached out to them because of Nebula Colors because we have a history with that game and we just did our video on that one. I wanted to talk about them a little bit more. Their game choice is fantastic and to me the creative choices are all vibrant and spot on. For instance, I already loved games like Gosh Bon Trick and Heavenly Bodies. And to see their glow up through Plate is tremendous. Now listen, for me Gosh Bon Trick already was pretty much the pinnacle when it came to set collection and trick taking. The design is ingenious and it was always for me strangely thematic when it comes to a trick taking game.

Because playing a game about set collection, about something that you would actually collect sets of in real life, maybe trade with others or resell and things like that, it just really, really clicks. And Plate's version elevates that to the next level by adding actual coins for your spending currency and a slot in the box that adds just the most delightful charm and elevates an an already surprising level of theme for what is a mathy trick taker. But from Pensterdam to Paradigm, Penguin Party to Circus Flohcati and Liar's Dice, I've been enjoying Plate's production in the past year or two in general. And so far across the board I've been enjoying the size of what they're putting out and the form factor. Because sometimes that really matters, whether it's a game that normally would be bigger that they fit into a nice compact package or examples like the coin slot in Gosh Bon Trick or the sparkles of Nebula Colors, it's just things that give a fun little thematic flair. They really embrace this infusing whimsy into the production.

And I was really interested to see how they would do with traditionalish games, hence my interest in their productions of Backgammon and Zombie Chess, which is a different skin of Buffalo Chess. Because I wanted to see how it felt with some traditional traditional feeling board games as opposed to one of my already small beloved card games just getting that aforementioned claw. And for these two, I really like the whole delivery for a nice travel sized version of these games. I think the fold out magnet boards work well, they look nice. Yes, they have creases, but at the end of the day, it's not something that really bothers me that much. It's something that gets the job done with nice pieces. The presentation is good. I I think it really delivers that play aesthetic to an otherwise very traditional feeling games. And also, and this is a very much a me thing, right? But I really love the way these games look on the shelf. I'm a fan of publishers having some sort of guidance when it comes to the size of games. It's something I appreciate in general, but again, the fact that play can take something like backgammon put it in the same size and shape as Gosh Bond Trick or these games that, you know, previously could have been sold in Monopoly size boxes, and now they're in a reasonable size and look pretty on the shelf. I just really love everything about that. And not to mention, I am so stoked for what's to come from play. Stu Teacher has been throwing out reveals of what's to come, and I am just ecstatic, elated that one of my favorite climbing shedding games, Dickory, is going to be getting a new version, as well as Hellas, Enemy and Enemy, and even more.

I cannot wait to play some of the new versions of these, and you can be absolutely sure that we are going to be talking about them as soon as we can. Thanks again to play for the copy of Nebula Colors, as well as the copies of the backgammon and zombie chess. Really delighted by them, and I am so happy with what amazing stuff that play is bringing to the hobby right now. Please check out the store down in the link below, and I'd love to know what your favorite play game is, so definitely comment that down below, as well. Thank you so much for watching, liking, and subscribing, and don't forget to always play board games like an animal.
